Idea 1

My first response to this brief was to re-design certain aspects of eBay such as the profiles. I thought this would be a great way to give eBay a more personal touch and attract a Gen Z audience. 

Idea 2

My second idea was to design a reward system that would make eBay a more interactive and visually appealing website to use. 

Chosen Idea

I have decided on going with my second idea. Firstly because I think it’s a solid idea that has been proven through many different companies to be successful. Secondly that it will allow me to create a visual element to accompany this new feature on the website.

Overall I think this is a secure idea that fits the brief and one that I can really use well to make a great piece of 3D animated work.

As you know, I don't yet have a copy of Mending Matters by @katrinarodabaugh. But that does not stop me from being inspired to think differently about my clothes. I don't need much of a prompt to get me pondering how I can increase the utility of things I already have on my rack that are good clothes, but which don't quite work in the life I have now. This genre -good, unworn clothes -comes from the days when I was working in academia. The ones I'm talking about -specifically about 4 pairs of lovely wool trousers -were my teaching and interview clothes. Then, something caught up with me that I'd been running from for a long time. This time it knocked the wind out of my life and laid waste to my job search. My life imploded as a result of the mis-diagnosis and incorrect medication of bi-polar. I had known something was wrong and was trying to get help but, unfortunately, I didn't get the right sort of help and was given an anti-depressant instead of a mood stabilizer. Anti-depressants send bi-polars into mania and, for me, mania is the most devastating part of bi-polar. I suffered what I call a 'life-implosion' and returned home to live with my mother and to begin to repair myself and my life with the correct diagnosis and medication. It is from her basement that I launched JUL and through that I was able to become independent again and to support myself and my son. Back to the clothes. Those clothes, I realized years after rebuilding my life, were full of trauma for me. I kept them because they are good clothes with nice fabrics, even though they don't quite work in the life I have now. BUT, I have some ideas���ideas for how to take them apart and put together the notions of turning from my grandmother, and re-purposing from the current concepts celebrated by the slow fashion movement. I think this process of turning, dis-assembling and re-assembling, transformation, will purge the trauma that is still there in those lovely trousers, though less pronounced than it once was. The mending I have to do is not of physical holes in the fabric from use, but mental and emotional damage I projected onto those good clothes. There is always more work to do. http://bit.ly/2S2Xwnw

IDEA 1: Community Vegetable Garden

Community vegetable gardens around the world have been credited with multiple beneficial outcomes. These include local political activism and environmental education. There is also the opportunity for employment and local economic development in the form of markets and food operatives. Not only does gardens make community spaces look more appealing, but they are intrinsically linked with promoting physical and mental well-being (Thompson, Corkery & Judd, 2007).

There are multiple community gardens that surround Brisbane (some examples are Jane Street in West End, Little Farm in New Farm or The Pocket in Woolloongabba). However, in order to make Northshore comparable we could also add an elements of Indigenous life.

PERSONALITY TEST

Upon taking the personality test my result was ISFP-T or Turbulent Adventurer, that has traits of Introverted, Sensing, Feeling and Perceiving. ISFPs make decisions based on their own values and feelings, while the Perceiving function makes them flexible, spontaneous, and easy-going. Their idea of friendship means enjoying a fun activity together with their friends and minding their own business. Which really describes who I am as an individual.

UC BERKLEY TEST

My result in taking the exam was 63.2 out of 100 which determines that I still need to improve more on the allocations as displayed on the analysis. Meaning I still have room to grow and learn various aspects.

TECHNOPRENEURSHIP IDEAS

IDEA 1- COMPACT MAGNIFIER

       While eyeglasses are commonly the ones recommended for people with poor eyesight, those are only available on people who can afford then and wear them in comfort. Therefore, with a substitution to that a hand-carry compact magnifier that is convenient, easy to carry and affordable to all.

IDEA 2- SECURE VENDING MACHINE

       Secure Vending machine is vending that gives your money back if the product is stuck. In inserting a coin, it will spiral to the desired product you choose, after spiraling 3 times and it doesn’t drop your product the vending machine will pay you back.

IDEA 2- CHARGING LOCKERS

       On a busy day like at school or work and you don’t have a powerbank, nor charger with you. You can charge your phone on the charging lockers that when you enter your qr/key that contains your details it allows you to lock/open it and automatically stops charging when your phone is full. If your key/qr is stolen or misplaced there is an authentication for more security.
