started reading a tempest of tea last night because query recommended it and lent me his copy, and it’s very good, but it’s distractingly similar to six of crows. arthie is basically kaz (with a little bit of inez), jin is basically jesper; so many of the descriptions remind me of six of crows, as well as the entire plot; its so distracting. it is really good, but then again, six of crows is one of my favorite book series of all time so maybe i’m biased in that regard. query told me a lot of people were saying the same in the reviews, so i guess im not alone.

no hate to the author (she’s doing her best and it is genuinely well written, she’s clearly talented) or the book or anyone who likes the book

Several months after initially reblogging this, I have now realized that this is Tim Wright from Marble Hornets.

So earlier in art class today, someone drew a characters hands in their pockets and mentioned that hands are really like the ultimate end boss of art, and most of us wholeheartedly agreed. So then, our teacher went ahead and free handed like a handful of hands on the board, earning a woah from a couple of students. So the one from earlier mentioned how it barely took the teacher ten seconds to do what I can’t do in three hours. And you know what he responded?

“It didn’t take me ten seconds, it took me forty years.”

And you know, that stuck with me somehow. Because yeah. Drawing a hand didn’t take him fourth years. But learning and practicing to draw a hand in ten seconds did. And I think there’s something to learn there but it’s so warm and my brain is fried so I can’t formulate the actual morale of the lesson.

had a fucking hilarious dream that tumblr replaced the "block" function with the far funnier "glock" function, which did the exact same thing except whenever anyone blocked you a random bullet hole, like a png of a bullet hole, would appear on your blog. discourse blogs were unreadable bc you'd go to the page and the sheer amount of bullet hole pngs stacked over the blogs obscured everything. I woke myself up laughing
