𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 [𝐓𝐖𝐎] — 𝐒𝐊𝐘𝐄 𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐘
Tumblr media
one / three / masterlist / wattpad
summary: as you and Skye try to relearn how to be friends again, you realise it’s harder than you thought.
warning/s: mentions of injury, substance abuse, poor mental health and basically everything Skye goes through oof.
author's note: here’s part 2! so sorry it was delayed, i’ve been stuffed with cold for the past few days so didn’t have chance to share it. Hope this makes up for it anyway :)
Tumblr media
"...and I'm just outside your building now," I said to Skye over the phone, lingering outside.
"I was just about to call," she said in a rushed voice, sounding apologetic. "I'm running late, but I'm almost there. Give or take ten minutes. You can head straight up. The doorman knows to let you in and the spare key is in the same place as always."
I hesitated at her response.
It wasn't a big deal, I'd been to her apartment many times, but it had also been a year since I'd last been and it felt strange to go up alone. Especially because I was just supposed to be meeting her to go out, not actually going inside.
"Oh, I can just wait outside, it's okay," I said, maybe a little too quickly, but she didn't seem to notice.
"No, it's fine, you head up, I'll be with you soon," she assured me, before I heard a sound in the background. "I gotta go. See you in ten!"
I chewed my lip before putting my phone away and heading straight inside. As Skye said, the doorman recognised me and let me straight up, and it felt odd. The last time I'd been in the lift, I was crying on the way down from that awful argument between Skye and I. I hadn't been back since – I'd had no need to. But now...
It wasn't the same, I had to remind myself of that. She wasn't the same. None of this was.
Over the past few weeks, we'd somewhat returned to how things used to be, but it was all baby steps. Being each other's friend was second nature, and yet moments like this sometimes had me stumbling in the dark.
I found her door at the end of the hall, digging out the spare key from behind the framed painting next to it. A stupid place to keep it I'd always thought, but the whole place was guarded anyway so it didn't matter.
After opening the door, I returned the key to its spot before letting myself in. Everything looked the same as I last remembered it, and I didn't want to admit it to myself, but I'd missed it. I still remembered when she bought it and moved in, after her career picked up overnight. We'd had countless movie nights here, sleepovers that lasted days sometimes, and it just brought back so many memories. Good, as well as bad, but I tried not to focus on the latter.
I began to walk around aimlessly, waiting for her to return, eyeing the cabinet full of awards, the framed albums, admiring the penthouse view from her living room, and then I came across some framed photos hung on the wall. Some were of her and her mum when she was a kid, others were as she grew up, and then I spotted a familiar one.
It was a photo of Skye performing her first ever single on her first ever TV appearance years ago, and it was a photo taken by me, one of my first professional gigs as a photographer. A small smile tugged at my lips, realising she hadn't taken it down. I was touched that she kept it.
The door opening made me glance away and see Skye rushing in, looking a bit dishevelled. When she spotted me, she smiled with relief.
"Hey, sorry, I didn't mean to run late," she said as she closed the door behind her.
"It's fine," I said dismissively, before joking, "You know, you're a little too trustworthy. It's been a year. I totally could have come up here and, like, I don't know, robbed you or something. Sold your shit on eBay."
She tossed her bag to the couch as she laughed quietly, quirking a brow. "Oh, really? A year and you've suddenly turned into a criminal?"
"I could've."
"What a personality change."
I laughed as she stopped by my side, nudging me in the arm slightly, before her gaze fell to the photos hung on the wall.
"Ah, going through memory lane, I see," she teased lightheartedly.
I glanced at her with a slight smile. "It's cute that you've still got it. Even if it is a terrible photo."
"It's not," she said with a chuckle, looking at it with pride. "It's a two in one, I had to keep it. My first TV appearance and the day I met you. It just makes it extra special that you took the photo."
My cheeks grew warm at her words, and I found myself staring at her profile as she smiled reminiscently at the photo. We'd come so far since then and yet I still did a double take whenever I looked to her. Maybe some things hadn't changed...
"I'm just gonna change my clothes and then we can head out," she said after a moment. "Won't be long."
"It's cool, take your time," I said with a nod, watching as she went to her room, before looking back to the photo and finding myself smiling all over again.
Becoming friends with Skye again made it easy to remember all the best parts of having a friendship with her, so much that I almost forgot what led to everything being ruined in the first place.
Of course there was the substance abuse, but the reason for that was the anxieties and stresses that came with being one of the most popular celebrities in the world. And it definitely didn't help that Skye never had a lot of support from her team, who only ever saw her as a commodity. Clearly that hadn't changed.
I'd just finished some work one morning and had plans to hang out with Skye after, maybe catch a movie or something as she had the day off, we hadn't really decided. But when I called her, she answered groggily.
"Hey, Skye, you good?" I asked jokingly.
She made a sound like a yawn before humming. "Yes, sorry, I was just napping. Just been tired."
"Oh, I was calling to say I'm free now, but we can rearrange if–"
"No, no, I want to see you," she cut me off with assurance, forcing herself to sound more lively. "A movie, right? Or lunch?"
I tried not to snicker. "Skye, it's your day off and you sound exhausted. It's alright."
"I'm fine, honest," she said confidently, or an attempt at it. "Please, I was looking forward to seeing you."
I sighed, debating whether or not to listen to her. Then, I thought of a solution. "How about we stay in? I can come to yours and we can watch a movie there?"
"Yes, I'd love that," she said with a hint of relief. "Thank you. I'll get the blankets warmed up in the dryer, ready for your arrival."
I laughed quietly. "Sounds good. I'll bring some snacks and be over soon."
And just like that, we both kept to our word and got comfortable on her couch barely half an hour later. Snacks were laid out on the coffee table whilst two fluffy blankets covered us completely. Still, we leaned against each other for warmth.
Skye was definitely burnt out, her general enthusiasm diminished temporarily and her movements sluggish, but she was smiling all the same as she spent time with me. I knew she meant it, but it still worried me that she wasn't getting enough time to simply rest.
"How's tour stuff going?" I asked as she loaded up a film on Netflix.
She shrugged as she focused on the task at hand. "Alright. Been busy. You know how it can get."
I glanced at her. "I do."
She must have noticed my staring as she stopped what she was doing and looked over at me with an amused smile. "What?"
"Nothing," I said nonchalantly, looking to the TV. "Just remember that you can take a break if you need to. It's important or you'll risk burning out."
She sighed, leaning her head on my shoulder and playing with the blanket mindlessly. "I know. I am."
"Enough breaks," I clarified, watching her hands play with it. "I mean, your team are supportive, I'm sure, but they don't always know what's best for you."
She snorted with amusement, glancing up at me. "And you do?"
I met her gaze, half playful and half serious. "Maybe. Maybe not. But I'll always be an advocate of you taking a freakin' break."
She suppressed a smile as she nudged me appreciatively. "You're right. I will. I guess I've just been busy making sure everything is perfect. It has to be, you know? Especially after everything."
"I know," I said sympathetically. "I get it. Just... take care of yourself. Please."
She nodded, though sunk further into the couch as she laced her hands around my arm to get comfortable, almost like she was ending the conversation without saying so. I took the hint and looked back to the screen.
"Picked a film yet?" I asked.
"Almost."
Despite how easy it was to fall back into everything with Skye, there were still topics we didn't discuss. Like we never brought up our friendship-ending argument again, or her time in rehab, and she never talked about the accident. It wasn't that I didn't leave that space open for her to discuss, but it was definitely her way of keeping that separate by not bringing it up. And naturally, I didn't want to force her to relive it by bringing it up either.
But not talking about it meant I didn't always know how to help her.
We were walking around a park near her apartment one evening, enjoying a stroll at first, but then we started to mess around on some of the playing equipment since the place was deserted.
"You really think you can clear it in ten seconds?" I asked her with a laugh as she looked up at the monkey bars.
"I do, yeah," she said, mirroring my laughter as she glanced at me. "You just watch. Go on. Grab your phone. Timer at the ready please."
Curious, I pulled out my phone and stepped back, finger hovering over the timer. "Ready when you are, idiot."
She grinned before standing beneath the monkey bars. Looking up at them, she took a deep breath, about to jump up, but I intentionally interrupted to throw her off.
"You sure you don't wanna stretch first?"
She jumped and glared at me playfully. "Shut up. Just get ready."
I laughed and waited patiently, watching as she readied herself once more. And then she jumped up to grab the bars and I started the timer.
She managed to move down three bars before faltering at the fourth one and then letting go all of a sudden. My eyes widened when she landed on the tarmac with a sharp gasp, and I forgot all about the stupid timer as I rushed to check on her.
"Shit, Skye, you okay?" I asked quickly, kneeling down beside her.
Her face contorted in pain as her hand clutched her back. She was leaning on her elbow, clearly hurt.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," she muttered quickly, though she winced and her eyes were squeezing shut to suppress the pain.
I noticed she was holding her back – not really putting together that it was from her existing back pain from the accident – and tried to help by reaching for her jacket to see if she'd hurt it from the fall.
"No!" she suddenly shouted when she saw me attempting to touch her, and I jumped.
"Okay, sorry, sorry," I apologised, not wanting to overwhelm or upset her anymore than she already was.
I moved my hand back, but she grabbed it and squeezed gently before I could, an attempt at an apology for her outburst. A shaky sigh escaped her lips as she breathed out the pain, and I didn't say anything more as I held her hand, waiting patiently. Though my heart was clenching with concern the longer she took.
"It hurts sometimes," she finally spoke, avoiding my eyes, "from the accident. That's all."
When I realised it was much more than just falling from the monkey bars, I felt stupid and spoke without thinking. "Do you have medicine?"
She tensed her jaw as she glanced at me.
"Stupid question, sorry," I realised, grimacing.
She let go of my hand and shook her head, expression softening. "No, it wasn't."
Something was bothering her, more than the pain, but now wasn't the time to ask, so I settled on helping her stand up.
"Maybe we should call it a night," I said carefully. "It's getting late anyway."
She nodded, still avoiding my eyes, and we both walked back to her apartment in an awkward silence. A million things were running through my mind, mostly out of concern for Skye, and acknowledging my utter stupidity. For once, I couldn't read her.
When we reached the lobby inside, we paused by the lift.
"Are you okay?" I asked, trying to dial down my worry for her sake.
"Yes, sorry," she muttered.
"It's fine," I assured her, eyes scanning her expression as she purposely looked at my shirt and not me. "I didn't mean to overstep before. Sorry if I made you uncomfortable."
She shook her head, eyes flickering to mine briefly, sad, before looking down to her shoes. "You didn't. I just–"
She paused, a moment too long, enough to make me wonder what had her so uneasy.
"It's not pretty," she finally spoke, quieter than usual. "The... the scar. It's..."
"You don't need to explain," I said, when she didn't speak anymore, though my heart ached with concern, soon realising her uneasiness was embarrassment. An unnecessary embarrassment at that, as if I'd care about a scar when she was still here, alive.
I gave her a moment, hoping she'd say something more, but she didn't.
"Will you be okay?" I asked worriedly, not wanting to leave her tonight if her back was flaring up.
She nodded. "Yeah."
I nodded too, though was unsure how to say my goodbyes. Usually I'd go in for a hug, but she was already uncomfortable with me touching her before and the last thing I wanted was to do that again.
But then she finally looked up, eyes meeting mine gratefully, before she hugged me.
"Thanks for not thinking I'm weird," she mumbled into my shoulder, arms wrapped around them tightly.
I returned the hug gently. "I could never."
She didn't let go straight away and neither did I, not until she made the first move since clearly she needed this hug more than I did.
Finally, she pulled apart and offered me a small smile. "Goodnight, Y/N."
"Goodnight," I said, returning her smile, before reluctantly leaving her.
It was the first time we'd even come close to talking about the accident and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. She wasn't opening up and I wondered if she felt like she couldn't. But maybe that incident was the key, because things changed soon after.
About a week later, I was fast asleep when I woke up to my phone vibrating on my bedside table. Confused, I cracked an eye open, wondering who could be calling in the middle of the night, but then the vibrating stopped. I considered if I cared that much, before deciding it could've been an emergency and checking who it was.
When I saw Skye's name, I woke up a little more, overcome with concern since she'd never called like this before. Immediately, I rang her back. It took two rings before she picked up.
"Hello?" she answered with confusion.
Still half asleep, I answered groggily, "Why are you confused? You just called me."
She sighed. "I did. Sorry. I cut it off when I realised."
She sounded different, her voice hoarse.
"What's wrong?" I asked, sitting up in bed and rubbing my eyes.
"Sorry, I just–" She tutted at herself. "It's late, Y/N, go back to sleep."
Even half conscious, I knew she wasn't okay. "Skye."
It went quiet, but she gave in, to my relief. "I had a bad dream," she admitted quietly. "I just wanted to distract myself. I didn't mean to wake you."
I frowned to myself. "Are you okay?"
A shaky sigh escaped her lips. "I will be. Really, just go to sleep, I'll be fine."
"I can't sleep knowing you're by yourself," I told her, too tired to hide my worry.
She paused, and then her voice came out guiltily, "Sorry."
"Don't apologise," I said gently, before asking, "Do you want me to come over?"
"No," she answered quickly, before adding, "It's late. I don't want you up and about this late into the night."
I was already pulling my duvet off and sitting at the edge of my bed as I said, "It's not a problem, Skye." It went quiet on her end, so I prompted, "Skye?"
"You don't mind?" she asked hesitantly.
Realising she did in fact want me there, I tried to reassure her. "No, of course not. I can come now."
She practically held her breath. "I owe you."
"You don't."
Exhaling softly, she said, "I'll send a cab to get you. I'll cover the cost. I don't want you on public transport in New York when all the weirdos are out."
I cracked a small smile. "Okay, Skye, see you soon."
Sounding relieved, she said, "See you soon."
I yawned as I hung up, trying to move quickly but still trying to wake up and so unintentionally moving at snail speed. After packing a small bag, including a change of clothes and some toiletries, I pulled on my shoes and a jacket before leaving for Skye's.
The taxi ride wasn't long since the streets weren't busy, and I found myself at Skye's door in less than twenty minutes. As soon as I knocked, she opened up.
"Hey," I said with a tired smile, before hugging her in greeting. "How are you?"
She hugged me back and let me in, closing the door behind me. I noticed she was wearing her pyjamas, hair dishevelled and eyes a little red.
"Better now," she admitted, before frowning. "I'm sorry I woke you up. But I'm glad you're here."
"I'm glad you did," I told her, before leaving my bag by the kitchen counter. "So, what do you want to do?"
"You're tired," she noticed.
I waved a hand dismissively, trying to look more awake. "I can stay awake if you want, Skye."
She sighed, shaking her head, before wordlessly grabbing my hand and dragging me to her bedroom.
"Come on," she said as she climbed into her queen sized bed, so I got out of my shoes and jacket and followed suit, settling in beside her.
We laid on our backs, staring up at the ceiling in silence. I chewed on the inside of my cheek as I glanced at her, her expression dimly lit by the moonlight and lights shining through her blinds. She was weary, though attempting to hide it.
"Do you have bad dreams often?" I asked curiously.
She swallowed visibly. "Not as much as I used to, but... sometimes, yeah." She paused, as if stuck in an internal debate, before admitting, "It was about the accident."
At the mention of the accident, the air in the room felt charged with uncertainty, and Skye's jaw tensed slightly.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked tenderly, and when she didn't reply, I quickly added, "Or you don't have to at all."
Her dark eyes flickered to mine, surprisingly calm. "It's okay. It's just– it's a lot. And when I'm alone, it's..."
"A lot," I finished for her.
She nodded, looking back up at the ceiling. "Yeah."
I found her hand between us, squeezing it gently in support.
"I remember how difficult it was after," she muttered. "That, and the withdrawals, and all of it – it was a lot. Being in the hospital... I had my mum, but it felt so lonely."
I frowned as she recalled the experience, hearing it for the first time from her lips. And then she looked over at me and I looked back, realising there were tears in her eyes.
"Why didn't you come?" she asked, voice cracking and eyes welling up. "I wanted you to visit so bad. I– I thought you would."
Not expecting that, I struggled to speak. "I told you, Skye, I thought you wouldn't want me there. I..."
She let go of my hand and wiped her eyes shamefully, looking away. I sat up slightly, leaning on my elbow to look down at her, not wanting her to bottle everything up now.
"I waited," she whispered. "Every day, hoping you'd come to see me."
My heart crumbled at her words, guilt pressing down on my chest. "I'm sorry."
She squeezed her eyes shut. "It's not your fault, I know that. But I just..."
With the nightmare still fresh and her recollection of the past at the forefront of her mind, I knew her emotions were heightened and she was overwhelmed, and it hurt to witness.
I pulled her into my chest for a hug, rubbing her back gently. "I wish I had. I wanted nothing more than to see you then, Skye, truly. But I'm here now. I promise."
She didn't say anything, but she didn't pull away either. Her sniffles were heard in the silence of the room and she kept a firm grip on my tee shirt, and I didn't know what else to do other than continue to rub her back soothingly.
At some point, we must have dosed off like that because when I opened my eyes next, it was morning. I yawned as I rubbed my face, confused to where I was at first. And then I recognised Skye's room and it all came back to me.
I looked beside me, seeing Skye fast asleep, face smushed against her pillow adorably. She looked a lot better than she did last night and I was glad for it, seriously worried about her. Hopefully she'd gotten some sleep after everything.
Trying not to stare too long, reminding myself that it wasn't very platonic of me, I looked away and carefully clambered out of her bed to freshen up. After doing so, I went into her kitchen to find something to eat.
I was eating from a bowl of cereal at her kitchen island when I heard footsteps, looking up to see her leaving her bedroom.
"Good morning," I greeted. "How are you feeling?"
She hummed tiredly, yawning and running a hand through her dishevelled hair. I couldn't help but smile at how cute she looked.
"Better," she finally spoke, brown eyes meeting mine across the counter. "Thanks, Y/N. For coming last night."
I shrugged. "It's okay."
She sighed, shaking her head, and looked down thoughtfully. After a moment, she said, "I know I haven't talked to you much about it all."
My expression softened. "I don't expect you to."
"I know," she said quietly, before meeting my gaze. "I want to. I do. Otherwise the way I am, how I act... it doesn't make sense and I don't want you to feel confused or think I'm insane or–"
"Hey," I cut her off, furrowing my brows. "I don't think that, Skye."
She chewed her lip momentarily, eyes flickering to the counter top. "I want you to know. Eventually. I just– it'll be bit by bit because I can't go through it all at once. It's too much."
I frowned sympathetically. "That's alright. You can tell me as little or as much as you want, whenever you want. Meanwhile, if you just want the support, I can give you that too. It's what friends do."
She smiled a little, nodding. "Right."
I studied her expression, unsure what to make of it. "Did you get any sleep? Last night?"
She nodded, looking up. "I did, yeah. Thanks for coming. I know it was late. And I'm sorry for breaking down on you."
I gave her a knowing look, offering a small smile. "You need to stop apologising."
She exhaled. "Sorry."
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Never mind that. You want breakfast? I can make whatever you want, providing you have it of course."
She smiled as she took a seat. "That would be nice, yeah. Eggs couldn't hurt."
"Eggs it is then," I said, eating the last bite of my cereal before standing up. "Give me five minutes.”
She nodded and watched me, relaxed for even the smallest of moments, enough to put me at ease too.

Any updates on the damnation au ,’)
Actually, yes, there is. Some good news, some bad news. But I'll put this off now, to get it off my shoulders. This is an important damnation update!
Let's start with the good news, shall we? The good news is, Ignihyde is less than ten pages away from completion. I have been able to write a bit for it recently, so steadily that number is going up. It has taken a while to get back into the groove of things, as it's been so long since I've written anything and I had to reread what I had, reflect and brainstorm, all that jazz. However, progress is being made slowly but surely.
Additionally, the follower count is getting closer and closer to 8,000. Like, very close. It's like I'm sitting here, yapping mostly, ranting, and occasionally putting out a post, only for new readers to go "okay, I like this" and follow, despite me not being able to post much. At this exact moment of me writing this, the follower count is 7,821 and usually soon I start reblogging previous damnation results leading up to the moment I will post the new result.
Now, notice I have yet to say anything about Diasomnia. That is because I have yet to begin writing for it, despite the ideas I already have for it.
I want to be real for a moment, and saying that this has generated some anxiety for me, which is never good.
I don't want this fun hobby to become a burden I learn to dread. There's many things I worry about. I won't be able to come anywhere near completion for Diasomnia in time, it'll be rushed and be a horrible ending to an otherwise decent series I'm mostly proud of. At this point to being so close to finishing Ignihyde's damnation story, I worry that it's not good enough. That it's nothing compared to the previous endings. That it won't be well received.
These thoughts about Ignihyde's part are something I often experience before posting something major I've worked on for a while, which I expected. I will go through with Ignihyde, as it should be done well before the milestone is reached. At the pace things are going, I will not be forcing myself to hurry to start and finish Diasomnia.
I do not want to make a mess of things, and create some unsatisfactory ending. That's why, for now, Diasomnia's ending will be delayed. I wish to write a good story, at least to the best of my ability, and I cannot do that in a time crunch while under pressure. I'm sorry if this is disappointing news. I hope I can make up for this in a good Diasomnia damnation ending later on, but not now.
Further updates for damnation, the Ignihyde ending, will be posted soon. Thank you for reading this long announcement.

The 5 of you walked down the path, you tightly held onto Tama still doubting this, but you all didn't have a choice.
"What if nobody's home?" whispered Loa. "Don't be silly, the lights are on" said Solo. You all climbed up the stairs carefully. Solo took a deep breath, knocked on the door and gave them time, no answer. He tried again "hello? Is anyone home? We need help, our car got stuck on the side of the road" he said. "We bring no harm!"
"Yeah sure, that will get them to answer the door quicker" said Tama sarcastically. You playfully slapped his chest, again he starts making his signature noises at you. "Yo! Stop with the gremlin noises, they're gonna think we're crackheads" whispered Jacob, making him stop. "Weirdo" you said, "but I'm your weirdo." Tama smirked. "Get a room" sighed Loa. "We will if we get in" smiled Tama. "Well it better be far away from where I'll sleep. I don't need to hear a recap of the night before" said Loa.
Still nobody answered the door. Jacob went towards the window on the side & peeked in. "Dude, don't be creepy why are you being a peeping Tom?" asked Loa. "I'm trying to see if someone's inside, maybe I can try to communicate with them through here. I don't see anyone, but the place looks sick!" admired Jacob.
"Yeah, that totally helps our situation" said Solo sarcastically. He knocked again. "Y'know what? F-ck it" he mumbled. He pushed the wooden doors attempting to open it & surprisingly the doors opened leaving everyone in shock. "Orrrr we could do that" said Jacob.
Solo slowly stepped inside, everyone following after. "Hello? Is anyone home?" he called out. "They would've opened the door if they were right?" asked Loa. Solo shot him a glare. "Sorry" apologized Loa. "It's okay, I'm just stressed with this whole thing" he said. Loa nodded in understanding.
"Okay, me, Loa & Jacob are going to look around the house & see if it's cool for us to stay here for the night & who sleeps where" said Solo. "And with who" whispered Tama smirking at you, knowing what he was indicating. "We're finally inside right?" you said, confusing Tama. You unzipped his coat from underneath & ran out "I'm free!" Tama groaned.
"Okay, let's not get too excited" said Solo. "We're gonna go check the place. Y/N, Tama, y'all check the ground floor. We'll head upstairs" said Solo. "You're gonna leave those two alone here? You better pray they behave & the owner of the house doesn't walk in on something" cringed Loa, causing Solo to facepalm himself. "Behave & stay on task, this ain't your house or the hotel room, ya nasties" said Solo pointing at you two. Both of you nodded. "I can behave" you said "your right hand man is the one who can't keep it in his pants. He's the real nasty" you smirked, making Tama cock his brow at you & chase after you "now I'll show you nasty!" he yelled.
"I can't believe he's the eldest out of all of us & gets to have fun while we suffer here alone" said Loa. "It's okay, tomorrow we'll all be free from this shit & go back home to our women & families" assured Solo, making the men smile. They all made their way upstairs to check the place you, & Tama stayed downstairs.
You walked around & observed the place, starting off with the kitchen & then making your way towards the living room. "Hmm nice & cozy place" you praised. You went down the hall & looked out the windows observing the nice view of the waterfall. You then went into the main area near the front door. After you & Tama fully checked the ground floor & tried to pry his hands off of you at times, you both found everything okay, and decided to go upstairs & check on the rest.
You were climbing the stairs when a huge portrait on the side of the wall caught your attention. You stopped by to observe it.
Tumblr media
The girl was dressed in all black, had pale skin & had her hair tied back. She was beautiful but, you were wondering why she had this doll beside her who was adorably frightening. The doll looked like she could jump out of the frame at any moment. But this girl, you were wondering who she was. Was she the owner of the house?
Your thoughts were cut off when you felt two strong muscular arms wrap around your waist & a pair of lips on your neck. You knew who it was you tilted your neck to the side giving him more access, but not taking your eyes off the portrait. His kisses moved higher up your neck in search for your sweet spot. You were too invested into the photo.
"Tama?" you said. "Hmm?" his voice vibrated against your neck. "Look at this picture, does something seem odd about it?" you asked. His kisses stopped & he looked up, taking in the picture. "Yeah, call Chucky cause I think we found his bride" he joked. "Tama" you sighed. "What? That's one creepy ass looking doll!" he exclaimed. "I know, but this girl. I wonder why she has this doll next to her & who she is" you said out of curiosity.
"Donna Beneviento?" guessed Tama. You were surprised. "That's her name?" He nodded. "How did you-" he pointed to the bottom of the photo which illustrated their names Donna & Angie Beneviento. The doll's name must be Angie, and she must consider this doll close like a family member, you thought. "While Solo & Jacob were pulling open the gates, I saw the name House Beneviento written on the mailbox" said Tama. "She must be the owner of this house I'm guessing, but where is she? And why would she leave her place open like this?" you wondered. "Probably went on vacation to find Angie her lost husband when we could've brought Chucky straight to her" joked Tama. You rolled your eyes at him "that's not funny, Tama" you said making him pout. You continued to climb up the stairs leaving him there. "Y/NNNN, don't be like that" he whined following after you.
"Hey, y'all find anything interesting?" you said joining the 3 men in a room. "Yeah, there's only one bedroom here" said Solo. "Never thought upstairs would be less work for the 3 of us, maybe we should've sent you up here instead" said Loa. "Yeah, downstairs took almost forever for me & Tama" you said. "There's so much storage though like I see shit packed over there & shit packed downstairs too, are they moving out or renovating?" asked Jacob. You shrugged "I guess we'll have to ask Miss Beneviento that when we meet her" you said. "Beneviento?" asked Solo. "Yeah man, that's her name, Donna Beneviento. While y'all were playing tug of war with the gates, we saw her name written on the mailbox" said Tama. Solo looked surprised same with Loa & Jacob.
"Come on, I'll show you what she looks like" you said leading them towards the stairs. All 3 men looked at the picture & felt uneasy. "Uh uh, I don't like the looks of this" cringed Jacob "that's one creepy ass looking doll! I thought M3gan was bad!" "that's what I thought too!" said Tama. "They look friendly & welcoming" said Loa, sarcastically. "Creepy doll aside, I'd love to talk to this Donna chick, and ask how much mortgage does she pay to afford a house like this near the waterfall" wondered Solo. "Can y'all think of anyone but yourselves for a change?" you asked. "What? We need a place to get away! Especially from my brothers" said Solo "their hungry asses always show up at my place wanting to go to Waffle House, I'm sick and tired as hell of them" he sighed.
"Anyway, there's a double bed downstairs if y'all need a place to sleep. Just move the dolls around" you said. "Yeah, we saw dolls in the upstairs bedroom too. Why's this place packed with dolls? It screams cursed" cringed Loa. "Yeah, I kinda wanna leave now this place is scaring the f-ck out of me" said Jacob. "Will y'all grow up? It's just dolls, they ain't gonna do anything. Geez, we're pro wrestlers who come from a strong family so act like it" said Solo. "Anyway, Y/N, Tama,I guess y'all can take upstairs. Jacob & me will take the downstairs bed" confirmed Solo. "Hello? I'm here too!" Loa whined. "You can take the couch in the front area" said Solo. "Oh nice, another uncomfortable night for me. Just say you hate me & go" snapped Loa. "I don't hate you & it's just for tonight" assured Solo "then you can kiss it goodbye."

You & Tama were upstairs. You came across a journal from Donna, you weren't sure if you wanted to read it, but you definitely wanted to know more about her. As you were reading you felt the bed dip & you see a shirtless Tama smirking & crawling to you. "Haven't you had enough?" you questioned mirroring his smirk.

"Alright, you feeling comfortable Uce?" asked Solo while fluffing his pillow. "Yeah" said Jacob, "this place still gives me the chills though." he says laying down & putting his arms behind his head. "We'll be outta here at dawn" smiled Solo. "Yo Loa! How you holding up there?" he called out to the next room. "Uh, alright!" he answered. "I'll go check on him, goodnight" said Solo "night" nodded Jacob.
Solo walked into the front area & saw Loa trying to adjust himself on the sofa. "You good?" he asked. "Yeah, I'll try to make it through. Did you check your phone signal?" asked Loa. "Damn, I didn't think of that. Thanks for the reminder" said Solo. He whipped out his phone to check, "what the f-ck? My phone's dead! I swear it was fully charged when we left & I didn't use it much!" he said shocked. "Here, use mine" said Loa whipping his phone out. "Mine's dead too, the f-ck?" he yelled. "How's that possible? We finally get shelter & both of our phones die? Anyway, I'll ask Jacob for his charger. I left mine's at the hotel. Sleep well!" said Solo walking away. "I'll try to, I bet the lovebirds are having a slumber party up there so it'll be hard to sleep" sighed Loa. "Just ignore them! Put your head under your pillow!" said Solo.

You both were in a heated make out session, before Tama started to move his head down to suck on your neck making you moan loud. "Shhhh" he whispered against your neck. "How can I?" you whispered, making him smirk evilly as he moved his hand up your dress. You stopped him "I'm going to take a shower" you said, making him look at you in shock. "What?! Didn't you shower at the arena?" he questioned. "How can I? Y'all were starving like bears. Jacob was craving Popeyes & wanted to get there before closing time" you rambled. "But I'm just getting started with you!" whined Tama. "I don't see how that's a perfect reason for me to stay here" you laughed "you're acting like a brat now. I need to set you straight" Tama started to get serious. "Well not right now, I'm gonna freshen up, we were stranded & we walked all the way here too through a swampy forest. Ergo, I need to shower!" you stated squirming away from beneath him & grabbing a towel. "Who the f-ck says ergo nowadays?" scoffed Tama.
You giggled walking down the hallway towards the bathroom, you spotted Loa downstairs trying to sleep. You couldn't help but find it adorable. "Sleeping well Snowloa White?" you teased from above. He looked up at you giving you a dirty look "y'all couldn't be any louder up there? Thank God we're in a deep forest or else the Hotel Manager would've been banging on the door by now" he said clearly agitated. "Your brother is the one who's horny on main" you defended. "But, I hear your voice the most" said Loa. "And your brother is the one who's causing it" you talked back. "Stop!" yelled Loa covering his ears. "What's going on?" called out Solo from the next room. "Nothing! Just Loa being a grump again." you said, Loa groaned. "Anyway, I'm going to have a shower, so you'll get your peace & quiet. Goodnight" you said. "Thank God, goodnight. I'm traveling on my own next time" he said. You rolled your eyes & went into the bathroom.
It looked very nice & cozy, you gotta give Donna props, she kept her place nice. You stepped into the bathroom closing the door behind you, checked around to be safe & turned the shower on. You got undressed & stepped inside. You felt the warm water consume you & you let out a sigh in content feeling the warmth on your skin. Something you definitely needed after almost freezing to death. You heard the bathroom door open breaking you out of your peaceful slumber & heard a rustle of clothes dropping onto the floor. The shower curtain opened & you let out a scream.
"TAMA WHAT THE F-CK?! CAN'T YOU KNOCK?!" you yelled as he stepped into the shower with you. "We've been living together for a year now & never gave a shit about those rules. Now you wanna apply them?" he asked raising a brow at you. "Why are you here?!" you asked. "Showering in an unknown place by yourself? Aren't you scared, woman? Plus, I walked all the way here & need one too. I know Miss Beneviento wouldn't want her water bill to go up, so let's save it" he whispered walking towards you. "No!" you said lightly pushing him away from you "Just because I want a peaceful shower doesn't mean I want a pleasurable one too" you scoffed. "I was gonna help you shower, and soap up your back. You don't have your brush here & I know how much you hate not getting your back, so I thought I'd help you out." offered Tama. You sighed "fine, but no funny business. I'll get yours too" you said making him grin.
⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾
After you both washed up, you couldn't help but get lost into Tama after he helped you. Your hands lightly trailed up his abs feeling his skin, making him heavily breathe. You looked at him & got lost into his eyes as he got lost in yours. You thought you should just reward him at this point, and smashed your lips onto his, he immediately kissed back and pinned you against the wall pressing his wet body against yours.
You sighed in content feeling him. He lifted your legs up wrapping them around his waist as your arms wrapped around his neck, running your fingers through his curls, the kiss got deeper. He licked at your bottom lip & you let him in locking your tongue with his. "Mmm... see? I knew you'd give in. You're No Angel" he mumbled against your lips. "Shut up" you giggled into the kiss. Seconds later, he moved his lips down to your neck kissing & licking the skin there, you moved your head to the side giving him more access & feeling the hairs on his beard prickling your skin. He found your sweet spot making you moan, you felt him smile against your skin. He sucked and bit on that spot, giving you a hickey "Tamaaa" you moaned loudly. He pulled away grinning at his work & giving the bruise one last flick of his tongue. "I know, baby" he breathed. He then started going lower with his kisses. You bit your lip knowing what was coming.

You both quietly exited the bathroom with your towels on. "Funny, how you said you wanted to save her water bill by getting us to shower together, but I think it only skyrocketed. She's gonna be hella pissed!" you whispered in worry. "Relax, I'm a rich man & I'll pay her bill as a thank you for letting us stay here" chuckled Tama. "Yeah, without her knowledge!" you whispered tip toeing.
"Your poor brother is definitely pissed off at us for ruining his sleep again!" you said. "Well it's safe to say, I didn't instigate it this time" teased Tama. You lightly slapped his chest, looking over the railing to check down on Loa, only to notice that he wasn't on the couch anymore. "Hey, where's your brother?" you asked Tama. He looked over your shoulder to see that his brother wasn't there. "Probably went to the downstairs bathroom or moved to another spot to sleep, you know he can't stand us ma chérie" he said shaking his head. "Come on, let's go to bed" he said pulling you away.
⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾⭒.˚⋆.˚ ☾
Tama was asleep, next to you arm wrapped around your waist. For some reason, you couldn't sleep. You were hooked onto Donna's journal gaining more knowledge on her, she's a doll-maker which explains the dolls in her home. You learned about her struggles growing up, mentally & physically, her parents, tragedies she faced, Mother Miranda, her family, how she found Angie & her becoming a part of her life, and the dolls she made. You never realized how important Angie is to Donna, she was given to her by her father & she communicated through Angie. You felt bad for judging her earlier. Some parts really struck you, emotionally & because you are an empath too you felt for Donna.
You were deep into reading when all of a sudden you heard a loud crash coming from downstairs, making you jump. You quickly sat up and placed the book on the nightstand next to you. Tama woke up and quickly sat up beside you "what was that?" he asked. You shrugged. You both quickly rushed out of bed heading towards the stairs when you saw the lights were already on & Jacob & Solo were standing there.
"What happened?" you asked meeting them at the middle of the stairs. "Looks like the wind came in & knocked this portrait down" said Solo picking up the framed portrait of Donna & Angie up. You started to get chills. "But how?" asked Tama. "How did the wind even get in? This place is air tight shut." "Does it look like I live here to know?" sassed Solo. "Damn, you really are like your brothers" said Tama. Solo & Jacob both tried hanging the frame back up, meanwhile you noticed a missing member from the group.
"Hey guys, where's Loa?" you asked. The four of you looked at the couch where he was last seen. "I thought he went to the bathroom or moved towards you guys" assumed Tama. "He never came to us nor I heard anything aside from this frame falling" said Jacob. Jacob went to the living room where they slept to look for him. "Tonga?" he called out. "Loa!" you called out looking into the kitchen. Solo searched all around the front area where he slept "Tonga??? You here?" he called out. Tama looked down the hallway on the side "Toko???" he yelled out.
"Jacob?" you said. "What's up?" he responded, looking at you. "Remember how this place was packed with shitloads of dolls?" he nodded his head. "I don't see them anymore" you said shaking. He scrunched his eyebrows up & looked at the spots where he last remembered seeing them at, noticing "what the f-ck?" he said confused. "I swear, I saw two of those little brats here. There's no way in hell they could walk right?" he asked. You shook your head. "What in the Child's Play?!" he said shaking his head.
Solo & Tama joined you both in the living room. "Any luck?" you said, they both shook their heads. Tama started to get worried about his brother's absence. You went over to comfort him. Jacob whipped out his phone, still no signal but tried calling him hoping it reaches him. It didn't go through. "So you know how there were dolls packed everywhere? They're gone now" you informed Solo & Tama, making them raise their brows at you. Solo chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief, "what?" "I'm serious Solo, look they're gone!" you pointed to the spot they were previously at . Solo laughed "sure! They went all Baby Alive & started developing magic powers walking away" he chuckled.
"You think my girl's a joke to you?!" defended Tama stepping towards him, clearly upset himself. You held him back "it's not worth it" you whispered in his ear. "I'm not saying she's a joke" said Solo, "I just think it's surreal that a doll would start-" he was cut off by a familiar scream. The four of you turned around & looked towards the direction it was coming from. It was coming from down the hall where Tama previously was. "That's him!" exclaimed Tama recognizing his brother's voice. The 4 of you ran to the direction it was coming from.
To be continued...🩸
A/N: It kinda stung writing Loa being the first to go missing 🤧 But, you'll find out why.
Reference to Donna's story & if you wanna learn more about her.

I voted to marry the boy, could you write him being incredibly smitten with one Emmy Altava? (I would take any Clemmy really, but Clive MUST be head over heels for her)
SORRY FOR THE DELAY !! My sincerest apologies, this week has been kicking my ass-
This was hard to write, because I'm bad at shipping and also I don't know the first thing about Emmy ? She works with Layton and is gorgeous, that's it :'D I did ask some friends who told me about a camera ?? So I tried to like. Work from there
ANYWAY !! AU where Emmy works at Clive's newspaper as a part-job on top of her adventures with Layton ! She is a photographer and 20-year-old Clive is a writer. Also this is Unwound Future Canon-compliant (kinda ? It works from Clive's perspective). This is teen, comfort no hurt, fluff, and entirely written from clive's POV
Emmy fans I apologize in advance if I didn't do your girl justice, she is gorgeous and I want to get to know her
Clive remembered that fateful day- not the day it had all started, of course, but the day his whole plan had been thrown off the rails.
It was a day just like the others- or rather, it would have been, had his article not been rejected. He had been working at the newspaper for two years now, ever since he'd graduated at age 18 : two years, and not once had one of his articles been refused. All of his work had always been met with approval at worst, congratulations at best- nothing less.
But not this time. The direction hadn't said much about this outrageous event, simply something about his article needing more work, apparently. This usually wouldn't bother Clive : failure was a part of life, and he forgave those poor souls for failing to perceive the greatness of his work.
And yet- this was a problem. Clive had asked to be granted access to informations about the Incident ever since he started working here, and his request had been denied every time. He had to prove his reliability first, they said, show them that he hadn't taken the job just to get his hands on classified files. It was annoying, truly : of course he had, but proving otherwise was tiresome.
But now, with this failure... Was his progress going to fade away ? Could he still hope to get these documents soon ? Or was this the faux pas that would cost him his prize entirely ?
Clive sighed, putting that traitorous piece of paper back on his desk : he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes for a moment.
What should he do now ?
"Well, that's a sad face if I've ever seen one," a voice commented in an extremely helpful way. He didn't recognize it, mostly because he couldn't be bothered to learn his colleagues' voices or names- mostly because they kept coming to annoy him at the worst possible time. Which was all the time.
"Could you please leave me alone for once or is it really too much to ask ?" Clive knew that he didn't sound very pleasant or respectful, but that was literally the last of his problems. Besides, he had isolated his desk from the rest specifically because he didn't want others to come bother him.
"Pretty sure this is the first time we meet. At least, I don't remember seeing you before. Are you new too ?" She replied, and she really wasn't leaving, was she ? Then again, if she was new here, she probably didn't know that he wasn't here to make friends.
He opened his eyes.
The first thing to catch his gaze was the odd yellow dress, a strange outfit to wear in a place like this : she looked like an adventurer, not a journalist. There wasn't any dress code to meet in order to work here, but still...
Then again, she did have a bow tie.
"I've been here for two years," he deadpanned. She seemed nice and that was good for her, really, but he wasn't in the mood for chit-chat. "Welcome to the team, I suppose."
She smiled. It wasn't bright like a sun or sweet like chocolate, but it was rather something authentic, that she had worked hard to obtain and preserve. This was the kind of smile that would inspire tons of stories and articles- at least to someone really passionate about this job.
Clive wasn't. He wasn't here to change the world or make friends, he was here to get these classified files that would hopefully help him move on.
"Thank you," she said, before putting one hand on his desk and leaning forward : Clive pushed his chair back a little. "Say, since we're a team now, do you mind telling me why I've never seen you hang out with the others ?"
Oh wow. Alright, no little mind games- just straight to the point.
That really was new.
"Well," Clive muttered, looking away, "I have work to do."
She tilted her head slightly, his answer only making her more curious. "And they don't ?"
Was this some kind of test ? Clive couldn't perceive any ill intentions behind this question, but it didn't sound all that mundane either. What was she at ?
"Of course they do," he explained himself, "But this is important to me, and-" Actually- why was he even telling her that ? She probably didn't care, he didn't care, this whole discussion was useless : he had no reason to keep it going. "And my article just got refused, so I have even more work to do." He said abruptly, hoping to end the conversation.
She didn't go away. "Oh really ? That sucks. Want me to take a look ?" She offered, as if she wasn't new here.
"Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm not sure you can help much," Clive said coldly. He wasn't in the mood for this. "I mean, you're new, and a photographer, so this may not be your-"
"Nonsense !" She put her hands on her hips, the same smile on her face. She had listened to approximately none of his reasoning. Stubborn, Clive thought. Stubborn and very confident.
"I may not write the articles, but I know how they work," she said. "Also, I have learned a thing or two from Layton."
Clive froze. Layton. The professor Layton ? The one who had saved him as a kid, the man who was his model, his inspiration, his-
"Hey, this article is about him !" Quick as a fox, she had leaned over his desk and grabbed the piece of paper : her eyes were done scanning through the first few paragraphs before Clive could even react.
"Wh- where are your manners ?!" He yelled at her, blushing furiously. Alright, that was it-
Pushing his chair back, he quickly made his way around his desk, reaching for his sorry excuse of an article.
She dodged his poor attempt at taking back his sheet of paper with no effort whatsoever. "This is pretty good," she said, talking about the paper rather than his embarrassing fight.
Clive was a clever man- that's why he decided after yet another vain attempt that he couldn't win. Somewhere in his mind, he noted that she had to truly be an adventurer of some kind : she was surprisingly strong, agile and terribly efficient, unbothered by someone like him.
He reluctantly gave up his useless fight, taking a few steps back and crossing his arms instead. "Not good enough, apparently," he spat, glaring at her. She had no shame, no hesitation, no weakness- who even was she ?!
"Yeah, I can see why," she nodded, and Clive was once again baffled by her ability to say honest things without any hard feelings behind it.
"Your article is good, but you forgot the presentation," she explained, stepping closer to better show him : this proximity made Clive agitated, although he wasn't sure why. "You talk like everyone knows Layton, but that's just not true- especially since you're dealing with his first ever adventure. You have to keep everyone in mind, not just the readers who are as knowledgeable about this subject as you are."
Clive choked. "I-I'm not-"
"Hey, I could give you a good photo of Layton !" She interrupted him with a smile. "That way, everyone would know who we're talking about."
"Yeah, about that- do you actually know the professor ?" He narrowed his eyes at her, looking her up and down. She didn't seem like the kind of person the professor would frequent, bow tie or no bow tie.
"Of course !" She said, before her voice took a challenging intonation, "What, wanna bet ?"
Clive scoffed. She was being ridiculous- this was probably all an elaborate plan to make fun of him. He could absolutely picture his colleagues telling her to prank him as some sort of initiation ritual, actually. She certainly was almost as annoying as they all were.
But she may know the professor. "Sure," he finally said. "If you can take this photo and bring it to me, I'll buy you a coffee tomorrow."
"Wow, hey, don't ruin yourself for me Tiger," she sarcastically said. Tiger ??
"Wha-"
"Alright, I'll come tomorrow by your sad and isolated desk to give you the picture," she decided. "I love proving I'm right, almost as much as I love drinking terrible coffees with rude co-workers."
"Are you serious-"
"See you!" She cut him off with a provocative grin, again, and left without listening to another word he had to say, again.
Clive watched her go in silence, furious. Who did she think she was ?! She had been here for what, a couple hours, and she just came up to him like that ? He hoped she had annoyed everyone else too : that way, she'd get fired sooner rather than later.
The thought did make him feel better, and he sat back in his chair, enjoying the calm of the small room where stood his isolated desk. If he focused hard enough, he could hear her laugh with others in the next room- but he couldn't, because he didn't care enough to pay attention.
So since he wasn't listening to the sound of her voice, it was silent. And enjoyable. And lonely- which was good, because he hated having to deal with others. Especially her -what was her name again ? Not that it mattered-, because she was so rude and straight-forward and confident. Really confident.
Nevermind.
He picked up the article, looking at it thoughtfully. He needed this article to be accepted, and he needed it to be his best work yet : it was the only way to prove he was worthy of the reputation he had built for himself, and, most importantly- the only way to get what he wanted, the Truth.
...Presentation, uh ?
-_-_-_-
Surely enough, the very next day, Emmy came back to his desk with a brand new picture.
Professor Layton, sitting at a table, enjoying a nice cup of tea. He was smiling serenely, and his face held a bit of warmth, of comfort, of home.
"There you go !" Emmy said with a very satisfied smile, one that Clive wasn't ready to see this early in the morning.
He took the photo she was handing him. It felt recent and authentic : in fact, he could see yesterday's newspaper on the table, next to Layton's hand. It was crazy. There was no way they actually knew each other.
"Are you a paparazzi ?" He asked before he could stop himself. He shouldn't throw accusations her way in case she really was close to the professor, but what else could it be ?
"What ? No !" Emmy didn't seem to get offended- on the contrary, she stood proudly, hands on her hips. "I'm his associate !"
Oh.
Clive fell silent, his gaze wandering back to the picture. The professor was facing whoever had taken the photography : he was fully aware someone was here, taking this very picture. Had she asked him to smile ? Or was he just that happy to help his associate win a stupid bet and make a name for herself at her new job ?
Why would someone like the professor choose her as an associate ?
"That's odd," Emmy said with feigned naivety. "I recall you being a real Layton fan, and yet you didn't recognize the one and only Emmy Altava, associate of the great professor Layton ? Surely someone as knowledgeable as you should know this. I mean, it'd be pretty humiliating if you didn't, right ?"
He looked up, staring at her, and she stared him down with a provocative smirk, waiting for his answer.
Somehow, he... he wasn't mad. He didn't feel like angrily answering or starting a fight, which was relatively rare : maybe this was due to the fact that he knew she could easily destroy him.
Or maybe this was due to the fact that he really wanted to know what Layton had seen in her, now. "I'm not a Layton fan, and I didn't know he had an associate."
Emmy's smirk disappeared quickly at his admission, replaced with something that was almost disappointment. She hummed, looking at him strangely. "...This is really not as satisfying as you had me believe it would be. I was looking forward to crushing your little ego under my boot."
Alright- forget that. Clive scoffed. "Don't forget I have to buy you a disgusting coffee now, so we're stuck together for a few more painful minutes."
"Ah- I had indeed forgotten about that part," She admitted, scratching the top of her head. All of the antagonizing and taunting was gone, just like that, Clive noticed : how did she move on so quickly ? He never ever missed an opportunity to rightfully put people in their places. But she was already over it ??
Emmy -she did say her name was Emmy, right ? Emmy Altava- shrugged, coming to a decision. "Disgusting coffee is better than no coffee. Lead the way, Tiger."
He groaned. "Stop calling me that."
"Wait," she paused, and he stared at her while waiting for whatever nonsense she was about to spit. "...What is your name ?"
...You know what- that was fair. He hadn't told her, after all. "I'm Clive Dove."
She snapped her fingers, that same confident grin on her lips. "Great. Lead the way, Clivey."
Clive groaned before leaving the room without a word. Emmy followed him with a satisfied grin, very proud and amused by his pointless anger.
Clive walked faster, trying to hide the blush that crept on his face.
-_-_-_-
They didn't interact much after the coffee : in fact, they didn't talk at all for the next few days.
Clive would see her sometimes, or hear her. He heard her a lot : she had a booming voice, full of life and passion. Whenever she talked to another one of their colleagues, Clive would hear her contagious laugh, listen to her stories from the loneliness of his small isolated desk.
She was a great storyteller. Managing her effects, adding plenty of details, adapting to her audience- it felt real. Clive could picture her stories, her adventures at the professor's side.
This was exactly what gave him a new idea, bright like always.
He came across her in the corridor, while she was heading to get herself a coffee. "Oh- Clivey ! It's been some time, hasn't it ?"
He gritted his teeth. This was a bright idea. He only had bright ideas. "Ignoring that first part. I wanted to tell you something."
She didn't seem all that excited, merely eyeing him up and down like they were in a box ring. "What- you want me to prove you wrong again ? Cuz I can do that-"
"No, no," he groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. Why was she always so impulsive ? "I wanted to tell you that I submitted my article again, and the direction as well as the audience were really enthusiastic this time."
She seemed to relax, smiling instead. "That's great ! I'm happy for you."
"Also I added your name to it."
She... stopped smiling. In fact, she remained uncharacteristically silent, staring at him as if she was trying to see beyond his calm expression.
It was unsettling- deeply, extremely unsettling. It felt as though she could look at him and see everything he was hiding : his dead parents, his need for answers, his plan to get these files, his... his dead parents. There was nothing else he was hiding.
And yet, he felt his face go red under her scrutinizing gaze. Stupid, embarrassing shame.
"You helped me with the photography and the structure of the article, so it's only fair," he explained in a small voice, crossing his arms. He was not going to look at her. He was not going to meet her gaze and help her find whatever she was looking for. "And that's also why I'm here. I would like to offer you to- to work on a series of articles about the professor."
Clive still refused to watch her reaction, and it took another couple of seconds for Emmy to react : but when she did, she put her hands on her hips, leaning forward with a wide grin. Clive hated when she did that, it made him feel so small compared to her. She was also closer to him, which made him feel really... uncomfortable. And hot. "You want me to work on these ? With you, I suppose ?"
"Obviously," he scoffed, shrugging nonchalantly- or so he tried.
"...Why ?" She sounded concerned- curious too. There was something in her that wasn't sure about this project, and yet there was an even bigger part of her who wanted to get more out of this, to explore all the possibilities.
Clive couldn't care less about possibilities, or colleagues, or success : there was only one success that mattered to him, and it was getting these classified informations.
Which was exactly why he wanted to work with Emmy. Her proximity with Layton and, he'll admit it, her set of skills were perfect to help him reach his own goal. "Because you know a lot about the professor, and your stories are good material. Also, you could provide with pictures and- and presentation advices, I suppose. Probably," he muttered. She was still so close- should he step back ?
No, she would probably get offended. Oh well- he just had to keep standing inches from her, then.
She seemed amused. "I thought you weren't a Layton fan. Why are you asking me to tell you about him ?"
"He's a good inspiration for articles," he said, trying to sound professional- and why was he even trying ? This was professional. It was a professional setting. "Only an idiot would let this opportunity go."
"And you're not an idiot." She thought about it for a minute, before she shrugged : "Why not ! I'm here to create articles, after all. But first I need my coffee." She stretched her back before taking a few steps away, heading for her long-awaited beverage.
Clive felt... almost disappointed to see her leaving, but the unusual joy overcame it easily. She had accepted to work with him, they were gonna be a team- which meant that he was getting closer to achieving his goal. "Wait- want me to buy you a coffee ?"
She chuckled. "Don't ruin yourself for me, Clivey."
He didn't make any comment on the name.
-_-_-_-
Getting to work with Emmy was just delightful. She was as efficient as he was, both straight-forward in their criticism, always looking for ways to improve, listening to the other's suggestions before making up their minds. They made an exceptional team with perfect cohesion and excellent results.
Of course, the direction had noticed it too. Their articles were a hit among the newspaper's audience, even bringing in new customers : everyone was curious about this duo who wrote entertaining articles about some professor. It almost felt like fiction, and people liked to read these improbable stories that stood out from the rest of the usual news coverage.
The audience wanted more, the direction wanted more, and so Emmy and Clive logically decided to make more articles : day after day, week after week, they kept creating more and more stories, to the point that they would spend most of the day together- even the sacred coffee break.
"And that's how we found out that Descole really was behind all of this," Emmy finished her story, taking her cup of coffee in one hand. "I mean, I had my suspicions- but without the professor, I never would have guessed what was truly going on."
Clive nodded, absent-mindedly scribbling a few notes. His own cup had been left completely untouched, his coffee cold by now.
This detail didn't go unnoticed. "Cold coffee won't taste better, you know," Emmy joked.
Clive stopped writing, looking at his cup in silence.
Emmy frowned. "Hey, are you okay ?"
Clive looked at her, then at his notes. They were precise and neatly written at first, like always, before suddenly going... messy. Which was weird, because Clive hated messy.
"I just thought about something," he explained.
"Oh ?" She leaned forward on the table : her curious eyes were scanning Clive's face, waiting for any piece of information. Her coffee was left forgotten- it was disgusting anyway.
Clive brought his own cup to his lips, a poor attempt at hiding the blush on his face- because he was blushing, he knew that.
After all, this was exactly the something he had been thinking about.
It had taken him weeks to realize it. But surely enough, at some point, he had stopped listening to the stories and started listening solely to the voice telling them. He had stopped seeing work as a means to an end and started to look forward to seeing her in the morning, to sharing a coffee with her day after day.
He had even stopped caring about these stupid classified files. He would never stop being curious about the truth, wanting deep down to know what truly went down- but he could also portray his life in a world where he wouldn't get to know. Maybe he could never know, and still be okay, as long as he had another source of motivation.
Emmy. His work with her- scratch that. Just Emmy. He knew it was her and not these pointless articles : even the professor, his childhood hero, seemed to pale in comparison to her, recently.
He had wondered why the professor had made her his associate : now he knew, maybe even more than Layton himself.
"I was just- just thinking," he said, before taking a sip of coffee. It was cold, and bitter, and frankly disgusting : this newspaper should be able to afford better coffees, especially with all the records in sells recently. But this disgusting coffee allowed him to share a moment with Emmy, so maybe it was a bit okay. "About stuff."
"Very specific," Emmy mocked him, "Come on, spit it out !"
Oh, there was no way he was telling her. Admitting it -partly- to himself was already a big enough challenge. "I was- well, I was wondering if the professor was okay with us writing about his life."
Emmy rose an eyebrow, settling back in her chair. It really was just a game of getting closer and away, wasn't it ? "The professor doesn't mind. He is flattered someone is that invested in his adventures. He said he'd like to meet you, one day," Emmy simply answered, looking at him funny. There it was, that scrutinizing gaze that was looking for secrets, trying to uncover everything he wasn't saying- "But really, Clivey, we've been doing that for weeks. You only wonder about that now ?"
"I guess I didn't want this to stop, in case he was bothered," he simply said.
If Emmy noticed the way he passed up the opportunity to meet Layton himself, she didn't say a thing. "Ah, right. You're not an idiot, and you're not passing up any opportunities."
"Exactly," Clive said. He wasn't blushing anymore, so he put his coffee down- it was really too disgusting, anyway.
Emmy nodded. "We have enough for our next article. We should get back to work- you know, so you keep getting opportunities." She said this with a touch of humor, and Clive chuckled at it. It wasn't even that funny, but she had a way of making him happy that only worked with her : another colleague would have him rolling his eyes and spitting a distateful comment.
"Alright- I just need to go back to my desk first," he said, standing up and gathering his stuff.
In a fraction of second, Emmy was next to him. "Go get it, Tiger," she gently punched him in the shoulder. Uh, it'd been some time since she used that one.
"And Clive ?" She added. "I'm glad we took this opportunity. Together." And with that, she winked at him.
Clive stared dumbly at her, her words taking a minute to register : when they did however, he felt his whole face heating up in a way he couldn't possibly hide.
"I- uh- I mean-" He stuttered like an idiot, unable to form any thought. What did she mean by that ? Was this a friendly remark ? Or did she- did she also-
Was she also in love with him ? Because he was in love, madly. And maybe he hoped she was too.
He didn't know what miracle happened, but she left without any comments and he remained alone, his stuff in his hands and his heartbeat racing. He must look pathetic, being so red in the face and trembling because of a single remark. He was weak, weak for her, and what was left to be done ?
Luckily -a second miracle-, he didn't see any colleagues as he rushed back to his desk : if any of them had seen him like this, a trembling blushing mess, he probably would have no choice but to kill them.
Putting his stuff on one side of the desk, he himself dropped onto his chair, palms pressed against his face. Even now, even with his eyes closed, he could still see her beautiful smile, the way she winked at him-
No. No no no- he had to stop imagining stuff. There was no way she saw him as more than a colleague -a friend, maybe, emphasis on the maybe- and he would ruin everything if he couldn't respect her feelings on the matter. He didn't- he didn't actually need to- to date her- dating her, he was thinking about dating her and it sounded so wonderful, everything he could ask for, and-
No ! No, alright ? She wasn't interested, and he respected that. And he didn't need to date her, just getting to talk to her, to see her being so vibrant and passionate and confident, a real force of nature- just that was enough. He didn't need more.
He was happy with just getting to see her.
He dropped his hands, taking a deep breath. His heartbeat was still a bit fast, but it was returning to normal : even the red on his face was gone. It was alright. He would be alright, as long as he could keep things as they were.
And if he wasn't entirely satisfied with the way things were, if he kept longing for more, then it was his problem.
He opened his eyes, only to notice a white envelope on the middle of his desk. It... hadn't been there before. Who had put this here ?
Curious if not wary, he got closer and took the sheet of paper, turning it around in his hand.
On the front, he could read "Access to classified files granted"

25, Ronon/Keller!
Spotify Song- Anything Like Me by Brad Paisley
--
Ronon was sitting in the cafeteria with his team when Jennifer approached them, a big grin on her face.
"Someone looks happy," John commented as Jennifer leaned down to kiss Ronon's cheek.
"You wanna tell them?" Jennifer asked, and Ronon's face lit up.
"Seriously? Are you sure? We don't have to yet if-"
"Tell us what?" Rodney asked.
"Tell them," Jennifer said softly, and Ronon jumped up.
"I'M GONNA BE A DAD!" Ronon shouted, grabbing Jennifer, and kissing her deeply in front of the entire mess hall, and suddenly the room erupted in cheers and applause.
"This is wonderful news, congratulations! How far along are you?" Teyla asked, beaming at them as everyone at the table shuffled around to give them both a hug.
"A little over two months, but we've only know for a few weeks. I was going to wait until at least three months before we told anyone, but he was just so excited and I couldn't ask him to keep it in anymore," Jennifer responded, staring lovingly at Ronon as she did. He beamed at her and kissed her again.
"That's really great guys, congrats. I'm happy for you both," John said. They all looked at Rodney, who seemed to be staring off into space. John nudged him, and Rodney startled.
"McKay? You good?" John asked, and Rodney smiled.
"I was just thinking about what a baby version of you two would look like. That's gonna be one damn cute kid, guys. Seriously, congratulations, both of you," Rodney said, in an uncharacteristically sweet way.
"Thanks, Rodney, that was really nice of you," Jennifer said, smiling at him.
"Yes, well, Jeannie made sure I knew how to respond correctly to a pregnancy announcement after her second one when I told her 'the second baby is usually harder'," Rodney responded, and everyone laughed.

3.40 i woke up bc i was cold and needed to pee and now i can't fall back asleep i keep thinking of the people i accidentally ghosted. is it ghosted if there was no intent to ghost? i feel so bad and it's not even like i don't think about them i often do think "i should really reply to them... once this is over ill properly sit down and write them... " and then i don't bc something else happens and im dealing with that and the longer i leave it unanswered the more difficult it becomes because i feel so guilty and therefore want to do things properly not half assed but bc i feel so guilty a part of me also tends to avoid it even more. if i do this to you just know i'm really sorry and ill get back to you i swear
#i have this friend i didn't reply to him for 6 months and then i did with lots of apologies he replied no worries haha AND I WENT AND DIDN'T#REPLY TO THAT FOR ANOTHER 6 MONTHS and the thing is when i had texted him in january i was falling ill and then i was ill for more than a#week so i wasn't really in a condition to reply. and since bc of the illness i had missed some crucial classes and was in the middle of#exam session and i was really struggling so then too i delayed texting him. and then the second semester started and it was such a shitshow#and then i fell ill again and i thought to write him hey i was first ill then send i didn't reply to you and im ill now and im replying to#you 🫠. but then i didn't again#anyways last week i finally texted him like ''hey. how are you ? im really bad at keeping in touch im sorry. can i offer you lunch or dinne#one of these days to apologize and so that we can catch up a little?'' and he hasn't replied yet which is like obviously fine. id get it if#he didn't reply for 6 months or a year i'd pretty much deserves it id say. i'm just worried that he'll never reply bc i have fucked it up#entirely. the truth is all my lifd ive been used to seeing many people i care deeply about like once or twice a year without barely any#contact in between and when we're together again it's like time hasn't passed at all. we just pick up from where we left#the same goes with long distance friendships. to me#anyone ANYONE can tell you how little i reply. :(. still. i know it's not good. @ friend i hope you'll find it in you to forgive me and let#me treat you to lunch#god. side note there is something in this house that is triggering my allergy so bad whether its dust or cat blanket im having the worst#time#good night ill try to sleep again now#it took me one hour to write this post yes

“So uh, question...”
Picking at a stray scab, Kanji opts to look anyplace else. Why, despite being instilled into every which person from birth, was asking for — anything such a hassle? Suppose it was the delicacy, how fast the subject could break when given to another person. All of this? Had to be found out on his own, through hearsay and fleeting newspaper passages. Online got him nowhere, purposefully: Kanji preferred the words, the face-to-face interaction. However, when faced with sincerity, perhaps anonymity was - truly - the right route.
This was stupid.

Garry knows that he looks like a mess. Honestly, what he looks like should be the least of his concerns, but for some reason... it's sticking in his mind right now and he can't quite let it go. Maybe he desperately needs something to focus on that isn't his mental state - but in the end, doesn't it all come back to that, anyway?
He hasn't been sleeping, of course. The few friends he has have finally started showing some concern over him, saying he's acting strangely and asking if he's okay - which is appreciated, but it's not like they could ever actually help. The only one who understands is Ib, and she's... hard to see, right now. He understands that, and he wants her to live her own life too, but he worries, you know?
Well, maybe it's just as much a selfish desire on his end, too... to remind himself that he's not going crazy. And that something good came out of that hellish nightmare, too.
He tries to shake the thoughts aside. He can't go spending every moment of his life dwelling on his traumas, surely? But... maybe he'll see if he can buy Ib a present or something. It'd be nice to see if he can make her smile.
As he starts to browse through the store, though, Garry notices that someone's watching him. Trying to ignore the way his stomach lurches, and the uneasy paranoia in his gut, he finds himself regretting once more how awful he must look right now - goodness, he hopes he hasn't attracted the concern of a stranger now, too...

thinking about the time I was 5 and a teacher explained what Heaven was to me for the first time (all the best people are there, recess is forever, and I could eat as much chocolate as I wanted) and I'm like ma'am sign me the FUCK up (roughly speaking) and then she had me pray to Jesus to ask to become Xtian
And I was SO absolutely excited, because I thought I'd get immediately beamed up into Heaven, Star Trek style. Everyone else in my class may have been excited about recess coming up, but they were SUCKERS because I was about to get FOREVER recess, and INFINITE chocolate
And I'm like man what's wrong with people that everyone doesn't do this. And my teacher was like you are so smart and that's so true and I'm like yeah I AM so smart and that IS so true
cut to around an hour later, and I'm now angry, confused, and hurt, that Jesus was taking so long to beam me up to Heaven and I was expected to go to REGULAR, FINITE, TEMPORARY recess. A little delay, I could understand. The man was probably very busy. But once it got to a whole hour, that was just unreasonable.
So I go and ask the teacher what went wrong, and why Jesus was dragging his feet on this whole taking me to Heaven thing, and she was like oh. I'm sorry. You only go to Heaven when you're dead.
And I asked her something along the lines of, so the only people who know about Heaven are dead people. and we can't talk to dead people
And she uncomfortably said, Yes.
And I just scowled at her and walked away.
She never tried to talk to me about Jesus or Heaven ever again, but I hope the next time she wanted to convert a five year old, she thought about me scowling up at her in my thick rimmed glasses asking what exactly the holdup was for the Good Lord to just fucking kill me already lmao

Cozy Cabin Collection - Nursery
Hey everyone!
Sorry for the delay I was working a lot on this to be the way I wanted it to be but here it is! The next part of the Cozy Cabin Colletion is the nursery.
This time I wanted to bring a cozy, bear themed nursery with neutral colors and elements that represent nature.
This set has started a little difficult and I had to change some things because I wanted to include windows too but I realized there are so many things I want to make that the windows have to be left out this time. So I basically wasted a 3-4 days. Technically those days aren't wasted because I'll include the windows hopefully in the next set but I had less time for the items in this set.
I had a rough time with the curtains because at first these looked more thrown on the crib but I discovered that the arch is exactly the same as some in-game arched windows and I wanted them to be useable more ways so I redid them to be more curtainy. This inspired me to do arched windows so maybe I'll do them next, I'm not sure yet.
So about the items. I made these arches with the wooden frames to go together as you can see. All of them come in all 3 wall heights. The best to place them with half tile placement turned on with the F5 key.
I added 3 different furniture to slot into the wooden frames. You can mix and match these however you like or use them separately. With the half tile placement you can put them next to each other perfectly. 2 of them are shelves and one is a dresser with dresser functionality.
I mentioned the curtains the fit perfectly under the arch so you can use them like a canopy above the crib.
The changing table is base game and functional.
(The armchair and deco cushion is from the previous Entryway set.)
I think that's it, please let me know how you like it and if you have any errors, problems let me know as well! Hope you have a nice day/night and enjoy this set as much as I loved to create it. Despite some things being difficult I really enjoyed doing these items and this is my favourite collection I've done so far.
The Set Includes
Crib
Changing Table
Wooden Arch (3 heights)
Wooden Frame (3 heights, Left and Right variation)
Dresser
Shelves (2 variations, with tree design, without tree design)
Sheer Curtains
Bear Lights (3 heights)
Baby Blankets
Stack of Books
Children's Books
Lying Bear Plushie
Sitting Bear Plushie
Wooden Bears Family Deco
Round Rug

Omg bro yk whats been on my mind for do long?? A demon king trying to court a hero reader. Like the hero has already fought and defeated the king but somehow he comes back and he's desperately trying to get the hero to join him (in more ways than one). He wants the reader to be his spouse and leader of his army against the corrupt human race and the reader (now fallen from stardom due to the evil kings defeat) just wants him gone and to be left alone. Idk if this makes sense but I need to see SOMEONE write abt it before I lose my last marble.
-Doll
This is giving me Dragon Quest vibes, haha. Not a trope I'm too familiar with, but it sounds interesting nonetheless. I shall do my best! Sorry for the delay, I hope it's close to what you imagined. :)
Yandere! Demon King x Hero! Reader
As it goes with villains, they always find a way to return. This time, the Demon King has a different plan in mind. You were prepared for anything, from evil schemes to ancient conjured weapons...except for a wedding ring cordially placed before you. Do you say yes?
Content: gender neutral reader, monster romance, 🔥proposal (literally)
[Part 2]
Tumblr media
You still remember everything so fondly. How you crawled out of that enormous crater, body battered and weak, as everyone watched in horror and held their breaths. Finally, you raised your fist victoriously. The Demon King had been, at last, defeated. The people cheered and cried and pulled you up under thundering waves of applause. Peace was no longer just a dream.
A sweet, innocent memory, even more so given its fleeting nature. The genuine smiles of gratitude quickly turned into crooked grins asking for favors. Before you knew it, you became some sort of political accessory to convince the masses. Posing for photos, shaking hands, being interviewed with bizarrely planned questions reeking of propaganda. You suddenly felt burdened, heavy, disappointed. This was not the kind of fame you envisioned for yourself.
Thus, you gradually vanished from the limelight, keeping your distance from everyone else and spending most days in solitude. Better than having to look into those unscrupulous, opportunistic eyes measuring up your worth. You had fulfilled your job and purpose.
This morning you're woken up by the sound of your belongings rattling in their shelves. The wooden frame of your bed is creaking, and you struggle to get up. An earthquake? A wave of nausea flushes over you. You recognize this feeling all too well, though you never expected to deal with it again. This is a disaster alright, yet the forces of nature have nothing to do with it.
You rush outside, swinging the door open and nearly tripping in your hurry to confirm your suspicions: the demonic creature is approaching your humble adobe with heavy steps, as the ground crumbles and shatters underneath. The Demon King himself, in flesh and blood. Although the blood splattering his armor is most likely not his. Same for the visceral remains threading his weapon. Regardless, your jaw tightens nervously, and you stand back, in a defensive pose. "You're a stubborn one", you say smugly, trying to maintain your composure. "Can't say I'm a fan of dying, that is correct." A ragged, monstrous voice erupts from the tall, armored figure.
"What brings you back?" You demand. The surroundings are too peaceful for him to have tampered with the city. Did he stop by to formally announce his destruction? "I have an offer that might interest you." The Dark Overlord has closed the distance between you, now looming above your much smaller body. You shiver. "I don't barter with Demons!" You conclude, turning around, prepared to leave. "Even when your precious people are on the line?" The horned beast warns with a grin. "If there's nothing better to do as a Ruler of Realms than killing petty humans..." You swiftly retort, going back into your house and slamming the door shut.
He stands for a moment, speechless. "Y-your Majesty? Should I take care of the humans, or (Y/N)?" Only now he notices his scaly butler, bowing to his side with claws resting over the weapon. The Demon King raises a hand, shooing the servant away. The annihilation of the human race can wait. There are more important matters to deal with presently. He'd expected your rejection, naturally, but not in such fashion. The indifference, the flat voice, the empty eyes devoid of emotion. Have the city dwellers tampered with his hero? He expected to see your fierce rage and in return he was met with a hollow shell.
Bright blue flames erupt from the openings of his armor, resulting in a menacing show of lights. He's known it for the longest time, of course. Humans are rotten to their very core. Vile, deceitful creatures that have slithered their way up, exuding undeserved arrogance. He's been trying to show you this very fact, yet you were blinded by naive faith. Your unwavering, honest heart that won him over has turned out to be your early demise. Not anymore. His vengefulness knows no bounds when it comes to traitors.
The sudden spike in temperature alerts you. Was it your rudeness that angered the Demon? You don't care anymore. Whatever happens to the city is out of your hands. And yet...you're buckling the straps of your old suit made for battle. Sword in hand, you gaze at your reflection. What could the Beast want? The fortified city no longer holds the value of its olden days. Just like you've left your hero days behind. Without much contemplation, you run out and head for the main gates. The path is paved with ash and rubble and your grip on the weapon tightens. Regret immediately wells up in your chest, ready to burst out. Is it too late? The entrance is engulfed in fire, charred corpses toppling against the ruins of the walls.
You reach the town hall - or rather, what remains of it - and face the Demon King. Has he gotten stronger since your last encounter? You hold your breath as the horned monster turns towards you. "I've tried to tell you, again and again. Time after time." He sighs, defeated. "Between the two of us, I'd say you were the stubborn one all along." His voice is softer than what you would've expected from someone that had just massacred an entire settlement. There's not a single scratch or sign of struggle. Was he merely holding back during your last fight? One thing is certain: you're his final obstacle. You raise your sword, determined. Hot sweat trickles down your face as the flames surround you. "Well, at least you've convinced yourself now, I hope. There's nothing left for you here." The Demon King lowers himself, extending a fist towards you. A spell? Secret weapon? Your leg muscles contract in anticipation.
His fingers open and stretch out, slowly. In his palm, a barely noticeable ring. Given the ridiculous size difference, you assume this is better fitting for a human. You stare at it in confusion, discerning the wedding vows carved in the noble metal. "What's the meaning of this?" You mutter, glancing at the Beast now resting on one knee before you. "What? Is it not your human custom?" He looks away for a moment, clicking his tongue. "That useless butler. He told me- Forget it! You are to return with me to my Kingdom. As my spouse."
Of all the things you've prepared yourself for...Your brows furrow and your mouth hangs open in shock.
What is your answer? The Demon King will not leave empty-handed.

choso can feel his heart stutter in his chest, bumping against his ribcage. god, who just walked in? the pen he's using to draw in his tablet clatters to the ground, though he can't be bothered to pick it up because he is too busy staring at you.
oh, you, with your lovely little dress hitching near the middle of your thigh. strappy sandals and painted nails, you have him hooked. the parlor is dimly lit and smells of ink and paper and alcohol. the kind that's used for cleaning wounds and not the one that you get drunk on with your friends on friday nights. he doesn't even hear your words and you have to repeat them.
"sorry, what did you say?" he sounds out of breath despite not doing any physical exertion. and you grin, that smile would put the sun to shame.
"that's alright. i wanted to get a tattoo but i wasn't sure if you accepted walk-ins?" you trail off towards the end in an inquiring tone. you know that they don't. it's their pinned post on social media.
he does not accept walk-ins. "sure we do, what do you have in mind?"
your eyes brighten, grinning even wider, and choso thinks he might just die and go to heaven right now. he can't stop glancing at you when you show him the designs on your phone.
"where do you want it done?" he asks at the end, opening a blank page on his tablet to finalize a design. you can't help but observe him, leaning over the counter, hair in two twin ponytails and eyeliner done to perfection.
"i was thinking my hip? like if i wore a bikini, i want the tattoo to be partially obscured by the bikini bottoms." choso thinks he may as well have short-circuited with the speed his brain is malfunctioning. you notice his delayed response and almost cooed. he's shy.
this isn't the first time a client has asked for a tattoo in a risqué position, and he's never batted an eye at nudity either. but he's entirely unsure of himself when you strip down to your panties (you ended up taking off the short dress, though you did wear a cami underneath it), and he's thinking maybe he does have a problem with nudity after all (most people call this problem an erection, but choso's not that crude).
"you're gonna have to pull it aside, or i can cut it off." he doesn't specify which part, and now your eyes widen.
swallowing thickly, you ask, "what do you mean?" you know what he means, but you sort of hope he meant something else.
"the side of your underwear, we can just cut a slit—oh," he understands what his previous sentence sounded like when he sees your face contort into disbelief and then promptly dissolve into relief.
he doesn't look at you directly, "sorry, i don't know why i said that. it's, oh god, sorry to make you uncomfort—" he's cut off by your words of understanding.
"it's my fault really. i swear i'm not uncomfortable. really, choso." oh, the money he'd pay to hear his name leave your lips again.
"…if you say so. i'll use the scissors now, if that's okay?" you nod, smiling to encourage him. god knows he needs no encouragement to cut off your panties. there's silence in the parlor except for the sound of fabric being cut. he hands you a small towel to cover whatever you need to, but you just place it to the side. you know what you're doing. choso isn't sure if you're an angel or the devil.
he makes sure his ponytails aren't loose and puts on some nitrile gloves, black like his hair. you're wondering if you should break the silence, make some small talk, put the boy out of his misery, or just let the tension simmer.
"i really like the face tattoo thing you've got going on." he snaps up to look at you, then immediately reddens. his fingers hover above the black stripe across his face.
"yeah?"
"mhm." you lift your hand, thumbing his cheek where the tattoo ends. he's still the entire time.
you'd be the death of him.
with careful hands, he sanitizes the part of your hip where the tattoo would go on. he may have taken a little bit longer than usual, his fingertips pressing into your skin with the thin layer of an alcohol wipe acting as a barrier. your skin is soft, and he wants to grip your hips more actively. without the façade of a tattooist doing his job.
you're not feeling calm anymore, and in a sudden fit of unadvised decision-making, you grab choso's wrist (this choice was not peer-reviewed by your groupchat, but at the moment you find it in yourself that you don't really care). he startles but doesn't say anything.
"i'm nervous," you murmur. he instantly softens, melts, and reaches out to grab your shoulder in a sort of platonic 'i'm there for you' way. you're not planning to be platonic.
"that's alright lovely, everybody gets nervous before tattoos. it's more common than you think. would you like water?" his voice is soothing, and the way his lips move. you know what you need. you know what would calm you down.
"i know another way we can get rid of my nerves."
"mm, how so?"
"kiss me."
he almost chokes. he looks at your dead serious expression.
he is so fucked.

CASUAL pt.2— lando norris (angst)
pairing; fem!reader x lando norris summary: it took lando too long to realise it wasn't just 'casual'. warnings: a LOT of angst, toxic relationship, sexual implication, not proofread a/n: casual part 2 was not really a part of the plan but the audience had demands 🦧also i think this was too long lmao. AND IM SO SORRY FOR THE LONG DELAY OMG
part 1 - casual
Tumblr media
miami grand prix: the biggest pr nightmare for every driver—especially lando norris.
the media had been all over him that weekend, going to the lengths of literally calling him 'the hottest catch on the single market'. hollywood stars and instagram models were so desperate to marry him and have his kids that they didn't catch on the fact that he was a 23-year-old racing driver who couldn't give a fuck about them.
because he was stuck on you.
for weeks, he'd waited—hoping you’d reach out, or at the very least, watch his instagram stories. he posted shirtless photos, sun-kissed photos—hell, he even threw out a thirst trap just for you. But you didn’t take the bait. you didn't take the fucking bait.
you hadn't texted him or spoken to him since the moment you walked out of that hotel room weeks ago, so he didn't try to reach out either. "would've been a blow to my ego," he'd told sainz.
but now, he didn't give a shit about his ego. he was tired of waiting.
his eyes darted across the packed club, friends and guests scattered all around. he couldn't wait to get out of there.
he hadn't been drinking. didn't really feel like it. truth be told, he hadn’t been feeling much of anything at all.
pool parties, clubs, yachts, champagne and girls.
he was tired of the glitz and glam of his life, and you were the only escape from it.
but you were gone.
his mind wandered to that morning, when you had kissed him and the two of you had ordered room service. when he had held you for the last time.
he hated how the only thing on his mind was you. how it was the only thing on his mind all through the celebrations, as hookers danced around him and people tried to pour drinks into his mouth.
for fuck's sake, he had won a grand prix for the first time in his life, and yet he was unhappy.
how did he get here?
he looked up, eyes falling on a group of men in the VIP section, the lights illuminating their faces.
everyone could tell something was off with lando. he didn't want to do any of this.
all he wanted was you. you, you, you.
the girl who had left without an explanation.
why had you left, anyway? no calls, no texts. your friends avoided him, and you avoided his friends. it was like the two of you were nothing.
lando norris was many things, but he was not a fool. he could recognise when something was wrong, or when a situation had escalated beyond his control.
he knew that there was a reason why you left, but the reason never clicked in that thick brain of his. what had he done wrong? where had he gone wrong?
"i'm not feeling too well, mate." he muttered, handing the beer bottle back to the guy standing next to him.
okay, maybe not admitting his feelings for you had fucked things up. but, what could you expect? he didn't have the time to give you what you deserved.
not right now, at least.
lando norris had the world on his fingertips. he could have any girl he wanted. anyone, really.
"what are you waiting for, then?" the other man asked, shoving his hands into his pockets.
"what?"
"just call her, bro. i know it's about a girl because there's no way any sane man would say no to expensive beers and a million hot hookers."
did lando even know this man? probably not.
"i can't call her. she doesn't want to talk to me. trust me, i've tried."
"have you?"
he didn't know how to deal with rejection. not like this, not with you. you weren't supposed to leave.
"judging by your sulkiness, i doubt you're going to find a girl like her again. and you'll never have her if you're here."
lando didn't have a heart of stone, as much as his social media persona might suggest. he didn't care for any of this. the women, the money, the fame.
he wanted to hold you again. kiss you, tell you he loves you. he wanted to hold your hand. he wanted to be near you, and only you.
so, when his feet hit the floor and he found himself walking towards the exit, he wasn't surprised.
yeah, it was foolish of him to leave a party full of women who were celebrating him (literally) for a girl who had ghosted him, but the need was stronger than his pride.
out of the yacht, he was dialling the only number he'd ever memorised. the phone rang, and then it rang again.
would she be wearing his clothes, or would she have gotten rid of everything related to him?
maybe she'd found another man, finally realising that lando was a bad investment.
as the phone rang, you were hidden in your apartment with blankets wrapped around you and a youtube video playing in the background.
it had been months since you'd heard the word 'casual' leave his mouth. months since you had fled london and monaco to move to miami.
at first, his words had echoed in your mind constantly, and you'd cried yourself to sleep a few times more than you'd like to admit.
but just like every heartbroken poet in history, the hurt faded and the pain slowly morphed into hatred. and anger.
you wanted to slam your head against a wall. scratch that, you wanted to slam his head against a wall.
it was so stupid, and you hated yourself for believing he'd been genuine.
it was just sex. that's all it ever was. it truly was just casual.
the phone was still ringing. your finger hesitated over the answer button. you weren't going to answer it.
it wasn't worth it. you didn't want to hear his voice. didn't want him to have the satisfaction of knowing that his words had hurt you. you didn't want to know if he was sleeping around, if his girlfriends were prettier than you.
so the line went dead.
lando stood by the harbour, watching as yachts and ships sailed past him. the air was humid and his t-shirt clung to his body, the heat almost unbearable. the sound of waves, the distant laughter and music, and the sound of his ragged breaths.
he ran his fingers through his hair, looking around. where was his car?
he had to find his way back to his hotel. he was a mess, and his clothes were sticking to his skin. he needed to fix his appearance, buy a bouquet a flowers.
he checked the time on his watch, and cursed as he saw the numbers. it was almost 3 am. he wouldn't find flowers anywhere at 3 am.
"fuck it." he said, running over to his car. the drive was quiet, save for the low hum of music and his occasional swearing when someone drove a little bit slower than he'd like.
lando norris had the world on his fingertips. he could have any girl he wanted. anyone, really. but he only wanted you. he was a hopeless romantic, and you were his muse.
when he pulled up outside the apartment, his nerves were going haywire. he ran a hand through his hair and took a deep breath before getting out of the car.
he knocked twice on the door and when it opened, his eyes lit up.
you stared back at him, sleepiness in your eyes and confusion etched on your face.
and god, did you look gorgeous.
he loved you, he realised. he had to cross his hands behind his back to stop them from reaching out and holding you close.
"lando?" you breathed out.
he had grown a slight stubble since you last saw him. his hair were still the same, except a little bit longer. his blue eyes were wide as he looked at you.
"hey," his voice was shaky.
"what the fuck are you doing here?"
he wanted to say so many things. ask you why you left, where it went wrong, why you moved to miami. he wanted to declare his love for you, press his lips to yours, hold you by the waist. he wanted to hear you say that you loved him too.
he was so in love with you, and you had no idea.
"lando? why are you here?" you asked again.
he was at a loss of words. what could he say? he couldn't exactly just stand there and say nothing.
"because," his voice cracked, "i miss you."
your throat went dry. he could not just say that.
it had been weeks. weeks of him not contacting you, weeks of you not speaking to him. the phone calls had stopped, the text messages had stopped, the late night chats had stopped. everything was just gone.
and now, he missed you?
tears welled up in your eyes, a lump forming in your throat. you shook your head, pushing back the tears, "go away."
"what? no, wait. wait. don't do this." he pleaded, his voice fragile and desperate, like a child trying to avoid bedtime.
"lando-"
he interrupted you, voice louder than before. "can we please talk about this?"
"what is there to talk about?" you were raising your voice. you hated him. how could he act like this after all that happened?
"everything. just—please, can i come in?" he sounded so pathetic. he felt so pathetic. his hands were slightly hovering over the door, ready to push it open and walk in.
the request took you by surprise. "i-no."
you missed him. there was no denying that.
you wanted him to tell you it was okay. wanted to go back to that night in his mclaren, the night he told you he liked you. wanted the weekends spent in london with his family. you wanted him, all of him.
his curly hair wrapped around your fingers, blue eyes staring at you, soft lips kissing you. his cold hands grabbing yours, and his voice saying your name. you wanted it to not be casual.
"i just want to talk to you."
he was drunk. there was no other way he would've showed up here, let alone begged to talk to you. the fact that he needed to be drunk to have this conversation made your blood boil.
"do you still have my jacket?"
of course, you still had his stupid jacket. the one that had his smell embedded into the fabric. it was an exclusive print mclaren had given him, and he had swung it around your shoulders after the night you had first made love to each other.
but he didn't care about the jacket, and neither did you. it was just a reminder.
you were silent for a while, taking in the sight of each other. it was his breath mingling with yours.
"i love you." he whispered.
your breath hitched in your throat, the tears finally falling out of your eyes as you sighed.
"i love you," he repeated to himself. "yes, i do. and i've known that since the day i met you."
you choked back sobs as you shook your head, "you're drunk, lando."
"i'm not," he chuckled, "maybe a little, but not enough."
then, he added, "i mean it. i love you." his voice was steady. he truly meant every word. but he didn't know what would happen now.
"what do you want me to say, lando?"
he sighed, "anything."
you laughed bitterly. anything, he said.
anything would've been better than what had happened.
"i don't think i can do this, lando."
"we can take it slow."
"you've never done slow."
he fell silent again because you were right. he'd never done slow. he didn't know how to take things slow. he was a fucking formula 1 driver, after all. slow wasn't something he did. he'd always lived life like it was the last day. and that's how he had lost you.
"i'm sorry," he began, his voice breaking. "i should've been a better person. i'm sorry for everything i did. i should've given you more, i-i should've loved you more, because you deserve so much more. i'm so, so, sorry."
"lando," you whispered, "it's not—"
"don't make excuses for me, please. i love you, i realy do. and if i have to spend the rest of my life proving that, i will." and he meant every word. "i just want you back."
your mind was racing, a million thoughts running through it. it was like a movie. his blue eyes, his voice, the desperation in his tone, the way he stood before you.
"okay," you muttered.
"wait, okay? does that mean—"
"you're gonna have to work for this," you said.
"i know, and i will. i promise."
you sighed, rubbing your temple. this wasn't a good idea. "get in."
lando's face lit up, and before you could change your mind, he had walked into the apartment. he hadn't really been here before, considering you moved here after the two of you had stopped talking. but the apartment was lovely, homely. everything you.
you closed the door behind him, watching him look around the living room.
"how'd you know where i live?"
he chuckled, turning to face you. "i'm a famous driver. i have my sources."
"i'm sure." a tense silence followed, neither of you knowing what to say.
"i'm not letting this happen again," he blurted, "i'm not. i don't know how, but i won't."
"i don't believe you." you scoffed.
"fuck, baby, what do i have to do for you to believe me?" he stepped towards you, closing the distance.
"stop calling me that."
"you are my baby." he tried to joke.
"lando, i'm not joking."
"i'm serious too," his voice was sincere, "i love you, and i'll do whatever it takes for you to believe me."
you had been through a lot together. the highs, the lows. you had seen him at his best, and at his worst. the good and the bad.
he moved closer, reaching a hand out to hold yours. you didn't know why, but the moment his hand touched yours, it was like a switch had flipped inside of you.
you let his hand wander over yours like a ghost, his calloused fingertips tracing over your knuckles. he intertwined your fingers together, eyes casted down.
"i've never cared about anyone the way i care about you." he admitted in a soft voice.
and then he pressed his lips to yours. his other hand wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
and god, did he taste the same. lando had a way with his lips. it was a talent. he kissed you like he needed your lips to survive. he was desperate for your touch as if he had been starving without it.
you were so lost in the feeling that you hadn't realised how far you had pushed him until the back of his knees hit the couch, and he fell on top of it.
his eyes were wide, mouth hanging open. his shirt was halfway unbuttoned, exposing his chest and toned abs.
the two of you stared at each other, eyes searching the other's.
"i love you." he murmured for what seemed like the hundredth time that night.
maybe it was the way his blue eyes bore into yours, or the way his lips quivered, or maybe it was the fact that he had driven across the city to say this.
but for the first time that night, you believed him. suddenly, the anger was gone. it was all gone.
"i love you, too." you whispered.
it was the only thing the two of you needed. the confirmation, the reassurance. the love.
you leaned down and connected your lips once more, hand reaching up to his curls and tugging lightly. he moaned into the kiss, pulling you on top of him.
your tongue entered his mouth, the taste of him making you lightheaded. his hands roamed over your body, the feeling of his skin against yours.
"baby," he whispered between kisses, "i want you so bad. i've waited so long."
his lips trailed along your jaw and down your neck, sucking marks into the sensitive skin.
"i want you," he murmured against the crook of your neck, "so fucking bad."
but he pulled away, flipping the two of you over so he was on top of you. he took off his shirt, and rested his head on your chest. he cleared his throat, "i should've asked this question earlier, but are you single?"
"yeah." you chuckled, running a hand through his curls.
"so, can i be your boyfriend?"
"lando norris," you hummed, "did you finally get the guts to ask me out?"
"yes," he smiled, lifting his head up to look at you, "yes, i did. will you be my girlfriend?"
"you're a dork."
"that's not an answer."
"yes," you laughed, "yes, i'll be your girlfriend."
lando grinned, and you grinned back.
it wasn't casual anymore.
