Riveting start

I'll start off with little drawings I made of myself. And my god do you see what I'm doing with the anatomy? Do you see how tiny those joints are? That's horrific. Why did I build everyone like that? But Yugo is where I began to find my art style. Will love them forever for that. I've got to go back to simple-shaped heads one of these days and blush/eyelashes on everything

We've got some lovely Smile For Me-related doodles. First is a Flower Kid design. Second was not smile for me specifically, but Face Love (by the same devs). And the last two were my earlier attempts at making comics and scenes. Ft. lancer for some reason.

Here are a couple of abandoned OCs. Pretty boy (Basil) is supposed to be yellow. We've all had that OC whose only trait was being a hot person and that's what he was all about. Didn't develop him much in terms of character which is sad because I kinda like his design. He was created when I was doodling random designs in FireAlpaca. I'll have to show the other doodles in a different post (If you are interested).

THIS GUY I WOULD LIKE TO BRING BACK! Might be kinda basic in terms of like "Weird Core" designs but I still love him. His plot keeps changing though because his design is so strange yet so simple to the point where I could put him in just about any world I wanted to had I gotten bored of the old one. Which is silly bc he's just a depressed news anchor man.

Anyway bc of that, Basil used to be his bf, but isn't anymore. He got replaced with fat peppermint man who fun fact: was inspired by the song Brass Goggles BEFORE I even got into SPG and learned what it was about! How silly is that! Peppermint boy is technically my first SPG OC!

She was a fun one, but I abandoned her too. I think she was too influenced by Frye's character from Splatoon. She was a warrior of sorts. Sort of tribal I suppose. She spoke fast, and in her tribe's language, so many people struggled to understand her. She was very bouncy too. Jumping all over the place. If you know Frye, you'll probably notice that they're a bit too similar to each other. That's usually why I abandon my OCs. When they're too similar to another.

Don't ask me about the first guy. The girl was a mii that was born in Tomodachi Life! Her name is Lily. She is the child of Kris (Deltarune) and Hatsune Miku. She looks silly which is why I love her.

I'm Picasso. Kinda vibe with this ngl. Not sure if I could ever turn this into anything though

Here are some low-effort doodles. Enjoyed the design of the big lady more than I thought. I was practicing drawing bigger bodies at the time. Joints are still KILLING ME but it's not bad considering I had the worst anatomy method imaginable

Here are some higher-effort doodles. Aside from the abhorrent anatomy (WHY DOES THE PIG ZOMBIE HAVE TWO DIFFERENTLY SIZED SHOULDERSS????) I quite like these critters. That mermaid girl had lore too. She could control the dead of the sea. She was lowkey evil. Never turned her into anything though. Also, you can see by that guy at the bottom of the first one, that Bunny's art was starting to take an influence on me.

More thingies! There's the goopy robot which I initially drew as a first attempt at drawing a robot, but then I made it black and goopy bc that's what it was giving. The star guy appears and disappears a few times. I think I wanted to keep them, but the design was very similar to LightLazer so I felt a bit weird about drawing them.

More robot shenanigans. First time drawing Rabbit and The Spine! Cannot believe that my first Spine drawing was in a dress oh my god.

More Bunny-inspired drawings and I'm REALLY kinda digging that weird tiny robot critter. Looking at it now, it's kinda like Spring in a few ways, but it's also completely different from Spring in so many other ways. The limbs are retractable. I kinda like this thing actually. I Oughtta do something with it.

These ones are more SPG-specific. You'll have to forgive me, most of these are from memory. Don't ask me why Rabbit looks like David Bowie in the first one.

And finally, some Rabbit and Spine doodles! Rabbit's doing the "Hey Andy Sweetie" meme. I could totally reattempt drawing that today actually.

Hiii ! I have a new Mii to share !

Her name is Nour Le Fox, aka Nour 3000 ~~

Okay then... I decided to present a Mii that I've used for a long time and in several games. I think Nour is the best example of how I reuse Miis. So I'll present her through her history :

Nour has be created because I had to make a Mii wearing the Tails Costume in Super Smash Bros Ultimate! I think it's a fun way to use Mii Costumes on this game. That's why her color palette is Orange and Blue : it's Tails' one. And she was made to be a Tails alter-ego, a shy nerdy optimistic guy. (a bit cliché, that's why her name was Geek 3000 at the first place)

I've created a lot of Mii just to wear Costumes in Smash but this one... this one was particular, I LOVED her !

So I decide to reuse her in my second Miitopia Switch adventure ! And she was litteraly the best character !

Her enthusiastic personality made her really likeable. She became friends with everyone. The scientist from my previous adventure was cocky and fierce and Nour is truly the opposite of that! It was so refreshing ~~

She had a really funny dynamic with Junji Star (the purple one) where he seemed to be fascinated by her, even though he was very egocentric.

I never finished this adventure and it makes me sad because I know that I would have loved to follow Nour until the End.

The last time I played with her was in my last Tomodachi Life Island !Once again, she was really appreciated.

And one fine day, she started dating Mauricio. Mauricio was the most popular guy of the Island (a good guy if you ask) and at first I wasn't sure I was really okay with this couple (mainly because I thought Mauricio was gay ngl), but over time, this couple has truly become my favorite!!

The two ultimately had a lot in common and Nour brought out the nerd side of Mauricio, and Mauricio the loveable side of Nour.

The two even ended up having a child: Feldupine. Maybe I'll introduce her one day. (Mauricio will have his own post for sure, he's my favorite.)

Voilà! The complete story of Nour. It always makes me funny to think that originally she was just supposed to be a practical Mii to wear Tails' costume and that she's been through a lot since then. I will continue to use it, I can't wait to see it for a long time!

CANON FACT TIME! (See fact 18 for the charisk)

This time I’m going to tell you all.. get this: 25 AZREMI FACTS!

Number 1: Azreal has a few custom sweaters based on their favourite shirt to wear whenever the shirt is dirty. They gave one to Emily because she really wanted one. Now sometimes they play something Co-op like Mario 3D world or cuphead as “sweater buddies”

Fact Number 2:Emily has met Azreal’s sister (who’s name is sarah) after everyone was freed. Emily told Sarah off for what she did to Azreal, and let’s just say: It worked and Azzy won’t have problems with his old family any time soon. (Note, I said any time SOON.)

Fact Number 3:Emily and Azreal always do their homework together. They get a plate of cookies and get to work.

Fact Number 4:Azreal and Emily sometimes fall asleep on the couch when watching a movie or playing a game, so Toriel or Asgore picks them up and TRIES to bring them to their beds, but they don’t let go of eachother, so Toriel or asgore end up just putting them both in Emily’s bed because it’s closer.

Fact Number 5:Azreal and Emily will match their Halloweeen costumes every time.

Fact Number 6:Scorch and Water put Azreal and Emily on their Tomodachi life and rigged it so they’d start dating

Fact Number 7:Azreal doesn’t really like their singing, but Emily thinks they sound Angelic.

Fact Number 8: Azreal and Emily have only really fought once and it was because Emily accidentally threw Azreal off the edge in Mario maker. (The fight lasted 3 minutes before the two of them realized how stupid it was and just hugged it out… for 6 minutes.)

Fact Number 9: sometimes Azreal and Frisk go with Univer to debates on monster rights, and Emily comes along. Any time someone says some snarky remark about Azreal “pfft, and what do YOU know? You’re just a dumb kid-“ Emily IMMEDIATELY Signals to Univer to start playing the “you are an idiot” audio at full blast until the snarky commenter shuts up. Azreal is ok with it.

Fact Number 10:The two of them together share a whole toy room filled with tons of plushies and other toys. Sometimes they play in there together. (Hellspawn, Tricksly, Chara, Flowey and Frisk join them sometimes)

Fact Number 11:They like drawing together sometimes.

Fact number 12:Sometimes the two of them bring Toby to the dog park together

Fact Number 13:They get married when they’re older and you have to accept it

Ah, Visual Novel Disc System games, my beloved. Welcome to Episode 8 of (Waku) Puyo Extras.

(Serilly reading a fashion magazine is pretty nice honesty. Too bad that Honey Bee and Momomo are gonna appear any second now.)

Hello everyone, it's the guy whose computer exploded on him once as well as the only Ciel fan in America (Seriously, I'm glad some fans know about Quest nowadays). Thankfully, the computer's slowly but surely getting fixed, so who knows, maybe I'll continue Arle's route next month due to every week having something planned this time around. (Apologies, Arle route watchers)

As the silly meme about PuyoLympics comes around and goes around (Thanks Witch,) I haven't neglected to speak about what the poll wanted to speak about: Serilly's Happy Birthday.

Would you call this a character speculated episode? It's more of a game starring a character, but I dunno.

With that, I think we can begin. Hope you enjoy.

First, let's talk about its origins:

Serilly's Happy Birthday was released in 1998 from Disc Station Volume #18, a magazine that carried either demos of games or full blown games, on the Windows 95.

(For some extra info, there were 2 sets of magazines. Issues #0-32 and Volume #1-27.)

It's a little unclear what month this was released, but we can make do with what we got.

However, and idk if this is big news or not, but I think I found an page covering Serilly's Happy Birthday, though not in the best quality out there.

I haven't seen this anywhere on the Puyo Nexus, or anywhere else really, so take this with a grain of salt. If true though, I adore how it looks.

Apparently it was made by the people who made the Tower of the Magician artstyle, which would make a ton of sense, but take this with a grain of salt.

(No Schezo though. Yeah he just makes a cameo, but hey, would've been nice.)

Also, tiny Carbuncle. You love to see it.

So, whats the game about?

The game itself is a Princess-Maker (Or in a better term, Social Simulation, didn't know the name first time around,) type game, a genre where you see the world of our own and the fictional world. Take Animal Crossing or Tomodachi Life for example. Or The Sims.

The story is that Serilly was given the ability to go on land, but she still doesn't have any legs. Minor misconception but an understandable one.

You then...simply put, plan Serilly's birthday as a whole, going through a week by week basis to get to the end of the year.

You may wonder what the numbers mean on the left. I'm glad you asked. They're stats that increase whilst doing activities with Serilly, such as dancing with Incubus, studying with Satan Masked Principal, I believe training with Samurai Mole, cleaning with Kikimora, etc.

From top left to bottom right, it goes Power, Head(? Due to Samurai Mole,) Cuteness, Story(? Or negotiation.), Kindness, and fatigue. These points are given in random increments, and doing too much tires Serilly, so heads up on on that.

(Cleaning with Kikimora. This is the best quality I could find this.)

Speaking of characters, here's some that appear in this game:

Wait, Supports?

Now you may wonder what I mean by supports. Well, to get an ending, along with Stat Points, you need to talk to the person themselves, which is why with my little Fire Emblem brain, call them supports. You have to have spoken to them enough, as well as get the necessary stats to get their ending, which is why it's so hard to get Draco's ending, least from what I see and hear. And Witch flat out won't talk to you if you're too stupid for her apparently.

However, while a little one-note, the supports and talks themselves are very charming in their own right, and they look stupid good to boot.

(A small support you can get with Witch.)

So, with those 6 characters I mentioned for the endings, there's 7 possible endings. One of them is NO ONE going to Serilly's birthday. If I ever got this ending, I'm retiring from everything.

Serilly herself is still fairly shy, but much more outgoing than what we're used to, which is nice considering she's the star of the show. I genuinely like how she's written here. Not Waku Puyo levels of great, but still top 2 IMO.

The characters themselves are roughly the same, with some expections. For example, the Masked Principal is actually incredibly nice to you, which is just...amazing tbh, Rulue is more dedicated to her training than anything, and Schezo...sucks as a character this time around. He's just a dude walking around saying "I want you!" like an actual pervert rather than just being a goofball about it. Oh, the misery. (Everybody wants to be my enemy...)

But what do some of these endings look like? Unfortunately, our old pal "The 10 image limit," has attacked us once again, and so, I can only show 4 of them.

But they're the popular characters so...I guess we win this time.

I genuinely love how this game looks, man. And the endings themselves are super charming in their own way. I believe in the Masked Principal ending, she helps people swim (Panotty, Archan?, Honey Bee, and Kodomo Dragon,) and it's honestly super cute.

So what do I personally think?

I think this game is incredibly interesting, as it's something that Disc Station or Puyo has a whole hasn't really seen. They chose an interesting character with Serilly, and they honestly made this game look visually stunning. The music is nice to listen to, and the characters are fairly nice to you for the most part, which is a nice change of pace considering it's, well... Serilly.

Overall, if you can ever find a way to see gameplay of the sort, check it out.

This is a shorter Puyo Extras, but I think I covered most of the basis of this game. That'll be all for now.

I've been thinking about Tsubaki Yayoi a bit lately. She was my main throughout most of the Blazblue series for her simple and straightforward gameplan and Julie Ann Taylor honestly knocking it out of the park voicing her.

But namely, I've been thinking about the fact that she was originally meant to be a lesbian in love with Noel.

You'd have to do a bit of digging for the information -and take my words with a grain of salt- but I believe Toshimichi Mori, the creator of Blazblue, had said at some point Tsubaki was originally meant to be in love with Noel Vermillion, the main heroine of the game, to the point of confessing her love at some point. This was later scrapped for a romance with Jin since the storyline apparently couldn't line up well enough for that, but also apparently the idea of having a lesbian/non-straight female was so strong that they created the canonically bisexual Makoto Nanaya to fill in that LGBT gap.

And this has always fascinated me. The romantic undertones of Jin and Tsubaki's relationship honestly felt pretty half-baked since the game's story was pushing the two having a more platonic sibling relationship than a romantic one, and while Tsubaki's relationship with Noel is definitely more intense than a typical friendship it's also hard to claim her to be a closeted lesbian since it doesn't go all the way. And... I wanted to talk about that for a little bit.

But first, a synopsis... well, of sorts anyway. Blazblue's a bitch to go in depth about lore-wise.

To spare everyone a long as fuck summary, Blazblue's story can be summarized as the main cast locked in various timeloops and alternate dimensions trying to figure out how to break out of them. Some characters know more than others, and Tsubaki is more of a layman, someone that's clueless about the timeline stuff, but also in the center of it due to her family's rank in the political landscape of the setting, and her abilities as a top-tier fighter. She's at the center of a lot of major events but is never too deeply involved despite her position claiming otherwise. Some of this is due to Blazblue's wonky writing from Chronophantasma onward, some of this is due to her just honestly having nothing to do outside of being that layman and representative of the elite class of Blazblue's world.

And now, a disclaimer.

I want to stress this analysis/discussion is not some weird fix-fic, me trying to explain a ship, or me thinking I can write better than those at ASW, I'm just a nerd having some fun and this little side comment hasn't left me head in years. If you must, think of it as a similar vent/discussion to my Tomodachi Game post. I'm just... getting this off my chest in as organized a fashion as I can.

Now then, let's break this down a little on how to make this work.

Tsubaki's General Story

To keep things brief (and also because I talked in depth about it here), Tsubaki's story is one of tragedy and deconstruction, a warning to those who blindly follow the ideals and rules of others, along with a breakdown of the 'Yamato Nadeshiko' archetype within many pieces of Japanese media. Tsubaki, believing that unquestioningly following the orders and beliefs of her family to the letter, was left to be used and manipulated as tool for others, to the point of being all but enslaved by her originally lofty ideals. With the right words to twist her perfect black-and-white world gray and the right target to vent her frustration on, she was willing to go so far as to kill her surrogate brother and her best friend because she was unable to think for herself and ultimately decided if push came to shove she's kill anyone that distorted her pure and straightforward worldview. And as she learns how wrong this view of things is she starts looking inward to try finding her own justice, her own goals and way of life.

This (to me) culminates in Tsubaki's Izayoi arcade mode in Chronophantasma, where in her last stage she meets Noel, the friend she tried to kill in a jealous rage one game ago, and finally admits her insecurities and doubts about herself, along with her secret hatred and jealousy of Noel, laying out everything before demanding Noel fight her in a serious duel without holding anything back so she can finally, truly laying out all of her emotions bare and see just what's inside her heart. Light, darkness, and everything in between that she was blinded to.

To me, that ends Tsubaki's narrative in the main story, but there's technically a fourth game that finishes out the story as a whole.

To briefly go over the events in Central Fiction, the short version is that in the main story there's an in-universe semi-reboot of the series and Tsubaki is back to square one in terms of her development. The plot breaks off depending on the canon story or the arcade story. The canon story has her semi-cured of the reboot memory wipe and she agrees to help the main cast with her abilities. Though none to pleased about helping Ragna, she pushes past that for the sake of helping Jin and Noel instead.

The arcade mode switches things up though, following the trail of her Izayoi arcade ending in terms of tone. Both her Tsubaki and Izayoi arcade modes follows similar beats to each other, but branches slightly depending on the character chosen, both ultimately ending with her deciding that she'd rather protect her friends than her ideals, even if it means denying and fighting against the simple and straightforward world she wanted and the heroes she respected. More or less the final evolution of her character arc after Chronophantasma's arcade ending.

Now here's a few facts about Tsubaki that blurb didn't explain since that's all the story stuff:

Tsubaki comes from an extremely wealthy & traditional family that put a lot of societal pressures on her.

Tsubaki is the product of inbreeding (yes, this is important to note) and is simply the first child of her generation to survive her birth.

Tsubaki has a childish view of justice at her core, despite her maturity due to her family's background.

Putting all that together Tsubaki comes from a very conservative family, but once she went to the military academy outside of her family's powerful influence she met up with people from different walks of life and was able to expand her views and experiences. Yes, I'm reaching a little too deeply into this, but I'm also a nerd, it's kinda' what I do. I also think it's important to break down a character to a relatable point so we have a good frame of the writing. You can only make a character so fantastical before they become an un-relatable, cartoonish caricature of a concept like 90% of long-running shounen and modern isekai, the characters just don't feel real or engaging outside the power fantasy.

But back on point. Throughout Tsubaki's story in Continuum Shift we learn that despite her experiences in the military academy that they still don't trump her family's strict views of justice and tradition. We also know that in the blurb explaining how the Yayoi family works that Tsubaki is not only likely the last pureblood Yayoi, but is also likely going to be the last of her family line, at least to the level of purity it has now. This likely puts massive pressure on her to maintain a certain level of traditionalism and decorum expected of her. Along with this, she has her military duties as well, being an assassin/secret police for her government.

Okay, but What About the Lesbian Thing?

Right, I got a little sidetracked going over video game lore.

This is actually pretty easy to explain. A lot of Tsubaki story is about accepting yourself at the end of the day. The good, the bad, the light, and the dark. Tsubaki has been to both extremes, blinded by light and ideals, her feelings for Jin and jealousy toward Noel were her main undoing. On the surface this feels like Tsubaki is very much straight due to her obsession with Jin, and the game really wants you to believe that.

But... it doesn't really work.

Sorry folks, but I'll have to talk about lore again and my own theorizing here.

Tsubaki's love of Jin is more that of a platonic sibling/cousin than a true romance. The games and even comic series make it very clear that Tsubaki's idea of love is very... Disney, to put it one way. She does love Jin, she truly does, but it's more as an object of a affection than loving Jin for who he is. She loves the idea of being with Jin, the idea of being married to the war hero and all around praised Jin Kisaragi. She loves being with Jin, working with Jin, being Jin's number two and the ideal warrior princess to go with his prince.

But.

But... that's really where it starts and ends. Jin's honestly just another ideal in Tsubaki's black and white world. The object of her affection. I mean hell, despite it being years later and her being implied to have romantic feelings for him, Tsubaki still calls Jin her brother, and Jin himself pushes that fact. And I mean that quite literally as in the Japanese dub of the game Tsubaki consistently refers to Jin with the somewhat childish honorific 'Jin-nii-sama' even as a woman in her early twenties. The love that's there is one of an eager sister wanting to be with her older brother, not a longing lover wanting to be with the one she cares about. And... like, more over, Jin's kind of an asshole outside of Tsubaki. With Tsubaki he is kind, gentle, and even somewhat princely because Tsubaki is one of the few people that can push past his abrasive attitude and see the hardworking, intense, noble man he truly is under all that arrogance and hostility. But everyone else gets caustic, acidic, abrasive attitude, and even Tsubaki is only so immune to it, past relations or not.

Now, to put the spin back to Noel. Tsubaki's relationship with her is a bit... odd. Tsubaki said it herself in her Izayoi arcade mode. Noel is very much like a rabbit. She's cute, jumpy, and quick to flee from danger. She's a cute girl that needs to be protected, and Tsubaki very much does protect her in her Central Fiction arcade modes. With Noel we see a gentleness and kindness that Tsubaki doesn't spare many people. She's kind and professional to most folk, but with Noel it truly feels like she's going out of her way to be extra welcoming, partly because Noel herself is so sensitive and partly just... well, out of love for her.

I mean folks, I'm gonna' drop the professionalism and analysis here and just say things straight out. Daisuke Ishiwatari made the Tsubaki vs. Noel theme before he made the Tsubaki vs. Jin theme, and the emotions in Memory of Tears, especially the remix, are just a lot more intense than in Childish killer. Izayoi's Chronophantasma arcade ending had Tsubaki go full shounen and straight up had her punching out her feelings and emotions toward Noel in a no-holds-barred duel against her, a duel she had to coax Noel into like convincing your crush to just go on that one date at the rowdy bar that serves great chicken. The Alter Memory anime dub straight up had Noel admit that she (platonically) always loved Tsubaki despite her faults. In fact, a lot of Noel's lines and feelings toward Tsubaki could be read as sapphic in the right light. We can debate if Tsubaki has feelings for Noel, but Noel definitely has some feelings about Tsubaki, platonic or not.

Jin and Tsubaki's relationship was pushed to be more brother-sister than lovers ever since Chronophantasma. Even the writers didn't really wanna' ship that, despite the hints and implications.

But... yeah, getting back on topic.

The key idea here is that for all the implications of Tsubaki and Jin being a couple there's a lot more implying that Tsubaki and Noel have a more complicated relationship than implied.

So... Why Wasn't It Canon?

I was originally going to put together than outline of how I'd have this hypothetical story go, but... well, like I said, I'm not really in the wheelhouse of doing fix-fics for a myriad of reasons. It's going to be a lot better to explain why, despite implications and some easy tweaks here and there, why Tsubaki and Noel our ultimately just girl-friends instead of girlfriends.

Again, it was already explained that they just couldn't make the plot work, but... I also think there are some other reasons why as well. Mind you, this is all just theory crafting on my part. But with all that said...

Not the Focus: This one's pretty simple to explain. Tsubaki and Noel, while important characters to the story, aren't the main character. By Chronophantasma and especially Central Fiction this series becomes the Ragna Show and their relationship would had detracted and distracted from that main story of Ragna the Bloodedge's finale.

Lack of Confidence: Blazblue, much like Guilty Gear, is rather progressive all things considered when you look beyond the horny as hell female designs. That said, I believe the writers made it clear in interviews that they aren't confident in writing romance stories in general (look at the botched nightmare of Litchi and Arakune/Roy's storyline for an example of that) and a lesbian romance story would had been... rough, to put it politely. We all saw how rowdy the Guilty Gear fandom got when they got a Trans and Nonbinary character after all. It took weeks, took months before things settled down. I don't blame Team Blue for being hesitant to pulling the Lesbian Lever there.

LGBT Reps Already Existed: Like I said, Makoto was made to fill the LGBT gap that was Tsubaki's original storyline, but we also got Amane who's canonically gay, Mai who's canonically trans, and possibly Azrael being either bi or asexual depending on how you want to view him. In terms of actual, proper LGBT representation there was already enough, at least in terms of visibly showing it, and wheeling back on the already implied straight romance of Tsubaki and Jin would had made things... messy.

Enough Plotlines: Central Fiction really screwed the pooch on a lot of ideas, but there were enough faltering subplots already. Adding more would had been a pain if I'm being frank. I... don't have a high opinion of Central Fiction's storyline outside the Ragna stuff if I'm being frank about.

So... What Now?

With all that said... what now? I just wanted to talk about it really. But who knows, maybe I'll write up that little fanfic after all. This is just too interesting to not try taking a stab at, but that'll be for a later date.

Probably Fight Club. I just adore the unique way it's shot/presented and all the commentary it has about toxic masculinity/commercialism. It also has so many quotable lines I absolutely adore, and I love the voice they gave the narrator/MC. The most recent one I watched was the Mario movie!

Yep! Although, to be honest, I have times where I play a lot of games and times where I'm like "nah" lol. Tbh, I don't play Toon Town anymore. It's too frustrating without being able to erase quests and no self healing items. Ironically, I'm both a huge fan of casual games and horror games lol.

I adore things like Tomodachi Life and think everyone is sleeping on Go Vacation (a wii game, also on the Switch now, where you can literally make Miis to travel with and follow you). I think the F/O community would love that one. I am a huge fan of Yai Gameworks horror stuff and RPG Maker games!

My favorite Pokemon has always been Espeon, though Umbreon takes a close second. Either that or Oshawott. I have a soft spots for psychic, dark, and water types. I almost always picked the water type starters when I was little, so.

I've told this story before but

when I was 13-14 I decided that I was going to play Tomodachi Collection (Tomodachi Life's NDS predecessor that was only fantranslated to English) with people from my school. So for a week I just took my DS there and asked everyone to make Miis of themselves and I'd update them on how it went. No one was really interested but they still went with it.

Still, I played it for quite a while. Even during vacation that year to the next I was still playing. If you don't know, the Tomodachi duology are games where you make Miis live in an island together and you just do stuff for them. Give them clothes, feed them, sometimes they'll ask for help with something or play something together or talk to each other etc. It's a small-scale social simulator.

I had a classmate that was in my school for a year and then left. She was nice. We didn't talk that much because I'm a bit closed off in groups but I thought she was nice to talk to. If you know me you know this is basically me saying I was in love with her but oh well.

Without my input, our Miis started dating. Hooray! This supports some kind of hope of mine that I will magically date her someday even though I have no clue if I'll ever even see her again because she doesn't have social media or a phone number or literally any contact info at all. But still, nice! Her Mii was pretty so I'd pat her on the head a lot.

The island had too few female Miis, so I decided to do something I always thought about in any situation and nobody knew why. What if I was a girl someday? Either through some magical temporary transformation like some anime I watched, or through some kind of multiverse meetup thing where I meet a cooler version of me that happens to be a hot girl also. Anyway. The Mii was just my Mii with longer hair (I did not have my classic Huge Hair at the time) and a different smile, I think.

So for some reason, my Mii and his girlfriend have been fighting a lot over nothing, and helping them make up is difficult. At one point, my Mii just asks me to break up and, though I regret it immediately, I said yes because the fighting was tiring even for me, the omnscient being that controlled the island.

Both Miis were now really sad, but sometime after a classmate of mine, specifically a guy who is so Different around girls that everyone who knew him swears he had a crush on every woman who's ever directed a word to him, started dating my ex Mii girlfriend. That honestly felt a little insulting to 14 year old Mii. No, that still feels insulting now.

Then sometime after, my Mii and my girl Mii were becoming really close. Then they confessed to each other! What!!! Well, who was I to stop them? Now I was dating myself. Was this because I was so lonely and heartbroken over my difficult relationship before that I felt I was only truly understood by myself? I don't know. Maybe I was just really hot.

Point is, my Mii ex and classmate got married, and then my two Miis got married too. Now it was more of a concrete thing. You even get the credits when someone gets married! It was weird.

But yeah, after I stopped playing, I did meet that girl again, and we talked a lot, and then we were dating flirting kind of thing, and then turns out she was dating a guy already and just didn't tell me so we were both betrayed, and then they kept dating for a while until he broke up with her because he didn't think she was invested in their relationship at all which to be fair I also got that impression, then we just kept being friends and she asked me to date her, and I said yes because well of course I said yes do I look like I'd say no?

Can you guess why we broke up? I wanted to stop because we fought too much. So I did. Now she's been dating this one guy for like years and seems like they work way better than we did. So...

I guess I just have to wait until I meet another me now?

Malleus as a fellow player of Tomodachi Life is preparing Malleus-Mii to confess his feelings for Y/N-Mii, what would it be the worst that could happen?

Tagging @wolken-himmel​ and @infra-jaded​ because from the first one, I got inspirated by her writing and the second one was the one who proposed the original idea. 

Blame me if you find it hilarious, but I had to. 

The moment had come. Malleus knew as his saw in his borrowed Nintendo 3DS saw a heart icon on the apartment of Malleus-Mii, apparently his Mii was in love with someone, mostly because it seemed like that. He touched the screen with his DS pencil and enter. Suddenly, his mini representation seems to have a problem, but there was no problem that Malleus, the creator of Gao Gao Island, couldn’t solve. So, he touched again the screen to know what exactly to do.

“I have felling for Y/N. I’ve got to tell Y/N”

— How scandalous — Malleus thought as he turned a little bit red, it seems that Malleus-Mii was a loyal representation of himself in that game. He tapped the option “I’ll help you” since he’ll support his Mii to have the courage to confess to his beloved Y/N.

“How should I tell Y/N?”

Seeing the options of how he could act to court Y/N. There were some of them which called his attention: Be traditional, be romantic, give a gift, sing a song, and others. It was time to think carefully which it would be the best option among them to Malleus-Mii court Y/N-Mii. Of course, he could serenade Y/N with a violin, but for the moment he only saw a guitar, and he didn’t even know if we could use it during the confession, so singing wasn’t an option. Giving a gift could’ve been a great option, but he wouldn’t be able to express all his feelings for Y/N if he didn’t have the right item in the game. Then, he decided to not pick that choice. Now, Malleus surely understand Malleus Mii in the game, it was a tough moment that would cause anyone to be, at least, slightly nervous. Then the traditional way or the romantic one was the final dispute at this moment. From these two options, he selected the traditional way, because he strongly believed Malleus-Mii wouldn’t dare to act out of his imagination. So, he proceeded to continue after thinking hard.

“Where should I tell Y/N?”

This was another question that could have been tricky, but he had already an idea. The season in Gao Gao Island was in summer, so maybe he could take advantage of the environment to confess. Even though the park was also a good place to tell his true feelings, he preferred the beach. After putting his mind on it, he tapped the screen again.

“Should I get changed first?”

Checking his Mii clothes, he couldn’t say he didn’t look appropriate to confess. Well, at least his Mii, because the real Malleus was playing in his pyjamas. Asking some advice might be the proper thing to do, but he heard from Silver that Lilia was participating in an event in his online game, and he didn’t want to interrupt his game session for this matter. So, when he went change in his dorm clothes with magic, he asked Sebek. However, his answer wasn’t that helpful at first.

— YOU WILL LOOK GREAT IN ANY COLOR CLOTHES WAKA-SAMA — he shouted unconsciously as he saw all the possible options of clothes in the game. Malleus, for all the time he had spent with his loyal servant, is used to Sebek’s way of talking. In fact, Sebek was passionate regarding the main colour of his Mii clothes. To sum up, what happened there, Sebek recommends dark green and black clothes, since those colours were the characteristic of him and the dorm, it fit him nicely, to say the least.

Now again, the ultimate moment had come, Malleus was watching with his full attention to the scenery, the dark night with the moon and the stars making some company to the ocean, who was reflecting the two Mii. Anyone who could see Malleus at this moment would think he is obviously excited about this event, it might reveal a bright future for this two, and if destiny happens to support his real feelings, the real Malleus and Y/N might start courting.

“I’ve had my heart set on you since the moment I first saw you…will you go out with me?”

Malleus heart was beating faster in a couple of seconds. It is short, but it was completely honest at the same time, Malleus like how brief his mini representation was to be a little vulnerable towards his feelings. Malleus-Mii finally said it to Y/N-Mii, who didn’t beam at an instant. Malleus now was wondering why Y/N-Mii didn’t answer until he heard something weird.

“Wait” an unexpected voice pop out and enter the confession scenario, a piece of dramatic music turned on when his face was revealed. It was the stalker hunter who knew no limits of privacy. However, Malleus didn’t know why Rook-Mii was there.

— What — Malleus was speechless regarding the turned off events. His Mii was standing somewhere over the place as he walked towards the two Mii. As Rook-Mii makes it to his point, he said “I love you too”.

“No, I love you more” And Malleus-Mii defend from that accusation as the real one was cheering for his mini representation. He didn’t expect that when a Mii confess to another Mii, there would be an interruption. — In other words, this means that Y/N-Mii must choose— Malleus softly said to himself while he was worried about not being the one Y/N-Mii choose. He was about to face it, that Y/N-Mii will choose now, but he saw that the three of them, turn their head looking at the ocean and he hears again another noise.

“Wait” a Lilia-Mii revealed himself bumping out of the ocean and the little dramatic music replayed. — WHAT, LILIA WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE? — Malleus shouted in his internal thoughts, he was more surprised that his father Mii was interested in Y/N-Mii, when in real life, he was the one who only knew his feelings towards Y/N. Could it be that Lilia was repressing himself to not feel anything like that so Malleus could have an opportunity? Malleus didn’t know. But this was like a betrayal, why didn’t he tell Malleus something? Anyway, Lilia-Mii went out of the ocean and ran direct towards the crow of people to say. “I love you the most”

Both Mii denied those words. And Malleus was doing the same thing, it was obvious that Malleus-Mii had the strongest feelings among all of them, they were the first Mii in Gao Gao Island. They know each other for more time than Lilia-Mii and Rook-Mii, they had shared more moments together.

“Y/N who do you choose?” He didn’t pay attention to who ask, but his heart had become more anxious when he now realizes that one of them might be the lucky one.

“I’m glad you feel the same way, Lilia” Y/N-Mii smiled directly to Lilia, being the only one standing while Rook-Mii and Malleus-Mii felt on their knees. He got rejected, his Mii got rejected by Y/N-Mii.

While Malleus has in his own world of thoughts on why he got rejected by Y/N, if everything was perfect between them to him, a noisy sound brings him back to his borrowed Nintendo 3DS. Malleus-Mii was crying on the floor of his apartment while he said “I got rejected”

— I’m sorry I failed you, Malleus-Mii— He truly felt pity towards his mini self, because he had expected a match between them. However, reality proves him otherwise. Not everyone can predict what it could happen, and it might be time to move on and feel happy that Lilia-Mii is the one who already conquered Y/N-Mii heart, but he suddenly remembers one thing. He didn’t save that action.

Yeah, no one will know that happened in the game, no one had seen the first option and that his Malleus-Mii wasn’t successful in his confession. No one will know that he restarted that file. At least, not Y/N. However, today wasn’t the day to do it, he needs to recover from this intense battle to Malleus-Mii confess Y/N-Mii while eating some ice cream to lighten his mood. He might figurate out how to make Malleus-Mii court Y/N-Mii better and max out their relationship but for now, he will take a break.

Story: 5/10

I'm still not familiar with slices of life and I never really know if a story is good or not. For this manga I think the story was good? The whole “marrying my girl friend to have the experience to write my book” was a cute idea and the moments the two girls spend together are adorable. Every chapter we get to see a new day of their life and even if it’s really basic and normal it’s still enjoyable. Their struggles are easily understandable.

Art: 5/10

The artstyle is not crazy (I have the impression that I always say it). This is basic and sometimes a bit hasty, but my reading has not been affected at all.

Cast: 6/10

The casting is really small, there are only the two main girls + other characters who appear only one or two times in the story. Kurumi and Ruriko are two lovely girls, we can easily understand their nature. Personally, I really like Kurumi's personality, she is really extroverted and hyper-active, she is always out doing activities and often does not sleep at night to work on her book. Ruriko is quite the opposite, she doesn't come out often, she sleeps very early and wakes up every day to work at her bakery. I think both girls are complementary and it's really satisfying.

Enjoyment: 7/10

I really liked this story! It was fun to read, every chapter talks about a new problem and how they solve it and it just feels very real and human. I think everyone can relate to them. I would recommend this if you are looking for a small slice of life to read just to pass the time.

a ship i have with said character: fuck idk hes not really shippable. i think he had a one night stand with sadeas in his youth like everyone else in the fandom does. i have an au in my head that i will NEVER talk about where basically my self insert and dalinar are bathumpin. i think he lusts after random soldiers during his loveless marriage with evi. idk im very much of the opinion that in canon dlainar should never get a s/o cuz he sucks at romantic relationshiops and he doesn't really deserve a gf or a bf or anything because he has to work on himself first

a brotp i have with said character: this is so funny does dalinar have friends besides the og war criminal squad and like. havar. ah toh how could it have been a party without you. i think dalinar and navani would have ruled if they were friends like i do not want to see elhokar's mom getting as narsty as brand sand will allow with dalinar but i do want to see them strategizing together you know. why did they have to kiss.

WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT. i also. dont like dalivani but it doesnt disgust me at the moral level dalinar/kaladin does it just makes me go wow you really are fucking your dead brother's wife huh. we really do have to read paragraphs upon paragraphs about how much of a sexy milf navani is huh.

a random headcanon: before writing oathbringer he is encouraged by like. navani. to write poems to practice like idk handwriting and creative thought or whatever the hell. and so he writes poems. but theyre all really bad and they all rhyme but have really bad rhythm. they are never published but jasnah has them in whatever the roshar equivalent of a manila folder in a file cabinet is and she looks at them for inspiration when she's stuck writing another ketek for a wedding and has poet's block because it reminds her that at least she's a better poet than her uncle

general opinion over said character: dalinar is in a very frustrating place in my brain because there are very few people who share the view that he is like. doing the best he can but also like. hes not doing enough. like both can be true at the same time. and like i either see people like DALINAR SO SEXY heart eyes emoji who cares that he killed all those people and was a terrible husband. or people who are like. dalinar sucks so in my fan content i am going to make him suck in ways that he doesnt actually suck in canon because hes never done a kind thing in his life right. and both are like sandpaper to my brain but in different ways. dalinar is great but i dont trust people with him yknow

Elhokar:

sexuality headcanon: homosexual elhokar kholin. this guy is gay. this guy is the twink of a lifetime.

gender headcanon: i think it would be fun if he was genderfluid like he propbably would figure that out if he lived and was doing lightweavery things

a ship i have with said character: CAN YOU REALLY SHIP ELHOKAR WITH ANYONE⁇⁇⁇⁇⁇⁇ he doesnt really. he doesnt really have romantic chemistry with like. anyone. hes gay but nobody wants him. i think there is something to be said about him possibly having a VERY UNREQUITED thing for kaladin but room temp milk is something that i do not even pretend to comprehend. i think he's more of a "have brief quiet flings with dudes" sort of guy. i like elhokar/hoid due to tomodachi life. and i like elhokar/elliot decker also due to tomodachi life. idk. i dont really ship elhokar w anyone

a brotp i have with said character: I LOVE THE CONCEPT OF THE KHOLIN COUSINS ALL BEING VERY GOOD FRIENDS WITH EACH OTHER like obviously i like the concept of he and jasnah actually having a sibling relationship that we see and i like the concept of him and adolin being flashy bastards that get into arguments about being flashy bastards and i like the concept of him and renarin being like. surprisingly close just cuz they both have the Liking Men thing going on yknow. it is very important to me. like i know logically the kholin cousins would not all be super close to each other because there's a 15 year gap between jasnah and renarin and even the 4 year gap between elhokar and adolin is pretty big when you're a kid but i want to believe. also honorable mention for younger aesudan and elhokar being bros jess your brain is so huge

a notp i have with said character: whoever that person is who did one chapter of a moash/elhokar fic on ao3 i would love to study you

a random headcanon: elhokar naturally sits like with one leg crossed over the other but when hes in public he sits up straight and manspreads to try to project a kingly posture

general opinion i have over said character: this is ANOTHER character that nobody gets right. like everyone is either ike ELHOKAR MY LITTLE BEAN he did nothing wrong <3 or theyre like FUCK ELHOKAR FOR DOING LIKE 2 BAD THINGS oh by the way here's my favorite character who did nothing wrong and their favorite is like. dalinar or raboniel or some shit. my friends are the only ones who know and perceive the truth

gender headcanon: i think it would be fun if he had a case of the masc aligned nonbinaries. he/they renarin. this is the future we want

a ship i have with said character: literally rlainarin is so good. i dont usually read fanfiction but sometimes when im feeling sad i read rlain/renarin fic because love is real

a brotp i have with said character: see elhokar's section on kholin cousins ALSO. i think it's really important that he's friends with people in bridge four. a group of frat boys is something that can be so personal

a notp i have with said character: i started reading the books like at the same time renarin was confirmed to have a crush on rlain so every ship i see that's not that makes my brain go [doug dimmadome voice] not right! special anti-shoutout to renarin/shallan though. hatred violence.

a random headcanon: the reason he's so knowledgeable on wine is because of him spending his preteens and early teen years buying dalinar wine to earn his love :(

general opinion of said character: RENARIN IS SO GOOD. literally the power of renarin is that i have never in my life ever seen anyone who hates renarin EVER. everyone is always like renarin is a good boy :) i will say that people infantalize him a lot and i fell into this trap partially because i thought he was like 16 or 17 because i thought adolin was like 19 or 20 so id say shit like oh i want to help him study for the sat i want to go to his band concerts. nah he is 19 in twok that is an entire adult. also i think he should go just a little bit apeshit at some point i think he should be a little bit mad at dalinar. renarin rights
