Pizza Delivery Boy

i’ve always loved classic porn tropes with a feedism twist.

imagine ordering five pizzas for delivery—a margarita, a Hawaiian, a pepperoni, a sausage and bacon, and a cheese. its late into the evening and your trap has been set. you wait patiently to strike.

within 30 minutes you hear a knock at your door. you open it, and standing before you on the welcome mat is a pudgy twenty-something wearing a backwards hat and a tight t-shirt donning the logo of your local pizza joint. he’s balancing all five pizzas in his arms, and he seems hasty to dump them onto you and get his tip.

“thank you,” you say, taking the pizzas. “i can’t believe nobody showed. what am i going to do with all this pizza?”

though apathetic and moody, he asks what you mean.

“i was supposed to be having a party tonight so i ordered all this pizza. nobody showed, so now i’m stuck with it. i hardly have any room in my fridge!”

he doesn’t take this bait, and instead tells you the total. you pull out your wallet and give him two twenties. while he’s calculating the change, you have a suggestion.

“hey, tell you what. do you want some of this pizza? i’d hate to see it go to waste.”

he shakes his head. “thanks but no thanks. im sick of pizza.”

“how could anyone be sick of pizza?”

“i eat it on my breaks. i go home smelling like pizza. i get dough under my fingernails. it’s lost its appeal.”

“oh…i see. well, if you change your mind…”

he drops the change into your open palm, pondering. it’s a slow night after all, and admittedly he’s feeling a little peckish. someone called off, forcing him to work twice as hard. maybe eating something isn’t such a bad idea.

reluctantly, he takes you up on your offer. once he’s entered the threshold you invite him to make himself comfortable and have as much pizza as he likes. he rolls his eyes a little at your incessant kindness. some people are just too nice. he peeks into the boxes on the counter to see what he wants. he decides that pepperoni sounds the most appealing.

the cheese pull is sublime. the pepperoni is curled and crispy. there’s just enough sauce. for whatever reason, it’s hitting the spot. he decides another slice couldn’t hurt.

as he’s grubbing, you drag a chair to the center of the kitchen.

“sit down if you like. im sure you’re exhausted.”

he nods. doing deliveries and making the pizzas has given him weak Bambi legs and quite the appetite. he takes a load off and opens the box of Hawaiian.

“a lot of people don’t like Hawaiian.” you say. “what are your thoughts? do you think fruit belongs on pizza?”

he shrugs. “i dunno. it’s my favorite, but i guess it’s weird when you think of it that way.”

he gobbles the slice and wipes his greasy fingers down his pant leg. he looks like he’s about to get up, but you stop him.

“well, i for one don’t like Hawaiian at all. you should have some more, since it’s your favorite. here—“ you round the counter and give him the entire box. “go ahead. it’s all yours.”

score, he thinks. he is warming up to your hospitality. he downs three more slices before deciding he is on the verge of uncomfortably full.

“what’s the matter? not hungry?” you ask.

“uhm. starting to get full. y’know i should head out, my boss is going to wonder where i am—“

“nonsense, you just need a little help—here, why don’t i feed it to you?”

you pick up a piece of Hawaiian. you hover it in front of his mouth. he looks stunned.

“what?”

“go on then. i can’t eat all this by myself.”

looking unsure of himself, he bites into the slice you’re offering. you gently coax the entire slice into his mouth.

“there you go. you don’t even need to use your hands. tell you what, why don’t i tie those up for you?”

you ambush him and bind his arms behind his back. his feet come next.

“comfortable?” you muse.

he squirms in the chair. “hey! what’s going on?”

“don’t worry. just relax.” you open the box of Hawaiian. “you’ve still got four slices here. open wide!”

you stuff his cheeks full of pineapple and ham. his cheeks are so full his groans are muffled

“good, isn’t it?” he thrashes and turns his head away when you hover another slice in front of him. “now, that’s no way to treat your host. keep still.”

you force him to finish the Hawaiian pizza. by the end he’s left panting, his already tight shirt riding up his pale belly.

“ohh, no more!” he begs. “i can’t take anymore. my belly hurts.”

you smile and laugh. “well, what next? margarita or sausage and bacon?”

looks like he’s going to have to call into work tomorrow.

Very awkwardly holds his arms out for a hug, and if you accept, he even more awkwardly pats your back.

Goes into a rant about how he needs to look his best and how it’s a good strategy to beat his enemies in battle while you’re kinda just there… honestly are you even crying anymore?

In conclusion, Technoblade is good at calming people down without even trying (I was literally having a breakdown and all I needed to do was listen to the silly pig man talk about Greek mythology. It must all be part of his master plan…)

Speaking of listening to his voice, here’s a scenario.

“Technoblade, can you read to me?”

“…what?”

“Read to me.”

“I’m not reading you a bedtime stor-“

“I wanted you to tell me about Greek mythology.”

“Fine. Come here.”

Long story short, he starts by reading you just one story. That one story turns into the entire history of the Greek gods and goddesses… yeah you pass out pretty quickly. But Technoblade isn’t one to stop mid-ramble. Once he notices you’re asleep, he’ll continue talking, just quieter. He’ll eventually get sleepy himself, and soon enough… you’re both asleep.

Works like a charm!

🏕 Camp Half-Blood Daily Schedule in the CDVerse 🗓

Opening: As a camp kid, I've always been bothered by the way canon/fanon portrays the camp schedule. THREE FREE CHOICE OPTIONS? For a camp with a maximum capacity of 400 kids? Yeah no thanks, Uncle Rick. And the fandom... I don't know if any of you ever been to summer camp because 'free choice' does not mean run around camp grounds with no organization 😭.

With that said, heres the rough schedule I threw together (based off of my own camp experience) + some notes!

Note: when an activity says its led by a cabin, i just mean the head counselor not the whole cabin lol

7:30 - Breakfast

8:30 - Cabin Clean Up - +technical free time if they clean up quickly

9:00 - Cabin Rotation #1 - See below

10:00 - Training # 1 - Half of Camp does Training #2 - See below

11: 00 - Free Choice - Chosen at breakfast. See below

12:00 - Lunch

1:00 - Free Time - Inside the Cabin area. Visiting other cabins is allowed as per counselors discretion

2:00 - Cabin Rotation #2 - See below

3:00 - Training #2 - Half of Camp does Training #1 - See below

4:00 - Free Choice - Chosen at lunch. See below

5:00 - Dinner

6:30 - Capture the Flag Prep - making teams, forming strategies

- the whole 'visiting other cabins' thing is genuinely mainly so the vibe of the camp maintains that more chill, familial vibe we get in the book while still having a schedule and pretending its an actual summer camp lol

- there is a buddy system! the camp i went to had one so the rules for chbs are gonna be mostly the same: at least one buddy, doesn't have to be from your cabin but cant be the opposite gender, buddies are mainly to the washrooms & refilling waterbottles

- activities might be added & removed, this was a really quick lore dump tbh

“Divine intervention, is that what you seek?” ........yes, bruh. Zeus dont fuck this up, u are decent enough in Homers Odyssey

“To untie apprehensions that were placed on that Greek?” okay i had to google “apprehentions, and apperently it both means “arrest” and “concern/fear”...........to untie the arrest on Ody, and at the same time the concerns of Odysseus THATS GENIUS, Ive heard Homer does a lot of these double meanings of words in his Epics and IM SO HERE FOR IT, also “that Greek”, come on, dont use it as a slur >:)

“You are playing with thunder for a man full of shame”..................NOW WHO PUT THIS SHAME ON HIM YOU MF, YOU WHAT KIND OF SICK GAME IS THIS-

“Try harder”, encouraging, she doesnt rly want her to loose does she? she support it, she just wants to see if Athena is worth it, i do like this characterization (as long as i ignore the disco animatic, i know its Jorges creative freedom but my brain tries to refuse ANYTHING that would be a reference to modernity, let me live in the bliss of ignorance to pretend its a movie set in ancient greece x)

“He’s pretty skilled with words”, hes a lair, i love him for it

[also the whole debate about “did odysseus cheat or not” no. idc what anyone says. if anyone argues he INITALLY consented to Calypso: fine, its blurry in the narrative, anyone can choose how to interpret that as they wish, but Circe was bestowed upon him by Hermes (in the myth at least, in Epic there ofc very clearly refuses her, and she accepts him (hear that calypso? HEAR THAT CALYPSO)) and Calypso, at the very least later on turned VERY unconsensual. FOR SEVEN YEARS., but the “he liked her no more” could also mean she didnt like her as a person anymore after she saved him. its not 100% clear how the relationship started out, we just know how it ends rly, but given the historic context too, it might very well be that it wouldntve been considered as cheating, even if it was consensual, would hera consider it cheating bc she does so with Zeus? maybe, idk, i think the idea of Ody being (one of) the only greek hero(es) that doesnt cheat is one i like, he gets praised enough by homer for all his skills he might as well have the skill of being true to his wife, in EPIC we know that Ody refuses her from the beginning so whatever did or did not remain unnamed in Epic, would NOT be cheating,.........and anyone who mentions Odys proof for cheating being the telegony or any other later versions where suddenly children show up, and he offs penelope for cheating and telemachus marries circe, can kindly, do some more reading into the history of the text and how later authors added their own twists, we dont know if the odyssey from homer was the most well known version, i think, but its the one we consider canon now, and i rly refuse to believe that Ody coming home only to get a new wife]

“Let him go, please, Let him go”, she reaches out to Zeus, as her light dims and she begs him to let Ody go, nothing left of the selfish and prideful goddess, she was selfless- sacrifcing herself and ler go of her pride to beg to Zeus to let him go, who stops as he grabs to throw another lighting, in shocked realization of what he has done.

The song fades out. And we are left to wonder if Athena is ded or not

now initially i rly thought Jorge killed a goddess

by now im more hopeful that she isnt dead (im hoping for that, mostly for the fun of sticking to the source material of Athenas help in the last chapter(s) of the story)

but

im still doubting a bit. the chance is there that she is, infact, dead, but i dont know how that would impact the narrative-,...i suppose we’ll see, either in the vengence saga, or at the lastest in the ithica saga x)

Husk

I have a lot to say about Husk for about 2-3 months now and I really don't know where to start. Que a lot of rambling that I hope comes out coherent.

I think the best unique thing about Husk that I love is the fact he can potential crossed paths to most of the sinner characters we were introduced, in their living life. He was born between Alastor and Angel birth years. I did the math on this once but I can't be bothered with it now. I think Angel and Alastor were about a decade-possibly 15 years apart, while Husk was in between. So they were from the same generation.

The thing that sets Husk apart from the other characters, was he actually grew to an old age. While the others died relatively young or midlife.

The fact that Husk was a world traveler means he wasn't stuck in the city/town/state he was born in like the others may have been. Increasing his odds to cross paths with the other sinners.

I like to imagine that Husk has some type of butterfly effect of the other characters lives that he unintentional and unaware he caused that lead the sinners lifes to what they are.

I lowkey headcanon (not seriously, just for funsies) as weird parody of an guardian angel. Here me out. He not a guardian angel tho. I love his avian cat design. But admit it, its freakin weird he has wings as a cat right?

The only ones we see with wings are the royalties of Hell (Can the Ars Goetia fly?) the sins...and angles.

Beside Valentino. But Val sort of makes sense...hes a moth. Moth has wings by default. Husk is a cat, yet he has wings? It also makes sense why Val is a moth. Granted I think a prostitute be more moth like...standing by a street lamp on a corner street at night. THAT makes sense. But given, Val a pimp...I guess it works for him too.

So Husk, a cat, has wings...makes me think why he has wings in his afterlife. Seems like a random thing to be given when it seem to be reserved mostly for royalty and wings seem like it be a huge advantage to have in Hell when most sinners don't get it. Must be some type of reason Husk has them. But alas I don't know or we probably never know beside cool character design.

Now, going on with this weird wing thought...and my lowkey non serious headcanon (Which im 100% isnt going to make canon), Husk is some unintentional weird type of opposite effect of an guardian angel.

Husk with his potential of crossing paths with a lot of the sinners we know, I think it be hilarious if he butterfly effect that he indirectly caused their path towards Hell or death. Like for example, he gave Nifty directions that started a weird Rube Goldberg machine situation of cause and effect that caused that directed her to find a man she became obsessed with and stalked then eventual murdered. Husk involvement is completely indirect but at the same time, the vent would never would happen if he wasn't involved.

Moving on from his living life to his afterlife.

Husk died in the 70s and the pilot 2019. Alastor was missing for 7 years (starting 2012), I vibe that Husk been under Alastor ownership for quite awhile before that. No later than 2000 but I'm fairly sure he was owned much before that. But I'm going with the minimal amount of time of Husk soul being sold. So Husk was able to fall, rise to overlord fairly quickly only to lose the status just as quick. His reign was very short lived. The rest of the time was serving under Alastor. That's quite a wild ride in a span of 30 (But I personally believe its much shorter) of unbounded soul years. Which seems a lot of years, but when you have eternity to live out the rest of your life, its very little.

I don't question how Husk was able to become overlord so quick. He a master magician...so very good at sleight of hand/cheating as well as lifetime gambler. He able to keep a stoic expression to minimize his own tells, while being very perceptive and skilled at reading other people very well. He can easily win and work with and manipulate people desperations of gambling their souls to him without much risk to himself. He can easily play hand in his favor with his skills and the rare chance he can't, he can fold and cut his losses before it gets to deep.

However, what had him lose it all. Because I doubt someone was better at cards then Husk. Especially in Husk own house. I don't doubt Alastors good at cards. But I don't think Alastor skill at cards is greater than Husk. To the point Husk lost everything to him including his own soul. I think they both cheat if they play a game together. In fact I think they have play a game, with intent of cheating and trying to catch each other in the act. Its their own game while playing a game, knowing each other enough that they will cheat and it brought a new level of fun trying to catch each other while not getting caught themselves. It probably became a own special drinking game, that one has to drink when they got caught. But I don't think Alastor the reason why Husk lost everything.

I think the reason Husk lost everything in Hell as quickly as he gained it...is by self destructive depression. Husk was the cause of his own downfall.

I only suggest this because...how else an extremely skilled card player who also skilled at sleight of hand, will lose hand after hand in his own gambling house?

My other clue is this:

Along with his heavy drinking. I think Husk always been a heavy drinker but it hit a all new level when he lost his love and became extremely jaded by the event.

I think Husk had found a very special someone and something happen to them. Be it died during an extermination or been betrayed by them, etc. Or it may be someone in his living years and something reminded him of them and triggered a downwards spirals for him.

Mostly, I think he caused them to leave him or indirectly caused them permanent death, etc. and he filled with self loathing, regret and remorse. Because he did love and care for them...but he fucked it all up due his own self-centered, selfishness and greed at the time. The pain caused him to close off his heart to avoid feeling that loss again and drink himself stupid to avoid feeling anything or to quiet his self hatred thoughts.

I believe the lost of them sent him a destructive spirals of depression. He started drink insanely heavier, which impaired his judgment greatly and just grew apathetic.

Enter Alastor and the lost of Husk soul

Alastor may have very well manipulated and cheated his way with the impaired Husk to gain his soul. Very possible. Especially the way it was pictured in the flashback. Alastor symbols and lit up eyes and extended antlers along with a sinister smile as well as Husk stunned expression of his loss of the game.

BUT

I don't think that how it went down. I can't remember the exact wording but it sounded like Husk turned to Alastor for help. It was a last resort, but Husk was desperate enough to go to it.

They were both overlords at the same time at one point. Alastor and and Husk was good friends once. Maybe, not close like Alastor is with Rosie but still good friends. Alastor probably took a liking to Husk as he from the same generation. I also assume Husk appear around Vox falling out with Alastor as Husk and Val fell around the same time. So Vox probably started befriending Val and helping Val with his rise to overlord. I can see Alastor do the same with Husk just to spite Vox and cause him to be jealous. But even if it started as a ploy to upset Vox, Alastor probably end up liking and growing fond over the cat. Playing hands and having late drinking and jazz sessions and such. Alastor appreciate Husk blunt and often correct observations and insight.

So when Husk was clearly not doing well and smarten up enough to seek Alastor for help. I think Husk knew the rate he was self destructing he was going to lose it all, including his soul. So he went to Alastor and struck a deal before Husk truly got in a shitter situration with a shitter dealer that he would regret much more.

Because let's be honest. Husk knows what he was getting into when he offered his soul. Think about it. Even if Husk had an impossible high number of souls...say a billion. He lost a billion souls by suddenly being bad at gambling. Even if the pot is a billion souls that he want to regain back, its not worth the risk of betting your own soul. Even if your got an amazing hand...Is it worth the risk during a harsh losing streak playing against another overlords as an opponent?

Husk knew he was going to lose his soul with his spiral. He knew what he was getting into. He an overlords himself. He may have treated his own souls more poorly than Alastor himself. I don't think Husk was cruel... I'm sure he had his own moments like Alastor and had causes. I do think he was a apathetic/detached master. The souls he owned was just a commodity he use for gambling. When sharing his retelling to Angel about this. He sounded remorseful that he betted souls like they were just an object and not a precious thing. I think he only felt that way AFTER his own soul did not belong to him. That's when he realized what a shitty and dick move it was to prey on desperate souls and pass them around when it should been obvious.

Husk collected souls to use as a commodity. Husk preyed onto the sinners desperation and addiction to get them.

While Alastor, I don't think he really cares about hoarding souls. He powerful enough without them. BUT if an opportunity reveals itself, he take advantage. But he only does it with quality souls that has real potential and use. He a quality over quantity man.

Husk knows what it means to sell one's soul. Yet he still offered it to Alastor. Because despite the rep Alastor has being ruthless, Alastor is probably one of the "kinder" overlords to have as a master. But Husk only knew that by insider information by witnessing himself by hanging out with Alastor and possibly glimpsing how he treated his contracts. Which appears not to be much different than any other sinner.

I know Alastor performs horrendous acts. He goes on killing sprees, probably enjoys torturing people. But I don't think he does it to his own souls. Because, TBH, people who do that want to feel powerful and they do it with people who cant fight back. Alastor is already powerful. He doesn't need weak prey and why damage his own property when no one can stop him from breaking someone else's? Alastor is so powerful that its boring. Where's the fun and entertainment when everytime you "play", the game is stuck on easy mode and the opponent is knocked out of the ring within minutes. Heck, Alastor gets even less than that. He just looks in their directions and people forfeit. Alastor wants the thrill of a challenge and exchange wits and banter. So he seeks stronger opponents to fulfill is needs for carnage and havoc. Not some frighten, defenseless slave.

Alastor not a good man as he willing to commit terrible acts and enjoys it. But from what we seen, hes not a bad man's as it appears he doesn't attack without cause or reason. He appears he only acts monstrous when he defending. He has no interest in sex so he not going to force Husk into sexual acts. Alastor may have his contracts to demeaning things or just do things for shits and giggles and entertainment but overall, hes tamed to souls he own. (The souls he doesn't own that pledge their service and loyalty however...is another story) Alastor pretty much just let his contracts do what they please as long as they respect him and do what he commands as he needs them. Which, honestly isn't much. Alastor seem to summon his shadow minions over his soul contracts because it seems less of a bother to everyone while Alastor remains more in control of the situation. It's simply less chance of error if Alastor used his shadow minions that act on his will vs some contracted soul who most likely is performing half heartedly as they are forced to do something they don't want to do. He use the contracted soul for a long term project since it would take too much power and effort to maintain and sustain his shadow minions over a extended time. It seams Alastor only have souls as a resource an a backup reserve. More of a "better have it and not need it then need it and not have it." Alastor even gives them task that align with the skills they are good at. I think part of it is because Alastor is also on a leash so as much as he denies it, he has empathy. But he will still utilize the resource when needed but overall he self reliant and a lone wolf and rather no really on people if he can help it, even if he does own them. I also think he knows Overlords and soul ownerships sort of go hand and hand. But I think soul ownership leaves a bit of a sour taste in his mouth. Not because of his own soul but being a mixed man in the 30's....its very likely he had some heritage on his precious mother side of ancestral slaves. So, Alastor understand the necessity needs of ownership for survival and advancement in Hell, but still has a distaste to it.

Granted we don't see how Alastor (beside with Husk and Nifty)or anyone besides the Vees, interact with their contracts, and we know they treat their people poorly. But I think from what we seen is Alastor is very mild. Including the scene he threatened Husk.

Mind you, Alastor was giving clearly giving clues he was already agitated before that interaction. He was essential a growling dog warning he was going to bite if it interactions going to continue. His snapped his neck irritatedly along with a clearly exasperated "what is it" that didn't have a radio filter when he addressed Husk when Husk went to get his attention. Husk was trying to warn Alastor about Mimzy but it was clear to even someone who doesn't know Alastor...(and Husk knows Alastor well) that Alastor was already on edge. Yet Husk continued to push forward. Even then...Alastor kept composure. Laughing off and dismissing Husk concerns. It was when Husk muttered a jab about sensitive personal information (One that I'm sure Husk wasn't even originally meant to know )about Alastor that anyone could have overheard if they were near, and that same sensitive information promised to trigger Alastor...THAT'S when Alastor became terrifying and threatening. So granted, no one deserve what happened to Husk when he was threatened but at the same time...it was Husk own undoing at the moment. Husk muttered that jab to Alastor that antagonize Alastor to reacted harshly. Husk was lucky that Alastor restrained himself ONLY to threat....Alastor gave Husk mercy by warning him to watch himself because next time would be the last time.

So Alastor is rather mild with his demands with contracts for the majority of the time but when he isn't, he very brutal but he usually given a cause to turn.

So Husk offered his soul to Alastor knowing what it would mean to sell his soul. Specifically chosen Alastor because, it would surprise to anyone to hear, is the lesser form of evil in such a situation. He sold his soul while he was somewhat lucid and not completely impaired to work out a deal that doesn't completely screw over Husk. Place some terms and agreements. I do think they did play a hand and wager, either to finalize a clause they couldn't agree with and use the bet to finalized it or just have Husk go out a way he comfortable with. Alastor may also play some mild manipulation but I don't think Alastor preyed on Husk as its implied. Alastor was sought out for a reason, and on Alastor part, an overlord soul is too tempting to resist. Especially being handed on a silver platter. If Alastor wanted to decline the offer, for the unlikely name of friendship, knowing it would ruin it. It wouldn't have done any good in any scenario to decline. If Husk was worry about losing his soul due to his own destructive impairment, might as well gain something from it and offer some protection to a friend then lose out on a quality soul, instead of watch from afar the downfall of his friend which he probably won't see again afterwards. It also strategy. It either gain a quality and powerful soul to his collection, or lose out and someone else has it...that could be potential be used against Alastor, along with any possibly knowledge Husk had gathered on the Radio Demon. So even if it wasn't tempting or desirable, its about survival.

Naturally, their friendship has soured greatly since then. Because, how can it not? I don't think Husk hates Alastor. I know the fandom believe he wants him dead. But Husk is just being jaded and surly. Husk didn't treat Alastor more venomous than any other resident when he was introduced. Husk is also comfortable enough to voice his less than kind opinions about Alastor or to Alastor. Husk doesn't act like a terrified servent in Alastor presence. (Unless he knows that Alastor in bad mood and looking for a cause for someone to be his punching bag), The two act like longtime friends but one is grumpy because he there out of reluctant obligations and just frustrated, annoyed and just tired of this shit of Alastor antics that hes forced to endure. Alastor seem to treat Husk more friendly, which to be fair can be an act but I think it part genuine.

Out of the two of them, its Husk that reminds everyone that Husk is on the Alastor leash. Alastor not the one that usually "putting Husk in his place", Husk the one that normally does it. If anything, I think Husk hate and angry with himself that everything is is own undoing. Frustrated and annoyed by Alastor who amused by it. Alastor is also just a reminder how low Husk became. It's easy to blame Alastor for his problems and even understandable that he does. He does blame Alastor for his current predicament at times simply because its just easier to do so and feels better to blame someone else to be the cause of your problems but ultimately, Husk knows he brought it all on himself and I think that's what hurts and bothers him the most.

Husk wants his soul back, but I don't think he wants Alastor to be dead for it. Tho, I think Husk feels that's the only way to get it back at times. But despite it all, he cares about Alastor. Even if its begrudgingly. I think Husk also knows its better to have as Alastor as a great ally than an enemy, even a dead one to gain his soul back. Husk is wise, even is Husk gain his soul back, regain his full power and strength it still fails to compare to Alastors own power. Husk knows there are greater foes that Husk cant compete and defend for himself or his newfound family against, but Alastor can, even if Husk doesn't fully trust Alastor. But Husk trust his own experience and knowledge of Alastor to guess his motivations and intentions.

I think Alastor called upon Husk to the hotel to bartend, because A) He knew from their former late night hang outs that Husk can make great drinks. but B) Husk also has wisdom and experience that can fulfill Charlies needs and benefit for the hotel. Husk has skills on perception and reading people from gambling. Husk knows about losses, knows the woes of losing his soul, knows about addiction, lost of love etc. I think Alastor pulled Husk to the hotel not only because Husk has skills that can be utilized to help but I think Alastor knew Husk can benefit from the hotel to be the sinner Alastor remember he use to be. Not the "husk" he became. Alastor doesn't believe in redemption, at least one that send someone to Heavens gates. But Alastor can see the possibility of rehabilitation. Something Husk could benefit. He lowkey subtle hinted it at the pilot. "I thought you be perfect to man the front desk as the job seem to be made for him" (At a rehabilitation hotel) Husk is not going to work on himself because Alastor commanded him to be. So Alastor has Husk station there with the possibility and off chance of Husk getting help even if its through osmosis from the sidelines. May even warm up on the idea and want to better oneself. Guess what...its working. Alastor won't admit his underhanded method of helping. He has a reputation of being ruthless to maintain after all.

I think its also why he pulled Nifty. He using her skills but also figure a place like the hotel is one of the few place that accept Nifty the way she is and let Nifty develope friends and family that would embrace her. I think Nifty was a lonely soul and she just TOO much for most sinners to handle. But at the hotel, she can be welcomed and be herself. It also a place Nifty would enjoy to be in. She a simple girl. She likes to clean and kill bugs. A large building will grant her that.

Alastor even try buttering Husk up and get Husk more comfortable with the idea of working at the hotel by offering him cheap booze free of charge. Alastor didn't have to care at all and can just say "I own you so...tough shit." But he did try to get Husk to warm up to the idea despite Husk not having a choice in the matter, and wanted to at least ease his grumpy avian cat into the change.

If Alastor care so much why doesn't he release them? One might ask. Beside overlords being super possessive and Alastor being a control freak? I think for Nifty, She doesn't want to and she needs the protection.

Husk...I think Alastor fears with their soured friendship, there is nothing stopping Husk to reveal any or all his sensitive knowledge about Alastor if he not bound to Alastor and forced to be silent by it. Husk is probably the only one that knows about Alastor own sold soul beside the one he sold it to. Alastor confines to Rosie but I think he still restrained himself real intro personal stuff. Husk is probably Alastor other confident (Tho, probably not by choice by either, Husk being forced into now, and Alastor lips being loosen by Husk made drinks combined with the comfort and nostalgia he has with the cat while inebriated. Which he rarely indulges in because of that fact, but still does on really hard days and regrets the things that slip but at least Husk can't tell a soul on Alastor command.) Information can be such a powerful tool that can be weaponized. Husk knows things about Alastor that would just completely ruin, may even destroy him or actually bring Alastor to his final demise. Also, small part and Alastor won't admit it, he values Husk perceptive insight and Alastor trust him to be his eyes and ears.

I'm sure there's more I wanted to say. But I'm sure I ramble incoherently enough about my thoughts on Husk.

Im definitely not gonna sit through all 10 hours of Ned’s Cozy Fireplace and analyze every pixel (yes ofc i fucking am)

(i dont think theres really gonna be any lore in this, Its just observations for fun bc im bored and dont want to interact with my family)

so basic stuff to start off with

little figurine of ned and what looks like a snowman from the christmas saves the year video (?) (actually it looks more like a snow ned), picture from the chlorine mv, ned funko pop, and a cup of chlorine

Ive been watching it on 2x speed and skipping through it, at 43:49 the tv turns on a plays a clip from the chlorine music video

around an hour and 22 minutes in, ned gets up (he does this a few more times throughout the video) and you can see he’s sitting on a tree stump, I still have no idea where he is though. There is also this symbol on the side of the container/chest

at 5 hours and 17 minutes, the tv turns on and plays a 10 minute clip of tyler working in the studio, which i dont think ive ever seen before

at 5 hours and 31 minutes, it plays the entire christmas saves the year mv while the song plays in the background

at 6 hours and 7 minutes it plays the whole jumpsuit mv

at 9:05:40 it plays some behind the scenes from the stressed out mv

at 9 hours and nine minutes it plays some behind the scenes clips from the ride mv

and lastly at 9:54:30 it just plays a minute long clip of torches

theres also this note on the wall (photo and theory from @silverlininghills post). and the missing letter spell out “a date”, the note says

Theres a lot in this note besides the missing letter. At least a lot of questions raised from it. The letter is addressed to ned and mentions clancy and the torchbearer (josh), so it wasnt written by any of them, but then who DID write it? It also says “just like keons said”, does this mean ned and whoever wrote the note are working with keons? I thought that, while he was a good bishop, he was still a bad guy, but maybe not, or maybe ned and the note writer are working with him, or are on clancys side but are pretending to work with keons(?)

And another theory, the tv plays the clip of Tyler in the studio at exactly 5:17:00, 5/17 is the anniversary of blurryface, this year it'll be the ninth anniversary, ninth year also being something clancy mentions in one of his letters. Is something maybe releasing that day?? an update to the website? maybe even a single??

ENG twst fandom VS AR twst fandom (since im in both)

I have been a fan of twst since 2021, and I have been talking to Arabs and English people about the game and sharing their opinions and conversations over the past 3 years, so I would like to make a quick comparison in terms of the advantages and disadvantages that I saw in each fandom, i don't know why im making this but yeah why not? let's talk shit about everyone

eng are more in headcanons and scenarios, way giving a lot of damn time and making accounts only for twst and glaze the game and characters all the time, while arabs doesn't really put a lot of effort and spend time to write and make accounts for the game.. arabs will usually prefer to read what the eng fandom writes on tumblr and x

The ages of the eng fandom surprised me, like not just surprised me, i was traumatized, most of you guys are over 20 and may even reach 30. I have not yet seen any twst writer who is minor. I think I am the only minor here💀Usually, the Arab fandom is between 14 and 20 years old. I only saw one thirty-something Arab woman who liked twst

I don't know what gender is common in the English fandom because many here use they/them, but the Arab fandom is all girls, without any exaggeration. I have not seen any man posting about the game in middle east

not sorry - most of the ENG fandom are looking for romance or NSFW, the Arab fandom hate this very much and prefer to read comedic headcanons or ones that show a beautiful brotherly relationship between the characters without yaoi..arabs are also looking for more action and excitement in the story than what I saw in the English fandom

Regarding Yaoi, the Arabs will cancel you immediately if you dare to make the characters gay or bisexual, and will beat you up if you ship them with anything other than female oc/persona

Arabs are not very simps as I saw, all the ones I saw liked the characters who seemed soft and nice, contrary to what I expected..The most likable character was Kalim, and other nice and cute characters are preferred, unlike the eng fandom who are looking for masculine strong daddy men, leona for example is the most hated character and arabs doesn't care wether he is handsome or not they just hate him, they like malleus, jamil, kalim, vil, all professors in general, heartslabyul in general

Arabs have many great ideas for headcanons and scenarios, action comedy bloody scenarios, even when they write romance it is just so cute and simple like little kisses on cheeks (they don't write kissing scenarios actually they think it is horny for some reason). Contrary to what I saw on Tumblr, most of the writings are romantic or short comedies. I have never seen anyone enjoy discussing “how will twst characters die” except Arabs😭

The English fandom has more professional artists, while the Arabs almost do not have any artists, neither on Instagram nor on Twitter or Tumblr. You will only find artists in Insta groups who prefer to keep their work private and not post it

I have not seen any Arab yet who loves a character in twst in an 18+ way or imagines inappropriate things. Perhaps will find them barking a bit because of Leona's muscles or that Malleus is handsome, but I have not seen anything more than this. Arab fandom is very clean and does not contain any kind of obscene content, unlike the eng content wich i really don't like how everyone just thinks about the characters with thirst

The reactions, oh my God, when the Arab fandom shows them something you wrote, a theory, or a drawing, no matter how trivial or unprofessional, they will write full paragraphs of praise for you, dozens of comments, and voice messages explaining why they think your work is wonderful or just screaming in the voices, While I am surprised by the English fandom here, most of them give limited responses, i saw a post has 10,000 likes but 0 comments. For Arabs, the situation is exactly the opposite: 0 likes and hundreds of comments

In general, I have no final opinion, which is better? They are both good in my opinion. Every fandom has its advantages and disadvantages. Frankly, I like that in Arab fandom they think in a more ethical way and provide content for all ages. Minors can talk to thirty-somethings without any worry or fear that a bad or immoral discussion will occur between individuals, but the game is... It is not popular in the Middle East, although I am sure it would be very wonderful if an Arabic translation was available, as the Arab fandom is very active and mostly young people, and they will love the game because it does not contain content that violates the religious and societal customs and traditions of the Arabs.. The number of fans is limited and the lack of content and speakers about the game makes it difficult to find people who share your opinion about the game or talk about the characters all the time with you. Twst content in general in the Middle East is not successful because the game is not well known

While the English fandom is very active and there are many people willing to interact with it, you can find people like you and talk to them, a lot of artists and writers, hundreds of blogs and memes, you can post and interact, have mutuals easily (and i was genuinely surprised how my account was easily getting likes and having followers so easily, unlike when i tried to do it in the arabic fandom) But personally, I am a person who is inclined towards sfw content and I do not like the amount of horny people out there simping for minor characters in a wrong way..i just can't accept the ships i see here, how everyone is making the characters gay when they are not, how i see Pedophilia of leona x cheka or idia x ortho (guys im not joking i swear i saw that) and other shitty things like writing out of character, making my guys look like dom perverts while they're all so sweet and kind (except floyd😍) and also shipping brothers and siblings (jamil x najma??? leona x farena??? hello????? are you guys ok???) this made me sick to my stomach and i just feel like throwing myself from the nearest building whenever i see such a thing, i can only tolerate straight and normal ships without any weird things

Paradoxes and Parasites of Modern Law

Also: im November gibt es die große Talentshow, etwas aus dem Geist der Hitparaden und ihrer Nachfolger, den Castingshows, wenn auch mit anderem Anstrich, dem der Wissenschaftsevaluation (Arthur kann theoretisch und historisch mehr dazu sagen). Außerdem werde ich am 22.11. in Brasilia bei Marcelo Neves ab exakt 19.00 Uhr mein Forschungsprojekt zu Aby Warburg vorstellen. Neves hat um einen Teaser gebeten. My work focusses on the relationship between law and images, a relationship that i consider to be a part of the history and theory of iconoclasm or 'Bilderstreit'.

In my current research project i work on law and images in modernity. I deal with Aby Warburg, who is famous for being an art historian, a cultural scientist,scholar of the humanities and a father of modern German image-science ("Bildwissenschaft").

Wonderful, but i am interested in the Rechtswissenschaftler and polar researcher Aby Warburg. This side of Warburg is known but not well known. For more than 30 years Warburg works on the history and theory of (roman) law and develops a specific (not a general) history and a specific theory of law. In his thinking, law is neither stable nor is it there to stabilize society. In Warburg’s view law is inconstant (unbeständig) and it serves to get along with or to cope with uncertain movement. Law itself is, in Warburg’s view, a technique to move (not to stabilize) or a moving technique. He does research on action and passion, that is why he sees law as a technique to move and a moving technique.

This movement Warburg describes as being polar, which means, that it is a movement, in which a sweep, a tilt or a turn occurs. You may find Warburg’s law in the mancipatio, an act, that Gaius already describes in the Institutions an being an image and a venditio, a term, that Warburg associated with selling things and with whirling situations or relations. In 1929 Warburg drafts a final work, a summa of and a manual for his history and theory of an inconstant and polar law. This work are two tables with altogether 37 photos and two pages of a newspaper. Warburg is interpreting the lateran treaties, the founding of a new roman state and the restitution of an old idea, the idea of community as being a curia, a church, a corporation, a person and a state. These two tables are the main objects, the central objects of my research project, i call them ‘Warburgs Staatstafeln’.

In my project paradoxes are also a problem of communication, of logic and of colliding forces. But primarily the objects I work on I associate with aesthetics, with ars/ art and with cultural techniques.

Therefore: It may also be or even may be more appropriate to call them parasites. I translate the term 'paradox' with the term 'parasite'. The objects I work on are inside and outside the law, they are a part of law and they are apart from law. You may say that they contain legal information but you may also sense those parasites as noise or as inconstant surface for what law in substance, basically or systematically should be. You may see those objects as objects with which law surfaces. It may be the surface of the holy sea but also the vague surface of every sea and every ocean.

4. Did you prefer Ares or Orion?

- Sooo both of them were kind of like... meh in a sense, but Orion was more entertaining and had way more plot than Ares (tho Ares had more budget and the animation was better imo). In Orion, I disliked how they had like so many characters jammed in together because the writers obviously had no idea what to do with so many people 💀 like its okay not to include the OG cast nobody would've been mad if you excluded them or smth. However, one good thing Orion did was show how severe everything is and how prevalent the antagonists were (THEY ACTUALLY SERVED A ROLE), which Ares lacks.

25. Do you like the adult versions of the OG cast — would you imagine them to be different?

- ONG WHEN I SAW MY GOATS AS ADULTS I HAD TO SHED A TEAR FR. I love them so much I could watch a whole show with just them as adults and speaking of that, the only thing I wish we could've had was seeing them play in their separate leagues. Its been mentioned several times on several occasions that most of the main members from the OG cast played in different leagues and I wish we could have seen them at their prime and have them play against each other in something like an FFI

28. Do you have any OC's? If yes — explain a little about them:

- So my OC slash Devil's Advocate y/n's name is Hideyoshi (last name) Toshiaki (first name), they are 17, born on 1st of January, blasian and they have taken on the role of something like an anti-hero/antagonist even though they are not necessarily evil or whatever, but simply do what they think fits a situation best and try to find entertainment in everything. I imagine them to be around 5'11 (180.34cm) and their voice actresses to be Grey DeLisle and Sawashiro Miyuki :33

30. Do you have any ina11 opinions that are controversial?

- OKAYY SO you might be a little confused and lost since you haven't watched ie (let alone Orion), but I believe it should have been Ichihoshi Mitsuru who lived and not Hikaru... IM SORRY BUTTT theres so much more that could have been done if Mitsuru was the brother who lived instead of Hikaru and I will die on this hill. It might sound crazy, but I genuinely think the idea of Mitsuru having to make up for everything he's done and come to terms with the reality of his situation would have added so much more flavor to Orion

Kin’s Reflections: Making your own builds

Wanted to put this out before Shadow of Erdtree - here’s some thoughts on making your own character builds. Hopefully you find it useful.

Finding a Style

The most common advice given when starting a build is – what are going to use it for? Sure, sounds obvious since Duels/Co-op etc. have differing character needs. Im going to suggest that it’s also important to know your personal taste – ie. how you like/are able to approach the game.

Let’s say you want a strategy focused on stance-breaking bosses. This requires 3 things – (1) applying constant pressure. (2) a plan to exploit said stun window. (3) enough experience to know where the openings are. How effective this gameplan will be depends on both – do you like constantly putting in hits? and do you know how to? Its where enjoyment + ability interact.

Going further, you can also think about the kind of mistakes you tend to make – does your build make it better or worse? if you enjoy mashing, is your weapon good for that? Ultimately, your plan and ability to execute on it define everything else – so keep that in mind.

What do use something for? And how important is it?

Unless you plan for an extremely high level, it is difficult to optimize all parts of a build equally. Consider how often you are going to use any weapon/spell, and how key is it to your build. Theres 2 aspects to this – optimization (do you build around it?) and access (do you need to access it often/quickly?).

Stat optimization wise, it may be possible to create a ‘perfect’ setup for single weapon. But, if you use a variety of weapons, they often have varying ‘optimal scenarios’; even if scale the same stat.

Example: For INT, softcap 2 is different for weapons (50) and staves (60). Are spells a ‘sometimes’ ranged option (ie. Spellsword)? or is it your main damage source (ie. Wizard)? If it’s the former, then having a less optimal stats (>60 INT) for staff damage is more reasonable.

Then, there’s also which part of a weapon/spell you use, and what is it used for? There are many weapons where swing damage and ash of war scale off differing stats (see. Death’s Poker). When it comes to access, something like swapping to a crit-dagger needs to be done fast and often reactively – therefore it pays to have it as a main-hand swap. In contrast, if your only spells are pre-combat buffs – then having quick access to your casting tool is less important.

Let’s put all this together with Example: Black Knife. This weapon’s attack scales DEX+FTH, the weapon art damage is FTH-only, and the ‘health burn’ debuff works the same regardless of stats. Thus, ‘using Black Knife’ can mean Melee weapon (DEX+FTH), Ranged weapon (pure-FTH) or Debuff stick (Min stats and go).

How much damage do you *really* need?

I find that in ER, damage is pretty damn free. Reaching 50/60 damage stat (aka. Softcap 2) will net you *most* of your damage on *most* weapons (backloaded casting tools are one the major exceptions).

Example: Zweihander (magic infuse): 50 INT + min STR/DEX = 773 AR. Pushing to 80 INT = 813 AR. Spending +30 levels to go from softcap 2 to 3 nets just 40 AR on weapon that has well over 700. You can try this test with other weapons and find similarly marginal gains.

This isn’t to say maximizing damage is bad - rather, what else could +30 levels get you? The answer is ultimately up to you, but below are some ideas.

Embracing Flexibility

Essentially, flexibility vs specialization. ‘Empty Stats’ that are currently not used still enable a wider variety of equipment. Every infusable weapon has a STR/DEX requirement (>20 for most) – thus, having some amount of both STR+DEX gives you more options (this is basically the foundation of ‘vagabond starter meta’). For STR/DEX users, one can flip this around and treat the caster stats (INT/FTH/ARC) likewise. Theres a ton of unique weapons that are functionally “single stat + caster tax” (eg. Starscourge Greatsword).

Smoothness

Another option is to spend those levels on supporting mechanics - make your build function smoother/be less clunky. Some common examples…

Leveling END to wear more poise armour. This isn’t simply about becoming tougher overall – if your build is likely to staggered out of it’s attacks, then such protection also becomes about making sure your attacks go through.

Having enough mind for a specific spell combo. Its also nice to have a round Fp number, so that your spells will always spend to 0.

Floating bonus END to support swapping to heavier equipment. A Zweihander may not be your primary weapon, but it really sucks to suddenly heavy-roll if you decide to swap to one.

Run supporting spells. If your plan is to burst down a boss, then perhaps some FTH for ‘Flame Grant me Strength’ is better than those last ~5 points in STR/DEX.

Accepting imperfect scaling

This is just to say - don’t obsess over achieving the absolute best stats. If running the armour/spells you want means only reaching 49 FTH instead of the full 50 – its probably fine. Also, theres many weapons where the difference in “most optimal” vs. “less optimal, more versatile” is >20 damage. For example? the entire next section….

On Status Infusions

This is a PSA to say: its fine to use status infusions on pure STR/DEX characters. Most weapons retain significant physical scaling when status infused (especially weapons with default STR/DEX bias).

For Cold infusion, optimal damage stat tends to either be (20 Int + STR/DEX) or (no Int + pure STR/DEX). Even for weapons where 20 INT is *technically* best, the difference in 20 INT vs. base INT is small. (note; this part is very oversimplified, so always check a build planner).

For Blood/Poison there is the addition of ARC also improving status buildup. For most weapons; 50 ARC vs base ARC nets ~(30) buildup. That said, ARC contributes almost no damage for Blood/Poison infusion, with most weapons losing almost ~40% damage if you go pure-ARC over STR/DEX.

Status effect itself deals good damage (blood/cold especially).

All this just means that on status weapons, consider that the important bit is whether you can trigger status well (ie. moveset). Given that status damage is always good and immune enemies are rare - why not always use status infusion?

I think you absolutely can, but there 1 consideration - delayed damage changes your strategy in fights. Having to work for and wait for a status to trigger affects how aggressive you play, even if the damage seems ‘free’ in the long term.

THE URGE TO BUFF

ER allows for absurd levels of buff-stacking, with no shortage of ‘boss 1-hit montage’ videos. Knowing this, it seems really tempting to try and fix bad weapons/spells using damage buffs. The 2 problems you quickly encounter is that (1): buffing is clunky (ie. difficult to do mid fight) and (2): The main power of damage buffs comes from stacking them.

When the strategy is burst focused, these weaknesses are less of a problem – you can powerup outside the fogwall and then end a fight before said buffs expire. But once your strategy isn’t burst oriented, longer fights means that buffs will expire – and you will need to find openings to reapply them. Openings that could be used for other things. Thus, I find using buffs to fix low-damage builds often ends up creating a “Double Weakness” character - being weak when buffs are off + needing to find openings to buff up.

Of course, there are some caveats to this. Some buffs can be pulled off very quickly (eg. RKR) or double as attacks (eg. Flaming Strike). Others can be activated via. regular combat and need little management from the player (eg. Millicent’ Hand). Probably the easiest damage amplifier for any build is the Frostbite status.

Bonus Tips

Consider how an attack/spell affects your movement. Being able to shuffle, even slightly, lets you maintain good positioning (eg. hp/fp flasks). Being able to change your character’s direction near instantly is similarly good (eg. Piercing Fang weapon art).

Don’t forget consumable items. Do you really need a frost weapon? Or can you just throw frost pots?

First the film

Polaroid film come in a few kinds main two are I-Type and 600 Film (SX-70 & 8x10 are for cameras were not discussing in this thread as those are for geeks not nerds), both are essentally the same except 600 film has the battery in the casette that older Polaroid cameras need to function and the I-type is the same size and shape casette sans the battery for new cameras and this is the most important note regarding film you want crystal clear sharp images and bright blues and greens like a phone pic but on a instant film get an instax why?

Polaroid 2024 is not Polaroid 1984

modern polaroid started out as a company called "the impossible project" in 2008 who purchased all the equipment to make polaroid film when Polaroid was shutting its door BUT because whofuckingknows why Polaroid said "nuh-uh" to selling the actual formulation of the film which died with the company so the Impossible Project just had to home brew it with what was available. as a end result Modern Polaroid film is thicker so a cartridge holds 8 shots now instead of 10, and is as sensitive and tempermental as a serial killer ferret, that is to say not at all and very. you can shoot a wall of blue in a blue museum with a blue filter over the lens and the film will still have a warm hue to it, and while direct light during the developing stage of Polaroid back in the day overdeveloped it jnto hell nowadays it can not be overdeveloped so easily in direct light as an extra 3 seconds in the winter sun or 10 seconds under a lamp can help it come out nicer but im jumping ahead.

Fujifilm Instax,

however has had their film in production since 1998 and is very capable of producing clear quality shots with very accurate color and a price per exposure half that of polaroids and cost for entry is far cheaper than Polaroid overall so pickup an instax mini/square (or wide if you're weird) camera while its smaller itll be that "phone pic but on film" clarity youre looking for

see the difference below and how Polaroid on the left cant do a pure white where the blues become purple because of the everpresent warm cast in polaroid whereas Instax on the right can do a pure white so the color is better with in my opinion a slight blue cast

Dont Buy one of the new ones off the shelf they are garbage look for slect retro to 2017 models!

what kind of retro camera to buy? do I need to summon Glasya-Labolas out of the Ars Goetia* going into thrift stores to find one? maybe, to that second question but let me show you the basic differences with the way-too many cameras I own first and show you with what to look for on ebay and in thrift shops. I paid no more than $45 for any one of these cameras and most were under $30 and to me that is a comfortable price that i would say is a good starting range

* please dont actually summon Glasya-Labolas just ask Lucifer its easier

BEHOLD MY COLLECTION

now these are 6 different cameras right? WRONG 2 of these are functionally identical, one is functionaly identical but tries poorly not to be one in theory works well so what youre looking at here is really 4 different types of camera of which 2 are actually worth purchasing.

Polaroids function by a series of plastic lenses* concentrating the picture to a mirror when the shutter opens and that mirror reflects onto the film which functionally classifies Polaroid as a Box Camera. what you need to focus on is one simple feature and that is the Focusing

*not all polaroids have a plastic lens there Is a series called the SX-70 and a 8x10 model that has glass lenses it's a reflex camera and other features for really sharp pics but thats for geeks not nerds we are nerds here

retro/vintage polaroids all (except exactly one unit) have a auto light meter that auto adjusts the esposure time to get the best brightness and worked reliably well on old film but on new film youre going to want to make use of the exposure compensation bar under the lens and bump it up at least half way (it even says to adjust the compensation by 1/3 up on the film box so this is a thing known by the company)

now FOCUSING is a whole mixed bag and focusing on old polaroids works in one of 4 ways (except the SX-70 and 8x10 cameras)

images to follow descriptions

1- FIXED FOCUS

the every day run of the mill Polaroid (and instax to greater extent) camera it has the sharpest clarity at 4 feet okayish up to 12 feet and 4 to 12 feet ONLY, this is 95% of what you will find in Polaroids as this was the most common way they were made and offers decent pics in the "tea steeped for one minute too short with almost enough tea leafs" type of decent, like sure maybe some people like it that way and alot of people who dont drink tea wouldnt be able to tell you the difference except that its weak and is "fine enough" but why would you if you have choices

how to identify - again its the vast majority of the 600 cameras youll see, if the face looks like some variation of these faces then its a fixed length

2- little plasitc filter shit "Close up lens"

this little fucking thing is the biggest lie ever made on any product, take the fixed focus camera that functions decently enough then add a psuedo magnfying glass wannabe filter you slide out in front of the lens that is supposed to give you a 2 to 4 feet of focus length, it doesnt, it adds a weird halo around the edges and over concentrates light onto the film bleaching out what little cool tone colors you have while adding a warped bluring to what little detail you can make out. these are somewhat common for all of the newer ones (post 1997 to closure in 2008 except the spectra and "one" which dont buy either as its not supported and lacks stuff again getting ahead of myself) as Polaroid just ended up throwing them on by default for the sake of a feature

how to identify - it has a little slider on it that shows two different focal lengths to the left of the lens

to see what i mean about destroying your photos with this camera style, that ring around the edge is the edge of the lens cover that covers your lens and in that focus area it overmagnified the available light and burnt the film

3- Sonar Autofocus

Sonar Autofocusing uses a Sound wave that humans cant hear that in nanoseconds chirps out and then guages how quick it takes for that sound to reach back to the camera and then selects one of 5 zones of focused lenses closet being shapest at 3 feet but can still pull some ok detail at 2, based on that, these can produce really sharp pics so long as

a- you're not in a room with horrifyingly loud muic

b- a room competing to be an anechoic chamber

c- not trying to shoot through a window*

these are kina iffy to find but not impossible

how to identify - it has a big-ol gold disc on the face of it cant miss it

*some models let you bypass the AF to focus on the default 4 to 12 feet focus length while allowing for the flash bypass trigger † to be used for shooting through windows or in situations where the sonar might not work for your photo

4- IR autofocus

uses an IR beam in the flash to send a "wink" to a reciever under the viewfinder to choose one of 2 focusd lenses (think the "close up lens" but automatic and inside in the camera) the af cant be turned off nor can you bypass the flash on all models as the mechanism needs the flash bar to focus, it still cant shoot through windows since it needs flash and has three less focus ranges, and like all IR based AF on any camera it can misread very easily

somewhat hardish to find since these were made starting in 1997 and Polaroid went down hill quickly after the advent of affordable digital cameras (The last model ever made Polaroid one has an IR sensor and so do some spectras but as stated previously dont bother with them)

After digital cameras and the digital revolution in the late 90s/ early 2000s people no longer needed a polaroid camera to send pics for insurance claims or to take nudes without having to worry about a developing studio seeing them, Oh yeah outside of professional settings polaroids were mostly used to share nudes as before them you could ask your local film studio who had the biggest dick in town and get a factual answer, if you diddnt know that well now you do, so post 97 models id stay away from even though some of them are cool and futiger aero designed like the Polaroid One 600, which is the last model ever made by Polaroid before closing and selling all there stuff (except the film formulation) to The Impossible Project but due to all the cost cutting that was being done its not worth it looking for one for anything other than a collectable because its missing the most important factor needed for impossible film the exposure compensation meter despite having an improved IR AF over the 97 model

yes the spectra would have been the polaroid to get however the impossible project gave up on it due to spectras uniqueness and the issues that came along with it. see the spectra 1200 film was a touch wider than the regular 600 film and its rollers were very very much made for the old polaroid film that impossible's film no matter how they pinched and squeezed and forced angles and coated what have you they simply brokedown and jammed irreversibly alot so fun to collect but its truely a RIP but for me ill still pick one up one day as a show piece

ideally modles (readable on face above where the pictures come out) Sun 660 AF, Supercolor 670 AF or, Impluse AF

Best will be the Sun 660 AFs or supercolor 670 AFs overall as they have the option to shut off the flash (by pulling the trigger behind the shutter button) and have the sonar focus overrided with a button on the lid (hold it as your taking your photo)

HOWEVER while the Impulse AF might not allow you to turn off the flash or sonar foucs it its one of the few vintage models that have a built in 10 second timer that you can still get film for, and a signifgantly better view finder

all in a slightly sleeker ever so distinctive late 80s early 90s consumer electronics vibe that no retro revival has ever been able to replicate so if that is worth the compromise get one of those (or both its nice to have options but you do not need a 660 and a 670 thats redundant) definately a solid option as well

The SX-70 (this also applies to the 600 film equivalant 680) with sonar AF is arguably the best of the vintage polaroids but any SX-70s is great, glass lenses with manual focus control or on later models sonar focus, you look out the same lens thats taking the pic so you dont have to compensate at all when framing your pic like on a regular Polaroids and worst of all its the camera of choice for the "UUh Acktually" enthusiasts that gatekeep a good expierance with Polaroids away from people who just want to have a decent time without making it their personality so you know what that means!!! yep these are are so gloated and prized about these are the only style vintage polaroids that arent limited edition that frequently go well above the price of the brand new Polaroids no matter how shit the condition sometimes even tripple due to scalping thus these are expensive as all hell, awkward to hold and a pain in the ass to get meanwhile these things need to be modded to accept some modern films specialty flash packs with extra batteries and a bunch of other random little things that make it annoying to use that ill bother to learn about if i see one for under $50 and feel like buying it that day.

SWEET I GOT MY SONAR AUTOFOCUS 660/670/IMPULSE POLAROID HOW DO I GET A GOOD SHOT WITH IT

like i said at the start of this modern Polaroid film is tempermental and despite how much they tell you its light sensitive its not sensitve enough! when i said way back that there is a light meter in them, there is and there is an accompanying slide bar that makes it expose the film longer or shorter in addition to the automatic light meter

when you take a photo using the default exposure "slider in the middle" you will get a underexposed film as an end result see below

this was taken on my Sun 660 AF SE and while i got super sharp detail that made my eyes cry when i first saw it because up to this time ive only dealt with fix focused cameras. it was WAY dark so i moved the exposure compensation up a few times to

DETAIL, COLOR, EVERHING YOU COULD WANT IN A MODERN DAY POLAROID PIC and better yet entirely repeatable.

IF ITS COLD/ HOT OUTSIDE DOES THAT AFFECT THE FILM

yes too cold film or too hot film will make the phots come out a pale blue if its cold or a pale magenta if its hot (which is very meta) while some people take advantage of this to make monocromatic film in an artsy way you might not want to so keep that in mind you need to keep the film in a comfortable temprature zone of

getting a bag that has a insulated space for a cold pack can help in the heat but if its cold out you can do the same as above but with a hot pack OR when you take the photo as soon as the fiolm is finshed being ejected out take it out and put it right into your pocket or in your coat under your arm to warm it up during the development stage. really old Polaroid cameras used to come with a "cold clip" for this exact use

CAN I USE ONE FILM CASETTE FOR MORE THAN ONE CAMERA ONCE ITS BEEN PUT IN A CAMERA THIS SHITS KINDA EXPENSIVE

absolutely... not without damaging the top two sheets of film (thus 1/4 or .25% of the casette a total loss), just accept that once the film is installed its committed to that camera dont worry for the intrusive thougts I have examples of what happens the pic on the right was the exposure at the top of the casette and the left was the one after it. i swapped the casette in a fairly dark car at night and what you see on the left is a sonar auto focus camera trying to take a pic of some street lights through a window on damaged film.

ARE THERE ANY THINGS I MUST CONSIDER THAT I WOULDNT THINK ABOUT OVERTLY OTHERWISE

Yes just like being a fan of Taylor Swift there is a underlying level of ecological damage that you might be doing but is realistically negligable when compared to the environmental damage unregulated and underegulated industries produce and when compared to general overconsumption waste things like fast fashion and water bottle trends produce (and is 100% lead free).

Polaroid 600 and SX film Cassettes that Polaroid film is stored in are made of 3 main pieces, the plastic shell, metal spring piece (both parts of which can be recycled) and a lithium ion battery that is used to operate the camera, now there is a way to recycle them that involves breaking out the plastic front and seperating out the metal piece to put into the recycle and taking the battery to recycle at a place that recycles lith-ion batteries, however if you do not have such facilities available to you unfortunately it kinda becomes a chuck it in the trash thing. but keep in mind your maybe half a dozen or so film cartridges or cartridge batteries that wind up in the trash over a year or so arent going to add in any meaningful or impactful way to the the cause of global climate change or detonate thermonuclear bombs of battery acid onto baby seaturtles or anything like that even when millions of people are doing it too. so its entirely up to you to your own concious and/or ability to recycle them

HOWEVER if you want a battery free casette option so you can recycle more easily you can get one of the 2017 Polaroid OneStep 2 or One Step 2+ Cameras that use a built in rechargeable battery and you can get the I-Type film that does not have a battery in the casette keep in mind these cameras are discontinued and as a result of being one of the only good post-polaroid closure instant cameras under the Polaroid name they are being scalped online as far as prices go

THE TLDR

new polaroid film wil alway be warm hued and unexposed and as for polaroid cameras available in stores new ones suck, most of the retro are meh ,to expensive for no reason. Buy a polaroid sun 660 af or supercolor 670 af but if you dont want to be able to shoot without flash or shoot through glass by turning off the auto focus and would like a 10 second timer instead get a the Impulse AF and slam up the exposure to very nearly all the way up to where the adjuster is on the arrow's middle or lower half if you want a model that has a rechargeable battery instead of a battery in the film casette to reduce e-waste and make it easier to recycle get a 2017 Polaroid Originals One Step2 or One Step2 + to use the battery free I-type film
