Hi friend!! I was just wondering if you will ever have merch similar to your SDV stuff for Fields of Mistria? I love FoM and your art so much!! Either way, thanks so much for your time! š„°š„°
so i've gotten this question a few times, and i keep meaning to answer it - so let's do that now!!
in short: yes, i'd LOVE to make fields of mistria merch in the future!!
as of right now though, i personally don't feel comfortable profiting from an indie game 1) before the game is officially fully released, but more importantly 2) before they share a clear merch policy.
i might make a couple things for myself, and then make those available if NPC studios ever allow fanmerch - so if you have any suggestions of what you'd like to see, you're always more than welcome to send them my way & i'd be happy to take them into consideration!!! (āĀ“ā”`ā)
(and thank you SO much for your interest in the first place!! š„ŗš)
#answers#sharpe-teeth#fields of mistria#this is *ENTIRELY* just a personal stance!!#i cast no judgement on anyone making/buying fom merch right now - i just won't be participating until we get clarification!#hopefully it'll be a yes because i need to make physical blorbos#and i need to own anything and everything with hayden's face on it š PLS

love ur human loop, most normal and deranged guy ever, other people drawing human loop in elaborate outfits, meanwhile loop in a big t- shirt and boxers (not to say im not a fan of elaborate outfits on them but like The Contrast (tm))
no literally like dgmw i love loop in Outfits and will probably draw that at some point soon but like. to me post-canon loop is like. a guy who is convinced they are living in the epilogue of their successful cloneās life. Eventually they will slay but itās gonna take like three years of therapy and probably a considerable amount of lexapro. for now itās depression fit
#first drawing is from last night second is just now#btw air fryer shirt is a real thing that i own. i found it thrifting it is incomparably the best thing i own. i would give it to loop. mayb#isat#isat spoilers#loop#au#technically#also please no one interpret my dogged clinging to canon compliant characterization as judgement of anyone who does not#this is just how i do things. mostly bc its funnier to me that way#art#askbox#abilify would fix this dude as well. oh my god i forgot to schedule my psych appointment#pls donāt tag as bdy hrrr btw thanks

Best thing about being an author is that I get to treat lust and sexual affection with the same mythicisation and glorification that is usually reserved for love and romance.
And absolutely no one can stop me. I can do whatever I want.

why tua s1 is a masterpiece and 2-4 give me a migraine
i gotta use my english degree for something so lets talk about it
iād like to note beforehand, that iāve only seen about half of season 4. but given everything iāve heard about it, iāve decided to avoid watching it for my own mental wellbeing. i really havenāt enjoyed the last three seasons much, mostly iāve been dredging through because of how much i love season 1. it feels painfully like seasons 1 and seasons 2-4 are for completely different fucking showsāparticularly in tone.
i think tua season 1 attracted attention to its unique themes that are lost in the rest of the series. the primary themes are of trauma and dysfunctional family dynamics. itās a story about seven severely abused siblings learning to cope with their trauma and reconnect as adults. season 1ās tone is somber. it shows us glimpses of the charactersā childhoods, and how it affects them in their adult lives. the characters in season 1 were, most importantly, flawed! they were assholes, because trauma turns people into assholes sometimes!Ā
you can directly trace back the siblingsā character flaws to the shit reggie put them through. Luther was the golden boy, which put too much responsibility on his shoulders and isolated him from his siblings. As a result, Luther is ultra-loyal to his dead father, in obvious denial of the abuse he endured because he was never able to form an identity for himself outside of reggie and the academy! he is the only one that never moved on. and then reggie turned luther into (for lack of a better term) a giant monkey without his consent, causing him to hate himself and even further alienate himself from the rest of the world.Ā
diego never left the ānumber 2ā headspace. he fights with luther even into adulthood. despite how much he claims to hate his father, he became a vigilante likely as an effort to finally be good enough for his dad. and lets not forget (unlike the writers) about his stutterāsomething that formed in childhood and came back as an adult when he was triggered with memories of his childhood. heās inherently defensive because reginald pit the siblings against one another constantly.
allison is a narcissistāthough, when we meet her in season 1, sheās more of a narcissist in recovery. sheās recognized how her childhood affected her and wants to become a better person to make up for the mistakes of her past. what mistakes again? well, she used her powers on her daughter because 1. she was never told no. reggie encouraged the usage of her powers, and the household where she grew up was violent, manipulative, and competitive. she had no sense of real normalcy, so she never learned how to build a happy, healthy family for her daughter. to cope with her trauma, she clung to her fameāthis is shown both in adulthood and childhood flashbacksāleading her to become a movie star, and not accept her own faults.
klaus, well, klaus is the most obvious example of trauma. mostly due to reggie forcing his powers on him when he was a young childhood. locking him in a mausoleum for hours on end. he became a drug addict as a result. living on the streets, in and out of rehab, and stealing for money. we see him struggle constantly throughout season 1āthrough his interactions with ghosts (when its very possible he wouldnāt have developed such a fear of them if it werenāt for reggie), with flashbacks to his childhood and (later) to the vietnam war. his inability to take things seriously and his self-destructive behavior are both coping mechanisms. his siblings donāt trust him because of his lying and kleptomaniac tendencies.
five is a character whose development is utterly abandoned after season 1. he was only thirteen years old when he accidentally travelled in time to the apocalypse, where he remained for 45 years. i remind you of this because the writers wonāt. he survived those years for his family! because he felt immeasurable guilt for leaving them! he was so lonely for these years that he developed a romantic attachment to a mannequin (something only referenced for a joke in later seasons). he was in an extremely vulnerable position when he was recruited by the handler (a character who was very creepy in her own right) and he was forced to use his childhood āsuperheroā skillset to essentially become an assassin, a job he loathed himself for. all so he could have a chance to save his family. five is cocky, sarcastic, and yes, wants to save the world, but we forget that he wanted to save his family first. he was willing to sacrifice the world if it meant saving his siblings. and even once he returns to the present, he experiences ptsd flashbacks to his time in the apocalypse. five is severely traumatized and stuck between childhood and adulthood, has lived for far too long and has done too many terrible things to be a child, but is stuck in a childs body and never got the chance to emotionally mature past the age of 13. this in no way resembles the five we get in later seasons.
in season 1, ben is a tragedy. he is the character that haunts the narrative (literally). his death was the reason the family split up. he experienced an incredibly traumatic childhood, forced to slaughter people against his will. all so that he could die tragically young (weāll get into his cause of death later). heās stuck following klaus around for years, unable to interact with anyone else. he watched his brother deteriorate in front of him with no way to help. heās angry about his death and sometimes takes out his frustrations on klaus. but at the same time, he was āthe kindestā of all the siblings. he cares deeply about his family, but canāt do anything about it.
i think itās easy to forget that the initial focus of the show was viktor. viktor, who was told how unremarkable he was again and again. who was isolated not just from the world but from his own family as well. who was drugged up from an incredibly young age and forced to ignore his emotions. yes, the umbrella academy was abusive. but being isolated from his siblings was just another form of abuse. he grew up to resent his family on a lot of levels, writing his book as a method to vent his frustrations but only ended up in driving his siblings further away. viktor went through a lot of shit in season 1, and resulted in him ending the world. but did his family kill him? no. because that was the point of the entire show. that despite their trauma and how much they might resent one another, the siblings still loved each other more than the rest of the world put together.Ā
everything ive outlined are the elements that make up season 1, and are almost entirely forgotten about later. but by losing the integrity of the characters, they lost the narrative. the point of the umbrella academy was never saving the worldāit was about a broken family reconciling with one another despite everything. these points of trauma are taken seriously. it was the complexity of these characters, at least in my opinion, that attracted attention towards them. and sure, we didnāt love every character all the time. remember how much luther was hated in season 1? but itās because he was realistic. these characters, and the shit they went through, werenāt a joke. and the season ended off in a way that forshadowed these elements being explored more in depth. remember how it ended?
with the seven siblings holding hands as the world exploded around them. and for only a few seconds, we saw them transform back into their child selves.
now, this plot point (whatever it might have been) was instantly cancelled and forgotten about in season 2. but it really makes you think about the season we could have gotten: the characters being forced back into their childhood, having to confront the root of their trauma and essentially, all their problems. they could look back at what happened to them with a mature perspective and worked through it, realizing that they were not each otherās enemies. they could have made up for lost time, helped eachother heal, and ultimately prevent the apocalpyse by being family. you know, something that would have actually wrapped up the narrative nicely.
so, what happened?
the shows original themes of trauma, and repentance, and family were abandoned in favor of humor and spectacle. it seems like the creators misinterpreted what made the first season so successful. sure, the first season had a lot of funny moments and great fight scenes. but it was the emotional depth and complexity that made the show what it was. but worse than that, it continued to spit in the faces of the characters trauma, downplaying it in almost every way possible.
klausā relapses were played for comedy. his fear of ghosts was drastically downplayed with the use of cartoonish ghost-buster ass looking ghosts. fiveās ptsd was never acknowledged again; his coping mechanism, dolores, became a joke. luther lost all character complexity entirely, instead becoming a himbo (who we love, but, still). viktor rarely brought up the feelings from his childhood, and nobody acknowledged his tell-all book again.
one of the things that infuriated me the most was the incorporation of reginald in later seasons. lets remind ourselves of some things: he purchased seven children, treated them like objects without names, trained them tirelessly and deprived them of a childhood, traumatized them by turning them into murderers, pitted them against one another, and literally tortured them. and thatās only the things we see him do on screen. you cannot convince me for a second that any of the siblings would ever be able to be the same room as that man without having serious flashbacks. I donāt believe for one second that theyād work with him, trust him, or empathize with him in any capacity (except maybe luther) except they do, consistently. even five, who is easily the smartest member of the academy, and extremely protective of his siblings.
and- LEST WE FUCKING DISREGARD- reginald MURDERED ben.
the moment that happened on screen felt like the last shovel of dirt on tua 1ās grave. supposedly all the siblings REMEMBERED this incident in seasons 1-3. and yet they went to their fathers funeral, spoke to him (relatively) civilly, and teamed up with him after seeing for themselves their father shoot their brother in the back of the head for seemingly no reason. not only did they apparently not hold this against their father, but they never mentioned it once in three seasons.
and yes, i know, there is a very simple reason for this. it was obviously made up at the last moment for plot convenience. but the implications for this being retconned in are damning for the characters. by writing this in, the writers decided that the siblings commitment to one another is meaningless. that the foundations upon which this show was created, are fucking meaningless. they threw away not only the individual complexity of each character, but also their relationship as a family.
#this is a thesis lmao#obviosuly no judgement to people who enjoyed seasons 1-4#i watched all of supernatural i get it#i miss the era of fanfic after season 1#if anyone has any fanfic recs pls let me know lmao#the umbrella academy#tua#umbrella academy#umbrella academy s4#tua s4#tua spoilers#tua s4 spoilers#luther hargreeves#diego hargreeves#allison hargreeves#klaus hargreeves#five hargreeves#number five#ben hargreeves#viktor hargreeves

re-reading network effect and jeez Amena and Ratthi are the biggest Murderbot/ART (platonic or otherwise) shippers of all of us. The bathroom scene for one, and all the times Amena played inbetween the two (omg the scene when MB is like 'I want to talk to ART alone' and Amena is like '...about your relationship???' and when she was explaining to ART how MB reacted to it's 'death' like come on) and towards the end when Ratthi is desperately trying to get MB to understand that ART threatened to kill a bunch of people for it and Thiago is like 'we don't really got to talk about this :/' and Ratthi just gets louder.
They are so personally invested in Murderbot and ART's ~~~'mutual administration assistance'~~.

Someone just said Outlander, which I remember mentioned somewhere as SJM's favourite book, is a perfect example for 'SA used for aesthetics'. It's all starting to make sense now.

I'd probably have to read the printed version and web version back to back at some point to note all the differences but... ough
#sorry i'm going to be excited about this comic for the next month#nofna#okay having finished this now--#and sorry if this doesn't make sense to anyone who's completely unfamiliar with this comic in advance-#the 'popcorn ending' (printed version) is nice to see but i think the web version hits harder. if that makes sense#so i'm kinda tied on which ending i 'prefer'- i think both are good though#also considering i've read the web version a good 4-5 times and the printed version only once- i probably can't make that judgement yet#easy answer- i do like Nutsedge :] so it's nice to see the ending where nothing bad happens to her#but also- NT suddenly becoming a greenie-esque villain out of nowhere felt a little jarring#as well as SV suddenly turning a corner and becoming a 'good guy' (arguable)- considering the first three books are about#/him being too stubborn to change or accept any outside worldviews . Him suddenly coming to his senses felt out of place#<- probably biased because i like characters being bitter to the end and ultimately destroyed by their own hubris#the web version is probablyā objectivelyā a bit better#but -#(spoilers- if you're planning to drop ~70 bucks on getting these books)#the conceit of SV actually perfecting his styleā using it onceā and then immediately getting tooth-brained- was pretty cool#assuming it's meant to parallel him spending months tormented by trying to perfect it while something's still missing-#and then dying before he can narrate it to the audienceā so that we never know what he figured out.#hard to articulate these thoughts but tl;dr- popcorn ending also had a lot to think about

Nene getting angrier and angrier explaining that there are PokĆ©mon who can harness power equivalent to a nuclear bomb and thereās a PokĆ©mon that is literally god and a PokĆ©mon who embodies death and and and vs an increasingly defensive tsukasa who refuses to back down and just keeps going āyeah but itās a lot of lionsā

There was a lot of destructive criticism surrounding My Marvellous Dream is You, but I actually thought the series was quite good despite its shortcomings. I'm a lot more forgiving than most when it comes to Thai GL series, and that will have absolutely affected my viewing experience. But... every time I would see a comment that just read "This is boring/terrible/stupid" without ever elaborating, I felt very much like Khun Pu's character from Be My Favorite hehe
*WARNING*: There will be minor spoilers for the final episode of My Marvellous Dream is You, should that be something you wish to avoid.
I will be the first to admit, that I was very skeptical about this series in the first handful of episodes. So let's just get my personal negatives out of the way first... I think, by now, it's no secret that I do not support where a lot of Thai GL adaptations source from. So, this series already had an admittedly disadvantaged subjective expectation from the get go. It wasn't really surprising to see pacing issues within the first 5ish episodes, that seems to be a common occurrence in Thai GLs produced by IDOLfactory. Whether that is a result of the novels the series have thus far been adapted from OR from a choice in direction is up to you. I, personally, think it's a bit of both. Where I believe certain productions struggle in letting their narratives breathe, I find the complete opposite problem to be true with IDOLfactory. There were a lot of plot points that needed restructuring or to be removed entirely in order to have a stronger cohesive story that focused on the main characters' relationship more so than it did.
Now, while I stand behind my opinion that the series could have benefited from tighter and better organized storytelling, a lot of the groundwork was there to make a decent character driven narrative. And that's what I've chosen to focus on. Wan and Kim are both deeply flawed characters. There were so many inferences to be drawn from character relevant visuals and their joint backstory that truly informed their current dynamic.
Thešš¾characteršš¾focusedšš¾visualsšš¾inšš¾thisšš¾show!!!
One of the most interesting parts of watching a series, for me, is having to pick up on certain character cues in order to understand andĀ delve deeper into the core of their behaviors.
Wan and Kim share a trauma, and it's easy to see how they both became so dependent on one another to fill the void their fathers left.
In flashbacks, Wan is presented as egoistic and headstrong since high school. She is also shown to be extremely protective of Kim before she even realizes her feelings. Kim, on the other hand, is a bit more sensitive. She cherishes Wan's attention and affection to a point where she would be willing to play a little dirty in order to keep it for herself.
All of these emotions become heightened once they are forced into adult life with adult problems. Wan is struggling with her mental health. While trying to balance fame and the repercussions her actions might have on her career, Wan must also deal with her mother's alcoholism... which has essentially caused her to check out from Wan's life. Her need to have Kim by her side, and never leave her, has become less protective and more possessive. Kim's desire for approval and affection has led to an over devotion of herself to Wan and constant worrying about disappointing her mother. She's neglected her own wants and needs for so long, that she's afraid putting herself first would be considered too selfish...too much like her dad. Her mother's cancer diagnosis further pushes Kim to continue to place her mother's wishes over her own desires. Even though comments about Wan and Kim being 'annoying' or 'frustrating' were aiming to be negative... they weren't exactly wrong. The audience was supposed to feel that way. Heck, even the surrounding characters called out their behavior on more than one occasion. Because in an effort to not lose one another, Kim and Wan fell into a cyclically unhealthy dynamic where their actions and reactions were actually pushing each other away. Their inability to communicate their true feelings to each other beyond their (unbeknownst) shared dreams prevented them from making any true progress toward a romantic relationship that they both so desperately wanted, but were each terribly afraid to pursue. Their feelings for each other were put up against the reality that their love being unreciprocated could spell the end of their relationship altogether. There was an added pressure of being unfairly compared to their fathers, where any romance between them might be found 'unacceptable'. Couple that with societal views of same-sex relationships, and you can understand why these two were so hesitant to reveal their truths.
(Quick sidenote: I did not agree with the idea that what Kim and Wan did was exactly the same to what their fathers did. They did not leave and abandon their families. Marwin didn't make it easy for them, and given the glimpse we saw into his family's cruelty, it made all the sense in the world to have him react in the way he did. Kim and Wan were at least willing to stay and face the hard consequences of their choice, no matter the outcome.)
I think them having to work through all of their issues made the moment of Kim and Wan finally deciding to be together that much more satisfying... And that was the point Kru A was trying to make when he explained his direction for their relationship on social media after hearing viewer feedback (He was subsequently rudely criticized by interfans for that decision, to the point where he alluded to the fact that he might take a break from directing... but that's a whole other discussion).
That final scene of them being married purposely not clarifying whether it was in a dream or in reality alluded to the fact that their shared dream world and their real life were no longer at odds, finally. I thought it was very fitting.
The frustration caused by KimWan's lack of communication reminded me of a similar dynamic between Team and Win in Between Us, a series that suffered from a lot of the same problems (not enough focus on the two leads and irrelevant plot points). However, those characters and the actors that portrayed them didn't receive even half the amount of negative reactions. They existed, trust me, but there were a lot of positive reviews to balance it out. I'm not going to get into what that means, because I think you can make the inference for yourself.
All in all, I don't think this series deserves to be completely written off. Is it perfect? No... but an effort was made, and it wouldn't hurt to make the effort in return to understand the vision. Fay and May did an incredible job for their first go around as main leads. And I hope they get the chance to develop their craft further.
#kimwan#wankim#my marvellous dream is you#dream the series#i urge anyone to give this series a fair shot before making any final judgements#koda watches gl

desperately need people to understand that alicent is a victim but sheās also an abuser and a perpetrator
that she actively makes choices to harm other women because of jealousy and envy and the greed deep in her bones because submitting to suffering didnāt get her what those women fight to grasp for themselves.
she is absolutely a victim, in show.
that doesnāt change that she abused rhaenyra and her children, her own son, most likely helaena given how she flinches every time her mother touches her, and is actively weaponizing the patriarchy of westeros against other women- rhaenyra primarily, but also mysaria and dyana.
she isnāt the moral, righteous force of good that even she thinks she is, sheās a wounded woman directing all of the rot, pain, and fury inside her at the wrong people and forces.
