so. you know that i study the ancient world. at some point i thought the question 'what if spain was divided into city-states', and thus this map was born lol

i'll now proceed to talk about every ancient greece-like area (cause not all of them are city states), but first, some preambles

the base map is supposed to show the comarcas, but it was divided into very weird areas, and i wasn't able to see what it corresponded to. that's why you might see some weird divisions here and there.

i tried to divide them into areas of 1 million inhabitants. sometimes this wasn't possible, either because there were cities / metro areas of more than that, or because i had isolated that territory creating others and i had no choice but to make it its own.

this map didn't show the canary islands :(

i know some groupings are a bit weird, i didn't plan this out and just did it on the go so yeah

i know it doesn't make sense to compare modern populations and settings with an ancient greek administrative model but this is just for fun <3

i also added different government systems. i did them randomly for fun, so don't think much about them ksdks, i just wanted to showcase the variety of different government systems in ancient greece

madrid: the most populated city-state, it is an autochratic monarchy

toledo: it is a democratic city-state

alcarria: it is a kingdom formed by three main tribes, the guadalajarians, the henarians, and the cuencians. the capital is in cuenca.

la mancha: it is a league formed by the city-states of albacete, hellín, villarrobledo, almansa, la roda, chinchilla, ciudad real, puertollano, tomelloso, alcázar de san juan, valdepeñas, and manzanares. the capital is ciudad real.

morena-cazorla: it is a kingdom formed by two main tribes, the morenians and cazorla-segurians, each one with one king and one capital; respectively jaén and córdoba.

guadalhorcia: it is a federation under the leadership of the city-state of antequera. the other city-states are vélez, alhaurín, ronda, cártama, nerja, tórrox, and álora. they are all oligarchies.

málaga: it is an aristocratic oligarchic city-state.

sevilla: it is a democratic city-state.

tartessia: it is an ethnic kingdom (ethnos). the capital is almonte.

cádiz: it is a tyranic autochratic city-state (ruled by a tyrant).

11. huelva: it is a democratic city-state.

12. caceressia: it is an ethnic kingdom. the capital is mérida.

13. nasridia: it is a kingdom divided into the tribes of the granadians, alpujarrians, bazians, huescarians, guadixians, and alhamians. the capital is granada.

14. indalia: it is a federation under the leadership of the city-state of almería. the other city-states are roquetas, el ejido, nerja, vera, huércal-overa, purchena, vélez, lorca, caravaca, and totana.

15. cartagena: it is a democratic city-state.

16. murcia: it is an ethnic kingdom. the capital is murcia.

17. alacant: it is a tyranic autochratic city-state.

18. jucaria: it is a kingdom divided into the tribes of the utielians, bunyolians, albaidans, and jucarians. the capital is gandia.

19. valencia: it is a tyranic autochratic city-state.

20. west iberia: it is a league formed by the city-states of alcora, albocasser, cirat, segorbe, vinaros, castelló, borriana, morella, andorra, alcañiz, híjar, teruel, utrillas, mora de rubielos, calamocha, cantavieja, valderrobres, albarracín, illueca, calatayud, daroca, la almunia, cariñena, belchite, quinto, and caspe. its capital is teruel.

27. balearia: it is a league formed by the city-states of palma, sóller, inca, petra, llucmajor, manacor, ciutadella, maó, eivissa, and formentera. the capital is palma.

28. coruña: it is an oligarchic autocratic city-state.

29. galicia: it is an ethnic kingdom. the capital is vigo.

30. west leonia: it is an ethnic kingdom. the capital is astorga.

31. oviedo: it is a democratic city-state.

32. east leonia: it is an ethnic kingdom. the capital is león.

33. castilla: it is a league formed by the city-states of santander, torrelavega, castro-urdiales, miranda, aranda, burgos, briviesca, medina de pomar, valle de mena, lerma, roa, haro, logroño, calahorra, and arnedo. the capital is burgos.

34. bizkaia: it is a federation under the leadership of the city-state of bilbo. the other city-states are durango, ondarroa, gernika, sopela, balmaseda, and igorre. they're all democracies.

35. gasteiz: it is a democratic city-state.

36. nafarroa: it is a league formed by the city-states of iruña, tudela, lizarra, erriberri, and zangoza. the capital is iruña.

37. transdueria: it is a federation under the leadership of the city-state of salamanca. the other city-states are almazán, soria, burgo de osma, ólvega, ágreda, segovia, el espinar, cuéllar, palazuelos, san ildefonso, ávila, arévalo, arenas de san pedro, las navas del marqués, candeleda, santa marta, béjar, ciudad rodrigo, and villamayor. they're all monarchies.

Get ready for a long answer cause I plan to answer all of these!!

1 - bts, ateez, and stray kids have always been my top 3

3 - Well I have 3 fav groups and I have 3 bias's from those groups (now just realising this is the 3rd question) so for bts its Yoongi, Jimin, and Taehyung. For ateez its Seonghwa, Hongjoong, and Wooyoung. For stray kids its Hyunjin, Minho, and Chan.

4 - My ult of ults, main man, husband etc is the one and only Min Yoongi!

5 - My first ever bias was Yoongi and he has stuck with me ever since, husband privileges and all ahahah

6 - I got into kpop october 2019

7 - bts blood sweat and tears (if we want to disregard Psy because that was technically the first song but it didn't get me into kpop)

Check in on my (not very realistic) wish list for episode 137

1. Sheepleb interactions, I don’t care with whom - I need sheepleb my beloved to interact with people for reasons. I know the sheep-shifting may only last for 1 minutes but that’s 10 rounds, surely enough to get some sweet RP in.

YES Cad grab the sheep yes YASHA SCRATCH THAT BELLY sheepleb interactions my beloved. Jester yes make sheepleb move his cute little ears I love y’all. YES SHEEPLEB chew on Yasha’s coat. I never knew I would love a sheep but I do now apparently. Yasha continuing to pet sheepleb and continuing to hold Caleb after he shifts back I love her so much-

2. Caleb or Beau accidentally and telepathically speak to people by thinking too loudly. I can’t wait for their reactions, it will be hilarious.

Well, Caleb did so but more deliberately, and it was more enlightening than hilarious lol.

3. Beau and Caleb discover the third function of their eyes (if dark vision is included in true sight, then they are missing one feature).

Nope, the eyes were used against them again to expose their locations, but haven’t ever been used for mind control yet, so I’m okay with that.

4. Beau and Caleb do not gain any new eyes (pretty please, come on).

I mean they have bigger problems but yeah I got what I wanted!

5. Wait no it’s the astral sea there is no wild magic effect anymore :( but can they at least encounter some unique astral sea creatures, features or something as fun as Aeorian wild magic.

Well... That was a lot of astral sea creatures. More precisely creepy meaty enemies. I think it was fun! In a horrifying way, but fun.

6. Someone mentions Yussa and discuss the probability of saving him (honestly though I don’t know how that’s going to work).

Jester mentioned Yussa pretty soon but I think they are a bit... preoccupied to save anyone at the moment, oops.

7. Getting closer to the city and discovering more of its nature/power/how to stop it.

Wow that city description is cool oh boy I got chills from the empty city suddenly bustling with people. Also that Caleb telepathy experiment is so creepy and terrifying. Is the city alive?! With flesh and teeth?! EuughhHHh. Timorei the terrified rebel/Fear they first met (who seemed to be on Lucien’s side), with Elatis and Luctus opposing him? The Aether crux??! Ira/Wrath who acted in a sort of beast-like way and seemed antagonistic towards Mirumus and Gaudius?? It’s good to know the Somnovem are in fact far from one mind - their opinions seem pretty divided. Aether crux might be the way to go, couldn’t they just destroy all the Somnovem, since they want M9 to kill some of them anyways? Does the entire city function like a living body?

8. Beau and Yasha continue to flirt even in the astral sea and travel side-by-side or physically interact.

Twin initiative 21 yeah let’s go- wait when I said physical interaction I didn’t mean it like that come on!! Stop hitting each other. Also Yasha’s small “I love you but” aww. It was still a little bit flirty somehow lol loved it. ALSO the air kiss was so cute I can’t with these two and their awesome PDA. They also searched the building together!

9. Jester really doting on Artagan/Sprinkle like she never did before.

I mean, she paid him way more attention that’s for sure :D

10. Jester and Fjord have a longer one-on-one conversation or fight like a badass battle couple that they are.

Hey they were both great in combat and explored together!

11. Obligatory wish for Essek’s fancy dunamancy or magical items (Bonus: we get to see one of those high-damage AOE offensive spells that he couldn’t cast).

AYY LIGHTNING BOLT HYPE! It was sort of an AOE too! Loved his flair as always. It’s not dunamancy technically but I’m counting it because cool purple-black spell.

12. Obligatory wish for Caleb’s polymorph spell (sheepleb was perfect, GIVE ME MORE).

Nope, but the sheepleb we got was awesome.

13. Tiny Veth interactions with party members (Bonus: with Fjord, or sheepleb).

Nope, the effect probably didn’t last long? Or they just forgot about tiny Veth lol.

14. The party members try to reach Molly through Lucien and Lucien reacting more to things that they say.

They didn’t catch up to Lucien at all, but I have a feeling that they will next episode.

15. They catch up to Lucien and Cree somehow and manage to stop them from returning the city to the world (or at least start the combat).

Combat was started at the end of the episode with Cree! They did catch up to Cree! This is going in the right direction at least.

16. Successful divine intervention from Cad or Jester.

At least Cad and Jester both tried! They weren’t successful, but still.

17. Yasha decides to brute force through a problem and succeeds like the true Barbarian that she is.

I mean, all the combat is brute-force and Yasha did eliminate one of the flesh horror monsters with her cool holy avenger swing!

18. Someone pushes the big red button and derails them.

Nope! They’ve been focused and on task and that’s good!

19. The wizards and their complicated whatever it is being addressed or developed more.

Not Caleb smirking at Essek using fire bolt then proceeding to use one himself and get a natural 20 I- that was so cool?? What?? Have I mentioned that I love those wizards because I love them. They also float the fastest of course.

20. Heroes’ feast/short rest or a long rest that they well deserve (Bonus: they have great rolls on the HP).

Nope, but I mean they probably need one soon.

21. Obligatory wish for Essek’s room in the tower.

Yeah nah this one is just a permanent feature on the wish list don’t mind it.

22. Oblitagory wish for Cad being a MVP in and out of combat.

Cad turned Caleb back (baaaaaaye sheepleb I love you), healed the group and discovered a lot about how the city worked, including using decompose.

23. Veth being thirsty for Davexian still, or for whatever other Astral sea creature they are going to meet.

“Want to do some apple picking?” LMAO I’m not gonna count that of course but it was funny.

24. Obligatory wish for everyone to remain relatively happy and alive by the end of the episode except Lucien and Cree (they can perish, but now I kinda want Lucien to not die since he had some strange reactions), and the episode ends on a terrifying cliffhanger as always.

Score: 12/24

Welp, that took a turn. I did not expect so much Eldritch horror and expected way more humour (which in hindsight was unwise considering how the story is going lol), but honestly I’m not complaining one bit. Matt’s voice acting and everybody’s performance are top notch and the world-building is just *chef’s kiss*, terrifying or not.

Bonus:

The subtitles said “bleating” when everybody yelled before the opening theme I’m dead lmao also “some a bit sheepish”, courtesy pun of the DM.

“I mean... *bleats*” hahahah I love sheepleb so much

Poor Essek had to start the combat on low HP, sadness. To be fair, our wonderful DM was busy playing many characters and giving beautiful expositions and the players were busy being captivated by all that!

"Oop, hot delivery girl, incoming," Raven whispered, a devious smile stretching over her face.

"Wha-"

Clarke jumped slightly at the quiet thud beside her, eyes swinging around to take in the brilliant pink box now sitting squarely in the middle of her desk. Before she could react, a grey skirt covered hip slid just over the edge of her desk, nudging aside her nameplate and outgoing stack of mail to create an impromptu seat.

"Morning, gorgeous."

She barely bit back a groan at the voice.

Raven grinned, leaning forward on her elbows and looking up at the woman now perched on Clarke's desk. "Well, good morning to you too, Lexa."

Perfect.

Clarke tried her hardest to stay focused on her annoyance at Lexa having such a brazen disregard for things such as personal spaces and belongings and the entirety of office etiquette, pushing down the thoughts of how well that satin burgundy shirt hugged every last one of her curves.

Cheeks pinking in failure, she compromised and settled on averting her eyes to the safety of her computer.

"Oh, morning. Did you do something with your hair, Reyes?" Lexa questioned, reaching out right across Clarke's screen to gently tug on one of Raven's flowing locks. "Sexy. Looks good."

Sighing in resignation at the obviousness of Lexa's antics, Clarke stopped typing and flopped back silently in her chair, feeling that typical flare of anger. Because who did that? Who does this? Who just sits themselves down on top of a veritable stranger's desk and starts flirting with their coworker? Who practically shoves their ass in someone's face just to sweet talk and charm someone who is distinctly not the work area's owner?

"I did," Raven said, breaking through her silent tirade with pleased smile tinting her features. "Got it trimmed over the weekend and got an oil treatment. Thank you for noticing."

Feeling a pinch to her arm Clarke grunted a soft, "Ow," sucking in a breath as she rubbed the injured area and glared at her friend. "I'm sorry, okay? I told you I had a rough morning."

"Oh, no. What happened? Bad dreams?" Lexa frowned, tucking a wisp of blonde behind Clarke's ear before pulling back. "Or good dreams?

Blue eyes flew up to the face obviously fighting a smile, an unreadable glint coloring the hooded gaze looking back.

Sucking in a breath at the insanely inappropriateness of that, at feeling somehow Lexa was currently seeing every flash of their torrid dreamtime coupling that was currently flying through her mind at that very moment. Clarke coughed out a quiet choking sound before clearing her throat with a shake of her head. "No," she stated, adjusting in her chair at the tick of a brunette brow and adding firmly, "and no... I'm fine."

Turning back to see her coworker smirking and glancing between them, Clarke narrowed her eyes and pointedly continued. "And I would've noticed eventually, Raven. It's been like five minutes since you sat down."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Lexa noticed at least," Raven flicked her wrist in dismal. "Who needs you?"

"Rave-"

"Ignore her, Clarke," she heard as slim fingers slowly turned her head forward and up, finding a heated grin zeroed in on her. "I need you."

The altogether too intimate touch and tone was gone before she could even begin to process it as Lexa casually moved to open the box beside her, flipping the top and continuing as though nothing had happened.

"Anyway, I had a craving this morning and couldn't stop myself, but I definitely went a little overboard. Figured I'd share."

Breathable oxygen still very much an issue after the gentle handling and warm words, Clarke dazedly looked down to see a small array of sweets.

"Oh my God," Raven moaned, pitching forward over the span of their desks to look through the variety of cupcakes with eagle-eyed precision. "Have I ever mentioned I love you, Lexa?"

"Buttercream can have that effect on people," Lexa hummed, leaning a palm down to support her weight as she practically lazed back across Clarke's desk. "Help yourself. Just leave the-"

"I know, I know," Raven rolled her eyes, fingers already lifting a chocolate and caramel monstrosity out of the box and bringing it to her mouth.

Snapping out of her reverie, Clarke drew in a quick breath and tsked at her deskmate as she sat back down. "It's like eight in the morning, Raven."

"So?" she muffled through a face full of cupcake.

"Technically, it's 8… 22," Lexa unhelpfully supplied, checking and then double checking the gleaming white gold watch sat neatly on her wrist. Clarke watched a slim finger drag through the chocolate of one of the cupcakes in a slow swoop. "Everyone knows you're allowed to sin after 8am."

"That makes no sense whatsoever," Clarke frowned, her focus now centered entirely on the woman draped over her work area.

"Trust me, Clarke," Lexa assured in a whisper while bringing the frosting covered fingertip to her mouth. Full red lips wrapped around the sugary digit before sliding it back out clean. "I'm an expert."

With that Lexa hopped up, legs swinging out in a graceful swoop as she lifted herself back onto the ground and hands slid over her chest in a show of straightening out the delicate fabrics of her clothes. Clarke valiantly tried not to watch how the slick material bunched and tugged in all the right places, a small inner voice chastising herself when the only coherent thoughts were of the fit and cut of her outfit.

It was annoying how everything seemed to fit like it was made for no other body than Lexa's own.

"Raven, I have a meeting at 11 that I need you to push back to 3," Lexa said as she finished her preening and collected her confectionery haul. "Charles wants to go over the contracts for a new client so I'll probably be busy dealing with kissing his ass until lunch."

"You got it, boss lady," Raven nodded, immediately turning to her computer at the instruction. "Not that I believe for a second you kiss anyone's ass around here."

"Oh, there's one or two," Lexa hummed, actually having the nerve to openly let her eyes trail over to Clarke for a moment, throwing in a final wink before sauntering away and leaving Clarke to her ruddy cheeked stupor.

Traitorously her eyes followed after, watching the hitch and sway of rounded hips and long legs as they glided through the office in high, pristine heels. Strong yet slim shoulders flexed with the confident swing of toned arms as she walked like she owned everyone within sight. The dip of her back looked so good wrapped in the smooth material of her blouse, its color and texture seeming almost liquid in the sunlight that slanted through the tall office windows; its smooth deep color spilling over the curve of her firm, full, squeezable looking-

"You need some alone time with that view?"

"What?" Clarke startled, head snapping back around to see her wickedly grinning friend as she carelessly took another bite of her treat.

"You looked like you were trying to get her pregnant with that stare."

"That-... No. Shut up. I wasn't even-... Shut up."

"Articulate. But what I don't understand is why you act like such an angry virgin every time she's around," Raven said, thoroughly ignoring the horrified look that stretched over Clarke's face. "I mean the girl comes up with the dumbest excuses to come talk to you, and you barely ever say two words. At least none that aren't hostile."

"She doesn't though," Clarke argued despite Raven's dubious look. "She came here to flirt with you. 'Ooo Raven, your hair's so sexy'," she mimicked in a nasally voice, dodging the free hand slapping her away as she moved to caress Raven's admittedly beautiful black tendrils. "Besides her being an HR ticking time bomb with how obvious she is, you're married for God's sake."

"You're so dumb. She didn't come here to flirt with me, dude. She came to give you that," Raven laughed and shook her head, reaching over to tap a finger on Clarke's desk.

Clarke followed her line of sight, face scrunching up in surprised confusion at noticing the perfectly placed red and white cupcake sitting on the front edge of her desk.

"Haven't you ever noticed whenever she 'accidentally' gets too many cupcakes, miraculously and mysteriously there's one red velvet in there? And it always miraculously and mysteriously ends up in your very own little combative ass hands?" Raven asked, rolling her eyes at Clarke's disgruntled look of dawning realization. "Homegirl sure as hell doesn't know my favorite flavor, I take what I can get."

"... I guarantee you, it's a coincidence," Clarke said immediately busied herself with fixing the arrangement of her work belongings. "Lexa's… I don't even know what. But thoughtful or kind or whatever the hell everyone here seems to think, isn't one of them."

"What has she ever done to you? Why do you dislike her so much?" Raven asked.

"How do you not? She's so… I mean how does no one else see it? She's insanely unprofessional, and says just the, ugh. The things that come out of her mouth. She flirts with everything in a skirt and bosses people around who've been here for years. Besides, haven't you noticed all the weird stuff that's happened?"

"Clarke, we're a startup marketing firm that caters to millennials. Of course there's weird shit going on around here. It's a circus filled with idiots."

"No," Clarke said firmly. "You don't get it, you weren't here before she got here. Things were quiet and fine at the old building and now everything's crazy. Contracts always going missing, John literally just disappeared one day-"

"You realize he probably just quit."

"The whole office has this weird vibe now," she continued on a roll. "I have never seen so many mess ups and freak accidents in an office building of all places before in my life. And she's always just… there."

Raven just stared at her with a blank look of boredom, slowly chewing a bite of her cupcake before swallowing and shaking her head. "Again. You realize everything you described sounds normal for a company who's recently expanded, right? Personnel turnover, paperwork mistakes, general growing pains as they adjust? And you're blaming her for that? When she's literally been nothing but nice to both of us?"

"She just… rubs me the wrong way."

"I think your issue is wanting her to rub you the right way."

Clarke scoffed in an overwhelming show of disgust, ignoring the swoop of her stomach to needlessly re-straighten the pile papers in her hands before carelessly tossing them aside. "You've lost your mind if you think I could even think about her like that. I've seen the way she looks at other people around here, believe me, she's not all sunshine and cupcakes. There's something up with her... Besides, she's annoying. And cocky. You guys treat her like she's God's gift but in reality she's just another asshat lawyer who thinks she's the master of the universe… And she's not even that pretty."

Clarke hadn't meant to go on such a vitriolic vomit of words but it was hard sometimes having to listen to the endless poetic waxing of the woman's praises. It just never stopped, and Clarke genuinely couldn't understand how not one single other person seemed to be able to see through Lexa's bullshit. Her pompousness and irritatingly smooth talking at every interaction. Like somehow her taking the time to figure out Clarke's favorite cupcake and going to the trouble of buying it for her… and hand delivering it to her desk… could or should somehow make up for the salaciousness of her smirk.

"Hey, Clarke?" she heard beside her after a moment.

"What?" she breathed, trying not to let her frazzled nerves get the best of her as she faced Raven with expectant annoyance.

"Can you turn this way?... Now do this," Raven asked, tilting her own head this way and that as her eyes roved over Clarke's face from different angles.

"Why?"

"Hm? Oh, I'm just thinking about what contouring would work best with your clown makeup, you gigantic fucking liar."

She easily ducked the halfheartedly slap Clarke aimed at her shoulder before carelessly tossing her empty wrapper in the bin between them and swiveling to resume tapping at her keyboard.

"I'm just saying," Raven continued, "you're fooling no one with that act. You'd have to be blind not to see how attractive that woman is. I'm happily married and even I don't exactly mind watching her shake her ass past your desk fifty-some-odd times a day. She's a hottie with a body, Clarke. Everyone, including you, can see that."

"You're as bad as she is. And I'm telling your wife you said that."

"Bold of you to assume I haven't said it to her myself... Granted, it was in the context of me wanting you two to just knock boots already, but she's aware I work with eye candy and she doesn't care. My lady knows I'm faithful, I can eye-fuck whoever I want."

"You and Anya defy all sense of reasonable relationship standards."

"That was part of the deal," Raven hummed, clearly becoming more distracted as she leaned closer to her screen and focusing on her work.

Sighing deeply at the apparent dismissal, Clarke resigned herself to the day as she clicked back into the long list of emails waiting for her… and begrudgingly took a bite of her cupcake.

Being alone in the bunker sucks.

First off, it’s creepy. It’s being alone in a house but taken to a whole new level because this is a fucking bunker and not even Sam and Dean know all its nooks and crannies.

Second off, it’s boring. Even once your injuries from the last hunt start to heal and you’re not as limited in your activities anymore. There’s only so much a girl can get up to alone in a huge ass bunker. You’re a teeny bit tempted to go find a small hunt to handle on your own while the boys are gone but logic wins out and you decide to just wait until they get home.

That doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with your boyfriend, though.

The first picture comes not long after the brothers get back to their motel room after burning the bones. It’s late for them but only about 10 PM in Kansas and Sam knows Y/N is probably getting ready for bed. He’s not entirely sure what he was expecting when he opened the text notification but it definitely wasn’t a picture of his very naked girlfriend sitting cross-legged on their bed, giving the camera a shy smile that should not be nearly so sexy as it most definitely is.

“Fuck,” he hisses before he can stop himself.

“Hmm?” Dean’s head pops up from where he’s unlacing his boots.

“Nothing,” Sam says hastily, shifting to hide the definite bulge in his jeans. “Just pinched a nerve.”

“Ooh. Ouch. Dibs on first shower.”

Sam rolls his eyes but doesn’t protest, turning his attention back to his phone to find a second text from Y/N. He opens it to see another picture, this one of Y/N’s body stretched out on top of the covers, one leg bent and falling to the side. He stares for a moment before he manages to make his brain work enough to type out a response.

Sent 12:08 AM: Damn

He doesn’t have to wait long for a response.

Received 12:09 AM: That’s all you’ve got?

Attached is another photo, from a similar angle as before but now Y/N’s hand is between her legs, where Sam knows it’s warm and wet and oh so perfect.

Received 12:11 AM: What’re you wearing? 😉

Received 12:12 AM: No, wait. Let me guess. The blue and orange plaid, grey t-shirt underneath. How’d I do?

Sam chuckles.

Sent 12:14 AM: Sorry. I went for the plain brown plaid tonight. I didn’t want to get graveyard dirt on any of my nice shirts.

Received 12:15 AM: Ooh graveyard. That means you’re all sweaty 😉

Received 12:15 AM: Lemme see?

That makes Sam hesitate. He glances at the bathroom door. The shower is still running and it’s only been a few minutes, so Dean’s not likely to come out anytime soon. Which means no one’s around to see what Sam’s about to do.

There’s a mirror on one wall of the motel room. He could use his front-facing camera but he’s never actually taken a selfie before on his own - Y/N has plenty of pictures of both of them saved on her phone - and he’s far from confident of his abilities.

It takes him far too long to take a picture that doesn’t make him look like a total idiot. How do people do this on a regular basis? He feels ridiculous as he finally takes a decent looking picture and sends it to Y/N.

Received 12:22 AM: I’m going to have to teach you how to take selfies.

Sam’s cheeks burn but right on the heels of that text is another.

Received 12:22 AM: Take off your shirt for me?

He hesitates again. The shower is still running. How long has it been? More than ten minutes. Dean will be getting out soon. He’s better off waiting until he can lock himself in the bathroom.

Right on cue, the shower turns off. Sam returns to his spot on the edge of the bed and quickly unlaces his boots. He’s gathering his pajamas and anything else he’ll need for the shower when Dean emerges from the bathroom in nothing but a cloud of steam and a towel.

“Dude!” Sam protests, a little more dramatic than is strictly necessary considering that Dean is technically covered.

“Forgot my clothes,” Dean replies cooly. “Don’t act like it’s anything you haven’t seen before.”

Sam rolls his eyes, heading toward the bathroom. “Don’t mean I want to see it again!” He catches a glimpse of Dean flipping him off right before he closes and locks the door.

Safe in the bathroom, Sam turns to the mirror. Dean’s wiped it with a towel, so he can see himself and his cheeks are bright pink. He grimaces. Hopefully Dean didn’t notice that.

Drawing a deep breath, Sam sheds his shirts. He knows he shouldn’t be self-conscious - he knows all too well how much Y/N likes his body and, logically, he knows he looks good, but he can’t help it. There’s still that part of him that sees only his scars, the muscle mass he’s lost over the years, the grey in his hair, and doesn’t understand what Y/N finds so arousing in his appearance.

When he unlocks his phone, he finds another text from Y/N.

Received 12:27 AM: You don’t have to show me anything if you don’t want to.

God, what did he do to deserve her?

Sam wants to take a picture, though. She asked for one and he knows it would make her happy, so he’s going to try. He strips off his shirts, letting them fall in a sweaty heap on the floor near Dean’s, and opens the camera on his phone. The many tries from earlier helped, it seems, and it doesn’t take him quite as many tries to take a picture he deems good enough for her. He sends it quickly, before he can change his mind, and then finally turns on the shower.

Received 12:34 AM: Unf

Received 12:34 AM: I’ve missed that view.

Received 12:35 AM: I want to kiss every little cut and bruise all better, and then take my time marking you up myself. Would you like that?

Sam shivers at the thought.

Sent 12:35 AM: I would.

Received 12:36 AM: So polite. I bet you would look so pretty with my marks on you. The collarbone is classic but I think your hipbones would be a good spot.

The mental image of Y/N on her knees, sucking marks on his hipbones, makes Sam’s cock jerk painfully against the zipper of his jeans. He quickly frees it.

Received 12:37 AM: Are you getting in the shower, baby?

Sent 12:37 AM: Yes

Received 12:37 AM: Are you going to touch yourself?

He bites his lip. He was planning on it but if she tells him he can’t, he won’t.

Sent 12:38 AM: May I?

Received 12:38 AM: Yes, you can.

Sam notes that she didn’t say he could cum. Sure enough, his phone buzzes right when he gets in the shower.

how would you rank the glee seasons (by personal preference) and why?

I hope you don’t mind that I’m copying and pasting from the last time someone asked me. You can find the full reply here - where I get into some objective rankings, as well. :)

Subjective Glee Season Rankings:

And here is a list totally based fully on my own opinions and what I personally enjoyed from the show.

1. Season 5 - This season I can fully just sit down and watch pretty much all the episodes and most of the story lines without wanting to skip around. It’s a warm and happy place, that has a lot of love and brings back some good comedy. It’s what I most want to pop if/when I want to just watch an episode of Glee. I also listen to the music from this season a lot.

2. Season 2 - NGL, the Kurt/Klaine story alone is what brings this up so high, and it’s nice that there are so many edits out there that I could get my hands on if I really wanted to watch just that. I kind of think the rest of the season is garbage, but Kurt’s story on the show is my favorite thing, and season 2 was really the best he ever got.

3. Season 6 - I think it’s underrated. Even if the botched the ending a little, these episodes are incredibly entertaining, and I’ll stand by that.

4. Season 4 - Yeah, the Newbie stuff kinda drags it down a bit. But there are a lot of fun episodes in here, and I don’t mind all the angst now that we’re long past it.

5. Season 1 - It’s not that I find the Front 13 bad. I don’t. I find it boring. Really. It’s so boring. The second half of the season I really enjoy, though.

6. Season 3 - No surprise to anyone, this season is terrible.

So, to get a better feel about how I really feel about the seasons, I’ve broken them down a little more. This is still a more subjective list than objective, but no list is going to be perfect.

1. Season 2′s Kurt/Klaine arc (various episodes) – it is, arguably, the best thing the show ever did. I’d almost want to combine the back half of season 1′s Kurt arc to this, too because it’s like a story and a sequel that gets even better. This is my absolute favorite part of Glee, and works so well as just a great stand alone story (which almost does lift right out of everything else going on around it).

2. Season 5′s New York Arc (eps 14-20) – There’s so much delicious Klaine during these episodes. The stories are solid, the small cast makes the show engaging in a way it hadn’t been for a long time, and the focus on letting the kids deal with adult issues let’s the show grow in a way that it hadn’t been allowed in a long time.

3. Season 5 Front 13 (eps 1-13) – I think this part of the season is a bit messier than the second half. It’s drawn out too much, and Finn’s death kind of leaves a dark cloud over a majority of it. But there’s a lot of fun in these episodes, and while a good half of them are filler, at least they were entertaining filler.

4. Season 6 (all of it) – For a long, long time, I didn’t want to like season 6. Yeah, it’s not the most satisfying ending that could have happened. Yeah, there are a few episodes near the end that shouldn’t have happened. But I keep coming back to season 6. There’s a lot of good stuff here, and it’s the tightest the show had been written in a long, long time. The world of season 6 does feel detached, in a lot of ways, from the rest of the show, but it’s been inspirational for a lot of my own fanworks, so it has a special place for me.

5. Season 1 Back 9 (eps 14-22). This is when the show really picked up the pace, and got into its groove. They shifted towards stories about the kids, and there’s a ton of focus on Kurt’s story, which I really love. (I call Home, Laryngitis, and Theatricality the Kurt Trio.) Plus, the show was able to balance comedy and drama in a really intriguing way, while getting rid of some of the baggage that bogged down the first half of the show.

6. Season 4 (everything but eps 18-20) I know season 4 has such a bad rap, but a lot like season 6, but also like season 6, fandom grew some really fantastic things out of the cracks in the season. Not only did the second half of the season have some really strong episodes, and the season as a whole have some great Blaine development, but I’ve grown fond of the conflict the season lets the characters have. Sure, it’s a bit messy all the way around, and neither Brody or the Newbies worked all that well, but this season had a lot of potential, and the fandom ran with it, much to my enjoyment.

7. Season 3 Arc 2 (eps. 9-17). Okay, so technically, the middle arc only goes through ep 14, but I’m attaching on some other episodes there, and am about to give season 3 some credit. The middle section of season 3 isn’t so bad. There are some quirky and fun episodes here. Sure there are a few terrible ones in between those, too, because this is still season 3, but every season has something enjoyable in it, so I’m giving credit where credit is due.

8. Season 2 Everything Else (various). Look, I’m going to be honest. A majority of stuff that isn’t Kurt/Klaine just isn’t that interesting to me. And really, I’d argue that there are a lot of crappy story lines in here as well that kind of get ignored because Season 2 was Glee’s golden age – and when fandom really came together to be the ‘olden days’ everyone seems to remember so fondly. But every time I come back to it, there’s a majority of stuff I’d rather skip than sit through during the none-Kurt focused season 2 stuff. OOps.

9. Season 3 Arc 3 (Eps 18-22). A lot of people like the end of the season. I think this starts the stuff I find really terribly bad. Finchel blows up. Will is getting teacher of the year. Nationals has literally no plot or tension. There’s virtually no Klaine. I realize this is my issue, because a lot of people don’t mind these episodes. But I just can’t. There are very few things that truly annoy me still about Glee. I’ve forgiven the break-ups and Blainofsky and the amount of Sue on the show, but I can’t forgive that damn Tongue Tied montage. Sorry.

10. Season 1 Front 13 (eps 1-13). Yes, I know, I know, this is Glee at its most classic. And people seem to be nostalgic for this time period for reasons I don’t fully understand. I’ll keep it simple. This is low on this list not because it’s bad but because I find it terribly boring. Everything to do with the adults is boring now that I’ve seen it a hundred times, and I honestly don’t want to go ever go back to it. **Shrug**

11. Season 4 The Nighttime Trilogy (eps 18-20) These episodes are very much not great, and kind of take away from a season that, while very messy, is pretty entertaining. Yes, I know why they’re here – behind the scenes forced them to change it up, and that ended up not going so well, but I feel like lifting these episodes out of season 4 makes the season better.

12. Season 3 Arc 1 (eps 1-8) Which should not be a surprise to anyone. Let’s get something straight – The First Time is a gem in a turd pile, and that’s because the story lines have virtually nothing to do with everything going on around it. These episodes are truly horrible, and have some of the worst story lines the show has to offer. Rory? Quinn going crazy? Shelby and Puck? Finn outing Santana? Mercedes being called lazy constantly? Sue and Beiste in a love triangle? These episodes are tedious to get through. I don’t even find Purple Piano Project as engaging as I used to. So when I say I can’t stand season 3 – this section is responsible for most of my distaste.

Alright.. so there you go, that’s how I feel. And as always, these are my opinions. I don’t expect anyone to agree, so just play nice, this is the internet after all <3

I’ll be doing this one for Two Witches Woven, since I just starting writing the first draft about a week ago! It’s the second book in the One Siren’s Soul series! (I don’t yet have an introduction up, but I’m working on that now.)

FIRST LOOK

1. Describe your novel in 1-2 sentences (elevator pitch).

The Diluculo's crew sets off to return the magical Siren's Soul to its true guardians, their voyage drawing the attention of a rather peculiar pirate captain as it leads them directly into the heart of siren territory. But that’s not all that hinders them: war rides on the tides, and it’s quickly coming in.

2. How long do you plan for your novel to be? (Is it a novella, single book, book series, etc.)

3. What is your novel’s aesthetic?

This book focuses a bit more on the Forest sirens than the first one did, but a lot is still the same.

4. What other stories inspire your novel?

Quite a darn lot! Of course, the major inspiration from movies was probably Pirates of the Caribbean. There’s also Avatar: The Last Airbender in there and How to Train Your Dragon and LOTS of Peter Pan and just. Lots.

But mostly it was inspired by my personal experience living on the coast and fishing/kayaking/hiking, and from my uni courses! Lots of marine biology and other science! And honestly. So much of my ideas are from music. Heck. Ah. Like, this song in particular was stuck on the wip playlist since the start, and for more epic stuff, all of the PotC soundtrack and epic instrumentals like this and this.

I wanted to include some ships and piratey stuff too but... only three. Auughh.

MAIN CHARACTER

6. Who is your protagonist?

Celestine, Dione, Caelin, Lá Lúa, and [spoiler] all have perspectives! But Celestine is kinda the main main character.

7. Who is their closest ally?

Uhhhh Phoenix? Maybe? Also someone Celestine doesn’t even remember~

8. Who is their enemy?

Technically the British Royal Navy! Although, Captain Ryans and Rose are pretty close to being the main antagonists.

9. What do they want more than anything?

Celestine just wants to live peacefully for once! Really! To stop having people chasing them for the bounty on their head, have plenty of time and materials for their machine building, maybe possibly get away with a bit of thievery. Is that so much to ask for?

Also! In this book, the main goal is getting a magical artifact called the Siren’s Soul back to the sirens who were supposed to be guarding it!

10. Why can’t they have it?

BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP CHASING THEM AND BEING ANNOYING (and also there’s some magic chaos going on that prevents it).

11. What do they wrongly believe about themselves?

Aww. Celestine believes that she’s bad luck. Everyone she’s come close to in the past have come to severe harm or have lost their lives, so she’s rather frightened of getting close to anyone new. Hence the belief that she wants to live in isolation, which is... really not true. Nor is it what she needs.

There’s. A lot! But as I said above, that belief that she’s bad luck versus several people getting close to her (and her desire to get close to them even though she’s trying to convince herself that’s not a thing). Celestine also has severe PTSD and has plenty of guilt towards her mother’s death, and her hydrophobia is especially prominent as an internal obstacle to what she wants to do.

14. What is the external conflict?

THERE’S A WHOLE HECKIN’ WAR? Between sirens and humans? And Celestine’s caught right in the middle of it. Oops. Also the selfishness and greed of humans when it comes to gaining magic from the sirens, and both parties being rife with fear and misunderstanding.

15. What is the worst thing that could happen to your protagonist?

Celestine really just does not want to lose someone else she’s close to. Being responsible for that would be the worst, though. c:<

I haven’t really decided on a specific place yet, but it takes place on an alternate Earth during the Golden Age of Piracy! The first book was in the Northern Atlantic off the coast of New Acadia (modern day Nova Scotia), but I think the second book (this one) will take place in the Caribbean!

Ooohhohhh yeah.

22. What excited you about this story?

I mean. Captain Xuân being my favourite character. Is a thing. They make a major appearance in this book. Also just! All sorts of new siren worldbuilding I get to reveal and cool magic stuff!

23. Tell us about your usual writing method!

I have a basic bullet point outline I’m working from, though I often stray from it. I write in order, and if I get stuck, I often find just writing the dialogue like a script is much easier, so I do that and skip parts I can’t write at that time and return to them later!

I have to basically always be listening to music while doing anything ever, so. It doesn’t always have to follow the theme or similar emotions to what I’m writing, but it can help with the mood if it does match!

hey. so, this person i follow wrote their first fic on ao3 (they're an artist originally), and they're unsatisfied with the amount of comments they were getting, so they decided to establish a quota for the comments. the more the comments come, the faster they post (it also decides if the fic will continue). i personally think its a stupid move, because the comments wont be genuine and that makes them useless, but i'm wondering how you'd feel about this matter.

I suppose I’m... on the fence with this subject.

On one hand, I agree with you. As a writer, I want the comments that my fics receive to be genuine and given freely because something about what I wrote brought joy to or really resonated with the reader. I don’t want readers to comment just because the dumb ol’ writer is making them. It’s definitely a cruddy feeling to receive comments that are mean, critical, or just lifeless, and it’s probably preferable for most people to just not have any comments at all if that’s the alternative.

But on the other hand, I can completely empathize with the writer. It’s probably come as a shock to them, the difference of attention/support that fanfic gets compared to fanart. I don’t think fanartists, especially the popular ones, understand just how little feedback fanfic writers (even the popular ones) receive from fandom.

I know I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: for content creators who are sharing their work completely for free, feedback is compensation for the time and effort they put in to creating a piece.

I don’t just want to say that and leave it there though, because I don’t think people really truly understand what I, and other content creators, mean when I say that.

So let’s do math.

I’m going to convert the time/effort I put in to writing a fic and the “compensation” I received for it into a real, paying job. And I’m absolutely terrible at math and haven’t done it in YEARS so if I make mistakes, please forgive me I’m very stupid.

Let’s take a one shot I’ve written recently: Oops

Now... there’s no real way for me to know just how many single readers read this fic to the end and liked it. According to AO3, this fic got 1171 hits on it. But dozens, maybe hundreds, of those hits could have been from people who didn’t manage to read to the very end. Even more of them could have been repeat views from the same reader. So it’s impossible for me to take hits and equate them to satisfied “customers”.

Instead, let’s use kudos. Kudos are evidence that a person made it to the end of the fic and at least enjoyed it enough to reward it that extra click. Does EVERY reader who enjoyed my fic give kudos? No, of course not. I’m sure many readers don’t even spare the second to do that, regardless of how much they liked reading my story.

Oops received 174 kudos. So, out of the 1171 hits that my story got, only 174 of them decided to let me know that they made it to the end and enjoyed it. With this information, if all those hits were one individual person, only about 14.6% of the readers of this fic actually made it to the end/liked it enough to let me know.

Oops only received 22 comments. Twenty-two comments from twenty separate readers.

Out of the 1171 hits that this story got, only 1.7% of them decided to comment.

Out of the 174 that gave kudos, only 11.5% left a comment.

These are itty bitty numbers.

But, they’re still numbers. And we are writers/readers. Not... math-ers. So let’s convert this into something we aaaaaall understand.

Money.

First, let’s calculate how much comments/kudos are worth. After all, that feedback is technically a writer’s “pay”.

I could go into detail, rate comments different dollar amounts based on how long/detailed they are, but for the sake of me not wanting to do more work than I already am... let’s just assume every comment is worth exactly the same.

How does one calculate the worth of a single comment? I suppose it’s different for each content creator, some put more value on comments and others put less. Comments are little things, however, and they don’t pay any bills or get a pizza delivered to my house in the middle of the night, so let’s say that each comment is valued at about... 5$.

I don’t even look at kudos, usually, but I know others do, so instead of leaving them worthless, like I think they are, let’s value them at a lowly... ehhh... 1$.

Okay. So, with these values, Oops made 110$ off of comments and 174$ off of kudos. Altogether, this single story made 284$.

If we want to measure this against the length of the fic, which is 19,248 words long... that’s about oh... roughly 1.4 cents per word.

That’s kind of a difficult thing to visualize, though, so let’s convert that into an hourly wage instead.

I don’t know the exact amount of time it took for me to brainstorm, write, edit this story, but it was at least a few (3-4) weeks. Five days a week, I wake up any time between 8-11 am and I write until sometime between 4-9 pm. For efficiency’s sake, let’s put my daily labor hours at... 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. Let’s take out an hour for “lunch” (actually procrastination). That’s, on average, an 8 hour working day. (holy crap I have no life)

8 hours a day for five days a week for roughly 3-4 weeks is the labor that went into creating Oops. Now, because I do work on multiple projects at a time, I’ll round down for the actual number of days that it took to complete. Instead of somewhere between 15-20 days, let’s say... 13.

So. 8 hours a day for 13 days comes out to be 104 hours altogether that I spent working on the various stages of completing Oops.

So I technically “got paid” 284$ for 104 hours of labor.

That comes out to be roughly 2.73$ an hour.

Minimum wage in my state is 7.25$ an hour.

I got paid less than half the minimum wage to write this single story.

But here’s the kicker.

In a real life situation where I was working an actual paying job, my pay would be money coming out of my employer’s profit. It’s a genuine give and take relationship where I have given my labor and taken my pay. Whereas my employer has taken my labor and given me my pay. We both gain and lose in our exchange.

In the exchange between me and the readers who consume my stories, I give my labor and take my tiny pay. Whereas the reader takes my labor and chooses whether or not they give me my pay.

I both gain and lose but the reader merely gains.

Readers have already 100% profited off of the writer’s labor the second they finish reading the fic and their kudos/comment don’t diminish that profit in the slightest. It’s not like taking the few seconds/minutes to type out a comment removes a couple paragraphs of the story from the reader’s memory.

There’s not a single reason why every person who reads and enjoys a story shouldn’t comment on it, giving back to the writer, who busted their ass to provide that content to you.

It takes only seconds, maybe minutes if you really put effort and passion into it, and it means the world to writers. It motivates us to write more. To write faster. To keep writing and sharing at all.

If you’re reading a fic and not commenting on it, then you’re taking and taking and taking selfishly from someone who only wants words as compensation and that’s like... you know... shitty.

So while I agree that putting a quota on comments may come off as unreasonable or aggressive in readers’ eyes... I also applaud that writer for having the confidence to demand what they deserve as a content creator. And if readers respected and gave just a tiny fraction of what writers give them with every chapter/fic they post... that writer would never have felt the need to make their request in the first place.

I hope this answer doesn’t come off as an accusation of you, Anon. For all I know, you might be one of the few readers that always leaves a glowing comment on my fics. If you’re not... then brO WHERE WERE YOU? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD I WORK? JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU LIKED ABOUT THE STORY AND MOVE ON HOLY CRAP IT’S NOT THAT HARD.

Okay, okay, this is needlessly long and stupid and full of numbers and gross math that I most likely BOTCHED and I probably totally wasted my time but hey, thank you for the ask. I really enjoy being given these subjects on which I can reflect and share my view.

real quick before I get into season 6

So this is my second time watching Season 6 and I’m p. excited. This last week or so I’ve been dredging up bits and pieces, but most of it is a blur. It seems the memories that lasted this whole year were mostly of the huge armored truck and the nonbinary character who works at *spoilers*’s tech startup.

I’m curious to see if the second time through it’ll settle in like it belongs. I remember Season 5 really didn’t make any sense to me until I saw it again.

But really I’m just excited that in 11 hours I can watch the new stuff?!

But first, before I forget, here’s my last thoughts on Season 5.

So remember how I was surprised at Season 1′s structure, that it folded up nicely down the middle with some pretty tidy symmetry?

None of the other seasons do that.

Instead, I remember particularly strongly how jarring the end of the Ghost Rider arc was in the middle of Season 4. And then again when the (what I’m calling) Kasius arc also wrapped up mid-season.

I’m not sure when I read about it, but it probably was circa Ghost Rider, that they’d intentionally decided on what I’m pretty sure they called “pods” of episodes, these seasons-within-a-season sort of narratives.

Season 2 sort of kicks it off, what with the race to Terragenesis taking eps 1-10 and the Afterlife/splinter SHIELD stories filling 11-22. Then Season 3 has the monolith/Maveth mystery to start, followed by Hive & the Inhumans for the second half. S4 is super poddy, obviously branded as Ghost Rider/Agents of Hydra, and S5 also splits neatly into future!Lighthouse and present day!Lighthouse.

Two points to make on this:

Kasius is such a rockstar villain that I feel really bad for Hale/Ruby/Talbot. They’re so apples and oranges but having the highlight come first allows for unfavorable comparisons to be made. It’s like asking any well-to-do Kree to compare Xandarian snail to oops all berries.

Good thing they’d had all this practice writing complete stories in 12 eps, since I’m hoping Season 6 (and obvs Season 7) will still feel as fully formed as their longer antecedents.

Anyway, that first point is my major point for S5.

S3 already feels like the second half of S2, and its internal halves are the most similar to each other as any of the other “pods,” so it’s not like people have a reason to go around saying “I liked the first half of the season waaay better than the second.”

And S4, though the two halves are barely identifiable as coming from the same show much less the same season, they’re both good. Robbie Reyes is perfect. The effort to incorporate new MCU topics/aesthetic from Doctor Strange is great. Robots who just want to be a real girl is my JAM. All the Framework cameos really make my day! And then Robbie Reyes comes back all deus ex machina (ironic) and saves the day, and

it makes sense that he does because the function and nature of the Darkhold was well established in part 1 and

it’s GREAT that he does because he’s perfect and we miss him.

Then here comes S5. I really really respect so much about the creative decisions that took the story where it went (ie, outside Papa MCU’s sphere of interference), and getting to reuse the same set in a different context while minimizing “on-location” shoots is just technical and financial genius, okay.

But there’s so much about the first half, in the future, that compels me waaaaaaay more than the gritty anger of the second half.

Kasius, WOW what a villain. Dominic Rains, everyone. I have nothing unkind to say about the performance, the character, anything. Impeccable. Spectacular. Perfection.

The mystery of the season opener! We had the tag scene where Coulson’s “in space” and plenty of time to ruminate on the how and why, especially with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 coming out right as S4 ended and Thor: Ragnarok literally sizzling in the theaters at the same time as this season started. They answer the question by the end of the episode, but not before several characters come up with and pursue several different theories, and that’s fun.

What a way to capitalize on the Inhuman storyline your show’s been about for years now, without forcing Papa MCU to contend with all this good work you’ve been doing. Just go somewhere he can’t reach you (the future), and then un-write all of it anyway. V. tidy. Extra style points will be awarded.

LEITMOTIFS. If y’all’ve seen BSG, then you know Bear McCreary is a master of the art. But this season has so many good themes, my friends. The Daisy/Quake theme that’s been knocking around for a season is here in full force, and Sinara’s is the best bad guy theme you could have wanted, and dearest sweetest Flint has the best great guy theme you ever heard.

Just, while we’re here. Sinara. She says nothing for episodes (it feels like, I wasn’t counting) and her first line is a scornfully growled “compassion.” Give it up for Florence Faivre !!! She hardly has any lines but you always know exactly what she’s thinking and what she’s about. Sinara and Kasius have the richest on-screen chemistry of anybody on any show from any era fight me on this I dare you.

Mack’s coming down from his second life in the Framework, and that suuuuucks that these folks never have a moment to rest before barreling into their next story. But he gets to be a father to Flint! And Yo-Yo gets to be a mother!!! UGH why couldn’t they have brought Flint instead of Deke lololol oh well.

I think I know another reason why Lincoln seems overhyped to me. That other Inhuman, Ben I think his name is? He’s in like two episodes, serves a narrative purpose, and is disposed. I know Lincoln’s in like 18 times as many episodes but they have the same exact overall impact on my brain-hole. Imagine if it was Ben that came back with them instead of Deke. That’s how I feel about Lincoln. Like, how did this obviously disposable character make it this far?

Then you have Deke. You love to hate him. He’s a very well-fashioned character who is flawless in making you feel the way the showrunners want you to feel. That’s the kind of character that gets killed off twice and still comes back, and it doesn’t surprise you.

So, Enoch. Enoch is everyone’s favorite character, right? Right. Give me genderless robots with a soft spot for humanity ANY DAY. PLEASE where are they I need them. (I’m un-repressing memories of S6 and I feel like somehow I should be careful what I wish for) Man I remember with 1000% clarity the absolute glee I felt sitting down for the opening montage of S5 the first time, how ballsy weird it was, just watching this freaky bald alien of a man go swimming with some fun electro pop number playing in the background. 100/10 please make more television like this

More monoliths!! The time one is so pretty!

The low-key obvious answers to the season’s questions, what with the Inhumans running all over the shop, Quake there to tear everything down and Flint there to put the pieces back together I’m not crying you’re crying

Oh man, and Simmons getting to mentor not one but two Inhuman youths to be confident and trust in themselves and their powers. What a ways from the fear-panic response to Daisy when she turned.

Also, yeah, it has to be said, this show’s blatant “you’re different and that’s okay” agenda sits very well with me. Agents of SHIELD says LGBTQ+ rights!

So anyway, part 2 falls a little flat for me because its strength is its themes, but I’m not really compelled by the stakes and definitely not by the villains and not really even by the intra-team drama.

Obviously S2 touched on parenthood, but it was pretty specific. S5 digs in and brings us a lot more on the topic.

Kasius desperately desires his father’s approval but very deeply despises the methods and the people who earn it.

Hale was indoctrinated by Hydra and was very earnest in wanting to uphold the values of the organization, until the organization (and Whitehall) shared with her their narrow appreciation of the gift of her loyalty. Even then, she struggles to make sense of this loyalty, only realizing too late that being a good Hydra pawn and a good parent are categorically mutually exclusive.

Ruby, obviously, is like a mini-Kasius, the brave-faced rebel who wears her mother’s disappointment on her sleeve like a badge of honor to pretend that it isn’t crippling her.

The Von Strucker kid, boy is he messed up (and his Hydra dad had something to do with it)

((echos of Ward are still heard even this far after his demise, and we know what his father figures were like))

Poor Talbot, got some brain damage and some Hydra conditioning on top of that, cracked that noggin wide open. He just wanted to do good by his family. Just wanted his son to know he loves him.

Polly and Robin. The daughter who needs constant special care because she’s stuck inside her own mind and the mother who’s been through hell and back and still manages to do her best. Even when she knows she won’t always be there for her daughter. Even when she knows she’ll be replaced.

May getting a glimpse at the life she and Andrew once talked about. Getting a chance to do right by that little girl.

Mack recovering from getting that same glimpse, from the echoing memories of a life time spent with his greatest regret erased. Being roped into being a thug and threatening that dad without knowing the meaning behind his threat -- being told that people like him don’t deserve the privilege of parenthood. But then getting to know Flint, and having Yo-Yo at his side while they fast track this kid through all the things he’s gonna need to know in order to be the Big Damn Hero the world needs him to be.

The timey-wimey promise that FitzSimmons will one day be parents to a brilliant daughter who will unfortunately give birth to a Deke.

Coulson and Daisy. Another parent placing enormous expectations on his daughter, desperate that she be ready for his responsibilities because his time is running out. A daughter who mishandles these expectations and refuses to stop fighting a losing battle, not because she’s not ready to step up, but because she doesn’t want to face the fact that she’s losing the man who raised her.

Anyway, aside from all this good Theme work, part 2 wades perfunctorily through musty remnants of the previous season, from The Doctor to The Russian. Which makes sense, because that season ended in a way that left so many loose threads -- but then this season comes along and summarily ties them up, all cute little bows, the lot of them. Dusts its hands. Nothing to see here. Move along now. Time’s up.

2. When you’re writing a new story, what is the one thing you need to know before you can start?

This is gonna sound so like “duh bitch” but I always need to know AT LEAST how I want it to end. Or like the almost-end. Bc it’s like if you know where you want to go then you can figure out how to build up to that moment.

They always say it’s not abt the destination, but the journey. But like in this case, you need to know the destination to figure out the journey oop--

3. How do you know when a scene is “done”?

This is gonna sound so vague but like... when I feel like it’s complete? Like when I think it’s served its purpose in the fic.

In theatre, every single scene has a purpose in building up to the climax & resolution, so I always try to make sure that each scene has served its purpose in moving the plot along/gives you something for a later plot point.

4. How do you know when a chapter is “done”?

Ummm... I try to end it at a good point. Honestly this is the hardest for me because I always want to end it at a good point but also where it feels like the equivalent of a half-cadence in music (it doesn’t feel complete).

That’s like my best explanation.

5. How do you know when a story is “done”?

I think my story is done when I’ve neatly wrapped up the plot to my liking while also leaving as little loose ends as possible.

This is a boring answer lmao but it’s really my best explanation.

6. Where do your titles come from?

Most of my titles come from songs that my fics remind me of. I try to make it be like ~poetic~ bc I can’t come up w titles from the pits of my brain but I can def try to find the perfect song lyric LOL

7. How do you feel about prologues?

I feel like it’s really useful for setting some background info that you want to reference but don’t actually want to explain in the main story LOL but it’s def not necessary

8. How do you feel about epilogues?

Another thing that I feel is def not necessary but sometimes you want a little “what happens next?”...as a treat

9. Do you tend to have an external narrator or use one of the characters?

I like the idea of using a limited POV, so I like to use one of the characters for narration. Bc in my opinion it’s a little much when you’re like spending so much time being ~omniscient~ but that’s just my opinion.

10. Does your narrator move from character to character?

Ummm honestly it depends for me. Like for me it’s like...if the story calls for it in my heart.

I usually like to keep it to one character unless I’m planning a more complex story that calls for a lot of different POVs!

11. What punctuation do you love too much?

Bruh... Commas, semicolons and this bitch (–) are my holy grail I feel like I’m the queen of run-on sentences.

12. What punctuation do you hate with a passion?

Okay I don’t HATE them but I really don’t like the overuse!!!!! of exclamation points!!!!!! I use them a lot when I’m just posting about stuff I’m really passionate about like that’s cute I just am not too crazy about that in like prose & creative writing. I wouldn’t say it’s a pet peeve, per se, but it’s just not my cup of tea :/

13. What grammar tends to cause problems when you’re writing?

Idek what this means but like I guess I struggle with writing verbs in the right POV bc, like I said, I'm the queen of run on sentences so I tend to lose focus on what’s the subject of the sentence.

14. What’s the one word you can never spell/use properly, no matter how hard you try?

I am actually illiterate so I always end up misspelling words ALL the time just bc like my brain will turn off. I used to use the word “futile” incorrectly all the time but once I like actually found out how to use it correctly, I’ve been pretty good :0

15. How do you write a really good metaphor?

16. What is your best piece of advice for writing angst scenes?

If you are HURTING by the time you’re done with it, you did it right. When I write angst, I know it’s good if my heart hurts by the end of it LOL

Kinda the same as 16, like it hurts but in a better way. This will probably also be the same as my answer for 22, but if it just makes you soft, you’re doing well.

Soft & hurt is the combo you need for that.

18. What is your best piece of advice for writing comedy scenes?

I like to share these scenes with people (beta readers, friends, etc.) and see how they receive them. Even if they don’t laugh like SUPER HARD, I think it’s worth keeping if they make positive comments and they say stuff like “That’s a mood.” or “I related to that hard.” bc in my humble opinion that’s good enough for me.

I’m working on a Trashmouth comedy special series, and I literally just read the skits to my friends and see what lands and what doesn’t.

I just like to treat any comedy scene as a comedy skit. Just see what lands !

19. What is your best piece of advice for writing action scenes?

Oh man, I don’t do a lot of those, so I don’t really have much advice for that :( maybe in like a year I’ll have something for that lollll

20. What is your best piece of advice for writing smut scenes?

Now I’m no expert on doing the dirty, but I did read up on how to write like...good sex scenes....and a lot of the sources say to (in my own words) overload on thought and emotion.

Like honestly I don’t read smut for the sex (I mean like.... I get hype when my ship gets nasty but that’s beside the point), I read it to see how someone comes undone for their lover and I think that’s IMPORTANT. Tbh anyone can write sex, but like I need that connection.

21. What is your best piece of advice for writing romance scenes?

Overload on that thought and emotion, dude. Make your heart THROB. I like to make this a matter of building tension and setting the release. Like no I will not be giving you that kiss yet bc that’s too easy. Build it up a little bit.

22. What is your best piece of advice for writing fluff scenes?

If you read it and you feel like you might explode from how much these characters love each other, you are doing amazing, sweetie.

23. How do you balance your characters in an ensemble story?

I like to list out the primary, secondary, and side characters and figure out where they come in the story, what the relationships are, what purpose they serve the plot, stuff like that.

In a theatre standpoint (obviously), any character in a play has their own purpose and without even one of them, you can’t wrap that story up neatly. Like in Ancient Greek plays, even the smallest part played an integral part in moving the plot along.

24. How do you balance your characters when there are only a two or three in a story?

I like to think about what purpose each character serves in the story. I also like to think about whether this story revolves around one character, or if it delves into each character’s story and they kind of intertwine. Maybe they’re family or a team or roommates, or maybe they’re strangers whose lives are connected in some way if you wanna take that route.

I think when there are so little characters, you get more room to make them their own people. And you have that possibility of making it a collection of stories that come together without making it so confusing.

I think about that in, like, a theatre standpoint obviously.

25. How do you create an original character?

AAA I’ve never really made an OC but honestly I like to think it’s like making a sim LOL I’m so sorry to EVERYONE who’s ever made an OC.

I don’t even remember was my OC building process was like when I wrote original stories in, like, middle school.

26. How do you go about world building?

Oof ok I��ve been writing fanfic for as long as I can remember so that’s kinda cheating a little bit LOL it’s self explanatory.

But in the few original stories I’ve written (and honestly even when I write for some AUs), I base a lot of things on my own reality. So like people I know, places I like to go to, events that have taken place in my lifetime, they’re like the template, and depending on the nature of this world (realistic, fantasy, modern, futuristic, etc), that’s like how I’ll mold it to be part of that world.

27. Do you try to do most of your research ahead of writing (when research is necessary) or do you do it as things come up?

Honestly, I research things as they come up because things are always gonna come up. I’m constantly coming up with little things I can add into my fics, and I like to try all my ideas to see if they work with the story. I don’t want to scrap an idea just bc it’s not in my archive of research.

I also think when you get too wrapped up in technicalities, you lose focus of the actual story, so I like to jump in and do all my fact-checking as I go along!

28. How do you make sure your plot points are there while also making them blend in with the story?

This is something that I’m still figuring out because I’m just now getting back into writing longer fics, but I think as long as you make them fit in a way that they serve the plot or they play into one of your characters’ motives then it’s a good plot point!

30. How do you edit your stories?

This is gonna sound so extra, but I rewrite ALL OF IT from the beginning. When I do this, it really helps me figure out how to write thing in a more efficient and effective manner.

And I cannot stress this enough, beta readers are SO useful. You can do all of the proofreading you want, but someone who’s reading your writing will probably catch more spelling and grammar mistakes honestly. Also, they can give you insight on what might need more development, what might not make as much sense, and what really isn’t that necessary.
