Then again its not whats chasing you that you're worried about, rather the fact you're separated from your team, low on ammo, and in the middle of the woods, defenseless. Far from ideal.

Your lungs ache, your legs ache, your whole body aches, really, joints threatening to give out due to overuse. But you can't stop to rest now. Not when the lycan (you think) is hot on your trail, gaining on you no matter how fast you run. You think briefly about calling out for help on the off chance a team member of yours miraculously manages to hear it. You're quick to dismiss it, though. Making sound will do you more harm than good. Besides, Captain Redfield is out in these woods somewhere. Surely he can't be too far.

You continue running, dodging trees and roots expertly, all while ignoring the branches scratching ruthlessly at your face. There's no time to rest, no time to regroup. You have to keep going.

And you do... until you're no longer running, years of military training ultimately failing you as you find yourself face-first on the forest floor, pain searing through your body. Fuck. A quick once-over confirms two things; 1. you, in fact, didn't trip and aren't an absolute failure to your team; 2. you've been caught. Easier on your conscience but still not good. The sheer weight on your back is enough to make your heart race, struggling doing nothing to deter it. If this is a lycan, it's the biggest you've ever encountered. Impossibly so.

There's a snout pressing uncomfortably into your neck, the padded skin strangely warm. The creature huffs, sharp claws threatening to dig into your sides as it holds you in place, smelling you.

You hear your name, a soft, animalistic growl, the creature’s hot breath fanning against your neck as it speaks. Your heart just about stops. You know that voice.

“Captain?” you manage, your voice small and breathless, practically suffocated beneath the lycan’s— no —Captain Redfield’s chest. There’s a grunt, his nose shoving further into the crook of your neck, inhaling deeply.

It takes all that remains of Chris’ self control to not ravage you right then and there. But your eyes are wide, practically trembling beneath him, the intoxicating smell of fear radiating off you in waves. No, no, no, he doesn’t want you to scare you. He flips you into your back in one quick movement, seemingly thinking you seeing his monstrous form will help sooth you. He licks your cheek, nuzzling further into you.

The word werewolf is really the only thing you can think of to describe him. With everything you’ve been through, this isn’t that strange. Not any less disturbing though. He’s massive — easily 8 feet tall — towering over you, pinning you to the ground with nothing but his absurd weight. You’d be lying if you said it didn’t do something for you.

And fuck, Chris can’t help himself, not with you under him like this, entirely defenseless, that hint of fascination in your eyes as you stare up at him oh so sweetly. He needs you. I do have a few questions from those first comics, have you ever considered drawing Bruce before he came out has trans? Maybe a little comic flashback of him coming out to his family? Also why was Branch so surprised? Didn’t he know Bruce was trans? And or was he… wait is Branch a he or a she? I forgot to ask before I didn’t understand in the story, if Branch came out has a boy or a girl. What I was going to say was Branch surprised that he wasn’t the only trans in the family?

1- the comic where branch finds out bruce is trans wasnt related to the tdau at all, it was based on actual canon, so that version of branch wasnt intended to be a trans he/him butch he was just a cis dude. branch didnt know bruce was trans bc he wasnt even a year old at the point of the breakup and bruce had been living solely as a man for years, maybe as young as 13? (he wouldve just decided "can you call me a he? and grandma can you start buying me boy clothes at pop troll walmart?" i dont think he wouldve had the resources available to know what transgender even meant at that point) and never ended up telling branch before the breakup bc... well hes like 6 months old. and he doesnt need to know anything about "spruce"s body. and over the years bruce just kinda forgot that branch didnt know, which is why he mentioned it so casually

2- i did actually draw the troll jd had a date with! his name is clyde (although i think calling him clyde S.D. ale would be cute. like clydesdale, and also ale like the alcohol). this art is old atp so maybe ill give him a fresher coat of paint, just like im planning for jds manic pixie dream rock troll girlfriends who hate him

Im not too sure what you mean by laws, so im gonna take it as a general "What are the major laws thatll effect the fic" kind of thing! The Fire Nation has legal banishment for everyone, which I mentioned offhandedly in the fic. You can send a document to the Fire Lord, but usually its seen by his representatives for that area, to get someone you are legally in charge of (your children, adopted or not, anyone ur the legal guardian of, OR if they've committed treason under the military branch ur in control of! although that can sometimes open u up to speculation, why are so many in ur command questioning our great nation??? What are you teaching them?) banished, this can be conditional (like Zuko's was) or it can be permanent. Sexuality isnt spoken about, theres technically no laws around homosexuality as it isnt even given as an OPTION, the only law that mentions it is that any relationship not mentioned by Agni's words, is not permitted and is seen as a crime against Agni, and is punishable by conditional banishment or even death in some spaces. Since Sozin removed any mention of homosexuality, polyamory, or honestly any relationship/gender outside the cishet binary, this means that without even MENTIONING the idea of homosexuality, as they did not want to even give a name to it as name is power, they've made it functionally illegal. Agni Kai MUST be fought between the parties who initiated it. The one who asks, the one who accepts, unless the Fire Lord says otherwise. so the quick answer is: yes. (but "feelings" is very broad)

in depth: i am 99,9% sure the answer is yes. at some point(/s), to some degree, some kinds of feelings, definitely yes. in the beginning it (whatever it was) seemed to pair with a sort of admiartion, which im sure they still have, but back then K could have been more like a far away, untouchable, sensational concept, now K is closer and she knows her well and loves and trusts her (and she is her god. never forget that😭😭😭). like rn she for sure loves K very very dearly and very very much. do you know abt that kind of love when u r not exactly sure what box to put it into, but all that matters is that its there and its a big feeling. and maybe u would be open to it being sexual/romantic too, but u might as well be fine w nothing of the sort ever happening, u just want to keep each other close. well they seem to fall under this bracket from where i stand.

obvi we know K has vocalised her opinion on the matter back in the days pretty clearly. and i'd argue that she has kept doing so up until very recently. and i'd also argue that so did T. like, the jig has been up for a decade, i think atp its their subconscious speaking sometimes, and they might not even be fully aware of how they r coming off (for example: the way they kept describing each other when asked abt their ideal partners. like, im sure they do not spend their days actively pining for each other. but like. u see it, i see it, we all see it?). im not saying they'd be perfect together w no issues and no rough times, bc thats just not realistic at all, but i know for a fact that they do love each other so very much im not even sure what a person can do w that intensitiy. context: i was in a small discord server for upwards of a year. i was one of the first few there, kind of a central member of the server (i don’t mean this in a self centered way, like i’m not saying everyone loved me. i just mean i was one of the few core/most active members. there was a little core community of maybe 5 or 10 people that i was part of.) i considered many ppl there my friends, the mods included, but to be clear this wasn’t a friends server and the invite link is in public tumblr posts (it was based around a shared interest.)

well, long story short, the mods deliberately attempted to push me + a friend out of the server because they disliked us (warning us for things that weren’t against the rules, lying to us about phrasing of previous warning messages we had screenshots of, etc. keeping this vague in case any of them is aware of this blog but truly 99% of it was not real issues where we did anything wrong and we gracefully accepted it every time, even when undeserved.) we got sick of this eventually and left (so they got what they wanted i guess), no drama in the server, no public goodbye message, most we did on discord was dm a mod we both considered our friend goodbye. we did both make a handful of vent posts about the situation on tumblr, none of which had the actual name of the server or the mods’ names apart from one vent post where i sarcastically told people not to join it in the tags, using an abbreviated version of the name only other server members would recognize. maybe five people from the server followed the two of us collectively on tumblr. really not something that would impact the main server community.

the mods made an announcement about this essentially calling us both liars and me dangerous/a threat to the server. fast forward to now maybe a month or two later. i do miss a lot of people in the server quite a bit and considered myself good friends with some of them but. i did think the mods were my friends too. so atp im not sure if they felt the same way.

the actual judgeable part: lately i’ve been considering the idea of making a fake account to join the server, make a fake intro (part of the verification process or i wouldn’t even do this) and send literally no other messages, then search my name to see if anything was said about me/try to figure out if they still consider me a friend, and leave. i wouldn’t befriend them under false pretenses using this account or anything obviously, just lurk for a bit and see what they’ve said about me. but it does kind of feel like i would be crossing a boundary by doing this? so. aita.

hiii so sorry !! i actually started answering ur ask when i was on vacation a couple weeks back and then i didnt have enough ideas and put it in my drafts....and to no one's surprise i forgot about it lmao so thank u for reminding me !!

however im afraid I won't deliver too much on this bc instead of like individual headcanons ive mostly just filled in the blanks that canon left with my own things (often self-indulgent) and made up a life for himeno which i now basically treat as canon lmao (yes this is delusion central)

i will attempt this though but fair warning that a lot of the behaviors and things i associate with her aren't very wholesome or a jolly good time (i suffer daily with this brain)

(cw for mentions of addiction and a lil bit of drugs, i promise it gets more lighthearted after the first few ones lmao)

so, starting off strong, I don't think himeno spends a lot of her time sober. namely, i headcanon her almost always running on some kind of buzz. i think it's established that she handles her liquor well so i dont think it would be noticeable at work, but considering she trained under kishibe for a long time, i can see her having a flask of her own and sipping at it throughout the day.

in the same spirit, i think she would also take any opportunity to properly get wasted. friday nights with aki at her apartment, outings with the people from work etc, especially if she doesn't have work in the morning. i think maybe she believes she's more fun to be around when drunk.

i don't think these behaviors are about entertainment, but rather a way she's found to be more "functional" and able to keep doing what she does and uphold the carefree persona she's established, hence incorporating them into her life to the point of very rarely being stone cold sober.

i think she also doesn't like the idea of her family knowing about how she copes. maybe she doesn't answer her father's phonecalls sometimes, scared of sounding too noticeably drunk at noon on a tuesday. or she's often stressed about her sister's occasional surprise visits in case she comes over and finds himeno's place in disarray and her in a similar state.

apart from alcohol, which is basically canon, i once had a thought about himeno occasionally abusing pills. pain meds prescribed for recovering from a work injury hitting just right paired with some beer on the side one evening and boom yk. i bet it wouldn't be too hard for her, considering her line of work, to get her hands on opioids regularly enough, especially since the story is set in the 90s and doctors used to prescribe them left and right before the amount of patients getting dependent skyrocketed.

to complete the holy trinity of vices, again based on things mentioned in canon, i think himeno is also the type of person to sleep around a lot with distraction being the objective. she has a reputation for getting flirty and handsy with ppl from public safety when drunk and i think that speaks for itself. this is not inherently a vice ofc, but in her case I don't think she engages in this behavior being sound of mind. it almost never happens when she's sober and i headcanon her often regretting it at least briefly the next day.

oof that was a lot lmao. um chill anyways, on a lighter note i have a couple thoughts about her relationship with aki !!

i think it's a habit for them to take care of each other's injuries after missions. im actually writing a fic about aki showing up at himeno's doorstep, bleeding and expecting to be taken care of in his own begrudging, stuck up way lmao. i think himeno is less likely to straight up go to his house for that, but i see them leaving public safety and going home together to shower and bandage their wounds in companionable silence.

additionally to that whole thing, i personally do believe that their relationship could've had a non-platonic side to it, albeit still casual in its nature. leaving that aside, i think they share quite a bit of affection and physical touch regardless, considering how casually we see them invading each other's personal space in canon. so i think they sleep in the same bed a lot, after tending to each other's wounds, or getting too drunk in himeno's living room. i think it took a while for aki to stop being tense and relax into it, but they settled into a comfortable zone and it was sth they both needed more than they would ever admit.

fujimoto once talked about himeno and said that she is the type to leave a lot of her stuff behind at aki's place and u better believe i ran with it. clothes, hair brushes, a spare toothbrush in the bathroom, you can't change my mind. i also think that to some extent it goes both ways. himeno has a shitload of aki's tupperware at her place, from all the food he brings her weekly, and she never washes them unless aki comes over to do it himself and by the time he decides to take some back, there's always more. black hair ties are often littered in her bathroom cabinets and on one of her night stands. a book on her windowsill that aki brought to read before bed once and then never took home.

not to get dark again, but talking about them is bound to make me sad sooner or later :) based on the way she thinks about aki's death in canon, i think she would often panic when thinking about aki's shrivelling lifespan, especially at the beginning when aki had a lot of years to spare and surely used the sword more freely. i imagine her being restless in her bed with aki sleeping next to her, feeling compelled to check on his breathing or his pulse. reach over and touch his hand to feel him alive and warm, hoping it would soothe her to sleep.

i also think she's there a lot of the times aki cries. i bet the first time she saw him was accidental, or at least not a conscious decision on aki's part. i also bet himeno didn't really know what to think of it initially, but soon looked at aki under a different light bc of it. i think aki finds comfort in himeno being in the same room as the tears spill from his eyes after a day of watching people die. and i think himeno loves giving him that, even though it tugs at her chest in uncomfortable ways she can't quite point out.

i feel compelled to but i won't go into the whole being in love with aki situation, because first of all its not even a headcanon but very much there and secondly i will ramble indefinitely about how i think her pining for him would manifest and this is already a huge post god bless

on a slightly different note before i bring this to a close, i like thinking about her bond with kishibe a lot as well. it's not shown enough in the anime or manga, but i imagine them being friends. i think they would go out for drinks but more to talk than get wasted. i think they'd have the capacity to talk about very real things but also nothing at all. kishibe might be the only person himeno talks to properly about aki, aside from her letters to her sister, because he shares the same life as her and inevitably has more space tl understand. maybe kishibe gets to talk a bit about quanxi too.

we have 2 main types of muscle fibers (with some in-between types that show characteristics of both): slow-twitch (or slow oxidative) and fast-twitch (or fast-glycolytic)

the main difference between the two is the amount of mitochondria and blood supply. slow-twitch fibers have a lot of mitochondria and blood vessels. the mitochondria keep up with ATP production necessary for endurance activities. the blood vessels supply a steady source of oxygen (hence the name slow-oxidative) for aerobic respiration, the type of cellular respiration that creates the most amount of ATP and fuels endurance exercise. fast-twitch fibers are larger and rely on anaerobic respiration for fuel.

donnie: thank you SO MUCH for pointing out that donnie is slightly bigger/more defined than leo. the difference is subtle, but it's there. if I have to hear one more person say donnie is physically the weakest turtle because of this scene 👇 I'm going to lose my mind.

im not even sure why they included this bit other than for hahas. maybe those 2 yokai just have. an incredibly high mass/density that putting their arms on the table is enough to hold it down. its the only explanation that makes sense.

donnie fights with a bo staff, a weapon made for reach, great for keeping your opponent just out of range to lay a hand on you. in this iteration, it's not just a wooden stick, it's a metal rod equipped with other built-in techie features. it cannot be light. i'm sure donnie has engineered it to make it as easy as possible to handle, but i'm assuming the thing is 10lbs minimum.

have you ever tried to hold a out 10lb weight as far from your body as possible? not easy. it requires a lot of core and upper body strength. in addition, donnie does all the running and fighting that his brothers do, with the added weight of his battle shell. again, we don't know how heavy it is, but considering it has a built-in jet pack, i think it's safe to say it's probably a bonus 30-50lbs. he's essentially fighting with a 50lb backpack. again, not easy. to do all this efficiently, donnie's upper body strength is out of the park. arms, back, shoulders, chest, abs, this boy is BUILT. am i saying that donnie has an 8-pack underneath that plastron? that donnie is shredded? yes, yes i am.

second to raph, it makes sense that donnie would be one of the strongest brothers. he has a lot of fast-twitch fibers to keep up with the weight work. even before seeing the movie, i headcanoned endurance-cardio was not his strong suit. he confirmed it himself in the movie. 👇👇

other points/headcanons based on my own exercise experience:

raph is pretty straightforward. easily the strongest. i hc weightlifting is his favorite physical activity, and he loves to be competitive about it.

donnie likes to think he is the most disciplined of his brothers. it's actually raph (weightlifting takes a surprising amount of focus/concentration).

leo's dual swords would require upper body training similar to donnie. a quick google search told me katanas weigh about 2-3lbs each. definitely not as much as donnie's tech bo would weigh, but holding the swords out, swinging, and slicing would still need a good amount of upper body & core strength

because of leo's body type, endurance, and fighting style, i hc he is the most well-rounded/jack-of-all-trades fighter on the team. this combined with his competitive nature would also explain why he managed to win the lair games 5 years in a row.

leo's training routine consists of a mix of cardio (running, jump rope, treadmill) with body-weight or light-weight resistance training.

donnie's training routine consists of mid-to-heavy-weight resistance training mixed with low intensity cardio or yoga for balance, focus, and meditation

mikey's training routine consists mostly of high intensity cardio, especially plyometrics (jumping) and jump rope. if he does weight training, it's usually with his own body weight (pull ups, pushups, handstands, etc.) for the purpose of being able to lift himself up for flips, spins, and kicks. he doesn't plan to have to lift more than his own body weight.

i'm coming at all of this from the perspective of a gym rat, not from the perspective of someone who has taken martial arts! if anyone who has experience with hand-to-hand combat has other thoughts to add, please do. ❤️

One day I'm gonna kiss the character designers for rise of the tmnt.

Yeah shape theory and all that, it's super neat but IT GOES SO MUCH DEEPER.

Since the beginning of tmnt, the turtles have always been hard to distinguish from each other. Especially in the 1987 show, but all the way up to 2007 movie, the one thing the turtles have really had to distinguish themselves is their color of their masks, their weapons, and usually some minor design changes like the letter on their belts, height, and skin tone. But even those have been subtle.

The 2012 series is really the first tmnt iteration to change up the turtles in a significant way. Not only is their skin different shades of green, but their heights are a more significant difference. Donnie towers of the other turtles, and Mikey's height really solidifies him as the youngest brother.

That isn't where the differences end, though. Raph has a crack in his plastron, Mikey has freckles, and Donnie is much lankier and skinny than the others. The main problem with this though, is that they are still fairly subtle. From behind and without their masks on, it's impossible to tell whether its Mikey, Leo, or Raph on screen. Not to mention, Leo is sort of treated as a 'base', and the other three turtles are just alterations made to his design.

Rise, on the other hand, said "hold my beer."

Not only do rise turtles have the different heights, skin tones, and masks, they have different body types.

And not only are these differing body types useful in telling the turtles apart, they have genuine meanings. So I'm gonna infect your brains with my brainrot.

Starting with Mikey.

Mikey has always been the silliest of the group, the party dude, if you will. Rise uses shape theory to give this playful, young vibe to him. Not only are his markings circles, but so is his head and shell. His design is very rounded overall.

The other thing about rise, is that all their fighting types are different. Their weapons influence these styles along with their personality. Mikey's style of fighting is very acrobatic, very showy. He is very in touch with his sense of balance and the space around him.

It can't be a coincidence that Mikey's body type is also very similar to an acrobat or gymnastic athlete. His muscles are small but compact, and rounded like the rest of him. His limbs are small, but clearly strong and well maintained. Acrobats often have these types of hidden muscles, where they almost disappear when not in use because of the function of them. They aren't using the muscles for heavy lifting or grueling tasks. Acrobats use their muscles for balance and manipulating their own body.

Next is Leo. Unlike 2012 where Leo is used as a baseline for the other character designs, he most definitely has his own unique look. Overall, he's very sharp. His crescent moon markings on his face and limbs, his swords, and his overall stylized body shape leans into this pointed, sharp look.

Leo attacks quick in the series. He is often one of the first to strike, and thinks well ahead in battle to preserve his energy. His battle moves tend to also continue throughout the fight with a large blow in the beginning and end, with smaller strikes in between.

Leo is also the leanest of the turtles, with a small waist and the lithest of the turtles' limbs. All of this points his character design towards a long distance runner. They often start and end races with bursts of energy, and then pace themselves throughout the rest of the race. They have to think and consider their speed. Long distance runners also have very lean muscles. It has to do with the actual proteins in the muscle that make them thinner but perfect for pacing and persevering throughout long lengths of time.

Similar to Leo is Donnie. The disaster twins, as the fandom has named them for being the same age, are the most physically similar. They are nearly the same height and, when Donnie had his battle shell on, their shells are very similar in shape. However, they are still very different. Donnie has a rectangular build with his purple pixel-like markings and big ass forehead. Him and Raph also are the only turtles in rise with full head coverings, and they are also both square shaped.

Donnie tends to put all of his energy into one, well timed blow. Usually using his tech to discombobulate the enemy and then backing off quickly. (The only time this doesn't hold true is when he's fighting with April, where it's only the two of them. However, he still does tend to attack and then back away.) His muscles are the second most defined of the turtles, being thick and bigger than both Leo and Mikey.

For this reason, Donnie I believe is built off of a sprinter. A short distance runner. The perfect match to Leo (the twins ever bro)

Sprinters have to save up all of their energy in order to use it all in one short length of time, often just a few seconds. Exactly how Donnie attacks. Sprinters also have much larger, more defined muscles than long distance runners. I think it has something to do with storing energy and oxygen to be used all at once.

Finally, there's Raph. Raph is big and bulky in the show, with the biggest muscles and is *physically the strongest. He lifts giant boulders and can carry all three of his brothers, April, and Splinter with ease. His shape is a square, with his head and chest being large and boxy. His fighting style is the least ninja-y out of the four, being more related to actually just throwing hands with someone. He fights physically and often times without his weapons, preferring to attack with his body. He gets in the enemy's space and uses his larger size to overpower them. His ability to make himself bigger with his mystic powers furthers this idea. He attacks hard and doesn't let up, not allowing his weaknesses to be exploited by keeping the enemy from never getting a hit in.

I believe Raph is based off of a wrestler or boxer. They fight physically and roughly, preferring to never allow their opponent get a hit in if it allows. Their act of defense is also similar, as boxers generally use their weapon as defense instead of offense. (Raph does this in the train battle and the shredder fight pre-karai death.) Even some of Raph's moves are essentially boxing moves. It also makes sense why, in the show, Raph loves wrestling so much. It may not be boxing, but it's a very similar sport.

Boxers also have large, bulky figures similar to Raph. Their entire body is muscular as opposed to just their legs or arms because of how physical their sport is.

*Mikey throws a lot of super heavy stuff like the top of a sky scraper, a loaded cargo ship, and a semi-truck, but he does it with the help of his mystic weapon.

THE YUKI KARASU ONE SIDED BEEF IS SO FUNNY TO ME i think it’s crazy how it always naturally pops up in all of my work but there’s lowkey zero canon basis?? in the sense that they’re buddies in the show karasu has ZERO beef with him…okay wait this is kinda unrelated but smth that i just thought of is like why IS otoya karasu’s duo partner?? i feel like yukimiya fits way better with him when you look at them objectively and even in terms of play styles the two of them would probably have really good chemistry…anyways obviously i understand tabieita but now i’m like huh i can’t believe karasu isn’t better friends with yuki 🤔 we hardly ever see them interacting i feel like it’s kinda implied that yukimiya was doing his own thing even when he joined them in the second selection (plus he was probably the last to join them knowing him) and even during/after third selection he doesn’t really talk to karasu or otoya at ALL…in shibuya we see him hanging out with isagi and reo more?? and for some reason karasu is with nagi the most??? very random anyways no idea why it’s like that but okay here’s two alternate trios i’d propose: tabishoken (karasu barou yukimiya) and bachira + shidou + otoya (can’t think of a good name for them) i think the vibes there are way more congruent somehow…toss reo in with the first group and give the second group like aryu or smth and you have some MAGICAL combos imo
