Dreadwolf leak thoughts and predictions under the cut. Spoilers ahoy, so take care!
so I'm sure absolutely none of these are original thoughts and that's ok, but I want to work through some that I've had about what we know of Dreadwolf so far anyway
First of all, I'm definitely in camp Rook Is The Protagonist. The Red Book that the devs have occassionally teased in the past had a rook and a wolf head on it, so...yeah I think its safe to say that's our new player character. I don't think it'll be their real name, not in a Hawke type situation at least, but more along the lines of being a code name similar to Leliana's agents in the Inquisition. Like how Charter's real name isn't Charter, we'll be Rook.
I also don't think that the classes are getting replaced like some folks are thinking. At least, I hope not. Sure, Tevinter = Mages, Wardens = Warriors, and Crows = Rogues would make sense in a broad sense but it'd be a bit lame. And we know, after all, that the Wardens have all within their ranks and Last Flight introduced a Crow who was also a mage. Meanwhile I feel like it would be interesting to be able to explore an Origin from Tevinter that doesn't revolve around us necessarily being either an Altus or Laetan. And then there's the mysterious 4th faction as well, who are potentially the Veil Jumpers.
Anyway, forcing you to play as a Warrior if you want to be a Warden would be lame imo but I think I'd be able to come around to the idea if that ends up being the case.
I've also seen a couple people being dismayed that we allegedly have one central hub but like...that's been every game so far lmao?? Origins had the camp, Awakening had Vigil's Keep, 2 was a little irregular but I think the Hawke Estate counts, and Inquisition had Haven/Skyhold. Those were all main hubs, you know?
I'm also personally chill with the game being more of a hack and slash rpg though I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea. I like God of War and the Witcher series though so I'm willing to give Dreadwolf the benefit of the doubt that it'll still be a fun experience. It's fair if people are dismayed by the news, though. My wife is absolutely not a fan of playing that genre.

A quick writing thing that came to mind while playing Skyrim. I have given this character I ridiculous amount of thought, angst, and just a lot more than you should ever give your Skyrim character.
"I should stop going into cairns," Varimor sighed, knowing full well nobody was around. "It's just a sword, Vari! Just a sword. You've fought enough Forsworn for now, you don't need the sword."
She sat on the steps of the Sundered Towers, "The Legend of Blood Eagle" open in her lap. She took another bite of her apple, her eyes on the sky above.
When was the last time entering a cairn had gone well? By the Divines, she barely escaped Elder's Cairn with her life! (Was she ever going to go back and kill that ghost? Probably not.)
She chuckled at her misery. She was a terrible adventurer! Who takes on a dragon with swords? She did! Nobody should do that. Nobody should have to fight dragons, but she had four under her belt by this point. She had kept count of a lot of things, like places she cleared out (18) and places she had found (146). 73 undead, a number she was planning on upping as soon as she finished dealing with the dragon situation. Maybe she should join the Dawngaurd....
Now, that was a fun thought.
She remembered that guard, she called him Kel, and the conversation they had that day.
"Heard they're reforming the Dawnguard. Vampire hunters or something, in the old fort near Riften. Might consider joining up myself."
"I was going to do the same myself, if it weren't for these damn dragons. It'd be a nicer place to stay than..." she gestured to Silent Moon's Camp in the distance.
Kel laughed, having his own home where she often slept when she was in Whiterun. The sounds of an empty noon were drowned out by the two of them, eating lunch together like any two sweethearts would.
"Tell you what: When those winged beasts are gone, we'll join them together. How's that sound?" She smiled a lizard smile, chewing on a raw leek.
"Sounds good to me," he chuckled, blue eyes shining with hope for a glorious future.
They laughed together before he got back up, back to his shift, and she left with a wave goodbye.
And she ran back, back a week later, running straight to his post.
And she ran back, back to a sight she had prayed she wouldn't see.
And she ran right into the battle, helping the guards outside, crying out for her Kel.
And she killed the bandits, each and every one of them, hacking and slashing her way to him.
And she found him, nearly dead, just in time to say exchange final goodbyes.
And she sat there, his body in her arms as she sat on her knees, covered in blood.
The second tragedy she remembered ever so clearly, her dearest gone before they could have done anything.
And the first......
Her frozen state was interrupted by a passing bird screeching. She slammed the book shut, gasping out of shock.
Right, off to Rebel's Cairn. Every woman had her way of mourning, and this was hers.
