hey!! sorry if people have asked you this before (i'm sure they have) but where do you get your inspo for your art? your style is so cool and it motivates me so much to get better at drawing :)
Hello-hello! Awww, that's sweet of you to say, thank you💖
I've been answering this question in these two asks, where I talked mostly about artists and art movements, but as a person who is really fond of animation and has an animation degree, why not share something of this type of art? Maybe it'll inspire you too :3
"Blackford Manor" by Jiwook Kim
"Vincent" by Tim Burton and Rick Heinrichs
"The House" short Netflix stop-motion series
"Au Lapin Agile"
"Pépé Le Morse" by Lucrèce Andreae
I like to rewatch these, my creative motivation boosts ~

Suicide shop rant
For how much I love to criticise the movie for how it changed the original story ( in a lot of aspects making it worse) it did fix one of the biggest issues from the book.
"What is causing mìshima's issues to then spiral into murder?"
In the original book it made no sense why the thought of selling bad products would cause him to be bedbound, even during the scene where he's reflecting on his life we never get the single thought of him hurting his son ( at least that he acknowledges consciously), he instead considers the error of sending him to the camp in Monaco.
The attempted murder scene therefore comes out of nowhere, sure he thought about Alan's disaster and could have felt rage but we see previously that the thought of Alan actually dieing causes him pain ( as it should, that's your son), there is no mention of him possibly having issues that would alter his behaviour to cause this attempt "out of nowhere"
The movie instead shows mishima bending the rules ( of which he's obsessed with following) for a client that couldn't physically go to get the products and by doing so he ends up getting to know monsieur calmel, seeing his life before this moment thanks to the pictures and then being there for his death, mishima visually sees what he has done, he sees that the rules that he was thought to follow and that has followed for years have caused on people, he now sees himself as a murderer that can only cry while seeing his victims.
This causes him to question his morality in an amazing duet with Lucrèce who feels in a similar manner the guilt of their job, said questioning that leads him to despise Alan even more, Alan has been talking for years about the joy of life and how we should "all be happy" which causes mishima, at least for now, to associate Alan with the reason behind his sudden regret, he imagines killing him due to hallucinations but even outside of them thinking about killing him, slowly loosing his mind and attempting suicide.
After going to a therapist he gets diagnosed with schizophrenia and being bedbound, we see his mind and how he's feeling, we see how he can see what the shop does but he inconsciously associates his guilt on Alan.
The murder attempt is the pinnacle of his depravity, what should have destroyed his guilt, but when he thinks Alan died he feels even more of a murderer and physically not being able to even stand up, he finally realised what caused his guilt, not Alan but the shop.
For how much I dislike the ending it makes sense why he allows the shop to get closed, for how much he's still selling cyanide crepés against his wishes in secret he now acknowledges where his guilt is from, now he doesn't feel this hatred towards Alan ( he's still a terrible dad but it's improvement at least)
The movie did so much wrong with the story but this change improved the plot by far and made mìshima's rage more logical for the character.
But what do you guys think? Sorry for any spelling errors I'm dyslexic as hell

This might be kinda early but whats the ROs' reaction on the 'bug bites in hickeys disguise' scenario? 👀
Crushing stage!!
Thank you so much for the ask and sorry for the late reply!
Here are the reactions of the ROs about the "bug bites, hickeys in disguise" with two different scenarios! I hope it was what you asked! (If not, let me know, and I'll answer the question again!)
During the crushing stage, they didn't give any hickeys to MC, but they saw the "bug bite":
Ashton: An irk flashes inside him, a frown on his face. "It's a bug bite", MC says, and he wants to believe them (not that it matters to him), still he's tempted to brush lightly over the bite with his fingertips "Let me see, I wouldn't like you to get a reaction because of it". If it's just a real bug bite he will smile softly, giving MC something for the swelling. If not… jealousy will simmer in his blood, and he'll probably mutter something like "A bug bite, huh?" He would still give something to MC because he wants it gone (even though he shouldn't care, he doesn't actually, you know, not at all)
Lucrèce: A raised eyebrow, a smirk giving away on his lips "A bug bite?" he would say, coming closer to MC to see this supposed bug bite, he for sure has seen many of it. If it's actually a bug bite, all is good, he will chuckle and say to MC to go to Hazel if the irritation or swelling grows because of it. If he sees it's not, cold will wash away any warmth in his smile and face, "Really? I'm curious to see what insect leaves this kind of bite" a sarcastic remark, to hide the hurt inside (that he should not feel, he's supposed to not feel anything at all for them)
Hazel: Wide eyes, a preoccupied expression, because she's actually worried: certain bug bites could be dangerous or chafing, and it's better to deal with them immediately. If it's really some bug bite, she will quickly deal with it, chatting with a smile over some childhood memories about MC getting in trouble or where a similar occasion occurred. If not, she will freeze momentarily, her worries turning into something colder and darker. She will give MC a cream to deal with the bruise, remarking on how they should be more careful and "I thought you could tell me everything, I guess this changed too" (why does she feel so bitter? She knows she has no right, but still… it hurts)
Zane: Pinched expression, worry and doubt mixed in it, because it doesn't seem like a bug bite (MC said it is, they should believe and not question them) but if it is, it's better to ask Hazel or Ashton to analyze it and give something to MC. If it is, Zee will smile brightly, if it's not serious, feeling relieved and a little guilty about the doubt they felt toward MC. (why? It's not their place) They'll then search for what food or treatment is good for dealing with it, and what bug leaves that certain type of bite, so they'll be ready next time. If it is not… the insecurities and doubt will only grow. Why did they lie? Who did it? Do they truly not matter anymore to MC? No, it's not Zane's business: they should NOT feel bitter toward MC. So they'll try to ignore it (both the lie & hickey) and not say anything at all (even though they want, they should, they care)
Marilyn: Curiosity, a teasing smile growing on what she thinks is MC's clear lie. "A bug's bite? What's their name? Because they did a horrible job, let me tell you" a laugh to ignore the hurt she feels deep inside. Once she finds out it was really a bug's bite, she'll apologize to MC, feeling remorseful for her hasty comment. She'll try to make some light jokes about the whole ordeal, to make both feel better. But if it wasn't all along, she will keep pushing her light humor and teasing "Change partner next time, that thing is hideous MC" (It should have been me, why it wasn't me? Why I'm thinking this? I don't feel anything for MC… right?)
During the crushing stage, where they are the ones responsible for MC's "bug bite":
Ashton: Each time his eyes fall on it, he feels like smiling, but instead, he frowns: Why did he leave a hickey on MC? He shouldn't have, they… they're nothing. They're not even friends anymore. Still, when he hears MC say it's just a bug bite he's torn between snorting or saying it was him the one who left that mark on them.
Lucrèce: Each time his eyes fall on it, he feels smug and… satisfied. He usually doesn't leave any marks on his one-night stand partners, but with MC… he doesn't know why he did it, but he sure feels complacent when he hears MC say it's just a bug bite. They both know it's not.
Hazel: Each time her eyes fall on it, she blushes, averting her eyes from the hickey she left. Why did she do it? MC is not hers, they're not a couple, she… oh, my: she does have a crush on them, doesn't she? Hearing MC say it's a bug bite irks her, but at the same time, she's relieved by the lie, leaving her with a faint blush and a soft smile. They know the truth. For now, that's enough.
Zane: Each time their eyes fall on it, they smile with a faint blush or fake cough and look away or up, trying not to think about the hickey visible on MC. The one they left and oh, they can't seem to stop thinking about it, about that moment they shared. Hearing MC say it's a bug bite makes them giggle softly, trying to act as if nothing is wrong and to get away the attention from it. They do feel very bashful inside.
Marilyn: Each time her eyes fall on it, she avoids immediately eye contact with everyone. Especially MC, because she can't believe she did that. She doesn't ever do something like this, not even with her ex-partners, but with MC, in that moment… she wanted to leave a mark on them. To let everyone know of her feelings. Now she regrets it. Because she doesn't have feelings for them. Nope, not at all. Hearing MC say it's a bug bite leaves her with a bitter taste in her mouth because it's not just a bug bite, but she ignores it and makes some jokes or light remarks about it.
I do think that Ashton, Lucrèce, Marilyn would say something like "I wonder who was the bug that bit you MC…", just to see their reaction, ahaha.

Animation shows: The art of drawing society (4/4)
Grandpa Walrus
Cartoons are a colorful medium that creators like to use to depict their vision of our modern world. Therefore this series of articles will be dedicated to animated TV, internet shows and movies of this last year which humorously describes our contemporary society. Today a short film that explores different ways of grieving. Children find death to be a brutal and incomprehensible experience. “Grandpa Walrus” explores the imagination of children who struggle to cope with a tragic event: the death of their grandfather.
Tumblr media
Grandpa Walrus or Pépé le morse is an animated short film directed by Lucrèce Andreae which was awarded best animated short at the 2018 César awards. The movie starts with a panorama of the cold and grey beach. Twelve-years-old Lucas, our narrator, explains the expression “grandpa walrus”: “One of my friends told me that in Russia, there are some kind of huge guys who spend their lives tanning, even when it’s cold. They are called walruses! I think that Grandpa was a walrus. And now he is dead”. Olivia who is the mother, Granny, the twins Jade and Mélissa, and Lucas who is carrying his baby brother Marcus are out in the middle of October on a cold and windy beach to pay a last tribute to their grandpa. The atmosphere is not at all ceremonious. The twins are talking about boys, the grandmother falls on the ground in devotion every two steps and Olivia is just trying to get through this nonsense. Finally arriving on the beach the family is faced with the horrifying vision of tons of cigarette butts spread on the sand forming the silhouette of the grandfather’s body. Then each of the characters split upon the immense beach mourning their grandfather in different ways. The young character’s imaginations come to life. Lucas is facing a frightful vision of a humanoid walrus smoking a cigarette. The twins live a near death experience when they get attacked by plants and little Marius is running away in the oceans.
youtube
It’s a deeply poetic animated film which explores dark themes such as death and mourning through visions that are both beautiful and nightmarish. Nevertheless, the characters remain very realistic. They shout, insult each other and argue. Although they are experiencing the same tragic event, they don’t understand each other. While Lucas and the grandma seem to have the same admiration for the patriarch, Olivia remains  resentful toward a man who for her was selfish and who died a pathetic death just like he lived a pathetic life.
Tumblr media
On this large beach, the characters are reduced to their littleness. Lucrèce Andreae's film is a story that is both personal and universal. For the film, she drew inspiration from her personal life. In an interview, she said that the idea for her film came from a friend that lives in Saint Petersburg. She told her the story of the “walruses”: men who spent their lives sunbathing whether it’s winter or summer. For the beach, she was inspired by the Atlantic coast where she spent time with her parents. Finally, the small eclectic group was more or less a depiction of her family.
Tumblr media
Death is a universal subject. Lucrèce Andreae also used international references to make this poetic animated short film. She chose to set the movie on a beach in reference to Shoji Ueda’s photos. The beach setting is something universal. For Lucrèce Andreae Shoji’s photos are both poetic and absurd.  These two adjectives can also be used to qualify her film. The vulgar and grotesque characters of Italian cinema were a source of inspiration for the characters of this animated short film. Moreover, the fantastic visions in a realistic setting are a clear reference to Hayao Myasaki's Japanese animated movies.

Spirited away, Hayao Myazaki, 2001
In the film statement of intent, the director writes her motivation for making this film. These words can also serve as a conclusion to this series of articles: “As Charlie Chaplin once said: “ Life is a tragedy in close up, but it is a comedy in wide shot ” and I am convinced that you just need a little distance from things so you can laugh at anything”.
In this series of articles I wanted to show that cartoons are mediums through which we can talk about anything. If I haven't convinced the readers, I hope at least you've been able to discover some great animated movies or TV shows.

TITLES & OCCUPATION :  lieutenant colonel of the french armed forces , heir apparent to the duchess of thouars  . comfortable being referred to by his military title or " my lord . "
BIRTHDAY  &  AGE :  november 14  (  35  )  .
GENDER :  demi man  .
PRONOUNS :  he / him / his and they / them / theirs  .
ORIENTATION :  bisexual biromantic , polyamorous  .
STATUS :  unwed .
LANGUAGES SPOKEN : french , mandarin chinese , spanish , others .
TRAITS :  adroit , undaunted , resentful , magnetic , duplicitous  . neutral evil .
INSPIRED BY : patrick jane ( the mentalist ) , mizu ( blue eye samurai ) , charles sun ( the brothers sun ) , the prince and the pauper , the cain complex .
HISTORY .
TL;DR : a man born with nothing schemes seeks everything they ever wanted , no matter the price / an injured wolf found at your doorstep — you may let it in , may nurse it back to health , but remember that a wolf will always be a wolf .
born in china , the product of a torrid love affair between a local woman and a sailor . émile quickly learned that they had an older brother once ; their mother's son , from well before she met émile's father . he was gone long before they were born , yet his ghost haunted the child nonetheless . nothing they did seemed to be good enough for their mother , as she cited all of their older brother's feats at their age .
eventually , émile and their mother uprooted their lives and set out for france , their father's home country . they never found the man , but their mother became a laundress for the duchess in a city called poitiers , and there , émile met the duchess' eldest son , sylvain . the first remark , even before greetings , was that their resemblance was uncanny .
as the children played together , puerile antics led to a proposition : to switch clothes , to switch places . with noble parents and an overworked , perpetually grieving mother respectively , the ruse wasn't so difficult to keep up . especially when sylvain was allergic to study , content to live out his days mingling with the common people instead . so émile spent swathes of time in sylvain's shoes ( and pants , and shirt , and the rest of his clothes ) . they even studied his reading materials in their free time , as themself .
the duchess noticed the apparent change . her son , who had suddenly taken an interest in his lessons , in being her heir , became her pride and joy . and émile , masquerading as sylvain , basked in her praises , things they were so unaccustomed to hearing from their own mother .
as  sylvain and émile approached  young  adulthood  ,  their  similarities  were  becoming  fewer  and  far  between  .  they  were  becoming  their  own  people  ,  and  ideas  had  been  swirling  around  émile's  mind  for  quite  some  time  .  they  already  spent  so much  time  as  sylvain  ,  were clearly  worthier  of  the  title  he  was  born  with  .  so  ,  émile  devised  a  plan  .  when  the  two  of  them  swapped  clothes  for  the  final  time  ,  émile  led  sylvain  out  into  the  forest  and  struck  him  down  ,  marking  up  his  face  just  enough  for  his  identity  to  be  ambiguous  .  then  ,  they  ran  .
at  20  ,  émile  returned  to  poitiers  —  claiming to be the long - lost  sylvain  .  no  longer  a  boy  ,  but  a  young  man  ,  surely  he'd  gone  through  enough  change  that  his  appearance  would  hold  up  to  scrutiny  .  weaving  together  a  story  was  much  simpler  ,  anyway  ;  already able to  answer  obscure  questions  about  boyhood  , any gaps could be easily filled in .  and  the  duchess  fell  for  it  wholeheartedly .
once  settled  in  ,  they  expressed  interest  in  enlisting  in  the  army  ,  despite  the  duchess'  protests  .  she'd  only  just  gotten  them  back  ,  why  must  they  leave  again  ?  but  they  insisted  , citing a family history of military service .  really , though , they wished to feel wanted for something . something they couldn't find neither in poitou , nor as they wandered the far corners of the world . so  ,  after  completing  their  studies  , off  they  went  .  over  time  ,  they  rose  through  the  ranks  as  a  member  of  the  cavalry  .
but recognition for their martial achievements , evidently , wasn't enough . not before the reckoning , and certainly not after . they needed more , and set their sights on more lucrative targets , and on opportunities outside of the country he had come to call home .
HEADCANONS .
wanting to one - up the brother he never knew propels nearly every aspect of sylvain's life .
sees  his  biological  mother  on  occasion  ,  as  she's  still  on  the  la  tremoille  payroll  after  all  these  years  .  sometimes  he  wonders  if  he  needs  to  tie  up  that  particular  loose  end  ,  but  it's  been  years  since  he's  seen  any  spark  of  recognition  in  her  eye  .  which  just  …  makes  him  feel  even  worse  tbh  . but there's still an innate desire within sylvain to win her favor .
the  la  tremoille  family  is  known  for  its  influence  —  as  military  leaders  ,  as  politicians  ,  as  friends  to  the  orléans  .  they've  been  a  fixture  of  the  french  court  for  centuries  .
being  a  cavalryman  ,  they  are  also  ,  naturally  ,  a  horse  girl  (  gender  neutral  )  .  they've  got  one  mount  with  them  :  their  war  horse  ,  areion  .  normally  ,  they  also  have  at least one  hack  for  everyday  activity  ,  but  considering  the  distance  from  home  ,  and  resources  required  to  spoil  take  care  of  multiple  horses  ,  they  elected  to  only  bring  areion  along  .
has fully adapted to living as sylvain , and doesn't even react when he hears the name " émile . " rarely , overhearing " emmy " seems to get a moment of pause out of him , but it's more confusion than anything else . he'll shrug it off as hearing the name of " an old friend . "
NAME & ETYMOLOGY .
ÉMILE : french form of the roman family name aemilius , which is derived from the latin aemulus , " rival . "
ZHIHAO : from chinese . it combines 志 ( zhì ) " purpose , will , determination , " and 豪 ( háo ) " brave , heroic , chivalrous . "
SUN : from 孫 ( sūn ) , " grandchild , descendant . "
SYLVAIN : french form of silvanus , derived from the latin silva , " of the woods . " silvanus was a roman cognomen , as well as the name of the roman tutelary of forests .
LUCRÈCE : french form of lucretius , possibly from the latin lucrum " wealth , profit . "
( DE ) LA TRÉMOÏLLE : unknown . descended from la trimouille , the name of a village in poitou , france .
named after my second favorite blue lion from fe3h .
WANTED CONNECTIONS .
HIS YOUNGER SIBLINGS ( ALSO ON THE MAIN ! ) : aware  that  sylvain  had  a  lookalike  when  he  was  younger  ,  perhaps  they have  suspicions  about  his  return  over a decade ago .  despite any distrust , sylvain tries to be a good big brother , in his own way . they are influential  at  court  , within france and / or abroad ,  as  part  of  the  ambitious de  la  tremoille  brood  .  21  to  33  .
A CHILDHOOD FRIEND : someone who knew sylvain well before he became the person he is today ( when they were still just émile ) , and doesn't even realize because he's changed so much ? but he remembers them . and in spite of all the walls he's put up , all the terrible things he's done , he still holds a tenderness for them . essentially , he'll still screw them over if he needs to , but he would think twice about it .
SHIPS IN THE NIGHT : there's  a  four  or  five  year  gap  in  sylvain's  life  they  refuse  to  speak  of  .  during that time  ,  they  traveled  ,  returning  to  china  for  a  stretch  of  time  .  if someone crossed paths with him at the time , they would have witnessed a young man trying  to  find  purpose  ,  seizing  every  opportunity  they  could  to  get  ahead  ,  and  fighting  to  survive  .
ENEMIES & ADVERSARIES : not eager to burn a bridge unless he absolutely must , that certainly doesn't mean sylvain is without enemies . i'd also love to see someone he spurned in his pursuit of power , maybe turning down a betrothal with them in favor of finding a royal to marry instead .

Philosophy of science is something that I’ve been trying to get into lately, especially philosophy of physics - what other way to bring my two most favorite things together? But it’s genuinely difficult - as it ought to be, being something interdisciplinary.
I’ve been trying to read David Z. Albert’s essays in After Physics, and they have been a slog, and I’m probably going to try reading it again. The same goes for many of the other classics in the genre I’ve attempted to read: Time Reborn by the physicist Lee Smolin, and the parts of the sequel The Singular Universe and the Reality of Time with Roberto Unger, a book of which I’ve read parts. Others have been Bergson and Modern Physics by Milič Čapek which focuses on the areas of Henri Bergson’s temporal metaphysics that anticipated both the quantum-mechanical and the relativistic revolutions in physics.
In the same vein is Order Out Of Chaos by the Nobel prize-winning chemist Ilya Prigogine and philosopher Isabelle Stengers (originally published as La Nouvelle Alliance). It was an interesting description of the evolution of the Newtonian paradigm from Newton to Laplace and Lagrange, and in later portions delved deep into statistical mechanics and thermodynamics, fields which I am obviously unfamiliar with, even if the book as a whole has been stimulating, and is an excellent accidental sequel to Michel Serres’ The Birth of Physics (originally published La Naissance de la physique dans le texte de Lucrèce), covering Lucretius’s epic poem De rerum natura, and also thermodynamics, Archimedean mathematics, and fluid mechanics.
Here’s to more exciting reading ahead!

I always compared the tuvaches with the addams family but I think they are the opposite side of the same trope.
The addams are seen as a creepy family that isolates themselves from others, they are feared and their relationship with death is seen as absurd but the more we see them the more we see them as a healthy family that loves each other, they are actually great people and their relationship with death is less unsettling and more positive the more people talk to them.
The tuvaches instead are the centre of the city, the "Ray of light" of the town, sure they occasionally creep people out with the way they talk about death but everyone thinks similarly, they are extremely respected but when we actually get to see them deeper we notice how they are toxic people ( excluding mishima and Lucrèce with each other and alan with everyone but not corresponded) whose relationship with death is slowly killing them.
The "creepy family" trope can be viewed in different ways and putting these two pieces of media next to each other we can see how similar yet different the trope can be interpreted.

Care to share some facts about the ROs?
Hi! Thanks for the question! Since I received three of them, I'll divide them into three parts, so to share more facts about the ROs! This is the first part!
Ashton: his father is Korean American, while his mother is Japanese; He studied to become a doctor (to be a medical examiner), but then his acting career took off; He's 179cm / 5'10.5"; His birthday is December 24th (He's a Capricorn); Here's his reference for skin/eyes/hair color; He's known MC since middle school; Zee, Hazel and Lucrèce from high school; Marilyn & Maribel since his 20s;
Lucrèce: his father is British, while his mother is Lao. The truth is that his "father" is not his biological father, who remains a mystery to this day. He studied both Law and Business, since he's the heir and future CEO of his family pharmaceutical company; He's 183cm / 6'0"; His birthday is August 9th (He's a Leo); Here's his reference for skin/eyes/hair color; He's known MC since high school, and Hazel since middle school, they became a couple in high school, and he proposed to her in their 20s. They recently broke up. He had known Zee & Marilyn since high school, and he met Maribel in his 20s.
Hazel: her parents are both British, they were never married and now are with different people; She studied to be a pharmacist, and now works as such; She's 165cm / 5'5"; Her birthday is May 4th (She's a Taurus); Here's her reference for skin/eyes/hair color; She and MC have known each other since they were babies, their mothers were best friends, but they lost touch during middle school (frequenting different schools), meeting again during high school. She's known Ashton & Marilyn from high school, and Zee & Maribel in her 20s.
Zane: both of their parents are African Americans, and they recently celebrated their 40 years of marriage; They studied cinematography, and for now, they're working as a photographer, but they dream of becoming a filmmaker; They're 193cm / 6'4"; Their birthday is March 2nd (They're a Pisces); Here's their reference for skin/eyes/hair color; They and MC have known each other since high school, some months after they had become friends with Ashton; They've known Hazel & Lucrèce during the same period, but they've spoken and met for real in their 20s, the same for Marilyn & Maribel;
Marilyn: her father is Irish, while her mother is Colombian; After high school she didn't frequent any university or college, focusing on her career as a singer, her current job; She's 173cm / 5'8"; Her birthday is July 20th (She's a Cancer); Here's her reference for skin/eyes/hair color; She and MC knew each other by sight during high school, but met for real during a party in their 20s; She's been best friends with Hazel since high school, where she met & knew Lucrèce, Ashton, and Zane.
Little by little, I'll answer all the asks and post more information about the game!
