finally, all the arm and spirit abilities- for the first half of the game (rauru) and for the second half with the shiekah arm replacing links arms instead and the spirit abilities gained through ganondorf
(please excuse my handwriting and sometimes repeated info on the first two, i lost motivation/patience at the end and couldnt get myself to basically redo it all from scratch just to make it a bit more cleaner)
note, the camera rune is unconnected to the arm, its the shiekah stone copy link has (zelda carries the one from botw, a copy was attempted to be made for link but it lacks all runes except the camera, the map and its teleportation, and journal/archive)
note for the heal effects of some spirit abilities- im also reworking the healing system, making it more like the older games, so healing isnt as easy and much more restricted, thus making those effects of spirit abilities more valuable ( lil potion icon on the d pad will act a little bit like in skyward sword, opens your limited selection of healing items and if chosen link switches to holding it and letting you consume it with -a- while walking around in real time- to avoid more pausing and mass healing on regular items while in menu)
additional note, the automatic recharging of the magic meter depending on the environment gives you a reliable but less abusable way of using abilities and allows for even more creative dungeon/challenge design by using it effectively- it works by absorbing magic from its surroundings, so if its an area with little magic it recharges slower, if its a very spiritual or healthy place it will recharge faster, it can be used to make things more challenging and also as subtle storytelling (example, theres a graveyard with the magic energy around being off the charts, even if there are no spirits to see, it could hint at the people buried not having died peacefully, no matter what their gravestone says...)
the usage of magic and how much the different abilities cost also allows for a much more dynamic fighting style for players to choose and try out, balancing them all out with their cost instead of a fixed timer, and the recharging beign affected by the environment perhaps forcing players that favor high cost magic abilities to use the lower cost ones for example, or not being able to charge one up bc the enemy is too fast and doesnt give you enough time to charge it
about half of the small overworld dungeons (not shrines) are also locked/inaccessible for the first half and new quests appear as the second half commences- together with the additional changes raurus return brings with it (sonau buildings, enemies being mostly cosntructs that he summoned etc) and whole set of new abilities giving you a fresh new way to play while (hopefully) not making you feel too restricted for the first half
... making these detailed concepts took me longer than id like to admit q-q

Love how every zelda has a special interest and that special interest saves the world.
#Like whether it's piracy or history of light magic or ninjas or technology or art zelda ALWAYS gets super interested in the one thing#That'll save her and the kingdom down the line. Like oot zelda 100% idolised impa and demanded to be taught shiekah techniques#And disguise only for those skills to become vital during the 7 years link was gone.#Tp zelda had the most knowledge of light magic it's history and applications and spirits by FAR and all of those enabled her to save midna#And summon light arrows#If ww zelda was sitting pretty on an island instead of roaming the seas with a loyal crew and several cannons link would have been screwed.#If botw zelda had been allowed to pursue her fascination with shiekah tech or even science as a whole who knows what they might have manage#Ganon might not have been able to take them over at all. She might have learned to channel her power through artifacts or learned to mimic#The energy flow of the shiekah magic which is directly derived from hylia/the tf of wisdom! She wouldn't have been stranded at the mountain#When ganon attacked if she hadn't been forced up there on her birthday. She could have outfitted the champions with better weapons that#Would have been more effective against the blights. She might have unlocked the slate or the shrines. She would have been more confident#And thus less abrasive with link. They would have been able to bond sooner and faster. Link would have been more relaxed and ready.#The shiekah might have been able to rework teleportation instead of 106 years late.#I am salty about rhoam banning her. It's pretty fun for me to play Zelda games in a manner mostly isolated from fandom opinions. Like don't get me wrong I've absorbed a lot of LOZ spoilers, headcanons, interpretations etc. via osmosis, I am not playing these games blind. But regardless of how many spoilers and fanart/fanfic I've seen going through the AO3 tag after playing BOTW was still an Experience because it made me realize that the way I interpret both Link as a character and the game as a whole is apparently completely counter to the majority fandom opinion. Something I was blissfully oblivious to while playing the game.

writing the isat botw au and its. a little revealing. that i just know the entirety of the great plateau by heart.
#my post#yeah. link wakes up gets the slate gets clothes climbs a small cliff and then is struck by the beauty of the world#and then he walks down a hill and talks to the old man and wanders and then goes to the tower#'Please watch for falling rocks.' and then while hes up there zelda tells him about calamity ganon and its been 100 years#and then the old man appears from nowhere and teaches you how to use the scope and not splat on the ground#and then link goes and doesnt splat on the ground. then the old man taunts him with the paraglider and asks him to get treasure#so link does the magnesis shrine. and then is taunted with the paraglider some more#then off to stasis. on the way is the old mans hut (and a lynel in ur in master mode) and he teaches you how to chop down trees#also you can read his diary and you can make a spicy meat and seafood dish to trade for the warm doublet#but its easier honestly to make warm food right before the cold and then go to his grave and get the doublet there#anyways u scale a cliff and do stasis. then WAIT I FORGOT ABT BOMBS. thats on the way to the old mans hut and its got guardians but you can#avoid them pretty easily by going around back the ruins along the cliff#itll probably be turning night when u get there and there are stalkoblins right in front of the shrine but theyre fine#anyways stasis. after stasis u go east to the doublet and cryonis#then the old man has you go to the temple of time and u climb up it and get the paraglider and the KING RHOAM BOSPHORAMUS HYRULE????? reveal#and he tells link u died protecting zelda and also go to kakariko and talk to impa#tadaa!! thats embarrassing. figuratively. im actually quite proud of that hvhfnjv#i also know the trip to kakariko but in less detail and i dont usually pay much attention to what impa says bc i know the plot of the game

Headcanon: Obviously, King Rhoam is tutorializing for Link’s benefit as the Perfectly Normal Old Man on the Great Plateau. That’s not the headcanon, he says that outright.
His acting is exactly as obvious and bad as that “Oh no! I forgot to write down the ingredients in my spicy meat and seafood fry, and can only remember the meat and pepper! I would gladly trade my warm doublet IF ONLY THERE WERE SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP! But alas, I am the only soul on this Great Plateau, woe is me.” diary. If there were full voice-acting, it would sound hilariously fake.

Klaus & Elke are part forest folk! Though I havent decided on if any of their immediate family are forest folk, or if they’re further up the family tree. Either way, Klaus & Elke themselves don’t know much of their family/lineage… yet no time for dat goku
Honestly, this is all because of when I learned that the Nightseeker concept page has a similar design to a forest folk. Even got the little hair tufts. I’m not sure if Klaus or Elke will have the tufts in any art I draw of them, but it’s very likely. It’ll probably be subtle though.

some more ideas for the totk rewritten project (botw2);
underground general ideas i thought about what to theme the underground after, and since its vaguely like underwater in canon i thought id push it much much further, you cant actually dive and while id love that i do want to stay within a certain possible range of it still being a sequel to botw and somewhat based on totk- so im putting the low gravity effect away from the sky and instead in the underground, the ENTIRE underground, that way it is distinctly different in the way you have to play since you gotta work around the low gravity effect, the entire plant life and enemies will also be based on deep sea creatures- anglerfish like ones that half burrow and lure you with their light, those fish (or are they worms?) that hide underground as soon as you step too close, maybe they hide initially but only to make you go closer and try and snatch at you
much more glowy things too, basically everythings got some sort of light on it, there are different creatures flying around that all feature some sort of glow, so there is stuff to see but you cant immediately know what it is, theres a unique kind of plant that when you bother it spews out a dark cloud of spores (kinda like in tp) that dims any light you had; there are some landmarks you can activate or repair with the help of zelda but there is no way to illuminate the entire map and the lil light ferns expire slowly too
i also want it to be way more wet, not full with water but maybe a thin layer of water at most places and some drops from stalactites that fall constantly
there are shadowy ghosts there as well but they CAN aggro (still working on it), either by taking a weapon from their grave or some other things; also considered them or some other enemy that stalks you for some time and the only clue you get is maybe double sound of your steps or something at the very edge of your screen but you can never catch it when looking around (i dont want to make it a horror game but do want the underground to stay as creepy as when you first get down there), something elusive and shadow based that is rarely encountered but stays creepy for longer than the miasma hands sicne it cant get stuck on anything and the only way to be safe is while in the air
maybe some miasma reanimated corpses of ancient shiekah killed when the ancient hyrulean king turned on them (only foudn in the underground in this way; there are others but unposessed in alot of the broken shrines and old laboratories so seeing one suddendly move and crawl after you is probably pretty scary, kinda like the vroken guardians sometimes being still functional)
the dongos are the main friendly animal you can discover there and tame (still working out more details) they can climb around, always emit a little bit of light and the shadow enemy wont latch onto you as long as you are near a dongo, maybe even most enemies will leave you alone if you are riding one, as they are slower than horses, with the exception of gigamas (or a similar enemy ill redesign for that) as they are the natural predator of dongos; when you get to close to one it will react to it and if a fight is initiated it burrows away (you can call it and it comes back to you if you are out of range of that enemy)
tameable animals since i played skyward sword recently i just realized again how much fun it is to fly on a bird, sicne im already dividing the three map layers a bit more i thought it would be cool to make these layers more distinct, in some part by the tameable animals- the sky has birds (based on dinosaurs), the surface has horses, the underground dongos- neither of them can follow you to one they dont belong and the way to call them switches as you switch layers
im not sure yet if those birds should be ridable or are only able to give you a small boost upwards when you call them
magic bar so instead of actual batteries i planned to, as i said before, to put that into links shiekah arm prosthetic, and instead of giving you literal battery symbols on the screen it would be a bar right below your health and next to the symbol of the current selected arm ability
krog seeds a bit more to the krogs- as i said before they are no longer the way to make your pockets bigger- among an armor set i also thought about making the most expensive reward OR the end reward for finding all of them be the eponator zero- maybe it went missing during the cataclysm and maronus (engl. hestu) finds it at some point, so you get your bike back but its locked behind something bigger so you are unlikely to exploit it early on
(EDIT) (forgot to mention the dragons- im putting them each in one layer of the map- eldra in the underground bc gan is there and youknow, demise coming from the ground and fire being associated with the ground etc, farodra on the surface GREEN etc, and naydra in the sky, bc wisdom and owls and gods and all that weeeeee)
(on a sidenote im also thinking about ditching the building mechanic to some extent since i dont think it fits very well as a whole and it makes it too easy to completely skip stuff- i want the main way to move things or to get around be the hookshot/grappling hook part of links arm; still working on all that though .. so far it does seem likely like it will be much more limited)
