Alright so I finally did finish watching the thing and.. yeah, it’s kinda rushed in the last episode. The last episode could have really benefited from being split in 2 and from the story breathing a little bit more, but overall? Holy shit. Holy shit. What a great fucking job @ everyone involved.

I’ve been listening to like 7 different video essays at work each day and I feel insane, wowow cinema
I’m also too close to reading Star Wars fanfic for someone who has only seen like 2 movies on middle school field trips. This can’t be it, I can’t betray my bestest friend and Ben obi wan like that for an andor and a rouge one video essay to do me in.
I have not gotten sick of them at all and I fear I require new ones each coming day
I am becoming more powerful

The "Ghost" of halloween | A.D
Tumblr media
Pairing: Astrid deetz X reader
Astrid pov's
I increase my pedaling speed, the wind tangling my hair. I was tired of arguing with my mother, tired of being teased for being a Deetz. Why did my mother have to be the crazy woman who believed she could talk to ghosts, see ghosts? And most of all, why did she have to do it on television, where millions of people could witness the spectacle?
I didn’t believe in my mother’s abilities in the slightest, especially because, according to her, she couldn’t even contact my father.
The only person who truly understood me, the only person who, with his quirks, had passed on to me his love for horror, the one person I desperately wanted to see again in my miserable life.
The one person I would never see again. Starting today, my grandfather too.
I clenched my jaw, trying to mask my mood, and kept pedaling. My hands gripped the bike's handlebars tightly as I moved my legs faster, my gaze drifting over the decorations for tomorrow's upcoming Halloween celebration.
My mother’s wedding to her stupid fiancé.
I sighed loudly. My mother had ruined my favorite holiday. I pushed that thought aside and focused on the decorations: skeletons hanging here and there, cobwebs, pumpkins, and strange monsters in the yards. Children strolled along the streets, showing off their spooky costumes.
A small smile formed on my lips.
The sound of a car horn jerked me out of my thoughts, and when I turned my head, I saw a black Jeep coming dangerously close in my direction. My eyes widened, and I instinctively turned the handlebars toward the sidewalk, narrowly avoiding the car.
"Watch out!" yelled a man I almost hit.
My grip on the handlebars became iron-tight, and with all the fear and adrenaline in the world, I tried to dodge the pedestrians, earning a few insults for my reckless riding. My eyes widened further, and my breathing grew rapid with each passing second.
The bike had picked up speed, and I had completely lost control. I closed my eyes as I saw a fence rushing into my path, bracing myself for the impact. The sound of wood splintering echoed in my ears, and the sudden slope caused me to lose balance, crashing into a tree and tumbling to the ground.
A giggle made me look up.
Groaning in pain, I saw a girl looking at me with amusement from the treehouse I had just destroyed. I rubbed my head, trying to ease the pain.
"I'm sorry," I mumbled, embarrassed.
The girl’s eyes widened before she sat on the edge of the house, her y/c eyes watching me with curiosity and amusement.
"Are you okay?" she asked, a hint of amusement in her voice.
"Yeah, sorry about the fence. My family will pay for the damages," I said, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
"Oh, don’t worry about it," the girl waved her hand dismissively, and I smiled shyly, brushing a strand of hair out of my face.
"Where are you from? I’ve never seen you around here, and I’d remember someone as cute as you," she asked kindly, her voice dripping with curiosity.
"Uhmm... from there," I admitted shyly, pointing to the large house visible on the hill. My cheeks reddened at her compliment. She thinks I’m cute.
Her eyes followed my gesture toward the house, and she smiled faintly.
“The haunted house?" she asked with a teasing tone, and I huffed at her playful jab.
"Let’s just drop it. Sorry about the fence, see you around," I muttered, annoyed.
I had thought I’d finally met someone interesting, someone different from the bullies who teased me at school every day. She was probably one of them, and I didn’t even recognize her.
"Hey, I’m sorry, don’t leave," she quickly murmured.
I glanced back at the girl sitting on the treehouse planks, her y/c eyes looking at me with guilt.
Maybe she wasn’t trying to mock me. She gave me a small apologetic smile, and I blushed violently, once again brushing my hair from my face.
She’s really cute.
The anger faded quickly.
"I didn’t mean to offend you," she confessed, and I nodded in understanding. "Do you want to come up?" she offered timidly, and my heart skipped a beat at her proposal.
"Sure," I replied, feeling nervous.
I walked over to the tree and climbed up the ladder quickly, arriving on the wooden planks that led to the small house. The girl had moved aside and was watching me, her hands in her pockets, her eyes tracing my figure. She wore an oversized hoodie, jeans that fit her perfectly, and white Adidas sneakers.
"So… have you ever seen any ghosts?" she asked playfully, leading me inside the house.
"I haven’t, but my mother has," I confessed awkwardly.
My eyes wandered curiously over the surroundings: several music posters from the '90s proudly hung on the walls. I sat down next to her, surrounded by cushions.
"And you don’t believe in them?" she asked timidly.
I shook my head.
"Honestly, I think it’s all crap," I admitted with a small smile, my eyes meeting hers in amusement.
The girl smiled and tilted her head to the side, her long y/c hair gracefully falling over her shoulders.
My heart skipped a beat.
"I believe in them," she said shyly, pulling her knees up to her chest. She rested her chin on them and looked at me with a playful gleam in her eyes.
"Then I guess you must like my mother’s show," I said bitterly.
The girl tilted her head in confusion.
"What show?" she asked timidly.
"You don’t know my mom’s show? Lydia Deetz?" I asked, surprised.
Maybe she was the first person in this awful town who didn’t know about my mother’s show. Was I relieved or not?
"You’re a Deetz?" she asked, surprised, her eyes widening comically.
"Yes, I’m Astrid Deetz," I said with a half-laugh.
The situation was pretty amusing.
"Oh wow, I’ve heard about you," she said calmly, a playful smile on her lips.
"Yeah?" I asked curiously.
"Yeah, I… I mean, my mom told me what happened back then," she muttered quickly, and I giggled at the panicked look on her face.
Her expression relaxed when she saw me laugh.
"Anyway… tomorrow is Halloween," she said with a small smile.
At the mention of tomorrow's holiday, the thought of my mother’s wedding popped into my mind, making me grimace in disgust.
"You don’t like Halloween?" she asked playfully, probably noticing my expression.
"It’s my favorite holiday," I admitted with a bitter smile.
"Mm-hmm… it didn’t seem like it from the face you made," she said, glancing at me from the corner of her eye.
"My mom is getting married to her fiancé," I grimaced in disgust.
"Oh… I guess your dad’s not too happy about that," she muttered to herself.
A sharp pain hit my chest at the mention of my dad, and the girl, probably noticing my reaction, shifted closer to me.
"My dad died years ago," I confessed, a tear threatening to escape.
The girl looked at me with sadness.
"I’m sorry," her y/c eyes looked at me with compassion, and for a moment, she raised her hand as if to offer me a comforting touch, but she quickly pulled it back.
"Don’t worry… Halloween used to be my favorite because of him. He’d go all out making my costumes," I smiled softly at the memory.
The countless laughs and moments spent together, preparing and trying to match our costumes, flashed through my mind, making me smile nostalgically.
"You have a beautiful smile… you should show it more," the girl mumbled softly, and I glanced at her from the corner of my eye, blushing at her words. I bit my lower lip and looked at her in amusement.
"Thanks," I replied quietly, embarrassed.
"By the way, I’m Y/n," the girl said shyly, watching me with amusement.
I nodded at her words and turned my attention to the view outside: the sky was tinged with orange, signaling the arrival of evening.
"I have to go, it’s getting late," I quickly murmured, standing up.
Even though I was having fun spending time with this girl, I didn’t want to worry or argue with my mother again. I climbed down the ladder and walked toward my bike, picking it up.
I glanced up at the girl.
"See you tomorrow?" I asked, a smile spreading across my face as I mounted my bike.
"Is that a date?" she asked playfully, leaning against the tree. I blushed at her words, my heart pounding wildly in my chest.
I nodded.
"It was a pleasure, Astrid," the girl smiled sweetly at me.
"The pleasure was mine, Y/n," I smiled back.
I can’t wait for tomorrow.
A/n: I hope you like it ;)

When it comes to ending the world, Stephen King is a repeat offender. He has brought life as we know it to a brutal conclusion several times over the decades, usually highlighting the cruelty and desperation that erupts among the last to go. But his 2020 story “The Life of Chuck” uses doomsday to evoke some unlikely sentiments: Wistfulness. Gratitude. Even joy.
The idea of creating an apocalyptic version of It’s a Wonderful Life is what led filmmaker Mike Flanagan to call dibs on the rights to the novella more than four years ago. The breakdown of society, extinction-level natural disasters, and the disintegration of reality itself is explored through the lens of one relatively meek and mild accountant, played by Tom Hiddleston, whose memories and choices are mysteriously connected to these tribulations. Retirement posters congratulating him on “39 great years” pop up everywhere. But who is this guy? What job does he do (or did he used to do)? And why does it matter so much to the fate of the world? This apparent nobody named Chuck Krantz has lived larger than anyone thought possible.
Having explored King country before in 2017’s Gerald’s Game and 2019’s The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep, Flanagan got involved after reading an early copy of “Chuck” before it was published in the collection If It Bleeds. The Haunting of Hill House and Fall of the House of Usher creator produced the film independently, believing it might be too offbeat for risk-averse studios to greenlight. He even secured a waiver from the striking Hollywood guilds last year to move forward with the shoot while the rest of the industry was stuck in the work stoppage. Now he and Hiddleston are ready to reveal the finished version of The Life of Chuck as it heads to the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, where it will screen for potential distributors.
Tumblr media
Among the skeptics about this adaptation was King himself, according to Flanagan. “His initial responses to me were a little like, ‘Oh, okay. Yeah. If you think that’s a movie…,’” he says. “He did say several times that he thought it would be a challenge to get it supported through traditional means.”
King has now seen the finished movie and no longer has doubts. He described it to Vanity Fair as “a happiness machine.”
“Well, he’s written something very tender and very wise,” Hiddleston says. “I think there is a great wisdom in the soul of the story, which is that it takes courage to hold on to what is good in a world that feels like it’s falling apart.”
Flanagan hopes others see it that way too, although the overpowering dread that begins the story may be more immediately relatable. “I’ve heard it said that every generation feels a little like the world is ending at some point, [but] I still feel like it’s different for us,” the 46-year-old filmmaker says with a mordant laugh. “Institutions we took for granted as propping up our society are failing left and right. Our politics have degraded spectacularly. The sense that it’s breaking down, that the world is moving on, has been increasingly palpable. When I talk to my parents or members of older generations who have been through their own turbulent times, the thing that strikes me is that they’re like, ‘Oh yeah, this is really bad.’”
But…it’s not entirely bad. And that’s the underlying message of The Life of Chuck as its various mysteries play out. “There’s no sense of terror in the way that King drew it,” Flanagan says. “Even as the world feels as though it’s ending, people become introspective, they reach into their past for loves that have left their lives for one reason or another. Strangers engage in open and fearless communication.”
It’s an indie-film variation on the big-budget cataclysm story. “A disaster movie has people meeting the end while running from tidal waves, and this story has people sitting quietly holding hands looking at the stars,” Flanagan says.
The key to it all is Chuck himself, although he doesn’t turn up onscreen until the second segment of the three-act story, which plays out in reverse chronological order.
The beginning is actually the end, as the whole world circles the drain. Caught in this spiral is Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), a school teacher trying to apply logic to the planet’s troubles; Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) is his ex, a hospital worker determined to save everyone she can; Matthew Lillard (Scream) is a construction worker neighbor who finds zen amid the chaos; and Carl Lumbly (Alias), plays a funeral director who has dedicated his life to easing people through death.
Tumblr media
The end of the movie is actually the beginning, showing young Chuck (Benjamin Pajak) when he was a boy being raised by his grandparents (Mia Sara of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Mark Hamill). The insight of these two—coupled with the otherworldly revelations he finds in an eerie room tucked into the peak of their Victorian home—help him learn to seek out bright spots when life is marred by sorrow and darkness.
In elementary school, young Chuck discovers some important things about himself thanks to guidance from a brusque dance instructor (Samantha Sloyan), and a kindhearted English teacher, played by Kate Siegel, who gives the boy (not to mention the audience) some important information that serves as a code breaker for the story's more cosmic puzzles.
As for the middle of the film: It’s a dance number. That’s when Hiddleston steps in.
Compounding the peculiarity of The Life of Chuck is the question: Why is this song and dance sequence so important? The answer is for the movie to reveal, but it matters a lot. “The life of every human being is a constellation, as expressed in this film,” Hiddleston says. “There are certain moments which will burn most brightly as individual stars. Sometimes it feels like the world is going to hell in a handcart, and it’s full of pain and suffering, and it is—but there are moments of deep joy and deep connection.”
Tumblr media
Hiddleston shows the audience this single moment in the life of a buttoned-up fellow who somehow controls the destiny of the world. It’s not necessarily the most important day in his life, but it’s a memorable one involving a street drummer (Taylor Gordon), a lovely stranger (played by Annalise Basso), and a fateful decision to cast aside caution and cut a rug. “It’s a reminder to do whatever it is that expresses whatever gives you that feeling of being alive,” Hiddleston says. “Whether it’s music or dancing or math or writing or creativity—do it. Do it now. Those moments are what you’ll remember.”
Flanagan considered casting a relative unknown as Chuck to “give the audience the experience of ‘Who the hell is this person?’” as the peculiar retirement signs begin to appear in the midst of the apocalypse. But he felt the promise of the Loki star would build more curiosity as the world falls apart. “You grow an enormous amount of anticipation to finally spend time with an actor like Tom, who can be a literal god in one story, and then an everyman in another,” Flanagan says.
A TikTok video of Hiddleston getting his groove on sealed the deal. “He had a completely unfiltered joy on his face,” Flanagan says. “He was a good dancer, but that wasn’t what struck me. I wasn’t amazed by the technique so much as the degree of happiness that was radiating off of him. The look on his face made me smile the same way I smiled reading that particular portion of the book.”
Tumblr media
The resulting scene was created in a month-long collaboration between Flanagan, Hiddleston, Basso, choreographer Mandy Moore (So You Think You Can Dance, and La La Land), and Gordon, a real-life percussionist who performs under the name the Pocket Queen. “Taylor was there for all of the dance choreography. She wrote that piece of music for that performance. They built it together,” Flanagan says.
Hiddleston rattles off the lists of influences: “I had to learn in six weeks the full regime of any dance training. We did jazz, swing, salsa, cha-cha, the Charleston, bossa nova, polka, quickstep, samba. We were trying to tip our hat to anything that might have influenced Chuck. It might’ve had a bit of Gene Kelly or Fred and Ginger. Certainly moonwalking—Stephen King is very specific about the moonwalk.”
Precision was not the goal, exuberance was what they sought. “We need to always bear in mind that this man is an accountant. We needed this to be an earnest, escalating explosion of joy, and a remembrance of who he was,” Flanagan says. “It’s a chance to step back into the skin of his younger self, not caring that his feet are going to kill him the next day, not caring that he’s going to wake up with a horribly stiff neck.”
A surprising thing happened while shooting the scene over the course of several sweltering afternoons in the deep South. “I burned holes in my shoes,” Hiddleston says. “I was dancing out on the asphalt in Alabama, and by the time we’d finished, you could see my socks through the soles.”
The sequence begins awkwardly: Chuck is self-conscious as he first hears the busker’s rhythm while walking back from a banking conference. That feeling quickly gets shaken off. “Tom was very committed,” Flanagan says. “He was like, ‘If I look silly, that’s fine. As long as I look happy.’”
Tumblr media
Flanagan remembers being in a bad place when he first discovered “The Life of Chuck.” Then again, everybody was.
His copy of the manuscript arrived in March 2020. “That was just as the world shut down for COVID,” he says. “We had been a week away from starting principal photography on Midnight Mass in Vancouver and had fled across the border before it closed to make it back to the States. We were hunkered down in our homes and had no idea if this was going to last for two weeks or if this was going to last forever.”
With everything halted as the lockdown set in, Flanagan had plenty of time to do nothing but read. The new King book seemed like the perfect escape. Except…
“The first third of ‘The Life of Chuck’ just rattled me,” he recalls. “There’s no way he wrote this before the world ground to this bizarre halt—but he did. And the feeling of anxiety, and uncertainty, and that everything was falling apart came roaring out at me. I wasn’t sure I could finish it. It just felt too close to the anxiety I was feeling.” But he kept turning the pages. “By the end of it, I was in tears, and incredibly uplifted, and convinced I’d read maybe the best thing that he’d written in a decade. I just was floored by the thing,” Flanagan says. “So I fired off an email to him right away saying how much I loved the story, how incredible I thought it was, how meaningful, and important, and how it had really tattooed itself on my heart and said, ‘It’s the movie I want to make so that it’ll exist in the world for my kids.’”
Tumblr media
King’s response: Not so fast. Flanagan and his producing partner, Trevor Macy, had at that point secured the rights to King’s fantasy saga The Dark Tower through their company, Intrepid Pictures. The eight-book series is threaded throughout King’s other works, and adapting it was a massive undertaking that Flanagan is still working to make happen. Other filmmakers had either abandoned the project, were canceled midway through, or bombed miserably. The author didn’t want him to be distracted. “He doesn’t like to give the same filmmaker more than one thing, because it typically means one thing is not advancing at all,” Flanagan says. “He said, ‘Well, let’s focus on The Tower and I’ll try to keep this one available for you for later.’”
The quest to The Dark Tower remains a priority for Flanagan, but a number of disruptions to that epic undertaking led him to reapproach King last year about Chuck. Intrepid’s deal with Netflix, where they had created Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and other shows, had come to a close, and Intrepid signed a new development agreement with Amazon. That meant starting over on The Dark Tower. Meanwhile, the threat of a double-barreled strike by writers and actors was on the horizon, stalling nearly every major new project. The industry plunged into another production-halting lockdown, this time over contract impasses rather than a virus.
Since The Dark Tower was suddenly further off on the horizon, Flanagan saw a chance to make The Life of Chuck happen in the short term. “It’s so rare that I get to approach any project that just has not an ounce of cynicism to it. I just really believed in this thing,” he says. “But it was also clear that we would have an incredibly uphill battle bringing the story to any major studio. They would try to make it as familiar as possible, instead of leaning into what makes it so different.”
King gave Flanagan his blessing to proceed. “I was off like a shot,” the filmmaker says. “I think I turned in the draft to him before he got around to sending the formal agreement.”
For everyone involved, The Life of Chuck became a bright spot in an otherwise dismal time, which matches the theme of the film. “There is a profound optimism in this story,” Hiddleston says. “As the world is spinning off its axis, there are moments of magic.”

Chop chop Hashira girl, i want the backstories of the 3, 30 episodes and 15 seasons for tomorrow (i love them so much sobs)
first of all , honored u see me as the hashira girl
the story is still very much in development but since ur interested ill at least tell u a bit about them!
im so sorry this took so long :,D none of my drafts about this post ever saved so i lost the strength
Huntwoe Hill is a dark fantasy story with central themes on family and relationships and the dark forces that can harm them— whether it be from outside the family, or inside
i recently had to make a comic page about them, so i’ll share that here!
Tumblr media
the first novel focuses on Wren Bishop, a sensitive and witty 18 year old girl who struggles with depression and left home as a result of her family’s treatment of her. as the “black sheep” of the Belladonna family, she has a habit of being really hard on herself. she specializes in photography and poetry, and loves birds
her closest friend is her older cousin Russel Rook (23), an elementary school music teacher and the golden boy of the Belladonna family. he’s a very kind hearted man who has been by Wren’s side since she was born. he’s dating a woman named Daisy, and volunteered to help chaperone her students on a field trip
Russel, Daisy, and 28 children go missing during their stay on Huntwoe Hill, a giant mountain that hundreds and thousands of people have died or gone missing in. because of this, the teachers and their students are almost immediately deemed to have not survived the harsh conditions of the mountain. Wren senses something is wrong, and goes on a one-man search for them
along the way she encounters their Uncle Foggy, who she had not seen in over eight years, as he was kicked out of the Belladonna family for reasons she was never told about. he’s a jaded and silly thirty year old man who used to tell his nieces and nephews all sorts of stories about the mountain. estranged and distancing himself, he sought to protect his family and uncover a curse inflicted upon them
Uncle Foggy reveals to Wren that the mountain serves as a doorway for all kinds of creatures and ghouls, and he works for an organization that hunts them
Wren, of course, doesn’t believe him until she encounters these creatures first hand
i can go into more depth about them in the future! this story has been years in the making and it’s still heavy in development, and i dont typically talk about my own oc’s, so we’ll see …
there is a much much larger cast, i’ve only designed three of them though haha
main sources of inspiration for this story stem from Demon Slayer, Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Soul Eater and the Doctor Strange comics/movies from MARVEL
thank you for being interested in them ahhhh! apologies again for how long this took :,0

have you ever wondered which actresses could portray the charmed ones if the story was set nowadays? (it may seem weird but i like to make fancasts about the books/shows i like and i was curious if you also thought about it...) i love your blog btw!
hiiiii i actually have never thought of this but i did some thinking over a lunch break or two and i came up with five different options ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Option One
Tumblr media
The Tried And True Brunettes!!
basically a one-to-one of the original except set in 2024 so adding a couple more modern slants i imagine prue would maybe work in tech or an app or a start up instead of the auction house, phoebe would def have some plotline with dating apps something or other tying into her column, chappell roan is def performing at p3
Claudia Jessie as Prue Halliwell // i’ve only seen her on bridgerton but the sharpness and the softness she displays with eloise i think would really help encapsulate prue
Victoria Pedritti as Piper Halliwell // ive seen her in a couple things but specifically the characters in the haunting of hill house and the haunting of bly manor i think could really lend itself to her earlier seasons versus her agro kind of insane variant as love in you could def show itself in the later seasons
Danielle Rose Russell as Phoebe Halliwell // if anyone’s seen legacies whenever drr is playing lizzie… i know she’s got the sauce
Mikey Madison as Paige Matthews // i only know her from the scream reboot but i totally see the vision
Option Two
Tumblr media
It’s San Francisco!!
for a show that so frequently reminds us it is set in san francisco and the surrounding bay area, it features so few asian characters it is honestly confusing, given that the city itself is roughly one third asian. the show initially seemed like in wanted to lean into that in the very first season given episodes like dead man dating, but it really petered out. this recasting offers a new perspective of the city as well as different facets of life for the charmed ones to explore (i would love to see a lunar new year episode / zodiac episode to overwrite the existing one in canon which is just so :///). for this specific casting, i would have them be a vietnamese family, with paige being half asian and half white raised by adopted white parents, so when she comes into the fold, it's not just her learning about her magical heritage but also her getting to learn and connect with her asian heritage as well
Kelly Marie Tran as Prue Halliwell // i've only seen her in star wars admittedly i don't even know which one i'm not a star wars girlie But i think she carries with her both the bravery of prue and that kind of strong dignity/forceful aura that would really help shape the role
Lana Condor as Piper Halliwell // i know her as lara jean from to all the boys i've loved before and honestly from that alone i think she'd kill as piper
Leah Lewis as Phoebe Halliwell // okay. so while i haven't actually watched nancy drew, my mutuals love it, and from the gifsets i've seen + the promos they would show before riverdale, i do think we've found our phoebe
Piper Curda as Paige Matthews // not the first and not the last pick from Legacies, piper was introduced in the 4th season i'm p sure and i really like her laid back / obviously gay aura and i think she would make a really interesting obviously gay paige
Option Three
Tumblr media
Asian Doesn’t Inherently Mean East Asian!!
i wanna see desi witches i feel like i never see desi witches!! plus the bay area / northern california as a whole has a very vibrant indian community so i would love to see that tapped into
Simone Ashley as Prue Halliwell // while she is in sex education we all know the example i'm going to give you here is kate sharma from bridgerton who is basically just regency prue halliwell
Amita Suman as Piper Halliwell // i know her as inej from shadow and bone which admittedly as a series, i did not like. however, i think amita is a talented actress and could pull off an excellent piper
Avantika Vandanapu as Phoebe Halliwell // best known for playing karen in the new mean girls movie. definitely would kill it as phoebe
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Paige Matthews // best known as devi in never have i ever, a show that i actually did not watch but my mom did so i've seen roughly 1/3 of all episodes. i think she's a very skilled actress and could play the willful, stubborn, and creative paige excellently
option four
Tumblr media
Black Girl Magic!!
i'm going to be perfectly honest with you -- this was absolutely motivated by having an ayo piper. think on it. like. gas.
Omono Okojie as Prue Halliwell // yet another legacies pick but what can i say i love the cast. i think she would bring an appropriate gravitas and like cool stubborness to prue
Ayo Edibiri as Piper Halliwell // hold up sydney adamu from the bear. hold up piper halliwell. they're the same picture.
Jadah Marie as Phoebe Halliwell // i know her from descendants 3 where she was playing dr facilier's daughter celia and that was really all the evidence i needed. she's totally phoebe
Madison Reyes as Paige Matthews // she's julie from julie and the phantoms which if you haven't seen you should esp if you love dcoms bc it's another kenny ortega classic. i think madison brings the right spirit to paige. additionally, being the half sister, she is actually not just black but afro latina, and could introduce new perspectives from her specific puerto rican descent esp in regards to brujeria (a la josefina in season 2 or maybe 3 of the charmed reboot)
Option Five
Tumblr media
Everyone Knows The Charmed Ones Are Blonde!!
We're standing in the home of the Charmed Ones, we've got their powers, we got their book, and we got blonde multi-tonal hair!!! on a very real level, could not resist making the blonde variants. largely motivated by sabrina carpenter as phoebe
Meghann Fahy as Prue Halliwell // known for the bold type and the white lotus i think meghann could really the convey the whole i'm lonely but i'm good/i'm bitter but i swear i'm fine vibe prue has going for her
Elle Fanning as Piper Halliwell // we see piper's soft side when elle plays aurora in maleficent and her agro side when she plays catherine in the great
Sabrina Carpenter as Phoebe Halliwell // do i really need to explain this? i'm right. you know i'm right.
Renee Rapp as Paige Matthews // come back to television the kids miss you. i know she usually plays the more prue coded characters like with leighton in the sex lives of college girls and arguably even regina george in mean girls but i've seen her in those interviews. "There is this man who owns a bus touring company. His name is buddy, and he is such an asshole, and he was so disrespectful to my friends, Priscilla and Bella, who I work with, and to my mother. If you're watching this, I can't stand you, and I hope your business burns. You are so disrespectful and so misogynistic. I. Hate. You." that's my paige matthews
castings for other characters under the cut ❤️
Leo Wyatt
Tumblr media
Dev Patel // like. logically. could we book dev patel? no. but does that make me want him any less? also no.
Kedar Williams Stirling // best known as jackson in sex education where he just exudes such good vibes you know what i'm saying? that just like nice aura. that's what i want for leo. when leo's around i want the feeling like things are going to be okay bc he's just so good
Alex Roe // if any of you watched siren on freeform i highly recommend the first two seasons i did give up on the third season but the first two were really good. he plays the male lead ben who i feel like honestly would translate over really well to leo. knowledgeable and constantly dealing with the women he loves as shit keeps getting weirder
Vanessa Morgan // she does that "gazes lovingly at a person you are basically cosmically tied to" so well in riverdale i know she could kill as leah wyatt
Cole Turner
Tumblr media
Manny Jacinto // i'm not watching the acolyte but i am watching those fancams and i'm gonna need more sexy villian manny jacinto asap
Nathan Parsons // one of those cw actors that gets passed around like the blunt so it only makes sense to have him here. i know him best as max from roswell new mexico but it's specifically when he plays jones, for all intents and purposes max's evil twin that he really starts cole cooking imo. i think he would offer a really fun take on cole.
Havana Rose Liu // who wouldn't go against both heaven and hell to be with her? i mainly know her from bottoms where she might not feel super cole coded but i see the vision
Chris O'Shea // i only know him as percival pickens in season six of riverdale but he served down and i know he'd make a great cole. watch s6 of riverdale. you don't have to watch any of the earlier seasons or any of the seasons after it to understand what's going on i promise. it's the season where they all get magic powers.
Darryl Morris
Tumblr media
Quentin Plair // another pick from roswell new mexico he plays dallas the sexy preacher among other things and i think he has a really good um. it's like. that running out of patience type vibe you know what i'm saying? i really like the way he can get the terse like i am being nice right now but i need you to know that is a choice i am making type vibe that i really like when darryl gets (like when darryl first meets cole and there's that tension its such a good darryl moment)
John David Washington // could we book him? idk i don't know if he's really been in any tv shows i know his mainly blackKklansman and tenet and i feel like he def has the chops to give us an excellent darryl
Charles Michael Davis // another cw actor best known to me personally as marcel on the originals and as we can see in the photo looks great in a suit i think he would make a really good darryl esp in the softer moments connecting with the sisters/leo
William Jackson Harper // okay thru googling him right now he's 44?? that's insane to me he does not look 44. most know him as chidi from the good place which i think offers the perfect "this might as well be happening" type energy darryl so often has

Ghosts
Steven Crain x Fem!Reader
Warning(s): canon-level things: death, drinking, swearing, etc.
Notes: My yearly re-watch of this show reminded me that I'm in love with Steven Crain. So...have this.
Summary: You’re Steven’s wife, someone who, not dissimilar to his siblings, can feel the supernatural- sorry, the "preternatural". Turns out you’re about to feel a lot.
Tumblr media
It’s the books on the shelf that make Steven grimace.
The entire collection of his books are sitting neatly on the top shelf, “Crain” staring at him in big letters on the spine.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve told you I was a fan,” Irene says.
He tries not to hold it against her, but the truth is that it’s hard.
He’s run into it before, a fan trying to slip their way into his books through made up stories or things they’ve convinced themselves they’ve seen.
Things he never has.
“That’s my favorite, the first one,” she says.
The Haunting of Hill House lies in Steven’s hands, the chapter book of family trauma that got his work off the ground.
“Silence lay steadily against the wood and stone at Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone.”
Steve resists the urge to roll his eyes at her perfect quotation.
“I can’t imagine what it was like living there,” she says, not catching the way his express has soured slightly. “The most famous haunted house in America.”
“In fairness,” he says, almost bitterly. “It wasn’t famous when we moved in.”
Memories long repressed peak towards the front of Steven’s mind, but more specifically that night…the last night.
So, he says, “besides, you’ve got me beat.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean if you actually saw your husband hanging upside down over your bed, you’ve seen more than I ever have. I’ve never seen a ghost.”
He slides Hill House back in its place on Irene’s shelf.
“But your books?” She questions, a wrinkle in her brow.
“Not in Arlington, Denvers, Alcatraz,” he gestures dismissively at the rest of the set. “On the Queen Mary or in Williamsburg. And not in Hill House.”
Irene seems taken aback by this, like someone had just told her her favorite love song was written by someone who’d never been in love.
“The way you write, I just assumed-“
“Other people’s stories,” Steve clarifies quickly. “People like you, Irene. I give them the right voice, that’s all.”
The creak of the front door opening distracts them from the conversation and you step through the door.
“Sorry!” You chirp. “It was open and I didn’t want to disturb the interview.”
“That’s all right,” Steven says. “We’re finished up with that part.”
You nod, walking over and handing him a folder that he thanks you for before sliding it into his bag.
“This must be your infamous wife,” Irene says.
“Oh, yes,” Steven replies, sliding his hands into his pants pockets as he stands back up. “Follows me to every house. Heck, she’s half my research team…I’m the other half.”
Irene chuckles politely and you smile at him.
“Y/N,” you say to her, offering a hand.
“Irene,” she replies, taking it lightly.
Your smile is soft but bright and Steve’s mood is brought back up by your mere presence.
“Well, I hope tonight is a game changer for you,” Irene says, directing her attention back to him.
“How so?”
“Maybe my Carl will finally give you a story of your own,” she says. “You were one of his favorite writers so maybe that’s the reason…for all this.”
You easily see the pessimism rising in your husband’s eyes as he turns his gaze to the ground and sighing before answering.
“You know, I can tell you one thing about Hill House that isn’t in the book.”
“Oh, yes, please,” Irene replies, eagerly moving forward to listen more intently.
You wander around the house, eyes scanning over everything, just as Steven had done minutes prior.
“All those years trying to understand what happened in that house, you know what I never found?”
Your fingers trace over a picture frame, Carl’s photo placed behind the glass.
“A reason.”
Setting the frame back down, you ask, “Irene, may I take a look at the bedroom before he gets set up?”
“Certainly,” she says.
“Thank you.”
Once you’ve made your way up the stairs and out of earshot, Irene speaks again.
“I have to ask,” she says, making Steven look up from his notebook. "Has she ever been to-"
“No.” He replies, harsher than he meant. “No…never that house.”
It's not that he's hiding anything from you, on the contrary, you probably knew more about it than anyone who'd read the book.
And while Steven doesn't believe in ghosts, he believes in you.
After growing up with siblings who are...open to certain things, he took you in stride.
You had a particular ability to know when a place has ghosts. Similar to Theo, you could feel it.
Steven wonders if it was one of the reasons you were drawn to each other in the first place. As if you could feel the ghosts from his past haunting him.
That's why he'd never take you to Hill House, even if you asked.
Because if it was as haunted as his family swears it is, he couldn't expose you to that. It would eat you alive.
"How are your brothers and sisters doing? I wondered since the book..." Irene asks.
His phone rings. It's Nell.
"You know who I wish would write a book? Your dad."
Slightly annoyed, he declines the call.
Upstairs, your eyebrows are furrowed.
You can feel a sort of tugging in your lower belly, like it's asking you to leave the house. To follow wherever the string wants to take you.
It's not Irene's house. It's something else.
“Anything?” Steven asks, making you jump. "Sorry."
You wave a hand. "Nothing…well, not nothing. I can feel the grief in the walls, the bones are aching."
“I’m using that,” he teases, and you roll your eyes playfully.
“I have no doubt. You get your best material from me.”
Steve smiles and kisses you, warmly, and for one moment everything slips away.
His family issues, his trauma never put to rest, the haunting in the back of his mind. It all fades into the background as he takes you in.
Then his phone rings.
It's Shirley, this time, apparently Nell had called her, too.
"I know you don't need me to tell you this, but literally everything is an emergency with Nell," Steven says, adjusting his equipment.
You're sitting on Irene's bed and frown at him.
He gives you a look that reads, 'come on, you know I'm right.'
You get up and leave the room, making Steven huff.
"I know," Shirley says on the other end. "But she sounded rough."
"Shirl-"
"Rougher than usual," Shirley protested. "She said it was about Luke."
"Call Luke."
"I did, straight to voicemail."
"All right, then he sold his phone for cash, or he's still in rehab. Which means we stay out of it."
"Okay-" he sighs. "I can't deal with this right now, I'm working."
"Yeah?" Shirley says, bitterly. "You working?"
Steven stands up. "That's right, Shirl. Something else you wanna add?"
"Fine." Shirley bites. "I'll just handle it shall I? That's why everybody dumps their shit on me, isn't it, Steve? Cause I'm the oldest, it's my job."
Steven looks down, getting increasingly annoyed.
"Oh. Wait. That's you."
"Fine," Steven replies. "I'll handle-"
The dial tone rings in his ear.
"Jesus."
"Tea?"
Steven turns to Irene in the doorway, she's holding two mugs full of, obviously, tea. You're just behind her with your own mug.
"Sure," Steven says, thankful to have the distraction.
"So," she starts. "Does this stuff capture the supernatural?"
"Here we go," you say with a smile, passing Irene to take up an arm chair in the corner.
Irene gives a confused and curious look.
"Don't believe in that word," Steven supplies. "Which side of the bed do you sleep on?"
Irene points to the left and he moves his equipment accordingly before continuing.
"Talking about the word itself, supernatural," he begins. "There's natural phenomena that we understand and then there's natural phenomena that we don't."
He pops the lens cap off his camera.
"Primitive humans used to die of fright during an eclipse, they had no idea what it was. The eye of an angry god, an evil spirit."
"A sign the world was ending," you add, smiling at Irene, who seems to be growing more and more weary as Steven's explanation went on.
"Nothing supernatural about it though," he continues. "Once we understood what it was, well, it was just natural."
Steven stands up, grabbing the mug and sitting himself next to his laptop on the bed. "I prefer preternatural. Natural phenomena that we don't quite understand, yet."
"Makes him sound pretentious, doesn't it?" You ask, smirking.
Steven sends you a playful glare and Irene laughs.
"So does it capture that?"
You tend to Irene after that, taking her into her kitchen to talk about Carl as Steve gets more of his equipment from the car.
You can see him just out of the window, talking to who you suspect to be Luke's rehab center.
And then that feeling it back, that tugging. It's so distracting that it's hard for you to focus on your conversation with Irene.
Thankfully, Steve comes back in the house as a momentary distraction, allowing the feeling to dissipate if only for a second.
You throw a quick, "Got everything?" to him and replies with a "yeah!"
"Sorry," you turn back to Irene. "What were you saying?"
She leaves to stay at a friend's not long after that, trusting you and Steve to watch over her house. And, even though she didn't mention anything, you made sure to let her know you'd be sleeping in her guest room.
You did another walk through afterwards, running your hands along her walls, taking in the pictures that were hung around, the magnets on the fridge, getting a feel for who Irene was, what remnants of Carl she kept around besides his picture.
Something that could be calling him back to the house.
You found some things; an old pocket watch on a shelf, a classic car catalog on the counter. Things that someone wouldn't remember to get rid of after their owner was gone.
A picture of Irene and Carl together almost brings tears to your eyes. You can't imagine losing Steven in any way, especially not in such a horrific way as Carl...or Olivia Crain.
Having a suddent need to hug your husband, you ascend the stairs towards Irene's room.
"I told you there's no reason you and I need to talk," Steven said. "You don't just get to call me and tell me what to do."
You frown. You can't hear the response from the other end, but it's not a friendly call.
"Dad," he says and you let out a small 'ah' to yourself. ' "I'm not-"
He stops and removes the phone from his face, scoffing. "Even home right now."
You stand in the doorway as he sets the phone to the side, contemplation on his face.
"Something about Nell again?" You ask, gently.
He turns to you with a small shrug. "You know Nell."
You nod. "I do. But if you're dad's calling too, on top of Shirley-"
"Nellie's just got something in her head is all," Steven assures. "My dad can go running to her side if he wants, but there's no reason for me to upend this trip because Nell is worried about Luke."
The animosity in his voice is clear.
Steven hadn't gotten along with his family in a while, his father even longer.
You'd barely met the man, though he'd been at every wedding, including yours. You supposed Steve liked it better that way.
No need for his crazy and your crazy to mix.
As if taking your silence as permission, Steven knelt down and began setting up his laptop for the night, the infrared camera showing everything as it usually would. Orange bed, blue wall.
"I'm sure it's nothing to worry about," he said, walking over to you, taking one of your hands in his. "We'll check on her in the morning, okay?"
You sighed, brushing his hair out of his face. "Okay."
He kissed your forehead. "Let's both get some sleep. Maybe I'll see my first ghost tonight."
"Wouldn't that be something?"
Steven huffed a laugh. "Yeah, yeah it would."
You squeezed his hand. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
He let your hand drag out of his as you left the room, missing you already. And then he went to lay down.
And woke up at 12:03 a.m. with a gasp, a choking feeling in his throat.
Something that woke you, a floor down, as well.
Bleary eyed, you peered into the darkness as it adjusted, not sure why you were suddenly conscious. And gasped.
In front of you was the dark silhouette of a woman...with a crooked neck.
Nellie immediately came to mind.
You'd spoken at length with her about the "bent-neck lady" that often haunted her.
The chill that ran up your spine making you understand the fear she'd carried for the figure all these years.
Then it was gone, as if in the blink of an eye, leaving an empty room before you.
And the honking of a horn to scare you straight out of bed. You put a hand to your chest and closed your eyes.
Okay, you didn't feel anything different. No presence above you (Carl) or in front of you (bent-neck lady), just the same as before, a house working through the grief of its inhabitant.
You opened your eyes to a knock on the door and Steven came in, "Hey. The horns wake you up?"
Knowing he wouldn't want to have the conversation now, you just nodded.
What Steve didn't know couldn't hurt him.
He sat down on the bed next to you. "It wasn't anything. There's a leak in her ceiling that's dripping water. And the cars outside, well, there must've been a stop sign removed. It was all a nightmare."
"Not to her," you whispered, laying back down.
Steven sighed, laying down next to you. "I know. But isn't this explanation more peaceful? Knowing it wasn't real?"
"Maybe. Maybe not. Sometimes seeing things like that are how people work through their grief. Ask Theo about it."
He laughed at that. "Yeah, I'm sure Dr. Crain would be thrilled to teach me a lesson."
You shook you head at him, tugging on his arm when he tried to move. "Stay."
Obeying his wife, Steven laid back down and wrapped you in his arms.
Already, you felt safer. And so did he. Like when you were together it was a buffer to everything else.
Whether that was a good thing or not, well, you supposed would be answered with time.
As you suspected, Irene wasn't happy with Steve's explanation, but she understood what he was saying.
"Better than never seeing him again" really resonated and she told you as such when he was putting his equipment back in the car.
So, he signed her copy of Hill House and thanked her for her time.
The book haunted him as much as the house, it seemed. When he presented the manuscript to Shirley she'd responded with a less than polite "what the fuck, Steve."
The anger in that room had lasted for a whole week, not to mention Steve stewing on it himself for nearly that long after. He was never not going to publish it, but he'd be damned if he didn't know what it would cost him.
It effectively burned his relationship with Shirley, something that neither side had made an effort to rebuild.
"I'll write your story," Steven said to Irene. "It's a good story. I researched your house; did you know that it was used as a hospice briefly in the 60s?"
"I didn't," Irene replied, watching as Steven stood to put his coat on.
"I'd like to talk to you some more about your marriage, get some background on Carl. Who he was, who you both were. That's what matters really."
Irene looks at him with curious, almost sad eyes.
"I'll need to take some liberites," he continues. "I always do, but I promise to be respectful. He was a fan. I'll do it in a way he would've really liked."
That doesn't seem to be what Irene is concerned about, though. She says, "you really didn't see anything?"
He smiles at her sadly. He wishes he did. God, he wishes he did.
But instead, he says his goodbye, promises to call her about the interview later, and meets you outside in the car.
You'd been awfully quiet since the night before, noticably tired, like something was weighing on your mind.
"The grief in the house get to you?" Steven asks on the drive home.
"Made me think about how awful it must be," you reply. "To lose a loved one like that."
He catches the way you're talking about multiple things. The subtle hint to his mom. He admires the way you can dig into people like that, but that doesn't mean he likes it when you do it to him.
"You wanna try to call Nell?" He says, changing the subject.
You nod, pulling out your phone to press her contact and putting it on speaker.
It rings for a while and then goes to voicemail.
"Strange," you comment.
"No answer?" Steve asks.
"No. And usually she picks right up."
Steve reaches over and takes your hand. "I'm sure she's fine. You know how Nell is, she probably just missed your call and will be hitting you back any minute."
"I don't know," you mutter. "Something feels...off."
Before he got a chance to ask about that, a call from his publisher, Richard, came through.
He answered. "Hey!"
"See any ghosts?"
You almost laugh.
"I've got a title," Steve says instead. "The Leaking of Walker Roof."
"Anything useful?"
You tune the conversation out, staring at Nell's contact in your phone, wishing for it to ring.
And that tugging feeling was back, like someone was tugging on the invisible string again.
"You know what I could really sell, though?"
"Hanging up now."
You tune back in just to catch the last bit of conversation, Steve's nerves immediately on edge again.
"People wanna know where you guys are these days," Richard says.
"No way, Richard" Steve replies.
"None of your other sales ever topped Hill House," Richard says. "There's so much interest. I mean your dad, your siblings, what the hosue looks like today."
You couldn't help but wonder yourself. About the house, of course. You probably kept more up with Steven's siblings than he did.
"Eh, it looks like shit," Steve mumbles.
"It would sell," Richard says.
There's a silence.
It's so prevelant you begin to wonder if he's actually considering it.
"Not interested," he finally says.
"Just think about it? Please?"
Steven reluctantly agrees before hanging up, slotting you two back into silence for a moment.
"It's not that I don't want to," he says, suddenly. "It's just...that house. It tore my family apart. Then I tore it apart more when I published that book, I just- I can't. I can't do it again."
It's your turn to take his hand and squeeze it.
"I know," you say.
Your magic touch seems to help because he takes a deep breath and relaxes.
"I'm sorry," he says.
"For what?"
He shrugs. "Everything, I guess. That I'm so negative all the time. That I'm failing as a writer. That...that we can't have kids."
The last bit hits you.
You'd had the conversation a long time ago, before you got married, but it still was one of those things that you'd never been able to really talk about again without one of you feeling guilty or angry.
"Well, I forgive you for all those things. And I love you anyway."
By the time you guys get back to your house in L.A., it's dark and you are both tired.
You share the weight of the luggage and equipment and then freeze before you could get to the house.
Because there, standing guiltily on your front porch, was Luke.
He was holding an ipad and a camera.
"Hi Luke," Steven says, in an almost dejected, but not surprised, tone.
"Hi Steve," Luke replies. "Y/N."
You smile at him sadly. "Whatcha doing here, Luke?"
You'd only met Luke a handful of times. He was always in and out of trouble or rehab. He was one of the few siblings you hadn't been able to bond with...well, minus Shirley after the book.
"This isn't what it looks like," he says, tripping over his words and shivering.
"Are you cold?" Steve asks.
It's guilty. He knows it. But he's honest. "Yeah."
Steven sighs, setting down his share of the equipment. "I'll tell you what. I got, let's see...200 bucks here. You hand me that iPad and you can keep the cash and sell that old camera."
You don't like it. It feels like Steve's enabling him, but there's no alternative. He'd just run if you tried to take it, leave if you offered for him to stay. You'd been through it all with Luke.
Which is why the dejection and exhaustion is evident in Steve's voice. "I need the iPad. It stays here."
It's a fair bargain. One that Luke takes as he comes down the steps of your porch to stand eye-to-eye with his brother.
"I'm sorry," he says.
"I know," Steve replies.
They trade, the cash for the iPad.
"It really isn't what you think," Luke insists, eyes passing between you and Steven.
"Good."
And then he's gone.
He hands you the old camera, pockets the cash, and takes off down the street.
You and Steven watch him go.
"Believe him?" Steven asks.
"You know, somehow, I do," you reply.
"Good," he says again, picking the equipment back up and putting an arm around you. "Let's just get inside."
The door's already unlocked, Luke knew where you kept the spare key even when you moved it for the hundreth time, and Steven walks into the dark house first.
He moves to turn on a light and jumps, startled. "Thanks. I needed a good scare."
You’re frozen at the doorway, paralyzed with that sinking feeling.
“Steve,” you manage to choke out, but he doesn’t hear you; he’s engrossed in conversation with-
"Dad send you here?" You hear the clatter of him setting the bags on the floor. "I tried to tell him we weren't home. Did you bring Luke here?"
Your heart is pounding, the sound filling your ears.
"You just stood there and watched him loot me? Christ, Nell."
No. No, no, no, no, no. Not Nell. Please not Nell. You just tried to talk to her. Just that day.
"So, you hit up everybody, drag Luke out, make dad hop on a plane, make Y/N crazy with worry. Why didn't you answer your phone?"
Steven sighs at the lack of response.
"Fine." he says. "You got us all listening, what do you want? What's so damn important, Nell?"
His phone rings and your shaking, trying to move but it's like your having sleep paralysis standing up. You're frozen.
"Shit, I didn't give him the address," Steven says, answering the phone. "Hey, I tried to tell you we're-"
There's rough static on the other end and Steve's eyebrows furrow. "Dad? I can't hear you."
"Did you hear me? it's about Nell."
"I know, I just walked in and she's, uh-"
"Nell's running."
Steven huffs. "Shocking."
"She wasn't in L.A., she was at the house. She was at...the house."
Steve's eyebrows furrowed.
“She’s dead... She’s dead.”
The tears spill over your eyes before you even realized they'd been welling up.
You try to call Steven’s name again but you can’t even open your mouth before Nellie is screaming and you’re hitting the floor, the world going black.
The only sound that echoes through the house is Steven’s heavy breathing and his dad's voice echoing from his phone.
"Steve?...Steve?...Steve?"

Halloween Film Frightstival Day 16: Elvira’s Haunted Hills (2001)
Tumblr media
Okay I had to watch the Elvira sequel (for the first time, I’ve never actually seen it before!)
The Shining reference in the first five minutes, okay I get the vibe. A little more spoofy than campy this time around?
It took me a bit to get into it (and to get it), but once I realized it was supposed to be pure spoof and wholly self aware, it all made so much more sense. They dropped Elvira at her raunchiest straight into a stereotype of a midcentury horror with all the tropes and idiosyncrasies
I loved the bad voiceover for Adrian and in reading about the film it turns out the hot actor they hired was Romanian and didn’t speak English so they turned that into the joke which is exactly how a comedy should take setbacks in stride (I am also shamelessly pro sexy stablehand characters, so that’s a plus for me)
If you were a 90s/00s kid, you’ll also get slapped in the face with actors from your childhood. Mrs Benson is married to Phineas and Ferb’s dad
It’s a bit reminiscent of Monty Python, Clue, and one of my favorite films from my childhood that no one else has ever heard of The Private Eyes. It’s not exactly like any of those but it feels a little like them all. Although after an accidental wikipedia binge, I think the reason it feels like The Private Eyes is because Mistress of the Dark and Private Eyes were both distributed by New World Pictures which was also founded by Roger Corman whose Poe adaptations are the main target of Haunted Hill’s spoofs, so there’s a genetic vibe going on there I think
Ending thoughts: the shaky cam made me nauseous so I do not recommend watching the last few minutes if you’re prone to motion sickness like I am, the Titanic reference was not subtle and was hilarious, and I sincerely appreciate how Elvira’s boobs save the day every time
I also only just now realized that the title is a reference to House on Haunted Hill (a Vincent Price film, duh, I’m dumb) and also possibly a boob joke
Overall I enjoyed it – once I figured it out. I still don’t love it nearly as much as the first one and they feel like pretty much standalone films so it doesn’t really impact or add anything the original, but it’s good so long as you understand that what you’re getting into is a different vibe than the other movie

Hi Mike! I created an account just to ask you questions. I’m a huge fan, and I’m a dollar baby filmmaker, I got to adapt King’s story Cain Rose Up. So many questions I’d love to ask you about the adaptation process because from what I’ve learned it’s a tough one. But I’ll just ask this.
Have you seen any dollar baby films? And what do you think of the dollar baby program itself?
I have another question… I noticed after Gerald’s Game your work started to have a different look to it. Cinematography wise. Your work previously was always in 2.35:1 with black bars on top and bottom. Haunting of Hill House all the way to The Midnight Club has been full frame. Was this something Michael Fimognari did or was this your input?
Best of luck with your movie! I'm very familiar with the Dollar Baby program, it's a great thing, and I hope you have a great time. As far as aspect ratio, this isn't quite correct. Michael and I make that decision together project to project for any number of reasons. Oculus, Before I Wake and Hush were 2:35:1 to take advantage of the theatrical experience, but Ouija: Origin of Evil was shot anamorphic and then cropped to 1:85. This was a decision unique to that movie because we wanted to emulate the horror films of our youth. We wanted anamorphic optical quality, but a more contained aspect ratio. We had experienced a lot of horror movies on VHS when we grew up, and a lot of those were shot scope and then crammed onto VHS through a hideous process called "Pan & Scan". It created this strange dissonance where we'd see anamorphic optics in a frame that filled our television sets, so we did a variation on that. Ouija: OOE is probably the only project I'd ever consider handling that way, and it was really fun to do.
Gerald's Game is back to 2:35 again because we preferred the look when we considered Jessie's blocking in the movie (sitting up with her arms fully outstretched). It helped her fill the frame while feeling the claustrophobia of the movie. Hill House was not full frame - in fact, it was 2:00:1 and still had subtle letterboxing. We wanted to go scope but Netflix had an internal policy that wouldn't allow original programming to have an aspect ratio wider than 2:00:1, because they were scared of subscribers watching it on their devices and kicking back on any black bars (this was a very stupid decision on the behalf of Netflix, and they've since backtracked on this). That locked us in to 2:00:1 for Hill House, Bly and Midnight Mass, but that was all about Netflix's policies. I would have shot Midnight Mass scope if they'd allowed us to. With Doctor Sleep, we opted to shoot 1:85 because that's what The Shining was, and strange as it sounds, we wanted them to work together as a double feature. Midnight Club actually employs a lot of different aspect ratios. By this time, Netflix had done away with their dumb aspect ratio rule, and we were free. So we opted to shoot 1:85 for the "A Story" of Midnight Club, so the world felt more ordinary and real, and so younger viewers would have their devices' screens filled. But for the "B stories" that the club members tell each other, we use a ton of different ratios. 2:35, 2:00, even 4:3. For The Fall of the House of Usher, we went back to 2:35. It has a very gothic theatrical feeling throughout. So there you have it - every project is different and we have a thoughtful conversation about what the right aspect ratio will be. There's really no overarching rule at all, now that Netflix's policy has changed. FWIW, Hill House wanted very much to be 2:35. They were wrong to jam us on that.

Hi! Referencing your post a while back about how killing eve would have been loved more on tumblr if it was about men, I totally agree. I was wondering if you had any recs that were about lesbians (or at least women) that were similar in genre to the “dark” shows like KE, Hannibal, supernatural, etc? I’ve been looking for a long time (and like u said in your post and the comments) it’s really disappointing how little there is. I will take any crumbs possible lol
I do have one recommendation, im not sure if you have seen it but it’s a tv show called van helsing. It was on SyFy for a while and there’s a canon wlw couple/main character in it, but I haven’t finished watching the show
Ohhhh my god yes!! So sorry i just saw this ask… if you like Hannibal i’m BEGGING you to watch Yellowjackets. It’s got lesbians, angst, CANNIBALISM!! it’s amazing. I also recommend The Wilds, I am not Okay With This, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Haunting of Hill House, and the Haunting of Bly Manor. That’s all i can think of off the top of my head! Let me know if you’d like movies as well 🤗
As for Van Helsing, i haven’t seen it but i’ll have to check it out, thank you so much!
Hope this was helpful 💕

New chapter of Time’s Arrow, “Good luck, babe! You’d have to stop the world just to stop the feeling” is up! Everyone say “thank you, concussion.” (Don’t actually. It sucks.) THIS CHAPTER IS PARTICULARLY ROUGH. PLEASE READ THE WARNINGS CAREFULLY AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
As always, here are the extras!
- The lyrics for this chapter’s title are from “Good Luck, Babe!” By Chappell Roan! I think it is pretty self explanatory, haha.
- The songs for this chapter are “A Deer Mistaking Candles for Headlights” by Crywank, “Racehorse: Get Married!” By Jordaan Mason, “bad idea!” By girl in red, “Gross” by Penelope Scott, “maggot belly” by awfultune, “Lavender” by Penelope Scott, “Personal” by Stars, “Little Soldiers” by The Crane Wives, “Butch 4 Butch” by Rio Romeo, and, of course, “Good Luck, Babe!” By Chappell Roan!
- “ “Go! Class starts in…” he leaned away, squinting hard at the clock on the wall just outside the kitchen. “… some.. amount of time.” “… I need to take you to the optometrist.” The teen opened the door and went to step outside, ignoring the demon’s ‘huh?’.” - Beetlejuice’s eyesight suuuuucks. They’ve never been to an eye doctor, or even heard of one. They really need glasses. Perhaps they will get some soon!
- “The very thought of the feeling of food in his mouth, of the savory and salty tastes and mushy textures overwhelming his senses made his stomach turn. But the tug at his non-functional heart strings at the image of Barbara’s disheartened expression was stronger, more painful.” - Not the best motivation to eat, but honestly, any motivation can be good motivation when you’re having trouble getting yourself to eat!
- “Did anyone see you? You barely pass as human, and you’re a stranger in this town. Did anyone bother you? Are you alright?” “Geez, Chuck, when-” “Where have you been?! Do you know how late it is, young man?” - Get parent-ed, idiot!
- “‘Young man’? I am neither of those.” - This is a cheeky reference to a similar joke in “Good Omens”!
- “… English isn’t my best language.” “What others do you know?” “.. let’s put a pin in that convo, D-Dog. Your energy is distracting in the best way.” “Aww, thank you!” - a little peak at Beej and Delia’s friendship. I will probably expand more on it if I ever write the extra chapters!
- “Charles furrowed his brows. “Where did you get that laptop?” ” … “… where did you get that one?” - He stole them.
- “ “The what?” Charles sat up straight, brows knit in… concern? Beetlejuice wasn’t sure.” - he is not used to parental concern! Get cared about, fool!
- “… ‘Surely the average White River townie will be petrified by your demonic beauty!’” He chuckled to himself. He thought perhaps he imagined Barbara, Adam, and Delia laughing as well. “First of all, thank you, you’re too kind.” ” - A little peep at the smug, braggy little guy he used to be! And yes, they did laugh at his joke in agreement. He just doesn’t want to hear it because he can’t accept love.
- “Semi-tamed curly hair, now brown with irritating grey streaks he couldn’t get rid of. Manic honey-brown eyes instead of yellow serpentine ones, blemishes on his face instead of moss. Skin now pink, but still pale.” - yeah, basically just Alex Brightman, just with brown, curly hair. Surprise!
- “…wrist-length black driving gloves to cover his blackened fingertips.” - This, along with a line later on, is heavily inspired by the character Theo from “The Haunting of Hill House”. See if you can spot it! She similarly is very sensitive, and wears gloves to avoid direct physical contact with others.
- “They hate it. Fuck. Maybe next-day delivery holy water is still an option?” - ABSOLUTELY NOT
- “They look like a substitute teacher.” - Dewey Finn reference! I see a lot of Beetlejuice fans talking about the “School of Rock” musical. I’ve only seen the movie, and I love it. Should I give it a listen?
- “ “They look… nice.” Adam’s cheeks were flushed a dark pink. Barbara let out a delighted giggle as she rubbed her hands over his facial hair. “What a professional little man!” ” - They think he is so handsome. Barbara cannot control her cuteness aggression.
- “Lydia, pumpkin, I don’t want the people of this town thinking of me as a scoundrel. He obviously is too old to be E-.. Emily’s son.” - He’s trying his best to keep Emily relevant and talked about!! It’s just a bit hard still. Also, yeah, no one would really believe the man with greying hair was spawned from Charles and Emily.
- “He hadn’t been opposed to people thinking he was his son.” - he has never been called someone’s son in a positive way! New experience unlocked!
- “He was… happy. Light. Warm. He felt like he could rip apart a car with his teeth.” - like yours truly, Beetlejuice gets the urge to bite and rip things apart with his teeth when he is excited.
- “ “… I’ll tell folks I’m a distant Maitland relative. Maybe a cousin!” Beetlejuice grabbed Lydia’s arm, going to pull her out the door, missing the way Adam and Barbara wrinkled their noses at the word ‘cousin’.” - I wonder why they were so opposed to him being called a cousin? Hmmm.
- “Beetlejuice slides the Book across the counter and holds out a pen. “Have you heard about our Loyalty Program?” ” - what a weird, suspicious insistence he has. I wonder why that ‘Book’ is capitalized. Surely that must be an error? ;)
- “He bolts off, excusing that he needs to go find Percy and put him in ‘extreme air jail’.” - ‘Extreme air jail’ is when he floats off the ground while holding Percy up. Like regular air jail, but extreme.
- “Aftershave. Tung oil. Black tea. Tea-tree oil and nicotine.” - the smells, respectively, are from Charles, Adam, Barbara, and Delia! Delia smells like her vape pen a bit.
- “Lydia released the demon’s hands, slowly stepping behind them. “I’m behind you, alright? I’m gonna take your blindfold off.” ” - Lydia educated herself on his triggers and is careful not to come up behind him/touch his back or chest without letting him know first!
- “The walls had a familiar striped wallpaper applied to them..” - they recreated the striped walls from when Beej took over the house!
- “… pocketed figurines of various horror characters and stupid-looking colorful monsters. (Adam had called them “pokay-men”?)” - Beetlejuice stole a bunch of Pokémon funko pops without knowing anything about them, except that Adam likes them.
- Two “Lisa Frankenstein” references! The poster, as well as the name of a character later.
- “The ceiling was lined with familiar gentle string lights, the bulbs giving off a soft yellow glow.” - gentle lighting for his sensitive eyes, courtesy of Adam and Barbara! He never really turns on the overhead lights.
- “A large, fuzzy, purple rug covered most of the hard concrete floor.” - Delia picked this out for him! She knows how much he loves Floor Time.
- “… seemingly home-made black and white quilt..” - Barbara made it herself!
- “.. and a rotund black cat plush Lydia had ordered off of Amazon and claimed was for herself.” - it is a squishmallow. Beej still has no idea what they are, but Lyds got one just for him!
- “.. even a rocking chair covered in a bright green fleece blanket in the corner-” - Charles picked out that blanket after seeing how much Beetlejuice enjoyed the fleece blanket on the guest bed!
- “Like Dad said, you deserve your own space, big guy.” - ‘Dad’ is capitalized like that because Lydia considers Charles both her and Beej’s dad now.
- “They still aren’t sure what to do, way later that night, as they lie in their very own bed for the first time. They’d never had a space of their own.” - yeah, he’s never had his own bed. Or room. He mostly slept on the floor growing up, sometimes under a stove!
- “.. as he stared up at the multitude of gently glowing green stars plastered on the ceiling.” - Delia heard that his name is based on a star, so she got these and carefully plotted them out to match the real night sky/constellations!
- “ “I was only thirteen, Beetlejuice.” … “I dunno, Sexy. Arson is a pretty mild form of revenge. I was doin’ a lot worse for a lot less at that age.” ” - Beetlejuice had suggested that Adam should’ve set a bully’s backpack on fire.
- “And you don’t wanna put your weapon up against your victim’s back. Makes it real easy for them to just take it from ya.” - This is true! A little bit of self defense advice!
- “Do you get all your mugging tools at Home Depot? God/Satan, you’re butch.” And “My tit!” - These are both “Jennifer’s Body” references. I couldn’t help myself.
- “… red sleeveless sweater, frowning at the blood-stained button-up underneath. “My.. good friend gave me this stupid, tacky sweater vest…” ” - Yeah he dresses like his human disguise like Dewey Finn because of Adam.
- “It was tacky and itchy and smelled like mothballs, but it was still something one of his favorite ghosts had given him.” - Beetlejuice savors every single thing given to him, because no one really ever gave him presents before.
- “Don’t say Barbara, don’t say Barbara- “Ba-.. Bab… Babette.” What the fuck was that? Babette? “Yeah. Babette… ” ” - Of course, the town remembers Adam and Barbara, so he has to call them by other names. ‘Babette’ is what he thought of on the spot.
- Suprise! Ash is Sky the Girl Scout’s sister! Her full name is “Ashlyn Swallows”, but she only wants to go by “Ash”.
- “Fuuuuck.” … “ “.. damn. That… that, uh… poor girl..” Fuck, the Maitlands and Charles and Delia are going to be so mad when they hear about this.” - Asshole Beej, my beloved. He only cares about his own humans, and not at all how he impacts anyone outside his circle.
- “…and a fair wage from my own pocket.” - So the business doesn’t suffer from the absurd amount of money he is going to pay this kid.
- “Beetlejuice’s ear flicked at the sound of her heartbeat quickening, the jewelry clinking irritably.” - Yeah he hates the jewelry, but he had a hard time saying ‘no’ to Cyrus’ gifts.
- “… yeah. I didn’t realize she’d remember, though.” - Hmm. I wonder if anyone else remembers things that occurred during the loop?
- “… and Barbara enjoyed the occasional sniff of his glass.” - Since she can’t drink the wine, Beetlejuice is letting her smell it instead. Not the same, but it’s still nice!
- “Barbara was sat right up next to him on the couch, leaning on his side and keeping an arm loosely around his midsection.” … “They try their best not to melt at Barbara’s touch as she starts to gently scratch at their chin.” … “His ears went back at the delighted little squeak from Barbara, but he relaxed as she wrapped her arms around him and tightly squeezed. “There he is!” Beetlejuice felt his tail quivering as he wrapped one arm around her in turn. “Yeah, yeah, I know, I’m the most handsome devil you’ve ever seen.” The ghost softly huffed. “It’s true!” ” - Barbara is laying it on THICK. Too bad Beetlejuice’s skull is thicker!
- “.. the demon jumped as Delia leaned in close, scrunching up his nose at the smell of wine on her breath, the sudden increase in all of the sounds of her body functioning. Lungs expanding, blood flowing, joints creaking. It was much harder to ignore when she was that close.” - Beej is constantly overwhelmed by the noises everything makes, especially since he’s not taking care of his sensory needs.
- “The demon slowly let out a breath once Delia leaned back into her place again, his grip on Barbara tightening. Why was it so hard to allow humans to be close?” - BECAUSE HE DOESN’T PAY ATTENTION TO HIS SENSORY NEEDS. And also people suck sometimes.
- “He glanced down at the ghost, hurriedly looking away and taking a swig of his wine when he found her staring up at him with a soft, fond look in her eyes.” - Oh, he’s big stupid. Thankfully, Barbara likes her men just a wee bit stupid.
- “Beetlejuice slurred, finishing off his glass. He went to release Barbara and reach out to refill it, but she gripped onto him tighter.” … “He felt the wine glass be tugged from his grip.” - Barbara decided he had enough, and is gently cutting him off here.
- “(If anything, at least the alcohol was dulling the horrid sounds of the house settling, of the wind blowing and clouds churning, of the distant call of the cicadas. He could no longer feel how tight the stupid dress shirt was, feel his own teeth sitting in his skull. It was nice. Perhaps he should drink more often.)” - unfortunately, a staggering amount of adults with autism use alcoholism to cope with symptoms they have yet to learn how to properly cope with, and to help them better socialize.
- “Just like there’s some stupid part of me that’ll always hope my Ma will turn herself around and start carin’ about me.” - AUGH. The anguish of having abusive parents. Some stupid hard-wired part of your brain is always hopeful they’ll just decide to be good one day.
- “… kids are great like that. They’re made with this…. Hard wired love for their parents.” … “I always thought.. it would be great to take all the love I had saved up for her, all the love she never returned, and… pass it on.” - HE JUST WANTS TO LOVE AND BE LOVED SO BAD OKAY?? I’m not crying you are
- “He titled his head back a bit to look at Adam, in his pajamas, without his glasses, staring the demon down with the most sorrowful expression he’d ever seen on a human being. It hurts worse than the ritual, worse than the glass window, worse than centuries of solitude. This is all you do, Lawrence. You hurt others, and you hurt yourself. His mother’s voice is always in the back of his mind, but it’s so clear now.” - Adam is feeling sympathy and/or empathy, like a normal person, but Beej is taking it as him hurting Adam by being the way that he is.
- “ “B-but they… I could never…” The Maitlands hold him tightly. Barbara gently shushes him, running her fingers through his hair. He didn’t have to finish. She knew. They shared that pain, together. They’d had a long, tearful conversation one night, during their year in the loop. It was the closest he’d ever felt to human, even considering the times he was actually human.” - I will leave this up to interpretation within the confines of Time’s Arrow. I may expand upon it in one of the extra chapters, maybe write out the conversation they had, but for now I will allow readers to come to their own conclusions, since this breaches topics I am currently not fully equipped/educated to write about.
- “ “Maybe you can distribute that love elsewhere.” It wasn’t too bad an idea. But where?” - Delia is suggesting to turn that love inwards, and to maybe also distribute it to Lydia and the Maitlands. But Beej is daft.
- “ “Pink’s a great color on you,” Delia says, patting his cheek before she turns to head back towards the living room. He couldn’t disagree more.” - YOU DESERVE LOVE. CARE IS A GOOD LOOK ON YOU. Oh god he isn’t listening.
- “Sleep finally finds them. They aren’t sure how they made it down into their room, or how they were able to change into a cozy sweatshirt and pair of loose-fitting boxer shorts. But somehow, they did.” - Adam and Barbara carefully and very respectfully helped him change!
- “As they took a wary little sip of the old, undiluted wine,” - Greek wine from waaay back when had to be diluted. Undiluted, it is way too strong and bitter.
- “ “Beetlejuice, when was the last time you drank water?” .. “I had a Dr. Pepper last week.” .. “Who gave you a Dr. Pepper?” “Wh- I’m a grown demon! I can get myself a Dr. Pepper!” Lydia raised an eyebrow at him. He scoffed, looking down at the counter. “Fine. Ash did.” ” - this is both based on a bit from Game Grumps and also a conversation I had with a friend.
- “For that hour before the two of them had to leave, Beetlejuice instead listened. At first it was frantic, confused. Then the conversation was light and breezy. Teasing, joking, excitedly comparing interests. He knew he had to make them meet from the moment Ash mentioned cinematography. Neither of them had many friends other than him, from what he’d heard. And he was sure Ash didn’t consider him a friend regardless. I’m a genius.” - My guy thinks he is the master of meet-cutes. He needs to meet-cut it out and go to therapy. (Next chapter can’t come soon enough…)
- “Their tongue and throat burned with the remains of that horrible sticky, iron taste.” … “Energy, revitalized from this latest sacrifice, buzzed through their whole being..” - Yeah he is accepting sacrifices of human blood from Cyrus’ cult. That is how he is getting the energy and strength to resist the Seal.
- “They desperately grasp Cyrus’ hands. They fumble, head burning and spinning, as they guide his hands to their throat. The demon quirks an eyebrow at them curiously. “Hurt me,” they rasp, their words almost slurring together. “Hurt me like you did before.” ” - DRUNKEN CONSENT IS NOT REAL CONSENT!! Allowing someone to hurt you is not an adequate way to deal with your issues!!
- “As you wish, Pet.” - Sorry I twisted a line from a beloved romance story and made it fucked up. It will not happen again. (It might)
Fun tidbit for making it this far! Here are some TikToks that summarize Ash and Beej’s “friendship”! This, this, and this!

TVGATE 📺💖
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1.) Glee- Ryan Murphy is my enemy and glee is unhinged but it is hands down my FAVORITE show of all time. I started watching it when I was in 8th grade and the chokehold it has on me to this day is unreal. Season one was lighting in a bottle and to follow it up with an even better season after that? Lea Michelle is also my enemy BUT s1 Rachel berry is so fucking funny. Glee is the reason I joined chorus in high school- like the impact glee has on me? Incredible. Just 10/10. I could say more but we will be here all fucking day. And ofc Santana is my favorite character and I hope Naya is resting easy right now 💖
2.) Sucession- This show ate my ass for weeks and the brain rot after I finished it is still going strong. I avoided this show for a minute bc hearing about it through osmosis was enough and the fans put me off. I started about a month or two after the finale dropped. Like fuck rich people and fuck most of these characters but goddamn do I love it. I blew through this show so quick bc the acting??? The dialogue! THE EVERYTHING 🥵👏 you just know that if there’s a party or a dinner or some kind of rich people bullshit event that it will be the most compelling shit you’ve ever seen. Boar on the Floor was so sadistic and evil and FASCINATING. Like- I wanna open these people up and examine them. I was a Kendall girlie during my watch and a Shiv girlie post-show. I will say if you wanna enjoy this show just avoid.. most men’s opinions on it. I’ve heard the most shit takes on this show it’s ridiculous. It definitely lives up to the hype.
3.) Lovesick- Guys 🥺 if you’re gonna watch anything from this list watch this. I watched it when I was on a huge Netflix deep cut kick and WOW. Very lighthearted and funny romcom about a dude that finds out he has chlamydia and goes down the list of his old partners to tell them they need to get checked. All of these characters are so lovely and you just wanna root for them. It only loses points because it’s unfinished. I would’ve loved to see where things go for Dylan and Evie 🤧
4.) The Haunting of Bly Manor- INCREDIBLE. Mike Flannigan puts his whole pussy into into everything he makes. The write is incredible, the mystery is so well thought out. Every loose end is tied up just enough to let the viewer still have room to speculate. Definitely not scary in the way that Hill House is but everything else makes up for that. The cast??? I fucking love Rahul Kohli and I’ve loved that man since iZombie. Victoria Pedretti is the love of my life and the way she plays Dani? The range she has to go from Nell in Hill House to Dani is so sick. I just adore her. And of course T’Nia Miller as Hannah? She’s the clear standout. I need to see her in everything I’m BEGGING. The Hannah episode is truly the best episode of the entire season. This is a tragedy through and through and your heart will break for every single one of these characters. Just a gorgeous piece of television 💖
5.) Euphoria (Season One + Specials)- Again, Sam Levinson is my enemy but goddamn is season one SO GOOD. The aesthetics, the acting, the characters, the cinematography!? When Sam has a passion project and a story in mind he can truly make magic. Also putting Zendaya on your vision board and then actually landing her to be in it is so dope. The Trials and Tribulations of Trying to Pee While Depressed aka S1Ep7 is my favorite episode by FAR. So real, so funny, so compelling. Everyone showed up to set that week to make MAGIC. I don’t make a ton of fanart but euphoria had my ass so hooked that all I wanted to do was draw Rue and I sure as hell did. I was looping All for us for MONTHS. It’s still the #1 song on my Spotify TO THIS DAY. The special episodes during Covid were also so well done. Season 2 is dog shit so it isn’t included in this but rip to Angus Cloud because he was so special and the clear highlight of season 2 as Fez. (I could watch him beat up Nate Jacobs all day 🥳)
A huge honorable mention for the shows A Young Doctor’s Notebook, Chewing Gum, & The Bear (s1) because holy shit 💖. The first 2 are both absurd comedies from my Netflix deep cut era.
AYDNC stars Daniel Radcliffe as this doctor that gets addicted to morphine in the backwoods of 20th century Russia. It’s a dark comedy and a wild ride. I only watched it once and I have no idea if it’s still on Netflix or not but if you have nothing to watch and you want something that’s pretty out there or you’re a fan of Daniel’s comedic acting you’re in for a TREAT.
Chewing Gum stars Michaela Coel as Tracey. So 👏 Fucking 👏 Funny. The writing is incredible and I can’t speak highly enough about the way Michaela drops you into the world for a wild ride. Tracey’s pretty much in the end of that awkward transition period between your teens and adulthood. Just a really hilarious coming of age story that DEFINITELY would’ve benefited from a true final season. If you like Michaela Coel you will like this. She also has a show called I May Destroy You and I can’t wait to sit down and watch it. I’ve heard all good things 💖
The Bear is way newer and s2 didn’t drop that long ago so I won’t go too in-depth about it like everything else but INCREDIBLE SHOW. If you like food and sad white men and just- EVERYTHING about Ayo Edebiri then you’ll love this. Season 2 isn’t my favorite but Season One?? This show makes me miss living in a city. I just 💖💖 I can’t recommend it enough. Jeremy Allen White’s arms are reason alone to watch. I’d let that man [redacted] my [redacted] for hours like he makes me UNWELL he’s so gorgeous.

howdy cock i just saw your horror movie post :)) i’m curious how you feel about nope since you have both get out and us on your list? i’ve only seen nope and i liked it so much i’ve been meaning to watch his other stuff for ages. also i watched a movie the other night called grave encounters and it was surprisingly good?? it very much gave me blair witch style vibes so i feel like i should mention it since that’s also on your list. it’s funny i was literally just recommending and talking about horror movies with my friend earlier. do you have a particular category or sub genre that you generally prefer? because it seems like your taste is pretty varied.
hey piss shark <3 I haven't seen nope yet BUT it is on my list for Halloween. I do have a varied list I suppose, i'm a big horror fan since I was little. I love all kinds, except for campy horror. If it's supposed to be funny I'm not really a fan. BUT if it SUCKS and its supposed to be good? I love that. Making fun of shit horror movies is my favorite thing ever with friends.
But If I really had to pick a genre, It'll be psychological. Even non-horror I really love some mind games. I have so much I didn't add to that list. Like Haunting of Hill House, to me the uncanny valley stuff really freaks me out. The first episode fucked me up I was hooked. I'm also horrified of mannequins. When I played Fallout 4 I was indeed shitting myself, same with Resident Evil Biohazard, Layers of Fear 2.
OH!! I have thalassophobia AND submechanophobia... guess my favorite game ever? Yeah it's a horror underwater game called Subnautica.
All my fears are some of my favorite genres apparently.
