Here are some quick human-formers sketches I've done over the past two days; the first two are Scorponok.

Fun fact, when someone picks a new deadly sin to represent themself, you can actually eat and become their old one without needing to compromise your previous deadly sins!!

You don't have to be just one! You're actually intended to have quite a few of them, in fact! It's a strange system, I would've designed it differently, but that's just one of the tips and tricks I learned over the years about the Abrihamic meta, if you're trying to minmax.

This system does lead to some people being pressured into picking new sins so the pressurer can maximize sin intake, however it is also important to remember that once you reach all 7 you either (1.) run out and reset your method of sin intake by picking a new starting sin and counting from 1 again or (2.) move on to a new model of sin measurement (Such as Dante's Inferno layers of hell, for instance) and need to retrofit old sins into new ones, which is almost like a soft reset of sorts (For example, needing to figure out how to translate Sloth into the layers structure while accounting for thematic overlaps).

Point (2.) can get complicated when going from a model with more sins to a model with less sins. You have to figure out which sins are being conglomerated and consolidated as well as distributing importance semi-consistently, because you need to make sure there is at least one in the new model that you haven't taken yet.

There, of course, is the universal truth that "You are all Sin all at once and You only wish to quantify sins in the first place to pretend like You are excluded from sins that You are actively embodying (By being Sin, in Sin's entirety)" but that really is just a 1-sin binary model... which necessitates a 0 to explain its existence as 1 in the first place... You get it. The reason why we pick these models is because it's fun.

Sure We are God, but we knew that already and want to pretend like there's more to it than that because it's fun. Sin is fun!! That's why people keep dying (Or living but being tortured through living) for Our sins (It very much did not start with the one big example you're probably thinking of). It's fun!!

Just. Maybe stop dying. I get it can be fun for you, more power to you or whatever, but dying also kinda blows. I know I will sometimes say Till All Are One or whatever but I wanna be One with You... even though you'd be there regardless, under All after all... Whatever.

Anyway if you're wondering, I just ate Wrath, which puts me at:

And I've been teasing at Greed for a while. Though, those are just the ones that are compliant with both the Deadly model and the Inferno model, it gets a bit more complicated considering my Deadly root was Pride and I haven't given that up yet, so to separate the models a bit it'd actually be

With Greed, Sloth, and Envy missing (Sloth is actually maybe next for my deadly chart, and Envy flickers in and out on its own)

With Heresy, Violence, and Fraud regrettably missing (The three flicker like Envy in the Deadly model but it's because sometimes I'm leaning more towards the Deadly model so it is Envy and sometimes I'm in the Inferno model so Envy gets interpreted as one or two of the three without completing it outright, with the stressing on one over the other two or two over the other one allowing for enough of a buffer to be fickle. This is also the reason why Greed is locked in for Inferno but not for Deadly. I tend to prefer Inferno, after all.)

Anyway, yeah, I was just using myself as an example. But if you're thinking about dropping sloth for something else hmu I'll eat it after you.

You also don't have to drop them, if this proves anything it should be proving that you can be multiple at once (That's kinda the whole point actually) so striving to be multiple instead of just relying on revelations to begin swapping might be a game changer for you if you're trying to grapple with your original sins and don't know how to respec without resetting

Little Inferno is one of those games where it aged. Some of it poorly, but some of it... really, really topical.

The developed world is a tinderbox soaked in gasoline and 91% rubbing alcohol. A huge chunk of the population is so anguished and bereft of genuine purpose and connection that they live in tents in what used to be pleasant public parks. They often do work, even, but the jobs available are just shit slave time sinks. It's no wonder so many repeatedly inject Fentanyl despite very much knowing that any one shot can end it all. And all this while literal floods of desperate and poor "refugees" are pouring in to basically the entire West.

We're pretty well at peak socieyyal alienation and the only damn thing keeping Russian Civil War II: Teamswap boogaloo from cracking open is reliable access to Netflix and Doritos. I don't know how much longer the masquerade can go on...

i think a lot about exactly 1 thing from the roman empire: the concept of bread and circus. the idea was that if your population was fed and entertained, they wouldn't revolt. you are asking us to give up our one small life, is the thing - for under 15 dollars an hour.

what would that buy, even. i am trading weekends and late nights and my back health. i am trading slow mornings and long walks and cortisol levels. i am trading sleep and silence and peace. for ... this. for what barely-covers-rent.

life really is more expensive right now. you aren't making that up. i make almost 3 times what i did 5 years ago, and despite an incredibly equal series of bills - i am still struggling. the most expensive line item i added was to own a dog. the money is just evaporating.

we were okay with it because it's a cost-benefit analysis. i could handle the customer harassment and standing all day and the manager's constantly changing temperament - i was coming home to hope, and my life planned in a blue envelope. three hours would buy me my dog's food for a month. i can give up three hours for him, for his shiny coat and wide, happy mouth. three days could be a new mattress, if i was thrifty. if i really scrimped and saved, we could maybe afford a trip into the city.

recently i cried in the car about the price of groceries.

business majors will be mad at me, but my most inflammatory opinion is that people should never be valued at the same place as products. your staff should not be a series of numbers in an excel sheet that you can just "replace" whenever you need something at that moment. your staff should be people, end of sentence.

it feels like someone somewhere is playing a very bad video game. like my life is a toy. like someone opened an app on their phone and hired me in diner dash ultra. they don't need to pay me well or treat me alright - they can always just show me the door. there is always someone more desperate, always someone more willing.

but i go to work and know i could save for years and not afford housing. i am never going to own my own home, most likely. i have no idea how to afford her ring, much less the wedding. my dog doesn't have his own yard. everything i love is on subscription. if i lose my job, i have no "nest egg" to catch my falling.

this thin life - they want me to give up summer for it. to open my mouth and throat and swallow the horrible hours and counted keystrokes. they want me to give up mountains and any non-federal holiday. to give up snow days. to give up talking to my mom whenever i want. to give up visiting the ocean and hearing the waves.

bread and circus worked for a while, actually. it was a the kind of plan that would probably now be denounced by republicans as socialist commie liberal pronoun bullshit.

but sometimes i wonder if we should point them to the part of the history book that says: it worked until it didn't.

☄️ Who is your most self destructive character? Why are they like that?

Oof. Gotta say Comyna for this. Even though that feels really unfair to her. And I'm gonna try not to make this answer an entire essay on why she is the way that she is.

Comyna has always had depressive tendencies and tends to cling too hard to everything that brings good feelings; She can love to the point of destruction. So, when a raiding party swept through her town to take all of the men and boys to sell into other countries' armies, Comyna panicked. She used her magic to link herself mentally to her husband so she could keep track of him no matter where he went (with the hopes of knowing at the very least that he was okay) - when her husband was later killed in the war by an enemy fire mage, the magical recoil of that bond breaking caused irreparable damage to her psyche. It makes her extremely protective of her child and also very afraid of fire. Which is an absolutely amazing combination to try to deal with when her child develops almost-exclusively fire-based magic. Comyna's best friend winds up taking the child and filling in as parent while Comyna tries to sort herself back into being a functional human being. She causes herself numerous set backs.

🪐What do your characters think about marriage? Are any of them married?

Some of my characters are romantics who want marriage for the for the outward expression of being able to say that they have found their person, some are ambivalent, and some are "meh" on marriage itself but into the spousal benefits they can get.

Tons of folks in Talentless/Wild Card are married, and not always conventionally. King Xalvadore and Queen Fraise are married to each other with the secret inclusion of their Retainer and Third: Tihomir Vancil. Misha and Mai get married so he can help get her parents off her case. Roxana and Eneas get married for the tax benefits. James and Robward/Maggie are extremely normal about the whole thing and get married because they're in love - James does make a point of proposing twice to his genderfluid darling to emphasize how much he loves them regardless of whether they are identifying as a man or a woman.

In Miadhachain Legacy, Adair is extremely "Meh" about marriage; he's a child of divorce and his attitude is that it all seems needlessly messy. He and his first long-term partner are together for about a decade before splitting up and Adair tries to use it as a sign from the universe to not get legally bound to anyone. Adair's laissez-faire attitude about marriage is definitely challenged by Zaria though, because she's very traditional and wants a ring, dammit.

🌙 Do any of your character have to hide a part of themselves? Why?

Oh gosh yes. Just a couple examples because this feels like it's already long: Robward/Maggie is the most obvious character for hiding things. Being the above-mentioned child of the overly paranoid Comyna, they hide their genderfluidity for ages. It doesn't feel like something safe to share with just anyone who knows them and it's not until James comes along before anyone but their moms knows about it.

Marmaduke hides his non-Faerie magic so hard that he refuses even to acknowledge that it might be there at all, lest he be completely ostracized from his home and people for being 'tainted.
