I’m home sick and starting a new knitting project, so I’ve been listening to the Lubber’s Hole podcast while I work. I get now why people develop parasocial relationships with podcast guys. I know nothing about Mike and Ian but they and this blanket I’m working on are my new best friends.

#they simply have very nice calming voices #and their enthusiasm for their subject is very genuine and lovely to hear #its also nice to hear them appreciate the same moments in the aubrey-maturin books that I do #I like the idea that books can reach very different people in similar ways #also their special guests are always great #it’s like listening to a well-designed lit analysis course or something except more fun #also this blanket is so fun #I’m doing it in four colors and planning on practicing a bunch of different stitches with it #so it’s gonna have a funky texture #it’s also gonna take FOREVER bc I’m using 4-weight yarn or whatever it’s called and this thing’s gonna be like 85 inches lmao #but the whole reason I got into knitting was to have something to do with my hands while I watch movies or listen to podcasts #the actual projects are just a bonus
