✨ how do you feel about demon slayer s3 so far? i haven’t gotten the chance to watch it yet and was wondering if you have !!!

OKAY SO im a little bit biased since swordsmith focuses on three of my absolute Favorite characters but. i gotta say, im certainly not mad about it! theres things i feel couldve been executed better, especially for an arc thats so comparatively sparse (iirc), but ive Definitely been having a good time watching it! ill put my extended thoughts under the cut tho bc i, once again, wrote like 5 paragraphs so WKSJFNKD

my main complaint with it is prrrrobably the pacing? its the only season ive gotten to watch live while knowing what happens, and that prolly skews my knowledge, but it really does feel very snappy. a lot of episodes felt more like transition episodes, meant just to link Important Events(tm) together. in general, it feels like itd really benefit from getting to have more episodes tbh!

they already have absolutely Murdered me with additional scenes they added in for the anime, and i so so deeply adore that abt this season. the way it characterizes minor backstory characters in a way that makes things Hit harder is just so. nods nods nods. thats the stuff i wanna see!!!

they Really upped their game w the environmental detail and lighting, and god everything is so pretty. like. constantly. their action shots also absolutely Kill it! not only that, but their voice directing and casting is just. peak. 100%. but honestly, thats kind of to be expected from this show! still warrants appreciation though.

their takes on love+mistbreathing are absolutely stunning as well!! its probably one of the things i was most excited for-- the way they integrate these almost gymnast-like movements for mitsuri is just. SO much fun to watch. and the audio effects they use with it!!! mitsuri appreciation hours <33

all in all, theres things it feels like Could be kicked up a notch, but that may just be my own biases talking. swordsmith feels like a much more lighthearted arc-- they Certainly pushed it a little, but they also cut back on some of it, and i wouldve Loved to see them really commit to the borderline silly 'everyone is just kind of running around blindly hoping for the best and Somehow Winning' vibe i got when reading it. that contrast with the hardhitting emotional undertones is my Favorite part of swordsmith, but it doesnt seem to be focused on as much with the anime unfortunately... but! its fun, its pretty, and certainly not a bad time! its definitely gotten me to cheer and laugh and Fuckig Sob, so! i am having a FANTASTIC time <333
