☕¡Muy buenas, ratones de biblioteca!☕ La reseña que traigo hoy es de Fuera de guión, escrito por Jen Wilde, traducido por Diana Gutiérrez, editado por Kakao Books y con una portada preciosa de Xulia Vicente. Me interesó este libro porque últimamente me están atrayendo bastante las comedias románticas y si además me das representación LGTBIQ+ mejor. ✨Opinión✨ 🎥Luces, cámara y acción 🎥 Empecé a leer este libro pensando que era una comedia romántica sáfica pero después de terminármelo he llegado a la conclusión de que ha superado mis expectativas de sobra. Es un libro divertido, tierno, que se siente real, que tiene personajes reales con situaciones reales, y a la vez es reivindicativo. Empieza como una historia típica de una persona que se va de su pueblo natal para perseguir sus sueños, pero te encuentras con que va mucho más allá. Trae el mensaje de que las representación de las minorías (personas racializadas, discapacitadas o del colectivo LGTBIQ+) en la ficción que todes consumimos importa y es necesaria, pero a veces los privilegios de los de siempre no les dejan ver los problemas de quienes carecen de esos privilegios. Es un canto a la lucha por los derechos de los grupos oprimidos y el mensaje de buscar tu identidad, aferrarte a ella y sentir orgullo de quién eres se queda grabado a fuego cuando lees este libro. Most people think of anxiety as panic attacks. That’s not entirely accurate. [...] Anxiety isn’t an attack that explodes out of me; it’s not a volcano that lies dormant until it’s triggered by an earth-shattering event. It’s a constant companion. Like a blowfly that gets into the house in the middle of summer, flying around and around. You can hear it buzzing, but you can’t see it, can’t capture it, can’t let it out. My anxiety is invisible to others, but often it’s the focal point of my mind. Everything that happens on a day-to-day basis is filtered through a lens colored by anxiety. That nervousness that makes your palms sweat and your heart race before you get up and make a speech in front of an audience?  That’s what I feel in a normal conversation at a dinner table.  Or just thinking about having a conversation at a dinner table.  The fear that other people feel on rare occasions, reserved only for when they jump out of a plane or hear a strange noise in the middle of the night—that’s my normal.  That’s what I feel when the phone rings. When someone knocks on my door.  When I go outside.  When I’m alone.  When I’m in line at a store.  Everything feels like I’m on a stage, spotlight on me, all eyes on me, watching, judging. Like I’m one second away from total disaster. It’s invisible, it’s irrational, it’s never-ending. I could be standing there, smiling and chatting like everything is totally fine, while secretly wanting to scream and cry and run away. No one would ever know. In my mind, no one can hear me scream. I hide it because I know it’s not understood or acceptable—because I’m not understood or acceptable.

I enjoyed this book so much! It dismays me that the media is showing the negatives of the marriage equality vote, like really? What they should be showing in equal measures is to vote yes. Given you're enrolled, ballot papers will be sent out, and please vote yes. Its been legalised in other countries, so why not Australia. It would not only bring about an amazing change, but people wouldn't feel so isolated and alone. Saying yes to marriage equality means inclusion, because no matter what, no one should feel isolated based on their orientation. Furthermore: marriage should be about the unity of people, regardless of their orientations, it's simple really. We're not taking anything away from you, we're not forcing you into anything, it's simply about equality! We are all equal so it's about time its legalised!
