You know, fiction is not reality, so loving a murderous monster is fine because normally people hate and fear them irl.
But then people justify fictional genocide by 'well they are horrible so they deserve to be murdered' and in these instances it's hard to hold onto 'fiction is not reality', because this kind of logic came from somewhere.
