We found love in a hopeless place part 4

Chapter 4: The First Date

Spencer was on his way to meet Max when he got a phone call. He answered without checking the ID "hello?"

"Hey Spence" said the voice of JJ "how are you?"

"Oh hey JJ. Sorry I didn't see who was calling" he said and was graceful that he did not mention Max, because he wanted to keep this to himself. He was recently out of jail and waiting to return to work so he wanted something normal and good to keep to himself for a while. "I'm good and you? How are you feeling after that car crash?" He was still upset because that was all Mr. Scratch's fault and he wished he was the one killing him.

"I'm good. The scratches weren't deep and my ribs are healing well" he smiled at that "I wanted to know about you. How are you dealing with this month out of work"

He sighed and looked down "pretty good. I'm enjoying somethings I used to take for granted and now that I'm out of jail where I couldn't appreciate them... Well now I'm enjoying them" he laughed and so did she.

"Well I'm glad" he knew she had a smile on her face. He did not have to see her to know it "hey... Um... I was wondering if you would like to go to the zoo with us tomorrow morning. Henry wanted to go with you and Michael asked also to be with uncle Spence" he smiled.

"I would love to. See you tomorrow"

"Ok see you" they hung up and a few minutes later he arrived to the park where he will meet with Max.

He waited some minutes until she talked to him "hey Spencer" she said with a smile "did I make you wait to much?" He shook his head "oh good, I was at my dad's house and we got distracted talking"

"No problem, really I arrived a few minutes ago" he smiled "um... Let's go in?" She nodded and they walked to the coffee shop.

He opened her the door and she smiled. It's been a while since she met a man that do this, not to just impressed her or her family but as something selfless.

He was adorable and a gentleman. They ordered their coffee and the store has donuts so he ordered a few for them. Each one paid and then walked to a table far from the others to talk.

"So how was your day?" He asked after pouring a lot of sugar in his coffee and some cream.

"Wow... That's a lot of sugar" she laughed.

"I like my coffee with a lot of sugar" he smiled.

She smiled back and drank some coffee "I can see. My day was busy. It's the end of the summer camp I'm working on and it had a mini gallery with their works"

"Wow that's awesome. Can I see them?" He ate a donut.

"Sure, it would be great. Those kids are really talented and they did a great job with some difficult techniques" he smiled.

"Do you like to teach?"

"Yes I do. Maybe it's in my blood because my mom was a teacher" when she talked about her mom, her voice was lower.

"Was?" He looked at her curious "do you want to tell me or it's too soon?"

She sighed and looked at him "is it weird that I did want to tell you? Even when we just met?"

"No I don't think it's weird. Sometimes we feel so comfortable with an stranger than with a long time friend because the stranger won't judge us"

She smiled softly "you are right about something. I feel comfortable with you" she held a donut and bit it "she died a few weeks ago. Cancer" she said holding tears "I feel like it was the best for her... She was suffering" she looked at her coffee and drank some then said "now let's talk about something cheerful" she laughed softly "we talked about my work but not yours"

He smiled and drank some coffee "what do you want to know?"

"Everything you can tell me" she smirked.

"Well... I work for the FBI and I'm a Profiler, which means that I found people using psychology"

"See? That's an awesome job. Not like making turkeys with your hands"

He laughed softly "yeah maybe, but it's also very dangerous and sometimes you can ended up in the hospital"

"True. But I guess it's worthy when you save someone. I guess"

"Very much. It's out strength to keep doing this"

"And are you working?" He shook his head "why? If you can tell me of course"

"Well I can't give the details but I got into some troubles with someone from my work that I thought I was done with... This person did things to get me in troubles, ordered someone else to do them. They kidnapped my mom and almost killed her. But at the end my team helped me and we saved my mom and stopped those people"

"Good. And I'm happy your team saved you and your mom" she smiled.

"Me too, it wasn't easy but they pull that off" he looked at her "ok now they change subject to a cheerful one" she laughed "do you have siblings?"

"Actually yes. I have two sisters. One older and another younger than me" she smiled "I'm the middle sister"

"That most be awkward"

"Yeah you can't be too crazy because you need to be a good role model for your younger sister but you still have an older one watching over you" they laughed at that "and what about you? Any siblings?"

"No. I'm an only child"

"Awe, that should be boring"

"My childhood wasn't boring at all. It was interesting, even without siblings but honestly I once asked my mother why I never had a brother or sister and she said... I was perfect and all what she wanted and why would she want to mess the perfection?"

"The mothers know how to make us feel special" she smiled but it was a sad one.

Spencer did something that surprised him, he took her hand softly "I know it's hard but just focus on the good times with her. What you both share while she was healthy and happy" she looked at him and nodded then squeezes his hand softly.

"Thank you" she smiled "gosh... I never thought about her so much in days and now I cried twice in less than an hour" she wiped her tears out of her eyes.

"It's ok, our minds tried to hide hurt but then suddenly it just collapse and we can't stop it to come over and over until the pain is gone"

"Wow... You really know psychology" she smiled gently.

"Yeah I use it a lot" he looked dow at his empty cup then back to her "going back to your question about siblings... I might not have siblings from my mother and father but I do have someone who turned out to be like a brother to me. Hw used to work with me and now he out of the FBI but we are still in contact. He helped me and I helped him. His son call me uncle Spencer so you could say he is my big brother"

"Awe so sweet" said Max and the her phone started to ring "oh I'm sorry" Spencer moved his hand as a sign of no problem and she stood up to answer. She talked for a few minutes and returned to him "I have to go, I'm sorry. One of my student needs help at the gallery. Do you want to go tomorrow to see it?"

Spencer was about to say yes but then remembered his promise to go to the zoo with Henry and Michael. He looked at her "I can't. Maybe the day after tomorrow?"

She looked disappointed but understood that he may had something else to do "sure no problem" she smiled "see you then" they both stood up and walked out the coffee shop.

"It was nice and I hope we can do this again" he said looking at her. He was amazed by how fluid it was and how he did not feel uncomfortable or did something awkward.

"I would love to" she smiled and called a taxi "I think maybe after the gallery? It's in the morning so we can have lunch?" She bit her lip.

"Sounds perfect to me" he smiled an the taxi parked in front of them. He opened the door for her and she did not know what got into her but she just follow the moment and kissed his cheek.

"See you" then as fast as it happened she got in the car and closed the door. She said the address she had to go to and the taxi started to move. She waved to him and he did the same but just by instinct because his mind was not there.

It was in that little kiss, it was so quick that he thought for a second it was not real but it was and he smiled. He could not believe it, she just kissed his cheek. He returned home and his gifted mind was recreating the whole conversation.

They did not say big things but he felt like he knew her a bit better than before and he opened a little. Of course he would not tell her about that crazy woman who was after him or something he had to deal. At least no yet. She did not need to know them.

• and wow could the super family tell something was wrong

• sam/bucky/rhodes- “okay what’s the deal, we’ve played 5 rounds of fortnite and you havent once rage quit even though you’re doing terrible”

• tony- “kid, what’s wrong? everyone here can tell you’re not feeling great”

Im a hair close to breaking down and puking.

Dont worry this is just me needing to vent 👌🏻

Schools stressing me out. I got 1 more week to finish my end project, if i fail it i have to redo my year. Mentally i know i will not b able to handle one more year im done with the shit. Now i learn that i need to pay about 160€ to print my end project and oof.

First off, yes i collect bjds. How? By selling my current dolls, art commissions and aloooot of saving up. I dont have a job.

My family is considerd middle class but i know we can just get by every month. We can barely save up. This has been a thing ive come to accept. I dont want pity im just venting here.

My gran would give her last cent away if it meant happynes for another. I havent told her yet the price but i alreafy know the answer "well cant do anything bout it ill just pay it".

And idk wtf to do. I need my shit printed to get my degree.

"Sell ur doll" ive been tryina sell 1 of em for almost 2 years now :^) + i rly do not want to give one of the only things that bring me a lil joy away. I should b allowed to keep my shit.

I have sent a message to my school asking wtf i should do. Yes we can pay it but we already dobt have that much...

I still hate it when peopke say school will b the best time of ur life. Bc oof ill have a misreble life then.

AND ALSO ive done great b4 the virus broke out! I was being top of my class again. I was motivated like back in 2013-1015. But the virus made me fall into a hole and it seems imposible to get out rn. On top of that i havent been doing hw and sudenly it affects my whole year?? Bc this period i have been slacking off my teachers r telling me id have to redo my year? Did my previous points not count? Did i do those for nothing??? Why is this period do importand?? I wanna cry.

I canot wait till the 18th this month.

Not -really- negative but also not super posi either so late night rambles go under a read more~

I managed to get the week of the 4th off work so thats good cuz i get to slam my whole body into the expansion first week. Part of me feels crappy tho cuz its a holiday week. Worse yet i am for sure NOT getting holiday pay if im getting the week off

I really hope my desire to do stuff comes back with this expansion. I have never taken a legitimate hiatus from the game and i think thats the source of my burnout. I always BARE MINIMUM cap tomestones and do sticker book, every week, like clockwork.

I said I would be better about doing Extremes this time; In Heavensward I only did Bis, Rav, and Sophia with any regularity (mostly Sophia). I never did much Seph, and i still, today, havn’t done Thordan, Nid or Zurvan.

And Stormblood? Only Byakko. Legit one Extreme; not even the original 2.

And i actually liked Eureka but i wasnt really in the initial thrust of it and now i am 3 zones behind. Plus my friends who were interested in it are way below what progress i did do and im not....certain how to catch them up? There isnt a regular level sync, idt, which would be almost required i would have thought. I did one relic in ARR, two in HW. And i didnt even attempt any in SB, since it was locked in Eureka. And i want to do it with friends. So yea thats a pickle....

I think its a mixed bag of things; my personal social climates kinda sorta all turned around lately. My partner switched mains, which is 200% ok cuz they’re just way happier playing a different character so i am way supportive of that. My desire to RP is nonexistent and i’ll be real with you chief I never really set out to RP in the first place. It sorta just happened; a lot of people use it to cope or as a creative outlet and just for fun, but me I dont ‘need’ to RP. Theres no huge driving force for it, so its kinda just something to do, but the desire isnt there.

And then theres the big reason which i think is ARK. Or heck just other games in general. I really wanna play other stuff right now, and since our ARK server got waaaay more traction than I thought in a very fast amount of time I need (AND WANT) to devote more time there.

I think work plays a small role, definitely smaller than when i first started cuz i thought id just never get to do anything ever again. But the hours arent as horrible as i once thought and i am still able to be social.

And yea the other thing is i am maybe....even more social? in my own circle than i have been. Branching out and playing other stuff with folks, im not touch starved for social time either.

I dont know, i really dont think i want to quit 14; im pretty certain of that. Just my drive for it is probably as low as its ever been recently and i hope the expansion brings it back. Something to be honest about i remember being hyped for HW. I remember being hyped for SB. I am....hyped for more content? but not for ShB? Its a weird distinction but its certainly there.

i do like my name. my parents almost named me Colleen - which i don’t think fits, but then again i believe that we all grow to fit our names. i hated my last name as a little kid because no one would say it right (an issue that exists today too) and like when i started elementary school i straight up kept the spelling of it on a piece of paper in my pocket so i wouldnt mess up. now i love it and i think my name flows really well and if i get married i might not change it.

5. do you think of yourself as a human being or a human doing? do you identify yourself by the things you do?

well i call myself a human being. and while my actions are important to me, thinking too much about what i do and what i couldve done gets me freaked out so instead i sit and just be. i’ll think calmly and exist

6. are you religious/spiritual?

im agnostic - raised Roman Catholic (but even then we werent strict about following it but i did do ccd and my sacraments so yeah). i want to believe that there is something but there just isnt enough solid evidence for me to be comfortable and if there is some god or force or something, i am a minuscule piece of the massive universe and that god wouldnt give a shit so why should they influence my decisions? i love religions tho. they have fascinating history and i love seeing all the similarites because it just shows how so many humans are all so similarly spiritual and through seeing those similarites it makes me feel more spiritual because i know my catholic upbringing shaped me as a person and i know that there has to be a deeper meaning behind the world’s religions being so connected

7. do you care about your ethnicity?

yes. im fifty shades of white, but the larger pieces of my background are the cultures that my family celebrate still today and they are what i identify as. im italian-irish-american with a polish last name and i will eat my cuisine and wear the Callahan family crest and hopefully make it to Avelino someday

8. what musical artists have you most felt connected to over your lifetime?

i was raised on billy joel and elton john so their music is built into me with such a powerful level of nostalgia that i will feel like im back in my house before we repainted it and replaced the furniture and im dancing like an idiot to crocodile rock at age 4 again. PP and M&S hit my emotions hard since i first heard them, but M&S’s Sigh No More album will forever equal driving to chicago because we played that album and only that album the. whole. time. except at night because thats when billy joel comes out

at the most basic definition yes. i make art for fun and relaxation through music and writing and doodling and crafts

i just want to be content with my life when i die. i want to know that i loved and supported people the best i could. so i guess always put the family first (family being whoever i deem to be in that category). and don’t be an asshole.

The most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey stems from a piece of advice that my mother gave me many years ago. “If you want something, go get it.” I have truly learned the importance of chasing after my dreams and passions, despite what the world may throw. As a momtrepreneur, I have to balance my family and business life and during time of growth that can be difficult. I started with only $200 and continued to reinvest the money into the company so I could obviously grow and offer my followers nicer pieces and sometimes more rare mid century modern designed furniture. And it really took off! We’re primarily an Insta shop, people can come view any item by appointment but we don’t have a retail space or showroom just yet.
