Okay so I was fully prepared say I think Buffy S4 was better than AtS S1 but those last few episodes of AtS really made a hard argument. On the one hand I think Angel plays it a lot safer that limits it, in a lot of ways it feels more bland than Buffy, Buffy’s got its own identity even when reaching for a new one like it is going from S3 to S4, and also gotta be honest the best three episodes of Angel are entirely on the shoulders of Buffy and Faith they could not exist without them, meanwhile Angel’s appearances on Buffy are not great and alright but neither of them really elevate the episode at all. Plus like the bad episodes of S4 are generally like goofier and still have some fun stuff like Beer Bad while the bad episodes of Angel are like Expecting. However I think Angel’s thesis statement of needing connections is more coherent and never got lost, the best part of Buffy’s S4 overarching plot was the separation of the core cast but that’s a subtler plot compared to Initiative/Adam main plot (which is for the best if it had been too loud I think it could've gotten frustrating like Buffy and Angel’s series of mini breakups in S3) which never felt like it knew where it wanted to go, but the core thesis of Angel living apart from the world and how he needs to integrate into it if he truly wants to help it I think is really well realised, and I think what really edges it into great for me is the character of Gunn and that’s why the last three episodes makes a hard argument. He doesn’t do so much in Blind Date or To Shanshu from LA but what he represents from War Zone that really makes it. He’s the Angel that Doyle wanted him to be, he’s integrated into the community, he fights the good fight, his introduction is being framed as Angel. Meanwhile you’ve got the juxtaposition of while Gunn’s fighting for his community’s life, Angel Investigations’ is moving up and away from that mission statement getting paid an exorbitant amount of money by a tech billionaire to figure out who’s got photos of him at the brothel. Plus that ending with Angel saying he might need Gunn’s help even if he doesn’t need Angel’s. Also side notes; great convo between Gunn and his sister and also I don’t really remember this in Gunn’s character from what I’d seen from him previously so boy I sure hope his character doesn’t get mishandled. Also dragons confirmed to exist, Angel says he has seen a few in his time, cool.
Meanwhile in Blind Date you’ve got Angel spiralling from his mission statement, I’d like to intrepet it as him having the two punches from the last two episodes of failing to get the big redemption for Faith and having to settle for a soft starting her redemption along with seeing Gunn be what he’s meant to be better than him while he's doing work for that billionaire at play for this crisis of faith. Really enjoyed the use of giving Lindsey some focus and making him a mirror of Angel with his own crisis of faith, Angel here also getting his second chance to get a redemption and failing even harder with Lindsey putting his faith back in the higher power of Wolfram and Hart while Angel with the Powers That Be. Also like I didn’t really like that ending when I watched it, like I thought it was a bit cheap that Angel’s resolution to his crisis of faith was oh there’s a prophecy about me what I do does matter whoo, but the conclusion in To Shanshu in LA makes up for it with Angel not getting the reward of hearing what the prophecy truly means for him until after he’s had the breakthrough that he does have his connection to the world, things that he wants in his family Cordelia (and also Wesley I guess). Also that random demon in this episode showing up with no build? Probably liked him more as a final boss for the series so far than Adam. It’s just a good capstone to series 1, Angel completes, or begins at least, the mission statement that Doyle gave him in episode 1, he has now found something in the world that he’s part of, his family, Cordelia has her character growth solidified (even if she has to spend a lot of the episode just crying in pain from vision overload. Wesley was also there.
So yeah might just be recency bias from a strong conclusion but really enjoyed the gist of Angel S1, also to be fair Angel, Cordelia and Wesley (I'll dunk on Wesley but I do really like him) are a really strong trio for a cold open they do not miss even in a bad episode they can do a good opening scene. Episode by episode I think Buffy S4 was definitely better.
Anyway Buffy, usually I don’t like the whole one guy talking behind everyone else’s back to make everyone hate each other plot but to the credit of The Yoko Factor they really make it work by seeding it as an undercurrent throughout the whole of S4, Xander and Giles are more static as having been consistently left behind but Willow gets the dynamic drifting apart from around about I guess Buffy hooking up with Riley after being each other’s shoulders to cry on post Parker and Oz so it all makes sense and lets it actually work. It’s a decent use of Angel in this ep as well drawing some conflict between Riley and Buffy but it kinda takes the bite out of their last interaction in Sanctuary so I think I’d still rather he not be present rather than give them the immediate run back.
There’s stuff in Primeval I like. I like the idea of the fusion of Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles being needed to beat Adam who himself is a fusion of a bunch of demon and human parts. That’s a neat idea even if its entirely skin deep on Adam’s part. Spike’s great as Adam’s goon, got big Starscream energy from him. The brawl in the Initiative’s pretty neat. The growing apart subplot carries this hard as a finale (even though it isn’t actually the finale). Also I was so sure Riley was dying when he started cutting to his heart to pull out that chip but I guess he’s just fine?
And then Restless? Wild? Didn’t even have a cold open. Really dug it, gave me big Nightmares vibes and Nightmares is probably still up there as one of my faves. Willow having her performance anxiety nightmare again and the core fear of everything she’s done thus far just being a costume she’s wearing and she’s really just the same person she was back in S1. Xander having the central theme of always ending back up in his basement no matter what path he took, also like actually legitimately showing abuse from his family which I think has only ever been treat as a joke so far? Giles having failures as both a Watcher and a father figure to Buffy (he didn’t really get too much honestly). Buffy leaving her mother in the walls to follow her friends, and a general sense of can she be the Slayer and also just a person which makes sense she beats that fear because she’s pretty consistently beating the you have just be a Slayer allegations for a while now. The First Slayer’s a neat concept, it’s a pretty good reason to not just do the fusion going forwards. But you know obviously its not good you know like with how feral she is, needing Tara to talk for her and that comment on her hair. There's probably a ton of stuff I missed cause it does feel like a real dense episode.
Anyway so Buffy vs Dracula is up next? Incredible vampires are back. Also also like yeah I did catch the word Dawn in Buffy’s dream and I still don’t who Dawn is beyond she’s Buffy’s sister (I am very skilled at letting my eyes slide past information I shouldn't know yet without reading it do not worry about me with spoilers even if I broadly don't care about seeing them) but like it’s been four series with no mention of her and I know she isn’t a baby. So like I decided way back when I started and saw no mention of her that I guess Buffy’s dad just cheated on Joyce at some point and had another kid in the past and it'll just all be really convoluted how she shows up but I don’t know if a Slayer dream would dedicate some time towards hey you got a half sister about to show up so I dunno but I guess I'll be finding out?
Loving loving loving this and very excited for you to get to btvs s5. Kind of a reset for the show. Especially in comparison to s4, it has a much stronger season arc.
Nothing to really add to your ats commentary - you're just killing it! I love your analysis! Highlighted how there's a theme of connection in the finales of both season but for Buffy it's very small-scale personal (connecting to herself as a slayer, and to her friends) vs Angel's more philosophical/macro version (connecting to the world and to his community). Very good. Chef's kiss. mwah.

Swiftwing Study/design tweak + Razorwing (Again)
So I guess after the Relentless Razorwing, the next up in line would have to be Swiftwing, another dragon that I do have a few bone to pick. Key feature I pick up are short tail, small wing, long lanky legs with bigger feet kinda like kitten or night lights and most importantly the snout. I dont think I've seen the snout like this before in HTTYD. I intrepet it as the short Crocodilian Snout and it's quite common with non-httyd four legged dragon design you can see everywhere else. I think this is part of the reason why I didn't like this design as much even after the redesign and I think it doesn't quite fit HTTYD style similary to when Rise of Berk dragons are first introduced but worse. It is too bland.
Other thing I didn't like in the original design (although might be due to the style and not desgin) is how...spacious the face is. It made the eyes small and there's not much else on it so it looks like an adult face. not adult wild dragon face but adult human face wtih cheekbone and all. It's very weird cosidering they should aim to make this cute for kids. Look I even make the eyes bigger and cuter!
This tweak/redesign is inspired by that prehistoric Crocodile that gallop. it is quite clear that they design this species after Night fury but there's still so much difference between them upon study. I head people compare this species to Sand wraith too? and  can see the similarity  (again still has big difference upon study) In the lore it is mention that Swiftwing is one of the fastest dragon? looking at this and I have a big doubt but presume that RR takes place after all the known HTTYD went extinct and see the remaining species then it does check out. With this redesign I think I ended up marginally prefer Razorwing now and make swiftwing my least favourite adult rescue riders dragon desgin and he is the main character XD Sorry for ending this on such negative notes.
On Razorwing, in the previous thread. I said at the end that I wasn't quite sure about the adult propotion if it should have long body or big head. I didn't expect to come back with the answer but now I've decided. I think Adult Razorwing will have big ratio head like Bewilderbeast Chimeragon, Nadder and Stormcutter. The body is going to not be long and just medium length like Night fury. It is one of those species that can’t help but have more humoid look to their face like the Night light.

THOUGHTS ON... Post-Doomstar Relationships (your pick!) - can be a romantic one or a friendship!
Send “Thoughts on...”
OOH Man this was a tough one to pick!! But hey, I think it’d be good to use this to describe my intrepetations of Abigail’s relationship with the band post-doomstar!!!
Nathan: I think for the longest time, Nathan tried to avoid Abigail after he rescued her and made sure she was getting help. Did he want to talk to her, apologize, and such? Yes, quite a ton. There would be days where he would try and visit her room, stop, and then turn around. He feels so much guilt as he feels it’s his fault-maybe announcing to the world she was his ‘girlfriend’ caused the kidnapping and whatever tidbits he hears about her from nightmares to depression to the moments of relapsing into hysteria, it really hits him so hard.
He does eventually talk to her and she does eventually talk to him. It starts off really small though. I’m basically spoiling one of my future fics but since it’s planned to be small, here it is anyway; I headcanon that Abigail would need to sleep with gloves and a scarf on because she’d be subconsciously clawing her throat out due to the phantom feeling of chains on her neck. Nathan does want to help in that aspect but can’t talk, he knows it’s not his strongpoint and he’s afraid of hurting her, so he crochets her gloves and scarfs almost once a week! She thinks it’s store bought but with no tag, becomes easy to see it’s handmade. She finds out that it’s Nathan and though they both would like to talk about what happened, crocheting and crafting becomes the catalyst to them talking. It’s safe for the most part. Eventually, they’ll be able to move on to other topics and bring up what they’ve wanted to say. Romantic feelings aside, they just build up a new relationship and be able to develop more organically! (And i’d say this is why Nathan bottoms for her, because he doesn’t want to hurt her and trusts her with everything and she trusts him and sees it as a way that Nathan truly trusts her and she does trust him by knowing he won’t harm her as well!)
Pickles: PIckles would be just as devastated as Nathan, if not slightly more so. After all, maybe if he hadn’t threatened to quit things would’ve been more different. He wished she didn’t have to be hurt by something he had done and he feels like it’s his entire fault. Even seeing the scar on her chest is enough to make him pale and feel like wanting to vomit. Unlike the other people he hurt in the past, he didn’t really care about them. But Abigail is different. She did nothing to him and he takes the blame for himself secretly.
He is a little bit more faster in interacting with her however. After all, he’s the only band member that can bake without setting the stove on fire and she’s definitely tried what he’s made before!! Their conversation starters are baking but they do get past the stage of beating around the bush a bit quicker. They’re both traumatized in their own special ways and I feel like they’d get along in learning to cope through trauma. Maybe Abigail doesn’t have much of a family either and she feels alone in that aspect as none of them bothered to even try and contact her once she was rescued but Pickles is quick to scoop her up and treat her like a sister!! Sneaking her out to go to the park or movies, they become close friends-it does take PIckles a long time to forgive himself even though Abigail doesn’t see it as his fault whatsoever-I think he’s the one she can leave her defenses down and just be herself around and it just helps a lot in having someone to turn to!
Skwisgaar: I feel like he would be one of the first to talk to her and hang out with her! He just makes sure she’s okay before she sleeps nightly and if she’s not hanging out with others, he’ll play some songs for her on the guitar or he’ll teach her to play (even if he’s not the best instructor he tries haha-). He is the one that is a little bit more stern/giving vague advice but he means well with doing so as he just wants her to get better! He probably buys her a guitar too as a sign of friendship and having a way to distract herself when she needs it. He is a good listener as well and just provides the best hugs if she needs it!
Murderface: I really feel like pre-doomstar they actually hung out a few times! They both like horror films and while Murderface prefers the classics, abigail prefers the more modern/recent, they always like making a horror movie night with just the two of them. William is one of the first to still suggest it though he does suggest other genres or avoids movies with kidnapping, torture, etc because he doesn’t wanna trigger her. I feel like the virus/whatever he was injected with may encourage her to be angry at them but she doesn’t let it get to her. He does provide her a good way to take out her anger if she needs it and that’s just grabbing an axe and destroying some trees. Proves to be a great stress reliever!
Toki: I feel like their relationship would be a bit complicated post-doomstar. I think they would both cling onto each other initially but in a slightly unhealthy way. Not giving the other room to breath, not wanting to let the other go, refusing to leave the other alone for even a second. It did take a lot of time but they did learn to slowly give each other space and room. They definitely bonded a lot while they were kidnapped and I feel like they may have developed a crush on each other that only faded away once they were free so that kind of added onto their confusion/delirium once they were rescued and trying to adjust back to society. They definitely rely on each other the most though for their own reasons, probably did try and keep some distance to prevent from clinging onto each other as initially it does bring back bad memories of being kidnapped.
and for a bonus-Charles!: He was one of the first she trusted and relied completely since he was nothing but kind and professional towards her. The professionalism part gets thrown out the window though as he doesn’t have to be so cordial around her in a professional manner. Which means watching Disney movies with her and just talking about whatever the hell they want. He doesn’t spring up the prophecy, kidnapping, or anything like that. He’s a friend to her above all else and only talks to her about such things when she brings it up. He is the one who does help her in talking to Nathan and Pickles as they had to talk anyway and does gently guide her along to progress if she ends up relapsing just slightly but he’s been nothing but a good friend and listener!

I... 😭😭 The art looks so good that I thought it was a win when it came out😭😭
But then this monster of batman&robin interpretation of Bruce & Jason rip my heart out, stomp it and practically incinerate it.
When will the angry Robin!Jason slander end?! 😭😭😭
Jason's the Robin who said 'Robin give me magic!' 🥺🥺
Dickie's the Robin who was set to get out for revenge. 😭😭😭
This is why Jason's death was a tragedy of all tragedy. A brilliant sunshine boy snatch before his time.
All because he wants to find *his 'mother'* after mistakening *his father* worry for doubt. Why? Because he's a teen who wants reassurance from his parental figure. But instead of trust and comfort, he was given something that can be intrepet as mistrust and wariness.
You can't look me in the eye and says 'oh this kid? Nah, he doesn't have childhood trauma. abandonment issue? What's that? Social insecurities? There's no way.'
Don't everyone freak out when things were good then your parent suddenly doubting your actions or words?
Maybe it should raise a red flag in Sheila who isn't at all in the picture in Jason's life. Like maybe she gave up her parental rights over him, maybe straight up abandoned him, hates him etc etc.
But you got to see from Jason's perspective. In the midst of all the bad and terrible week, full with trigger memories, being benched, seemingly being warried by, he found out Catherine isn't his biological mother. Like a bomb of all bomb, the person raising you didn't gave birth to you. You're confused. You're shock. You wondered why no one had told you. And the kicker, 'she is still alive.' Your 'mother' isnt dead. You still have a 'mother' out there. You can still have a parent.
Personally, I think Jason searching for Sheila was as a distraction. Sure, he was hopeful like 'he still have a living mother!' but deep down, he still gotta ask 'why did she never find him?' that thought got to be brewing inside his mind.
And you know what happen when Jason found her and told her who he is?
That woman betrays Jason for Joker for all thing. Like I get it, the boy just show up, you don't feel any connection to him than 'oh, I guess I birth him few years ago.' But the true evilness is that *she* took an innocent boy cry for help and comfort for her own advantage. Disregarding a living being with emotions and all jazz for her own self benefit.
And when Joker dupe her and decided to kill her too. What did Jason did? The 'so-called' angry Robin who thirst for blood? He helped her. United her ropes. While limping. While he was bleeding to death. He was dying too but he still choose to help the person who doom him the first place.
Heck, I'm not that of an avid comic reader and I still know about this stuff. Why? Because I like Jason and wants to more about him. The Redhood!Jason could exist without retconning him as angry, violent!Robin. It's actually even more heartbreaking when we know who he used to be. It's not that Jason isn't that person any more. It's that, he has changed. Death had changed him. The Pit had changed him. Everything had changed him.
Sure, he can't be that sunshine boy now since he had died, jaded, see how the world could still move on with or without him. That the world still is a somewhat awful place despite his death. That doesn't mean that sunshine boy didn't exist.
It's the reason why people grieve over Jason. Honestly, dc could give us brief flashback of Redhood!Jason reminiscing about his joyful past of robining with another person and people *will* flock to buy that hurt/comfort moment.
DC, this my formal request. Please stop food spooning me angsy violent Robin like that's his default. 3 years of training and Jason still doesn't take responsibility for his actions???
This boy goes to a museum to finish a school assignment. He did his homework before patrol. The boy ranked 1st in his test. He laments when he did scored 'bad'. He read a fricking newspaper during lunch hours.
Unless you're saying Jason's isn't eating well and constantly manulrist, you can be familiar with the door, good sir.
Honestly, I don't mind Jason not joining the batfam (despite the idea hurts me very very much), but the idea of him being the black sheep of the family, because of his 'past'? Are you kidding me?
He died and that's bad? I understand if you wanna use his current actions but his past????
I mean, why is Jason considered as 'the worse mistake' Batman made?
Because Bruce lost him. The innocent boy. His Robin. His son. His light. When he should have comfort and reassure the boy. The person he swore to protect, the boy died. Gone. Because he was too late to save him. That's why 'Jason' is the worse mistake. The person he failed to protect. Not because some bull like he was disobedient, reckless, violent.
I REPEAT.
Jason did nothing wrong. He was just a boy looking for parental love in the wrong person who was working with an even worse person.
That's why, other than an awful AU, I refuse to accept Jason as any other.
Red Hood Outlaws Webtoon Episode 10 Like Father : Rant
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This makes me so inexiplicably angry
NEED WRITERS TO STOP POTRAY JASON AS VIOLENT AND ANGRY AND NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE CORE OF JASON'S CHARACTER
THAT WAS NO WHAT ROBIN JASON IS LIKE and fanon has done so much irreparable damage to him !!
Jason was a great kid, his and bruce's relationship was like father and son !! Jason was kind and sweet and fucking sunshine incarnate
He was reckless towards the end of his run because he saw a rapist who clearly guilty, walk free because of diplomatic immunity, he was angry at how justice system failed so many people and guess what it was fucking justified !
This was how it ended when he attacked Two Face because he found out Two Face was responsible for Willis Todd's death in his original run !! Jason had Two Face arrested and he and Bruce had little bonding not whatever the hell happened in webtoon
Tumblr media
Need ppl to stop potraying him as some sort of angry child who Bruce tolerated, who was not merciful and full of hate like PLEASE
anyways here's some of my favourite Robin Jason and Jason & Bruce interactions
he's my little boy and he deserves so much better ☹️💞
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Need DC to hire writers who atleast get Jason as a character and dont make him one dimensional

Your idea of a LN musical is great! It inspired me and now I’ve got some ideas for the little nightmares musical au/concept you were talking about .
Like I have some ideas for the types of songs Mono and The thin man could sing and I think Six would mostly hum her music box song (maybe before/during the first time she meets Mono) and she would probably accompany/sing along with some of Mono’s songs as they become friends, while the Thin man could sing the opening of the musical with songs similar to “Into the unknown”. “Lullaby in frog land” and “wayward souls” from Over the garden wall.
I imagine Thin man’s songs would get transmitted mostly by and through the TVs and initially his songs would have a very comforting, warm and alluring tone to them at least till the Thin man gets Mono to free him and takes Six, then when he starts chasing Mono then The thin man could sing a more villain-like and/or sinister song until Mono is able to defeats him (something similar to “wayward souls”) and because the mechanic of the game has us/Mono copy the Thin man’s movements during his fight maybe in the musical they could have Mono need to echo/recite the song The thin man is singing for him to be able to defeat him/until he is able to defeat him.
Now with Six I don’t personally think she should get a villain song, I imagine she wouldn’t sing that much on her own except as a support or accompaniment of Mono’s songs who would mostly take the Lead till the end of the musical. Although I’d like to imagine she would be the one to initiate the song they sing when they both meet for the very first time.
Maybe Mono would try to sing a song similar to the one they sang when they first met after rescuing Six from the city tower (maybe about how glad he is that she is Ok and that now everything will get back to normal) yet Six does not follow his song’s lead this time and/or doesn’t respond nor echoes his melody, she would only do that when they are about to reach the exit when she turns back to catch Mono’s hand just like she does the game, then she stops singing and then the betrayal happens and that’s when Six starts humming (just the melody) of her music box once again.
Mono could sing a lament song about the loss of his friend maybe regretting and thinking it was somehow his fault and wondering what he did wrong, then the melody could start taking a darker tone and start sounding like the “villain song” or the “Intro” of the Thin man, till Mono starts to grow up into the Thin man and the last song he sings could be something like “Into the unknown” finishing the song that was featured at the start of the musical to show that all this time they were either the same person and that the story is repeating or that Mono was always meant to take The thin man’s mantle (just like in the game)
If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?
Oh how the gentle wind
Beckons through the leaves
As autumn colors fall
Dancing in a swirl
Of golden memories
The loveliest lies of all
The loveliest lies of all
I can imagine the musical playing with concepts of the TVs, old nostalgic memories and with the music as a form of escapism, by illustrating how the melodies/songs have a great power behind them which are able to affect the people surrounding them, just like in the game in which the TVs and the programs/music were able to hypnotize the viewers.
And because many theorize that the game is a loop, I think the musical could play with this concept by starting the musical with a song similar to “into the unknown” from over the garden wall and then at the end of the musical they could close it by having the intro being completed and/or repeated.
This concept was done with musical of Hadestown in which the story in universe is said to be a very old song/story which is being implied to be sang/repeated over and over with the last notes of the musical being the intro implying it’s gonna start/going to be sung over again.
I really want to try to develop this concept. (It seems great and I like it a lot!) it also seems fun to try to interpret a mostly silent game through other medium.
From my LN musical post
Oh wow that's the long one! It gets me really happy when I get long response like these for my ideas! Sorry it took me a while before I response
Yeah! LN (2 especially) did really remind me of OTGW too!
Having Thin man sing the opening song is the interesting idea, something I haven't considered. It works well if you want the musical to be the perfect loop. Although if it's to capture the OTGW feels of it I also feel like the Eyes would be the good candidate. Regardless, whoever singing the opening number is going to give off the very difference feels. I also kinda still want the kids singing. Maybe like Beauty and the Beast it can happening all at once, The town folks(Kid, establishing the universe) Belle (Mono, I want song) Gaston (Thin man, Villain song)...not as in having the eye/thinman singing like Gaston but as in part of their song being feature in the opening number. Maybe they could be the one to start, the kids being the chorus, Mono juxposition the mood.
I agree that Six wouldn't sing a lot or have her stand alone song in any of the LN2 duration. I can even imagine her voice to not like...how should I put it,...doesn't sound like a singer. She'd only sing along with Mono and it mostly sound more like a talk than a singing (at least at the start. She will get more into it as the story progress) so when she does eventually have her own stand alone song it feels special and people'd grew on her voice. As for the humming, I'd have her hum the same way in game with the scene she's only shown humming in(with exception for the last scene) as in it's isn't really the add in musical element as it is just happen organicly....FOR THE SEQUEL/LN1 however. Imagine if her song has that humming we're so familar as part of it.
(I also should clarify for my original post that Six doesn't have the villain song. at least not in LN2 and even if it's for LN1 it's still arguable if it counts as villain song since she’s the main protagonist in that one. Her last song (or her I want song as I put it) is still being sung together with Mono. I don’t know what’s the musical term for it but it’s kinda like they’re screaming on top of each other until eventually Six’s winning. Kinda like for the first time in forever reprise or Evelyn Evelyn. In this musical version Six would be explicite about the reason of why she drops Mono, a major changes in adaptation)
There are some scene I wasn't sure about like how the musical element is incoperate into the scene I wasn't sure if it should be musical , like when Six and Mono first met. I think for my version I'd like to keep it as it is with them not singing like how it happens in game but the imaginary of Mono bursting into Song at hopes of finding friend then get shove aside by Six is pretty funny to me. I think most of my song, with some exception like the letting go scene all happening in the period that can be extend/expane upon or has extra scene to it like Mono and Six first together song wbeing sing on the raft. Thin man and Mono song though I wasn't sure myself. I think they should have a sing off or song together like you mention but will it happening as Mono is killing Thin man or seperately I wasn't sure. (They could sing right before they fight maybe but the fight itself is mostly action)
(For me the song that most similar to Like ship happens similary to Like ship; the love song happens in the middle of the story)
Oh  and now that you point it out For some reason in my version I completely forgot that Mono turned into the Thin man--I mean I didn’t forget that he is thin man but my version it just end without showing him turning into Thin man XD. Maybe that’s why I haven’t consider having him singing the opening number. If we follow the game and keep the scene and play fully into the concept of the loop then yeah your idea is really spot on. I think for mine since it end with him as the kid, the song is only hint in similarity of thin man without the song fully turn into his song. and the concept of loop is more of the musical element of First song and last song being the same song more than he play of actual loop.
But we do have similar idea of having the repeat song even if it happens differently XD Mono singing to Monster Six call back to their early song and Six song as she letting go is the twisted version of that same song too...Mono last song call back to his first song etc.
But yeah our version could be seperate and totally different! That’d be fun to have various intrepetation of how the musical would turn out to be. Mine is very disney-esque  and steven universe-y lightheart compare to the original material but yours would be closer to that and Over the garden wall. One thing to keep in mind though is that Animated (movie? series?) with musical element in it and Musical theather is also a very different meduim and my idea is made with animated musical in mind since why I do still want a lot of scene without song in it. If it’s for musical theather then I can totally see Six and Mono sing as they meet or Mono and Thin man sing as they fight. Mybe your idea and my idea will be like the total different version/take on this
You (and anyone else who’d interest) are allow to play and tinker with this concept however you like! I’d love to see it!
