ALRIGHT I'm putting the brakes on everything, because today is my anniversary with Wreck-it Ralph!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I just woke up so I'm gonna try my best to be coherent -w- I added Ralph to my list three years ago in one of my favorite ways I've ended up falling for an f/o: after an internet outage at home, I was bored and needed something to watch so I put on the movie after not watching it for years, and it took me an hour into the movie to realize I totally adored Ralph 🥺💖🥺💖🥺 And how could I not?! He's cute and charming, silly but still serious when needed, not the brightest but nowhere near an idiot, and most importantly, he has the biggest, kindest heart and is dedicated to protecting those he loves. I know I don't talk about him much but he is legit one of the f/os closest to my heart and I just know my list would feel much emptier without him 🥺🥺🥺 Happy anniversary my Ralphie baby!!!! 🥺❤️🥺❤️🥺❤️🥺❤️🥺❤️🥺❤️

i slept so here's a more cohesive post about my thoughts and feelings for the movie.

im going to start by saying that I'm caught up with the manga. i knew all the plot points. i also looked up every spoiler known to man in the period between april-now. watched every clip' read extensive spoilery reviews. i was kind of afraid i already knew everything to know about the movie and it could hinder my enjoyment.

well. nothing could've prepared me for that.

the movie felt like it was split in 2 parts; the first 50 minutes, about adachi and kurosawa and the rest of 50 minutes about adachi kurosawa and the people around them. and man was it such a beautiful approach.

i honestly don't know what to praise first. the movie just kept leaving me in awe scene after scene because how did they manage to do so much in so little time without it feeling rushed?

the 2nd half is especially my favorite. them moving in together —to adachi's small apartment, you know, the one far from work—, getting glimpses of their domestic life (the chore board broke me), when adachi realized kurosawa 'wasnt a morning person', kurosawa just being kurosawa and making me laugh my lungs out.

but what broke me, what left me in shambles, what had me falling on my knees in the supermarket was adachi's new goal. 'i need to work hard so i can become indispensable —like you— so we can't be separated at work when we come out' like WHAT. how do you expect me to recover from that. and then talk about how their relationship not being recognized puts them at risk of not knowing what could happen to the other in the case of an accident? ouch.

i also really liked how the movie focused on something the drama didn't have much time to— adachi becoming even more confident in their relationship and kurosawa more open and vulnerable.

as far as the manga goes the conflicts and plot points are pretty similar which delighted me because the volumes adapted (6-8) were some of my favorites. one major change was that when kurosawa tried to hide from adachi that his mom disapproved of them they got into a big argument — granted manga kurosawa lied about it in order to hide it. i really liked the movie's more peaceful approach because it fits the drama's characters more. manga kurodachi are a little wilder in a lot of aspects so it made sense for them to fight.

also a silly little change i noticed is that they sidelined kazuya (adachi's brother) to focus on adachi's dad and tbh i knew it wouldn't translate well in a short setting such as that scene but i need everyone to know that kazuya in the manga is so suspicious of kurosawa. not in a homophobic way but in a funny 'what is an attractive person doing with my brother' way. anyway the scene was still funny but. i wish he had the opportunity to be the real hater he is.

Theres been so many deaths around me that hearing about someone I knew dying doesnt affect me as much. Its just part of life. I’m sad that they’re not around anymore, and I’ll miss them very much. But its just a part of living. 83. Fallen for a friend: Yeah... x3 DO YOU BELIEVE IN: 84. Yourself: Yeah, if I dont believe in myself who will. 85. Miracles: Depends on what is meant by miracle. I believe in multiple efforts made by everyone to make something happen, over something like divine intervention. But regardless yes, I do believe miracles can happen. 86. Love at first sight: Although its very rare and not likely to work out, I do like to believe that it can happen between people that live in the moment. 87. Santa Claus: Of course! Not in the concept of the old man spreading gifts across the world in those who believe in him, but more on the idea that if you’re good and behave all year long, a day where you get rewarded for all that effort exists. 88. Kiss on the first date: If the date went well and the mood is right, I dont see a problem with receiving/giving a kiss. But its not something that should be expected as a standard.
