ellie staggering out of the warehouse on her own. bloodied, broken, and bruised. yet another tally to the ever lengthening list of utter bullshit she has to put up with just for a measly chance to cure people who will neither be grateful for her sacrifice nor deserving of it. her love for the people she lost drives her, but joel knows that no one deserves her kindness, not when he’s seen the hell she’s going through. not when he can’t protect her from even this.

joel had every right to take her out of that hospital. the choice was selfish and cruel, but ellie…funny, capable, and kind ellie. the closest person he has to a daughter, a single tether to his humanity, does not deserve to be a sacrifice to an already broken world hellbent on destroying themselves on their own.

Girl I saw that little chat between you and that anon about 4 year old ellie and OH GOD I would love if Drunkman actually did some Tlou Alternative Universe Game like that. Imagine if joel goes back in time and is all confused about what is happening and why he woke up in Boston, but when he realizes why he looks kind of young again, his kneejerk reaction is trying to find where ellie is. Just imagine he somehow meeting ellie when she's in the orphanage and awww they small talk a little before a guard tell the kids it's meal time. So he comes back in the next day and be like "hey, hm... I brought this Astronaut for you" giving her the little white plastic thing. He traded just 1 cigarette for it. And she takes it in her little hands and her mooth is forming a "O". Joel just wanted to reach out his hand and rub her head, but he holds back. In her eyes, he is still a stranger, so this would be weird. Her greens would look at him and smile "how did you know I like Astwo-nots?". Cause you said. You said when you were fourteen and still did when you were nineteen. Cause you're my kid and there is no way I would forget about that. But he just says "I reckon you would be a good one, so I figured." And she giggles with her tongue between her teeth the way kids do and joel immediately knows he has to figure it how he takes her from this place. like, asap.
