Hi!
I hope I'm not bothering you and I hope you can help answer this question. If not, totally fine and I'm sorry to have busted into your asks but I've just been seeing a lot of people freaking out about Buck going to be dating this Death Dula person and I'm just wondering where that's all coming from? Why is everyone convinced he's going to date this person? Is it written somewhere?
Thank you for your time and apologies if this isn't something you usually do!
Hi lovely!
Of course you're not bothering me, but thank you for being so sweet and considerate! *hugs*
Ah, the death doula. I think it's a combination of the words used in the synopsis for her ep (that Buck is attracted to her), as well as the promo we've seen, where she also seems very intrigued by him, and the fact that we have a BTS pic where the actress is seen in a dress.
Does all of this mean that for sure they'll be dating? IDK. I wouldn't dismiss it, although if it does happen, I am gonna die laughing over the fact that once again Eddie and Buck's dating is intertwined. Just a reminder, we saw that happening when Eddie got involved with Shannon again in 207, then Buck let go of Abby in the same ep and started seeing Taylor and dating Ali in the next one, 208. Then they spent ALL of s3 single. One of them could be dating, but no, they were both happy on their own. In s4, Eddie bumps into Ana by chance and starts dating again in 406, while Buck tries to start dating again (Veronica) in the very next ep (407) and then he bumps into Taylor, clearly with the intent to have them dating eventually, in the following one, 408. In s5, Buck and Eddie's break ups served as the season's bookends (Eddie's as a part of the three ep opening of the season, Buck's in the finale), and they nudged each other into ending these respective relationships. So if we have Buck and Eddie start dating just one ep apart again, I'm gonna find it HILARIOUS.
I hope this helps? Have a beautiful day! As always, my ask tag. xoxox

What were your fav and least fav moments in season 3 <3
Ok so (spoilers below the cut)
Faves:
Rafe. Literally Rafe. He was just so funny and such a little shit and one of my favorite things about the season
Riara!!! I loved their interactions so much and when he was like "I always liked you Kie" I went what is actually happening right now cause 😭
Jiara! They hurt so good tbh. The difficult and angsty scenes between them were needed imo. I knew it wasn't going to be smooth sailing and it was difficult watching the way her parents treated him and basically threw his own fears about him and kie in his face and my God the self sabotage was driving me insane and they kept highlighting the differences in their classes but they were cute
Cleo. Literally just Cleo but especially her and Pope. I was surprised by how much I loved them because it seemed like OBX was like yeah let's put the two leftover black characters together but unfortunately they were right and they were cute. Hashtag black love I guess 😭
Cleo and JJ. Not what you think. Cleo's genuine fascination with JJ was hilarious to watch. It was like every time he opened his mouth she'd look at him like he was the most bizarre and mind stumping creature she'd ever met. Also them being two sides of the same coin and equally chaotic was everything
Ward dying!!! I rejoiced so loud it was embarrassing
John B reuniting with his dad but the buck stops there (see least fave things for more)
Y'all gone hate me for this one but I was actually here for Sarah and Tooper? And I do not know why tbh. Can't even tell you. Definitely don't hate her and John B. I think I just enjoyed the drama of it all.
Rafe and Barry. Loved seeing the murder boyfriend together again.
Just the mere knowledge that Rafe was getting it in. Good for him. Good for Sophia.
Rafe and Rose fighting. That was very hilarious to me. "You missed"
Everyone looked great
That motorcycle thing JJ did that made my Kitty purr
Topper going off the deep end in a jealous rampage
Pope telling Rafe it's not over like yeah. I look forward to round 4
Kelce 😭 I actually missed him
Topper helping them steal the "cross" like what was he even doing there? It was so funny to me because you have the whole gang and then...topper 😭
Rafe almost choking his dad out. That was great. Also when he almost killed him. That was a moment
Friar Cameron
Least fave:
WARD. FUCKING WARD. I wanted him OUTTA THERE from day one. How he managed to be so self righteous while sucking so bad I do not know
The fact that Rafe didn't kill ward. That was highly disappointing but alas
Big John. Just a horrible father. Found myself wishing he'd stayed missing.
They were putting the boys THROUGH it my gawd. Idk if they were like yeah we tortured tf out of Sarah last season so this season let's make it even. I mean Pope finding out Rafe melted the cross? Almost going on a villain arc? JJ having no home and nowhere to go and being treated like shit by Kie's dad? John B almost dying? Being forced to be an accessory to murder? Getting cheated on while literally going through hell? My goodness
The show is TV MA so how tf you're going to show Sophia waking up in Rafe's bed half naked and show Rafe getting dressed but don't show us what went down in said bed. Why am I watching Sarah and John B about to do the so but I can't get a crumb for Rafe?
Really wanted to see Rafe give Sophia that tour. No I won't shutup about it
Kie's parents. It's amazing how I found myself thinking they'd grown on me because surely it's hard trying to be a parent to Kie with everything going on but then they just weren't listening to her at all and literally forcibly shipping her off was sooo. And then for them to be celebrating their discovery at the end like they didn't doubt her and JJ the whole time was so ugh

tangent that i was going to include in the tags of my last post but it got wayyy too long
the only thing i've really been able to gather of Estradasphere's political leanings is that they Really didn't like Bush lol, which hey thats a point in my book but they never specifically said why. not that they needed to. they were a deeply unserious band who bonded over their love of glam metal and soap operas they were never really about Sending A Message or anything. John was the only member of the band who was outspoken about anything, and he seems to have been leftleaning buuuut in a lukewarm pacifist ''why cant we all just get along, peace and love, bring our soldiers home'' way which i find kinda spineless IMO... at least he condemned the aids crisis?? he only started making more political music after he left estradasphere though i wouuuld say "well hey at least they werent bigots then yippee!" buuuut there were some aspects that were... well OK i wouldn't really call esphere straight up bigoted but there were some pretty distasteful things they did that i've had to reckon with. the stereotypical "native american-esque" chanting on A Very Intense Battle done by a white guy, for one and also the explicitly racist spoken word clips before and after it which Are definitely satirical, but ... idk i feel like the whole "rural america sucks, parts of this country are so backwards!" theme of Buck Fever is kinda immature, especially coming from a bunch of white californians lol. like, as someone from alabama i do get the sentiment i guess, the south does suck sometimes, but idano, it's not handled with any of the seriousness or sensitivity that such a topic probably deserves, is all. that's not even my main issue with them, though - it's the constant use of the g slur. like. come on. i'm admittedly not sure if it was widely considered a slur yet back then but it does still make it kinda cringeworthy to look at and share their old promotional materials nowadays (they mostly used it to describe their sound; romani music was a huge influence for them). also i won't mirror it here but tim makes a joke that's Sort Of Racist I Think(?) about romani people in the passion for life dvd commentary and timb agrees with it... argh. to jack their shit and then turn around and disparage them... argh. but you could make a case that they know better now - they Could have used the g slur to describe the sound of the high castle teleorkestra album but they say eastern european / romani folk music instead which is nice. i dunno, i don't think it'd be productive to #Cancel estradasphere 15-20 years after the fact ofcourse but i guess i just wanted to document somewhere my Struggle in reconciling my unfathomably deep love for the band with the fact that theyve done some shitty things. even after saying all this estradasphere is still my favorite band ever and buck fever is still my favorite album ever. idk, i don't think the whole mindset online of not wanting to listen to any problematic artists is healthy
i didn't even mention the gay/bi jokes they'd occasionally make and the fact that they'd say faggot when covering money for nothing (and the crossdressing which was Probably implicitly intended as a joke) but thats because i genuinely find that shit hilarious im not offended by it at all

Ok. I saw THE episode.
Whoa.
Best episode of the Season so far. Maybe one of the show’s overall best. What I loved:
- The way Buck is once again amazing at calming down two scared children. I mean I‘m not a parent-y Person, but that man is so Dad-shaped it melts my heart.
- May and Athena undercover!!! I was LIVING for May‘s sarcastic addict performance. She clearly has her mom‘s investigation-genes. And I love that they are supporting Bobby in investigating his sponsor‘s death.
- I still hate the Buckley Parents but I do like that there is some kind of progress. Don‘t get me wrong I think cutting ties with bad parents is totally legit and I hope Maddie and Buck always Keep them at an arm‘s lenght. But I do like that there seems to be some kind of healing going on and I hope it will bring Maddie and Buck more peace of mind in the long run. (Bobby and Athena are still Buck‘s parents and the 118 is his found family, Zero doubts there.)
- Albert being back!!! Even though I wish he hadn‘t brought his dad. But maybe it will be good for Chim to finally tell his father how angry and hurt he really is.
- Buck‘s smile after his conversation with Maddie on a world where Daniel hadn‘t died. It was so short and yet had so many layers. Buck looks so content in this moment. As if, yes, life isn‘t perfect and his biological family is Even further from perfect, but he has Maddie and Chim and his niece and his 118 family and life is good anyway. Idk the smile did something to my heart.
- Mom-Hen. I just like her. And I hope Danny comes clean about his Dad soon and they can find a good patchwork solution that works for everyone and makes Danny feel happy, loved and protected.
- Hen saying That Karen Lobes surprises but the definitely does not. (Same, Hen. Same.)
- Athena worrying about Bobby. I just love those two so much.
- Buck offering to listen to Bobby and really actively being there for him. It is just the essence of Buck and I‘m so here for it.
- THE. CHILLI. CONVERSATION. I mean…it had me smirk with tears in my eyes. Peak Television. They are father and son, your honor. (And I prefer to put very dark chocolate in my Chilli instead of coacoa powder. But you do you, Bobby.)
- The way the pregnant Woman on the Uber was hilarious before the Crash. I love me some light-Heartedness in the darkness.
-And then: All the foreshadowing in the episode. Buck going up instead of Chimney. ‚Go get them, Cowboy‘. ‚What is that?‘ (A THUNDERSTORM, you adorable dumbass), THE SILENCE After Buck gets hit by lightning. Eddie struggling back to his feet. Buck dangling up there. The disbelief on everyone‘s faces. Eddie screaming Buck‘s name in growing desperation. ‚Come here, kid‘, Chimney forgetting Medical facts because this is Buck and Buck can‘t be in cardiac Arrest, ‚Eddie, You’re driving‘, Eddie’s desperate ‚Talk to me, Buck!‘ (IS THIS ANOTHER TOP GUN REFERENCE After ‚you can have my back anyday- or you know, you could have mine’? Is this a ‚Talk to me, Goose‘?!? I HAVE QUESTIONS), the immense shooting / Eddie trapped Below the ground Parallels!!!
- Stellar Performances all around!
This Episode has WRECKED me. My Heart hurt so much for Buck and for all of them. I am seriously worried for Bobby. It‘s going to be so difficult for him. A Part of me hopes That there might be some Buddie-Realization on the Horizon for both Eddie and Buck. (I love them both as bffs and as a ship and I think both interpretations are equally valid even though I would prefer a Potential bisexual slowburn on a popular Show actually becoming canon).
I am excited to See how Eddie will Deal with his emotions. How the Team, Maddie and Athena will Support each other through this. Who will sit watch at Buck‘s side. What Cheistopher will say. If Eddie will Talk to Coma-Buck and be angry with hin for Not Waking up. What Coma-Buck will experience. It‘s…the storyline is so sad and so intriguing and has so many layers. 911 did it again and I love it.
I‘m so glad Fox already gave us some pictures of Oliver still being on Set. I would have seriously worried if they are going to kill Buck otherwise.

ಠ_ಠ concern xd
Uhh ohhh
That's gonna be wild xD
It's gonna definitely be interesting fr
That's the end of my last thoughts! Now it's time for the. . .
REVIEW
I loved this episode! I thought it was super fun :D, but it also has a bunch of drama :O. It was good drama though :). Buck's storyline was just hilarious the whole time XD, Maddie's was o.o, and Hen's was :OO!! XD And also a bit of o.o lol. And Bobby and Athena's was cute 🥰. Anyway, I loved all the storylines! I thought they were great :). Plus, the calls were interesting :D! I'm also glad they weren't too tragic lol.
Also, fair warning everything after "drama though :)" was written today - day of the next episode xd. Yes, again, I know, but that means that this will probably be shorter - I have the free time during rehearsal today, I just don't remember all the details lol. Anyway! Continuing :).
Now for the individual parts!
Chim! We didn't see too much of him, but what he did was great :D. Maddie was mostly central to their storyline, but Chimney was there too and he was great :). I love him 🥰. And I'm glad everything worked out lol xd. Also, he was great at his job :D.
Athena and Bobby! Their running thing was so cute :D. I love these idiots so much lol 🥰🥰. And they were both great at their jobs :D. I'm not sure we saw Athena, but I'm sure she was. Anyway, we didn't see them too much this episode, but they were both great :). Also the dinner scene with Madney was great :D.
Maddie! She SLAYED :D. I'm so glad they figured out what was happening with that lady. Also even if she wasn't running a scam and using them for it, it would just be weird to walk into somebody's house like that xd. Anyway, luckily they caught her >:). Maddie was amazing 🥰🥰. I love her so much :D. And, since this wasn't quite her job, I'm sure she did great at that too :).
Buck and Eddie! Buck's powers were so hilarious XD. Also the fact that, of the examples we saw, he used them almost exclusively to help Eddie and Chris xD. I'm sure it won't last, but it was hilarious lol. And the POKER SCENE XDD. Don't even get me started lol. Plus the math homework, and the bets XD. It was just fun all around :). Too bad he's been banned from poker though lol. Although maybe he can go again when he's not super good at math XD. Who knows if he'd be any good, but still lol. Anyway, he was great lol. I love him 🥰. And so was Eddie, of course. I love him :DD. And they were both great at their jobs! Also, of course: BUDDIEEEEE!!! THOSE BUDDIE MOMENTS!!!! AAHHHHH I SWEARRRR!! THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL US!!! XD Anyway, lovely <3.
Hen and Karen! OOF. This is where the real drama this episode came from xd. Maddie was dealing with that lady, but this plot was just o.o. I felt so bad for them all 😭😭. Also I'm glad that Hen's mom managed to bring them back together :DD. So glad she saw both sides 🥰. The argument(s) was/were tough (catching me over here screaming and sobbing xd), but we made it through :'). And I'm glad Denny gets to keep seeing his bio dad <33. And I am glad he's okay :). Hen finding out about it all in the hospital was crazy though xD. Also that last scene was a POWER MOVE!! Well not literally but my point is it slayed :)). The whole "our son, our rules" - idk, it just vibed :). Anyway, the emotions were real this episode 😭, but it ended up okay :). I'm sure we'll hear more about this in the future, though. Anyway, I love them :')). Hen was great at her job 🥰. And I'm sure Karen was as well lol.
Overall, I really enjoyed this episode! I thought it was great :D. It had some great comedy moments, but also a bunch of drama o.o. It was a good balance! The main storylines were great 🥰, and the calls were cool too :))! I'm a bit nervous for next time o.o - it looks crazy lol. I am curious about the personal plotlines though - if I remember correctly we really only saw calls! Huh, interesting :D. But it appears to be the return of Ravi! I think I've heard that, but when I looked up the episodes I think I remember seeing him in the picture :). So, YAYY!!! Hopefully he is back :D. Anyway! This episode was great :). I'm glad everything worked out for the most part! Though I must say I'm curious to know how long Buck's math power will last xD. And of course, BUDDIEEEE!!! Always a win :D xD.
So yeah! I loved this episode, I thought it was great. I'm a bit nervous for next time! This has been my review of. . .
9-1-1, Season 6, Episode 13: Mixed Feelings
It was really good! I'm a little scared for the next episode, but I'm excited too. I'll be back next week for my review of. . .
9-1-1, Season 6, Episode 14: Performance Anxiety
See you next week!

Can I just say I am in LOVE with the Teacher Jon AU. Just,, imagine the absolutely ABSURD things his students could find out about him. Imagine the shenanigans.
Love thinking about the bizarre answers he could give to their questions
“Mr. Sims how did you burn your hand?” “Let's just say I shook hands with someone who had a very firm grip.”
“How did you get all those weird holey scars?" “...worms.”
“What was it like working at that Magnus place?” *small smile* “Hell. Anyway back to the lesson-”
“Did you know you were a suspect in a murder?” “I was aware, yes." “And..did you kill someone?” “I mean, I didn't kill her.”
And I know people have talked about this before but think how hilarious it would be for both his friends & the avatars to have a blast bugging him at school.
Martin shows up all the time of course, all the students love him. He's on the pta even though he doesn't have a kid there. Everyone is a little confused though since he seems so nice and normal when Jon is so...not
Daisy will come by to pick him up sometimes, the kids are mostly scared of her but think she's really cool. Everyone is confused as to how this tall strong butch lady is bffs with their tiny stick-thin English teacher but it's amusing all the same.
Melanie and Georgie found out early on that bugging Jon at work annoys him so they come all the time and think it's HILARIOUS. All the students who are What the Ghost fans freak out. They love telling students New Mysterious Facts about Jon that makes them even more curious about him
Helen will pop in out of nowhere and Jon just facepalms like “what are YOU doing here” “oh, you know, just checking up on you!!” she makes a lot of jokes and probably scares some of the students and has a great time
Oliver randomly shows up one day, sticks his head in like ‘oh hey Jon what’s up’ says some vaguely ominous things, and leaves. Jon is very confused. He came because Helen payed him fifty bucks to do so
Are there any other like. Living avatars?? I can’t think of any, that is sad
And lastly can we just appreciate the random weird things Jon would do that would confuse his students. Like.
They come in to class one day to find him ferociously batting away ceiling cobwebs with his broom, muttering 'damned spiders..not TODAY web....you hear me annabelle?? Not on my WATCH' they are all a little disturbed and Jon is even more mortified that they saw.
If he still has his Beholding powers after the apocalypse then he can A) automatically know when someone is cheating and B) know things about his students that he definitely shouldn’t know. Sometimes it works in their favor, sometimes it doesn’t
Sometimes he just makes offhand comments that are totally bizarre? Like one of his students will say “dont take this the wrong way but you’re really weird, Mr. Sims” and he’ll be like “Oh you think I’M weird, you should meet some of the other people I know.” and one of the kids will ask “...like who?” and he’ll just count off on his fingers “ohh met an undead goth once, couple of vampire hunters, Jared Hopworth was quite a character. Still mad I gave him two of my ribs. Anyway, our lesson for today is about-” and he’ll just say it all with a completely straight face!! And all his students are very very confused
When they’re analyzing a character from literature or idk something like that, Jon will sometimes be like “oh that reminds me of this guy I knew” and proceed to say something so wacky that everyone thinks he must be making it up (but who really knows at this point.) He’ll say “ah yes, people will believe the craziest things. I knew a woman once who thought her purpose in life was to kill the sun” and no one will say anything because what are you supposed to say to that??
He gives the weirdest advice too. After the bell rings when everyone is leaving class he’ll be like “and remember, don’t trust deliverymen” or “never go through a door that wasn’t there before!” or “don’t ever ever listen to a singing wasps nest.” all his students are just like “okay Mr. Sims whatever you say”
Someone asks “oh who’s the guy in the picture on your desk?” And Jon will say “oh that was my friend Tim, sadly he died trying to blow up a bunch of clowns” and the kid will just be like. “okay Mr. Sims” because who KNOWS at this point
This was super super long but. Teacher Jon AU guys

thinking about pok lives and goes on spring break au heres everything in my brain atm
Pok gets enough money working for the government to get a new house so they no longer live in an apartment and instead are in like a nice lil 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house and the bad kids come over freshman year bc riz is like "oh my dad should know something about these palimpsets i feel like he'd know about them" and he's not of much use but like. to give yall some perspective on how i imagine pok in this au he's like this goblin w huge scars covering him who is like?? kinda athletic?? and he is also still a spy and still goes on missions so when they first meet him hes in this fairly nice house in like a button up and cardigan w plaid pants and has his hair like tied back (bc i think he would grow it out) in a low ponytail drinking coffee. and they've never met Riz's dad but suddenly just everything about Riz makes sense this guy is his fucking dad?? and he works for the government as an accountant?? dude this guy is cool as hell wtf.
He's just very eloquently spoken and seems to know a lot about things accountants shouldn't care about (why did riz send us to his accountant dad to look at a palimpsest why would his dad know anything about this?) and so thus begins the convincing riz who knows what his dad does that his dad is in the mafia.
also doesnt help that they do have a thing in the gukgak household about bringing new people directly to the house bc obviously pok does have a bunch of like secret rooms and drawers in the home and so the very first thing he says around them is "Kid you know how i feel about strangers in the home" and riz just goes "yeah yeah sorry i know we can meet at Basrar's or something next time-" "okay well im assuming its an emergency or something important if you brought 5 people over that i've never even met so what's up?" and its immediately weird bc... wtf.. hi ig??
"dude like why is he so like ..... that. like?? dude hes not an accountant i know that at least." "guys my dad is just some dude who works in accounting hes not a member of the mafia" "the ball im so sorry your dad has been lying to you he is a member of the mafia. does your mom know?" "i dont know?? probably??" "poor woman..." "oh my god"
theyre all so confused as to why he is so casual not knowing that like since he was 13 riz has known his dad is a spy and does missions and stuff and everytime they see pok literally just getting a coffee they confront him immediately even if riz is there
"so mr.ball....whats in that coffee???"
"vanilla. some cream and milk."
"theres no mafia secrets????"
"no. i got it with two shots of espresso."
"....weird....."
"if you want me to buy you a coffee you can just ask like a normal person."
"i dont need your MAFIA COFFEE....."
"okay, the coffee here is really good though."
".....maybe i would like just a small coffee with two shots of vanilla."
**hands them 10 bucks** "go ahead."
obv pok cant just tell his sons friends he barely knows that hes a spy so he just continually insists that he "works for the department of foreign affairs as an accountant. i work in accounting kids. thats it." and they all get it HORRIBLY WRONG and are like "oh yeah kalvaxis rlly wanted to eat an accountant JUST SAY UR A MEMBER OF THE MAFIA AND GO KINDA SUSPICIOUS THATS UR WIFES A COP ARE U TRYING TO MANAGE THE POWER SYSTEM SO U CAN GET AWAY W UR CRIMES???" and he just straight up "....YEAH IM A MEMBER OF THE MAFIA! YEAH U GOT IT RIGHT. IM A MEMBER OF THE MAFIA." and riz finds it fucking hilarious bc as hes busting out laughing his dad is going "riz the mafia is serious business u know this idk why ur laughing about it : (" and the bad kids think theyve cracked the case!! theyve done it!! (they have not!)
pok and garthy know eachother very well bc pok has been sent on numerous missions to Leviathan and so there's like little hints as to what pok does "oh you're still working for the department of foreign affairs! you been moved out of accounting yet?" and the bad kids are like "garthy he works for the mafia. sorry we had to break it to you...." and garthy who knows for a fact pok is not in the mafia just goes "....oh?? the mafia?? that's new! i cant imagine the wife likes that very much!"
Pok and Riz have a little moment in Leviathan where they just sit and talk and Pok assures Riz that he's cool and his friends like him and that he wouldve kill to be as cool as riz is when he was his age. Riz falls asleep on Pok and his dad is just glad hes getting some rest. he also sees the tattoos and goes "if your mom asks you got those when i was asleep and i didnt know."
He absolutely hates fallinel but hes been there on so many missions he is just used to high elves and their bs. "Ah.... Pook GikGuk..." "Mhmm. you got it right buddy." While there he just constantly looks so done with just about everything bc he has seen this place so many times there is like no "ooo new place!" value in it is literally just "yep. high elves and their high elven shit." he tells riz if he ever becomes a spy (which he definitely would btw i will die on the secret agent riz hill) to just. get used to this bc he is going to have to deal with this a lot.
In the nightmare forest he finally is like "guys im not apart of the mafia im a spy. i dont work in accounting lol u think my wife would marry some fucking accountant when shes as cool as she is??" and they're like "???? but... u admitted... u were in the mafia.. why would u lie..." "im a spy i literally lie for a living also i barely knew you guys except when you would come over to our house sometimes and stare at me suspiciously while I scrolled through twitter on my laptop" "MAYBE U WERE LOOKING AT UR MAFIA MEMBERS TWITTER" "WHY ON EARTH WOULD MAFIA MEMBERS HAVE TWITTER" "I DONT KNOW?? THEY WANNA LOOK AT MEMES!"
everything for this au is under the "pok lives au" tag bc i have. so many ideas. i am more than willing to take drawing ideas for this please ask me about this au (srs)

hey I've noticed you haven't posted anything about the last episods of 9-1-1. Did you stop watching? are you still interested in the show?
Hi there. This answer is gonna be long just fyi.
I haven't stopped watching and I'm definitely still very interested - more interested in the characters than the show itself, but I feel like that's what always happens to me when it comes to shows.
However, I haven't watched the last two episodes. I know everything that happens because of tumblr, most of the blogs I follow are 9-1-1 related so it's impossible not to see all the gifs and posts - plus, it also gives me an inkling about whether I should expect a good episode or not (most of the people I follow are interested in the same concepts/storylines I enjoy so I tend to trust their opinion when it comes to that.
Shows like 9-1-1 tend to get boring as they go on - kinda like Grey's Anatomy, mostly because actors start disappearing and the audience don't connect with the new ones, so it's hard to follow something you can't connect with. However, 9-1-1 still counts with their main cast and will continue to count with it for season 6 as far as we know (except for Rockmond Dunbar I guess; and also what the hell happened with John Harlan Kim? I know he's in another show but... Wasn't he a regular? I actually really like Albert, it's a shame).
The reason why I'm finding the show a bit boring lately is... Well, the lack of depth and screen time the main characters are getting, basically. We really had a whole storyline about a r*pist that involved the police too much for my own interest and liking, and another whole episode about... Uh, two recurrent characters trying to solve a mystery? I don't know, man. At least one of them was a detective.
I don't need drama, I don't need another tsunami. 'Jinx' (4x06) was such a good episode, it was fun, it was hilarious, nothing really happened and yet it was so entertaining; it had the main cast being silly and interacting with each other. I'd actually love an episode where nothing happens, where they're at the station for the whole episode, wondering why the alarm doesn't sound and they just have to sit there and talk and play and laugh. It'd be funny and interesting, something different.
And yes, Buck and Eddie's relationship (+ Christopher) is a big thing for me when it comes to the show. I read a post once where it said it doesn't really matter if you think they could have a romantic relationship or not, if you think there could be something more between them than a friendship or they'd be better off as best friends - I think it's safe to say everyone enjoys their relationship, whatever label you wanna put to it. It's so boring and disappointing to see Buck with T*ylor, and most of this has nothing to do with the fact I ship Buck and Eddie. Hell, I didn't like the way they wrote Ana, but at least her relationship with Eddie meant something to his development as a character - it was the first relationship after Shannon, it was a big deal. But Buck's relationship with T*ylor is... I don't even know what to say, there's nothing there, every scene seems pointless and they've completely erased Buck's growth (also, why do they keep trying to make T*ylor a more important character than... Idk, Karen? Who has been on the show since the first season and is Hen's wife?). It makes me wanna turn off the tv (well, my laptop) because the same writers who made me cry with emotion and admire the way they wrote Buck are the same ones who are laughing at me now.
What I'm trying to say is - this show still has a lot of potential. It has the best thing a show can have: good characters. I want more Hen and more Karen, I want Chimney back (there was no need to write him off on these episodes just because JLH can't be on the show because of her pregnancy, I want more Athena + Bobby scenes (I saw there was a really funny scene between them last episode and I'm really glad), I obviously want Buck + Eddie + Christopher, I want a PTSD arc for Eddie... To be fair, just more real interactions between the mains? We've see glimpses of Hen and Eddie's friendship and I think they're hilarious when they're together. Those are all things we CAN have, things that make sense, not just for the show but for the characters. I want the show to be fair and loyal to the characters they created.
I probably have more things to say but... Okay, I got carried away and those are the main things that come to mind.
Thank you for this question, it gave me an excuse to rant about something I wouldn't really talk about otherwise. x

A/N: hello friends! it has been awhile since i have posted an actual one shot, so i decided a good comeback would be my entry for @captainscanadian ‘s 1k writing challenge! i picked the College AU for our Buck Boi and idk where this came from, but it came from a deep place i guess aldskfjdsl i hope y’all like it!
Feedback is always welcomed and appreciated (: x
Bucky was fortunate because he never truly knew what it meant to be alone. Growing up, he always had Steve by his side. Sometimes that meant getting his ass kicked behind the school dumpsters, but at least they did that together, too. Everyone in the city knew who Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes were - two teens with charming smiles and blue eyes that could convince the older crowd into giving them just about anything. Free ice cream. Clothing that fit Bucky just right but could swallow Steve whole when he was still half his friend's size. Fresh produce to bring back to their mothers. It was always different but still a welcome perk of being the iconic duo.
When they separated for college - Steve choosing to go to an art school in California, and Bucky finding himself in the halls of Stanford - they still kept in touch, but he found solace in the friendship of his roommates.
Sam was full of sarcasm and toothy grins that made anyone around him smile too. He and Bucky had a habit of butting heads over small stuff like who left a spoon in the sink or whose turn it was to buy more milk, but they both knew they'd do anything for each other. Peter, or Quill as he preferred to be called, wasn't in their dorm often, but when he was, they always had a good time. Bucky wouldn't trust Quill to wake him up for an exam, but he knew there was no one better to go to if he was looking for a place to party for the night. The three of them were incredibly different, yet they got along just fine.
He made friends in different classes too; Wanda in his environmental biology class; Gamora, Quill's girlfriend, in his mythology class; and Scott, who he met sleeping in the stairwell behind the library one day.
Wherever Bucky went, he always had someone with him. He was never alone.
But, on nights when he felt his chest tighten and the breath catch in his throat, he couldn't understand why he always felt lonely. His mother used to remind him that being alone and being lonely were two different things, but he didn't understand how it was possible - how he could feel like he was missing something despite sitting in a room full of people.
It was another one of those nights for him. Sleep never came, and the more he tossed and turned in bed, the more frustrated he became. The only thing he could think of to get his mind off of the loneliness he felt was to go on a run, so he quickly changed into appropriate workout attire and dashed out of his apartment.
He ignored the fact that it was two in the morning and Sam, who happened to still be up studying, knew better than to ask where he was going. Sometimes the guy just needed to clear his head, and there was nothing wrong with that.
Bucky ran until his lungs burned. Every breath he took felt like glass shards in his chest, but he relished in the feeling because it distracted him from the thoughts racing through his mind. He only stopped to take a breather when black spots started to dance in the corner of his eyes, and he had the campus fountain to lean back on. The moment he sat down, he could feel his muscles practically sigh in relief, and he had to laugh. For being as fit as he was, he still had limits. What a way to remember he was human after all.
The cool spray of the fountain hit his face, and he leaned back ever so slightly to get a little bit more of it. It was incredibly refreshing; he wasn't against sitting there for hours, but he knew someone would come out and think he was high on something. High on adrenaline, maybe, but certainly not high on anything he wanted to be high on.
"I wouldn't fall asleep in that position."
Your sudden presence made Bucky jump and nearly fall into the fountain. You weren't there when he first ran up, which meant you must have stumbled upon him sitting there while he was enjoying the cool mist. The fact that he didn't hear you coming worried him. Clearly, he needed to work on becoming more aware of his surroundings.
"Speaking from experience?" He chuckled and leaned forward, resting his hands on his knees. He tried to will himself to get up, but his muscles refused.
"Actually, yes," you replied with a smile. "I was so exhausted after a lab one day, I fell asleep sitting up and tumbled straight into the water. I'm pretty sure my picture is still plastered all over Twitter somewhere."
"Sorry to hear that."
"Don't be. It was hilarious."
You gestured towards the spot next to him, silently asking if you could sit there. Bucky wasn't sure why you wanted to spend time with him when you didn't know him, but he wasn't going to say no. As weird as it sounded, your presence was comforting. Made him feel like he wasn't running from something but running towards you instead.
A small smile spread across your face as you sat down. You dipped your fingers into the fountain for a moment, quietly watching the ripples grow bigger and bigger until they finally disappeared. You did this a few times before turning your attention back to Bucky. He wondered if this was something you liked to do - something that calmed you on your worst nights. He even started to feel bad because he might have stumbled on your private spot. Not that a fountain in middle of campus was entirely private, but it must be nicer at this time of night.
"Can I ask you something?" Bucky felt the heat rise in his cheeks when you turned to look at him. He wasn't sure if he should have just enjoyed the comfortable silence, but there was so much he wanted to know about you.
"Make it good," you hummed. "Cause if it's lame, I might not answer it."
He chuckled. "I just wanted to know why you were out here."
"You want an honest answer or one that makes you feel comfortable?"
"Honest."
You sighed and started to pick at the frayed edges of the hole in your jeans. It looked like you were debating on telling the truth. It wasn't as if you really owed him an honest answer. Bucky was a stranger, someone you only met because he was about to pass out. He offered you no information about himself, so why would you?
He was about to tell you to forget about it, but you started to talk and cut him off.
"My roommates are throwing a party, and they brought a lot booze. The smell was starting to get to me, and I knew I needed to get out before I relapsed," you confessed softly. "I know it sounds ridiculous given that I'm not that old, but I'm an alcoholic."
Bucky shook his head. "It's not ridiculous. And the fact that you could assess the situation and walk away means you're doing better than you probably think you are."
"I appreciate that, but it's not that impressive. I've only been sober for a few months, which my sponsor says is a good thing but sometimes it doesn't really feel like it." You ran your hands down your face and quickly gave yourself a little shake. He didn't say anything; he figured you were trying to push out all the bad thoughts. "Well. That was depressing! So, tell me, why are you out here?"
"Honest?" You nodded, and Bucky chuckled. It wasn't going to get cheerier from here. "I was running from my thoughts. Sometimes I think my brain is out to get me. Always making me feel lonelier than I should, which doesn't always seem fair. I have great friends and a supportive family, so why do I feel lonely? Why can I never go to bed feeling happy?"
Another silence fell between you two. His confession didn't seem to faze you. You respected the fact that he was as honest with you as you were with him, especially when he didn't have to be. He could have lied - told you some bullshit story about how his roommates were hooking up with each other, and he couldn't handle hearing it anymore. But he didn't. He told you his truth, and you liked that about him. You liked that you could trust him despite meeting him less than thirty minutes ago.
"Do you feel lonely right now?" You asked after a beat.
Bucky exhaled, a quick breath that almost sounded like a laugh. "Now that I think about it, no. I don't."
You smiled over at him, a genuine smile that made his entire chest feel warm.. "Neither do I."

HELL YEAH BRO
Soulmate AU: Who is eager to meet their soulmate? Who absolutely does not want to meet their soulmate?
Anna, hopeless romantic and “true love” fanatic that she is, is incredibly down to meet her soulmate. One of her biggest fears is being inherently unlovable and that no one will ever love her for who she is (parents dying and sister shunning you has to leave some abandonment issues babyyyy), so she takes a lot of comfort in the idea of a soulmate--at least one person is basically certain to love her, right?
Hiccup, meanwhile, is apathetic at best and annoyed by the idea of a higher power dictating who his girlfriend is at worst. Unlike Anna, he doesn’t really fear no one will ever really love him for who he is--rather, he just accepts it as fact. Growing up with no friends and an emotionally-distant father, Hiccup came to believe that he was never going to feel the kind of deep, boundless love he’d seen between other people--and he made his peace with it. Being a more introverted scientist and inventor-type, Hiccup tends to spend a lot of time alone anyways and believes (maybe not fully accurately) that he prefers it that way. Besides, the logician in him thinks the whole “magic cosmic soulmate” thing is probably bullshit, and he just can’t figure out how something like soulmates could ever be backed or supported by modern science. Ultimately, Hiccup figures he’s going to date who he’s going to date (if he can even find any girls who are interested, that is), and he really couldn’t care less what the stars have to say about it.
When Hiccup and Anna do finally meet, and eventually start dating (knowing how shy and awkward they’d both be about confessing, it would take months to years after them meeting to actually get together, even in a goddamn soulmate AU), it isn’t revealed that they’re soulmates right away. Maybe it’s revealed by their hearts glowing a certain color when they first realize they’re in love with the other person? Idk.
When Anna finds out they’re soulmates, she’s absolutely stoked. Like the girl probably runs around their home for a solid 15 minutes planning a soulmate reveal party or something. Hiccup, meanwhile, is just kind of like “Oh! Neat!” and then immediately goes back to whatever he was doing XD
Anna is a bit hurt that Hiccup is so, ah...unconcerned about them being literally destined to be together. She’s mainly worried that it means that he doesn’t like...cherish their connection enough and whatnot. After he picks up on the fact that she’s kind of upset about his definitive lack of a strong reaction to the whole thing, he explains to her that he didn’t really care because he’d 100% date Anna whether or not she was his soulmate. Saying their souls were deeply connected was basically just putting a formal title on what he already knew.
And Anna has to take a minute, because honestly? Hiccup confidently saying he’d be with her in any reality, even one where he risks angering cosmic forces to do so, is actually much more romantic than them being supposedly “fated for each other” since the beginning.
Single parent AU: Which one is the single parent? (Alt. if they’re both single parents: Which one is open to starting a new relationship from the start? Which one is never planning on finding love again… Until they meet the other and are instantly smitten?)
I think I’ll have Zephyr and Nuffink be the single parent kids because I Just Think They’re Neat! That, and I honestly can’t bear to make lovechildren for Anna with anyone but Hiccup XD (those of you who know me will know making Krist/anna lovechildren in any context is RIGHT OUT).
So in this AU things didn’t work out with Astrid and Hiccup is pretty heartbroken over it :( I imagine she ultimately left him because she wasn’t really feeling the spark anymore, and they have joint custody of the kids. Meanwhile, Hiccup and Anna were neighbors growing up, and were pretty close friends as kids until Anna moved away and they lost touch. She eventually comes back to their hometown as an adult, and she and Hiccup reconnect. They’re also both like “ah shit, my old buddy got HOT” XD
I actually think Anna and Zephyr would really hit it off, mainly because Anna sees a lot of what she loves the most about Hiccup in Zephyr. Zephyr has Hiccup’s anxiety, cynicism, inventive streak, overall social awkwardness--and because Anna knows Hiccup so well and knows how to best accommodate all of his quirks and oddities, it’s not hard for her to extrapolate how best to befriend a younger version of him XD Zephyr, meanwhile, has had trouble befriending kids her age due to her bluntness and general “nerdiness,” so she’s always happy to find someone who accepts her unconditionally and takes a genuine interest in her wacky inventions--even if it’s her dad’s new girlfriend, who by all accounts should be a weird person for her to get close to XD Zephyr also devours science books like they’re going out of style, and is very pleased that Anna is more than happy to listen to her ramble on and on about random science trivia. Zeph still loves her biological mom, for sure, but she starts thinking of Anna as a second mom. She brags to all the kids at school that she has two moms, which leaves them very confused and wondering if Astrid ended up marrying another woman after she divorced Hiccup (which, to be fair, wouldn’t be entirely out of character).
Nuffink, meanwhile, is a little more unsure about the whole situation, if mainly because I headcanon him as a bit of a mama’s boy. He doesn’t dislike Anna so much as he’s just...wary of her, and doesn’t know how to feel about his dad falling in love with someone who isn’t his mom. He also can’t help but feel out-of-place when he, Zephyr, Hiccup, and Anna go out on “family outings” because he kind of looks like he doesn’t belong. With her reddish-brown hair, her blue eyes, her aundance of freckles, and her fondness for wearing twin braids, Zephyr could definitely pass as Anna’s daughter (I’ve even seen Anna used as an older version of Zephyr in video edits, which is hilariously ironic). Although Nuffink has his dad’s eyes, he very much has his biological mom’s hair and doesn’t look like he’s related to Anna at all.
I think what helps them finally bond is that they both have a love of combat! Nuffink definitely does some kind of martial arts or fencing training if he can access it, and Anna is more than happy to teach him some swordplay and spar with him if he wants! Because Sword Anna is best Anna, fight me. Nuffink is also open-minded enough that hey, if his cool big sister likes someone that much, she can’t be that bad. Hiccup is just...continually super impressed with how much Anna knows about fighting--and it makes him fall all the more in love with her, because he loves that in a woman XD Once Nuffink warms up to Anna, he’s constantly trying to impress her ith how tough he is--mostly shown by him ramming his head into walls. Poor Anna worries about Nuffink a lot XD
I imagine there’s a little bit of tension between Anna and Astrid in this AU. Not really because Astrid resents Hiccup moving on--she’s actually pretty happy for Hiccup that he found someone better suited for him than her--but more because she worries Anna is trying to replace her as the kids’ “true mom” XD Anna, meanwhile, can’t help but resent Astrid a little for breaking Hiccup’s heart and doesn’t get why they kids can’t just have two moms! The more people who love them, the better, right???
I don’t imagine Anna and Hiccup having any biological kids in this AU, because I think two stepkids would be plenty for Anna! Of course, since Zephyr and Nuffink are Hiccup’s, she loves them with all her being and tries to be the best stepmom she can be. But I think having more than two kids would stress Anna’s ADHD ass the fuck out, and she doesn’t strike me as the sort of person who would feel a need to have biological kids with Hiccup if she already had Nuffink and Zephyr to parent. Our girl is perfectly happy adopting!
Doctor AU: Which one is the longsuffering doctor? Which one is the patient?
Hiccup is the long-suffering doctor, although not entirely by choice. Often he wonders if being a doctor is actually what he wanted, but his dad was like “WELL SON! YOU’RE SMART, SO YOU GOTTA BE A DOCTOR SO YOU MAKE BIG BUCKS!” (I’m headcanoning in this AU Stoick is a professional athlete of some kind, and has made BANK since he was young. He can’t really conceive of his son NOT pursuing a well-paid profession). Hiccup doesn’t really want to disappoint his rather intimidating dad, so he goes along with it.
It’s not that he dislikes it, when all is said and done. He does care about people and wants to help them, although he hides it underneath about 10 layers of snark. Still, it’s stressful and thankless work, and often he worries about whether he took the right path. Too late to pursue something else now, he supposes.
Then he meets Anna, rushed to the ICU with a collection of third-degree electrical burns. She tried to plug all of her Christmas light strings into the same power strip, and uh...it did not go well. Hiccup is there monitoring her vitals when she wakes up, and she just kind of wearily sighs and admits to him that living on her own wasn’t nearly as fun or exciting as she thought it would be. As it turned out, Anna had insisted she could be trusted with putting up her apartment’s holiday decorations, and she very much should not have been.
Anna ends up having to stay a couple weeks. She needs a small skin graft (yeah, she fucked herself up THAT bad), and then needs a bit of time for the surgery wounds to heal. Hiccup is assigned to do checkups on her regularly, and starts to look forward to it. Her perky disposition (despite being stuck in the hospital with burn wounds) is contagious, and she never fails to make him laugh after a long, draining shift. As stressful as his job is, Anna becomes his one respite.
He has to admit, it’s nice to have at least one thing to look forward to.
Hiccup is a little sad to see Anna go. Of course, bumbling, socially awkward foot-in-mouth fool that he is, he doesn’t have the courage to ask for her number so they can keep in touch. That would, uh...probably be unprofessional or something. Besides, it would probably crush his heart and soul if she was weirded out by his soft spot for her so like...maybe best not to even open himself up to the possibility.
Then, not two weeks later, Anna shows up at the hospital again--this time having broken three bones in a hiking accident. Apparently she got too excited about a particularly nice view, and toppled right off the top of a very steep bluff. He, once again, takes on her care, and is delighted (albeit guiltily) to have her back. He, once again, has something to make work not suck as much!
Oddly enough, this turns out to be the first of many hiking accidents. Anna comes in next month claiming to have nearly burned her arm off in a rogue campfire, and then again the next month claiming to have been mauled by a bear (although Hiccup is pretty sure those bleeding gashes were just left by a very big dog, and Anna is too embarrassed to admit it). Odder still, Hiccup distinctly remembers talking to Anna during her first hospital stay about how much he loved hiking and the outdoors, and now all of her new string of injuries just happen to be hiking-related. He can’t help but be baffled about how her insurance even covers all of this, but apparently having a family lineage distantly related to Norwegian royalty has its perks.
On roughly her 7th hospital stay, Hiccup finally gathers up the courage to ask Anna for her number, if only because he figures it would be nice for them to see each other without Anna having to nearly get herself killed first every time XD
Bodyguard AU: Who is the bodyguard? Who are they protecting? Which one is secretly pining for the other?
OMIGOD SO
I HAD AN IDEA FOR THIS
What if Anna was sent to bodyguard Hiccup in an AU where Arendelle is a lot more militaristic???
Basically what I'm thinking is that this is in an alternate timeline, Hiccup didn't injure Toothless's tail when he shot him down. The beginning of HTTYD plays out the same, but Toothless can still fly and just yeets off after Hiccup frees him, supposedly never to be seen again. However, this still leads Hiccup to believe he may not be dragon-fighting material after all. The poor boy still yearns to find a way to prove his worth to Berk, though.
As Hiccup gets older, his strength doesn't really improve, and it becomes clear to Stoick that he's always going to be pretty scrawny. Because of this, he's hesitant to put Hiccup in dragon training for the sake of his son's own safety--and hey, Hiccup seems to have lost interest in dragon-fighting anyhow, so it's not like Hiccup will fight him on it. Nonetheless, the dragon raids are getting worse, and Stoick worries about Hiccup being able to protect himself at all. Knowing most of the older villagers are busy with dragon-fighting and other jobs, and honestly doubting any of the village's teenagers would protect Hiccup if push came to shove, Stoick sends out an appeal of sorts to neighboring villages and kingdoms requesting a bodyguard for his skinny disaster of a son.
Back in Arendelle, shut-in princess Anna is surprised yet intrigued when a messenger from the Viking village of Berk shows up at Elsa's coronation. In a timeline where Hans and Anna don’t have their chance encounter, Hans sets his wooing sights on the newly-crowned Queen Elsa (and fails), and no push ends up being strong enough to make Elsa lose control of her powers at the ceremony. Anna, however, still feels hurt by her sister’s seemingly reasonless rebuke earlier in the evening and finds herself aching to explore the world outside her castle and be close with someone--anyone--again.
When the Viking messenger requests a bodyguard for the Chief of Berk’s son, Anna is quick to volunteer. The messenger scoffs at first, but to his surprise, the soft-looking princess isn’t entirely unqualified. She filled many of her long, empty childhood hours training with the Arendelle guard, and her swordplay is admirable. To prove her worth, Anna faces off with one of the Berkian warriors in a duel--and holds her own shockingly well. While Queen Elsa is hesitant to let her sister run off to a faraway nation, Anna vehemently insists that Arendelle doesn’t need two monarchs, and this will be great for diplomatic relations in the long run. Of course, she also longs to explore and get away from the place she’s been trapped her entire life, but Elsa doesn’t need to know that part.
When Anna arrives in Arendelle, Hiccup has absolutely no idea what to make of his new bodyguard. On the one hand, a girl who’s good with a sword is hot, and he’s long since given up on Astrid anyways. On the other hand, Hiccup is definitely irked that his dad sees him as so weak and incapable that he’s the only Viking in the village who needs a full-on bodyguard, and he hates feeling like he’s being babied and coddled (not that this is Anna’s fault). Still, his bodyguard is essentially the only person who’s ever seemed to actually want to be friends with him in...well, his whole life, and honestly? He’ll take it.
Anna, meanwhile, still aching for love and connections of really any kind, is nigh-instantly smitten. His brains, his creativity, his constant snide jokes, his snark-coated good heart, his weird, messy hairdo--all of it has an 18-year-old Anna completely over the moon. Hiccup, feeling hopeless in the world of romance after being rejected by Astrid, is honestly just relieved to finally have a friend--to the point that it doesn’t even occur to him that Anna’s a girlfriend option.
Not long after she arrives in Berk, Anna is put into dragon training to prepare for raids. She does a bit of training of her own with Hiccup, teaching him some swordplay to try and boost his confidence. It’s not hard to tell that he has mixed feelings about having to have a protector, and Anna hopes that by teaching him some basic fighting skills he can at least feel a little better if he’s ever in a situation where she isn’t there to defend him.
As she gets deeper into her dragon training, Anna asks Hiccup why he never gave dragon training a go. Granted, him being as physically small as he is would be a disadvantage, but he could still learn to hold his own decently well using speed and stealth. It would help him be able to protect himself, if nothing else. Hiccup seems very reluctant to talk about the whole subject, but he says Anna needs to trust that he knows he can’t kill dragons. He tends to give the shortest answers possible to her questions, and nigh-instantly changes the subject. When Anna presses too much, he gets snippy.
As they get closer, Hiccup finally opens up to Anna about the time he shot down a Night Fury and couldn’t bring himself to make the final kill. He admits to cutting the creature free, and how the dragon nearly killed him--only to spare Hiccup just as Hiccup had spared him. “I saw more than just a ruthless killer when I looked into that dragon’s eye,” Hiccup tells her. “I saw myself. I think there’s so much more to them than anyone knows, but...you’re the only person I feel like would actually give me the benefit of the doubt on that.”
During the next raid, Anna pays closer attention to the dragons than before. She watches how they interact with the villagers, and notice that they never seem to go out of their way to go after people. They only fight Vikings when Vikings initiate, and the dragons’ main concern always seems to be taking sheep and fish. Left to their own devices, they don’t seem to want to hurt anyone.
Unfortunately, Anna standing off to the side and trying to watch what all the dragons are doing leaves her distracted--and vulnerable. She’s not prepared for a camouflaged changewing to melt out of the wall behind her, whipping around and backing her into a corner. Anna grabs for her sword but can hardly move, frozen in terror as the massive dragon stares her down.
She holds up an arm, bracing herself for a wall of fire, but none comes. There’s a swish of wings and a gust of wind blows her back. When she looks up, the dragon is gone.
It would’ve been beyond easy for the dragon to kill her. The creature clearly saw her--could have taken advantage in her moment of frozen stupor and burned her to a crisp. And yet...the dragon spared her. Just like the Night Fury had spared Hiccup.
Anna realizes Hiccup might be onto something.
Together, Hiccup and Anna decide they’re going to get to the bottom of what dragons are really like--and why they’re stealing the village’s food. While claiming to go out for “battle practice,” Hiccup and Anna track down dragons and study them in secret--observing them, writing about them, seeing how they behave and how they interact with one another. They’re surprised by what they see: left to their own devices, dragons are good-natured and compassionate, and they take care of their own. Strangely, they never seem to feed the stolen food to their young. Hiccup predicts they’re not actually keeping it for themselves, and taking it somewhere nigh unreachable for humans. For what actual purpose is anyone’s guess.
Anna starts using the info she gathers observing dragons with Hiccup in dragon-training. She finds ways to sooth them and calm them down in the ring by using things they seem to enjoy in the wild. Scented grass, bits of fish, soft touches, slow, gentle movements. The village marvels at her newfound skills, and can’t help but wonder where she developed such a knack for controlling dragons despite spending basically all her time around “Stoick’s little runt.” She couldn’t be training with him, of all people...could she? Astrid, for one, is definitely none too pleased about her spot at the top of the class being threatened.
Meanwhile, Anna and Hiccup can’t help but grow fond of the dragons they watch. They start becoming more bold, and leaving snacks of trout and mutton for the scaled creatures. Anna is delighted when the food ends up attracting none other than what she’s pretty sure is the same changewing who spared her, as well as a curious snaptrapper. She’s never gotten to see a snaptrapper up close before, and is completely undeterred by the triple-jawed four heads. Rather, she is far more preoccupied with coming up with the perfect name for each head.
“Omigod, he’s so PRETTY! And he smells like CHOCOLATE!”
“...you know they probably emit that scent to lure in prey so they can slice it in three, right?”
“CHOCOLATE, HICCUP!!!”
With each new meal, the local dragons grow more and more comfortable with Hiccup and Anna. After a while, the changewing and the snaptrapper even let Anna touch their noses. Anna falls in love with watching the changewing seem to melt around the forest as she camouflages, and rolling in the mud with the snaptrapper after a summer storm. Hiccup starts catching what seems to be glimpses of the Night Fury he freed, and it appears that the curious creature has come back to investigate him.
The Night Fury appears more and more, drawn in by Hiccup’s trout feast. Hiccup notices the dragon’s wing is injured, likely shot by someone from the village. Although he’s not completely helpless, he’s having trouble. Hiccup sets to work on his most daring project yet--making a “brace” of sorts that can mend the ripped wing.
When Hiccup and Anna attempt to distract the Night Fury long enough to climb up and put the wing brace on, something unexpected happens. The dragon shoots up to the sky, both unwitting passengers clinging onto his tail for dear life.
Once they get their bearings and clamber up to his back, the Night Fury (who Hiccup has nicknamed “Toothless” for his retractable teeth) takes them on a flight through the clouds. Unable to help herself, Anna laces her arms around Hiccup’s waist--if only so she can supposedly “hold on better.”
Hiccup, of course, still doesn’t get it.
The flight takes a sinister turn when Toothless takes them to the dragon nest, and Hiccup finally gets his answer about where all of the villages food has been going--to their queen. Unsure what to do or how to free their new friends from the Red Death, Hiccup and Anna promise each other one thing or sure--none of the rest of Berk can know about the dragon nest. If they attack it, it spells disaster for both dragons and Vikings--not to mention the question of how they got there is sure to dig up their secret dragon-related activities as of late.
With each dragon raid, Anna finds herself more and more reluctant to fight dragons--especially now that she knows what’s actually going on. She only does the bare minimum to protect the food and the village, never going out of her way to attack a dragon or landing a killing blow (although by this point, she’d definitely be skilled enough to). During one particularly intense raid, Anna is finding it harder and harder to fend dragons off without doing lethal damage. While driving out a particularly tenacious monstrous nightmare, Anna happens upon the same changewing she’s befriended in the forest, limping to safety.
It would be incredibly easy to finish the dragon off, but Anna refuses. The dragon knows she’s beat, and so Anna lets her leave without so much as a swing of the princess’s sword.
Unfortunately, Astrid sees.
After the raid, Astrid storms up to Anna and chews her out in front of the whole village, yelling about how weak she was to not go for a dragon kill when she had the chance. It turns out Astrid’s also been noticing Anna going intentionally easy on the dragons, and how much the Arendelle princess seems to hold back when fighting him. Astrid knows it’s not physical incompetence, or a lack of skill--she’s seen Anna subdue plenty of dragons in training.
No, it seems to be the princess’s heart that’s weak. Her kingdom must be nothing but a bunch of bleeding-hearted morons, and she’ll never be tough enough to really belong in Berk.
As he watches Astrid yell and the Berkians all turn to sneer at the scene, Hiccup feels a sudden rush of protectiveness for his friend. Tears are starting to form in the corners of her eyes, and something gives in him seeing her subjected to the very ostracization that left him completely alone for so many years.
He walks up beside Anna, and suddenly he’s shouting like he’s never quite had the courage to before.
“You’re wrong, Astrid! You’re all wrong!”
Before long, he’s spilling everything--how dragons are intelligent and caring creatures, how they’re only stealing food to feed a ruthless queen, how he’s sure humans have killed far more dragons than vice versa. The village stares, horrified. When Stoick storms forward, Hiccup and Anna know it’s nothing good.
Stoick is disgusted. The very bodyguard he had brought all the way out to Berk to give his son strength did nothing but fill Hiccup’s head with softness and dangerous lies. He banishes Anna, warning her never to set foot in Berk or speak to his son again.
Hiccup will not have it. He says if Anna’s leaving, he’s coming with her. He’s made his choice, and he’s standing by the only person who ever really treated him with unconditional love and kindness.
“Fine,” Stoick says simply. “We’ll be rid of two traitors, then.”
Cast out from Berk, Hiccup and Anna find themselves with a new mission: Find the nest before the rest of Berk does, and take out the Red Death once and for all.
With the help of Toothless, the Changewing (who Anna has nicknamed “Flicker”), and the Snaptrapper (whose heads Anna have very creatively named Leafy, Greeny, Spiky, and Badbreath. It’s beyond Hiccup how she tells all of them apart, but she’s very adamant about which is which.), they find the dragon hive again, and attempt the impossible--attacking the queen. It seems hopeless at first, but once more and more malcontented dragons see what they’re doing, they join in and rebel.
It’s a tough fight, but the two humans and the revolting dragons come out on top. Not before the Red Death has one last hurrah, though--letting out a final, massive blast of fire that knocks Hiccup askew and sends him tumbling down into the flames. Toothless, Flicker, Anna, and the Snaptrapper dive after, and are quickly engulfed in red and orange.
Meanwhile, the Berkians have sent out ships following Hiccup, Anna, and their dragons, guessing the nest is where they were headed. By the time they get there, the fight is over--and Stoick and Gobber just manage to catch a glimpse of Hiccup plummeting into the flames.
Anna screams Hiccup’s name until the smoke burns her throat so much she can’t anymore. She remembers swooping underneath him and just managing to grab hold of his limp body before everything goes dark.
When she comes to later, it’s still dark--but she feels something soft and warm in her arms, and feels scales pressed against her back. Her arm is searing with pain, but she barely notices it as her eyes adjust to the darkness. Hiccup is curled up against her--groaning, but alive.
Not sure she’ll ever get another chance, she puts a hand on his cheek and finally tells him the truth. “I love you.”
He opens his eyes and looks, gaze shocked until a slow realization washes over him. He smiles. “I love you, too.”
They both pass out, still wrapped up in each other.
When the flames clear, Stoick sees what looks like a pile of dragons, all pressed together with their wings folded in. Slowly, they lift their wings to reveal two humans--charred in places, but alive.
Wracked with guilt, Stoick realizes he was wrong. Hiccup’s new bodyguard helped his son become stronger and braver than the chief of Berk ever imagined.
It turns out taking down the queen saved the dragons and the humans, and thanks to Hiccup, Anna, and their dragon friends, Berk will never have to worry about dragon raids again.
It turns out Hiccup’s leg and Anna’s arm didn’t quite make it out of the fire. Luckily, Gobber has always been handy at prosthetics--and Hiccup manages to make a fairly dextrous and functional metal hand for Anna. Anna is utterly delighted with how cool it looks.
After the whole Red Death incident, it’s decided that Hiccup is probably competent enough that he doesn’t need his own bodyguard anymore. Nonetheless, Anna is welcome to stay in Berk as long as she likes. And with new dragon friends and an incredibly cute new boyfriend, she’s not going anywhere anytime soon!
***
This is in reference to this post! I’ve already done these questions for Moanida. Theoretically still willing to do any questions I haven’t yet for Hiccanna and Moanida, although these were exhausting to write out so I might not give as long of answers XD

to fight or not to fight: band of brothers edition
just shitposting something from my drafts because I have no other content for you at the moment. Just to put this into perspective for you, I’ll let you know I’m a 5’2” 110 lb teenage girl. And yes, I will be fighting several of these men. I don’t care how attractive they are.
Dick Winters: I would not want to fight him. Like, at all. He’s a dad. But if I had to fight him, he would lay my ass out. Would definitely sicko god mode curb stomp you and then ask you “Are you okay, son? What’s going on? You can always talk to your dear old dad.”
Lewis Nixon: Oh, I would absolutely fight him solely for the fact that I’d fucking WIN. He would probably be drunk, and he’s not much of a fighter anyways. We would look back on it and laugh.
Carwood Lipton: ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? That would be like punching my mom. Besides, we know that Momma Lip will give you an ass-whooping if necessary, he’s got kids.
Ron Speirs: ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY N OT. He would practically smell me getting ready for a fight, and I would lose the little dignity I have left when he knocks me out with one punch. He is scary, I would not fight in a million years. I would forfeit.
Captain Sobel: BITCH IT IS ON SIGHT AND I COULD PROBABLY BEAT HIM TF UP-
Harry Welsh: No, I wouldn’t fight him, but it would be funny if I tried. Actually, now that I think about it, I would win, but I wouldn’t have the heart to fight him in the first place.
Buck Compton: Absolutely not. He would punch me so hard without mercy. I would die.
Norman Dike: ABSOLUTELY, AND I WOULDN’T EVEN NEED TO PUNCH HIM MORE THAN ONCE-
Joe Liebgott: YOU KNOW THAT WHEN THIS MOTHERFUCKER AND I LOCK EYES IT’S ON SIGHT. Not that Joe and I would hate each other, we would just have that relationship were sometimes we just gotta deck the fuck out of the other person’s halls. Would fight 100%, and I actually might win because we are both skinny legends.
David Webster: I’d fight him because I’d win and it would be easy. If he thinks Shakespeare is good, we are automatically fighting. END OF STORY.
Don Malarkey: I’d never fight him, I love him too much. I’d be messing up a wonderful human being. Also, I would lose, and he wouldn’t even intentionally be trying to win.
Floyd Talbert: I could definitely have a fair fight against this man, but I wouldn’t fight him solely on the grounds that I fear he would get an adrenaline boner.
Chuck Grant: I- No. Absolutely not. He would definitely win.
Bill Guarnere: I would try to fight him for no reason and lose miserably. RIP me.
Johnny Martin: Absolutely not. Could literally incinerate me with one look. I’d be dead before the fight even started. Could roast my ass afterwards. Also, he’s got Bull on his side. No thank you, I will be minding my goddamn business.
Shifty Powers: I would never want to fight him in the first place. I would also lose. He also, like Malarkey, wouldn’t even be trying to win. I feel like he would apologize for the rest of his life if I so much as got a bruise from it. So, no.
Joe Toye: I would do it for shits and giggles and he would not be messing around. I would lose 100%. He does not think it was funny. I think it’s fuckin hilarious.
Skip Muck: I would fight him, and I stand a fair chance at either losing or winning. Idk guys, tell me who you think would win.
Bull Randleman: Are you kidding me. The man is like half a body taller than me. I would rather just die. Also, he could just like pick me up by the back of the neck and I wouldn’t be able to do anything about it??? I would not fight, and if I had to, I would lose.
Skinny Sisk: I wouldn’t wanna fight him, but I could definitely win.
George Luz: I would fight a hoe. Solely for the fact that it would be funny. Still don’t know if I would win or lose.
Frank Perconte: Would fight this little gremlin. Could probably win.
Eugene Roe: I wouldn’t fight him because JESUS DOES HE NEED ANYMORE TRAUMA??? Also, he could beat me up in like 2 minutes. He’s a friggin medic he can literally carry wounded soldiers.
Babe Heffron: No, who the hell would fight an infant. Also, he could probably beat me up. He’s got Guarnere,Toye, Roe, and all of Easy Co hey, that rhymes. I’m not taking that chance.
Alex Penkala: Yeah, I would fight him, but for fun. I would win. Don’t even ask me how I know, I just do.
Albert Blithe: What, are we trying to give the poor man MORE PTSD???? Absolutely not. I would win if I had to, though.
Roy Cobb: I WOULD MILLY ROCK THIS BITCH INTO THE NEXT MILLENIA WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT.
Tumblr media
Alton More: Homeboi had the balls to talk back to Speirs. I don’t wanna find out what type of punch he packs. I’m good.
Pat Christenson: I don’t care that the man has limbs like Slenderman, we are fighting, and it is on sight. Little gossip bitch boy. I would so win.
Antonio Garcia: No, I wouldn’t fight him cause he’s baby. But I could probably win.

☕️ + CQL as an adaptation?
Mixed feelings, mixed feelings.
I will concede that when it comes to plot and characterization of main protagonists and antagonists, it is the weakest Mo Dao adaptation. They did Wei Wuxian and Jin Guangyao particularly dirty by watering the gray morality layers, they added McGuffins to kickstart the plot, and QishanWen is literally Mordor now. I also find the Chief Cultivator Lan Wangji in the ending pretty weird since he’s not exactly qualified with that personality (I love you boy, but no). I also think that the novel’s structure of peppering with loose flashbacks worked better than going through all of WWX’s backstory in one go chronologically.
THAT SAID, I don’t dislike it! I had a lot of fun last year as I watched it. Overall the cast was great, and it was visually gorgeous in the scenario and wardrobe department (insert that dril tweet meme where thousands go to clothes and like 100 bucks to sfx). Even if I didn’t like some changes, I could always joke and meme about it. The bad effects and the T-posing added a goofy fantasy 90′s TV effect that circled back to charming.
And here’s a lukewarm hot take that just solidified after talking to friends who started with CQL and went to the book later: I liked some of the little changes better. I liked a lot that Wen Ning and Yanli had more screentime and were there from the beginning, for instance. Plenty of platonic relationships feel lots more fleshed out in this canon than in the original. Some characters actually benefit and feel more solid in characterization in this one, like Lan Xichen and both of the Nie brothers (especially after watching Fatal Journey).
The fact that the added wangxian stuff to make them a bromance ended up being extremely subtexty gay anyway was hilarious. They got away with a lot of shit. You can even argue that the new setting for xiyao was pretty gay too. The 30 seconds of lesbian immortals was a surprise.
To be fair, I do enjoy all MDZS canons for different reasons. The 5 of them.
The fandom... has changed with the new blood, and some of the newcomers actually made it a worse place to be in. I hang out more on twitter fandom and the wank discourse and antis there are BAD even second-hand. But it’s also brought some nice creative folks, and it hooked two of my friends as well. Say what you like, but at least the ones who are doing video edition and memes are funny. I don’t read a lot of fanfic for The Untamed though, and I write book canon mostly so idk about the quality there.
So in short, the plot can be quite :/ and confusing at times compared to the original and it’s brought a lot of whiny children, but imo some minor changes were nice, the aesthetic was on point, most of the actors were cute and/or good, and it’s quite watchable and enjoyable if you’re not too nitpicky. I understand you’re not into it (and plenty of other fans, really) and I respect it, because if you’re more for the nuanced deeper themes or the fucked up stuff it can be aggravating and then the shiny parts won’t make up for it. I had low expectations when I went in so I got more fun than expected.
Thanks for the ask!

I’m autistic and one of the things I have trouble with is change. I’ve watched 911 since the third episode and now they have a second one? Idk. I’ve been seeing a lot of good things about it but I’m not sure if I want to watch it. Basically what I want to know is if it’s worth watching. Is it good? Are there any parallels between the new one and the Buck one? Who are the characters and what are they like? Will you start writing for this series instead of the other one? %
so, this got WAY longer than i thought it would, sorry!!! TL;DR is at the very very end!
tbh i didn’t wanna really give 911 lonestar a chance originally, i was lowkey annoyed bc it felt like they were like “oh u guys want buck and eddie, who are CLEARLY meant to be and have all this canon chemistry and relationship development to eventually get together??? lol NOPE but here’s a spinoff where u get ur white/latino gay ship :D”
which i do genuinely hope to god isn’t the case, like, i really need OG 911 to be like PSYCH here u go, some DIAZ-BUCKLEY fam. as a treat.
i did end up watching it bc curiosity and too many awesome gifsets finally got to me lol
and im only a couple of episodes in (haven’t had a chance to watch the 3rd ep bc of work and other things D: ) and so far i gotta say, i like the OG 911 calls that they get sent to more than 911 lonestars calls but again, im only 2 ep in, maybe they get more “woah thats crazy/hilarious/hearbreaking!” as the show goes on.
i honestly don’t see too many parallels between Buck and TK—the only thing i noticed where they’re pretty similar is how much they both enjoy easy physical contact. buck is very touchy feely and comfortable about showing affection/feelings and i feel like TK is the same regarding physical contact (with his dad at least)? but that’s about it.
for what it’s worth i do think the show is pretty entertaining and worth a watch!
my main reason for watching past the first episode is my enjoyment of the characters. i just think they’re all neat.
this is from a post i made when i first watched the show lol:
captain strand: good dad to all of his children
tk: hot gay messy boi
grace ryder: a fave, no nonsense beauty, judds better half
judd ryder: tragic big boi
captain blake: chaotic good w baby voice
marjan: wild feral messy gurl
mateo: if anybody’s mean to my SON im throwin hands bih
paul: again, if anybody’s mean to my SON im THROWIN hands
officer reyes: ready to dick tk down
here’s a more descriptive/longer summary of the characters if u wanna know more, if not skip down to the bolded sentence below lol:
owen strand is the captain (played by rob lowe) and to me he gives off chris traeger vibes (from parks and rec if u watched?) but with more depth. i like his character a lot, he’s a caring dad, seems like he knows what he’s doing, and like, c’mon, it’s rob lowe (i fell in love with him a million years ago when he played soda pop in the outsiders nipr;guebwuogrnofw)
tk is his son and a hot gay mess w some substance abuse issues (tho a lot has happened to him in only 2 ep i really don’t know how to feel about him entirely, bc besides stuff happening TO him, i don’t feel like he’s reacted in a way that shows much of his character?) idk maybe it’s just me. but he is a certified cutie so. lol
grace ryder, she’s smart (one of the only characters with more than ONE brain cell lmao) and gorgeous and an emergency 911 operator. she’s very supportive of her husband and what he’s going thru (which is A LOT), she herself has been thru a lot bc of the big incident at the beginning of the series and is still somehow held strong in spite of it all, she’s a personal fave of mine.
judd ryder is kind of a dick at first but i think its very understandable given the hell he’s been thru, im actually surprised at the amount that i like him. he’s very raw and vulnerable but has this “don’t worry im fine, back up” attitude that i loooove.
captain blake is the captain for EMTs, she’s got this soft teeny baby voice that contradicts so hard with her give no fucks ima do what i need to to find my missing sister actions irwughqwgoriegjf i like. she’s caring and does goes out of  her way for the little guy.
marjan has ZERO chill but in a good way, i can already absolutely see her getting into trouble by doing some crazy impulsive thing on a call in order to rescue someone—-TBH she actually reminds me a lot of Buck from OG 911 in that way. like yea she’s reckless and impulsive but u can tell its bc she CARES and this firefighting thing is what she’s meant to do. i really like her.
mateo—-OH MAN. he’s 10000000% my favorite. it hurts me everytime he’s on screen, bc he’s such a sweet and HARD WORKING man and he deserves to be a firefighter and do what he wants/has been waiting for for so long, im so HAPPY captain strand gives him a chance. i think he might have some learning disability or maybe he grew up in a household where maybe his family was too busy or didn’t care to check up on how he was doing in school and they neglected to see how much he was struggling—this is all just pure speculation from the fact that on the show he tells captain strand during the interview that he’s always passed the physical exam to be a firefighter but keeps failing the written part :( i love my son.
paul is a trans firefighter who’s mainly known for his crazy good observational skills in the field—there’s an ep—ep 2?—that shows off his talent but like, i found it unintentional funny bc the way they did it was in a scene that honestly truly felt to me like a scene I MYSELF would write in a fanfiction if i wanted to show off a cool skill the character has but was also too lazy to make it look good???? lmaoooo im not trying to be mean but like, if u do watch it, its the 2nd ep i believe, the “office meeting” scene. other than that tho there’s only been a few scenes with paul in it (my personal fave being the skin care routine scene lol) but i look forward to more scenes of my son being a lil sherlock holmes :)
officer reyes is tk’s potential new mans. he seems like a good cop from what little ive seen of him doing police work. so, i saw a post someone made basically saying how ugly are the men in texas that officer reyes is out here thirsting over tk so HARD—and not to be rude, but he really is!!!! reyes is a goodlookin guy, so idk what’s up with that, maybe he likes messy bois? bc same.
p.s. im not sure how to feel about reyes and tk together yet bc it doesn’t really seem as if they have too much chemistry. hopefully that changes? i do kinda like that they haven’t started off their potential relationship on the best of foots, bc i love drama, an indisputable fact.
ONTO THE FINAL QUESTION!
OG 911 will always be my first love and i just don’t see this changing anytime soon. buddie will always be the #1 ship in my heart! and i have about a gazillion awesome prompts i need to work on so me switching over to 911 lonestar isn’t gonna happen. i love OG 911 way too much iuqhur4ogfoie3jwnwjinioj
tho i may occasionally—per the request of prompts i’ve gotten in the last week or so–take a couple of the characters from 911 lonestar and put them in a 911 fic as a crossover? we’ll see.
this ended up soooo long oruhibgruoeqwp i hope some of it helped tho?
tl;dt: 911 lonestar seems fun and the characters are interesting enough to keep me entertained so i say give it a chance  :)

Some thoughts on 3x05...
So Anne is rubbing off on Gilbert…
Where’s Gilbert?
Tillie is quite the lucky girl but I got so much second hand embarrassment when Miss Stacy shouted out, “No touching”
Did Ka'kwet escape?
Of course Moody is the one to fall and break his ankle
Ruby fainting is a bit over the top, imo
So Anne has known Ka'kwet long enough to be able to speak their language?
Didn’t Gilbert learn form his experience with fainting that you shouldn’t look at needle/syringe?
“She’s teething and I’m leaving.”- Idk why I find that so funny
Let’s maybe not find Bash a wife. Maybe invite one of Mary’s friends from the bog to take care of the baby?
Indeed fiddlesticks, I’m going to agree with Anne. Charlie is simply not the one
Yes to Jerry asking for consent.
While I’m glad that Gilbert and Anne have a project, I’m still mad about Mary’s death.
Timing, Diana, timing.
The schoolhouse scene reminds me of “Summertime” in Grease.
Rachel has a point but remarrying so soon is a poor idea. Yay for family reunification.
Anne is correct, Anne Shirley-Cuthburt Sloane doesn’t have the same ring as Anne Shirley-Cuthbert Blythe
“If you hear her play, you’ll never recover.” -Diana does have a point
I like Diana’s plot line of her finding her place in the world and getting away from the grip of her parents. It better not be thwarted with her budding romance with Jerry. Why can’t she have both?
I thought you wrote obituaries immediately after they’ve passed.
Yes, the barn dance rehearsal is coming up.
Of course Ms. Lynde invites her son. It must be awkward seeing that Miss Stacy looks far happier dancing with your father than you.
God, this rehearsal is giving me PTSD from my teaching at a summer camp and my fifth grade ballroom dancing days.
God bless Miss Stacy for her patience and humility.
I know I should be mad that Ruby is being taught widely inaccurate and damaging facts about sex and gender relations but all of that is being sunk with the realization that Anne is entirely free to dance with Gilbert with no hangups.
“How much longer? I’m hungry.” Those are timeless words. I can’t really blame them because that’s what mostly occupies my mind any day of the week.
Ruby and Moody? I’m not mad at it.
Miss Stacy making a beeline for the group of students that had the necessary amount of guys was hilarious.
THAT SCENE WAS EVERYTHING.
The grin on his face when he took Anne’s hand and sung her around was just so *cue squealing noises*
I know it’s of the time period for the girls to wear aprons with their dresses but couldn’t they dance without their aprons for once.
I was so mad when the music broke.
I know Charlie is harmless but just say no Anne, just say no. Oh well, they’re just walking together.
Never mind, I take back the what I just said about Charlie. I know he’s like 16 but no. Just because Anne is smart and emotional doesn’t mean that she’ll be unable to have children. Where’s Miss Stacy when you need her?
Come on Marilla, reassure Anne. Oh well. Miss Stacy better by the end of the episode.
Now that Anne is incorrectly concerned about her possible infertility, Gilbert and Anne aren’t going to take off anytime soon.
Bash’s shit-eating grin when Gilbert is talking about the confusing feelings of love is so telling. Come on, tell Delphine. She wouldn’t tell. Also he’s chopping carrots, the symbolism but honestly, we love a man who can cook.
There’s SO MUCH second-hand embarrassment from the scene in front of the church.
Tillie does have a point about animal husbandry.
Seriously, when is Miss Stacy going to give the full sex talk? They need it ASAP. I love how well-informed Gilbert is but they need someone who has lived in the world as a female (and preferably someone who has bucked some of society’s conventions) to advise them.
I’m so glad that the Barrys acknowledge how crappy of them it was for them to exclude Mary when she wasn’t dying.
Besides the fact there were a lot of flammable things next to an open fire, that scene was absolutely needed.
I wonder if it’s a genuine Scottish ritual because every woman needs to do that.
I love that it’s Ruby who says “ I love being a woman”. I hope that’s a sign that she will soon be on a path towards learning more about her body and self.
The ending of the episode was everything I could ask for, I love how the writers chose for the characters to celebrate womanhood. I interpret Anne’s tossing of the flower crown as a symbol of maturity. She’s not setting aside her childhood but rather becoming more aware of her surroundings and thus, more mature. It was clear that it was the goat who just gave birth, who should have their full attention at the moment.
Final Thoughts:
Why weren’t there any scenes of Anne and Gilbert working on the obituary together? I was really looking forward to it.
I’m so happy we had this light episode because all throughout the season so far, we’ve only had doom and gloom.
I hope Mathew doesn’t think it was Anne who left Jerry the handkerchief.
Maybe Diana will takeover the family import business?
I wonder about which direction the writers are going to take with the indigenous storyline. Please let it not be a white savior one. Whichever direction they take is going to be heartbreaking but it’s necessary.
Oh Ruby. How do we solve a problem like Ruby?
Miss Stacy, sex talk ASAP.
