But when I do have motivation/inspiration that's when my perfectionism comes in and I have to do it in the best possible way and anything less is an insult to me, my family, my ancestors and descendants lmaoo. Kay entered the gym to watch her boyfriend play. She tried sneaking in and so far it has been great. She thought she was off the hook but then felt a familiar arms wrapped around her waist. "I found you~" Sugawara said with a smile.

"Okay okay, so what are we doing today?" Kay asked the silver haired male. "Oh~ maybe we can scare Asahi or anyone for that matter with a beetle?" Sugawara suggested. "That's--no," Kay responded.

3 am shenanigans

It’s 3 am in the morning. Almost everyone is fast asleep or in their homes, well almost. The night sky is littered with diamond in the sky. The streets were silent but it was comforting. A few people walked here and there. And a few cars passes by there and here. “What are we doing up so late?” A silver haired man said as he yawned. “We’ll be going to Mc Donald’s! What else?” The female responded as she smiled at him. “Is it even open at this time?” He asked. “Koushi, darling, it is open,” Kay, the lover of our beloved silvered male man said as she smiled. Sugawara chuckled and held her hand, the smile on his face was evident. “You know, we should be sleeping by now right?” He said as he pulled her closer. “And so what? I wasn’t planning on sleeping early! I slept the whole day yesterday and missed the chance to hang out with you,” The girl responded.

A small blush appeared on the male’s face and he giggled. “That’s very sweet bu-“ He was about to say but was silenced by the girl. “That was very sweet but we could’ve done this later on or tomorrow. Well, sorry to break it to you, Love. But, we are here,” She said as she pulled the male inside the fast food chain. And soon enough, the two got their orders and enjoyed their meal. “I don’t know why but this hits different,” Kay said as she eat a French fry. “It really does. Especially since you are here,” Sugawara stated as he patted her head. Now, she was the one blushing. As the two chatted, the other customers and staff glanced at them every now and then. None of them were annoyed at their interactions. On the contrary, they enjoyed watching them,

Some felt envious of their relationship. Some dreamt to have something like that. And others remembered the times of old. The two were so sweet, it’s almost too much. Laughter and chattering echoed through the building from both the couple and the people around them. Then they were dub the “3 am couple” as the two would often venture in that restaurant at 3 am in the morning.

Long OFA Quirk Theory Post, BNHA ch 257 Spoilers

Also I apologize now for anyone on mobile where the read more isn’t working properly and you have to scroll through this whole thing. It got way longer than I intended. I won’t be upset if you block me so you don’t have to see this post anymore lol

Alright so I was really hoping All Might would at least briefly say the quirks of the previous OFA holders he found (or have a quick panel showing them in the notebook or SOMETHING), but sadly we’re gonna have to wait a bit longer I guess...

However, he and Bakugou said the same thing: all of their quirks are relatively weak, since AFO was basically controlling the quirk world and taking all the strong quirks for himself or his “army”

It makes me curious though about how weak the quirks really are. Since idk about yall, but Black Whip seems to be an incredibly strong and versatile quirk (even taking into account that it was weaker back then compared to Midoriya using it now).

We also know that quirks in general get stronger the more generations go by (not just in OFA, we see this in the children the remedial course “fights”), so it makes sense that none of the quirks in OFA are particularly great compared to current times, given that quirks were still developing (tho... like I said before, I really doubt that’s the case. They may be physically weak quirks in combat, but I’m sure Midoriya will find a way to make them all incredibly op).

Another reason why I’m kinda doubting the legitimacy of the whole “they’re all weak quirks” thing is because of what AFO says about Nana. He calls her weak, a useless successor, etc. Now, I suppose having a quirk that lets you fly might seem like a weak quirk. It’s no muscle enhancer, explosions, lazer beams, etc. Though Nana herself was clearly ripped as all hell (like bro I’m so gay wtf)

Ahem, anyways, maybe he was just saying that to taunt All Might, to break his spirit or whatever. Typically evil villain stuff. But also... AFO doesn’t seem to be the type of guy to do that. To just call someone weak even if they weren’t. (altho he also uses a flying quirk, so make of that what you will) BUT ANYWAYS this just leads me to think her quirk was probably the “weakest” out of all the successors he had faced so far. I would probably think the same if the successor 2 people before her had something as interesting as Black Whips.

So what kind of quirks are they? Unfortunately my theories are only based off of their appearances, and AFO. I’ll mention the bit about AFO first, since it feels more solid than the bit about their appearances.

It’s a theory I’m kinda believing less and less with the information we’re being given, but I wonder if AFO could have taken their quirks before they died. Sort of like a way to taunt future holders. Like “haha look I’m using your master’s beloved quirk how does that make you feel.” And I mean, yeah, he can’t take OFA, that much has been established (altho that seems like it’s gonna change soon... hmmm shiggy what you up to?). But what about after they’ve passed OFA on to the next person? They still should have their original quirk, since OFA seems to work kinda like a copy-paste system. So would AFO be able to take it then?

I’ll use Nana as an example. In the short 2ish minute special, All Might Rising, we see Nana’s last fight against AFO. At this point, we know she must have passed the quirk on, because the last thing we really see is her pointing at All Might as Gran Torino carries him away. We don’t actually see her death. There could have been time for AFO to take her quirk. And we know he has some sort of flying quirk, Air Walk, which could have been hers (although we won’t know until the official translation comes out. However the current fan translations are calling Nana’s quirk stuff like Levitate or Hover)

Unfortunately that’s about where that bit of my theory comes to an end. With ch 257 saying the quirks are weak, I doubt AFO would have been using them in his fight with All Might. Gran Torino also mentions his quirks and fighting style were totally different from the last time 6 years ago, so that also kinda tears this theory apart. At least the bit where the quirks we got to see were any of the successors’. He still could have taken them and passed them on to the nomu while he waited for Shigaraki to be able to use them himself.

As for the appearances and quirks themselves... well, we really only have 2 that we can take a guess at. I know people have the time travel theory that Bakugou was the 2nd wielder, but I don’t like that one very much. But that’s a post for another time.

Also, from here it’s really just my opinions, and not a lot of solid or even jello-y theories. Like sand. It’s just a mess. Just a jumble of observations and  ¯\_(:/)_/¯ materialized.

So here’s the closest thing to a full body shot we have of them, the 4th on the left and 6th on the right.

The first one I’m gonna talk about is the 4th holder.

The first thing I noticed are the two marks on his face. They don’t seem like scars or some other kind of injury. They’re not drawn lightly the way Midoriya’s or Todoroki’s scars are, they’re really dark and crisp. So I’m thinking either some kind of tattoo, or (more likely) something to do with their quirk. Sort of going with my AFO theory above, it reminded me a lot of the forced quirk activation quirk he was using, though looking further into his appearance, I don’t think that’s right.

He has very contradicting vibes in my opinion. His clothes make me think something to do with water or wind, or some sort of spiraling energy like Nejire’s. But based on his face, body, and stance, I would lean more towards a physical quirk. He seems like a solid dude. Originally, I had believed he had a wind type quirk (thinking about Inasa’s appearance, he felt similar somehow), but now that Nana’s quirk is confirmed to be some kind of flying ability, it feels like having a wind quirk (that could also theoretically make you fly) would erase the point of Nana’s, and I doubt Horikoshi would want Midoriya to have quirks similar to each other, thus limiting how badass he could be (and lets be honest, this is a shonen jump manga. protags gotta be as op as possible, especially in a series like this which just SCREAMS the very essence of shonen manga. not that I’m complaining btw, I love op characters)

So anyways, I’m currently at a loss for this guy, the only other hint I feel like we have for his quirk is the color associated with him in OFA, blue, which doesn’t help much, seeing how the 5th with Black Whip is red and Nana’s with flying is yellow(? can’t really remember)... None of it seems related

Which leaves us with the second wielder we know little about, the 6th user.

And let’s be honest, there isn’t much to work with here either. Since I just mentioned associated colors, I’ll just point out right away his color is a purplish-blue. So do with that what you will. (I’m going to get into it in a moment, but I theorize a mental/kinetic-type quirk for this guy. Purple is maybe associated a bit more with kinetic-type abilities? idk look at Shinsou)

Appearance-wise, I definitely get a more mental based quirk. He’s kinda small, seems reserved, so that’s just my gut feeling. You can see some bandages around his arms, though, which might mean... something? Perhaps it has to do with his quirk, maybe he just got injured (maybe he got injured because of his quirk..? hmmm)

Honestly, his appearance just reminds me of Kageyama from Haikyuu!!, so my brain keeps unhelpfully jumping back to that, making it hard to come up with good stuff for him. If I had to guess at random, I wanna say pyrokinesis. This is partially because of a long-winded, very very VERY unlikely theory that he could be related to Nana who could VERY UNLIKELY be related to Inko, so ya know, probably some big family tree of kinetic-type abilities (since, assuming AFO isn’t his dad, which is a theory I’m a big fan of, it would be possibly pretty emotional for Midoriya, seeing how it COULD have been his quirk if he were born with one, since it’s a good mix of his mom and dad’s quirks) The other reason is just cause I thought it’d be cool. lol.

Though to be fair, part of that “it would be cool” has to do with the idea of “how op can Midoriya get?” which involves having a large range of abilities to be able to be effective in any situation. so far he has super strength as the base of OFA (which is always good in a fist fight), restraining with Black Whip, and eventually mobility with Hover. It would make sense for him to also have more rescue-type abilities, seeing how so far most of his skills are geared towards fighting rather than saving, which is the opposite of Midoriya’s personality. So I thought of natural disasters: earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, floods, mudslides, and volcanoes are listed as common disasters in Japan, and fires are more-or-less common anywhere. So having an ability that would be beneficial in those situations would be ideal, such as pyrokinesis to stop a fire, or something like hydro/aquakinesis to rescue those in a flood/tsunami.

Sooooo tldr I have no idea what the fuck their quirks could be but I love to theorize random shit so please come talk to me because I’m bored and dying for more content so I’m doing all I can to keep sane while I continuously wait for more updates :)))))

Not like I think they had much basis to begin with though...

He’s still pretty pale from the drugs and the track marks on his arms again from the drugs. He has a few tattoos as well mostly of animals

What does your OC normally wear? What would your OC wear on a special night?

Well he’s in the army so his normal combat gear or a pair of joggers and an oversized t-shirt/hoodie. Ethan’s not one for formal wear he’s very casual, owns multiple pairs of black skinny jeans that are a little big on him and plaid shirts with a t-shirt underneath are his go too

What is one word you would use to describe your OC’s appearances?

Ordinary (assuming this means the way he dresses)

He has a couple of scars from bullet wounds and knife scars but the most notable is the ‘Ramsey’s attack dog’ that is carved into the left side of his torso. He has a tattoo on his left forearm of a big black wolf holding a union jack flag and a spitfire plane tattooed on his other forearm, he has a bunch of other tattoos just dotted round but those two are the most notable ones

How does your OC talk/what does your OC’s voice sound like?

He’s from Liverpool but isn’t conventional, he doesn’t have the typical scouse accent, but other brits can still tell where he’s from  

What does your OC’s bedroom look like?  His/her living area?

On base his room isn’t overly decorated, a few posters and books. In Thatcher’s house is like a normal bedroom, posters, figures, Xbox, pained a dark blue. It’s a loft room so the ceiling is slanted with the roof but there’s a window on the slanted roof which he enjoys because he can smoke in his room and it leaves nice colours in his room at sunset. He’s got a double bed and nice tv to go along with the Xbox and he’s eternally grateful to his dad.

His mum was murdered brutally on Ramsey’s orders, they weren’t that close

His birth dad is the same as his mum, was later adopted by Thatcher, they have a great relationship even if they bicker a lot

Birth family he had one sister named Laura they have never had a good relationship and it was only made worse with their parents’ deaths

Until he was 11 Ethan had a pretty normal childhood that’s when everything went to shit with (unknowingly) joining the syndicate

What is your OC’s strongest childhood memory? Why and how as that impacted him/her?

With it saying childhood I’m gonna say from before aged 11, Ethan’s not sure if it’s a memory or something his brain came up with after being told the story but when he was 4 he nearly fell down the gap between the train and the platform edge. He was dangling in that gap for a good few seconds as his mum ha a hold of his hand, but she was also holding a bunch of bags and couldn’t pull him completely out. A stranger grabbed Ethan and lifted him out, ever since then he’s been terrified of the gap between trains and platforms and makes sure people stay far away from the yellow line at the station. If people don’t it can send him into a full blown panic attack

What is your OC’s imagination like?

Hes a bit of a daydreamer but most of what he thinks is his revenge against Ramsey. With his drawings they are mostly vent art or drawings of the other ops

Never moved, his family lived in a poor as shit area and couldn’t afford to move

His ability to control his anger, Ethan knows what effect the things they have both experienced can damage the control of anger and violence. Bandits restraint is a great thing and how he can turn it into harmless pranks

Anger is what he handles the worst he can have severe violent breakdowns but he’s learned how to control it for the most part but that will only last so long

He shuts down, you won’t get a response from him at all, it then turns destructive and after that he grieves normally, cries and tries his very best to move on from it. The most grief he’s experienced so far was from the murder of his parents and the only thing that could make him go through that extreme sort of grief again would be the death of one of the SAS or Bandit

Torture, dehumanisation, body mutilation, he was in a brutal crime syndicate he’s seen so much at a very young age

While he feels guilty for everything he done he doesn’t really feel bad for the victims, they were rivals and other criminals and he thinks what he done was mostly justified in his very black and white view on innocent and guilty. Also, he knows a lot more than what he told the police when he negotiated

If you’re innocent you’re innocent, if you’re guilty it doesn’t matter what happens to you as long as you’re dealt with. However, his view of his is guilty is towards the real scum bags not just like people caught with drugs or imprisoned for petty stuff

His ingrained nature to protect an seeing how easy it is for situations to go south, very much a ‘if I don’t save them then who will’ along with obviously the supportive people he has around him

What is the health of your OC?

He’s not exactly a health freak, he enjoys drinking just a little bit too much and enjoys smoking weed, he did smoke cigarettes but with advice from sledge he got an electric cigarette instead. He eats pretty much whatever he wants not thinking too much about it (until he gets food poisoning or some shit) so not in the best of shape but he’s not out of shape either with his profession it’s hard to be out of shape and still meet expectations

Does your OC think with his/her head or heart?

A bit of both, outside of missions/training he thinks with his heart

What are your OC’s thoughts on death?

His own death doesn’t phase him, he’s come close more than once and he knows its gonna happen one day, so he accepts it

His situational awareness and skill with knives, anger management, never give up attitude

What are some of your OC’s weaknesses?

How much he cares for others, it can be too much and lead to him making impulsive choices, his trouble with forgiving people like the whole lion situation on a good day he’ll be civil with Olivier but on others not so much so he just tries to avoid Oli as much as possible, he’s also still weary about the other GIGN ops after the whole incident even though he loves the others he hasn’t forgotten the looks on their faces during the stand off and the choice words that were exchanged

How does your OC take criticism?

Not well he finds it a bit degrading and will struggle to see where he went wrong because he’s usually pretty good at pointing out his own flaws and failures

He struggles with having an identity like he’s not really sure who he is, what type of person he is, but even still he has a very negative viewpoint of himself with how little he actually understands

Snarky little kid who needs to cheer up a bit

Not very unless they become close, the people who he’s vulnerable with the most is thatcher followed closely by bandit, but they are working on that

Hey OP do you mind if I add onto this? Because I love your headcanons and I have Thoughts™

I totally agree on Jigen hiding his tattoos, but that might also be for cultural/practical reasons: in Japan, tattoos are especially badly regarded because they're associated with the yakuza and crime in general (the history behind it is fascinating). Among other things, he'd be banned from most onsens, which sucks :(

(Btw going to an onsen with your boss, colleagues or business partners is a pretty popular team building activity and business meeting activity in Japan, like sharing a pint or playing golf is in Western cultures. So it's very likely that they all see each other naked regularly. Just thought y'all would want to know ^^)

I've personally always headcanonned Jigen to have rather colourful tattoos, linked to his Japanese roots - especially if he grew up in the States like canon seems to suggest, it would be a way to keep in touch with his family's culture. Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if he got a full back or full body suit yakuza-style tattoo when he was young, 1) because they look cool as shit, and 2) because of his cultural roots; before realizing (too late) that it would cause him a lot of problems in Japan. For me, they're not the result of drunk impulse decisions, but a conscious decision to get them (granted, when he was still a teen or young adult).

Regarding Goemon not asking because it's personal, I'd go as far as saying that Goemon at first was pretty judgemental of Jigen's tattoos, because of the aforementioned link to criminality - granted, they're all criminals, but tattoos are seen as a sign that delinquents and yakuza use to show off and flaunt their power; and Goemon being a traditionalist, he'd be much more sensible to that kind of things than, say, Fujiko. He would eventually understand the emotional meaning behind these tattoos and why they're so important to Jigen, it's just that there would be a big shift in perspective for him.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of Lupin coloring in Jigen's tattoos. I actually had a similar thought with a wacky tattoo artist/flower shop AU I developed a while ago. I have some pretty well set ideas for what Jigen's tattoos are, namely a phoenix*, and white chrysanthemums (and possibly other stuff I haven't determined yet). White chrysanthemums, in Europe and more generally western culture, are a symbol of mourning, and death (humhum sniper assassin humhum); whereas in Japan chrysanthemums in general represent joy, and white ones carry the idea of loyalty and honesty (HUMHUM RIGHT HAND MAN OF LUPIN). Jigen, being Japanese and having grown up in the States, would be sensitive to the double meaning. The thing is, yellow chrysanthemums feature heavily in Japanese traditional imagery, it is a symbol of the emperor, the current symbol of Japan (present on official seals and on passports), and is linked to solar imagery and thus represent feelings of joy and happiness. I kinda had the idea of Jigen having his white chrysanthemum tattoos colored in yellow later in life (character development, symbolism, and all that jazz); but now I like even more the idea of Lupin just absentmindedly coloring them with markers, and Jigen trying very hard not to show how much the symbolism hit him. He doesn't like to talk about the meanings of his tattoos, and usually just says "I got them because I thought they looked cool". I think Lupin has probably figured it out by himself.

*The phoenix tattoo derives from my hc that Jigen is trans, phoenixes in Japanese and Chinese mythology are a symbol of masculinity, and there's also the obvious rebirth symbolism.

Another idea (still yoinked from the AU) was that Jigen started getting an irezumi tattoo back when he was still young and living in the States. Irezumi is the traditional Japanese technique of tattooing, and is particularly long and painful; a full back tattoo can take several years to be completed (idk if there are irezumi artists in the USA, probably not many, but for the purpose of this headcanon, Jigen found one). Anyways, shit hit the fan and Jigen had to leave the country before the tattoo was completed, so he has an outlined and partially colored irezumi tattoo on his back. And possibly gets it completed later in life, with new imagery and symbolism reflecting how his life has changed since he's met Lupin and the Gang.

Jigen has tattoos

Like many others, I like to believe that Jigen has a few tattoos here and there, Most of them being black and white and If they do have any color they’re very saturated/opaque. (We all know he dislikes bright colors that might call others attention)

I believe that he simply dislikes showing them since he got them when he was very young and stupid (and probably drunk), but like usual there will always be a situation that will require him to undress and let his tattoos be seen. Something that tends to catch the attention of his friends. Yeah, sure they’ve seen the tattoos from afar, but it’s rare when he let’s them inspect them and actually see what the tattoo is, instead of constantly moving and not giving them the opportunity to figure it out. 

Sure, they can simply ask him what the tattoo is or what they mean, but most of them have to much pride to show that they are interested (CoughCoughFujikoCoughCough) or simply know that in this line of work is best to not ask about something so personal (Goemon thinks tattoos are personal, so why would he even dare ask?) but if one of them where to actually be brave enough to ask, like Lupin, they would only a response with as little words as possible or a “I forgot why I even got it” followed by an excuse as to why he has to leave the room.

Fun fact:

Lupin is the only one to have manages to inspect most, if not all of Jigen’s tattoos, most of the time it’s been because he’s had to bandage up the gunman an awful lot of times. 

Fun fact 2:

Lupin has spend a lot of hours coloring in Jigen’s tattoos out of boredom, resulting in a grumpy Jigen when he realizes the monkey man has been using permanent markers instead of the washable ones.

‘Sit still,’ the surgeon orders, trying to be stern and failing - Law’s chest heaves with short breaths, his voice still hoarse, weak with exhaustion. Wounds inflict various parts of his body in high numbers: cuts layer across his face like constellations in the sky, caked with dried blood and continuing down his skin, leading to the broader expanse of his chest. A breeze filters through, ruffling the fabric of Law’s coat, opening it further; Luffy mentally traces the path of injury, bruises and holes covered in dirt and haphazard bandaging.

Careful, meticulous fingers press lightly to Luffy’s ribs. Nimble yet precise, Law is like a ghost, his touch barely lingering long enough to leave an imprint on Luffy’s skin as he works through what Luffy imagines an exam is like. He’s only ever been to a doctor on the verge of death, so it’s different with Law. There’s more care and less panic, more time and space for doctors to do whatever it was doctors did. To Luffy, it was more or less a lot of prodding and scolding, but at least he is entertained. Law provided Luffy with enough curiosity to keep him still for at least an hour, even if he was going to be poked at the whole time.

‘Torao,’ Luffy mutters, actively trying breathe as little as possible to maintain his posture. Law doesn’t look up and for a moment Luffy thinks he doesn’t hear him. His eyes narrowed suspiciously and he places his palm to Luffy’s diaphragm, pushing gently. As if Law had flipped a switch, Luffy hisses with pain, bending over at the waist and resting his head between his legs. Law’s hand remains at his frame, keeping Luffy in place like an anchor. Tears swell in Luffy’s eyes and he exhales deeply, pushing against Law. The pain ebbs away slowly in pulses, beating through his senses until Luffy can see clearly again, the wooden floorboards of the Sunny coming into focus one at a time.

‘Straw Hat?’ he finally answers, pulling Luffy up. His body bends like the rubber it is and falls backwards, the strength to sit up straight and hold himself up escaping him. He much preferred his hammock in the boy’s quarters, but the stiff infirmary mattress provides enough support to keep Luffy propped up at roughly the right angle to be able to see what Law was doing.

‘You lied, Straw hat,’ and Luffy wants to roll his eyes, roll over and probably roll away from Law, but he’s right. He lied. ‘One of your ribs is broken.’

‘It isn’t even that bad,’ Luffy whines, tugging on his vest. Law glares at him, their faces inches apart, and Luffy can make out the dark circles under his eyes, can place old scars and imperfections. ‘It didn’t even hurt until you did that.’

Law raises a finger threateningly and Luffy laughs, curling his body into himself and protecting his side. He risks a glance in Law’s direction and is rewarded with a errant smirk, something small and crooked but undeniably a smile. ‘I don’t want to ask you again, Straw Hat. Sit still.’

Reluctantly, Luffy stretches out once more, moving only when Law reapplies his fingers to Luffy’s skin, this time concentrating on the area of injury. Luffy doesn’t know exactly what to expect, but when the surgeon leaves for the room and returns with clean bandages and tape, Luffy is skeptical.

‘Can’t you just fix me? Say room or something and make everything better?’

‘Are you in a hurry to get rid of me, Straw Hat?’

Luffy pouts and leans forward at Law’s request, shaking his head to answer. ‘No, but Torao, can’t you do this an easier way? With the ope ope fruit?’

Pausing, Law bends his head to inspect Luffy one more time before wrapping him in cloth. Coarse hair brushes against Luffy’s skin and he looks down, staring at the exposed skin on the back of Law’s neck. Faint traces of black ink surface just above his sweater and Luffy has to check himself; his fingers twitch with the odd sensation of controlling himself and it’s a testament to how much Luffy cares about being permitted to be around Law, to experience a proximity that others are most likely denied.

It’s a different feeling entirely, for a boy who, when not given what he wanted, took what he wanted. Luffy wanted everything on this planet that didn’t hurt anyone - nobody could deny him exploration, treasures and wonders that required nothing but an open mind and brave face to obtain.

He wants to touch Law; it’s almost not fair that the surgeon could place his hands over Luffy now, regardless of his healing intentions.

‘No,’ and Law’s voice interrupts Luffy’s thoughts. His hand ceases above Law’s neck and his doctor moves again, carefully adding another layer to Luffy’s bandages. ‘I mean, I can, but the energy it would expend is more than I can afford right now. The old fashioned way is going to have to do.’

Luffy tilts his head in confusion, eager to try and glean something from Law’s expression but his face is hidden behind Luffy’s back, still gently pressing at his skin. ‘I don’t understand. If that was the case why couldn’t Chopper do it?’

‘Didn’t you lie when your ship doctor asked about your injuries?’

Oh yeah

Declining to respond, Luffy settles back in his bed, shutting his eyes to the bright light that filtered above him.

It definitely wasn’t fair, Luffy decides, resting his hands behind his head.

Zoro let Luffy touch him whenever he pleased, whether it was to harass him during times of boredom or inspect his scars, deep fissures of warped muscle that endlessly eluded Luffy. He had his own scars, of course, but there was something about the blemishes of his crew that Luffy had to own, to take responsibility for.

Usopp and Chopper enjoyed giving affection as much receiving it, taking small measures of comfort and love in whatever ways that they could. Sanji was rare in his physical gestures, but they were present in the meals he served, laced with kindness and love. If Nami touched anyone it was to cuddle Chopper or smack Brook, but still, Luffy could find passion in her motives, regardless of purpose.

Luffy mentally tallied through his crew, accounting for the meaning behind their gestures. Comfort, safety, family and love - did Law have these things with his own crew, back on that strange submarine? Did he want them?

Peeling an eye open, Luffy watches Law pin the last of his bandages together. His sweater had continued to slip, revealing much more of the tattoos that Luffy is still so curious about. Luffy’s hand moves of its own accord this time and the pirate is barely conscious of his decision; just a touch, Luffy thinks, wondering what Law’s skin will feel like under his palm.

‘Straw Hat,’ Law starts and Luffy freezes, hand lingering again. ‘Was there anything else that hurt? Be honest this time.’

‘Can I touch you?!’ Luffy blurts out, his makeshift control slipping through the very fingertips that wanted nothing more than to trace the lines of ink on Law’s skin.

Confusion erupts across Law’s face in blotches of red, the high line of his cheekbones tinted rose. Luffy hardly notices it and leans forward unconsciously, his nose centimeters from Law’s face.

‘Just once! It’ll be quick, I promise! You can close your eyes if you want to.’

‘I don’t see how this matters - ‘

‘Please!’

For a moment it looks like Law is going to argue more, with his mouth pulled tight into a frown and gaze dark. Crestfallen, Luffy drops his hand but it falls directly into Law’s grip; Luffy looks up with a smile but Law already has his eyes shut, his brow furrowed and cheeks still red.

His breath caught in chest, Luffy reaches gently, eying the apex of the Law’s chest, specifically where his tattoo spans across his sternum. Like a child, Luffy presses one finger to the surgeon’s skin, delighted when he can feel goosebumps where his finger landed. Law breathes heavily, his breath warm on Luffy’s skin; he uses his other hand to touch Law’s lower lip, careful to not graze the bruising at the corner of his mouth. Thick eyelashes curl against Law’s cheek and Luffy curses himself; why couldn’t he grow more hands like Robin, so he could touch as much of Law as he wanted without ever letting go?

‘Torao,’ Luffy whispers, an errant thumb rubbing Law’s cheek. ‘Torao, you’re so pretty!’

Law only clenches his eyes tighter, wrinkling the span of skin across his nose and cheeks. ‘3 more seconds, Straw Hat.’ he growls and Luffy relents, a soft smile glued to his face.

Next time, Luffy thinks, watching Law wash his hands. Next time he was going to get much more time.
