Some days you have to look through the negative and find a positive. We've had a coyote problem here lately and haven't been able to let our chickens free range for awhile. They have plenty of space in their coop and can still run around the bottom and get fresh air, but I know it's just not the same for them. Plus I miss pulling up the driveway after work and seeing a yard full of chickens! The apple trees on the property have been so full of fruit that it's just falling off everywhere before it's ready and rotting on the ground. I think of all of that food going to waste and it just bums me out. Our one raised bed never had strawberries come up so it just got overrun with weeds. The main weed type has giant leaves that the chickens always loved munching on. I could sit here and dwell on those "negatives", or I can see that God put some extra treats right next to the chicken coop for me to gather for the chickens while we keep them safe from the coyotes. Sure it's a little more work to forage for them, but now the raised bed is weeded, there's less apples on the ground for Robert to mow around, and it saves a little on how much feed they would go through without the extra goodies :) #godisgood #silverlining #lookforthegood #midwest #midwestisbest #chickens #chickensofinstagram #ohio #countrylife #homestead #happyhomesteading #plymouthrock #leghorn #happychickens #instagramhomesteaders

Starting to let some of our plants go to seed so we can collect for next year. Our dill was dried and ready, basil is close behind. It is amazing how God has provided everything we need to survive and thrive, you just gotta look for it. We aren't supposed to have a stress free, simple life where everything is handed to you - we don't deserve that. But if you walk with God and put in the effort, He will lead you to the answers and to the things he has placed all around you to help you along the way. He always provides.
