Arrogance is such an interesting choice of word for Jean to use to describe Neil because in aftg at no point does Neil ever come across as arrogant and no one ever says that about him and yet Jean here and gods reading about Neil from other pov is so interesting

an angle i enjoy in cosmic/eldritch horror is when, instead resorting to the old classic "the horrors being so incomprehensible that they break your brain and drive you mad" cliché, the premise is that in comprehending the horrors you are so changed by the experience that your new state is indistinguishable to an outside observer from madness. you comprehend the unknowable just fine, but actually communicating that to anyone else is impossible because they just don't have the mental framework required to understand it. the eldritch horrors don't drive you mad. what does is the ordinary everyday horror of finding yourself isolated, ridiculed and doubted at every turn, no matter how hard you try to make yourself heard and understood.

#🐉#this is why i liked the way tma did it #where the eldritch is more or less a direct allegory for trauma (among other things)#and how those experiences can make the entire world seem like a different place and make you feel crazy #when other people dont understand what seems so clear and obvious to you #apartment 'complex'? actually i find it quite simple. no guys really its so simple you gotta believe me. why dont you believe me.

So does anybody else ever think about how Loop felt the need to demonstrate that the party's deaths wouldn't have any effect on the loops. I know I do but that's besides the point. Anyway I don't think Loop actually needs to bathe, they just like to feel included.

Love it when a modern "progressive" show makes all the evildoers physically disabled.

Larys has a Clubfoot, Aemond gets his eye cut out, and now Aegon is burnt and missing appendages.

Isn't it convenient that we can immediately tell a person is bad because their body looks different?

And of course, we don't explore any discrimination against these characters because they're horrible, and we shouldn't feel bad for horrible people.

People were mean to Larys because of his Clubfoot? But don't you know he has a gross foot fetish?

Aemond has impaired vision? But his eyepatch looks cool, and he is still a good fighter, so what is he even complaining about?

Aegon has been severely burnt? But he is a rapist and so let's make jokes about his dick burning off, lol.

#adding Helaena as neurodivergent and Alicent as an SA victim makes it even more fucking jarring that all these characters are on TG #Because of the obvious moral whitewashing of TB and Rhaenyra specifically #it is really gross how when you put the 2 factions next to each other you have the morally superior side all be pretty able-bodied people #and the other side is full of disabled people and victims who handle their trauma in unpalatable ways #in f&b this was less of an issue because no side was morally superior and the TG disabilities made an interesting sort of balance #book!Rhaenyra had to struggle because of her gender book!Aegon and Aemond because of their disabilities #but by tipping the scales the show created ruin their chance to create compelling disabled characters #they could have had their version of Tyrion Jaime and Bran instead they wrote a bunch of gross stereotypes #house of the dragon #ableism #hotd critical #anti hotd #aemond targaryen #larys strong #aegon ii targaryen

not enough discussion about the gavins' complicated relationship with feminine-coded/beauty products, i don't think.

#for klavier because it's not as direct it's about how we never see him actually wearing lipstick? even though apollo literally attends #a concert of his which is where you'd most expect him to wear makeup. but apparently he just doesnt. or at least not in public #klavier gavin #kristoph gavin #i feel like there are several ways you can read into it. the misogyny/toxic masculinity one is really obvious clearly with kristoph's #singling out of men specifically and klavier's (probably accidental?) condescending manner of calling women 'fraulein' plus his general #mildly patronising attitude towards many of the women in the game (also probably unintentional)#(i think he's trying to be charming and it's coming off wrong to some of them. like ema. and me.)#but i feel like there's also maybe an element of... inherent perfecfionism to it? like both of these products are conventionally beautifyin #products and kristoph while he is open to showing people he uses nail polish specifically chooses one that's clear and missable unless you #see him apply it. he also feels the need to justify his use of it and specifically spell it out as something he chooses to do rather than #needs to do even though duh. that should be obvious.#idk there's just something about his seeming need to take control of that narrative that i find interesting. his need to spin it into a #'there's nothing wrong with my nails but I had the foresight to see that even the smallest parts of my appearance should be kept immaculate #and it's a choice i'm making to refine an already adequate part of my personage /not/ to cover some unsightly defect.' the need to emphasis #that specifically is so. hm. and with klavier i could see it being a case of him liking makeup liking the pops of colour yet being unwillin #to admit to it because he's afraid that other people might see it as him being dissatisfied with his own appearance regardless of if he is #or isn't. or even just perceiving colourful makeup as being unseemly because it's so overt and unnatural.#like i can see this as them both viewing 'real' beauty to be that which is inherent to a person and seemingly effortless #thus somehow negating the beauty which one achieves through cosmetics or other external means.#and if you want to use external means to achieve beauty or neatness or whatever then your only valid options are those which blend into you #natural state. like clear nail polish. or really awful spray tan.#i feel like klavier's less confined by these ideas (if they hold merit at all) considering he actually owns coloured lipstick and he wears #jewellery (admittedly quite 'masculine' jewellery no gems or pearls or anything like that but jewellery nonetheless) but i think it just #makes it more interesting that he doesnt seem quite able to cross the line anyway. like it's that ingrained into his system.#anyway that's all i've got. you guys should tell me what you think too #annotations

AU Idea: UtRH edition

Tw: dark/manipulative Jason, psychological torture, inevitable mental breakdown

For this AU, everything is the same up until Jason arrives in Gotham. Instead of donning the Red Hood, he never makes it apparent that he came back. Jason is pissed that Bruce won't kill Joker for him. He's upset, angry, hurt, and grieving what he perceives to be a betrayal.

He knows Batman doesn't and won't kill.

So, he'll make Batman kill... By killing people and framing it as Batman.

He even goes so far as to make Bruce doubt whether or not it's Bruce killing people. Jason worsens injuries Batman has already committed, haunts the man as "Jason", and even sneaks sedatives into Bruce's food/drink to make the man think he's passing out/blacking out all the time. He'll even move Bruce's unconscious body to a new place.

He just escalates it as Bruce slowly loses his mind.

And Tim? He's freaking the fuck out cause he has no clue why Bruce is reverting and even getting worse than he was. None of his strategies are helping either

Bonus pet-name edition:

(Yeah I know it's ooc for grovyle to EVER use the term "babe" but lets go ahead and assume he's done it accidentally a few times rather than intentionally. He's deeply in love with the dumb ghostman, ok. Sometimes it just slips out.)

Dusknoir is still recovering from hearing it. And when he finally calls grovyle "love" himself on accident a few days later, he falls deathly ill for two weeks cause his body couldn't handle the aftermath and started rapidly shutting down on a molecular level.

im fully expecting the show to go the way of the movies. it doesnt help Sea of Monsters is almost unanimously the least favorite book of the first series. People frequently forget it even exists or what happens in it, especially more casual fans.

Heck, just look at how little fanfare the second season has gotten so far as compared to the build up to s1. I wouldn't be surprised if s2 totally flops. It would be a little funny.

i left my phone in my room and picked up an actual physical book and sat down on the balcony and read the whole thing can everyone please be so so proud of me

#for reasons that'd take way too long to explain im living at my grandmas house rn for around a month (she's not here)#and she has like a billion detective novels which i love but i lost the ability to read when i was like 12 #i do read books as pdfs sometimes but even that's rare... and they're usually dr w.ho/t.orchwood #it was curtain of poirot fame which I've seen like a billion times coz it's one of my #favourite poirot stories but i've never read it #ms christie is crazyyy coz somehow i still gasped out loud multiple times despite knowing the ending #it's also really cool that you 1000% can guess the ending if you pay attention #i almost always guess the murderer immediately w detective things but i usually watch shows where it's way easier imo #i mean i guess them in books too but they make it less easy coz shows have a limited cast and it's always obvious #anyway damn... i really wanna get back to reading so im gonna try to read other ones as well #she has tons of books in english hungarian and german so the selection is endless #mostly crime novels which is great coz i love those. no prizes for guessing who i get it from #barking
