HIS EXPRESSION GROWS somber, no wolf in sight but the man himself as if scorned by the grand general’s speech of her selfishdreams. darius cannot help but see them in such light – had he not sacrificed it all for the empire? and what of his love lost, what of the man she slaughtered, had he not, too, sacrificed things beyond comprehension for the sake of their cause? why could she make such easy claims made something dark knot at the base of his throat, but oh, he knows his vows, he knows his promises. if her dreams consisted of marrying a weak man for love and flaunting it to all regardless of possible consequences, then be it. he would no longer speak against it.

it hardly means he is not allowed his rage, nor his bitterness. both are cold, ruthless in nature, but he refrains nonetheless. the empire, before all, not personal revenge—- he remembers himself, remembers his words and he swallows his wrath.

he’s grieved enough, but the ache never quite gives away.

as her hand, he’d retreat to simply being a political advisor. but this, too, could be said to be political advice: there’s little respect to be had for those who cannot separate personal matters from political ones, and if she must make him her husband instead of keeping him as her paramour in spite of the political implications, he’ll cease saying word against it, lest his own grief dares to well up and drown him.

Hawkfrost was born an orange tabby instead of a brown tabby.

Warriors genetics suck, so this is okay.

Sasha tells Hawk and Moth that their father was a strong and powerful cat, but does not disclose his name.

This leads Hawkpaw to believe his father is Firestar, because Firestar is an orange tabby, as Hawkpaw is, who is strong and powerful, as he heard from the other clan's apprentices.

Idolising Firestar, Hawkpaw does his best to mimic the great cat. He tries his best to be kind and fair.

When Firestar offers words of consolation to Hawkfrost that his heritage will blow over. Hawkfrost tells him he's sure it will. He's happy to have talked to the Thunderclan leader.

When Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw are welcomed as new apprentices (warrior, and medicine respectively) Hawkfrost wishes them well. He talks to them whenever they run into each other.

They end up becoming good friends.

Hawkfrost is supportive in Mothwing's endeavour to become a Medicine Cat, though is slightly saddened by her change in career path. After waiting for a sign from Starclan that doesn't come, Hawkfrost manufactures his own sign so his sister may follow her dreams.

When Squirrelpaw becomes Squirrelflight, the orange tom congratulates her.

Hawkfrost sees Brambleclaw arguing with Squirrelflight towards the end of the gathering and firmly asks what's going on. Brambleclaw firmly tells him it's none of his business, and that he'll be talking to Squirrelflight later about this.

Hawkfrost asks Squirrelflight if everything is okay and she says it isn't because Brambleclaw isn't listening to her for even a second. Hawkfrost asks if she'd like to talk to him about it and she shakes her head. The gathering was close to finishing anyway.

Eventually, Hawkfrost overhears Leafpaw and Squirrelflight talking about Brambleclaw training in the Dark Forest. He confronts the two, asking what the Dark Forest is.

Hawkfrost asks if they've talked to Brambleclaw about it, and they say they've tried. He pieces together that this is why they've been arguing.

Brambleclaw ends up confronting Hawkfrost, bothered by the fact he's always so close to Squirrelflight, and accuses them of being together. The thought disgusts Hawkfrost and he firmly refutes it saying they're friends, and asking what it is to him anyway.

Brambleclaw tells him they're mates and Hawkfrost proclaims he's an awful mate and shouldn't be treating her like that. This angers Brambleclaw. It looked as if the situation would turn into a fight, which lead Firestar to intervene. There are no fights at gatherings.

Hawkfrost notices the way Leafpaw looks at Crowfeather, and talks to her about it.

She confesses she's become dove-eyed for him ever since he saved her. Hawkfrost tells her it's okay to look, but you shouldn't touch.

Leafpaw agrees sadly, and Hawkfrost feels bad for making her feel this way. He offers to show her a battle move in case she ever needed to protect herself or a patient. She's hesitant about this, but agrees, thinking it would be best if she could protect herself and her patients.

Squirrelflight tells Hawkfrost that Leafpool is pregnant. She tells him she doesn't know what to do, and that Leafpool feels as though she'll have to abandon her kits once they're born. Seeing the turmoil in Squirrelflight's face and Leafpool's face from afar, Hawkfrost feels compelled to take action.

He takes in the Three. Hawkfrost introduces them to Riverclan as three rougue kits; Holly, Jay, and Lion. Riverclan is suspicious that the kits are actually his, but don't say anything aside from whispers.

Hollykit, Jaykit, and Lionkit, grow up to be Hollytail, Jayriver, and Lionstorm.

Hollypaw was apprenticed under Rippletail.

Jaypaw is apprenticed under Beechfur.

Lionpaw is apprenticed under... Blackclaw.

Hawkfrost tells him not to listen to Blackclaw's ramblings too closely. They ran out of cats to apprentice him off to.

Starclan desperately tries to contact Mothwing about the Three, but it doesn't work, so they contact Willowpaw.

Jaypaw is found to be a rather good swimmer once he gets the hang of it. He's not allowed to get into battles alone because he can't tell exactly where a cat's face might be. In training, he's a good fighter, in practice, not so much, and he admits that it was kind've humiliating to get into fights with other clans since he can't keep up with where cats are in the rush of battle.

They did find out that he can defeat cats by tagteaming.

He's named Jayriver after his proficiency in swimming and hunting fish.

Beechfur is a kind and open-minded mentor who thinks well of Jaypaw. He doesn't look down on Jaypaw for being a rogue cat. He's encouraging and makes lighthearted jokes that make Jaypaw feel comforted.

Beechfur defends Jaypaw from other clan apprentices picking on him.

Hollypaw is found to be an excellent fighter, and a good Riverclan cat. She doesn't like swimming too much because of her long fur, but appreciates the sound of water.

Rippletail instills a sense of commitment and love for Riverclan in Hollypaw. He's a good natured cat with a peaceful demeanor. Rippletail shows Hollypaw the flaws and merits of each cat. Though some may be more flawed than others, they are all deserving of love. Rippletail tells her that love doesn't mean letting them get away with hurting other people or yourself, but by holding them accountable and being there for them.

Rippletail cautions Hollypaw that if someone hurts her too much, it is best to leave them, because they've shown they don't care about her. If they love you, they will acknowledge that they have hurt you and try to make ammends, but always think to yourself whether you're hurt by something they can't change, or by their actions. It's a fool's quest to attempt to change the unchangeable.

Also, Reedwhisker and Hawkfrost are dating. No, it is not weird, because Reedwhisker is from Mistyfoot's second litter. There is nothing that truly implies he was from the first litter or that Mistyfoot only had one litter.

Reedwhisker is much like his mother Mistyfoot.

Reedwhisker is calm, blunt, self-assured, kind, and attentive.

("I hope to become the strongest, wisest leader I can be." She then proceeds to become so old that she's seen it all.)

Hollypaw grows up to be a loyal warrior. She's kind, attentive, and does not take shit. She likes to joke around.

Rippletail is proud of Hollytail.

Lionpaw and Blackclaw do not get along.

Lionpaw thinks his vibes are off-putting, and Blackclaw always seems to be badmouthing someone or comparing him to other cats. He wishes that his dad could've been his mentor, and thinks it's dumb that it isn't allowed.

Lionpaw cries a lot. Blackclaw is really mean. Hawkfrost frequently argues with Blackclaw, but no one can do anything about it because they don't have other warriors to spare and Hawkfrost can't be Lionpaw's mentor. Beechfur and Rippletail help out Lionpaw with training when Blackclaw is neglecting him by going off doing other things.

Lionpaw grows up to be insecure, afraid of hurting others, and caring.

His natural prowess in battle earns him the name Lionstorm, as well as his care for his clanmates.

He's considering becoming a medicine cat or at least learning some herbs.

Hollytail, Lionstorm, and Jayriver get to know Doveheart and Ivywish because Hawkfrost was talking to them at a gathering.

Doveheart and Lionstorm vibe. Ivywish and Jayriver get along pretty well. Hollytail thinks both Ivywish and Doveheart are cool younger warriors.

Doveheart and Ivywish lead the resistance against the Dark Forest.

Jayriver and Doveheart tag-team, and Hollytail and Ivywish back each other up. Lionstorm learnt a few herbs from Mothwing, but knows his battle prowess is what's needed here. As much as he hates fighting, and he hates how he goes into an uncontrollable rage.

Tigerstar sees the way he's plowing down his forces and is disgusted by that soft-heart killing his warriors. He goes in for the kill. Hawkfrost, seeing the dark commander making a run for his son, rushes to his aid. As he leaps in front of him, Tigerstar's claws rake down upon him, and he screams in pain.

Lionstorm is shocked out of his state as he sees his father crumple.

Firestar takes on Tigerstar.

Hollytail, Ivywish, Jayriver, Doveheart, Squirrelflight, and Leafpool rush over. Hawkpaw and Tawnypaw close behind.

Mothwing is still busy tending to the wounded.

Blood leaks out from the wound on his neck, and out of his nose and mouth. Hawkfrost's breathing is laboured and pained, yet he still makes an effort to smile at his gathered family.

"Dad! What did you do!" Lionstorm cries. The future medicine cat apprentice attempts to stop the bleeding with moss.

"I swore he'd never hurt you again, my little lion."

Hollytail couldn't speak, her breaths growing fast, and eyes wide with horror. Leafpool pressed up against her daughter. Her tail wrapped around her comfortingly.

Hawkfrost looked to his only daughter.

"Oh Holly, you sweet smart darling of mine. Trust in yourself dear."

She pressed her face against his.

"Dad?" Jayriver breathed.

His eyes moved over to Jayriver.

"Never lose yourself, my small jay. You're a gift."

Lionstorm continued to desperately attempt to treat his father.

His round eyes met his father's.

"Please, don't." He begged.

"These wounds aren't going to heal. Don't harden your heart, Lion. You are loved."

Hawkfrost looked to Ivywish and Doveheart. "You're both worth more than what you think, and what others see of you. You're wonderful Mollies–" He coughs harshly. "You'll find your happiness, I know it."

Hawkfrost gived Hawkpaw and Tawnypaw the warmest smile.

He finally looks to the two he calls his little sisters. "Thank you, for everything."

The red hawk hacks violently. Blood pools onto the forest floor. He lays still.

When Reedwhisker gets there, it's too late.

"You foxheart!" He curses. "I didn't get a chance to say goodbye."

He presses his head deep into Hawkfrost's pelt. He doesn't care about the blood that smears across his fur. He lies the dead body of his love.

The tree falls on Firestar. Brambleclaw becomes Bramblestar.

Squirrelflight and Leafpool are devasted.

(also i suppose the fire scene happens, but Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw have two children I will call Tawnykit and Frostkit, after Hawkfrost and Frostfur. I'm not sure whether I should have Tawnypaw and Frostpaw die in the great battle or not. had to revise because timelines yeah.)

The deaths of Hawkfrost and Firestar are felt deeply within the clans. The warriors they lost that night...

Frostpaw and Tawnypaw earn their warrior names Frostrunner, and Tawnysight.

Squirrelflight breaks up with Bramblestar around the time Sparkpaw gets her warrior name, Sparkpelt.

Tawnysight joins Shadowclan because she can't stand her dad anymore.

(Ashfur died during the Great Battle fighting for the Clans)

Frostrunner watches out for his younger brother and sister.

Fernsong and Ivywish get together.

Doveheart moves to Shadowclan to Tigerheart.

(some of this isn't in order. it's getting late lol)

Lionstorm is Mothwing's second apprentice.

He feels much better since his powers faded.

Jayriver is also more comfortable.

Hollytail has been hanging out with Harespring more often.

He makes a lot of jokes, and compliments her.

They're not without arguments, and Hollytail feels like he agrees to appease her and not because he actually thinks she's right.

"I thought you wanted me to agree with you."

"Only if you actually agree with me."

"But it's easier to just agree with you."

"Urgh." Hollytail flicked her tail in frustration.

Harespring frowned. "Holly, why is this such a big deal to you?"

"Because it matters to me that you listen to me."

His eyes shone. A smile graced Harespring's face. "You care what I think?"

"Yes." The black molly gritted. "So why don't you care about the fact your actions harm your clanmates."

"Because I don't really care about them."

Hollytail was at a loss. "Why not?"

"They don't care about me."

Hollytail was sympathetic. "If you keep disobeying the Code, you'll get banished."

"I don't think I will."

"Why not?"

"Windclan needs their warriors. They can't afford to lose me. I pick up the slack where others don't."

Hollytail sighed. She realised she wasn't getting through to him today. She just chose to lay beside him and lick his fur.

(Fernsong and Ivypool get together after Alderpaw becomes Alderheart)

Mollybranch, Leapingstrike, and Jayear.

Jayear mentors Alderpaw, and is sad to see him have to go to the medicine den.

Cherryfall mentors Sparkpaw.

Wasptail and Tawnysight date. Tawnysight wants kits, and Wasptail doesn't mind the idea, but they don't know who the father should be.

Tawnysight doesn't really like the idea of it being Rippletail, and all the other toms have mates.

She suggests that maybe Frostrunner could father the kits, with Wasptail being the mother. Wasptail isn't sure, but agrees. She's just hoping the kitting won't be too bad.

They take in Violetkit.

Wasptail gives birth to three kits, Runningkit, Firekit, and Squirrelkit.

She loves them dearly, but sadly passes away soon after due to yellow cough.

Tawnysight is heartbroken. Violetpaw is griefstricken.

Runningkit (Runningshadow), Firekit (Firedancer), and Squirrelkit (Squirreljump) seek refuge in Skyclan during the Kin fiasco, and earn their warrior names there.

Tawnysight is killed trying to protect the clan.

Frostrunner flirts with Ambermoon.

They accidentally have two kits, Moonkit (Moonwhisker), and Skykit (Skylark).

They do their best to raise them.

(They're like oops, welp, now we have two crotch-gremlins.)

Also, Hawkfrost wasn't allowed in cat-heaven because he faked a Starclan sign. He's just a wandering ghost that occasionally bothers Tree.

you cheeky asshole you already know how i - look, what am i going to say that my ass hasn’t said already ?!?!?! other than i’ll say it again because i love them that much but essentially i’ve been an avid Yasuo/Riven fan for 2, almost 2.5 years and as open as i am with shipping, it takes a particular dynamic to even earn the title of ‘OTP’.

somehow, Jayce/Riven did all of that and i say that because it hit on what i look for in a ‘OTP’ with Riven - mutual understanding and deep rooted similarities in each muse’s development that allows them to connect. it’s rare for her to find herself in another person who genuinely understands what she’s seen and what she’s done, so if somebody can empathize with that, it just -
