Jacqueline Fernandez granted permission by Delhi court to travel overseas for IIFA awards and film shoot amid Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s extortion case

As per IANS, on Tuesday, Delhi court granted permission to Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who is implicated in a money laundering case alongside alleged conmam Sukesh Chandrasekar, to travel overseas from May 25 to June 12. Special Judge Shailendra Malik approved Fernandez's request, stating that she needed to travel to Abu Dhabi from May 25 to May 27 in order to attend the IIFA Awards. Additionally, the judge permitted her to travel to Milan, Italy from May 28 to June 12 after the actress asserted that she had to participate in a film shoot.

Sukesh Chandrasekhar is one of the main suspects in the Rs. 200 crore money laundering case that the Enforcement Directorate is looking into. He is also charged in numerous other cases that the Economic Offences Wing, Delhi Police, and ED are looking into.

Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez, accused in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case, was knowingly involved in the possession and use of proceeds of crime of alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has contended before Delhi High Court.ED claimed Fernandez never revealed the truth regarding the financial transactions with Chandrasekhar and always concealed facts until confronted with evidence. Not only that she was aware of the criminal antecedents of Chandrasekhar, still she continued to receive, enjoy and possess proceeds of crime for herself and her family members.Fernandez’s plea stated the prosecution complaint filed against her confirmed that nowhere it has been alleged that she had the knowledge about the nefarious activities of Chandrasekhar in extorting money. She alleged that the ED has acted in a partisan manner while arraigning her as an accused in the money laundering case.

How did it all began?

The supposed seven-month long love affair between Jacqueline Fernandez and conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar began in 2021. While Sukesh was in Tihar jail, he managed to convince the actor’s makeup artist to connect the two.As reported in The Print, Sukesh had been calling and messaging Jacqueline several times when the actor did not respond, desperate Sukesh got in touch with her makeup artist as the ‘owner of Malabar Jewels and Sun TV and this is when the two started connecting finally.Jacqueline said to the ED that she was not aware the conman was calling her from Tihar Jail and during video calls he was shown in an office setup and the very same setup was actually done inside the jail.Jacqueline Fernandez and Sukesh Chandrashekhar met twice only when he was out on parole.Each time Jacqueline was questioned about Sukesh she brushed the news aside stating ‘these things keep happening with businessmen.’Apparently, the makeup artists convinced Jacqueline that Sukesh was part of a political family and has genuine affection for her. Since her days in Bollywood are numbered, this might be a good match for while she can also bag movies in the South as Sukesh is well connected.

When the trouble brewed?

Jacqueline Fernandez’s name propped up when Sukesh’s wife who has been jailed too mentioned her name.ED tagged Jacqueline Fernandez as witness and possible ‘beneficiary’ of a RS 200-core money laundering racket supposedly run by Sukesh. Jacqueline was stopped from boarding a flight to Muscat from Mumbai Airport after the ED issued a lookout circular in her name and she has cooperated with the ED by appearing for questioning.A 7,000-page charge sheet filed by the ED mentioned that Chandrasekhar gave Fernandez an Arabian horse worth Rs 52 lakh, three Persian cats that cost about Rs 9 lakh each, a diamond ring from Tiffany, expensive paintings, and other gifts. According to the charge sheet, Fernandez received gifts worth up to Rs 10 crore in total from Chandrasekhar.The ED’s case against Chandrasekhar is based on an FIR filed by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing in which he is accused of cheating and extorting Aditi Singh, wife of the former promoter of Religare Enterprises, Shivinder Mohan Singh. The latter was arrested in October 2019 in a case related to alleged misappropriation of funds at Religare Finvest Ltd.

Lately, conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez are making headlines for levelling serious allegations against each other. Sukesh, who earlier wrote love letters to Jacqueline from the jail, has now turned against her. It happened after Jacqueline moved the Delhi high court seeking direction to the superintendent of Mandoli prison and Delhi Police’s economic offences wing (EOW) to not allow the conman from issuing any letters, messages, or statements addressed to her directly or indirectly.

Amid this, India Today has accessed messages sent by the conman to the actor. As per the report by the portal, Sukesh allegedly sent several messages to Jacqueline through WhatsApp, using a fake number, while he continued to be lodged in jail.

The portal reported a message from Sukesh to Jacqueline, dated June 30, 2023, which read, "Baby this month on 6th, we have a court date and if you are produced by VC please wear a black kurta or wear anything in black, so that I know you have seen all my messages and you Love ?? So baby and missing you Ton I love you baby girl, you are mine mine forever.”

In a message following the same, the conman wrote, "Baby, it's really upsetting to see you did not wear Black on that day during the court hearing baby I really don't understand what are you even thinking, running away or avoiding me is not going to help in any way has it is only going to be me by your side in all from of ways am again repeating am ready to do everything that you need without any issues.”

"18th court production on VC please wear any colour, a multi-colored Kurta or just a plain white shirt without any design that I know that you have seen this message... I love you so much," the message read, according to the report. Not only this, the conman also claimed Jacqueline would be approached by film director and music writer Luv Ranjan for a movie in one of the messages.

For the unversed, Jacqueline is a protected witness in the FIR being investigated by the EOW in connection with the Rs 200-crore money-laundering and extortion case. Meanwhile, Sukesh is the prime accused in the case.
