Mac and Dennis are so back this season and it looks as if it isn't great for (positive) character development, I'm loving it.

mac is definitely regressing in some way, not necessarily back into the closet but most definitely with his self-worth and confidence. this happens almost every time they go back to "normal" (co-dependent destructivity <3). then they "break up" which basically just means that mac becomes outwardly homophobic (this is mainly referencing what happened in season 6) or grows as a person and becomes more confident while dennis leaves or gives him the cold shoulder which results in a one-sided relationship that neither of them actually like being apart of. that's why season 15 was so important for the show's dynamic and longevity. I know a lot of people didn't like that season but personally, I appreciate it a ton and I'm glad i was correct about the amount of growth that mac, den, and the entire gang went through. also by growth, I mean growing back into their friendship, not actual growth that leads to them becoming better people. because that goes against what the entire show is about (I feel the need to clarify this). Anyway, I've been thinking a lot about insecure mac during the scene in 16,2 with uncle Donald. I really hope they elaborate more on that this season even though it hurts my heart a little bit.

Another thing im looking forward to is the 'Mental health day episode. dennis needs his own arc with a climactic emotional scene that isn't just played for laughs. mac and charlie have both had this kind of episode (mfhp and 'carries a corpse up a mountain). although i'm kind of scared that they won't do this regarding the recent backlash for the genuine emotional scenes in said episodes. and that's a real shame because I and many others really like those scenes, no matter how much they don't fit the general theme of the show. Im praying for dennis to be portrayed 100% accurately as the sad-girl that he is
