The Trouble with Ghosts - Part X [FF | AO3]
Lancer hadn’t realized how closely young Mr. Fenton’s school troubles–and the secrets he surely wasn’t telling his parents–were tied to ghosts until after that encounter with Phantom.
<<  <  Part X  >
-|-
The Picture of Dorian Gray, he didn’t think he could stand much more of this.
“Vlad’s like you,” Lancer repeated, and Danny squirmed. “Vlad Masters. The mayor.”
“How many other Vlads do you know?” Danny mumbled, not looking at him.
Lancer didn’t bother to answer that. “He shares your, ah, affliction, and he’s actively hunting you down?” Were there others? Lancer wasn’t sure he wanted to ask right now—Danny would surely latch onto that and turn the conversation in an entirely different direction—but the thought was
disquieting. A human with ghostly abilities
. The potential abuse of power alone was a terrifying prospect, but the number of people who might attempt to gain these powers, were the truth known that such a thing was possible
.
Danny pulled a face but looked up. “I dunno if you can call it an affliction. We’re not sick. I mean, Vlad had the ecto-acne, but that was just because he got blasted in the face. I think. Maybe the pop did way more than just make the proto-portal malfunction. It’s just
. This is more a state of being. We just are this way. It’s easier not to question it.”
Easier for him, no doubt. Lancer wanted to press for details about whatever accident Danny was alluding to—he could guess what the proto-portal must have been, given the installation in the Fentons’ basement, though he was at a loss for everything else—but he didn’t want to allow young Mr. Fenton to lead him on a merry chase away from the subject at hand. Which he was clearly trying to do. Again.
Fortunately, it sounded like the circumstances that led to the creation of these ghostly abilities in humans were rare. Danny hadn’t given any details about his own accident, but if Vlad’s had involved a proto-portal—
No. He wasn’t going to ask now. The dubious safety of the FentonWorks lab could be addressed later. At least
. At least it wasn’t as bad as Lancer had first feared. At least Danny was still alive. He and Vlad both displayed too many signs of life for that not to be the case, particularly if Vlad’s accident had happened in his college years.
“So why, for David Copperfield’s sake, would Mr. Masters be hunting you instead of helping you?” If Vlad’s experience was remotely similar, and surely there must be similarity enough if the effects were the same, he could be helping Danny. Guiding him through this. Rebuilding an old friendship with Jack and Maddie while getting to know their kids. If he fancied Danny as the son he’d never had—
“Hunting me down isn’t the best way of putting it, either,” Danny said instead of answering what Lancer thought was a perfectly reasonable question. “He’s not like Skulker. He doesn’t want my pelt at the foot of his bed or on his mantle or anything gross like that.”
Lancer barely resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Danny was trying to sprinkle in little details that he hoped Lancer would follow up on instead of the more pressing matters at hand. The bait was blatantly obvious.
And harder not to take than it was to spot.
“You said he wishes you were his son. That he’s obsessed, to the point that he’s been conducting genetic experiments. If he wishes to be a mentor to you, why does he seem so set on trying to destroy you?”
“Uh. That’s not really important. I mean, it’s Vlad. It’s hard to say anyway.”
Sometimes, it was very hard to remember that he’d signed up to help his students, not strangle them.
“I rather think I know enough that telling me a few more supposedly unimportant details won’t make a significant difference to my health, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
Danny winced. “Can we just change the subject for now and circle back later?”
Fine. If Danny didn’t want to talk about it right now, they didn’t have to talk about it right now. There was more than enough time for him to tell Lancer exactly which ghost was associated with the mayor—though he had an awful feeling that he might already know, if he allowed himself to think about it for any length of time. In the meantime, there were a number of other matters they should talk about sooner rather than later.
“Would you rather discuss exactly what you should tell Miss Gray?”
“
No?”
“Because you aren’t going to continue to let her do this,” Lancer continued. It wasn’t a question, and from the look on Danny’s face, he knew that. “You can’t. However skilled a ghost hunter she is, however skilled at evading her you usually are, you cannot allow her to continue to hunt you down simply because you feel that it is easier to be hurt and bear that pain and these secrets than to hurt her by telling her the truth.”
“Would you still be saying that if she shot me in the face with her ecto-gun once I told her?”
“Mr. Fenton. Do you honestly believe that would be her reaction?”
Danny was quiet for a moment. Then, “I guess not. But it’s still a possibility.”
“A more distant one than I’m sure you imagine,” Lancer said dryly. “Miss Gray is merely seeking to protect this town, much as you are. If neither of you will stop, you can at the very least share the burden and not make things worse for yourselves.” Danny looked like he was trying to come up with something he could use as a decent protest to this point, so Lancer added, “And if you do not tell her now, you will only invite more trouble for yourself. She is surely suspicious of us both, and if she does go to the mayor with her concerns
.”
“Vlad’s going to be a problem either way.” Lancer just looked at Danny, and Danny relented. “But, yeah, you’re right, if Val mentions seeing me, he’ll know exactly where I am. I just
. Do I really have to tell her?”
That was a concession, whether or not Danny had realized it. “You do know her secret.”
“That’s, um, part of the problem.”
“Which will only grow into a greater problem unless you actively do something to resolve it. Contrary to what we all wish, most problems do not go away when ignored. It is high time you stopped ignoring this one. And once you tell Miss Gray, you will have a better idea of how to tackle the issue when you tell your parents.”
“But I don’t
.” Danny trailed off. Lancer didn’t need to have as many years teaching under his belt as he did to recognize the unhappy expression on Danny’s face. He didn’t want to do this. He had no desire to do this now.
But he also knew he should, and that was one of the many reasons Lancer was going to win this particular argument.
Really, he already had.
“Are you ready to discuss Mr. Masters candidly, then?” Danny shook his head, so Lancer sighed and got to his feet. “Very well. I’ll see if I can catch Miss Gray—or the Red Huntress. Please, for the love of Robinson Crusoe, stay here. You won’t be doing anyone any favours if you try to sneak off, least of all yourself.” In a softer tone, he added, “You aren’t out of the woods quite yet.”
“Vlad doesn’t want me dead,” was all Danny said. He didn’t promise to stay put, and Lancer wasn’t keen on the idea of trusting in young Mr. Fenton’s common sense, but between what Danny had confided and what Lancer had guessed, he hoped there was enough trust between them for Danny to trust him, too.
And trust him enough to listen to him.
He didn’t know if he’d be able to find Valerie, but he knew that if he didn’t leave now, he had no hope until after school was let out. The lunch break would be over soon. If she truly intended to observe that, she couldn’t stay in his neighbourhood for long, even if she was looking for clues to Phantom’s whereabouts. Furthermore, if he were able to find her, convincing her to come back with him would take more time. If Danny truly wanted to run, he’d have ample opportunity.
But trust must go both ways.
Still, it was hard not to regret leaving Danny alone.
XXXXXXXX
Danny wanted to bolt. He stayed in bed, holding his breath and listening as Lancer locked the front door behind him. And then he wanted to jump up and transform and fly away and hide.
Except he still couldn’t fly, and even if he just walked out the front door and left it unlocked behind him, invisibility was still out. And he didn’t know what he could tell his parents about what had happened to him when they inevitably found him. If he walked out as Fenton, someone could call them, if only so they could get some peace and quiet. If he walked out as Phantom, well
.
Danny sighed and slumped back.
Despite what he’d implied when talking about Sam and Tucker borrowing the Spectre Speeder, getting into the Ghost Zone was easier said than done right now, if only because getting home undetected seemed nearly impossible. It offered no guarantee of sanctuary, anyway—at least not from Vlad. Even if there were somewhere safe he could go, running wouldn’t solve his problems. Lancer wasn’t going to let this go. He wouldn’t just forget about this. He wouldn’t just ignore it. Danny had no way to reset the situation.
He wasn’t sure he’d do that even if he had the chance.
He hadn’t thought anyone would react like this. Jazz was concerned, sure, but she’d never tried to stop him from doing what he was. She opposed Vlad when she could, they all did, but he knew she wasn’t doing as much as she might because protecting his secret meant protecting Vlad’s, too.
Except Lancer had figured out his secret, and Danny had told him about Vlad, and even if Vlad could get Lancer fired or worse, Lancer was willing to take the risk.
Or, more accurately, Lancer was willing to face the consequences.
Because there would be consequences.
There had to be consequences.
Even Valerie
. What would Valerie say to this? What would Lancer say to her when he found her? How much was he going to tell her before he expected Danny to admit to everything he’d kept secret for so long? Would Valerie even be able to look him in the eye after this? Would she warm to Phantom because it was him or scorn Fenton because of what he was?
“I need to not worry about this,” Danny muttered. That was easier said than done, of course. Just because he couldn’t control how anyone else would react didn’t mean he wouldn’t rather keep them in the dark forever.
But Lancer was right.
Sooner or later, that ignorance would put them in danger. He might not be able to protect them. And
and not telling them was as much for selfish reasons as any excuse he told himself to justify putting off telling the truth. He really was protecting himself more than he was protecting them.
It was just
hard.
Even just thinking about telling them everything. Valerie, his parents
. So much had happened. Maybe too much. He knew it was easy to put it off, he knew that would only make telling them later harder, but he still
.
He still wished he had more time. That he could do this on his own terms. That he didn’t feel forced into it, between Vlad’s actions and Lancer’s decrees.
If he was being honest with himself, though, he knew that he might never tell anyone unless he had to.
It was too easy to focus on the possible negatives than dare to hope for any of the positives.
Danny lost track of time. He didn’t notice the door open, but he heard voices, and a sudden terror seized in his chest. Lancer had found Valerie. Whatever he’d told her, he’d brought her back, and—
“Danny?” That was Valerie, knocking on the door frame of Lancer’s spare room. Danny blinked and tried to focus. Judging by the confusion on her face, Lancer hadn’t told her much. “Mr. Lancer said you needed to talk to me?”
She didn’t ask why it couldn’t wait, why he hadn’t said anything when she’d been there earlier, or what would so important that Lancer had gone after her and would be perfectly okay with her skipping school for this.
She didn’t really need to, though.
“Yeah.” His voice was weak. Danny swallowed, unsuccessfully trying to push down his fear, and said, “Sit down, Val.”
She looked over her shoulder, but Lancer hadn’t followed her. She moved to the foot of the bed and sat. As the silence stretched between them, Danny could hear a kettle beginning to boil.
Tea—or whatever Lancer offered them—wouldn’t fix this.
Danny wasn’t even sure it would smooth things over.
But it would give him something to hide behind, and Danny was grateful for that.
“What’s going on?” Valerie finally asked.
“I
.” How was he supposed to go about this? He never intended to tell Valerie like this. He wasn’t even sure he’d ever intended to tell her. “It’s, um
. It’s kinda complicated.”
She waited, raising her eyebrows in a prompt to continue when he didn’t.
“It’s just
.” Asking her to promise not to freak out wouldn’t do any good. “Look, recently Mr. Lancer, um, kinda found out a few things.”
“About?”
Everything. “Some, uh, ghost stuff. It’s
. I’m sorry. This isn’t easy to explain.”
Valerie frowned. “Danny, if this is about something your parents invented, why not talk to Sam and Tucker? They know more about that stuff than I do.”
“It’s
not exactly that? It’s, uh
.”
“Look, just why did you want to talk to me? It’s not that I don’t want to be your friend, but this doesn’t really seem like it involves me. I should be in school. You should probably be sleeping if you won’t go to a hospital. Y’know, to regain your strength.”
There was no easy way to say any of this. “I know your secret.”
She froze for a split second before forcing a smile. “It’s not really a secret anymore. Besides, I hardly have to do the mascot job now. I’ve got enough seniority that I’m usually on cash or in the back.”
“I don’t mean your job at the Nasty Burger.” He should just come out and say it. He should—
“I made you two some hot chocolate,” Lancer said, coming into the room with two steaming mugs topped with little marshmallows. He set them on the dresser. “I’ll be in the kitchen doing some marking if you need anything.”
They watched as he left, neither moving to grab the hot chocolate. Danny was tempted, but—
“This is weird,” Valerie said. “I mean, Mr. Lancer’s being nice and all, but it’s still weird. I’m just going to head back to school, okay? Call me after if you actually need something, and—”
“I know you’re the Red Huntress,” Danny said.
Valerie couldn’t school her expression quickly enough, but she still poured the incredulity into her voice as she asked, “Are you kidding? You think I’m the Red Huntress? I mean, I’m flattered, she’s awesome, but I barely have time to do my homework as it is.”
“You got your new suit from Technus,” Danny continued, “but Vlad still supplies all your weapons. And I’m assuming he empties your thermos, too. He’s got a ghost portal in his secret lab.”
Valerie stared at him. “Vlad. As in Vlad Masters? You think he has a secret lab with a ghost portal? Your parents are the ghost hunters, Danny, not him.”
“They worked together in college,” Danny said. “They thought Vlad gave it up after his accident, but he didn’t. He just focused on some other stuff for a while.” He took a slow breath and then chickened out rather than take this opportunity to spill everything. “I know the whole story, Valerie. Including why you started doing this in the first place. You don’t need to keep pretending.”
Valerie studied him in silence, maybe trying to figure out if she could convince him he was wrong. In the end, all she said was, “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help when you got caught in that ghost fight.”
You were. “It, ah, wasn’t the kind of ghost fight that you’re thinking. Look, I know this is a lot to take in. I’ve known for a long time. Pretty much right from the start.”
“How? Who told you?”
Danny rubbed the back of his neck. “No one really needed to tell me. And, uh, you should know that Lancer figured it out, too. When you came by this afternoon.”
Now her eyes were narrowed. “And what gave him that idea? That I’m the Red Huntress just because I dropped by to do some fundraising?”
Danny swallowed. “Because he knows—we both know—that that’s not why you really came. You’re looking for Phantom.”
Valerie straightened up, the last vestiges of her pretense dropping away completely. “He’s here, isn’t he? I knew it. My tracker’s never been that far off. He’s the one who told you two, isn’t he?” Perhaps catching the look on Danny’s face, she hastened to add, “It’s nothing personal, I swear. I know you think he’s a good ghost, but—”
“Valerie, the whole reason you’re hunting ghosts is because it’s personal. You think Phantom’s the reason your dad lost his job, and—”
“You don’t know the whole story,” Valerie interrupted. “You can’t, so don’t pretend you do. And it’s not just about Phantom. He’s not the only ghost in this town. He’s just the only one that’s convinced everyone else except your parents and Mr. Masters that he’s good.”
“Actually,” Danny said slowly, “you’re the one who doesn’t know the whole story.”
He wished he had the hot chocolate to hide behind now, but it was a good thing Valerie was empty-handed; she might be tempted to throw it on him otherwise. It wouldn’t stop her from calling up her suit and trying to shoot him, but hopefully the fact that this was Lancer’s house would if nothing else did. Maybe she’d just settle for screaming at him?
“What are you talking about? Of course I—”
“The thing is,” interrupted Danny, “you never let me tell it.”
“Just now?”
“Pretty much any time you saw me.” She was confused. He could see that easily enough. Confused and ready to protest. Again. And he
. He just had to say it. Say it and show her. “Cujo’s not my dog, and I never meant to ruin your life. I’m sorry.”
“What?”
“I’m
.” He’d come too far not to say it, but he found himself staring at his hands and unable to meet her eyes. “I’m Danny Phantom.”
Silence.
He risked looking up, only to see her staring at him. “I’m, uh, not kidding. I really am Phantom.”
Her expression gave away nothing, so he risked transforming.
It was the only thing he could do to show her, anyway. To prove that he was telling the truth. About everything.
Valerie’s expression tightened, her hands balling into fists, but she didn’t call out her suit. She didn’t try to shoot him.
She blinked.
Blinked again.
Abruptly stood up and left—fled—without a word.
Danny didn’t try to follow her. He just sat there, hoping she’d come back. When he heard Mr. Lancer down the hall, he knew she wasn’t. He got up, closed the bedroom door, and grabbed the two mugs of hot chocolate from the dresser. He kept one as he crawled back into bed and set the other on the bedside table, hoping the drinks would be distraction enough from what had happened.
The mug was lukewarm in his hands, but his insides were cold. He wasn’t particularly hungry anymore, but maybe this would warm him up. He just felt
He just needed something. Jazz would probably hug him, talk to him, but he wasn’t about to go out there and chase Valerie down. He’d rather ask for her forgiveness later. Sometime when he’d worked up the nerve to see her again and she’d actually want to see him again.
Danny took a sip of the hot chocolate. The marshmallows had melted into a sweet foam on top. Ordinarily, he’d like it, but now
.
It was hard to keep his stomach from turning, given Val’s reaction.
After how Lancer had taken it, he’d hoped
. He’d hoped it wouldn’t be this bad. He’d hoped she’d at least talk to him, even if that talk had started with yelling.
But just leaving
.
It was too easy to remember Spectra’s words. Too easy to be tempted to believe them.
Not a ghost, not a boy. A freak. Just some creepy little boy with creepy little powers.
Valerie must see him that way, and if she took it like this
. He’d have to do the damage control he could. Convince Lancer to give it up. Not keep pursuing this, wanting him to tell his parents or do something about Vlad. Things didn’t have to change. He didn’t
. He couldn’t
.
The first tear dripped off his chin and into his hot chocolate.
By the time the last one fell, the drink in his hands was cold.
XXXXXX
Lancer had made a point of leaving the kids to themselves. He didn’t think he’d be a mediating force as much as an interference; the fact that he’d arranged everything, that this meeting was taking place on his terms at his house, should be mediation enough. If he gave them the time to sort this out for themselves, they could work through whatever needed to be worked through. Then, he could help them when they were ready for his help.
He only got halfway through the first essay before Miss Gray appeared at his side. A few tears tracked down her cheeks; most still gathered in her eyes, no doubt blurring her vision as she looked down at him. “Did you know?” she whispered.
He had perhaps misjudged the situation after all. Lancer gestured for Valerie to pull out a chair, and she did, barely looking as she flopped down. “I learned about your, ah, extracurricular activities less than an hour ago.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“I’m afraid I only found out about Mr. Fenton’s condition this morning as well.” In truth, it hadn’t been long before Miss Gray had turned up on his doorstep, but it felt much longer.
Maybe he had pushed too hard, rushed this, but given the circumstances his students were facing, he couldn’t bring himself to regret it.
It was better that the truth came out now rather than in worse circumstances. Whatever Danny thought, he couldn’t keep his secret forever. From the rest of the world, sure, but those he interacted with so often? Particularly when he’d said his ghostly enemies were well aware of the situation? Not all the ghosts he faced would be so honourable as to respect his wishes. Sooner or later, one would come along which would use his secrecy against him.
As far as Lancer was concerned, Vlad Masters already was.
“Then you
.” Valerie sniffed and wiped at her nose with the back of one hand. “Then you know what I’ve done. What I’ve been doing. I
I thought
. Why wouldn’t he just tell me? Explain? I wouldn’t have
. I wouldn’t
.”
“I expect he was afraid,” Lancer murmured. He reached over to the counter for a box of tissues and passed them to Valerie. She took one and almost immediately needed another. “Not of you, Miss Gray. Not exactly. He was afraid to hope for the best. This means that he feared not being believed, that the misunderstandings would grow, or perhaps that people would be angry at him for keeping his secret as long as he did and not try to understand why he would make that choice. Perhaps most of all, he feared the consequences of hoping the truth would be well received and finding that hope misplaced.”
Valerie sniffled but said nothing.
“Some of his reasons for keeping his secrets,” added Lancer quietly, “might well align with yours.”
She stiffened but didn’t deny it, which confirmed his suspicion that very few people knew the identity of the Red Huntress.
“Another reason for wanting to keep his secret is that he didn’t want to hurt you with the truth.”
“That’s stupid,” Valerie said immediately. “I mean, I could’ve
. I almost
.” She shook her head. “I need to tell my benefactor. He’ll
. He’ll be able to fix my stuff. Make sure it doesn’t hurt Danny. So I don’t do this again by mistake. I don’t
. I can’t hurt him. Not again.”
Lancer blinked. Danny hadn’t told her that Vlad—? “I’m afraid Mr. Masters is already aware of the situation.”
“What?” The news seemed to have shocked away her tears. “No, he can’t be. He’s only after ghosts. Danny’s human.” She hesitated. “Isn’t he?”
“He’s still human,” Lancer assured her. He didn’t know the details, but if nothing else, Danny was human in every way that mattered.
At least Valerie wasn’t trying to deny Vlad’s involvement. She no doubt correctly suspected that Danny had filled him in on that little tidbit after he’d deduced her identity. That was for the best; he’d like her cooperation moving forward.
“Then he can’t know. He wouldn’t
. He asked me to go after Phantom!”
“From what Danny tells me,” Lancer said quietly, “he is not the most scrupulous of people.” Cloning. Experimentation. He’d spare Valerie the details for now; she’d no doubt have questions he couldn’t answer. “You would have to ask Danny to explain what he can to you. In the grand scheme of things, I fear he’s told me very little.”
Valerie said nothing, focusing instead on stuffing the mound of damp tissues on her lap into a dry one, which she promptly shoved into her pocket.
At least it wasn’t another denial.
“I know this is a lot to take in.” Treasure Island, he knew. “It may be little comfort, but I called the school after you went in to talk to Danny. Your absence this afternoon is excused. I know you would likely prefer to clear your head, but if you’re willing, Danny could use our help.”
Her mouth twisted. “Right. Because he’s still recovering. From being in a ghost fight. Where he was the ghost.” She took a shuddering breath and wiped at her eyes. “Yeah. I’ll do whatever I can.”

Rowaelin AU! chapter two
AU! where the valg wars never happened, but Rowan and Aelin still stumble upon each other anyway
Chapter 1      Ao3       Masterlist
***
This was the worst possible thing that could have happened.
Rowan stood beside the king and queen, completely taken aback by the sight of the princess. When Rowan had gotten roaring drunk the night before and decided to sleep with a seemingly perfect stranger, he could never have imagined that the woman he'd bedded would be the one standing before him now. She was exquisite, and even through the haze of his hangover he knew her to be beautiful.
And to be a colossal mistake.
He was just glad Lorcan wasn't here to witness this embarrassment; he would never live it down.
"Princess Aelin, might I please introduce Prince Rowan Whitethorn of Doranelle, your new mentor."
Either she didn't recognise him, or she hid her expression perfectly. She had the snake smile of any royal plastered on her face, a unique expression in a humble court. The slight tilt of her lips was acknowledging, but nothing else.
"He comes to highly recommended my dear," her father, King Rhoe, said, beaming at his daughter. "Your Uncle Gavriel was the one who told us he would be perfect."
Rowan considered fleeing so that he didn't have to face the wrath of Gavriel if he ever discovered Rowan bedded his niece. Rowan had been saddened that he wouldn't see the male until Gavriel returned from assignment, now he was grateful. He had the chance to wash the scent of the princess off before anyone could notice he was slathered with her.
"He has been a teacher for Doranelle for over a century; he trains their army and is a leading commander."
Aelin's smile tightened, although Rowan didn't think anyone would be able to notice.
"And why would such a high ranking commander come to Orynth to help train me?" Her voice was melodic, and oh so incredibly fake. Did no one else see it?
Rowan looked over the courtiers gathered. He knew Terrasen was a prosperous kingdom, and it showed in their nobility. It was always obvious when wealth and health had been faked, but Orynth really was a dream for its inhabitants. Inhabitants who looked at their princess with concern - not for her, but for themselves. They were afraid.
Interesting.
"Aelin, please," Queen Evalin's voice was taught. "This could help you, don't you understand? We're running out of options, and after-"
"What your mother means to say, my dear, is that Prince Rowan is the best of the best, and we're thrilled to have him here with you. We believe that you could grow so much from this." King Rhoe turned to Rowan, a friendly smile on his face. "You have my full trust with my daughter."
Rowan tried to smile back, as if he hadn’t already devoured the woman he’d sworn to help. How he was going to fix this mess, he didn’t know, but one thing was for sure. He could not, under any circumstances, be involved with the princess.
___
Rowan was wrapping his hands as he waited for Princess Aelin. At first, there was expected to be an audience to their training. He dismissed them thoroughly, or, in the words of Lorcan, aggressively. Now, his commanding officer was the only one in the room, and he was grinning like a banshee.
"This is the best thing to happen to me all day."
"Shut the fuck up, Lorcan."
"I take you here for a break. I give you lots of space to be a moody little shit, and just when it's looking like you might smile again, you have your first one-night stand with the worst possible person."
"You tried to fuck her too."
"Yes, but I was unsuccessful."
Before they could continue bickering, the door to the side of the courtyard opened. They were in a square, outdoor space lined with columns. Behind them were mazes of paths, and high hedges to keep out wandering eyes. It would be an ideal space for physical training, which is what Rowan would start with. If the previous night was anything to go by, she had little control. She could use some refinement - her movement was too wild. Even in the throne room, she was practically vibrating.
The princess walked in with two men at her helm. One man was a brunette human, two swords strapped to his back. The other was a fae male, and Rowan would recognise him anywhere. It was Gavriel's boy, the one that made him leave Doranelle all those years ago. Rowan didn't begrudge him that - Gavriel was head over heels with his woman when they discovered the pregnancy. And as forgiving as the Ashryver's tend to be, they could be archaic in the worst ways.
"Princess, I have requested that there be no audience for our training sessions," Rowan said, voice as impassive as he could make it. He could feel his heart starting to beat faster.
"This is Aedion and Ren, they insist on following me wherever I go." She smiled, taking a step towards him. "They're very needy."
She was talking to him in the same voice she'd used last night, the kind of voice that made you think she was divulging her deepest secrets. It was as if she thought this whole situation was humorous.
Rowan would soon let her know that it was not.
"Prince Aedion, Ren." Rowan nodded at them. "I do not need babysitters, I have been training the most ruthless fae since before you were even a thought in your parent's mind. Lorcan, if you could escort them away while I train the princess."
"That's not happening," Ren smirked. “You may have come highly praised by Gavriel, but you are still a stranger.”
Aedion looked thoughtful. He tilted his head, and Rowan ignored the princess and her guard to take him in.
Gavriel had clearly raised the boy in his image. Everything about him - his defined muscles, scars on his body, posture - spoke of a well-trained soldier. He observed Rowan the way that Rowan looked over him, and he seemed displeased with what he saw. That, or he had quite the poker face.
“I’ve heard stories of you and him,” Aedion swept his hand in the direction of Lorcan, “my entire life. You could be the worst thing that has ever stepped foot into this court if you wanted to be. I know the best things about you, but I’m also well aware of the shittest. I suspect the only reason you are held in such high regard is because, so far, you have been on the same side as us. For only my trust in my father, I’ll leave you with her.” Aedion stepped around the princess, his gaze feral as he approached Rowan. “But if you cross her, be warned that it will be a signature on your death warrant.”
With that, the boy turned and stormed away, Ren following him after a quick scowl in their direction. As soon as they were out the door, Lorcan opened his big fat mouth with a rapturous laugh. “The unwarranted confidence on that boy is astounding. He couldn’t step an inch in our direction before he’d be dead.”
Rowan rolled his eyes. “Leave, Lorcan.”
He looked at him aghast. “Why?”
“I told you, no babysitters. Piss off.”
Lorcan bowed theatrically to Rowan and winked at the princess before escorting himself out, leaving Rowan alone, finally, with her.
She wore loose clothes that would help her body breathe in the heat. Her shirt was short sleeved and white, and dipped just to the top of her chest, hinting at what may lie beneath. A brown belt was at her waist, a few knives casually hanging from it. Her hair was up in a tight bun on her head, making her now-human face longer and sharper. This must be her animal form - how curious. A light breeze blew through, and he could still smell his scent on her. Any fae who came across them both and was worth their weight would know what had transpired between Rowan and the woman before him.
He was unsure of what to say now that they were alone.
“So, this was
unexpected,” she breathed, her face finally showing something other than indifference. “When I was told they were shipping someone in to train me, I expected some old bastard.”
Rowan swallowed hard. “I can assure you Princess, I am the best.”
“Aelin, please call me by my name.”
He ignored her plight. “Princess, stand with your legs shoulder width apart. I want to see what you can do.”
___
His offer had sounded sexy at first, but Aelin soon found out that he was gruelling. There was no chit-chat, certainly no flirting, and he pushed her to her limits. He handed her weapon after weapon and kicked her ass every time, assessing her skills in each. In hand to hand combat, her favourite, he’d had her on her back barely able to breathe in seconds. It was a far cry from the night before, when she had been breathless for very different reasons. Any time she tried to speak, he would invent some new way to torture her. More surprisingly, every time her flames rose to the surface of her skin and started to burn, she would feel a blanket of magic smother it.
“I don’t understand,” she said five hours into their session. “Why can’t I use my magic?”
He clicked his tongue. “The magic will come, but right now, I want to see what else you can do.”
She gritted her teeth and continued, pushing through the burning pain in her limbs. It was another forty minutes before Rowan finally called it. He looked barely affected while she was covered in sweat and barely able to breathe.
“An ice bath will help with the pain. I’ll see you at the same time tomorrow. At the behest of your parents, I’ve placed wards on your room so that your fire might be contained in the event of an accident. They won’t stop anything if I’m not there, but they’ll slow it down.”
“When did you go in my room?” she heaved, her knees and hands shaking. Blisters littered her hands, and if she didn’t think it would make her look weak, she’d run to the healers and have them soothe them.
“I did it from your balcony yesterday afternoon, I was told you were out with Dorian.”
“So you’ll call him Dorian but you won’t call me Aelin? Are you punishing me for forgetting to ask you name last night.”
Rowan was packing up the equipment they’d used, cold in his movements. Facing away from her, he said, “Gavriel may have given me a reason to come here, but it was your father who approached him, to ask if the rumours about my abilities were true. He’d heard about me from King Dorian the first, after I helped his son. That’s how I was able to get here so quickly, I came with him from Adarlan.”
“So you’re what, friends?”
“Some might say that.”
“Two friends for two countries.” Her lips tentatively turned up, hoping that even without her flame she could warm him.
Rowan didn’t smile back like she was expecting. He had been hard during their training, but she thought that was just because he was in instructor mode. She was still struggling to put the two Rowan’s she knew together. The one from the night before, that was playful and enticing, and the one here, who was a talking statue.
“So, a blacksmith?” she teased, wondering why he had lied about his profession.
“It’s a hobby. You aren’t a pianist.”
“I really do play every week at the theatre. I’m doing a solo tomorrow, if you’d like to come and watch.” What she didn’t say if that shewould like him to come. She felt inexplicably drawn to him, but that could just be from a false sense of connection driven by her horniness.
“I’ll be busy.”
“Next week, then.”
He sighed deeply, turning his face to the ceiling as he finished putting away the last sword. “Princess, last night was a mistake, one fuelled by alcohol and anonymity. It won’t happen again.”
She scrunched up her face. “I wasn’t asking you to sneak into my room and fuck me, I was asking if you’d like to see me play since we’ll be spending so much time together. We may as well get to know each other.”
“I’m not interested in knowing you. You’re a job. An obligation. I’m here as a favour to an old friend, and because your parents think you’re an incompetent heir who is more likely to burn her kingdom down than rule it.”
Aelin flinched at the words, knowing they were true. Not just his total lack of interest, which by now was starkly apparent, but also why her parents had brought him here. She saw it every time they looked at her, the love, but also the fear that she would destroy them all. Her eyes burned, and she blinked hard. Gods, what a pathetic picture she must have painted.
“Noted.” Aelin pressed her lips together and got up, striding off. She made sure her back was straight and shoulders were up, feigning so he didn’t know how much his words affected her. With her hand on the doorknob, she asked one last question before she would sequester herself away. “What kind of magic do you have anyway?”
“You may be fire, but I’m all water and air - everything needed to obliterate you.”
As soon as she was out of his sight, she violently vomited.

The covert narcissists: how to find them out and get out.
Tumblr media
When someone says the word “narcissist” most people will picture a boastful hedonist, a woman enamoured with her own appearance, a successful surgeon who despises his/her peers and patients, the Dorian Greys, the Neros, the Cersei Lannisters of this world.
What if I told you that there is a strain of narcissim that is nothing like what you imagine? It’s every bit as eroding of mind f$%kery as the overt (or proud) narcissim but much harder to detect. An ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing also known as covert/shy/sensitive/vulnarable narcissist, who posesses all of the ugly traits and offers so very few clues to their true nature. These bashful self-loathers thrive on co-dependencies and are incapable of love (for self or others). So who are they and why are they so dangerous?
A covert narcissist, just like any co-dependent out there, is a product of a dysfunctional upbrunging. Frequently at the centre of it an abusive parental figure. As a child a future shy marcissit is unable to mitigate the abusive blows, nor are they adaptable or astute enough to learn how to appease their unloving parent (people-pleasing ia signature survival strategy of co-dependents). Oftentimes they are blamed by their parent for the lack of parental love they fail to earn. These children would grow to believe that they are stupid, unattractive, useless, unworthy of love and so forth. Such level of abuse is enough to stunt their emotional growth. As a matter of fact narcissists have very low emotional IQ and enjoy much poorer emotional health compared to general population and even the co-dependents who survived similar abuse in their families. There are two survival strategies/outcomes that a child who failed to tickle their abusers ego, will have to adopt to survive such hostillities: first, they will have to create a false self that feels superior to others as the true self is shattered and battered to pulp; second, being in the position of power is the only way not ever be hurt; power must be asserted and mantained by all means. Shy narcissists truly hold their own self in contempt, despising the weak self and hating their own narcissistic urges in equal measure. Such person is a contradiction wrapped in existential crisis, truly a Colossus on clay feet.
There is no end to the contradicting nature of the shy narcissit. They will boast about their exemplary family, their talented father, their doting mother, all the while their andecdotes offer horrifying glimses through cracks of their shattered childhood that reveal the contrary. They will share how they “sometimes hate themselves” and you will feel sorry for them; the next minute they announce that they are so special that mediocre people can’t understand them (yes, you included!). They will tell you they are sensitive, so very sensitive, but as it soon transpires such sensitivities are reserved solely for their own hurt feelings. And boy do those bruise easily! Narcissists, shy or otherwise, cannot stand the difference of opinion. As far as they see it, if you aren’t with them, you are against them. If you were to disagree with the narcissist or point out an error, they will blow up. To such person mistakes translate into a sense of the deepest inadequacy. If you say “I disagree with you” in their mind you might as well be saying “You are wrong and stupid”, which of course is infuriating to a shy narcissit. A covert narcissict will abuse people around them and claim to be the victim. Such person would routinely and deliberately be late for work and be genuinly outraged at their management for calling a disciplinary hearing to address chronic tardiness. If you are unfortunate enough to be their confidant (and a lot of co-dependents end up sucked up into relationships with these seemingly helpless individuals) you will be used as an emotional waste bucket. You will be bestowed with tales of the narcissist’s gargantuan workload, the stupidity of each and every colleague of theirs, the unfairness, so so much unfairness...! and you will swallow the bait. You will feel sorry for this victimised soul. After all you know what it feels like to be treated unfairly! You will soon find out that your narcissit has no intention to ever reciprocate the favour. Your day at work is of no interest to them. They couldn’t give two shits about you or your problems.
This brings up another symptom of the sensitve narcissism. Anything that doesn’t revolve around them will be trivialised. If you have a scratch a narcissit will make sure that their experience is that of a lifethreatening blood loss. If you got soaked in the rain, they nearly drowned. Everything that happens to you must pale in comparisson to their suffering!
Same counts for their inability to support your achievements or celebrate your strengths. You can whip up a royal dinner for them and they will complain that some of it is cold to thereafter consume your efforts with expression of utter disgust. Forget about thanks! You can share your expertise on something but they will invariably dismisss it or diminish it. They wil tell you exactly what you are, what you know and how much of it you are to share. The answers to these are: nothing, nothing and nothing once more.
Most of all they hate being outed. That’s the principal reason for their undiluted terrror that keeps them from forming deep connections. Wearing the mask of misunderstood, unfairly treated, poor lil old me, they move arcane through masses of people who will never know the depth of seething hatred they just brushed past. In an intimate relationship the cracks will show, the inconsistencies will let that hideous nature seep through, and you will have to simply cut your losses and get out. There is no merit in staying. A narcissit will only feel good at your expense. They can’t otherwise. Having left my own vulnarable narcissist years ago, I can tell you two very important things. First thing, they will make it as hard as they can for you to leave them. They will lie, threaten, plead tearfully and make promises they will never deliver on. Remember, as far as they see it you are not entitled to call the shots on the matter; they are the ones who get to discard you once they’ve supped every drop of life out you. Second, and perhaps the most important thing, is that leaving them is best gift you can grant yourself. It’s worth it. The freedom from their nasty little kingdom of terror and paranoia is a right, not a privilege. You owe it to yourself. Please be careful though and plan your exit to avoid/mimimise retaliation as if you would with any abuser. Enroll your most trusted friend (he or she will undoubtedly be the one “who never liked the guy/gal”), your therapist and any non-narcisstic family members of your own. Don’t get discouraged if you get lured back in on false pretenses. It can take several tries to get out of the mess, but the freedom from abuse by a self pittying prick is so worth it! Trust me, I know.
Take care now and always
xx

The magic is within me and I’m more than capable of making my dreams come true.I explore my fantasies to become braver and reveal ways to transform obstacles/setbacks into opportunities.I wisely use play as a serious business to fuel my confidence.I’m more than capable of growing my visions over time.I set goals that surely get me going in the right direction.I use my intuition and empathy to attract various types of encouragement  andor support in my lifeas well as being a source of encouragement andor support when I am called andor asked to do so.I get better at meeting my deadlines and goal timeframes with plenty of time to spare.I’m becoming a more psychic and wiser person each day.I’m becoming more creative each day.I’m becoming more self-confident and tapping into my multidimensional nature more and more each day.               Adrienne and Angus Wilson have been happily married over 14 years now and have been living in England for at least two of the 4 weeks that they have planned to do so. What has helped is the fact that Adrienne received a $125,000  after taxes windfall from her book writing that allowed her to study creative writing for 3 weeks at Oxford University in England from June 2017 until July 2017. Angus and Adrienne have planned to budget  a maximum of 3500 dollars maximum for living expenses for the 4 weeks in order for them to keep the remainder money for their living expenses when they return to the United States.  Adrienne and Angus Wilson crunched the numbers  to ensure that they would still have over 123,00 dollars after taxes left to carry them over for at least 2-3 years when they return to the states. Adrienne and Angus Wilson made sure to save at least over $15,000 dollars for living expenses when Adrienne and Angus Wilson got the unexpected $125,000 windfall.  Adrienne Wilson was pleasantly surprised by this due to the fact that she intentionally wrote a popular book under a cleverly disguised penname. Adrienne was actually perusing a an online link involving top colleges for aspiring writers when she got the news of her large check for her book writing.During this time, they have had the chance to see the various sights of Europe and England during just the one week. For instance, Adrienne and Angus Wilson visited Germany during one of their weekends and met up with an online penpal of Adrienne’s. Fortunately, the visit went well and Adrienne had a chance to take in some sights of Germany. Both Adrienne and Angus plan on enjoying various sights of England during the week and to briefly visit a part of Switzerland this Saturday. On a Wednesday night, Adrienne and Angus even plan on going to a concert together. They were able to score reasonably priced tickets from the school to see a concert that features both One Republic and Robbie Williams. Adrienne looks at the online concert playlists that Robbie Williams and One Republic have already played at their previous concerts from the week before. Apparently, Robbie Williams played a well-received performance of Feel at one of his recent concerts. Meanwhile, at the same concert, One Republic enjoyed a positive reception when they opened with the songs Counting Stars, Love Runs Out, and Good Life.Adrienne and Angus go back to their room and decide on their next strategy. This is because Adrienne got out of her creative class early today and has five hours before the concert to get ready.  Adrienne comes back to the modern private suite that Angus is waiting for her in.  Adrienne walks in and notices that the song Have I Told You Lately by Rod Stewart comes on.  Adrienne is curious which channel Angus is watching  because the song Sweet Dreams by Beyonce comes on. Angus invites Adrienne to sit with him and catch some music videos that are featuring on the television. Adrienne is curious to see which channel Angus is watching Adrienne cuddles up to Angus on a very comfortable silver, gold, and red velvet couch. However,  Adrienne realizes that she must have went to sleep because she sees a professional rival from her past appear in her dream via an airplane while the song is still playing. For whatever reason, Adrienne feels guided to tell the rival that she just wants to put the past behind both of them.  Adrienne’s rival agrees because she is now happier in her life. Adrienne’s rival makes it clear that she wants to be considered her ally. Adrienne’s newfound ally tells her that she has been granted permission to let her know that Adrienne has inspired her when it comes to her writing and career goals. What this has to do with them seeing each other is that she has been sent to encourage her to keep going with those goals. Before Adrienne, could ask more questions, the background turns into a flying school bus taking her into a different world similar to the Halloweentown movie featuring  the late Debbie Reynolds.  Whatever world she just entered in actually looks like a related replica of the world featured in Halloweentown just with more recent music than when the movie was released. For instance, she notices that many of the female and male high school children are gathering costumes and a theatrical stage together as she hears the end of the song Dreams by Beck, which enters into Anubis by Mike Candys.  The students all dance in Anubis inspired costumes similar to the Anubis music video with even one of the students acting in the role of Mike Candy.  However, what is strange to Adrienne is that the students (who look to be around 18 years old) seem to partake in a ritual that involves them skinnydipping  into a clear blue lake as part of their high school graduation ceremony and a ritual into an occult society very secret even in that world. There are adults (seemingly with benevolent intentions) dressed in gold and pink robes standing by ready to hand them aqua blue robes as they step out of the pool.Adrienne looks at herself and noticed that she is dressed in a purple and peach robe for whatever reason. Adrienne then wonders what is the purpose of her both being there and what she is to do next when a male spirit with a white porcelain mask and a bright silver robe comes up to her.Without hesitation, the male spirit tells her to just call him Dorian. Dorian explains to Adrienne that she has not yet met him during  her lifetime and he is not allowed to tell her when she will meet him, only that she will. Dorian is only allowed to tell her that the Halloweentown image that she is seeing holds a clue to her life purpose that he has to let her figure out. However, Dorian makes it clear that they are going to see a lot of each other during her 1400 years in the afterlife before she reincarnates back on earth or into another world.
Without delay, Dorian hands Adrienne 5 different pictures to interpret under the words one key, two key, three key, four key. The first picture is of a house under the one key label. The second picture is of money with the bank account and the words at least $13,500 dollars on top. The third picture is of Adrienne and Angus’s apartment being completely immaculate and with things packed, almost ready for moving to an upgraded apartment. The fourth image involves a picture of the words music, writing, and power.  The fifth key involves the words follow your passion when choosing where to live long-term, and then great power with intent.Dorian then explains to Adrienne, there is only a limited time for communication. As a result only three of the five keys could be explained for now. Dorian then explains to Adrienne, for success in living in alignment with your life purpose, these keys must be followed regardless of what other well-meaning people say. Key two with the $13,500 symbol signifies that the money goal of building and maintaining at least two years of savings must take precedence over other goals. Dorian then admits to Adrienne that her celestial spirit ally team is still trying to work out whether to let her live a long life or allow her to die early via a mercy death. Dorian then briefly explains that a mercy death sometimes happens to someone who dies before they are 55 years old not so much to punish them but more if they are not living in alignment with their life purpose and they do not financially have the chance to resolve what they created in their lifetime. For instance, he gave a case study of a woman who unexpectedly died at the age of 34 in her sleep even in good health, a year after she succeeded in paying her student loans on time. Fortunately, there was not anybody who cosigned on her student loans and so the student loan debt died with her.  Dorian then explains that tragically more people are going to pass away before they would even come halfway close to repaying their student loans. Dorian then made the prediction that eventually legislation is going to be passed in the U.S., Europe, New Zealand, Canada, and Australia by the year 2150 or sooner that allows a person to declare bankruptcy on their student loans for at least one time in their lifetime. The caveat is that the person is not going to be allowed to borrow money again for their current lifetime. However, Dorian makes a prediction to Adrienne that this is actually going to be a major boost to the U.S. economy when it happens. This is because more people are going to be more careful with their money to the point that more money goes back both into savings accounts,  more houses bought, more groceries bought etc.Dorian explains that what this has to do with Adrienne is that her fate is still up in the air when it comes to whether she sees her 50
th
birthday or 90
th
birthday. Dorian explains that Adrienne is going to die in good physical health, but that her celestial spirit ally team is trying to help her focus more on building her savings account to at least a six to two year living fund as she pays at least the minimum on her student loans. Dorian then bluntly explains to Adrienne that she increases her chances of living a long life if she could boost her savings account to at least a year or more living expenses (plus a paid for house) because she will then be able to at least consistently pay the minimum amount on her student loans while having plenty of money left over for living expenses and savings. Dorian then explains that Adrienne will also have more energy to focus on fulfilling her life purpose. Dorian truthfully tells Adrienne that building at least a one year living expense fund would accomplish her to be able to consistently pay back at the least the minimum on her student loans and spare her from a karmic mercy death.Dorian explains to Adrienne that the first key involving a home denotes that greater prosperity and the essence of peace of mind would more easily magnetize to her and Angus. This is because they are in a generation where apartment rents are only going to continue to increase, some even double the amount they are in various U.S. cities within the next ten years with housing vouchers becoming greatly restricted for people who are child-free even in old age and even limited housing vouchers for people with kids. Dorian bluntly tells Adrienne that the happiest way to secure greater prosperity for herself and her husband Angus (even if they stay in the same house for life) is to focus on purchasing and paying off a home as soon as possible and simultaneously with building her savings. This too would help reduce the risk of a mercy death for herself and help her be a better financial provider for her husband Angus.Dorian then brings Adrienne to a table that is orange and violet with a group of spirits disguised as dolls yet with what Adrienne senses benevolent eyes. On the table Adrienne then sees the Hiring the Heavens book by Jean Slatter. Dorian explains to Adrienne that they are witnessing her taking in the lesson/key that she is about to be given. With that explained, Dorian explains that part of her life purpose in the stage of her life is to pick a place that she is passionate about for both her and her husband to settle down for the rest of their lives. The place would be a base for them to live and return to even after they travel. Dorian explained to Adrienne that this must be a place where she truly wants to purchase a completely paid for home for both herself and her husband. Dorian then bluntly explains that the length of her lifespan partially depends on her following this guidance regardless of how her intent and decision is received by others. Before Adrienne can ask more questions, Dorian hugs her and explains that he must let her figure out the other keys on her own. For whatever reason, Adrienne asks Dorian if her celestial spirit ally team could show her another part of her life purpose puzzle even if she is left to figure this piece on her own. Much to Adrienne’s pleasant surprise, Dorian cheerfully exclaims “Permission Granted” as  he hugs her one last time.Adrienne opens up her eyes as she lands on a pier where a hospital looking naval ship is based. This hospital looking naval ship looks like the USNS Comfort and Adrienne catches the end of a song mashup involving the songs Hurricane and Up In The Air by Thirty Seconds To Mars which leads to the beginning of the song Time of the Season by the Zombies. For whatever reason, Adrienne sees her husband Angus surrounded by spirits in zombie dressed costumes. She is given the ability to fly towards rescuing him. Angus then politely tells Adrienne it is sweet of you to try to rescue me but I am in part of a play with some of your coworkers that are dressed in zombie costumes. Adrienne looks at herself dressed in a navy uniform with her last name on it and feels a slight twinge of embarrassment. Luckily, three of her coworkers along with her husband laugh and playfully jab her. An intuitive awareness comes over Adrienne that she was the one who actually asked her husband Angus to volunteer in a theater play that is going to be reenacted on the USNS Comfort as a practice warm-up (for a theater play that they all agreed to do on one of the military bases).  Towards the end of the Time of The Season song by the Zombies, Adrienne looks up and sees what looks to be members of the group performing the song on the USNS Comfort ship. Adrienne tries to decide what type of job she must be holding (even in her lucid dream) because she picks up in this dream that she is back in the U.S. Navy andor doing some civilian work affiliated with them.Less than a few seconds later, she feels a warm tingling sensation on her forehead. Adrienne’s husband Angus wakes her up from her 2 hour slumber so that they have time to shower together, eat a nice meal at one of the nearby restaurants, and make it to the Robbie Williams/One Republic concert in time before the long lines form at the concert.  Angus informed her that he helped Adrienne rest on the couch after she got done listening to Sweet Dreams by Beyonce. A few seconds later, Adrienne realizes that the Time of the Season song in her dream (by The Zombies) connected to the key that Dorian was giving in the dream involving the fourth key-words, music, writing, and power.

I admit that it was eerily fascinating to me when I unintentionally saw on the website her campus an article titled that’s so throwback Disney stars then and now by alex amato on January 1, 2015 at 12;30 pm. The story had a link that showed halloweentown being screened on the Disney channel on January 2, 2015. Mind you, I stumbled across this Disney affiliated article sometime around late night January 1/early of January 2, 2015 after I previously ordered this halloweentown/Halloween II dvd from amazon on Thursday December 18, 2014. Currently this dvd set sells for twelve dollars and 96 centsf but I am lucky to purchase a great copy of halloweentown/halloweentown II at just eight dollars and 93 cents. Halloweentown is a movie that deals with the plot of gwen (Judith hoag) doing her best as a single mother to her children marnie Cromwell (kimberley j. brown), Dylan (joey zimmerman), however she is also shielding her children from their magical heritages. Gwen Cromwell’s mother Aggie Cromwell (Debbie Reynolds) wants to train her grandchildren in the magickal arts and take them to halloweentown. Gwen tries in vain to stop marnie from following Aggie, but marnie successfully finds a way especially after hearing and being intrigued by halloweentown. The second movie Halloween town; kalabar’s revenge was completely different from the plot of the first halloweentown movie but deals with a family member who was related to the villain from the first halloweentown. The halloweentown and the halloweentown 2 dvd set comes with these bonus features; trailer promotionals for the greatest game ever played, shaggy dog, that’s so raven disguise the limit, phil of the future gadgets and gizmos, kronks new groove, the magic of the halloweentown movies, twitches, and backstage disney. Both Halloweentown and halloweentown 2 are good for those who like family friendly fantasy films.

Hiring the Heavens: A Practical Guide to Developing Working Relationships with the Spirits of Creation (Paperback)
This is a very creatively written book by I am for certain a very creative author. I enjoyed reading this book especially because it helps remind one that spiritually there is always help for one in the spiritual realms. This is a very creative and enlightening book on connecting to the spiritual/celestial realms for help and using your imagination to hire the celestial helpers for your everyday concerns to tap into the universal energy for assistance. It is a very brief but informative and entertaining read. Admittedly I was also persuaded by Janet's positive review of the book (thank you Janet) and am glad to have purchased it. I would definitely have to agree that this is a practical guide to developing working relationships with the spirits of creation and it gives interesting ideas on names to give for committees that you would hire based on concerns and holding "meetings" regarding the help you need. I personally have used some of the suggestions in this book and it has helped make my life easier. Definitely consider this guide if you are in the process of deciding.

Blissful Dreams
By
Stella Carrier
on August 22, 2012Format: MP3 Music"Sweet Dreams" by Beyonce first came into my awareness during the winter season of late 2009, when I was still living in Orlando, Florida. The song grew on me after I listened to it many times on the radio stations that were playing it. I also enjoyed the video to this song and highly recommend it for those who may be undecided about purchasing the song. It is a heartwarming love song and communicates a message of lasting love with the lyrics "Not Even Death Can Make Us Part". Please know that my husband and I have a healthy partnership and that we both actually encourage each other to move on to the next realm whenever we both pass away. It is just that from my subjective but humble perspective, the lyrics of "Not Even Death Can Make Us Part" symbolize a message of a powerful love that withstands any mortal challenges and only gets better. "Sweet Dreams" by Beyonce is great for either those who enjoy Beyonce's music and/or tracks containing musical hybrids of hip hop and dance.Mike Candy Anubis Amazon Review

Unintentionally Came Across on YouTube
By
Stella Carrier
on November 20, 2015Format: MP3 MusicI admit that I actually accidently came across this musical gem of the tune Anubis by Mike Candy when I was trying to click on another link while online and my computer mouse unexpectedly clicked on the YouTube link to this song (I had previously known of Mike Candy’s music from 2012 music collection titled Smile especially with the song One Night In Ibiza feat. Evelyn & Patrick Miller yet I Admit that I did not previously know About Anubis). Anyhow, Anubis has some strong music elements of house and electronic music throughout the song-more of a tune with minimal vocals in a similar superb vein As Wizard by Martin Garrix. There is also a fun music video of Anubis by Mike Candy online that shows three museum patrons dancing with what looks like the Egyptian/Greek mythology god Anubis.

Set In Darkness
Chapter: 46 Author name: ShannaraIsles Rating: M Warnings: Language! Summary: She’s a Modern Girl in Thedas, but it isn’t what she wanted. There’s a scary dose of reality as soon as she arrives. It isn’t her story. People get hurt here; people die here, and there’s no option to reload if you make a bad decision. So what’s stopping her from plunging head first into the Void at the drop of a hat?
Never A Moment
She had to tell Cullen.
What a fun conversation that would be. How do you tell a devout workaholic with past trauma issues operating under too much stress and an honorable streak a mile wide that you're carrying his illegitimate love child? How the hell is he going to react? She couldn't even process how she was feeling. Panic was reasonably high on the list, closely followed by shock and abject terror. This couldn't be happening. Whose bright idea was it to make her give birth in a place where epidurals and proper surgery didn't exist?
"Evy," she called to her friend, ducking out of the tent once she'd tidied away the evidence. "I need to talk to the commander about something. Are you all right to hold the fort here for a little while?"
Evy looked up from her work, a faint flicker of concern crossing her face as she took a good look at Rory. "Of course," she answered easily enough. "The nurses have everything under control - I just have to show the new healer around. Are you all right?"
Right, so I look as pale as I feel. Great. "I'm fine," Rory promised her with a weak smile. "Just a little tired, but what else is new?"
The younger woman didn't look convinced, but she knew when not to push. "Take your time," she told her friend. "It's just recovery care right now, anyway."
"Hopefully I won't be too long," Rory assured her, though she had no way of knowing that.
It wasn't as though she could knock, walk in, drop the news, and immediately skip out. If she was lucky, his response wouldn't be audible all over Skyhold or hazardous to his continued health, but whether luck was with her or not, this wasn't a quick conversation in the making. Should she even take this to him now? He was swamped with work; this was just another headache to drop on him, and it wasn't even a headache he had any power to influence. It was a fact. And while there was a way to make it go away ... Rory didn't want to do that. She couldn't imagine Cullen pushing for her to do it, either. So that was that. She was a mum, for better or for worse. Holy crap, I am so screwed. A world of what ifs were open ahead of her, too many to make coherent sense. The panic was simmering - it, at least, was going to be with her in some capacity for the next, oh ... twenty years or so.
The nearest gatehouse tower was still closed off while workers toiled to make it safe. She could have passed under the stone arch and used the steps up to the battlement there - it was the fastest route to Cullen's office. Her feet, however, took her up the stone steps to the upper courtyard. It seemed as though her panic was enough to make her delay this inevitable conversation, even if it was only for a few more minutes. Her mind was racing. Now she thought about it, how could she have missed the symptoms? She was more tired than usual; her toilet breaks more regular; her sense of smell more acute; she did ache in some very specific places. She hadn't had any morning sickness, but then, some women didn't, did they?
So how long do I have, she wondered, lost in thought as she climbed the steps to the main hall. The only mistake had been that night, and that was ... Rory frowned, counting the weeks in her head. Seven or eight, so two months ago, give or take. Seven months to learn as much about midwifery and babies as she could. That really wasn't long enough.
"Looking very serious, Cupcake," a familiar voice drawled nearby.
She blinked, finding herself by the hearth in the hall, with Varric eyeing her from his table. "Hmm?"
"Serious," the dwarf repeated, laying down his quill. "You, looking very. Problems?"
"When aren't there problems?" she asked evasively, chuckling a little in spite of her turmoil. "No, I'm just thinking. Sometimes it hurts."
"Last thing we need is you and Curly with headaches," Varric commented mildly. "Just him is bad enough."
Great, he's having another bad day without telling me. She sighed wearily. "How bad?"
"He's just cranky," her dwarven friend assured her. "Pretty sure a visit from his girl would clear that right up."
"I'm not making any promises," she answered, feeling her anxiety ratchet up a notch. If he's already cranky, this isn't going to go well. Yay. "What are you working on?"
"Huh? Oh, this?" A very nearly evil smile crossed Varric's face. "His illustrious Inquisitorialness wants the next chapter of Swords and Shields for Cassandra."
Rory's eyes narrowed warningly at the mischief in his face. "Varric ... don't you dare muck up their relationship just to get a petty jab in at Cassandra."
"Would I do that?" he asked innocently.
"Yes. Yes, you would."
He chuckled, conceding the point. "Well, I'm not," he promised faithfully. "If only because I think you and Ruffles would hold me down and stab me with my own quill if I did."
She snorted with laughter. "You could be right."
Josephine had worked out that Kaaras liked Cassandra when he'd asked her to explain his book of Antivan poetry to him. The ambassador was a staunch defender of the drive to give the Seeker and the Inquisitor alone time in the hope that one of them would crack and just admit to being in love. She'd even expressed a certain frustration that they didn't even argue properly, unlike Cullen and ...
Rory's smile abruptly faded as she remembered why she was here in the first place.
"All right, Cupcake, what's hurting?" Varric asked, his face creased in a worried frown. "I've never seen you lose a smile that fast before."
Rory sighed, shaking her head. "It's nothing you can fix, Varric," she told him reluctantly. Wish you could. "I'll deal with it."
He eyed her for a moment with vague suspicion, but managed to suppress his natural desire to help with whatever it was. "Here if you need a splendid chest to lean on."
She smiled gratefully. "Thanks."
"Heads up, though," he added, jerking his chin toward the other end of the hall. "Ruffles incoming."
"What?"
Rory glanced over her shoulder, surprised to find Josephine bearing down on her like a woman on a mission. It was unusual to find the Antivan woman out of her office before dinner, but apparently some things required her to seek people out personally.
"Mistress Allen, I am glad to find you here," the ambassador said with a purposeful brightness to her tone that instantly made Rory suspicious. "Madame De Fer's seamstress has arrived. She would like to see both yourself and Lady Trevelyan this afternoon, to begin designing your gowns."
The healer just about managed to bite down on her groan. This was all she needed right now - dress plotting for Halamshiral. "I'll tell Evy," she promised politely. "I think her wedding gown is a little higher on the list of priorities."
"We have only two months to help you prepare for the Imperial Court," Josephine reminded her. "Though several people need that preparation as well. You will not be alone in your lessons."
"I can't promise to always have time for those lessons, Josephine," Rory countered, but the Antivan lady was already ahead of her.
"We will, of course, work around your duties," she insisted with easy aplomb. "You will need to be aware of courtly etiquette and dance, that is all."
Oh, is that all? Lovely. Knowing she couldn't get out of this, Rory decided to give in gracefully. "All right. Just let me know when."
"I will keep you informed," Josephine agreed. "but you must see the seamstress today."
"I will," Rory promised her. "I have things to do first, but I will." Things like give the commander a heart attack and then cry for a solid hour. Shouldn't interfere too much, should it?
She turned to open the door into the rotunda, unsurprised to hear Josephine focus her attention to Varric as she slipped into what was now Solas' work space. Empty, of course, with the elven apostate in the Emerald Graves with Kaaras, but still very much his space. From high above, she heard the croak and flap of the ravens in the rookery and, a little closer, another familiar voice calling down to her.
"If it isn't my favorite unicorn!"
Biting back a frustrated reply, she turned, tilting her head back to find Dorian leaning over the railing above her. "Unicorn?" she repeated incredulously. "Seriously?"
He laughed at her expression. "Perhaps not," the mage conceded with an ostentatious shrug. "Come up, I have something for you."
Can't this wait? But despite her faint annoyance, she wouldn't say no to Dorian. With a rueful smile, she altered her course, turning to take the steps up to the library. It's only a few minutes, she reasoned with herself. You've got about a month to break the news before it becomes blatantly obvious; a few minutes isn't going to make any difference.
Dorian was waiting for her at the top of the stairs. "You're looking done in again," he said, by way of hello. "Tell me, do you ever sleep a full night?"
"Occasionally," Rory heard herself say, a split second before her brain reminded her just who she was talking to.
"How marvelous," the altus teased brightly. "Who would have thought the commander had it in him?"
This time, the answer was out before she could stop it. "I think you'll find it's more often in me." There was a beat as she caught up with herself. "I did not just say that."
"Yes, darling, you did." Dorian laughed, pleased with her snarky reply. "I'm delighted for you."
Mortified and blushing, Rory rubbed her forehead. Why pick today, of all days, to revert to the blurting nug-woman with no boundaries? You've been doing so well! "You said you had something for me?" she asked in a desperate attempt to take control of the conversation.
"It isn't as exciting as what Cullen gives you," the mage warned, chuckling at her slightly outraged squeak of embarrassment. "You are utterly adorable when you're embarrassed, you know. But, as I promised, I have put together a small medical library for you."
Instantly, her embarrassment was gone. "Really?" she asked, curiosity mingling with excitement as she followed him to his little corner of the library, where he indicated a small stack of books on the table. "Thank you! I didn't think you were serious when you suggested it."
"My dear girl, when I say I will do a thing, it gets done," Dorian informed her comfortably. "You were in something of a lather about the gaps in your knowledge."
Rory tilted her head to read the spines. The Leech Book of Vald, Genitivi's Compendium of Thedosian Medicine, Plinth's Anatomical Studies, De Materia Medica, Historia Naturali ... She paused as she found a title that had nothing to do with medicine at all, clearing her throat to get his attention as she extracted Swords and Shields, Vol. III, from the pile. Dorian didn't even blink.
"It's your turn to read the dreadful thing," he pointed out, "though where you find the time to read, I have no idea."
Laughing, Rory put the book down. She actually rather enjoyed Swords and Shields - it was terrible, but entertainingly so. "I don't suppose there's anything on midwifery in this pile, is there?"
"Sadly, no," the mage told her. "Why? Is our blushing bride expecting, too?"
"No," she answered, her smile just a little wan. If only. "But I know virtually nothing about it, and now we're settled again, it's a certainty that someone's going to ... slip."
She wasn't sure she liked the way he was looking at her, but thankfully, he didn't say anything aloud. "I will keep my eyes open for you," he promised instead. "Should I have these delivered to the tower? I saw the workers manhandling a bed in there earlier, so I assume you are moving out of your charming tent at last."
"That would be lovely." She reached up to hug him gratefully, waiting until he responded before pulling back. One of these days, he was going to react instantly to her hugs, but she was patient enough to work on it slowly. "Thank you, Dorian."
"It's my pleasure to be lovely," he answered, the fingertips of his right hand brushing over the smooth curve of her flat stomach, one brow raised curiously. There could be no doubt what he was asking, though she was deeply grateful for his discretion.
She felt the determinedly calm facade she was holding in place crack just a little. "Keep it to yourself?" she whispered, the panic shining through briefly.
Dorian's mustache twitched as he smiled far more gently than she had expected. "Until he tells me, of course," he agreed without a moment's hesitation. And Cullen would tell him, she realized. The two men's friendship had blossomed far quicker than she had expected. "That does rather require you telling him."
"I'm working on it," she promised softly. "I was on my way to try, actually."
"Good." Dorian patted her hand gently. "Don't let me detain you."
Encouraged by his calm confidence, Rory headed back down the stairs, crossing the rotunda to the external door with his eyes on her back all the way. She had a feeling that deviating from her course would result in her being frog-marched directly to Cullen and possibly locked in with him until she 'fessed up. Dorian Pavus might only ever openly admit to having one friend, but he was compulsively protective of all the friends he made. Making her tell the truth through sheer bloody-mindedness was not beyond him. And, besides, he was right. Cullen needed to know. He deserved to know first.
It was breezier up here than it had been in the courtyards. Tucking her arms inside her cloak, she headed across the stone bridge, ignoring the shiver that ran down her spine at the icy gusts that rushed her, albeit gently. Pausing at the door, she knocked, wincing at the sharp, "Come!" that answered her. Sounds like he's in a wonderful mood. She pushed open the door, peering inside warily.
Cullen was standing behind his large desk, leaning on the surface as he scowled down at the papers that covered it. The two other doors to the tower stood open, allowing that healthy breeze to rush through, ruffling his weighted paperwork as it did. He looked tired and angry, and that vein in his temple was throbbing again. The elfroot potion she always made sure he had plenty of was sitting on the desk by his hand. Headache or no headache, here goes nothing.
"Are you busy?" she asked, closing the door behind her.
He raised his eyes from the desk, and his scowl melted away at the sight of her, replaced with a weary smile that made her heart ache pleasantly. "I can always make time for you," he assured her quietly.
"But not to take the potion that will deal with that headache," she pointed out. Despite the anxious knot in her stomach, her smile was fond as she moved toward him, stepping over fallen debris to do so.
"I was just about to," he told her, the guilty cast to his expression telling her the bottle had been sitting there for a good hour or more. Under her knowing gaze, he unstopped the potion and took a healthy gulp, grimacing at the taste.
"Have you taken a break at all today?" she asked then, again knowing he hadn't before he admitted to it.
"There's so much to do," he tried to say, but Rory was just as stubborn as he was. It was part of the reason he'd noticed her in the first place.
"And nothing is going to fall apart if you take ten minutes to walk the battlements with me," she informed him, her expression daring her lover to argue. "Please?"
Cullen's brows drew together in concern at the unexpected plea. "Are you all right?" he asked her, straightening to come out from behind the desk.
Just that tender concern was enough to destabilize her composure, but she managed to keep it together. "I'm worried about you," she told him. It wasn't a lie; it just wasn't the truth, either. "Ten minutes, that's all I'm asking."
He held her gaze for a long moment, clearly trying to decide if he should be worried. "Ten minutes," he agreed finally, laying a hand at the small of her back to escort her out into the sunshine.
They walked in silence along the crenelated battlements, passing the guard patrolling this section before coming to a halt to look out over the snowy vista side by side. Cullen's fingers brushed hers, a single point of contact that meant the world to her as she struggled to find the words for what she needed to say. I'm pregnant was too blunt, too unexpected. Marry me, I'm up the duff likely wouldn't go down too well. Remember that time against the tree lacked the gentle tone she thought he needed. What about ...
She squeaked as his arm wrapped about her waist, drawing her close into his side. "You're fidgeting," he murmured against her temple. "Why so nervous?"
A low sigh escaped her lips. "Because there's something I need to tell you," she confessed, tilting her head to look up at him. "And you might not be happy about it."
"I already know you're going to the Winter Palace," he told her in a disapproving tone. "Which you somehow failed to tell me yourself."
Red heat spilled guiltily across her cheeks. Is that better, or worse, she wondered. "No, it's not that."
The wrap of his arm squeezed supportively about her back. "What is it, then?"
"I, um ..."
But Fate has a funny sense of humor. Sometimes it enjoys throwing obstacles in your path. In this case, as Rory braced herself to share her news ... it threw a goat at the outer wall directly below them. She distinctly heard the bleat, and the splat, leaning forward to look down at the man who had thrown it as Cullen exclaimed in affronted surprise.
"What in the name of -" He drew back from her, already shouting to his men. "Detain that man!"
As the soldiers scrambled to catch the Avvar hooting in satisfaction on the mountainside below, he began to follow, only to turn back to her with an apologetic look in his eyes. She sighed, shaking her head with a helpless laugh.
"It'll keep," she promised, waving him away. He needed his duty to come first, at least until he could make the decision about his priorities. "Go."
With a last concerned look, Cullen moved away, quickly out of sight. Rory turned back to the view, leaning against the gray stone to watch as the Inquisition apprehended Movran the Under with no small difficulty. Typical, she thought resignedly. Goatus interruptus.

Why the Media Went Crazy for Keto Crotch
youtube
“Your Meat-Heavy Diet Might Be Giving You ‘Keto Crotch,’” an article1 on munchies.vice.com announces, claiming “Doctors have confirmed that changing your diet can create new and interesting smells
down there.” “'Keto Crotch’ Might Be the Strongest Argument for Eating Carbs Yet,” Emily Alford reports on Jezebel.com.2
“'Keto Crotch Is the Seriously Smelly Side Effect of the Popular Diet,” the New York Post declares,3 and then goes on to confuse diabetic ketoacidosis — which causes bad breath — with nutritional ketosis achieved through a ketogenic diet. (The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other, as explained in my interview with Dorian Greenow and on ketogenic-diet-resource.com.4)
Countless other mainstream and not-so-mainstream news sources suddenly carry similar headlines, warning people that going keto can cause stinky discharges that will render you a social outcast — and that eating high-sugar foods like fruit juices and whole grains is the answer to these offensive odors.
Remarkably, an online search for the term “keto crotch” on the day of this writing produces an astounding 2,060,000 results. The question is, where’s the proof to support this nonsense?
The Rise of 'Keto Crotch’
From what I can tell, the term “keto crotch” initially appeared on a reddit discussion board back in 2014,5 and again in 2016,6 and many of the articles now discussing this issue appear to be referring back to these brief anecdotes.
Since then, and up until February 24, 2019 — when Delish.com published Korin Miller’s article,7 “'Keto Crotch’ Might Be a Surprising Side Effect of a Low-Carb Diet,” republished that same day on Yahoo Finance with the more eye-catching headline, “'Keto Crotch’ Is the Most WTF Side Effect of Going on the Diet”8 — the term “keto crotch” was virtually nonexistent as far as I can tell, after digging through about a dozen search pages.
Miller, who appears to be one of the first journalists to use the catchphrase “keto crotch,” is a freelance journalist whose work has appeared in a number of health and women’s magazines.
She’s also an SEO consultant and founder of the SEO company keepUP Marketing9 that helps websites optimize their search results, and is the managing editor of the StyleCaster Media Group,10,11 a “leading digital media and technology platform for fashion, beauty and lifestyle.”12 With these qualifications, it would seem reasonable to assume she has the know-how to make a story go viral. The reason why is a question that has yet to be answered.
The story started spreading the very next day, and by February 28, keto crotch articles were “everywhere.” Yet not a single scientific study is brought forth in these articles, and a search of the medical literature turns up nothing. In fact, Miller’s February 24 article specifies there’s no medical evidence linking nutritional ketosis to foul-smelling private parts.
Who Are Some of the Health Experts Commenting on 'Keto Crotch’?
Articles do, however, cite several health care providers, among them registered dietitian and nutritionist Lisa DeFazio13 — whose commentary appeared in multiple news stories within 48 hours14 — gynecologist Dr. Lauren Streicher and dietitian Andrea Hardy.15
DeFazio offered a link to a 2009 study16 in the Journal of Nutrition when questioned by a Twitter follower about the basis for her concerns, which found bacterial vaginosis was most prevalent among women who had the highest dietary fat intakes.
Streicher’s comments, on the other hand, have been far more neutral, noting that dietary changes will temporarily alter the pH in the vaginal area in general, and that there’s no medical evidence linking the ketogenic diet with infections or other odor-causing vaginal ailments. Huffington Post writes:17
“'When I got the first call asking about this, I asked if they were making this up to write a story,' Lauren Streicher, medical director of the Northwestern Medicine Center for Sexual Medicine and Menopause and clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, told HuffPost with a laugh.
Streicher said that while it’s certainly possible that diet can have an impact on vaginal health, there is no scientific evidence to prove it, and myriad of potential causes for odor to exist.”
The problem with the study18 cited by DeFazio is that the women also had high carb intakes, and carbs are primary drivers of infection and yeast. According to the authors of the study:
“[T]he mean [energy intake] exceeded the recommended daily allowance for adult women. Also, the energy, fat, and carbohydrate intakes of the women were considerably higher than those reported in NHANES (1999–2000) for women of comparable age.”
In other words, it appears these women were eating a standard American diet high in both fats and carbs, so the results cannot be attributed to a high-fat, low-carb diet such as the ketogenic diet. Not surprisingly, DeFazio recommends eating carbs to lose weight and keep it off, saying “low carb diets don’t work long term.”19
DeFazio also welcomes media inquiries, stating she’s “available for all magazine, newspaper, radio, television and website interviews,” and “will accommodate you ASAP, even on short notice.”20 She’s also a talent with Taylor Talent Services,21 which specializes in “Helping brands, producers and marketers find the face of their products.”22
Ketogenic Experts Have Never Heard of 'Keto Crotch’
Ketogenic experts, on the other hand, myself included, have never heard of this complaint before now. In the video above, Dr. Ken Berry,23 a self-proclaimed “keto friendly” medical doctor, shares his views on the topic.
As noted by Berry, carbs are in fact the primary driver of yeast infections, vaginosis, bladder infections and similar ailments, and women who struggle with these conditions who switch to a low-carb diet universally improve. “There’s nothing about the ketogenic diet that’s going to make you have vaginitis or vaginosis,” he says. “It just makes no sense whatsoever.”
Kristie Sullivan, Ph.D.,24 who has been on a ketogenic diet since 2013, and has spent years coaching people on the ketogenic diet, shared similar views:25
“In nearly six years of following a strict low-carb diet, and interacting with literally hundreds of thousands via social media and my Facebook groups (over 250,000 people
), I have interacted in nearly every discussion imaginable regarding personal health and low carb or keto.
Not once has the issue of foul vaginal odor been part of that conversation. Bad breath or changes in body odor are not uncommon concerns, but those tend to be experienced early in the adaptation phase and are not long term or ongoing issues.”
Another ketogenic expert, Megan Ramos, CEO of Intensive Dietary Management in Toronto, Canada, said in an interview:26
“We’ve treated over 10,000 patients at this point. Approximately 65 percent of them are females. Not once did I have a woman bring up this issue with me.
As a matter of fact, we’re seeing the opposite: women have less and less yeast infections and bladder infections, in particular our diabetic patients who normalize their blood sugars, and who stop taking their SGLT2 inhibitors (which is a drug that makes people pee out sugar).”
Where Did Keto Crotch Story Come From?
Considering the complete lack of scientific evidence to support claims that nutritional ketosis can cause vaginal infections, one has to wonder where this story originated from. After all, some arbitrary anecdote simply won’t spread like wildfire for no reason, being picked up by major media simultaneously. Yet here are dozens of near-identical stories being featured in different magazines and news outlets on the same day.
Two individuals have stepped forward with an answer. In the video above, Berry explains how, when browsing through several women’s magazines in a bookstore that carried the keto crotch story, he noted a curious pattern. Each of them had full-page ads for Weight Watchers, whose stock prices, incidentally, have plummeted by 80 percent since July 2018 — a drop attributed by Weight Watchers to the mass adoption of the ketogenic diet.27 In his video commentary, Berry says:
“Rest assured
we see less and less things that could give you changes in odorous discharge when you eat keto. You don’t get more of that, you get much, much less

So, I think keto crotch is just the latest myth [pushed by] the big publishing houses who get a lot of their ad dollars from Weight Watchers and Biggest Loser and Jenny Craig. They would love for you to stop eating keto

[I]f they can scare you with the latest scare tactic, which is 'keto crotch,’ then they’re successful and they’re going to get more ad dollars from the big, carbohydrate pushing weight loss programs.”
John Zahorik, a self-described “nutrition explorer,”28 has taken his investigation a step further. In a series of Twitter posts (this thread reader29 offers the easiest to read view), Zahorik shows the links between Weight Watchers, its PR company Edelman,30 some of the primary health experts interviewed about keto crotch, as well as some of the authors of these nonsense articles, Shireen Khalil31 among them.
'Keto Crotch’ — A Secret Weight Watcher’s PR Stunt?
September, 2018, PR Week announced “Weight Watchers turns to Edelman to handle global consumer PR.”32 According to PR Week, “Weight Watchers wants to strengthen its reputation, better define and grow 'the Weight Watchers impact,’ and increase revenue to more than $2 billion by the end of 2020
” Other clients of Edelman include pasta giant Barilla,33 and The Coca-Cola Company.34
According to screenshots taken by Zahorik, Khalil, Streicher and DeFazio are all Edelman PR followers on Twitter.35 While that certainly doesn’t prove they’re working together, it suggests collaboration is a possibility. He also reminds people about the reality that is “native advertising” — marketing designed to look like news.36 As reported by Conently.com in 2015:37
“Native advertising — articles paid for and/or written by a brand that live on a publisher’s site — has emerged as a powerful and popular new advertising tool over the past few years.
Media companies like BuzzFeed, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Atlantic have all invested heavily in the creation and distribution of native advertisements on behalf of brands, with many charging over $100,000 for a native advertising campaign.”
Indeed, PR companies not only create recognizable ads and native advertising (ads not recognized as such), they also do news placement on behalf of their clients. In many cases, such news stories will feature actual science that happens to benefit the client’s position.
In this case, however, the “news” is anything but. It’s pure fabrication, and appears to be aimed at implanting a highly memorable mnemonic device38 into the public consciousness. After seeing the term “keto crotch” hundreds of times, you’d be hard-pressed to not instantaneously think of a stinky crotch every time you hear “ketogenic diet.”
Already, people have made comments on social media saying the mere possibility of this malodorous condition has dissuaded them from going keto, and there’s little doubt this is the exact aim of this fake news campaign.
Zahorik points out the Edelman firm is in fact a master at creating these kinds of viral campaigns, a key part of which is “Leveraging top-tier influencers to integrate a brand’s key messaging directly into the content target audiences are consuming” (per tweet from Edelman39).
“The thing that made this campaign different from typical 'branding’ efforts is that this was a SECRET effort to DESTROY the brand of the COMPETITION,” Zahorik writes.40“What was the source of this alliterative affliction in these 'articles’? Answer: People on the internet were talking!”
Big Business Is Clearly Afraid of Keto Success
While the evidence implicating Edelman and Weight Watchers in the creation of this “keto crotch” myth is still circumstantial, the timing sure seems suspiciously convenient. The very same day the keto crotch myth exploded on the internet (February 28), CNN Business reported on Weight Watchers’ financial demise, stating:41
"CEO Mindy Grossman attributed the problem to the keto diet, a popular eating regimen that makes bread and other carbs taboo. She said during a call with analysts
that keto is 'becoming a cultural meme’ and she even called it a 'keto surge.’“
Let’s face it, the media is owned by industry, and leveraging of social media influencers can make fake news and unsubstantiated claims like this spread like wildfire. While there’s no evidence to support this obnoxious story, there’s an incredible amount of published literature showing the health benefits of a ketogenic diet.
For example, ketones have a biological impact similar to that of fasting,42 including accelerated autophagy and mitophagy, improved glucose metabolism, reduced inflammation, clearing out malfunctioning immune cells,43 and reduced IGF-1 (one of the factors that regulate growth pathways and growth genes and is a major player in accelerated aging and cellular/intracellular regeneration and rejuvenation).
Ketogenic Diet Basics
I strongly believe adopting a cyclical ketogenic diet — which means after you have achieved metabolic flexibility, you cycle in and out of eating foods high in healthy fats, with moderate protein and low net carbs (think nonfiber carbs) — can benefit most people. It’s very effective for weight loss, and as discussed earlier, works with your body in such a way as to improve regeneration and renewal.
Maintaining net carb (total carbs minus fiber) intake at or below 50 grams allows you to enter into nutritional ketosis (the metabolic state associated with an increased production of ketones in your liver, which is the biological reflection of being able to burn fat). However, we are all different in how we respond to foods, so expect this amount to vary from person to person.
Some people can be in a full fat-burning state with full ketosis at a level of nonfiber carbs that’s higher than 50 grams, sometimes even as high as 70 or 80 grams. However, if you’re insulin resistant or have Type 2 diabetes, you may need to limit your net carbs to as little as 20 or 30 grams per day.
To find your personal carb target, it’s important to measure not just your blood glucose but also your ketones. One of the most accurate and least expensive ketone measuring devices on the market right now is Keto Mojo. This will give you an objective measure of whether or not you’re truly in ketosis, rather than just relying on counting the grams of carbohydrates you consume.
Using a nutrient tracker will radically improve your ability to understand your ketogenic diet nutrient targets and assess the nutrient value of your food choices. There are a number of trackers available, but my first choice is Cronometer.com/Mercola. That’s my revision of the basic Cronometer tracker, and it’s already set to default to macronutrient levels that will support nutritional ketosis.
Once you’ve confirmed that you’re in ketosis, start the cycling procedure described earlier, where you add in higher net carbs and protein once or twice a week, ideally on days you’re strength training. Intermittent fasting works very well with a ketogenic diet as well, and can further speed up and optimize your results. You can learn more about the benefits of a ketogenic diet from my books, ”Fat for Fuel,“ and ”Ketofast.“

newfragile yellows [49]
“The next time you get my wife pregnant you’re going to have to deal with the craving runs,” Bull says.
Dorian is avidly aware of the spectacle they must make.
Lavellan - obviously months into pregnancy and staring at the menu board for the cafe -, Bull - huge, one eyed, scarred with horns - standing behind her, and Dorian rounding out their delicate trio - a known Tevinter politician.
“Joke’s on you, there is no next time,” Dorian says.
Lavellan turns away from the chalk board of drinks to give him a wounded look, hand over her round belly, “But what if baby wants a sibling?”
“Baby has the Chargers,” Dorian pulls at her arm, “I already ordered for you and Bull. They’re only mostly lukewarm because you’re both late.”
“Bull wouldn’t wake up,” Lavellan says, pulling her arm from his. “And I don’t want my usual. I want to try something new.”
Dorian and Bull exchange a glance over her head.
Lavellan’s usual is enough to make you cringe, they can’t help but think maybe now isn’t the best time for her to be experimenting food-wise.
“Maybe after you get your stomach settled,” Bull says, gently pushing her shoulder in the direction Dorian was pulling her earlier. “And don’t give me that look, I was driving all over the place looking for a very specific type of ice cream texture and flavor last night and early this morning.”
“I felt like I was dying,” Lavellan says, “Like - like if it wasn’t in my mouth within the next few moments I would expire on the spot.”
They help her ease into the chair and Lavellan pulls out a thick tome from her bag, “Anyway, baby names.”
“We’re going to do baby names? Right here?” Dorian blinks as Bull gets to work dividing Lavellan’s sandwich into parts she will eat and parts she’ll ask Bull to eat for her later.
“What’s wrong with here?” Bull asks, delicately peeling tomato skin off of a tomato in a very practiced and efficient flick of his fork. Lavellan wordlessly plucks the skin from him and pops it into her mouth, slurping it up like a noodle.
“It’s in the middle of a cafe,” Dorian says.
“Dorian, the entire world knows I’m pregnant with your child,” Lavellan rolls her eyes, “It’s not like anything about this pregnancy is a secret. Dorian, there’s paparazzi right behind you.”
Dorian turns around and there is, indeed, a small crowd of paparazzi in the window closest to them. Dorian did not pick a window seat, but their corner is slightly visible through a window at a certain angle.
“This is worse than when I came out as gay to the public,” Dorian says.
-
“Now hold on, how come baby gets two god mothers and no god father?” Dorian asks.
“Yeah,” Bull says, “Isn’t that kind of not how its supposed to go?”
Lavellan gives them boy a flat stare, “Name one competent man the three of us know and trust with our baby. Name one.”
Bull and Dorian glance at each other and then groan.
“That’s right, not a single competent man to be found among them,” Lavellan says.
“Krem?”
“Has the Chargers.”
“Rylen?”
“Under Cullen who’s attached to Evelyn who is already Baby’s god mother.”
“Kaaras?”
“Herrah’s brother and she’s already Baby’s other god mother. Plus, Herrah is married to Josephine and who’s more perfect for raising a baby than Josephine? Anyway - back to the original topic at hand. Where the hell am I giving birth to Baby?” Lavellan looks down at the just barely there bump. “Baby! Where should you be born? Tell me!”
“Well, the entire point of this is for Dorian to tell his parents to shove it up their ass, so Tevinter seems logical,” Bull says.
“But assassination is something we definitely have to worry about,” Dorian says, resting his head on Lavellan’s shoulder as she lightly pats her stomach with her hands, demanding the baby make some sort of proclamation for where it would like to enter the world. “But getting a passport and citizenship for Tevinter is a pain. Especially if you’re half elf.”
“Maybe we should make baby Orlesian,” Lavellan muses, “Orlesians hand out citizenships like pamphlets. All I had to do was give my name and they approved mine.”
“Love, that’s for an entirely different reason,” Dorian pets her knee fondly.
“Yeah, I’m still waiting on mine and I’ve been working in Orlais for way longer than you,” Bull says.
Both of them turn to look at Bull, “You don’t have citizenship yet?”
Bull gives them both an amused look, “What, you thought I did?”
“You were stripped of citizenship under the Qun,” Lavellan gapes, “What are you?”
“Ferelden,” Bull shrugs.
“Dogs!” Lavellan whispers. Dorian can just imagine the hearts in her eyes. She turns to Dorian, beaming, “I’m married to a dog lord.”
Dorian groans, “Baby is going to be one third dog lord.”
“Maybe give birth at Skyhold, technically it’s like - no country. It’s it’s own country,” Bull says.
“Baby will not be born at Skyhold,” Lavellan hits the back of her hand against Bull’s stomach. “Baby is going to be born in a normal person hospital.”
“Why?”
“Because,” Lavellan drags out the word, “Skyhold is in the mountains and you’re going to ask a nine months pregnant me to go up a mountain to a military fortress to give birth? I don’t think so. That seems like a good idea now but trust me, in about seven months you will hate it.”
-
“I think Dorian and Kaaras are going to start dating,” Evelyn says as soon as she manages to get herself seated next to Lavellan.
“You don’t think it’ll be twins again, do you?” Lavellan asks, staring at Evelyn’s incredibly large baby - well. It’s not quite a bump anymore.
“With my luck?” Evelyn snorts, “Triplets.”
“And you two worried about Cullen’s health problems,” Lavellan muses. “Anyway, what about Dorian and Kaaras?”
“Have you seen the two together recently?” Evelyn asks.
“She’s right,” Josephine and Leliana both chime in. Lavellan looks up at Josephine offers her another pillow to put behind her back. Leliana is farther off in the house making a late lunch. “I ran into them the other day with Herah and they were adorable.”
“Just because people look adorable together doesn’t mean they are together,” Dagna says from where she’s putting together a baby bouncer for Evelyn. “I mean, look at Maxwell and Cassandra.”
“Ah, but that’s my cousin and he’s a train wreck made of puppies,” Evelyn replies. “This is different. This is Dorian. And Kaaras.”
Lavellan drums her fingers on her stomach, “I’m going to need more proof that Dorian is dating the brother of Baby’s god-mother.”
“Not dating, yet,” Leliana calls out, “Ladies, remind me - which one of you can’t stand the taste of tomatoes right now?”
“Me,” Evelyn raises a hand.
“No crusts,” Lavellan raises her hand, “No glory.”
“We were actually looking for baby clothes,” Josephine says, sitting on the sofa next to Lavellan, tucking her legs up underneath her, “For your shower - and no, I am not going to tell either of you what we got, so don’t give me that look.”
“Boo,” Lavellan frowns.
“Not important, tell her more,” Evelyn says, leaning her shoulder against Lavellan’s before returning to attempting to figure out which pillow will give her the best back support.
“And we saw Dorian and Kaaras in the store picking out baby clothes also,” Josephine says, “As an aside - I thought you were going to keep the baby gender a secret?”
“We are,” Lavellan says, “But we want to get both based covered and who’s to say a boy baby can’t wear pink and a girl baby can’t wear blue? Go on please.”
“It’s just - the way they talked and looked at each other and laughed,” Josephine says. “Herah said she hadn’t seen Kaaras look that relaxed with someone in a long time.”
“Well, we’ve all been friends for years,” Lavellan points out, “That would help.”
“And sometimes it takes years to figure out what’s good for you,” Evelyn says, voice soft. “Sometimes, it takes years for you to become someone who knows they can do better.”

The Worst Political Predictions of 2019
New Post has been published on https://thebiafrastar.com/the-worst-political-predictions-of-2019/
The Worst Political Predictions of 2019
How wide was the gulf between what actually happened in 2019 and the paths imagined by our pundits and politicians? Drawing from scores of op-eds, tweets, news stories and other first drafts of not-yet-history, here’s POLITICO Magazine’s sixth annual Worst Predictions list.
17. “By the end of 2019, the president of the United States will be Nancy Pelosi”
Predicted by: Stephen Kinzer,Boston Globe
Even as Pelosi flexed her power this year—deftly navigating impeachment with limited public blowback against Democrats (at least so far)—she remains third in line for the Oval Office, no closer to becoming president than she was at the start of 2019.
16. “The Syria withdrawal probably won’t happen in anything more than a cosmetic sense”
Predicted by: Damir Marusic,The American Interest
The U.S. withdrawal from Syria in 2019—allowing Turkey to decimate the Kurdish population and Russia to make major advances in the country, including taking over American military installations—marked a more than cosmetic change in Middle East policy.
15. Trump will “resign from office before he can be impeached, citing health reasons”
Predicted by: Jon Cooper
Cooper, a Democratic fundraiser and prominent #resistance Twitter personality, is prone to outlandish statements that rack up retweets from his fellow partisans. A particular subgenre of this type of tweet is calling for the resignation of Republican officeholders (retweet if you agree!) and then predicting that they will resign. With Trump, Cooper has done both, repeatedly calling for his resignation and predicting that the resignation is coming soon.
14. “Beto O’Rourke will be the next president of the United States”
Predicted by: Lee Drutman (several times) and a great many others
For a time in late 2018 and early 2019, it plausibly looked like Beto O’Rourke was the future of the Democratic Party. CNN’s S.E. Cupp, James Gagliano, Joey Jackson, Scott Jennings, Roxanne Jones, Peniel Joseph, Jen Psaki and Alice Sewart each predicted that he would be leading the polls of Democratic presidential candidates at the end of this year. Less than eight months later, O’Rourke dropped out of the presidential race altogether.
13. Joe Biden won’t run for president
Predicted by: Ari Fleischer
Biden entered the Democratic primary in April, and he has consistently led national polls since.
12. House Democrats and Senate Republicans will “secure a number of legislative victories
 [and] meet on middle ground”
Predicted by: Orrin Hatch
At the start of 2019, with a new Democratic majority in the House and the Republicans firmly in control of the Senate, retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch saw the possibility of bipartisan compromise on the horizon. The actual story of Congress this year was not one of meeting “on middle ground,” but of party-line triumphs—House Democrats impeaching Trump, and Senate Republicans installing ever more conservatives into the federal judiciary. It’s become so routine for legislation that passed in the House to get held up in the Senate that Pelosi herself has dubbed McConnell’s chamber “the graveyard.” Bipartisan successes? There were very few.
11. Mueller will “exonerate Trump,” “implicate the Deep State” and “forever legitimize his presidency”
Predicted by: Bill Mitchell (here, too)
Not only did special counsel Robert Mueller not exonerate Trump, he said, “If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.”
10. Kamala Harris will win the Democratic presidential nomination
Predicted by: Myra Adams
This wasn’t implausible when it was predicted in January, during Harris’ highly regarded presidential campaign rollout, but the California senator didn’t even make it to the end of 2019 as a candidate, dropping out of the race on Dec. 3.
9. “Buttigieg will drop [in the polls] soon, and many of his supporters will migrate to Warren”
Predicted by: Noah Smith, June 25, 2019
Leading the fourth-largest city in Indiana hasn’t historically been a launching pad for the Oval Office, but in late December, Pete Buttigieg remains at or near the top of the Democratic pack in Iowa and New Hampshire.
8. Trump will nominate Jared Kushner for attorney general
Predicted by: Carl P. Leubsdorf,Dallas Morning News, Dec. 27, 2018
When Trump went about finding a successor for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, he could have chosen Kushner, a graduate of NYU Law whose legal experience largely consists of two internships. Instead, Trump chose former Attorney General Bill Barr.
7. House Democrats will not impeach Trump
Predicted by (among others): Peter Daou, Kai Ryssdal and Stephen L. Carter
They did.
6. House Dems and the Senate GOP will work together to enact immigration reform
Predicted by: Fortune Magazine
In its annual “Crystal Ball” forecast for the year ahead,Fortuneimagined Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi working together to pass a “farm bill, immigration reform, and an infrastructure bill that President Trump has long wanted to see on his desk.” Immigration reform shows no signs of life, and major investments in infrastructure—despite the ostensible support of both Trump and House Democrats—remain unrealized.
5. Mueller will reveal that Trump’s 2016 campaign received millions of dollars from Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar
Predicted by: Former Rep. John Leboutillier
Leboutillier, a former Republican congressman from New York, began 2019 with an op-ed in theHillthat audaciously predicted, “The Mueller investigation will unveil evidence of Trump putting himself out to the highest bidder in return for campaign help and financing: Russians, Saudis, Emiratis, Qataris—there will be evidence that millions of foreign dollars illegally flowed into the Trump campaign coffers in 2016.” There was no such evidence, Mueller unveiled no such thing, and there is no factual basis upon which to claim that “millions of foreign dollars illegally flowed into the Trump campaign.”
4. In 2019, there will be a “move toward forcing African-Americans to secure 19th century Black Codes-type passes that they must carry in public”
Predicted by: Dr. Ricky L. Jones
It was an alarming, eye-popping prediction from Jones, a professor at the University of Louisville and a contributor to theCourier Journal: “We will see a move toward forcing African-Americans to secure 19th century Black Codes-type passes that they must carry in public. Any white person would be able to demand the blacks in question produce these IDs to prove they have the right to inhabit certain spaces or engage in pre-approved activities in 2019.” Nothing even hazily resembling the prediction has been entertained.
3. British Prime Minister Theresa May “will see out Brexit and then depart on her own terms and timing”
Predicted by: Nick Williams
May announced that she would resign as prime minister in May, after the Brexit plans she negotiated were defeated in Parliament for the third time in as many months. The House of Commons rejected her Brexit plan for a fourth time two days later. She officially stepped down as prime minister in July and was succeeded by Boris Johnson. In December, Johnson won a large parliamentary majority, and, as of this writing, it appears likely that Brexit will finally happen in January 2020, almost four years after British voters first approved the idea.
2. Republicans will break ranks with an increasingly erratic Trump
Predicted by: Patti Solis Doyle
At the end of 2018, Solis Doyle, who managed Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, predicted that “Republicans, who have supported the mayhem and chaos up to now, will be looking down the barrel of a 2020 presidential cycle with abysmal numbers with women, suburban voters and independents. They’re going to break.”
Not a single House Republican supported either of the two articles of impeachment that passed the House in December, and Congressman Justin Amash was drummed out of the Republican Party for suggesting that Trump should be impeached over Mueller’s findings (now an independent, he voted for both articles of impeachment).
1. Alabama will be hit by Hurricane Dorian, never mind what the National Weather Service says
Predicted by: President Donald Trump
In the annals of post-Watergate presidential “scandals,” the “Sharpiegate” brouhaha is among the most bizarre. In advance of the storm making landfall, Trump tweeted that “In addition to Florida – South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated.” There were never any reputable weather maps that had Alabama in the direct path of the storm, and the National Weather Service in Birmingham quickly issued a statement correcting the president.
Rather than admit a mistake, Trump produced a map of the hurricane’s path—and apparently used a marker to draw over the expert forecast and change the path of Dorian’s projected fallout area to include Alabama. The hurricane never did hit the state.

24.2.17 - mind body soul
I haven’t written anything in a while and there are a few reasons for that. First being that there has been so much inside my head I couldn’t find the words to say, I have been on the dangerous edge of getting lost within the ocean of thoughts swilling around in there and also finding the ones that make the most sense. Second of all, it has been pretty full on with receiving treatment from Tomer, Jonathan and other various places. And lastly I’ve been away in Cornwall, which is a pretty good reason right?!
So where to start, well I’ve got my insoles now and let me tell you how truly remarkable they are! I can’t believe something so mundane can make such a difference to the body. As soon as I put them in, it’s as if all the nuts and bolts have been tightened up, I don’t feel like such a rickety puppet on strings. This week it has been a month since I got them and I had my first follow up appointment with Jonathan and he is very pleased with my progress, my muscles seem to be remembering where they should be even when I don’t have my insoles in, plus I am standing a lot taller, much to the disdain of my Mum. Who knows where the long limbs have come from as I seem to tower over everyone in my family and I look too much like my Dad to blame the postman.
I have been seeing Tomer every week now, slowly but surely I seem to be responding well to treatment. Each time building up the manipulation of soft tissue and nerve endings, to get them alive and kicking once again. We have to tread carefully as everything is a bit sensitive and can react quite aggressively if provoked a bit too much. I’m not just relying on once a week sessions to get me through, it takes two to tango after all, so every day I am working on getting to know my body and finally being able to help myself in a way that actually has results! Now that my body seems to be getting itself out of limbo, I can start strengthening my muscles in the right position. I haven’t been to pilates for a while as I think it might have been doing more harm than good, but this week I got back in the pool. I am a water baby, a child of the tides, so I feel a natural affinity to the water, the perfect place for my body to strengthen and heal. I will be slowly building this up, I have no idea how long it will take for me to get where I need to be, but so far so good. The biggest battle at the moment is feeling weak and fatigued, I definitely have a lot more energy than I did a few months ago but sometimes it likes to trip me up. I think that is partly my own fault, that old habit of doing too much when I feel good. But I’ve been doing a lot better, I think partly because I’ve been allowing myself to just rest, heal and not worry so much about the unimportant things.
So that’s the body dealt with and now for the mind. Up until recently I have felt that my imagination has been a prisoner of war, trapped by all the fog and pain. It feels like the fog is slowly lifting and my creativity is beginning to seep out, making its escape. It’s funny how life works out, you are adamant it’s going one way then it takes a sharp left. I feel a bit like I’ve been swimming until I can’t see land, floating adrift in the middle of nowhere. But I think that is probably normal for any 25 year old, I think we all just pretend we’ve got it all together. A constant battle trying to prove that we exist, but is it the honest truth or a well constructed lie? A friend of mine who suffers similarly with pain, has also brought this to light. She went on to describe her fear that social media has bred a collective dishonesty, that in turn perpetuates our anxiety. A platform intended for communication and connection has turned into a dangerous method of attack and self-degradation. Everyone has their own battles to fight, even if their virtual self is living the idyllic life. Who wants to see me crippled in pain or with bags under my eyes so big I could carry the shopping home? I fear it will make me less desirable if my weaknesses are realised. We are not alone in feeling these frustrations, and we are not the first to voice them. But when life suddenly slams on the brakes, you are forced to see everyone else speeding past you. Social media will evolve, it could get better or worse, it will always be a blessing and a curse. I guess it is up to us to experience it more positively or don’t use it at all. What happened to the glory days of myspace, pc4pc anyone? Ultimately it doesn’t really matter what anyone else is doing, you need to do whatever is right for you.
Think for yourself, be yourself, to stay true to yourself.
So over the past 5 or 6 months I have made the conscious decision to take time out to focus on healing my body, this might sound wonderful, I mean don’t get me wrong it’s great not having to do very much. But at the same time it drives me up the wall; boredom, frustration, loneliness, envy, guilt and the thought that life is passing me by. However, I have realised that this is what I needed, and it has been a golden opportunity that not many people get the chance to receive. I have been able to rest and rehabilitate, and experience some self-discovery, which in actual fact is hugely important. I haven’t been doing nothing, I’ve had the chance to really think about life and what I want from it. Furthermore I have been given the time to be creative again, re-awaken my imagination and focus all the negativity into something positive.
I have also realised a lot of aspects about myself, some I liked and some not so much. It’s frightening when you are confronted with yourself, a self that has been battered and left feeling pretty vulnerable and raw. I always felt I was a confident person, but I’ve had the wind knocked out of my sails and feel that my self-confidence has been a casualty of that. Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning, overwhelmed with my inabilities, new found insecurities and anxiety. A feeling I haven’t really experienced before. I suppose it’s a bit like having your skin peeled off and then your raw flesh bared to the elements. Even though I have been to hell and back, I am thankful that it has happened to me, especially when I have the benefits of time and youth on my side. Pain can be a fantastic catalyst for change. I firmly believe that the Universe gives you signs to follow, but it is up to you to listen to them.
I’m tired and I’ve been tired for a long time, too young to feel that tired and I don’t have the energy for bullshit anymore. I am coming to realise what future I want, what I need to do to get there and the kinds of people I want in it. I crave a slower life, a life where quality is appreciated more than quantity. Peace and pleasure in living. Having adventures, grand or small, laughter, fun and doing whatever the hell you want. I’m not the only that shares this dream, but it terrifies me to think of staying here and following the formula. I see my friends getting married, buying houses, planning parenthood and I feel my palms start to sweat. I am happy for them and I know that it’s life, we were put here to pro-create after all, but I still feel 17 and want to experience and see everything before my eyes close forever. I feel like I’ve been given a second chance in a way, a future of possibilities has opened up again, I’m chomping at the bit, I am impatient to press play, I want to find the eternity in each and every moment.
Dorian Paskowitz once said, “health is more than mere absence of disease, it’s the presence of a superior state of well being, a pizzazz, a vitality that has to be worked for each and every day of your life. It’s got to be gotten through diet and exercise and rest and recreation and attitudes of mind working all together every day of your life.” So I am taking the time to heal my body and my mind, strengthening them so they can withstand the waves of life, and the ocean itself, because my first goal is to get up on a surfboard. I know that as my body strengthens, my confidence will flourish again and I won’t feel so inept anymore. I need to be whole again, especially if I want to succeed in my goals, be present in life, forge relationships and be with someone heart, body and soul. I’ve got a few plans in the making, I am determined and I’ll get there soon, just bear with me.

Adrienne was actually perusing a an online link involving top colleges for aspiring writers when she got the news of her large check for her book writing.
During this time, they have had the chance to see the various sights of Europe and England during just the one week. Meanwhile, at the same concert, One Republic enjoyed a positive reception when they opened with the songs Counting Stars, Love Runs Out, and Good Life.
Adrienne and Angus go back to their room and decide on their next strategy.
There are adults (seemingly with benevolent intentions) dressed in gold and pink robes standing by ready to hand them aqua blue robes as they step out of the pool.
Adrienne looks at herself and noticed that she is dressed in a purple and peach robe for whatever reason. Adrienne then wonders what is the purpose of her both being there and what she is to do next when a male spirit with a white porcelain mask and a bright silver robe comes up to her.
Without hesitation, the male spirit tells her to just call him Dorian.
The fifth key involves the words follow your passion when choosing where to live long-term, and then great power with intent.
Dorian then explains to Adrienne, there is only a limited time for communication. This is because more people are going to be more careful with their money to the point that more money goes back both into savings accounts,  more houses bought, more groceries bought etc.
Dorian explains that what this has to do with Adrienne is that her fate is still up in the air when it comes to whether she sees her 50th birthday or 90th birthday. Dorian truthfully tells Adrienne that building at least a one year living expense fund would accomplish her to be able to consistently pay back at the least the minimum on her student loans and spare her from a karmic mercy death.
Dorian explains to Adrienne that the first key involving a home denotes that greater prosperity and the essence of peace of mind would more easily magnetize to her and Angus. This too would help reduce the risk of a mercy death for herself and help her be a better financial provider for her husband Angus.
Dorian then brings Adrienne to a table that is orange and violet with a group of spirits disguised as dolls yet with what Adrienne senses benevolent eyes.
Much to Adrienne’s pleasant surprise, Dorian cheerfully exclaims “Permission Granted” as  he hugs her one last time.
Adrienne opens up her eyes as she lands on a pier where a hospital looking naval ship is based.
Navy andor doing some civilian work affiliated with them.
Less than a few seconds later, she feels a warm tingling sensation on her forehead.

This review is from: Hiring the Heavens: A Practical Guide to Developing Working Relationships with the Spirits of Creation (Paperback)
Sweet Dreams by Beyonce Amazon Review from August 22, 2012
5.0 out of 5 starsBlissful Dreams
By Stella Carrier on August 22, 2012
Format: MP3 Music
"Sweet Dreams" by Beyonce first came into my awareness during the winter season of late 2009, when I was still living in Orlando, Florida. "Sweet Dreams" by Beyonce is great for either those who enjoy Beyonce's music and/or tracks containing musical hybrids of hip hop and dance.

5.0 out of 5 starsUnintentionally Came Across on YouTube

I admit that I actually accidently came across this musical gem of the tune Anubis by Mike Candy when I was trying to click on another link while online and my computer mouse unexpectedly clicked on the YouTube link to this song (I had previously known of Mike Candy’s music from 2012 music collection titled Smile especially with the song One Night In Ibiza feat.
