Hi
Can you rank the Strawhats by most liked to least? Or at least ramble about their characters?
See ya, love u
Hiiii Empa I can always gush about one piece thank you <3 (also im assuming this is my own personal ranking ur asking for and not who i think is most popular in the fandom lol) My ranking changes a lot to be fair and literally love all of them soooo much but currently:
10. Jinbe
He might be at the bottom of my list but I literally cried tears of joy when he joined the strawhats so that's the level we're operating on when I say how much I love all of them. Really the only reason he's on the bottom is because he's had the least amount of time on the crew, but literally one of the coolest characters ever and Oda teasing for YEARS of him joining the crew and him finally getting to!!!! Amazing!!!! Can't wait to see more of him as the series goes on I've already loved his role in Wano and Egghead it's been a treat.
9. Franky
Guy of all time. I WISH Oda gave him more screentime because he's literally so cool!!!!! One of the funniest characters and that is not appreciated enough, has such a good introduction/backstory in Water 7, his relationship with Robin is literally everything to me, and when he does get screentime!!! I am seated!!! People need to love Franky more >:(
8. Chopper
MY SOOOONNNNN I would die for him. His story line about being a monster and coming to embrace it because the strawhats literally love and embrace him as he is, I will cry about it if I think about it for more than two minutes. I felt that he didn't get as many opportunities to shine in post timeskip and then the Wano arc happened!!!! Such a good arc for him and how essential he was to the overall success and how proud everyone was of him!!!!! And how he has full control over his big monster form and utilizes it to help people! Literally love him so much GOD.
7. Usopp
Can u believe there was a time in my life where I didn't like Usopp? Insanity. To be fair his introduction arc is unfortunately the weakest in the series for me, I found him annoying in the beginning. But Usopp is so cool because he is a regular guy, and yet he still overcomes SO much. A lot of speculation that the next arc of One Piece will be HIS arc and I really hope that's the case because every time he gets a chance to shine is some of the times when One Piece is at it's absolute best.
6. Nami
Literally girl of all time I'm so obsessed with her. I know people hate how women are drawn in One Piece but it's honestly made up for me by the fact that almost all the women have such incredible and nuanced writing, and I think how good of a writer Oda is really shines in how he writes Nami. Consistently one of the most interesting and fun characters in the whole series, and the first character to really get the spotlight and people still talk about it as a highlight of the series 20+ years later. No one is doing it like her!!
5. Brook
When Brook was introduced I was not thrilled to get ANOTHER crew member, especially cause it was a dumb talking skeleton, and that seemed just like a gag character. And then 40 episodes later I was literally sobbing over his backstory and character and he's such a good addition to the crew. He also hangs out a little bit more in the background but he's still doing SO MUCH in the background that you can't help paying attention to him. So dorky but also just hits people with profound wisdom every once in awhile?! Brook rocks so hard.
4. Luffy
I never really know where to put Luffy in my ranking, because really he's number one as well (as are really the next three as well, they change in ranking too much for a definitive number one). The perfect protagonist and how he helps people and his own personal development has literally changed me. I never get tired of him, I never find him boring, and he's such a major reason as to why people have stuck around to see this story unfold for 25 years now. He's the character I really don't now how to put into words how much I love him, he's just bigger than life in so many ways.
3. Zoro
He captured my heart at the very beginning and never let go, which is funny cause I thought I would hate him LMAO. Literally the coolest character while also being the absolute silliest, he never fails to make me laugh from his dumbassery. And hes such a simple character with simple motivations, but there's so much to pick apart at the same time somehow. i feel like his words hold so much weight when he's being serious, and even though he's a simple character it doesn't always make him easy to understand unless you REALLY dive into his character. Literally never mad to see him get screentime, I love him so much he was my first favorite character in the series <3
2. Robin
ROOOBBBBIIIINNNN I LOVE HEEEERRRRR. Again was kinda skeptical about why she was joining the crew and not Vivi, but Oda has never let me down when adding a new member to the strawhats, and her story is so great to watch, especially going back with more context and everything she says makes so much sense. I mean her fully becoming a member of the crew is still a series highlight, and I also really like the moments where she relies on the crew and they rely on her and the TRUST!!!! THE LOVE!!!!! Also her sense of humor is so underrated she cracks me up so much I love that she shares a brain cell with Luffy and is so morbid lmao
Sanji
I hate him. His eyebrows are stupid. He acts like an idiot all of the time. There are several instances where he needs to be put in horny jail. Obnoxious, stupid, bratty, and people look at me with disgust when I say Sanji is my favorite character and that I'm insane about him. Oh it's so bad. The way he shows love, how he's a bratty kid with a temper yet also the kindest strawhat, the way he's like a leashed rabid dog but he attached the leash to himself, the way he has so many moments of self sacrifice throughout the series and it's acknowledged as a problem 20 years after he's introduced as a character. He's mentally strong for the ones he loves yet doesn't see any worth in himself. The way his arc centers on blood vs found family. Him being scared of becoming as monstrous as his family. AHHHHHHHHH I HATE HIM I HATE HIM HE MAKES ME INSANE. Anyways that's my favorite character.
#mostly just me gushing about characters except for the last one on the list if anyone wants to read it :')#guys i love one piece so much it literally makes me cry how much i love these characters#one piece

I heard Season 7 wasn't so great. I'm sure you think otherwise, but what were some highlights that you think made it worthwhile, if you did?
Alright,, get ready for this, cause I think Season 7 was pretty good, so let’s get to it:
I think lots of people who were disappointed with season 7 conflated the importance of certain things and events--especially Adam--and their hatred for the season is more so a result of it not adhering to expectations they arbitrarily decided on.
For instance, before season 7 even dropped, we still had people claiming Shiro and Adam were fiances previously, somehow still fiances, or were meant to be. People honestly thought they’d get back together after a messy breakup and years of distance. So many fans thought a wedding was inevitable. All of this in spite of the show runners repeatedly confirming that they were never engaged, the relationship was permanently over, and Adam was really just part of Shiro’s backstory. And you can bet lots of them treated Shiro like he wasn’t “real rep” after Adam was gone, which wasn’t fair honestly.
So anyway, some of the things season 7 did for us:
fINALLY REVEALED THE LONG AWAITED PREKERBEROS BACKSTORY BETWEEN SHIRO AND KEITH,, we’ve waited years for this guys!! It was so heartwarming and beautiful to see how their pasts intertwined to shape the present, how Keith is still by Shiro’s side all these years later,, even paralleling his devotion to Shiro with Shiro’s literal ex-boyfriend,,
REVEALED SHIRO WAS CANONICALLY MLM,, LIKE,, THIS WAS THE REPRESENTATION THE SHOW RUNNERS HAD BEEN FIGHTING FOR ALL THIS TIME. AND IT WAS EXPLICIT, ONSCREEN REP FROM A LEAD CHARACTER. THAT’S FUCKING AWESOME,, and I’ll literally never be okay with people still crying “queerbaiting” after everything the staff went through to do this for us,,
Keith literally willing Shiro back to life with the power of love made me like cry I can’t get over how soft and sweet they are,,
Exploring the inner-workings and politics of the Galaxy Garrison
WE FINALLY GOT SOME MORE QUINTESSENCE SENSITIVE KEITH AND DRUID CONTENT!!! Again, this is the payoff we’ve been waiting for since season 1!! Do you know how long I’ve wanted a Druid with more of an established character and background beyond just Faceless Enemy?? We got so much interesting info here. And the episode played out with all these neat little horror tropes--Keith hiding and tensing up when the Druid walks over his spot and that one step creaks, that maniacal laugh and mask splitting open, some of Macidus’ creepy mannerisms, ect. Parts of that episode gave me chills, I loved it!! And again, these are some of the answers and world building tidbits we’ve been waiting ages for,,
Shiro’s new hand is cool and I love the design. I don’t care that lots of people think otherwise lmao. It’s so fun to me,, I love how big and floaty it is,, and I love that scene where Allura uses the tiara crystal to salvage Shiro’s connection with it. She was so ready for that, no hesitation, and I wish that maybe there was more of a followup to that--Allura thinking of how she got the tiara from her mother in a flashback, Shiro thanking her afterwards, something.
SHIRO CONNECTING WITH ATLAS WAS BEAUTIFUL,, that moment where everything just sort of clicks into place. And everyone looks to him for guidance. It’s really magical. And I honestly think Shiro being able to create his own mech through his bond with Atlas is kind of a callback to that scene where Allura tells him he was meant to create, not destroy.
In the same vein, I also think it was actually really great that Keith was the one to cut down Sendak. You can read my whole thought process on it here, but long story short, Shiro was tortured both mentally and physically by Sendak for so long. And all the time, he kept trying to push Shiro, trying to force him to be the monster the Galra always intended to make him. Killing Sendak just isn’t Shiro to me, but it’s the kind of thing Sendak would love. At least then, he’d get in a last word about how they’re supposedly the same or some other bullshit that would just torture Shiro more. And honestly, I think Shiro has been forced to do enough violence at the hands of the Galra. Keith killing Sendak is him shouldering the weight of taking a life so Shiro doesn’t have to. It’s a reprieve. It’s Keith cutting down Shiro’s demons and then being there to hold Shiro in his arms afterwards. Psychologically, I think this is so much more healing for Shiro than the alternative. That shot where Keith takes Sendak down? That’s not a Big Hero moment, it’s dark and viscerally personal. It’s not Keith stealing the spotlight from Shiro or anything, it’s Keith doing something gutting and ugly so Shiro doesn’t have to, it’s freeing Shiro from Sendak’s influence for good--and ensuring Shiro won’t have to make the killing blow frees him in a way, ends the cycle of Shiro potentially being haunted by the continued cycle of violence Sendak tried to trap him into.
And again, I’m saying all that with the context that Shiro always pushed himself to do everything on his own, to shoulder the weight of the world--hello Atlas--because he spent so long with others looking at him with the misconception that he needed to be shielded and protected, that he couldn’t do things alone or couldn’t push past a certain point, reducing him to the symptoms of his illness--hi Adam. This season doesn’t coddle Shiro or remove him from the action. He’s not “retired,” he’s Captain, Commander. He lets himself lean on Keith for support, be held safe in his arms. But then shoves a medic away and runs to his battle station in the very next episode. Part of his character arc is learning that there can be a balance between others thinking they know what’s best for him and doing everything on his own. He learns, through his bond with Keith, that he can lean on someone and look to them for support--without being coddled or looked down on. “We saved each other”--Keith has always believed in him, has never once doubted his abilities, so trusts him enough to let be vulnerable with Keith, to let him help out when he needs it.
WE FINALLY GOT A BIGGER HUNK STORY ARC--ALSO THE AMAZING SCENE BETWEEN HUNK AND KEITH THAT BUILDS ON THEIR EARLIER DEVELOPMENT TOGETHER,,
We see the wonderful payoff for Lance and Allura’s feelings for one another--the cute little exchanges,, Lance’s sister noticing What’s up,, the blushing and soft looks...it was so good...a lot of people hated that cause they hate the ship, but like, it was a buildup of natural progression for these characters.
Everything in regards to Hunk, Lance, and Pidge’s families building on their respective backstories and character development
KEITH TAKING KROLIA TO VISIT HIS FATHER’S GRAVE WAS SUCH A NICE TOUCH IT HURT BUT IT FELT LIKE GOOD CLOSURE,,
ALTEAN REI,, THE WHOLE NOTION OF HAGGAR ABANDONING THE DRUIDS AND CREATING AN ALTEAN ARMY,, THAT’S SUPER INTERESTING IM READY TO GET MORE INTO THAT,,
ATLAS IS A REALLY AWESOME MECH AND IM GLAD SHIRO HAS IT,,
So,, in conclusion--I don’t think the season’s perfect, there are some things I think could’ve been improved, but I also think it honestly did a lot of good things and built on established canon. Season 6 is what I see as the writing’s highest point for reference, btw.

TW: IMPLIED ABUSE
Even as an infant, Darcy was vastly different from her sisters. She was the loudest crier, the fussiest child that needed to be hold a certain way, the one that would only settle when she was put down in a crib on her own. She was often the reason some nannies couldn’t last long in their duties of taking care of them. More so when she began to grow and became mobile, her shrieks and cries would echo around the house that it was almost painful to hear, only because she wouldn’t settle. This didn’t change when Judy came around to secure roles for them in her films. She never took well to the fame her parents have and she was often the first to go missing when it would involve being in the spotlight. It took a lot of crying, tantrums, and plenty of ‘discipline’ from her parents to get her to recite her lines or act on camera. Her favourite word had always been ‘no’, especially when she had to endure flashing lights and crowds.
Growing up into such a prestigious family, Darcy fell short in the family standard of perfect. She was a difficult companion, having a plethora of peculiarities, ranging from ‘no contact’ to ‘being too literal’. She liked her own company and her short tolerance from being around people painted her as an anti-social. Nothing neither Russell nor Judy could be proud of about her. Their frustration in their inability to understand her resorted heavily in getting her disciplined the only way they know how, with a heavy hand. They weren’t shy about how they felt about her and how she ‘should be more like her siblings’, either. This resulted in planting a seed of resentment in Darcy’s young mind towards her parents and a rift between herself and her sisters. She was never good enough in their eyes, and having seen herself inferior to her siblings caused her to be perpetually uncomfortable in her skin.
Curling upon herself, Darcy spent her childhood years filled with a sense of isolation and loneliness. Despite having her sisters around, she remained mostly in her room, whether she either be found reading her books or breaking things. It was why her parents were mostly infuriated with her. She wanted to understand how things work. With an insatiable curiosity for the world, she would often resort to breaking things so she could see how it worked inside which is what she did to the curtains in her room at the age of 3. She was playing with a lighter she found in the coffee table by the living, the same lighter she noticed Russell used to light a stick. Wanting to figure out how something could create a fire, she swiped it and headed up to her room. She had plenty of attempts until she figured out how to use it…then accidentally burnt her finger on the trigger button. Shaking her hand off from the heat and checking it through her tears, her attention was lost to where the lighter landed. By the time she noticed it, there was smoke and her curtains already lit up, triggering the fire alarms to ring around the entire house. It was a chaos of sounds and yelling and people and Darcy snuck under her bed to get away from the overwhelming flood of sensory information. When the firefighters came around to put out the fire and everyone settled down from the panic, she heard her name being beckoned in a looming soft voice of her mother. That day, she received a spanking afterwards that had her carrying an ice pack for her butt for a couple of days.
At lost of what to do with Darcy and her oddities, Russell and Judy brought their daughter to a professional child psychologist. They believed her tendencies could be fixed and they could have an easier time dealing with her but Darcy, at the first few sessions, never talked nor looked at the therapist. It took a while before the girl took to her therapist and what followed those sessions were behaviour modification drugs and anti-anxiety. Later down the years, an antidepressant medication was added but Darcy, more or less, remained the same way. The only change was that she was manageable. Her tantrums lessened and so did her communication skills. She had figured that if she had kept her mouth shut and let them be, she won’t be in trouble as much and it gave her some peace. Her effective coping mechanism may have made her less of a target for trouble but it brought a greater distance between herself and her family because they’ve gone through so much trouble in trying to ‘fix’ her, implying that there was something broken inside of her that needed repairs; something not quite right fitting into her family standards. What Russell and Judy didn’t know was that Darcy was at lost as they are because she couldn’t, for the life of her, understand why she had to be this way and not normal like her sisters. There had been times where she felt this bubble of anger towards herself for being herself because that was where the problem lies and that anger hurt more than she would admit.
The greatest (and quite possibly the only) distraction Darcy had to her personal complicated issues was schooling. She liked going to school, despite having a hard time connecting with people her age. Learning meant figuring out how things worked and it gave her so much joy to be at school, especially being in science class. That was where Darcy’s love for science started. From the simplicity of growing plants to complexity of how a cell worked, she was in awe of it all. It made her feel welcomed, in the way where her excessive thirst for knowledge could finally be fulfilled and for once, she wasn’t lost at all. Unlike in her reality where she was lost in human contact and communication. Somehow, things were so much easier to grasp than people and it had always been like that ever since. Apart from her love for science, the school provided another avenue in which Darcy showed interest and it was photography and it started when she saw an ad from her high school bulletin board. They needed a photographer for their newspaper club and by then, Darcy knew better than to remain around the family household than needed so she took the opportunity to make sure she wasn’t always around. She enjoyed being behind the camera, taking photos of scenery and of people then taking notice of how they smiled or acted so differently with a lens in front of them. It was largely due to the anonymity it provided rather than being the one in front of it. Things went even better when she met a small group of people who seemed to take a liking on her. Cautiously curious, she allowed herself to hang out with them at times and she realised perhaps her life wasn’t that bad when she had friends.
It was due to her friends why Darcy was even able to figure out a way for combating her anxiety towards people, through drinking. At first, she was reluctant to try it, having a slight distaste for it because of Russell’s drinking but she was always a pushover so it didn’t take her much to get convinced. Soon, she, too, partook in recreational drinking and ‘youthful shenanigans’ such as skinny dipping at a lake. It felt nice to just be. Her friends had also been the reason as to how she managed to get acquainted early to sex. It was during one of the parties her friends brought her to and drinking made socialising with people easier. However, between her medications and alcohol, her lapse in judgement brought her to fall into bed with a stranger and lose her virginity to him in her drunken state. Even though, it was consensual, she wasn’t prepared for such a thing to have happened that afterwards, she called a taxi to drive her home where she soaked in her bath and cried. She was torn at what to feel because she allowed it to happen but she couldn’t believe it had happened, that…someone had touched her like that, something she had been highly particular about.
Knowing there was nothing to be done about it, Darcy accepted what happened and moved on. She would simply smile at her friends when they would joke that she ‘got some’ during that particular night. There were other things that needed her attention and she knew she would rather forget about it. When her friends brought her to another party, she made sure she didn’t drink as much as to not allow another repeat of what had happened to her before. What actually ended up happening was having a girl on her lap. She wasn’t sure how she came to be there or if she somehow beckoned her but she was there, causing her slightly to get anxious. She wasn’t used to this, more so, when people began to chant for them to kiss. She had wanted to leave, then, but as she looked into those eyes and felt those hands on her cheeks, she was rooted to the spot on the couch. Without warning, she felt those lips press against her, and tasted the fruity-flavoured Chapstick from the girl’s lips, and with that single moment, she knew she wanted more. That somehow, this felt more natural to her. She almost didn’t want to stop, not even after everyone cheered at seeing two girls kiss. She was thankful too that nothing further than kissing happened, making it more memorable to her than her first time having sex. It was then that she realised that perhaps there was a reason why she didn’t like her first time and it may or may not involve the gender of the person she was with.
Being enrolled in Pacific hadn’t been one of Darcy’s priority because she had her eyes set on leaving California for her higher education; she wanted to make her own way in this world. Yet, before she could’ve tried her luck to other universities outside California, Russell spoke to her about which university to go and he offered Pacific. It only took two days before she settled on the decision to go to university. After all, he didn’t want her getting left behind by other prominent names in the industry, especially when most of their children, people Darcy knew from having families being in the spotlight, was studying and enrolled in the university. It’d hurt his pride.
BABY, THERE'S NO OTHER SUPERSTAR
Darcy had short-length hair that barely touched her shoulders but she is letting it grow out. She has no tattoos or piercings to other than the ones on her ears. She wears glasses for seeing because she has myopia (short-sightedness), much preferring them to her contacts but she wears contacts upon the need arises. Normally, she can be seen wearing designer brands and elegance styles, an influence by her upbringing, where she looks decent, presentable yet fashionable either in a dress or wearing pants for the day. Her style can be deemed as smart casual, ensuring she always looked her best for any occasion.
YOU KNOW THAT I'LL BE YOUR PAPARAZZI
Russell is a famous entrepreneur, who owns most of Hollywood’s big brand businesses. Judy is an Oscar winning movie actress, and the children had small roles in movies as children.
