Itachi's Age
Itachi's age in canon is quite a weird topic. Mostly because Kishimoto messed up the timeline completely with contradictory information scattered literally everywhere. And also because the anime changed him to resemble an adult. Depending on the source, Itachi could've been anywhere from 11 to 13 years old during the massacre. Now let's take a closer look.
The exact sources (as well as elaborations) are in the image descriptions. Pluses between panels mean that the panels do not belong next to each other. Slight edits here and there!
Follow-Up Post with a Timeline for Itachi's Life
Sasuke's age during the massacre
First of all, since many people seem to get this one wrong, Sasuke's age during the massacre is confirmed to be 7 years old. This is the only information we have for placing the night of the massacre on the timeline.
Databooks
The databooks will consistently put Sasuke and Itachi at a 5-year gap. Itachi is born on June 9th and Sasuke is born on July 23rd. Using this information, Itachi would have been 12-13 years old during the massacre.
Kakashi's Statement
Next up is Kakashi. He states that Itachi was 13 years old when he became a squad captain at ANBU. This information matches the one from the databooks and implies that Itachi got promoted in the short timespan of less than two months between his own birthday and the Uchiha massacre.
Sasuke's Memories
Now, looking at the manga, things are getting a little more tricky.
First of all, since this is very important for pinpointing the characters' ages, Japanese schools start the school year in April. The children who start school are aged 6. While this is not stated outright by the manga, it matches fairly well with later established information from the manga.
The Waves Arc takes place during Spring. So Genin must graduate/start in Spring as well (further elaboration in the image description).
And we know that Itachi began the Academy at age 6. So it is probably the starting age for all children in Konoha.
But now we run into our first issue just by puzzling together the timeline utilizing chapters 220-224. As explained in Sasuke's flashbacks, Itachi became Chunin at age 10. At some point, 6 months after that, he joins ANBU - which coincides with Sasuke's first day at the Academy which is most likely in April.
The problem here is the characters' birthdays.
6 months before April was October. Since Itachi's birthday is in June, he could not have turned 11 in that time frame. In other words, Itachi is still 10 years old when he joins ANBU. And since Sasuke is still 6 years old at that point in time, that puts Itachi and Sasuke at an age gap of 4 years as opposed to 5. Consequently, during the massacre (when Sasuke was 7) Itachi would have been 11-12 years old.
This would also be a much better match for Sasuke's depiction in chapter 402. Here, an Academy-aged Itachi (6-7 years old) is playing with his brother. Sasuke would be 2-3 years old rather than 1-2.
We now know that the databook information does not match Sasuke's flashbacks on multiple accounts and it's either because of their alleged ages, their birthdays, or both.
But Now Which One Is Correct?
The answer to that one is: We don't know. Kishimoto didn't pay a lot of attention to his timeline and Itachi is the biggest victim of that. But we can guess.
Right now, the databooks are contradicting the manga. One solution to this problem can be found in the novels. In "Itachi Shinden: Book of Dark Night" (chapter 6, part 2) in a conversation between Danzo and Hiruzen, we learn that Itachi was aged up on paper to lead an ANBU squad.
While the timelines are not a perfect match (for example, the novels state Itachi to be 11 years old during his promotion to ANBU), this is a plausible explanation for the discrepancy: The databooks might just reflect the information considered "official" or "known" in-universe.
The databooks would remain (mostly) accurate in this regard. It would explain the 4-year gap between Sasuke and Itachi from the manga. It would explain the memory from chapter 402. It would explain why Kakashi thinks that Itachi was 13 during his promotion. It would even explain height inconsistencies between manga Itachi and databook Itachi, knowing the data was messed with.
In conclusion: Itachi was likely 11-12 years old during the massacre. Furthermore, this means he was 16-17 during part 1 of Naruto and 20 at the time of his death.
If you're interested in a visualization of Itachi's life in a timeline, check out my follow-up post.
#a graphic designer died looking at my ugly ass panel screenshots#i naively tried to set up a timeline for sasuke's and itachi's childhoods or fanfic purposes and then immediately ran into this problem#imagine my surprise when i couldn't even bring the first event to line up#i then bothere the-real-sasuke-uchiha with my dilemma :')#and we both agreed that kishi was probably drunk#but the 'aged up' theory is the most plausible one yet#i already liked the novel's take on this before but i didn't realize until now that this was supported by the manga#naruto#sasuke uchiha#itachi uchiha#timeline#theory#headcanon#hc#itachi's age during the massacre#naruto discussion

Hi, dear person! Do you happen to know around how old Bud was when he used the cup or if he was already mercenary king? I feel like he probably became that afterwards but cannot remember if it was mentioned for the life of me or even what did bro have that he was dying TT
Sorry for bothering you with this but idk who'd be able to answer. The fandom wiki didn't mention it.
Hello, dear person!
I honestly did not recall whether Bud ever used the jar himself or not at first. So I searched for any mention of it. Here's what I found:
‘Based on the history left with my family, the jar has been used three times until now.’
-TCF Part 1 Chapter 347
And:
‘Is it fine to just bring that jar out? Isn’t it an ancient artifact?’ ‘Yes.’ The Mercenary King then continued in a serious tone. ‘You just need to return it within three days.’ […] ‘…Does that mean Eruhaben-nim can’t break it when he uses it?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Why?’ Bud Illis had looked down. ‘The curse of the wind blades around Wind Island will chase after the person who took the artifact and destroyed it.’ One of the gatekeepers in the Mercenary King’s household had tried to steal the ancient artifact and run. However, that gatekeeper was killed like the other corpses of Wind Island three days later. Even the gatekeeper’s family members were all killed except one person to continue the line. They were killed even though they were not at Wind Island. The wind was said to have chased after them no matter where they were. As for the ancient artifact, it was swept up by a whirlwind and returned to its proper spot. ‘Nobody dared to desire that ancient artifact after that. Many gatekeepers never even went into the temple because they were afraid of the curse.’ They were worried that they might get greedy and try to run with the ancient artifact. They were also worried that they would use it to heal someone and the jar would reach its limit. Many different fears prevented the gatekeepers from taking it. ‘But you were a gatekeeper who went in and used it?’ ‘You’re right. I am a bit brave. Thanks to that, I was able to determine the approximate number of remaining times it could be used, as well as its limits. What do you think? Friend, don’t you think you’re going to lose this drinking bet?’
-TCF Part 1 Chapter 349
Bud Illis said that the jar had been used three times, according to his family's history. Which means there were two before himself, with additional one who tried to steal the jar. Making Eruhaben the fourth and last person to use it.
Bud's age isn't specified, but since Adin's men found out a rumor about an aritfact that could "give a person a new life", I assume it was old news; there is quite big distance between the two continents and international information flow is slow, even taking Arm into account. And the jar was supposed to be a secret, so. So the events when Bud used it took place probably quite some time before canon timeline.
Bud is a regular human, he can't be REALLY old like Beast People or Elves or Dragons; his age is never specified, but the fact that he's never described as very young or very old makes me believe he's somewhere in his 30's. Personally, my headcanon is that Bud found Glenn Poeff injured when they were both young (I imagine them as teenagers, maybe around 14-18, it would fit with the timeline of when the Eastern Assassin Households fell) and used the jar to save his life. It's exactly the sort of thing Bud would do, "being a bit brave" and all, and it would make sense how the rumor would start. It would also explain the bond between the two and the sort of dynamic they have, with Glenn not being surprised when Bud acted reckless. It would fit well with how TCF friendships work in general.
I couldn't find any more information about Bud and the jar in the novel, but I might have missed something. Remember, most of that are my personal speculations. In any case, I hope it can be useful :)

like its ok to wish that hunter did more to get crosshair out but i will say PLEASE stop saying that rescuing the literal helpless child from the child murdering fascists was somehow wrong of Hunter.
also like. can we stop undermining the very clear and obvious way that crosshair liked the power that he was given in the empire, especially over others, he was radicalized. he convinced himself that the war crimes were justified in the name of power. that is a far bigger problem and something that is going to haunt him far longer and requires a lot more to undo and forgive (and some people will never and should never do that, and others can't bc they are Dead)
to say it was all the effects of the chips, at this point in the series, its just not true. the events of aftermath specifically are 100% the chip. Everything after that is up for debate. We don't know when it was taken out, but at some point it was, and crosshair's pov is that it doesn't matter when, bc he likes where he's at. Had he not been abandoned by the empire on Kamino for so long, I doubt he would have ever changed, had Cody not deserted after confronting him about what it was the clones were doing, I doubt he would have ever changed. Had he not been forced to see Mayday's struggle and fight to bring him home and still after everything they both gave after everything suffered mayday died not in battle but because someone couldn't be bothered to even try to help him, I don't think he would have changed. I don't think Hunter could talk him out of it, and maybe he didn't try hard enough, or really, at all. Crosshair's version of loyalty, though, is blind, unquestioning, a soldiers loyalty. Obeying what they were doing, things that Hunter couldn't obey, and would have made him a monster to do.
But I can't imagine the disgust I would be forced to contend with if like, my family member came forward like "oh yes we're built to be soldiers, that doesn't mean preserving or protecting innocents, It means power and killing those who get in my way. its my purpose in life and i think you're stupid for not getting over the moral objections" like what do you even say to that. Hunter at that point had SEEN what the empire was doing. They both had, their home planet, (and head canons aside, all clones did in fact, in canon, see it as their home.) orbitally bombarded to secure power. How do you talk someone out of that, if fundamentally what your disagreement is on the value of life. You don't. Hence Hunter's demands in S3E5 to know what changed. What finally made Crosshair realize what he believed, about power and his purpose, was wrong.
Crosshair didn't want out. Crosshair was upset they didn't stay. He saw their purpose as being with the Empire. They escaped and ran and deserted. If they weren't with him, in the Empire, then they should die, like the Jedi, and Crosshair did absolutely believe that.
So this is all to say that. they are not equally responsible for what happened to their squad. Crosshair didn't have a choice at first— but once he did keep running right over that line. And a lot of us hoped that he was lying about the chip, that he wasn't entirely responsible for all that he did. But he was. That's clear at this point.
Even the whole chip matter— it's prolly really hard for Hunter to separate it. logically, he knows it was partially the chip at this point. But at that point in the story he watched someone he was incredibly close to nearly kill them all and at the time he had no idea why. If Hunter'd not grabbed Omega by the leg and tripped her she would be shot dead. If omega hadn't surprised Crosshair by shooting his gun out of his hand he would have killed Hunter. He shot wrecker, to use him as bait against the rest of them? Like, again, we all knew about the chip, but I can understand the emotional toll of such a thing bc he DIDNT at the time. The betrayal in that moment? How do you let it go?
But thats all fine! its interesting its character development and its the story they were determined to tell. But like. we can be honest.
Now if someone thinks that im wrong i'd love to know what exactly hunter needs to be sorry about, and why he's equally responsible that doesn't like either downplay the war crimes and murder and doesn't throw Omega like directly into harms way and under the bus.
#im still seeing variations on he CHOSE a GIRL HE DIDNT KNOW over his BROTHER#yes. bc crosshair is a grown man who can kill people whom for reasons unknown to hunter At The Time was trying to kill them. and almost did#even not knowing her. omegas a fucking innocent child. yes most sane people with an ounce of compassion will prioritize making sure shes ok#they're prolly never gonna have a blowout argument where hunter grovels guys and its bc. what would he be groveling for.#im sorry i didn't do the war crimes with you they looked fun? please be real#the bad batch#the bad batch spoilers

Raising Stripe
Chapter 32
If there is one thing Craig can't stand it's a crowded mall. Every year he makes an active effort to avoid the mall during the holidays by purchasing his gifts online. There is nothing he can't get online and he has no reason to be caught up in the shopping madness. Nothing except an opportunity to take a picture with a fat man in a red suit.
Tweek had been hooked on the idea of getting a cute Christmas picture of Stripe. No matter how much Craig disliked the idea of spending his day in a crowded mall, he couldn't bear to shoot down Tweek's enthusiasm. It was rare to see Tweek be excited about anything involving Christmas and if a holiday picture caused it then Craig would spend all day in a swamped mall on Saturday.
That morning, Tweek woke up and fed Stripe a bowl of yogurt with blueberries. He quickly bathed Stripe and pulled out a cute gingerbread onesie from the closet. He dressed the baby and took extra care in fixing his hair before placing the hood of the onesie on his head. Once satisfied he snap a quick picture to send Laura and Tricia.
Craig was putting away the clean dishes when Tweek came in gushing about the baby in his arms. “Craig isn't he the cutest gingerbread!”
Craig turned to look at Stripe’s outfit. He looked like a typical gingerbread with a dark brown body, white frosting lines, baby blue candy eyes, and bright magenta gumdrop buttons. He chuckled as he noticed Stripe chewing on the onsie’s glove. Craig grabbed a pacifier from the counter and gently tugged Stripe's hand out of his mouth.
“Here Stripe, Mama's not gonna be happy if you chew a hole in your clothes before your picture.” Craig said, popping the pacifier in the baby's mouth.
Stripe held out his arm asking to change parents. Craig accepted him and lightly bounced him in his arms. He smiled when Stripe shrieked in laughter, but stopped when he saw Tweek's phone flash.
“Tweek! What the…Don't post that!” Craig called, chasing after his husband who was already running to their bedroom.
“TOO LATE! YOUR MOM ALREADY LIKED IT!” He shouted from behind the closed door. Craig could hear him laughing and was not surprised when the baby in his arms joined in.
“Traitor.” He playfully said, pressing a kiss against Stripe's cheek.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just as Craig imagined, the mall was crowded. Everywhere he looked, people were rushing around and balancing more bags than they could carry. He even saw a fight between two disgruntled shoppers. He took a breath keeping his mind on the goal: find the plump red guy.
“Look! There he is. That's Santa, Stripe. If you're a good boy he'll bring you a gift on Christmas.” Tweek explained to the baby he was currently holding. Stripe turned to look in the direction he was pointing to but didn't show any other signs of interest.
Tweek rushed to the line which to Craig's dismay had a few people. For the first time Tweek was buzzing with excitement rather than anxiety. “You seem more eager about meeting Santa than Stripe. Should I be jealous?” Craig said in a teasing manner.
“What! No it's just… Do you remember those Coffee with Santa events my parents used to host every year at the shop. The shop would always be busy and I was always required to work at the shop. Every year at the end of the day I was always the last kid to sit on Santa's lap. My mom always took my picture and I got a chance to give Santa my wishlist. Every year I got exactly what I asked for on Christmas.” Tweek smiled fondly at the memory. “When I found out it was my dad dressing up as Santa, I was angry. It was just another thing my parents ruined in my life.” Tweek spat bitterly.
Tweek sighed but his smile came back, “My parents made many mistakes raising me but this is the one thing I can't hold against them. I was hurt about the truth, but those are my happiest memories as a child. It's the one family tradition I can share with Stripe.”
Craig embraced Tweek. He knew better than anyone how awful Tweek's parents were. It was hard to understand how Tweek could still say anything positive about them, but Craig would always support his husband's feelings.“I'm glad your parents did something right for you.” Craig whispered into Tweek's ear.
Tweek pushed Craig away to rub his teary eye.”Aww man don't say sappy stuff like that!... Here hold Stripe while I make sure he's ready for the picture.”
When Stripe was comfortable in his arms, Craig took notice of how far the line had advanced. He was pleased to see they were next in line. In fact the family was already looking through the pictures on the computer and he could see a redhead in an elf costume beck them over.
“Wait! Kyle!?” Craig quickly glanced at the elf in front of him in disbelief.
“Craig? Tweek? Wow, when did you guys adopt a kid?” Kyle asked.
“Long story, why are you here?” Tweek answered.
“Stan and I needed extra cash for the holidays so we took up the part time Christmas photography job.”
“Wait! Stan's here? Is he wearing an elf costume like you?” Craig jumped at the opportunity to see his highschool rival look ridiculous.
“Umm, not exactly. We applied to be Santa but only one of us could fit the costume so…” Kyle pointed to the man in the red suit sitting on an elegant green couch. Stan dressed as Santa gave the family a short wave. “Well go ahead and hand your kid to Santa.”
Craig walked up and placed Stripe on Santa's lap. Stripe was confused as his Dada moved back. He looked up at the man he was sitting on with curiosity. The strange man had a big fuzzy thing attached to his face and smiled wide before bellowing out, “HO! HO! HO!”
Stripe's lip began to wobble and he let out a fearful cry. Craig quickly scooped up his crying baby and began consoling him. He shot a glare at the man dressed as Santa. “What is wrong with you?”
“What? I didn't do anything. Some kids just don't like Santa.” Stan tried to defend himself.
“Craig, it's okay. Stripe just doesn't feel comfortable sitting on a stranger's lap. We should just go home.” Tweek calmly suggested. Craig wanted to agree but he could clearly see the disappointment in Tweek's eyes. He looked down at Stripe who was snuggling against his chest settling from the fright.
“No! We came here to get Stripe's picture with Santa and I'm not leaving without one.” Craig said full of determination. He grabbed Tweek's hand and guided him to sit on Stan's right side before settling on the left with Stripe on his lap.
The photographer quickly arranged her camera angle and lighting. She held up and jingled a set of Christmas bells catching Stripe's attention. “Smile.” The camera flashed a couple times before the family was given the signal to move.
“Merry Christmas!” Stan called out only to receive Craig's typical middle finger.
Tweek was ecstatic. He pointed to his favorite picture where Stripe smiled wide enough to see his teeth. Tweek decided he wanted a large print to frame on their living room wall and a few smaller copies to share with friends and family.
Craig was pleased to see his husband's enthusiasm. Looking at the picture Tweek chose, he was more drawn to his husband's joyful expression. Seeing Tweek relive his happiest childhood memories was a memory he planned to cherish as long as he lived.
Can you write about what each member’s reaction would be to seeing someone hit on you in public pls???
Hi Anon! I'm excited as this is my first request! So thank you for the request! I am going to be doing this in order of unit, so it is less to take on at a time, I hope that is okay & that you enjoy it!
HHU Reacts: S/O getting hit on in front of them:
Seungcheol
you know he would be super protective, and outwardly at that. he might actually be a giant puppy, but he will turn into Mr. mean guy to anyone who crosses any of your boundaries.
I imagine this to happen at a formal event like a wedding or work party, so you are both dressed in formal attire. Of course, you look absolutely gorgeous and stunning and beautiful. However, it is no surprise that someone is asking you to dance.
He immediately holds his head a little higher and puffs his chest a bit more before returning to your side and smoothly snaking an arm around your waist with a kiss to the forehead, making sure to make eye contact with you to see if he needs to tell this guy off or just continue to do what he was doing.
Wonwoo
I fully imagine yall being in a bookstore, and you are waiting for him in the fantasy section as he is in the bathroom. When he comes back out, he sees you and someone else facing each other and that person handing you a book with a smile on their face.
he is immediately walking towards you, hoping not to seem too overbearing. once he is finally in earshot, he can hear the person say something to the extent of
"You are exactly what I imagined the lead in this book to look like, strong and beautiful." wonwoo scoffs at the sound of this person's attempt at getting your number.
"Thank you," he hears you respond, but can see how tense you are even from behind you, so he clears his throat to get the attention of the both of you. The sight of your shoulders relaxing brings him peace but doesn't stop him from placing a hand on your hip as you turn to face him.
The person hitting on you seems to get the message, and once he leaves wonwoo can't help but see who the person was comparing you to, and once he reads the title of the book, he cant help but laugh, and it seems that you had been holding in your fit of laughter as to the protagonist of the book you were being compared to.
mingyu
jealous boy. unless it was a situation that caused you to be uncomfortable, he would proceed to be jealous that you were getting attention from other people.
"what's wrong gyu?"
"why don't you ask your new partner hm?" he would retort, sparing a small gesture to the person who was definitely flirting with you earlier.
"oh, I see now." you would start, trying to make eye contact. "you're jealous."
"i am not jealous." he'd scoff
"oh okay, I can go and talk to them again...."
"wait no." he would give you puppy eyes, and you couldn't help but give him heart
vernon
I feel like vernon's reactions would vary very broadly depending on the situation. especially depending on if you were uncomfortable or not. if you seemed comfortable, or as comfortable as one can be when a stranger is hitting on them, then he would just come to stand beside you, not using any pda, as that was not something that either of you were into, but just providing his presence there to make sure you knew he was there for you. in this situation i don't think he would give much of a reaction unless the pick-up line was super cringy, in which case he would wait until the person was gone and then you two would try to control your fits of laughter.
on the other hand, if you seemed uncomfortable, then he would quite literally remove you from the situation. I see vernon as the silent mad type, so I feel like he would take your hand and direct you to a secluded area/to your car (depending on where you are) and would check to see if you're okay, and would only be half joking when asking you if you wanted him to beat the guy up.
Chapter 7: Surprise!
Night had fallen by the time you reentered your house after what seemed to be an endless day. Only the streetlamp on the distant sidewalk illuminated the ghostly shapes of sheet-covered furniture in your living room and the neat stacks of boxes that sat every few feet along your route. You did not bother to flick on an overhead light to illuminate the winding path. None were needed; the sound of conversation and the warm glow issuing from the one occupied room in your house sufficed to guide you safely to the kitchen.
"Sustenance has arrived!" Thor boomed as he followed you through the open door.
What had once been the most terrifying place in the world to you no longer had any room at all to contain fear. The dining room table had been pulled to the center of the tile, but even that could not contain all the people inside. Your usual four chairs couldn't either. Some people stood as a result. Some had pulled in chairs from other rooms. Everyone was there, however: Hank, Janet, Hope, Scott, and Cassie looked up at your arrival. The first rose to pull some of the pizza boxes from Thor's arms.
"It's about damn time," Hank grumped as he placed them on the counter by the sink and pulled one open. "The doorbell rang twenty minutes ago. We'll be lucky if anything's still warm."
"They still have a working oven if we need it, dear," Janet said.
"And if we do, I offer my apologies," said Thor, placing the remaining boxes near the oven. "The delivery man is an Avengers fan. [Name] and I had to convince him to take money in exchange for his goods and services."
"Wait. You're telling me people give you guys free stuff?" asked Scott.
"They often try. Of course, it is improper for heroes such as ourselves to accept such lavish gifts."
"Wow."
Scott's awed tone caused Hope to roll her eyes at you behind his back. You couldn't exactly blame her. Thor could easily afford to reject free food from his admirers when it wasn't his money being spent. He probably didn't even know what an American twenty-dollar bill looked like. Since the last thing you wanted was to get Hank started on a rant about Tony Stark's refusal to pay Avengers like employees, though, you kept your mouth shut and joined the line for dinner.
A tickling at your side made you look up. Now Hope stood right next to you.
"Just how many pictures did he insist on before he left?" she asked, voice low enough to go unheard above Hank and Thor's continued quarrel.
"Too many," you said tiredly.
"Poor thing. Your ankles must be killing you."
"They're not feeling great."
She took you by the shoulders and forcibly turned you toward the table. "Go sit down. I'll bring your food over."
You couldn't muster up any energy to argue with her. Bobbing up and down like a half-deflated balloon, you dragged your swollen body over to one of the now-empty kitchen chairs. There you collapsed, grateful to have just a moment to rest. Packing up your entire house in one day would have been a tall order when you weren’t in your final trimester—not that any of your friends had let you do much of anything since you were. How you could be so exhausted after so little work, you had no idea. And yet you were that exhausted. Somehow you must have fallen asleep in the midst of all the commotion. A hand on your shoulder had you starting awake only a few minutes later.
“It’s just me,” said Hope. “I brought you some food.”
In fact, she had. She slid a plate with three slices of your favorite pizza in front of you. Forgetting that you’d hardly done anything that day demanding that level of caloric intake, you snatched up the first slice and stuffed half of it in your mouth before Hope could sit down next to you. “I’m glad to see you’ve still got your appetite after everything that’s been going on,” she said.
“Indeed! My [Name] must keep her strength up for her upcoming labor!”
Thor sat down on your other side just in time to put his own two cents into the conversation. His own plate overflowed with pizza. He must have had the equivalent of at least one entire pie stacked there. Well, you’d ordered as much as you had partially because you knew how much food Thor could put away. You also knew he’d try to get you to eat some of it as well. When the doctor said you were eating for two, Thor took that comment seriously—and Asgardian babies, apparently, needed a lot of sustenance.
Cassie trotted over to one of the vacant chairs. As soon as she spotted Thor’s mountain of food, her eyes grew huge. “Woah! Is that how you became so mighty? If I eat that much pizza, will I be mighty, too?”
“You’ll probably get pretty big, Peanut,” her father said as he, too, joined your group at the table. “But I don’t think pizza will make you strong.”
“Pizza is not the necessary ingredient, little one! I am sure you already mighty for your size. If you keep working, one day you could even be worthy enough to pick up my hammer.” Thor gestured at the nearby corner. There sat Mjolnir, safely out of the way of anyone’s path.
Her eyes went even wider. “But pizza won’t make me less worthy?” “Eat as much pizza as your heart desires. Why, I eat pizza regularly and remain worthy to this day!”
Cassie grinned. Then she dove into her own meal. You noticed, however, that she kept watching Thor, and seemed to be doing her best to keep up with him as he ate.
For a little while, no one spoke. The entire group focused more on eating than on talking. It had been a long, busy day. You didn’t appreciate this moment of respite as much at the first. All the quiet served to remind you that this sort of gathering would never happen again, or at least if it did, it wouldn’t be the same. All of a sudden, you weren’t ready to face that. Every person you cared about sat in your kitchen that night. In a few days’ time, you’d be eating your meals with Thor’s friends, who, while undoubtedly good people, weren’t your friends. Only now had it really occurred to you that in leaving this house, you weren’t only giving up your beloved gardens and a job you didn’t care for much to begin with.
“Hey, [Name],” Cassie’s voice interrupted your gloomy thoughts. “You’ll be back for my soccer finals, right? We just made the playoffs yesterday!”
Hope didn’t give you a chance to answer yourself. She took Cassie’s nearest hand in hers and said, “It’s going to be hard for [Name] to travel until she has the baby.”
Cassie looked at you, crestfallen. “But you’re traveling to New York this weekend.”
“That sort of travel can’t be helped,” said Hope.
“If I can be there for your tournament, I will,” you assured Cassie, then added at Hope’s stern look, “I’ve been assured that the Bifrost is perfectly safe for unborn babies. As long as I’m not actually in labor when I use it, I should be fine.”
“So long as Kevin does not attempt to attend the event as well,” Thor said.
Hank, standing over by the sink with his wife, snorted. “Trust me. If that jackass dares to get anywhere within my line of sight, he’ll regret it.”
“Thank you, Dr. Pym.”
The sincerity in Thor’s voiced only made Hank shrug awkwardly. He wouldn’t meet Thor’s eyes or yours.
Janet stroked his shoulder. “You’re going to miss, [Name], aren’t you? We’re all going to.” She looked over at you. “You’re part of the family.”
Those words were like a dagger to your heart. Tears filled your eyes as you slowly rose to your aching feet and made your way over to where she and Hank stood. Still avoiding looking directly at you, the latter removed his glasses and sniffed. Another jolt in your stomach accompanied your realization that Hank’s eyes were wet, too.
“Hank, I’ll be back,” you said.
“Sure you will. That’s why you’re moving all the way across the country.”
“I’m moving all the way across the country because of Kevin.”
“No, you’re moving to be with the Avengers. You don’t trust us to keep you safe.”
You could have laughed at that, had there not been a gigantic, Thor-sized frog in your throat. “Hank, you’re retired. You’ve just got Janet and Hope back. I don’t want you wasting your time keeping me safe when there’s an AI in New York that can make sure I never see Kevin again.”
“She’s right, darling,” said Janet. “And you’ll come visit us, won’t you, [Name]? After all the dust has settled?”
“Of course I will. Janet’s right, Hank. You all are my family. And this little guy is going to want to see his grandparents.”
Through you fully anticipated a pause after this announcement, you had not expected it to be quite so long and thorough. Every single mouth in the room gaped at you—except for Thor’s, obviously. He’d known you were going to tell everyone about your plans this evening from the beginning.
“Grandparents?” Hank croaked.
“That’s right. Thor and I went to see the doctor this week for an ultrasound. I’m having a boy. We’ve decided to keep him and raise him as ours.”
“Kevin,” Thor said, “will have nothing to do with the baby. That is also one of the reasons for our moving. Though [Name] prevailed in obtaining protection from the court, that protection is only a piece of paper. We want to ensure the child will never have contact with Kevin.”
“Oh, that’s wonderful, [Name]! Congratulations!” Janet threw her arms around you.
Hank still seemed too stunned to speak. In the vacuum of his shock, Scott, Hope, and Cassie came over to the sink as well to offer congratulations and hugs.
“I was hoping you’d be his godmother,” you told Hope when she released you.
She didn’t answer. Her eyes flooded with tears to match your own, and then she swept you up in another hug even longer than the last. This embrace only came to an end when Cassie said:
“Does this mean I’m getting a baby brother?”
Hope laughed wetly before turning to the little girl. “Not quite.”
“More like a baby cousin,” said Scott.
“Can I teach him how to play soccer?” Cassie asked.
“Once he’s old enough,” you answered.
“When’s that?”
You opened your mouth to tell not for a few years at least (no matter what Thor might say to the contrary) when Hank straightened and took a step in your direction.
Hope let you go.
“[Name],” Hank began.
He didn’t need to finish. Not wanting to lose your nerve, you wrapped your arms around him, paused, and kissed him on the cheek.
“Thank you, Hank,” you said as you let go of him.
“Harrumph,” he replied. “I’ll never forgive Kevin for what he did to you. But if you’re willing to move on and make the best of a bad situation, well, so am I.” Then he smiled. “You better bring that kid to see me all the time. Don’t you go letting Tony Stark fill his head with the wrong ideas.”
“I promise.”
You and Hank might have continued to smile tearfully at one another for another twenty minutes—or at least until you couldn’t bear standing up any longer—had Janet not suddenly squealed:
“Group hug! Group hug!”
“Wha—”
Too late! Janet interrupted Hank’s protest by way of squishing him between you and herself. Then Hope joined in, followed by Scott, then Cassie, and finally Thor, who practically lifted the whole group into the air together in his enthusiasm to participate.
“Would you kindly put me down?” Hank snapped.
Everyone laughed. Thor obliged as far as placing Hank’s feet back on the ground, but he didn’t let him go.
Warm and held at the very center of the throng, you felt only happiness and relief. No one hated you for your decision to keep the baby. Kevin would never bother you again. And most importantly of all: You weren’t really giving up anything in leaving San Francisco. All you were doing was gaining more time with Thor, and perhaps a few new friends along the way. Heaven knew you’d need a lot to get through the coming years. Fortunately, you knew the Pyms would always be there for you, and Scott and Cassie, no matter how much Thor or Tony Stark they had to endure.
✨ Napoleon's route in Run Away With Me story event (01/23-01/31) highlights ✨ -- boredom as a proof of peace
Ngl my first reaction was "of course, because his handwriting is such a mess she recognizes it right away..." which is.... something not canon as far as i know (?) but have you seen irl napo's handwriting? Disaster! Well, since his signature on the in-game letters is the same, i guess his handwriting is the same too 🤔 Lol now im imagining mc standing in front of the door for ages trying to read the note 😂
He's....even more of a bully in this event. Surprising her from behind is one thing, but he doesn't miss teasing her about being easy to surprise either 😭
he says that later on too! After successfully switching the key in her pocket with a brooch without her noticing
Her comment about him being like a magician 🤭 he truly outdid himself and it's quite cheesy... Im glad that he addressed that part. But he said it's not like himself to be cheesy...?! are you sure about that
As a whole in this event i noticed a lot of stuff brought up again later on and basically happening twice and I LOVE it, as strange as it is to be impressed by that. It's like, mc says she feels like a princess - i gawk, then towards the end napo picks her up "like a princess" - "OH he treats her REALLY like a princess!!!🥺" that way these things really make a strong impression and stay with you don't they.....
In that line of thought, what's with him and kidnapping all of a sudden?
Maybe the broke the fourth wall and started ironizing the overuse of kidnaping in the game fkkdfnkdkf next thing you know he claims to be under the influence of an aphrodisiac everytime youre are about to do it
I love how secretive he was about the whole thing, it's really his style ever since his route to organize surprise dates like that...and it gives him one too many opportunities to show his "cool" side (sudden fireworks? Dunno nunuche, it must be magic.) and to tease her endlessly.... In the end it turns out it's another of his heroic acts that lead to the villa being rented to him ...and he couldn't refuse when the owner suggested enjoying the fireworks to be shoot off with a lover 🥺❤️
Still the most important part of it is coming to the realization that boredom is a proof of peace. Coming from Napoleon who has long dreamed of peace and finally found it in MC, it's even more special. Who else is gonna see you doing mundane chores and bring out a positive side of it: being used to a life that once seemed so alien, and even dangerous 😭 he's good at seeing certain situations - even the most simple moments of everyday life- in depth and under different angles and interpreting them in a way so they have some sort of correlation to his deepest feelings. Nope, being cheesy surely isn't like him, nooo
His emotional maturity is always showing in such situations and it's part of what makes his character so great in my opinion. Being cool and romantic and thoughtful and charming and a dozen others is just a nice plus
And even after that, he's still ready to fight off her boredom in whatever way he can...hence the "I'll kidnap you anytime" part 🤭🤭 he's always so creative, i can't imagine feeling bored for long with him as a lover
----
I didnt get to see the other branch because someone forgot to log in and use her stamina 😭😭😭 maybe I'll find a way to see it, i also have the epilogue yet to see ( still emotionally and financially recovering from the 500 dia spent on it) but i can safely call it one of his best event stories so far... It felt of great importance about seeing their progress as a couple while still being a classy napo experience ™ 10/10
Babe u asked for Thoma brainrots and my simp ass will pROVIDE <333
So like I've had this really pestering brainrot that hasn't left me alone since I played his hangout event right––
Since we know that Thoma takes care of strays in his free time, I couldn't help but Imagine what his dynamic would be with a reader who has some sort of veterinary background yk? Like, imagine the reader comes to Inazuma city, and like on their first day in the new place they see Thoma feeding the strays under the sakura tree right and they're like, huh cute, tho they have to move on and get back to business. Tho, after since they've properly settled in, they also start caring for the strays in their own way–– checking them for illnesses, treating any wounds they may get, and bringing them food on days where they notice Thoma hadn't come around to his schedule. At this point tho, neither of them have really met, though they're aware of each others' existence yk?? At one point tho, their schedules do accidentally line up, and Thoma and the reader have like a meet cute n shit but omg my brain hadn't finished the brainrot so that's like all i got rn kjnadkjsndas
NOTES. oh my god catte my ning this idea is SO GOOD !!! AAAAAAA PLS THE FLUFF IN THIS ONE CURES MY SOUL !!!!
fluff, pure fluff i say.
I feel like THOMA would be the one who’d catch vet!reader while you were checking on the strays—you’re weekly checkup, you call it. However, you find yourself usually drawn to the place even if it was not part of your schedule. Must’ve been your curiosity with the boy who always drops by just to feed and pet them each time he gets. It’s a rather rare sight, you’d think. People would usually ignore strays and at moments they pet or feed them, it’d normally be a one-time thing. This boy, however, genuinely cared for them enough to sacrifice his time and effort for their care.
“I didn’t know we now have a veterinarian in town,” he chirps and for a bit, you jumped at the surprise, however easing down when you saw who it was.
“I didn’t know there are people like you either,” you stood up and brushed the dirt off of you, finding a curve of a smile climbing up your lips, “It’s nice to finally have met you, I always see you around here. These strays wouldn’t have been receiving care if you’re not here,” you paused as you bow down in respect, “On behalf of them, I must thank you,”
He awkwardly chuckles as you saw him scratch the back of his neck, however grinning before crouching down to scratch the ears of that one dog who seeks for his attention. Silence engulfed the both of you but before it could even fester further, he speaks.
“You know, how about we thank each other through a meal?” he looks up and flashes a warm look towards you, however interrupted when the dog on his arms barked enthusiastically, making him chuckle, “See? Even this buddy agrees!”
And who were you to even say no to that?
If You Love Me || Sylki Fanfic
Loki x Sylvie fanfiction
[LOKI FINALE SPOILERS]
dt @entertainmentforgods
(every mean comments about this ship will be deleted. If you don't like this ship, please just ignore.)
They did it, it was over. The impossible had come true.
Their heart beating wildly, the anguish of their uncertainty gradually fades as they understand the finality of it all.
Loki and Sylvie had joined forces to destroy the true mastermind of the TVA. The overpowered individual who pulled the strings behind the curtain.
The Goddess of Mischief dropped her bloodstained sword on the dark ground, making a loud metallic sound. He Who Remains had just gave his last breath.
Sylvie took a deep breath while staring at the inert body of the one who called himself The Conqueror. As Loki stood behind her, he watched her worriedly. She had just accomplished what she had fought for all her life. So many years feeding a justified anger towards one man, for it turned out that the Time Keepers were nothing but a sham. So many years of hiding, of surviving in the midst of so many apocalypses instead of just living fearlessly. Instead of living happily, instead of laughing, smiling, dancing, singing, enjoying the present moment, observing the universe and its many wonders without them being destroyed around her, loving and being loved in return... All of that was taken away from her, because The Ruler had decided to do so. Because only one man had made the decision to sacrifice her timeline and her family and those she loved. She had lost everything as a child, because a human had condemned her existence.
And now, the latter had just died. He had lived millions of lives, and the last had just ended, killed by the vengeful hand of an innocent orphan.
Slowly, Loki moved closer to her as he kept his eyes on her. Then when he was right behind her, he gently took her hand to try to get her out of her torpor. Her face turned to him as her gaze was drawn to the ground. She was still trying to regulate her breathing and realize the previous events.
"Come with me…" He half-murmurs, his blue eyes tinted with green watching his partner's reaction carefully, anxious to see her breaking down despite her strength to contain her emotions.
It was then that she nodded softly, still too absorbed by this decisive moment in her life. Sylvie turns to him with the intention of following him, no matter where he wanted to take her.
A few seconds later, both found themselves outside the entrance to the Citadel.
Loki went down the few steps, before sitting quietly on one of them. His teammate was not far away and she watched him get comfortable, while thousands of thoughts jostled in her mind. Curious, Loki brought his attention to her. When their eyes met, she began her steps to him to sit beside him on the step.
A deep sigh escaped her lips as she sat down comfortably, her eyes fixed in front of her, finally noticing the awe-inspiring beauty of the sacred timeline they both would have admired sooner if it were in a less disastrous context. But now as they ran after time, it was as if it has just stopped.
The variants observed this painting before them, this masterpiece born from space and the end of the universe. For a moment, a pleasant silence rocked them in a surreal dream. Their eyes shine brightly, illuminated by the cosmos and time materialised in a perfectly fluid and sparkling line. But also, their intense feelings took over and tears had formed.
Hesitant but at the same time strangely confident, Loki turned to Sylvie, only able to imagine how she felt now.
"You're okay ?" He dares to ask softly.
Suffering of an internal conflict, Sylvie keeps her eyes wide open and try to look indifferent.
"I accomplished my mission, how do you think I feel ?" She replies naturally, almost on the defensive.
"Relieved ?"
"Yeah, among other things." She confirms with obviousness.
Amused by her slightly aggressive responses which, according to him, are what make her what she is, the god of mischief ends up stretching a tender smirk, realizing that this tone will never leave her no matter the situations in which they find themselves, as dramatic and catastrophic as they may be.
Innocently, Sylvie ends up looking at her partner.
"Why do you smile ?" She asks.
He smiles a little more.
"The real question is... why don’t you ?" Loki retorts, eyebrows raised.
The Enchantress raised her eyebrows in turn, that desperate, lonely look that makes her charm appearing on her face. What to answer to that? She had learned that Loki was insightful about her, but she wasn't used to being the center of attention that much.
"Why seek answers to trivial questions." She asks rhetorically as she looks away from him.
After a while, Loki also turned away, dissatisfied with her answer but still preferring to let go.
"So this is it..." He starts. "It's done."
"It's done." Sylvie asserts, nodding her head a little.
His eyes going here and there, Odin's son was asking himself lots of questions. Including one in particular.
"What do we do now ?" He wonders, seeming lost.
Sylvie took a deep breath again, ignoring like him the future of events.
"Should we go back to the TVA ?" Loki continues, bringing his gaze back to the one person he trusted.
"Why ?" She asks softly. "They don't need us anymore."
"But we don't have to hide." He responds with a comforting smile. "We are their allies."
"Is that what you want, to go back to the TVA ? But to do what ?" She asks again, looking into his eyes.
He thought for a moment, trying to unravel this enigmatic knot, stepping into the unknown.
"The Sacred Timeline is free" He said, emphasizing the first words in an exaggerated and caricatural way. "Maybe once we get there, we can look for another timeline where we can... fit in ?"
A silence took hold of them, leaving for only words the looks they exchanged.
Sylvie then ends up lowering her gaze in the direction of her own hands, revealing between her fingers the object that the Conqueror kept around his hand. The tempad.
"How about we take a break, until one of us finds a place to go ?" She offers softly, lost in thought as she doesn't take her eyes off the object.
"What, here ?" Loki asks, uncertain and surprised by her answer.
"Why not..?" She replies, her eyebrows raised, her mind being elsewhere. "When you've seen thousands of apocalypses, The Void isn't as bad as it seems."
Loki takes the time to consider this idea, thinking about everything else. The members of the TVA, the sacred timeline that has become completely independent, the very few people to which he is attached. They had just accomplished something huge, should they just ignore the multitudes of consequences their act caused ?
"It's over, Loki." Sylvie said, looking up at him.
Again, his gaze plunged deeply into her eyes
"We did what we had to do." She continues, looking serene.
"What if they still need us ?" He asks, referring to the TVA, specifically Mobius and hunter B-15, the only two people who believed in them and offered their precious help.
Sylvie watched the sacred timeline as it gradually divided, and she sighed.
"I am tired." She admits, ignoring Loki's question. "And you ?"
Loki admired the many timelines that continued to split, before taking a deep breath.
"Yes, me too..." He answers softly, releasing his breath, releasing the pressure he had been holding since his arrival at the TVA and which he hadn't known he had kept in him all this time until now.
However, he couldn't shake off his negative thoughts and all his apprehensions about the completion of their mission and the impact it will have on the trillions of people the universe can create. The god of mischief had, against all odds, developed a conscience and a moral code. Yes, they had delivered the world by giving it back its free will. But for some reason that he didn't quite understand, he began to doubt.
And buried into his torment, Sylvie brought a comforting hand to his.
Loki laid his eyes on this delicate hand, yet belonging to that of a warrior, his heart missing a beat at the gentle contact of the one he had become crazy about. In this moment of complexity, in this major turning point for the multiverse, he almost forgot his feelings. He almost forgot the way they looked at each other in the Citadel as they walked into the darkness. He almost forgot the moment she had gripped his hand in the Void, in front of Alioth, hoping to help him unleash his enchantment powers.
Suddenly caught up in his emotions, he looked up uncertainly in the direction of his partner. Then, she gave him a brief smile, but oh so genuine. The same smile she had given him on Lamentis, while everything around them was death and destruction. Apparently everything was written. But he decided to ignore this detail that the conqueror had shared with too much pride.
Still confused by these unusual feelings, Loki returned that affectionate and heartwarming smile. Only, looking into her expressive eyes - but in the greatest secret, a loving gaze- he realized that the very thing he wanted above all now was to never leave her again. To stay by her side, as long as possible, even forever, better than that : beyond death. His desires made him all the more nervous. He never thought he would be so consumed by his moods, let alone by a loving emotion that possesses him more and more after each day he spends in her company. Nevertheless he wanted to seize this desire and make it come true.
This time, it is the TVA that he forgets, it is the universe that he neglect, it is the time that he ignores.
It is his glorious purpose that he gave up, because he found a new one...
"Sylvie..." He said, drunk with love for her. "I..."
"No, Loki, wait." Sylvie interrupts him, being totally lost and frightened at the same time. "I have to tell you something..."
"Yes ?" He asks, innocent, patient, in love.
She looked at him intensely, trying to express herself. Something seemed to upset her. Loki was trying to read into her eyes, to read her face, when no word could break the barrier of her lips. Disturbed by this confession, it turned out that it was getting stuck between the walls of her throat.
So the Prince of Asgard frowned, intrigued by the torture she was inflicting on herself through this mysterious revelation.
"I..." She starts before her lips instantly seal.
She took a deep breath, bracing herself for another attempt, as Loki's piercing, loving gaze dug into her pupils until it consumed her whole being.
When finally, in complete disarray, she ends up throwing herself at his neck.
Her lips crashed against his, tenderly, passionately but mostly timidly. Surprised but more than grateful for this proof of unexpected love, Loki was not long in returning her kiss with just as much fervor.
Sylvie had never been attached to anyone. She never wanted to be weak because of her feelings. She would never have dedicated herself to someone body and soul, for trusting and breaking down the imposing and solid walls she had built around her was inconceivable. And yet, faced with the many selfless acts of the one who had irrupted into her plan, she had found herself giving him importance. She hated knowing that she was only considering trusting him. She hated the fact that he could climb these walls she had locked herself between.
Worse yet, she was terrified to find herself reaching out to help him climb.
Eyes closed, they kissed each other with fragility, embarrassed to feel such intense emotions but oh how much they surrendered to them.
Sitting side by side, they relished this moment of sincerity and calm after all they had endured. The highlight of their journey. The completion of a battle for freedom, the same cause that the rightful king of Asgard fought against to make it inaccessible to the people of the earth. This cause that he finally chose to defend ; for him at the beginning, but for her on the way, and for the others at the end of their fight.
Slowly, they parted. Loki then dared to rest his forehead tenderly against hers. They kept their eyes closed, as if to immortalized this moment in their memories, for who knows what might happen to them tomorrow.
That's why he whispered these few words :
"You're right, I... I'm a little tired..." He admitted again hesitantly, unsettled by this moment of pure sincerity.
Keeping her forehead against his, Sylvie nodded gently, not daring to open her eyes to face the truth she still had trouble swallowing.
"Let's stay here..." Loki continues.
"Only for a little while." She continues nervously, muttering her desires like him, probably too afraid that someone will hear them or too embarrassed to admit she is weak in front of him, while he is weak in front of her.
"Yes, after all... If something goes wrong, they know where to find us, right ?" He responds with a raised eyebrow as he still kept his eyes closed, trying to reassure himself by making excuses to stay.
"Yeah, of course, nothing prevents Mobius from coming back here." She confirmed casually.
"Well, unless... Unless he had to prune himself." He said worriedly. "But it’s not as if we have no way to reach them !" He adds anyway, optimistic and trying not to feel guilty.
“Yes ! We have the--” She mimics his optimism, as she pulls away from his forehead to observe the object in her free hand.
"T-the tempad..." He confirms by muttering and nodding his head, bringing in turn his attention to the latter.
The taste of her lips was still too present on Loki's for him to think properly. However, he was trying.
Shyly, he finally looked at her again, a quiet smile displayed on his face.
Of course, Sylvie had noticed it. How to ignore him ? So, embarrassed, she gave him an uncertain look, having no idea how they should react now. After all, despite their thousand years of life, the variants had never really been devoted to feelings or romance that seemed more than superfluous and unnecessary at the time. Although they were aware of their emotions, repressed or not, knowing how to react to them was still an area to be explored.
The landscape around them gradually brought her back to reality. Then, looking worried, she turned her gaze to the entrance to the Citadel. She remembered the corpse of the He Who Remains, the one who had wiped out her timeline and certainly thousands more.
Loki frowned, noticing the change in expression on his partner's face.
"Are you sure you’re okay ?" He asks once more with patience.
Lost in thought, Sylvie continued to look at the place where everything had changed with a blank stare.
"No..." she sighs slowly.
The god of mischief was envious to possess the complicated mind of his variant for the sole purpose of finding the source of her ill-being. It would be enough for him to touch her to enchant her, now that he knows the secrets of enchantment. However, would he dare ? He hesitated for a fraction of a second, before totally rejecting the idea away from him. He was incapable of defying her trust, for he knew full well that he would risk a lot if he tried. Especially since he was still cruelly lacking in experience concerning enchantments.
"But when I wake up tomorrow knowing that the one responsible for all this horror is only a memory, then I could savor every second of my life." She asserts returning her attention to Loki as if nothing had happened, speaking with confidence and lightness.
Perplexed but somewhat reassured, he just nodded briefly, straining to accept her answer. However, something in him told him that she wasn't being entirely truthful.
"...Glorious purpose." He said, trying to lighten the mood.
"Mh..." She only answers, a quiet smirk nestling in the corner of her lips.
Calm eventually took over. Neither of them spoke, only watching the story of trillions of lives forming before their eyes in those many fluorescent lines.
"We're not leaving." He speaks up, his statement sounding more like a question mark.
"We're not leaving." She repeats with a little more conviction than him.
Slowly, he finally took a light breath, before sighing in contentment.
After an extremely difficult journey that could have cost them their lives, even though the Ruler had decided that they would be spared so that they could both achieve their goal, they were going to be able to rest, they were going to be able to breathe. Because even if the gods have more ability than humans to resist fatigue and pain, they could do nothing before the effervescence of their emotions. And as tough as they could be, they were tired, mentally and physically.
Thereupon, on this mutual agreement, the two variants had decided that it was time for them to rest for a while. They didn’t know what they were going to do. But they had decided to figure this out…
Together.
AlbeCale Headcanon
[Vampire x Angel]
Inspired by this post
Their first encounter was when Alberu needed to run a mission where there were a lot of people dead. It's such an ordinary day since the medieval century has never been nice to humans who live there. Kill or killed, the existence of demon and vampire in the shadow, everything was the same as Alberu just sighed when he set off his destination to the mansion where everything happened.
But then he found there was someone who was standing tall while looking towards the corpses. There was someone who survived such a tragedy that runs in the mansion that got attacked by vampires. No, survive was such an imprecise word to describe the hollow and void expression the young man has as he froze in his place.
Let alone there was a wound in his neck that implied he had been infected by vampires and become one of them forcefully. It was an unfortunate event when Alberu thought about it, but it didn't make him pity enough to even bother talking to him. So Alberu just did his task to guide all the souls that had left their bodies to the underworld where everything would be decided, before he left the place. Left the red head alone with his own agony.
But Alberu was curious. Since Cale, the name of survivor of the tragedy (he learned about it when he looked towards their files when he arrived at home to make a report) was forcefully become one of vampires, what would he do after this? Since he had become the race who killed all his family members, what is he gonna do from now on? Will he try to get revenge or will he just lay low because he knows he is weak? That question ran in Alberu until he finally decided to come to the mansion again one more time.
Alberu didn't expect to find all the corpses were gone and grave with tombstones made a line in front of the mansion. It was not appropriate enough to call it a grave, but still better than nothing nevertheless.
Then he found the young man—again—standing in front of the graves with an empty expression. Alberu had seen thousands of times how humans would react when the ones they love died. Cry, grief, sadness, all of it is always expressed on their faces. But the man was just standing still. His suit and hands were full of dirt and blood. It looked like the young man buried several corpses by himself.
Something more unexpected, the young man looked towards him when Alberu was in the state where no one could see him except his own kind. Cale was expressionless when he clearly said, "You are here again."
It caught Alberu off guard at first, but he then let himself be seen while giving the man a wide smile. He didn't know why, but his mouth just came out with sentences that are really different from the reason why he came back here before, "Will you stay here or do you want to come to my place?"
It was not something so drastically different for Alberu to have a housemate though since he lives in a big place. He let Cale sleep in the room on the first floor since he barely used it and all his stuff was on the second floor. Although it's surprising too that Cale just agreed with his sudden ask to come to his place, Alberu thought it was because Cale needed a place where he could forget what had happened. Far away from the place that has now become a graveyard for his family.
Cale rarely goes out of his room. Alberu thought he had a different way to express his griefness. Sometimes Alberu will check him out just in case something happens and most of the time he finds Cale sleeping for a long period of time. It was intriguing to observe since usually humans who just become vampires would go wild while craving for blood. But in his case, Alberu never saw Cale going wild and drinking blood since he got infected. Without Alberu even realizing, he will seek Cale's presence from time to time so he can observe him.
One day, Cale looked so weak and sick. It's known that vampires have pale skin, but that time it looks worse. His breath was heavy and he sweated so much. Alberu found this just because he came to observe Cale again in his room. Cale never complained or said he was hurt.
Alberu thought maybe that was happened because Cale suppressed his instinct to drink blood even if vampires needed that to life, especially him, who was not a vampire from the beginning. They barely had a conversation with each other, but Alberu found himself worried about Cale's situation.
It's impossible to bring someone so Cale could drink their blood since Alberu couldn't harm just any creatures as an Angel, and he knew Cale himself wouldn't want to hurt somebody only to his own accord. Alberu then remembered the human he just sent to the underworld after getting attacked by a beast in the forest. He brought some of the blood from the human to Cale. Bloid from the death body isn't the best blood for vampires, but still better than nothing.
"Drink this." Cale barely opened his eyes to see a glass of blood shoved to his face, but he quickly shook his head. Alberu sighed and helped Cale to sit in his bed properly, "I get this from a human who just died. No one gets hurt, so just drink this if you still want to live."
Cale drinks the blood and gets better after a few hours. Since then Alberu will bring a portion of human blood that just died to give it to Cale. Not often, just so Cale doesn't fall sick like before. But there is nothing like compromise or a deal. Sometimes Alberu finds himself weird if it comes to something related to Cale.
Cale too found this weird and one day asked him why Alberu did this for him when they sat opposite to each other in Cale's room. (After the event, Alberu finds Cale always spacing out while sitting on the couch when he isn't sleeping. Alberu took the initiative to talk to him first, and now it's like their activity to have a few conversations going on once in a while after Alberu takes care of his duty as an angel).
Alberu couldn't answer Cale immediately since he didn't know the answer either. He laments why he brought someone to his house even if it's nothing like pity or sympathy. He knew a lot worse tragedy than the one Cale experienced, but he had never done this thing he did to Cale until now. He just did it. Alberu couldn't find any better answers. So that is his answer.
Alberu awkwardly scratches his cheek after Cale giving him long stare, he decided to approaching Cale and gives him a light pat in the head a few times before said, "Well, it just happened, so don't need to think about it too hard. Just remember what I did for you and pay me back later." Cale stared at him with a clueless expression and made him sigh. "For now, just stay healthy and live long, so we can have more conversation, alright?"
Maybe that's it. As a creature whose what he is doing and the purpose in his life has already been decided before he even lives, he just wants to feel and do what others do. Especially humans that he always observe. Talking with others, having conversations that aren't related to his duty, and maybe… a friend.
Alberu is getting goosebumps because of his own thoughts. It was the cringiest line he ever thought in his life up until now. He never imagined that the day he could think such sentimental words would come after thousands of years of his life.
But strangely enough, the feeling he felt after realizing he might have someone he could call a friend was more pleasant than he ever thought it would be.
long live the king
pairing: mage!hueningkai x noble!reader
tags: fluff, royalty au, friends to lovers, hueningkai can do magic
word count: 3.3k
prompts:
011: "May I have this dance?"
019: "I don't think anyone could ever be as lovely as you."
020: "You look incredible in that."
Tonight had been advertised as the night to end all nights— a masquerade ball held by the king at the palace, and a brightly lit ballroom decorated with gold and the continent's finest silk, adorning the kingdom's rose insignia. Entertainers and musicians positioned around the vicinity to perform their best acts and tunes, and the gates were left wide open to welcome everyone who wanted to join in, given that they tried their best to dress for the occasion.
Today was an event open to all the kingdom's citizens, from high seated nobles to common men by the streets, everyone was welcome to participate in the king's annual ball. However, that fact didn't matter for a family such as yours. Your father was the Marquess, which meant that you were invited to every single ball or gathering held by the nobility for the nobility. At least, that was how it had been until the incident.
The peering eyes of both the nobles and commoners alike have left you frozen on your spot by the pillar. Your bright red ball gown, although beautiful, was not helping you hide away from the eyes of the crowd. It was evident they were all thinking the same thing.
The unfortunate daughter of a fallen marquess.
News had gotten out about your family's crisis and had spread to the public like a disease. The Grand Marquess losing money, property, and power: The fall of a great noble. The story made headlines for weeks on end— rumors mixing in with the truth, and eventually, everyone had drawn the same conclusion. Pitiful.
You worry about your parents at the other end of the room, doing their best to mingle with the other nobles. The heavy atmosphere was weighing down on your chest.
Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath, you try to think of the things that calmed you down: the rustic smell of old books at the public library, the warm feeling you'd get when the rays of sunlight touch your skin as you sit by the window with your face buried deep into your favorite classic, the bright smile the common mage boy would give you everytime you crossed paths—
"Wow."
A familiar voice brings you back from your thoughts.
"You look incredible in that." The same bright smile you'd envisioned earlier now stood in front of you.
You gaze in awe at the man before you, dressed in what you could only describe as the most beautiful and elegant ensemble you'd seen tonight. The way the white suit hugged his waist left little room for the imagination. You doubt even the king himself could top this off.
"Lady Y/N. I believe fate must have brought us together in this fine evening." The man gently bends down, taking your hand and planting a kiss so fleeting that you barely felt it. Even with the golden mask on, you could easily tell who it was.
"Kai.."
"Ah, and here I was hoping I'd be a little more mysterious tonight." Kai holds back his laughter as he gazed upon you once more. You can't help but do the same.
Tonight, he looked nothing of a common mage but that of a king himself. If you hadn't known him beforehand, you would've mistaken him as so, especially with tonight's main event— the reveal of the king's successor. But alas, what the mage boy had going on for him was merely for appearances. A commoner like him could never be king in a world where even dreaming of becoming one was considered to be of highest absurdity.
"I thought you said you weren't attending?"
Kai shrugs, folding his hands behind his back. "And refuse my lady when you so graciously asked me out?"
His response catches you off guard. "I don't recall ever asking you anything of that sort."
"You asked if I'd attend."
"And that counts as asking you out?"
Kai chuckles. "When you asked me with such a cute look on your face, it was difficult to think you weren't looking forward to me being here."
And he was right. Given your circumstances, Kai being here with you was like a breath of fresh air. You'd been praying all night that he'd magically arrive to help you take your mind off of things, and you felt like crying out in joy when he actually did.
Kai looks around, seemingly getting a sense of the pressure you were in. "Shall we take a stroll around the garden, my lady?"
You follow his line of sight and spot the royal garden just outside the window. "I'll let you accompany me if you drop the whole my lady business."
Kai purses his lips as he takes your hand in his. "Can't you let me be fancy for one night?"
Every moment you'd spent with Kai up until this point had been the highlight of your days. As the daughter of the Marquess, you'd spent most of your time holed up inside your manor. Women barely got any education aside from the usual classes on manners and societal etiquette, and that included nobles as well. But that never stopped you. Once a week, when the guards changed shifts by the gate, and the maids and butlers were all busy with the weekly general cleaning, you'd take the opportunity to slip out in disguise, undetected by anyone. The main goal was to get to the public library and obtain access to educational material— ones that didn't involve any prim and proper rubbish that you've read over a thousand times.
The first time outside was rather difficult. You barely managed to get inside the library's more educational section while passing as a man. However, every succeeding attempt became easier and easier until coming out in secret and gaining access didn't seem like that much of a hassle anymore.
At the library, you were free to read any book you want, and used this opportunity to brush up on some business and economics as well as some of the basic sciences. You spent the first few months stocking up on knowledge until you felt it fine to relax a little and start reading novels to pass the time without the help of a disguise.
There was a section in the library that you hadn't checked; one that you'd deemed unnecessary as it only contained children's literature. It wasn't until you'd heard the sound of a man's voice followed by children's laughter that you felt compelled enough to take a peek.
"And then, the dragon swooped down onto the village and attacked the innocent villagers! ROARRR. Breathing fire as hot as, well, uh— FIRE!"
You slipped up and giggled at the young man's amusing narration, piping down a bit after realizing that he had noticed you from behind the shelves, throwing a knowing smirk your way.
It was then that he pulled down his cloak. Wavy brown locks gracefully reaching the back of his neck, bright eyes that could make any person let their guard down— he looked around your age which made you feel more at ease.
The young man steps back, dramatically breathing fire out of his mouth as the children cheered. Some were yelling at him to continue until only smoke came out, and you swore you heard one of them ask if he could make the fire turn green. Ridiculous, you think. But you were no different from these children, only being able to stand there in awe at the young man's trick. Perhaps turning the fire green wasn't such a terrible idea.
You've heard of mages among the commoners before, and had met a few that visited your manor but this was the first time you'd seen one in action. The flames that came out of his mouth looked awfully hot but the young man didn't even blink or showed any signs of pain.
He stops the fire and clears his throat, now kneeling down to face the children. "The villagers were worried sick! What would happen to their crops, their produce, their livelihood? If only a hero would come along and save them!" He makes an overly exaggerated wail before gasping.
"Well, who do we have here? A warrior has come to save the villagers!" The young man points at your direction and you feel your blood run cold as all the children in the room had turned their attention towards you, hopeful.
"A young maiden has arrived to slay the evil dragon!"
You quickly shake your head at his statement, holding your arms out in a cross. "No, kids. Don't believe what this man says. I am not a warrior, and I'm certainly not here to slay any dragons"
The young man raises a brow, getting up from his spot. "Then why do you have the magical sword that was forged to slay the mighty dragon?"
"What sword?"
The young man snaps his fingers. "That sword."
The weight on your hips dip on one side and you couldn't believe your eyes as a sheathed sword had magically manifested beside your waist out of thin air. "How did you— wait, is this a real sword?! You can't play around with real swords in front of children!"
The children turn towards the young man in confusion.
"Well, kids. Do you want the kind lady to slay the dragon with a real sword?"
"YES!" The children cheered.
The young man turns to you with a smile. "You gotta give the kids what they want, Miss."
An exasperated expression makes its way to your face. "I am not slaying any made up dragons!"
"Now, what's all this talk about slaying dragons?"
Taehyun, one of the stricter librarians, had come out of nowhere, surprising everyone. His eyes scan the room and quickly notices three things: (1) the dangerous sword hanging on your waist, (2) the excessive amount of children in the room when the sign on the way in definitely mentioned a capacity of only five, and (3) someone let the mage boy inside the library again. The culprit was evident.
"Jung Kai, I swear to the heavens I will—"
"Alright kids, time to go! We'll end the story next time!" The young man, Kai, rushes the disappointed children out of the section before they heard something they shouldn't.
You were about to walk away yourself but was quickly stopped by Taehyun's hand blocking your path. "Kai, didn't I tell you that you're not allowed to perform magic inside the library? And seriously," He confiscates the sword on your waist, holding it up in the air. "Violence?"
Kai looks at you and grins. "I suppose we could've gone with a more romantic ending. Something like the warrior's kiss saving the dragon from his curse, and he turns back into this super handsome, super cute, and super macho mage."
The way he shamelessly described himself left you speechless, and you steal a glance at the librarian who looked as equally disgusted as you are.
"Just clean up the mess before you leave. And that means you too, Miss Dragon Slayer."
"But I didn't even—" You cut yourself off after Taehyun dismisses himself from the room.
The section falls silent and Kai walks up to you, a smile ever present in his face. "I'm guessing this is the start of our new friendship?"
And that was what started it all. Everytime you'd visit the library after that, you seemed to bump into Kai more often than you liked. He saw through the disguise the first time he saw you wearing it and had promised to not utter a single word to anyone. The mage boy was much more reliable than he seemed to be, often helping you in your studies and teaching you more than the books ever could. Sometimes, he'd convince you to take a stroll around town and had shown you sights and wonders you wouldn't have expected to see inside the kingdom.
Before you knew it, Kai had become someone you'd cherished, and someone whose company you genuinely appreciated. He was patient and understanding as your makeshift mentor, and was this fun and outgoing guy whenever you two were out together. Kai became the first friend you'd made on your own regardless of status and the only friend you wished to keep by your side.
"I take it that the people in the ballroom were too much?" Kai speaks the moment arrived at the garden.
"Please. I couldn't even breathe in there." You play it off with a chuckle but thoughts of worry still plague your mind. "I'm guessing you probably know by now."
"About what? The fact that you're the daughter of the Marquess or that the Marquess has been in a crisis for a while?"
"Both."
Kai reaches for your hand, holding it reassuringly. "I've known for a while but that doesn't change anything now, does it? We became friends without the burden of our status, and we'll stay as friends regardless."
You hated this, hated how he always knew exactly what to say. The heat rushes up to your face and you squeeze his hand tighter, avoiding eye contact. "Thank you."
But truthfully, there was a little voice in Kai's head that wished you could be something more. Not after you'd shared those intimate moments alone at the library at dusk, not after he rushed in to catch you in his arms when you fell while shelving a book on the top shelves, and especially not after you almost shared a kiss after saying goodbye that night he'd helped you sneak back in.
Even now, as he lovingly gazed at your silhouette beneath the moonlight, he'd hoped that he'd have the chance to tell you how he felt. But then again, the chance could be right now at this very moment. The two of you were, afterall, at the king's ball.
"So, how were the gentlemen earlier?"
"What?" You raise your head to face Kai.
"I've no doubt that hundreds of people had been lining up to dance with you all evening." Kai grins as he gently lets go of your hand.
"Please, I haven't danced at all tonight."
"I find that quite hard to believe."
You sigh, recalling the events from earlier. "No one would want to be seen dancing with a fallen Marquess' daughter now would they?"
"Not when you look this beautiful?" Kai jokingly walks around you and you shy away from his gaze.
"You know I never say things I don't mean, Y/N." Kai bends down and holds your hands in his. "And believe me, I don't think anyone could ever be as lovely as you."
"Is flattery your main personality trait now?" You say as an attempt to not let his compliment affect you any further than it should but fail miserably so.
Kai stands before you with an unreadable expression. You'd argue this was the most serious look he's ever had since you'd met him.
"Care to dance?" Kai asks, leaning in closer, your faces merely inches apart. You feel your heart beating loudly in your chest, and you're almost afraid he might hear.
The moonlight casts a shadow on Kai's face, and despite the darkness, his eyes glistened, reflecting your own as you stared into his. You've never seen anyone look so beautiful. And here he was, telling you that you're the loveliest person he's ever known.
"Right now?"
Kai nods, taking off his mask and tossing it over to the side. "And I'd like it if we could dance without our masks too. I've been wanting to get a good look at your face all night."
You chuckle, removing your mask and tossing it to to the ground next to his. "And how do you suppose we dance without music? My reputation's already dirt at this point and I do not want to be branded as the crazy noble dancing at the royal garden in complete silence."
Kai fails to suppress his laughter, holding on to your shoulder to maintain himself upright. "Well, I wouldn't want to let my dear lady look crazy now would I?"
"And what are you planning to do?"
"Well, I am a mage." Kai smirks as he manifests a scepter out of thin air, leaving a trail of golden dust flurrying down.
This was the first time you've ever seen it in person. Kai had mentioned how he needed the aid of his scepter to perform high level magic, but he'd never taken it out in front of you until now. One look at the scepter and anyone could tell not just any old mage owned the darn thing. It looked majestic by all means, intricately decorated with gold and topped off with a brightly colored red gemstone you couldn't seem to identify. You'd heard that mages often created their own unique gemstones as a manifestation of their mana but for Kai's to be red, which had been said to be a quite powerful variant, made you wonder just how powerful your friend had been.
"And here we go." Kai takes the scepter in his hand and drives it into the ground. The impact causes a wave of light to burst from the scepter and spread throughout the reaches of garden. In a split-second, the wave of light rushes back into its source, compressing into a huge orb of light lifting up into the sky, rivaling the moon with its glow. The orb splits into smaller pieces and starts to dance around the garden, leaving you in awe at the spectacle.
Kai finds himself grinning from ear to ear at your reaction. He'd studied magic as an expression of rebellion against his father but now, he'd found another purpose to perform these little tricks of his. He places his hand on your waist and pulls you closer. "Wait for it."
The orbs of light find their places around you, slowly taking the shape of various instruments you've seen inside the ballroom, from strings to percussions, and even wind instruments. Smaller pieces of light continued to hover the surroundings, resembling glowing fireflies in the dark.
"Kai, this is beautiful." You look up at the young man, and he steps away, bowing his head as he plants yet another kiss on the back of your hand.
"May I have this dance?"
His eyes meet yours and you feel your heart skip a beat. It was rather difficult to explain. The Kai in front of you right now had been the same Kai you've always known, but somehow.. different.
You raise your hand for him to take, guiding your other hand to find perch on his shoulder, and his finding its place on your waist. With the first step, the instruments started playing. It's a piece you've heard before, one that Kai had fondly hummed nearly everytime you were together at the library.
It was as if the world had faded into the distance, and at this moment, there was only you and him, dancing alone in the garden. He pulls you close, his hold gentle and warm. Kai spins you around. The heel of your shoe collides with a rock, and you nearly stumble back until Kai manages to grab you by the waist on time, pulling you back into his arms.
You spot the smirk on his face under the moonlight, and you press a finger against his lips. "Not one word."
"I wasn't going to say anything." Kai lets you go, and you quickly grab a hold of his arms to find balance.
"Of course you weren't."
"Well, I do have something I have to tell you. A few things, actually."
You cock a brow at him, and he steps forward. "I'll tell you the most important part first."
"And that is?"
Kai reaches out to cup your cheeks, gazing into your eyes as if asking permission. You didn't need to say anything for him to understand, and he closes the gap between you, pressing his lips against yours. The feeling was foreign but certainly welcome, and you soon close your eyes and reciprocate, wanting to feel more of his soft lips, and wanting to hold him closer and closer.
For long had you held out on this, on actually acknowledging your growing feelings for the lad in fear of having to live with the thought of him not feeling the same. But in this moment, you felt a heavy burden being lifted from your shoulders.
"Kai, I.."
The light from the orbs dim down and soon dissipates. Kai pulls away, gazing upon your flushed face. "You mean the world to me, Y/N. I don't think my life would ever be the same without you."
The trumpets blare in the ballroom, a signal that the new king was to make an appearance soon. You feel Kai's hand around yours. "As for my other confession, I think it's best we head back first."
He leads you back into the ballroom, and disappears the moment you find your parents in the crowd. You join them in the center as everyone gathers to get a glimpse at the new king.
The herald makes his way beside the grand staircase, straightening himself up to make the announcement that every citizen had been waiting to hear all evening.
"Presenting the next in line to the throne, to rule the vast lands of our esteemed nation, and lead us into a continuing era of prosperity! Our future King, His Royal Highness, Kai Kamal Huening!"
The doors open, revealing Kai, your Kai, adorned in the royal family's crest, robes, and jewelries as he made himself known to his loyal subjects.
Behind him was public librarian, Kang Taehyun, who had been revealed to be serving as one oc the King's advisors, and now, for the new monarch.
"Long live the King!"
Kai could pick out your from the crowd in a heartbeat, hos gaze meeting yours as he flashes you his signature smile. You couldn't believe what was happening— Kai, your best friend in the whole world, had just confessed his love to you. And now, that same Kai had revealed to you and to the public that he had been the future ruler of the country all along. The crowds cheered.
"Long live the King!"
"Long live the King." You whisper to yourself, wondering what the future has in store for you.
@fictober-event 2021 | Fandom: The Blacklist - Lizzington
Day 10: "It's so quiet" | Rating: G | Warnings: none
"Hello?" Lizzie picked up the phone on the first ring, seeing Nick's Pizza light up the screen.
"Hi Lizzie."
"Hi." She tried to keep her voice neutral, but wasn't sure if she was succeeding. If anything, she probably sounded surprised. It was about six-fifteen in the morning, and she wasn't expecting any calls. Certainly not from Raymond Reddington.
She heard him clear his throat across the line.
"How are you? I didn't wake you up, did I?"
"I was already up. I'm fine, I guess. Is... everything alright with you? Did Cooper ask you to call me about the case?"
"No, Lizzie," his voice replied, with a slight smile she was certain she could sense. "Harold didn't ask me to call you."
"Well...?" She said, curiously.
"I just... wanted to talk to someone. I'm alone here right now and... it's so quiet."
He wanted to talk to someone? Her?
"Okay, we can talk. Um, are you allowed to say where you are? Or is that somehow classified, even from the FBI?"
"From the FBI, yes. But from you, Lizzie...?" He paused. "I'm in Colombia. Bogota."
She raised her eyebrows, then realizing he couldn't see that, replied:
"Colombia? Have you been there before?"
"Yes. Several times in fact."
"Do you like it?"
"I like... parts of it. And you? What are you going to do today, Lizzie?"
She considered. It was a Saturday, and she had been planning a day of house cleaning and perhaps a browse of her favourite bookstore.
"I'm going out for a run, actually. After we get off the phone."
"Ah. I can let you go-" he began, but she cut him off quicker than she even realized she was doing it.
"No need, I have time."
"So. A run, and then ...?"
She smiled.
"Are you interviewing me for the local news, or...? Why this interest in my schedule?"
He paused again, and she wondered if there was some motivation he wasn't confiding in her about. But, if there was, what would it even be?
"No reason," he replied, but suddenly it occurred to her that maybe he meant: I miss you.
Now it was her turn to pause for a long moment. She chose her next words carefully.
"Red. When you get back, do you want-..." but she trailed off, losing her nerve at the last second. "It's very quiet here too, actually," she finished off, lamely.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your morning," he said, then, a bit sadly it seemed.
"No, I'm- it's nice to hear from you. To hear you, actually," she said, suddenly brave again.
No response. She imagined him reacting with that characteristic tilt of his head.
"What I mean is, I'm glad you called. I think I've... missed talking to you," she admitted.
"Ah." Just that. His voice was less sad, though.
"When you get back," she started again, determined to finish this time, "Do you want to come and have breakfast with me sometime? I'll cook. It'll be omelettes, because I know I won't mess them up," she added quickly, in case he was worried about that.
"I do. I'd like that, Lizzie."
So would she, she realized.
"Okay. Me too."
"I'll bring some pastries with me, just in case," he added, and she laughed.
"Fine. I look forward to proving my omelette making skills."
"Goodbye, Lizzie."
"Bye, Red."
Our Stars Collided- Part 1
THIS IS THE SURPRISE IM WRITING A JATP SERIES AND IM SO EXCITED. This first one kinda sucks at first, but I swear it gets better the more you get into it.
Words: 2.1k
Summary: The reader has been wondering who the phantoms in the band are. But when she comes face to face with a phantom will she get her answers? (This does not follow all the events of the series)
Pairing: Luke x reader
Warnings: none, except bad writing
...........................................
You had lunch this period, you were one track minded in that moment, and b-lining for the cafeteria. But as you passed the lockers your half run nearly turned to a stop.
You had made eye contact with none other than the cute boy from Julie's hologram band. Except every single person in the hallway was acting like they couldn't see him. Which in their defense, they probably couldn't, you were probably going insane.
According to Julie they were holograms. But when everyone else had gasped in shock that they had suddenly disappeared, you continued to watch them. And yet no one else noticed. From that moment on you were convinced yourself that it had been a figment of your imagination. Until now, that was.
You figured it might raise suspicion if you continued staring into what everyone else believed to be nothing. So you hid behind a pole and watched.
Julie seemed to be just talking on the phone to everyone else. But you watched as she continued on her conversation with the supposed hologram. Their conversation wasn't anything interesting, it seemed to just be about what song they were playing in a few weeks; and the boy apologized for being somewhat difficult to work with. As you watched, another sophomore, named Nick approached. You peeked around the pole to see where the boy went and saw that he was staring right at you.
You flew back behind your hiding place. You felt your pulse quickening though you weren't sure if it was because you were afraid he'd seen you or for a different reason entirely.
After you'd calmed yourself down you opened your eyes, you saw the boy standing right in front of you, only a couple feet away. You clapped a hand over your mouth to keep yourself from screaming.
Wait, you can see me?" the boy asked. He sounded just as freaked out as you felt.
You nodded your head, with your hand still on your mouth.
The boy's eyes went wide for a moment. But then he looked like he was deep in thought. "Why can you see me?" he asked curiously.
Your expression went blank for a moment. How could you answer a question you didn't even know? Also did someone give you drugs, or was this actually happening?
"I have no idea, also are you even real?" You asked. You reached out to poke his shoulder, and you felt nothing. "Nope, I'm definitely imagining this," you said aloud to yourself.
You turned and started to walk away. "Wait!" the boy yelled.
"Yes, imaginary person who I have probably made up in my head?" you asked.
He talked as he walked to catch up with you. "I'm real, I'm very, very real. I'm just also dead."
You crossed your arms and faced him. "So you're a ghost?" you asked.
"Yes."
You crossed your arms. "So prove it, how do I know you're not a figment of my imagination?"
The boy paused for a moment to think. "Umm I know there's a student named Julie that goes here and she has fourth period dance class, and you probably don't know that, so how would a figment of your imagination know that?" After finishing his trail of thought the boy looked over at you with a hopeful smile.
You thought over it for a moment which was mildly difficult with that face looking at you. "Yeah, okay, that adds up I suppose." His smile turned into a slight smugness that he had convinced you.
"See, I told you I was real."
You pushed down the heat attempting to rise to your cheeks.
"But how?" you asked.
"Wellllllllll that's a little bit more of a complicated question," Luke explained, as he itched the back of his head.
Somehow, you were still getting more confused. "How is it complicated?"
"That's kinda a long story. But, I can explain some of it," he offered.
You gestured to him that the floor was his.
"Oh, not right now because I'm pretty sure I've made like at least five people think you're crazy already." He gestured around to people at their lockers who were staring at you.
"But I can tell you later, if you meet me at Julie's house, after school," he promised.
"Okay, yeah, I'm not doing anything, and I've been there before so I know where it is," you agreed.
"Cool! I never caught your name by the way," he mentioned.
"Oh it's y/n, and you are?"
"Luke, and I'll see you then!" He waved at you and in a poof he was gone.
It was definitely not a normal way to start your lunch. But you supposed that from the day that they had performed your life hadn't been normal.
Three hours later you found yourself standing in front of Julie Molina's house. You were silently hoping that this was the right house, because that would be a very interesting conversation if it wasn't. Luckily enough, Julie was the one who opened the door.
"Hi, um I'm here to see Luke?" you hesitantly asked.
"Oh yeah, he told me about you, come on I’ll show you where he is.” She closed the door and started leading you through a garden, as you tried not to read too deeply into what she had said. Eventually, you walked down a set of steps to some sort of studio. As she opened the wide white entrance doors you saw all three of the guys you had watched play with Julie a week ago.
You stood in shock for a moment. So you hadn’t been seeing things! You only came back to reality when you heard Julie say your name.
“Meet Reggie, Alex, and you already met Luke. So Reggie and Alex, meet y/n,” she introduced.
“Hello!” Reggie waved.
“Hi,” said Alex.
“Hi,” you responded.
“So now is your time to ask questions without someone thinking you are going insane,” Luke offered, as he sat down on a couch.
“Okay, so you guys are ghosts, right?”
The three all nodded their heads.
“But for some reason Julie and I can see you?” you observed.
“Yes, but we don’t actually know the reason for that. Or to a lot of things for that matter. But we think it might mean that you two are related to our pasts in some sort of way,” the one you remembered to be Alex, suggested.
“Okay, interesting. Do you know why people can see you when you play?” you inquired.
“No, I mean we think it’s because we are connected to Julie and that we are still connected with music, but other than that we have no idea,” Luke said.
You continued asking them questions for quite some time, until you couldn’t think of anything anymore. Granted, there was still a lot you didn’t know, but that was fine with you. Afterall, asking someone how they died felt a little too personal; even if they did make you think you were losing your mind for a week straight.
Eventually your conversation diverged into other matters like school, and music, and of course food.
“You play the guitar?” Luke asked in surprise.
You turned to him from a conversation you were having with Alex. “I mean, I’m not as good as you, but yes,” you admitted.
“Wait, you play guitar TOO?” Reggie asked in awe.
You had to laugh at the sudden fascination with you. “Yes, I do.”
Reggie seemed to be ecstatic. “You have to play something; here, use Luke’s guitar,” he offered.
Alex lightly slapped his arm and you watched the corner of your eye as Luke muttered something along the lines of what the hell Reggie.
“It’s okay, I don’t wanna steal someone else’s equipment, and I usually only play in my room by myself. Besides, you probably don’t wanna hear me anyways,” you pointed out.
“You don’t have to play, but that’s b.s. I’ve heard you’d play and you’re obviously talented,” Julie chimed in. You were slightly embarrassed but you accepted the compliment. Soon enough your conversation died down and it was decided that you should probably head back home as it was getting late. You waved goodbye to the boys and told Julie you would see her tomorrow.
As you ate supper, you realized that even though you had one of the most eventful days in history you could tell no one about it, including your family. Otherwise they would think you were just as insane as you thought you were. But you supposed there were worse problems to have then knowing a band that you couldn’t talk about.
As you got ready for bed you decided to bring out your acoustic guitar.
You started strumming before realizing there was a particular song you hadn’t played in a long while. It took you a couple attempts to remember the fingering for it, but once you did the music started to flow out of you.
“When the rain is blowing in your face, and the whole world is on your case. I could offer you a warm embrace to make you feel my love.”
You then jumped to the melody at a higher octave. You decided to go all out and sing it to your heart's content.
“I know you haven’t made your mind up yet, but I would never do you wrong. I’ve known it from the moment that we met. No doubt in my mind where you belong.”
You strummed a couple more chords before placing your guitar down. You turned around and came inches away from Luke’s face.
“Shit!” you yelled on instinct. You paused for a moment to make sure no one had heard you, but you didn’t hear anything.
“What are you two doing here?” you hissed.
Reggie was the first to open his mouth. “Well uh you see here, we actually have a very good reason for being here. Yep, and Luke’s going to tell you that reason.” He clapped his bandmate on the shoulder, and Luke glared at him.
“Y/n I’m really sorry, but he really wanted to hear you play. And I was super curious too, and we just couldn’t resist,” Luke apologized.
You took a look at them still wanting to be mad, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. They looked not unlike sad puppies.
You fake sighed, but you couldn’t fight the smile on your face. “I guess I can let you guys off the hook this time.”
“I swear it won’t happen again,” Reggie promised.
“Next time just knock instead of scaring the shit out of me, okay?” you asked.
“You got it, though I can’t say we won’t scare you. I mean we are ghosts,” Luke teased, with a glint in his eyes that you couldn’t figure out.
You amusedly rolled your eyes at him, “Whatever, Luke.”
The next day you couldn’t really focus on your clases. All you could think about were theories on why you could see Alex, Reggie, and Luke and why everyone else couldn’t. By the time lunch rolled around you were very thankful Julie was in the same lunch period as you.
“Hey!” she greeted you.
“What’s up?” you asked, shutting your locker.
“Just something I want to show you, follow me,” she gestured. You didn’t know where she was taking you but you just shrugged and went with it. She led you over to the next set of lockers and down a set of steps to a pretty much vacant part of the school. And once you turned the corner you heard a very loud ‘surprise!’
“Aeeehp!” you yelled in shock.
“Oh my god, you guys have got to stop doing that,” you said to the three.
“Yeah, they never do,” Julie sighed.
“But anyways, we brought you down here to tell you, drumroll please?” Julie requested.
They all started stomping their feet.
“We want you to join Julie and the Phantoms!” Alex announced.
“Wait, what?” you excitedly asked.
“Well after the little stunt that Luke and Reggie pulled, which I do not approve of by the way,” she sent a glare back at the two of them, “we had a band meeting and decided that we want you in the band, that is of course if you want to be in the band?”
You were positively beaming. “Yes of course I do! But what do you want me to do? You already have two singers and an electric guitarist.”
“Well we always have room for more singing, and I’m just lead guitar. We used to have three guitars in sunset curve, so why not in Julie and the Phantoms?” Luke questioned.
“I’m game if you guys are.”
“So you’re in?” Reggie asked.
You smiled brightly, “I’m so in.”
The Mission // Spencer Reid x Reader
Sooooo this was SUPPOSE to be a blurb for @andiebeaword BUT it ended up being much longer than that, my bad.
Summary - Spencer and Reader must act like a married couple at a party in order to get information on a hitman. They may do more than needed to prove being a married couple.
Word count - 2.7k
Prompts - "If we die, I'm going to kill you." ~~~ "You have a dirty mind." ~~~ "These heels are peeling off my **skin**. But yes, keep complaining about your tag you whine ass." ~~~ "Wow, I can't imagine being that rich! How old are his kids, maybe I can date one."
It was a well-known fact that I loved partnering with Spencer. We could always joke around and make eachother feel better, even when working the bad cases. But I feel like this was a little ridiculous.
"Are you shitting me?" The words slipped from my mouth so easily, which I immediatly regretted. Spencer gave me *the look* and elbowed my side.
"I'm sorry Y/n, you and Spencer are the two people who are the most compatible to seem like a couple, and we need hard proof before we arrest him." Hotch explained with his usual amount of enthusiasm.
None.
"Hotch, this guy is dangerous and we will be in there without vests, is what I believe y/n is trying to say." Spencer leaned back in his seat, flipping through the mans file.
"We will have sharp-shooters pointing through every window at him in case anything gets out of hand. This is non negotiable." And with that, he left.
"Well, clearly we have no choice." I stood from my seat, flattening my skirt. "I'm gonna go home and get an outfit ready. You aren't wearing that to the party either." I pointed to his outfit.
"What's wrong with my outfit?!" He scoffed, hugging his sweater vest.
"Okay, one, this isn't some dingy hole in the wall. And two, even if it was, you don't go to a nice party looking like someone who has 3 PhD's in the first place." The smirk on my lips grew wider as he feigned offense.
"Fine, I'll find something nicer to wear. I'll pick you up at 7 and tell the team to meet us there." I agreed and left the conference room a little grumpy, quickly making a bee line to the elevator before anyone could comment on my mood.
-
I stared at the 3 dresses in front of me. They were all the same style, but different colors.
White, yellow, and olive green.
I wasn't sure why I was having so much trouble picking a *color*. I always say that I dress for myself, which is what I was trying to do right now.
Right?
I totally wasn't thinking back to that conversation I had with Spencer a few weeks ago.
-
*"Y/n!" Emily looked at me with surprise. "You look so beautiful in white! Why don't you wear it more?" She was right, I never wore it. Me and Penelope were pretty known for wearing many colors, mine just had to be paired with a black skirt.*
*"I'm so clumsy." I laughed. "I live in constant fear that I'll spill coffee on it. Hence why I'm not holding a cup of joe."*
*"I agree with Emily, you look nice in white." Spencer chimed in. "You know the psychological meaning of white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. In color psychology, white is the color of new beginnings, of wiping the slate clean, so to speak." He then took a sip of his coffee.*
*"Yeah well I don't know about the innocent part." I giggled, looking to Emily who gave me a shrug and nod. Spencer choked a bit on his coffee. "You alright there Spence?" He saluted me and headed to his desk, which put me and Emily into a fit of giggles.*
-
I reluctantly grabbed the white one, silently hoping that I was less of a klutz tonight.
The satin dress slipped on me easily. It came down to about 2 or so inches above my knees and had thin straps. I paired it with some semi-transparent heels and called it a day. I put on a little heavier makeup to look the part. Foundation, winged eyeliner, blush, highlight, and mascara. Lastly, I tied my hair up in a simple straightened pony-tail.
By the time my indecisive ass was done choosing everything, it was nearly 7 and I knew that Spence would be early. My heels clicked as I walked on my wood floors, heading to the front door. Getting there just in time to hear a knock. I must have startled him by opening it so fast because he stumbled back a bit. He wore a nice white button up and tighter pants than usual, paired with nice black oxfords.
And then he just stood there.
I waved my hand in front of his face.
"Hi!" He shook his head a bit. "Hello there, back to Earth I see. Do you wanna come in and have a glass of water before this whole event, since you are," I leaned back into my doorway to look at the time. "12 minutes early?"
"Oh, yeah sure." I cleared the way so he could walk in. I shook the heels from my feet, taking me down at least three inches before stepping into the kitchen. I grabbed two glasses.
"Do you want ice?" I turned to him, he was sitting at my island. He just shook his head. "Okay." I laughed, putting ice in mine and just filling his with water. The glass clinked as it hit the island in front of him. "You're pretty quiet, are you okay?" The tips of his ears reddened.
"Yeah! I'm just a little nervous, you?" He swiftly brought the water to his lips, guzzling it down like he hadn't drank anything in days. He then stood up.
"Of course I'm nervous." I came around to his side of the counter and swooned into his arms. "But I'll have a great protector there." He smiled down at me with a shake of his head, standing me back up.
Now it's time to head out.
-
We pulled up to the location in Spencer's Volvo, which was incredibly nice to ride in. ~~and I would love to get use to riding in it~~.
"Okay, I have one thing to fix with your outfit." I turned to him before we exited the car. His eyes narrowed at this comment. I leaned forward and unbuttoned two buttons. "Now you look like your going to a party."
"Thank you expert. Stay in the car, I'm going to open your door, the bouncer works with him and we have to go all out on this act." He nodded his head at the bouncer a few yards away.
I wish this wasn't an act.
He opened the door, offering his hand. I took it with a gracious smile, interlacing our fingers. We walked up to the bouncer, who had an ipad with the guest list in hand. Penelope had hacked into their list and added our names, well fake names.
"Mr and Mrs. Adler." Spencer spoke as I leaned into his side. The man scrolled through the list, he tapped our names and opened the door.
It opened to a large room, filled with dozens of people. I leaned up on my tippy toes and whispered into Spencer's ear.
"If we die, I'm going to kill you." I pulled away with a smile, patting his shoulder. His Adam's apple bobbed while he gulped. "So, what's this guys networth, I mean he seems pretty damn rich to throw a party like this." He looked down at me quizzically. "I know you know what it is, I'm sure you have researched him extensively. So what is it?"
"6.2 million dollars." He recited, looking towards the crowd, scanning for the man in question.
"Wow, I can't imagine being that rich! How old are his kids, maybe I can date one."
"Be careful what you say, someone might think we are suspicious." He pulled me into his side, kissing the top of my head.
This night is going to be agonizing. "There he is." We made our way to him slowly, stopping at small drink stations. Just as we were about to get to some seats near him, a server came up to us.
"Hello! Welcome. Would you guys like anything?" She handed Spencer a very small menu. I could see the slight confusion in his eyes. It was truly a weird thing to do at such a big party.
*Salad*
*Potato Soup*
*Fruit Bowl*
*Veggie Bowl*
"I'll have a salad, and the lady will have a fruit bowl." He pointed to the seats we were on our way to. "We will be over there. Thank you." He put his hand on the small of my back, leading us to the seats.
"How did you know I wanted a fruit bowl?"
"You bring some kind of fruit cup to work every day, I'm observant." Right as we were about to sit down, another couple took the seats, not even noticing that we were heading there.
"Well damn. I say we stand next to his table until our food gets here, then we go to the other corner of the room and observe, then we catch him making the deal." I led him to the space by the table. After just a few minutes of waiting, the young lady who took our orders he returned, holding a small bowl of salad and a fruit bowl.
"Have a good night!" She chimed, how can someone be so happy with so many people around?
We ventured to the other side of the room, I grabbed two glasses of champagne from another server on the way. I peered at Spencer over the skinny glass, he was staring at his salad.
"What, is there something wrong?"
"Why is there so much white stuff on it? It's not ranch, I know what ranch looks like." My giggle was muffled slightly by the glass.
"That's what she said." He raised one eyebrow. Then a look of realization came over his face.
"You have a dirty mind." He mixed together the salad to distribute the 'white stuff'. We subtly stared every once in a while over at the mans table.
His name was Anton Todd, but his customers called him Ton. He was someone who frequently assassinated people. He was a hitman to be exact. We had an outside source tell us that a new customer would be coming in to request business, so we could kill two birds with one stone.
So far the man we knew as Cole Kamargo had not come to ask for Antons *services* yet. We had been standing in this corner of the room for a while, just watching him. That's when I caught his eye.
His gaze was terrifying, it struck me right through my soul, and I just couldn't stop looking. He squinted at me, tilting his head. Spencer shook my shoulder.
"Y/n, stop staring at him." It was like being lost in someone's eyes in the worst way possible. I watched as he stood from the table, making his way over with a sour look on his face.
"Shit shit shit shit." I mumbled as he got closer.
"Shit is right. Do you trust me?" I kept my eyes on the man.
"Of course." He grabbed my hips, pushing me against the wall behind us and kissed me hard. He trailed his left hand up to the back of my neck, holding me there. I gasped in surprise, leading him to slip his tongue in my mouth. Meaning we were full on making out. I pushed my hands into his hair, gladly accepting the kiss and sighing into it. Suddenly, Spencer was pulled from me. And there he stood.
Anton.
"Tell your girl to stop fuckin' staring at me." He spat, glaring at me.
"Sorry sir, my wife has ADHD, she zones out frequently." He rushed to my side and pulled me into his side protectively. Anton rolled his eyes and left the area.
I looked up at Spencer, his cheeks were a deep shade of red, and he was touching his lips.
"Thank you. Also, you're a good kisser." I remarked, nudging his side a bit. He looked down at me with wide eyes. "What? Am I not allowed to compliment your kissing? It's good!" I laughed heartily, looping my arm into his.
"Ditto." A smile grew on his lips. I could get use to this. Spencer noticed an available seat near us, so he sat patting his lap.
"Excuse me?"
"Come sit on my lap!" He chuckled.
"I'm glad your getting use to the idea of me being your *wife*." I sat on his lap, leaning my head back onto his shoulder. My hands made their way to the heel of my foot, slightly slipping my shoe off. "These heels are from Satan I think." I rubbed at the sore skin.
"My tag is itchy." Spencer pulled at his collar, relieving the so called *itch*.
"These heels are peeling off my **skin**. But yes, keep complaining about your tag you whine ass." He turned his head to me, kissing my cheek.
"I'm sorry, I can put some neosporin on it when we get home. I mean, when we get-get you home." He stuttered, the tips of his ears once again turning an extravagant shade of red. I kissed his jaw.
"Thank you *baby*." We were then interrupted by a woman next to us.
"How long have you guys been married?" The lady leaned over the booth, a ring was clearly shown on her finger.
"8 years." I answered quickly, before Spencer could say a contradicting answer.
"Wow! You guys look so young to be together so long. How do you guys keep it so... so beautiful?" She tilted her head at the question.
"What do you mean?" I asked, reaching my hand into Spencer's hair and playing with it momentarily.
"You seem so in love. You act like teenagers, I don't think I've looked that in love with my husband since we first met." She huffed.
"You just have to find someone who's easy to love." He leaned his head on mine. "I've never had a doubt in my mind that she was the one." The words stuck with me, I felt like they would be embedded in my soul for eternity.
"I think I need to get a divorce." She sunk into the seat, I watched as her husband come back and sat with her, she gave him a weak smile.
"Okay, we need to leave this area before we become homewreckers." I whispered, pulling him to his feet and fleeing into another direction. "We must be amazing actors." I laughed nervously.
"Yeah, actors." He murmered, but before I could comment on it, I saw Cole making his way to Anton.
"Spencer! It's Cole!" I screeched quietly. We discreetly made our way near the table, quickly catching the conversation and relaying it to Hotch.
Cole spoke of the horrible things he wanted done to his wife, it made me sick.
"FBI, get on the ground!" I pulled my gun from the left holster that Spencer had for me. I couldn't exactly *hide* a gun on this white dress. Spencer pulled his gun as well.
"We have you surrounded by sharpshooters aimed and ready to fire, so I suggest that you comply." Morgan came in soon, cuffing the both of them and leading the men to cars.
We now remained outside, sitting on the stairs of the large building.
"I enjoyed being your husband for a night." Spencer laughed, nudging my shoulder.
"And I enjoyed being your wife." I played with the fake ring on my finger. "Okay. Fuck it. Did you mean any of the things you said in there?" The words spat from my mouth quickly.
"Like what?" His voice was shaky.
"Like, that you never had a doubt that I was the one. Or was that part of the act. I would totally understand if it was, you're an amazing actor if it was because it honestly had me believing-" He put his finger to my lips.
"Yes, I meant it."
"Thank God." I grabbed his jaw with both hands and brought him to my lips. He smiled into the kiss, deepening it. His hands ran up and down my back slowly.
"I wouldn't mind doing this every day." He remarked, gesturing between our lips.
"I wouldn't either pretty boy."
Blurred Lines
“I like Clarissa.” You say, agreeing with Keanu on his suggestion. You're walking home after your morning walk around the neighborhood, and you have your arm on his, panting a little. Keanu wants it to be a girl, and you want a boy, so there's a little bet going on, but neither of you chose what the prize will be yet. “And if it's a boy I like Henry. A name fit for a king.” Glancing at him, you smile.
“I like it too.”
“Great. But we still have some time.” Week 14 has started, and you're only keeping track of it so perfectly because Keanu has a calendar on the fridge, where he counts the days and weeks. It also helps that the e-book you have tells you everything that's happening at the moment, and you usually read it together at the beginning of the weeks. “But...” You stop by the house, sitting down on the steps that lead to the door. “We need to buy some stuff. Not only baby stuff but some pregnancy stuff too.”
Keanu settles down beside you, handing you the water bottle he was carrying, from which you take a sip. “What is it you need?”
“Uhm... Everything I have is getting a little tight. It'll only get worse with time. And...” Clearing your throat, you blush a little, playing with the bottle. “I need bras. Mine are getting small and my breasts are a bit tender so I can't take them squeezing me anymore.”
“Oh.” He sounds a little embarrassed too, what makes you giggle. “Let's go then.” Offering you a hand, he pulls you back at your feet. “Let's shower and head out.”
“Alright.“ You stand there for a while, and you know it's just because he always lets you get in first. But you decide to tiptoe, stepping closer to place a soft peck on his lips before moving inside.
After washing yourself from the thin layer of sweat from the walk, you put on jeans, comfortable white sneakers, and a pink blouse. Deciding to let your hair down, you make your way downstairs, finding Keanu waiting for you in the living room. “Hope I didn't make you wait for too long.” You say, making your presence known. He stands up from the couch, eyes finding you. “Because I have no excuse.” Gesturing at your clothes, way too simple, you shrug your shoulders.
“You look beautiful.” His words make you blush, and you start making the way to the garage.
Keanu opens the passenger door for you to get inside before walking around the car to take his place. You like that he's a simple man, unlike most of the celebrities out there. He drives his car, does his own stuff. He surprises you every day, and sometimes you even forget he's an actor. A very good one.
As he speeds through the city, you can't help but feel excited. You've been procrastinating for a while, but now you can't wait for it. Your stomach is starting to swell, your baby is growing, and you want to start getting things ready. The accident is turning into a distant memory now, as you allow the pregnancy to be the main event of your life. Because it is. You still have a lot of trips to the hospital every week, and Keanu is as careful and protective as he has been since the beginning, but you feel good. Things are amazing with him, moving at a slow but comfortable pace. And you're happy. Beyond happy.
Keanu's heart has been beating faster ever since they got into the store. It's huge, with several different departments. He intended to let her chose everything since he keeps telling himself over and over again this isn't his child. But the lines are starting to blur in his head, and he caught himself thinking the baby to be his.
“Which one do you like best?” She asks him, standing in between two pale beige cribs. (Y/N) wants to add color on the decoration, and of course, he agreed. “I can't choose.”
It warms his heart that she wants him to participate. But of course she does. To her, he's her husband. “This one.” He says, walking over to the crib on her left. “We'll have it delivered at our place.”
“Great.” And she smiles before turning around and continuing further into the store. But she didn't see the mountain of a man she left behind, holding his breath, eyes focused on her back. (Y/N) was clueless about the war happening inside his heart, constantly. Slowly, Keanu comes back to Earth, signaling at some of the women who work here. He didn't notice she was staring at him, too busy focused on (Y/N).
“I want this crib, please.” He politely says, and the woman quickly types something on her tablet.
“Done, Mr. Reeves.” Of course she knew his name, it didn't surprise him. “Anything else?” Her voice gets softer, like some sort of whine. Was she trying to seduce him? Probably. Keanu is well aware of how some women act around him, but this time, she's nothing to him. Just a speck of dust compared to the woman he's staring at now, peacefully looking at strollers, a hand resting on her belly, which just started to swell.
“Yes.” He says. “Come with me, please. We'll be buying some things today.”
“It'll be my pleasure.” She chants, a smirk on her face that Keanu doesn't even see as he starts making his way over (Y/N).
“This one is the best,” Keanu says, getting (Y/N)'s attention. She quickly looks at him. “I was reading about it.”
“This one it'll be then.” She says, flashing him another smile. (Y/N) is especially happy today. Her eyes leave him for a short while, finding the woman. He gets confused at the expression on her face before she turns away. “I wanted to see some clothes, but since we don't know the sex yet, I don't know what color to pick.”
“We can wait until we know.” He suggests and she nods.
As they move through the store, signaling to the woman everything they want, Keanu quickly noticed (Y/N)'s reaction to the employee following them around. It was only after she snapped at the woman that he noticed it himself, that she was trying to discreetly flirt with him.
“Ke, the doctor said I'll need one of those things.” (Y/N) says in a low voice, shyly gesturing at her breasts.
“A breast pump.” He states. “There's another store on the third floor. Let's check there.” Keanu is done with the woman annoying (Y/N), so he pays up for everything, leaves the address for it to be delivered, and guides (Y/N) outside, to the other store.
It's slightly smaller and more focused on the pregnant woman than on the baby, but they succeeded on buying everything for the baby for now.
She easily finds another woman to help her around, way more kind, thankfully, and, as they talk, Keanu follows then around. He eventually stops by some blankets, wondering if she'd want any of them. After some minutes, he resumes following her, but (Y/N) is gone. Keanu feels embarrassed for a while, having lost her in the store. Walking to the back, he sighs in relief when he finds her, looking at some lingerie. For a moment he wonders if he should interrupt, trying not to think too much about what may be in her head.
Shaking his head lightly, he decides to walk over to her. “Did you like it?” He asks, gesturing at the black and light pink pair of underwear she was starting at.
(Y/N)'s cheeks go red when she looks up at him. “N-no. I mean...” She mutters, letting go of the soft fabric. “...Do you like it?” She sounds uncertain, and it's cute the way her cheeks and neck turn into a reddish color.
Keanu doesn't want to answer. He doesn't want to imagine her in this lingerie, but it's too late now. The image is already burning through his head. He was just about to run from the subject when he remembers the lie he's into. And he is tired of lying. “I did. You'll look wonderful in it, but you don't have to buy it if you don't want and if you do, you don't have to wear it for me.” He couldn't help explaining it further, making sure she doesn't feel weird about it.
(Y/N) turns at the lingerie again, thoughtful. “Just this one.” She finally mumbles. “Mrs. Jackson already helped me chose some bras for the rest of the pregnancy and some for after. You know, those that you can pull down to feed the baby...” She's blushing all over again, and Keanu has to bite back a smile.
They have many bags when they leave the store, and Keanu's heart is filled with joy. He always wanted kids, but he never met the right woman. And let's be honest, time was passing. He only wishes this was real. But nevertheless, he loved doing this. He didn't know, or he pretended he didn't, but he was losing it. He was sinking further and further into the lie he created.
Staring at the big mirror you have on the wall of your bedroom, you check how the bra looks. It's not that bad, super comfortable, and it'll have some space for when your breasts grow more. Because they will according to the doctors. You're just about to walk over the edge of the bed to pick your shirt and put it on when the door opens and Keanu comes in.
You stop on your tracks, freezing, quickly crossing your arms. “I'm sorry, I should've knocked.” Keanu is fast to apologize, moving to leave.
“No, wait.” You burst out, running a hand through your hair. He turns back at you, eyes locked on yours. He's trying not to look, that much is pretty clear. Keanu is... Unbelievable. If you didn't want him at all, he'd never push you, he'd forever keep a distance. Taking a deep breath, you put both hands on your hips. “W-what do you think?” It's a stupid question. The bra is nothing special. Just a gray cotton fabric with thin straps, designed to offer some support. “I know it's super simple but...”
“You look absolutely beautiful.” He answers, slowly walking closer, but eyes are still locked on yours.
“Ke... You can look.” It comes out as a whisper, so you clear your throat. “You can look, I don't mind.”
There's this thing about Keanu, a sensation that only gets more intense. When he's away, you want him near, and when he's standing near, you want him even closer. Shyly, you take his hand, running your fingers through his skin.
Stepping forward, ending the distance in between your bodies, you raise your head to look into his eyes. “You can touch me.” The words are a living thing, and there's something in you pushing it out. You didn't know you were that brave... Maybe you're not. But this man is your husband, and you have no idea how you managed to marry someone so incredible. Placing his hand on your side, his fingertips burn on your skin.
Keanu's hand slides from your waist to the small of your back as he pulls you to him, making you collide against his chest. That's when you see his eyes traveling down, lingering just for a while. But it's enough to make you blush hard, a weird knot building on your stomach. “You're absolutely beautiful.” He repeats in a low, soft voice. You can't help but feel self-conscious under his stare, but your thoughts are quick to melt away when Keanu kisses you.
It's soft and slow at first, but you suddenly grow impatient, and you tiptoe, wanting to even climb on him if possible, anything to be closer, to be on him somehow. Deepening the kiss, you start walking backward, pulling him without breaking the kiss. Keanu's hands are all over you, but never moving too far. He's good at this, controlling himself. But you're not. You're running your hands through his chest, grabbing a fistful of his shirt and forcing him to move. You're too lost in him to notice where exactly you were going, so when the back of your legs reaches the bed, you fall back, awkwardly bringing Keanu with you.
A laugh escapes both your lips as he fixes himself on top of you, carefully moving you further into the middle of the bed. But soon enough you realize the position you put yourself into, and you blush, noticing how Keanu clears his throat, lifting his body a little, so his weight won't be on you. But you don't want him to go anywhere. You're still catching your breath, intoxicated by him.
“Sorry I made you fall.”
“It's alright.” He mutters. Biting your lip, you take in his dark eyes set on you. And his body, hovering over yours. “Were you jealous? Earlier today, of that woman at the store?”
Chuckling, you nod. “I guess I was. She was pretty.” Your comment, giving him a small smile.
“She's nothing compared to you, sweetheart.” Keanu kisses you again, but this time, he starts placing kisses along your jaw. He does it slowly though, as if waiting for you to stop him. But you won't. And a gasp leaves your mouth when his lips begin to move down your neck, all the way to your collarbone.
Closing your eyes, you wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him closer, the need of having him only growing, but an annoying, beeping noise snaps you out of the stupor, and Keanu stops, placing a peck to your lips before pushing himself up. “Someone's calling you.” He says as you lie there, catching your breath.
“Who? I don't know anyone.” Sighing, you push yourself into a sitting position before stretching your arm to take your phone from the nightstand. “Laura.” You mutter. “Oh. We planned on going to that cute vintage coffee shop I told you about.”
“I remember.” He leans closer, a finger under your chin to pull you into another kiss. “Go and have fun, beautiful.”
Biting your lip, you nod, feeling way too many butterflies flying around.
Keanu leaves you at the coffee shop where you meet Laura. She has been your best friend, and you're always seeing each other. She often goes to visit you, and you went to her place a few times too. The coffee shop is cute, and you have a bittersweet chocolate pie. The sun is setting, but its golden light is hidden away by some heavy clouds. There's a storm coming tomorrow.
“So...” She sing-songs when she finishes her smoothie. “How's everything with Keanu freaking Reeves?” Giggling, you look down at your empty plate. “You're blushing, my friend.”
“Well... Your call kinda interrupted us.” Speaking in a low voice, you glance at her. Laura has a weird expression on her face, a little scared, a little confused. It reminds you of Lucia the first time she visited. “Is something wrong?”
“No, no.” She snaps out of it, clearing her throat. “What do you mean by interrupting?”
“Oh, it wasn't...” Shaking your head no, you bite your lower lip. “We were kissing... On the bed and... I don't know exactly what would've happen if we kept going.” Putting a strand of hair behind your ear, you sigh.
“You're falling for him, aren't you?” She asks, smiling a little.
“Yes. I'm falling all over again.” You're still speaking when some loud voices get your attention. Looking at the doors, you notice a group of people trying to push themselves in. “What's that?”
As you stand up, the group finally breaks in, and there isn't much time to think when you see the sea of people coming your way. Moving backward, you stand next to Laura.
“Mrs. Reeves, a few words, please.” A tall woman asks, and dozens of microphones and cellphones pointed at your face.
“Uhm... Alright.” You mutter as they surround you.
The flashes start, and the sudden lights make you feel dizzy. “Nobody knew about your existence until the accident. Why did you and Keanu Reeves kept the secret?”
“We wanted to keep it private. A-away from the public.” You mumble, trying to smile a little.
“Is it true you lost your memory?” A man asks.
“Yes.” Nodding, you run a hand through your hair as they move even closer. You don't want to answer. They don't have to know that.
“Will you and Keanu go on with the marriage or will you break apart?” Another flash and you close your eyes shut for a while, trying to steady yourself, your stomach feeling sick.
“We're... We're fine.” You mutter.
“Is it true you're pregnant?”
“Yes.”
“Will you ever recover your memories?”
“I don't know.”
“(Y/N)!” Laura says, and you feel her hands holding both your shoulders, and that's the only thing that makes you notice you almost fell. “Are you alright?”
“Mrs. Reeves, are there any risk that you could lose the child?”
It takes you some time to process the question, hands holding on the nearest chair, knuckles getting white. Trying to catch your breath, you take Laura's hand. “N-no.” You whisper, hoping they can hear it.
“Who are you, Mrs. Reeves? Can you tell us who you were before?”
“No, I don't–” Your legs fail and you collapse on the floor, your knees hitting the tiles hard. There's a yell coming from the journalists, and you see through their shadows as they come closer to get a good take of you on the floor.
“(Y/N), let's go,” Laura says, trying to pull you up.
Shaking your head no, you stay on the floor, their voices, their questions making your head spin around violently.
“I can't.” Voice barely a whisper, you feel your body shutting down you lower yourself to the floor. It doesn't take much until you see black, and then all your senses are overwhelmed as you fall into unconsciousness.
Do you guys know what could've been kind of interesting to see in SGE? More specifically, the first book? Tedros realizing he has some possible feelings for Agatha while still thinking he's in love with Sophie.
Think of it like this:
Tedros trying to be closer with Sophie, i.e. trying to talk about his life back in Camelot, any frustrations he's having in his classes or with his friends, or even just wanting to know more about HER, but Sophie only hugs his arm, rests her head on his shoulder, or simply holds his hand and tells him she loves him.
Upon seeing this, his mind and eyes drift to Agatha, who is doing something like getting some homework done early or practicing some magic. Maybe he sees Kiko and Agatha together and Kiko is complaining about accidentally dying her hair green and making it all spiky, so Agatha waves a glowimg finger and fixes it right up for her, explaining to Kiko, who wanted blonde hair, that she's beautiful with her dark hair and Tristan is an idiot if he doesn't see that; not a very "Agatha" line, but I imagine she'd be tired of seeing and hearing Kiko cry and is genuine in her words because Kiko's nice to her and a pretty decent friend.
Maybe a challenge happens where people from the opposite side partner with each other and Tedros OBVIOUSLY partners with Sophie.
Agatha, however, doesn't get a chamce to think before Hester and Anadil equally take a step forward-
AND HORT CRASHES INTO AGATHA INSTEAD-He wants to get Sophie back for using him, and Hester is not taking her away from him.
Even with a possible concussion, Agatha and Hort do well, the challenge being getting across a deep and raging river by walking across a log or something, I'm not good at making up challenges for fairytales.
Because she's in heels and doesn't want to ruin her makeup, Sophie crawls across the log rather than walks, which makes Tedros have to slow down and wait for her.
I should probably mention that this log is close to the water and is cracking beneath them, so THEY NEED TO GTFO the log.
Tedros knows this, but doesn't want to leave Sophie(both because they'll get points taking away for leaving their partner and he's still pretty sure he loves her).
Chekhov's gun fires. The log breaks and both Sophie and Tedros fall in and are swept away beneath the surface.
Agatha follows with most of the students and Yuba following.
Because she's a smart person, can swin, and doesn't care about her looks, unlike many of the other students, Agatha recruits Chaddick, because he's strong, and Anadil, with she has rats, which are CRAZY intelligent, and they find another dead tree or a vine or something to put over the river, thin enough for Sophie and Tedros to grab, but thick enough that it won't break. Anadil kicks her maguc into overdrive and grows her rats to be the size of pitbulls, and Chaddick and Agatha use them to get to Tedros and Sophie out of the river before the tree or vine snaps.
I'm sorry for making Anadil OP, but she's exhausted when her rats are back to their normal sizes, too tired to even stand up as she glares at Agatha and tells her, "That is the last time I'm helping you."
Tedros storms back to the Evers with Sophie trailing behind him, begging for him to listen as she apologizes.
Under water, she had flailed and held Tedros down as he tried to get above the surface, which almost made them both drown.
He doesn't talk to her at lunch, but does notice Chaddick awkwardly commending Agatha for her quick thinking. By awkward, I mean it's almost painful to watch him find the right words to thank this "witch" for helping to save his best friend.
Again, this is an awkward exchange and it takes a few minutes for Agath to understand Chaddick and not get offended.
Tedros thinks on this and considers all the "connection" moments he's had like the goblin challenge where he mistook Agatha for Sophie and when he picked Agatha's coffin.
Sophie notices him staring and asks if everything's alright and why he isn't paying attention to her; water on the brain.
He shrugs, smiles, and says it's nothing, which makes Sophie smile and go back to talkimg, Tedros inconspicuously watching Agatha cackle her giddy ass off when Beatrix accidentally falls in mud while trying to approach Tedros in glass slippers. Kiko laughs behind her hand, but is close to tears. Agatha does magic her clean, but Beatrix still pouts and gets a little mad, even if the squeal she did was nothing short of hilarious.
Trial By Tale happens, events and all, but Tedros doesn't instantly break up with Sophie. He keeps his distance instead.
One night, after he's won and hasn't spoken a word to Sophie or sat near her at lunch, eating in his room instead to avoid her and because he's still a little injured, he is awake and can't sleep, so he wanders the quiet school halls, watching snow fall and reminiscing about home and how his school year's been, maybe even having a made up conversation with his father about what's happened.
HOW COINCIDENTAL THAT AGATHA IS ALSO OUT OF HER ROOM AND LEANING AGAINST A LEDGE TO ALSO WATCH THE SNOW.
This is the conversation between them that follows:
(Agatha turns to look at him with annoyed eyes)"... Here to call me a witch again?"
"Well, as long as you don't punch me again, I won't."
(Narrows her eyes a little mire before turning back to the snow.) "Why are you out here?"
(Tedros leans against the wall facing her and tips his head back, watching the snow.) "Can't sleep. Hester's demon got me better than I thought." (Chuckle) "I still have a bruise on my side from the thing."
(Agatha gulps as she remembers how it broke into pieces and attacked him, but says nothing.)
"How about you? Does the witch have you doing her work for her again?"
(Agatha gasps, surprised by the jab to her friend and at how he figured it out. Tedros's face is mostly expressionless, though he does raise an eyebrow as if to say, 'Go 'head. Prove me wrong.' She relaxes again and shakes her head.) "My room doesn't have a good view of the trees. I bet it's snowing in Gavaldon, too. Harder than it is here, maybe."
"Gavaldon?"
"My village. Where Sophie and I came from. Our home."
(Tedros laughs) "I'm sorry, how long have you two been friends for?"
"Long enough. What about you? What brings the prince of Camelot out to watch the first snow of winter?"
(Tedros's smile drops as he returns his gaze to outside.) "Like I said. I couldn't sleep."
"Why are you REALLY out here?"
(Tedros is silent for a few seconds, biting his lip because he's obviously uncomfortable.) "... Your village. Gavaldon. Do you... miss it?"
(After another second of silence, Agatha responds.) "A little bit. We were better friends there, at least. And I miss my cat."
(Tedros humms quietly as he gives a slight nod, biting back a 'witch' comment.)
"I guess you're used to the attention. Being the prince and all."
(Tedros shrugs and scratches the back of his neck.) "Sort of. Not really. No one ever followed me around like Beatrix. Could you see a maid being on my tail like SHE does?"
(Agatha can't help but laugh, Tedros chucklong with her before his smile drops.)
"I don't know. I mean..." (He leans on the ledge.) "I like being with my mates and all, but... it gets annoying when there's always a couple of girls giggling at you behind the corner. I miss my room, too. And the library. And the court yard. And the garden. And the field."
(His voice breaks at that last one, but Agatha doesn't bring it up. Instead, it's her turn to talk about home.)
"I miss my mom. We didn't really get along, but she's my family, Reaper, too."
"You named your cat Reaper?"
"He took care of our rat and bird problem. You'd be surprised at how many blue jays come to a cemetery." (Agatha's smile drops.) "I miss that, too, the cemetery. It was quiet. And just reading fairytales in my room instead of studying to BE in one."
(Tedros nods at that, no joke or quip.) "It's all fun until you learn how dangerous it all really is." (He is silent for a second, gulping and running his hand through his hair.) "Thanks, by the way."
(Agatha turns to him, playing coy because she's not used to the Evers ACTUALLY being nice to her, save for Kiko.) "For what?"
"The Trial. Saving me. I don't think I'd be here, if you didn't."
(Agatha blushes and looks at her hands.) "No... No problem. I mean... Well... I guess that..."
(Tedros smiles and slips some hair behind her ear and kisses her hand.) "'You're welcome, Tedros. I hope you can repay me, somehow, Tedros.'"
(Agatha almost tells him to forgive Sophie, but instead says something else.) "Can you talk to Sophie? She's sorry about what happened and she really does love you."
(Tedros frowns.) "Love isn't pulling someone down with you when you're under water. And neither is leaving your teammate to fight alone."
"You said you wanted to repay me, this is how. Do you really want to be indebted to a witch?"
(Tedros reluctantly nods.) "Fine. I'll talk to her."
"Thank you."
(Agatha turns and walks back to her room, but Tedros only watches her leave, speaking when she's out of ear shot.) "I don't think you're a witch."
I feel like I could add more, but this will be enough for now.
I hope you guys enjoyed, sorry if this came off as fanfiction-y or any of the characters were a little OP, magic or otherwise. And like I said in my progress post, this is just what I would have done to have Tedros and Agatha fall in love, or start falling in love
Either way, I hope you enjoyed this
