Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I read a lot in bed, but I’ll read on the couch, at the table, wherever.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Mostly random pieces of paper, but I do have a fair number of bookmarks. 

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

If I’m reading a paper pages book (‘real’ book seems snobby), I strive to finish at a chapter mark, but I’m not dogmatic about it. If I’m reading on my kindle or computer, I can leave off anywhere.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

I’m always getting chapters in at lunch when I’m working, or at breakfast. I rarely read at dinner; I think Mark would take exception. I also love a mug of something while I read: coffee or tea.

Music or TV while reading?

I CAN read through some of the stuff Mark watches, like soccer and other sports, because I’m not invested at all. Sometimes I play instrumental or soothing music that I don’t have to focus on while I’m reading, but I don’t often seek out background sound to reading.

Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere. On the train, on breaks at work, waiting in line; I’ve really gotten into a reading groove this year.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Mostly silently in my head, but I have been known to perform passages from time to time.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I try not to, unless the story is just insipid, but not so bad that I want to give up on it. Sometimes with a paper pages book, my eyes can’t help but jump around and I get a tiny spoiler, but only, like a page ahead. 

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Mostly a spinebreaker. I’ve always been a ‘the words are what’s important’ person. I don’t need pristine books; I want the stories inside. Do you write in your books?

Not usually, but I’ve been known to. It’s usually with books I love especially and have reread.

If you could only be part of one fandom for the rest of your life, which would you pick and why? It would definitely have to by the MMFD fandom. They are the loveliest, most caring, and creative people I've "met."

If tumblr didn’t exist, how would you spend your free time? Probably reading/watching TV. Though I do those things quite often anyway. It seems weird to think of life without Tumblr.

What’s your favorite season (like time of year, not show season)? I love spring, when the snow is melting and everything is starting to grow again. I also enjoy a good thunder/rainstorm.

Daytime or nighttime? I'm a huge fan of early mornings and late nights. Makes it hard to sleep. I'd be cool with sleeping during the day.

Are you a planner or do you prefer to take life as it comes? I'm a huge planner.  I'm always running scenarios of what life will be like if I do such and such a thing.

Describe your favorite piece of clothing in detail. I'm not that big into clothes.  I love love love shoes though and it feels weird to me to wear the same shoes two days in a row. I love my Chaco sandals the most.

Why do you think your OTP (I know we all have more than one, pick your current favorite) is your OTP? My OTPs usually either remind me of myself or are a pairing of someone I'd like to be with. Finn, Dylan/Stiles, Danny Castellano...if I can't have them, then I want them to be happy with whoever they're with.

Which do you find more entertaining: books, TV, movies or video games? I love books because of the detail they can go into, but I really enjoy TV as a de-stresser. Just to be able to sit down and not think of real life each week, is wonderful.

Tell us one meaningful childhood memory. Probably when my brother was born. We're 6 years apart so I kind of feel like another parent to him and it was so much fun getting to help "raise" him.

What are your thoughts on e-readers? I'm too much of a fan of real books to ever get an e-reader. I love having a bookshelf full of books. I also have a library book phobia, because of all the people that may have touched them before me, so I really enjoy owning books.

Think back to being a kid again: what was one thing you always said you would have when you were an adult? Do you still want it? For some reason when I was in middle school I always thought I wanted this Lexus SUV because I thought it was so cool. Now I drive a Honda Civic and can't imagine driving anything but a small car.

The Reader's Lover

You should observe her while she is reading. Watch as her pupils dilate and shine, as if the words are touching her skin to find their way into her soul. Watch as she inhales deeply, because the beauty of the written world has brought something to life in her imagination. Notice as how her spine curves, because she has reached the pinnacle of the story that gives her immense pleasure and happiness. Listen to her squeals of delight or when her breath hitches, because you know there was a plot twist she least expected.

Finally, be a witness to when she ends that final chapter. Her eyes will be shut closed, body humming, her thoughts calm as she tentatively traces the spine of the book, relishing the entire journey.

After you have done all of this, rush to her side and prove that a lover can make her feel that and more.
