You sigh staring at the specimen in front of you. A boring plain leafed plant from one of the recent expeditions. Ordinary nothing special. Quite lackluster and disappointing. Not someone anybody would care for. Someone? Gosh you need a break, this is getting sad. Projecting your angst on to a poor little plant is defiantly a new low. You shake your head and sigh running a hand over your face. A few of your fellow science officers send concerned glances your way. You flush slightly embarrassed.

"Just stop!" You snap you can't help it. You're so overwhelmed. Everything is too much. All the eyes looking at you. And him. Why does he have to hate you so much. Why... Oh god and now you've yelled at him! You've just made this into an even bigger scene. Thank god there's not too many people in the labs this late at night. But everyone will soon hear about this...oh god you're fucked.

You begin to tear up. You look into his eyes finally. His eyebrows are raised almost holding an expression of shock and maybe concern? Who are you kidding as if he could care. Even if he could care he'd definitely not care for you.

"Why? Why do you hate me so...so-" you're cut off by a small cry that escapes. You quickly throw a hand over your mouth to stop any more from escaping. Tears begin to run down your face. So I messaged @drawthethingdoppelganger today and it ended up being so long and fun to write that I want to share it (I modified it a bit, but it's mostly the same as when I sent it):

Also shame on everyone who keeps vitriolically hating on Jimmy Jr.! He's a middle schooler, come on. Sure, "V For Valentine-Detta" was not a great episode for him, but that doesn't make him an awful, toxic person who's manipulating Tina.

It's super frustrating how people keep saying things like this to justify why Tina should 100% be with Zeke or Josh instead. Sure, I ship Tina and Josh the most, but that doesn't mean Tina and Jimmy Jr.'s relationship is toxic, especially considering how young they are. Also, let's not forget that Tina's not totally innocent either, she's done her fair share of (lovingly) being mean to J Ju. Like when she got high on caffeine in "The Unnatural" and made fun of his lisp. That exchange sends me every time.

Anyway, he's just a dumb teenager who has commitment issues! I genuinely believe he will mature as he and Tina grow older, no matter what their relationship status eventually turns out to be. It just makes me upset when people are so mean to him, it reminds me of the few people who are super mean to Gene.

Gene is also a dumb middle schooler (said with love) and sure, he's not perfect, but isn't that what makes him a lovely, compelling character? He has flaws. The only episodes I don't really enjoy him in are "Beefsquatch" and "Mommy Boy". That is it. And even in those episodes, he learns his lesson and comes around in the end, so they're not completely devoid of value either. He is actually so sweet that he doesn't even want to prank anyone on April Fool's Day! And let's not forget how in "It Snakes A Village", he quickly pushed through his fear of snakes to save Tina and Louise's lives! He's clearly still scared of them after that episode because of that one episode where he gets terrified of Steve in Nat's limo, so he did all of this for his sisters. I mean 🥺

Still crying that someone on Reddit said he should be killed off because he's annoying and doesn't add anything, like no! 😭 Does that person understand how strange and empty the show would feel without my precious baby boy? He may be the Middle Child, but he's so crucial to the show and its humor! He basically invented it from episode one, I'm telling ya. Like his cute lil' burger suit and his weird sound effects machine thingy? Yes. There would be something missing and everyone would feel it.

I adore the rest of the Belchers too, I really do, but no one has ever said that any of the others should be killed off? Because that's such a ridiculous notion?? I can't think of any characters in the show I would even think this about because I love all of them so much, every one of those side characters has a special place in my heart too.

One example I can think of where the show would feel so empty without Gene was that one scene (I can't remember which episode) where Tina tried to be like Gene and tell a joke, and then Gene said the same joke a second later, and Bob actually said, "It was funnier when Gene said it." It's unexplainable, but it's true. Somehow it was funnier when Gene said the joke! I love you so much, Tina girl, but Bob is right. He just fills a certain niche for the show, like Jimmy Jr. does. I feel as if we're in the same boat @drawthething so much because I think Jimmy Jr. might be the one character some people are as mean to as Gene? Like, come on! They're our precious dumb middle school boys (who are definitely LGBTQ+) and their flaws make them such fun characters to follow. They're not perfect, but that's what kind of makes them perfect.

Hii, i saw you answering an ask from an anon, the one where you said that your uncomfortable with their more "sexuall" jokes becuse you feel it's unfair to their wives? And the only reson you sport them is becuse you think they had feelings for each other long befor they got married, and if it wasn't for that then they would be plan cheaters… that kind'a made me.. sad. of course you can have your opinion and felings about them(i also don't really love the sexuall jokes. it's not really my humer, and it's not why i can't stop fixating on them and their story, i just love the connection and the love they have for each other, and the sincere moments that are unintentional, alot more..) but i think you'r being a bit harsh on them, i mean IF they were actually in a romantic relationship, then they seeme to have figured out that whole arengment with their wives, and everyone is happy.. and if they were just ,doing it for jokes and this bit that has been going on for so long, then they seeme to have that figured out as will, and they know if their wives are comfortable with that type of jokes or not. I just don't think it's fair to think that about them and limit them to that. and i think thats kind of the problem with thinking this way, and going with it( that they are actually together and just not telling us about it, as much as i've would LOVE to indulge in that..) becuse alot of things star to feel ingenue and deceptive, and i think their love, and jus ..wholesomeness, that we see alot more in like ear biscuits, where their just alot more laid back and just being themselves and being honest, and not more in their performing, and audience pleasing mode, like in gmm. ( for example, the biscuit about link's b day, i mean that was so fucking cute.. rhett meeting link's friends, and the possessiveness that he has for link, that manifests itself in so many different ways, and becuse it hurts rhett's ego to acknowledge that bit of jealousy that is so obvious on his face😂, it just comes out in little digs or just reminding link that, hay i know you more than them all combined. whenever link mentions hanging out with other people. And in this one, it was the way rhett was basically saying, even your friends know i'm different, and he started unconsciously listing why "i'm your best friend" " i know you so will" "we've been friends for forty years" "you've know them for what, a year, two years?"… Like he just had to basically say no matter how many new friends you have, i'm always number one😣and there is soo many other instances.. it's heartwarming. and it makes me want to slap link and say, hay, don't you see how jealous you'r making you'r boy, stop it😭… Sorry i got sidetracked..) i just think it deserves to be highlighted more, whether we think it's platonik or romantic..

It’s a little funny that when I answered said previous ask, I ended it by saying “I hope I am not seeing their relationship in rose tinted glasses” and yet you felt I was too harsh on them 😅 Amazing how differently people can perceive things.

Anyway, everything I said there works based on the conviction that there is something “more” and serious happening between them. It doesn’t apply in case they are just platonic friends or haven’t acted on their romantic feelings. Of course I do believe their friendship is real and deep and sweet. And that they have a right to be silly and make stupid adult jokes like bros if that’s all there is to it. (Except they make adult jokes but they are not bro adult jokes…)

The bottomline is still that I do not believe this is the case, so I don’t have much to add here. Even though you push yourself to entertain the possibility as an extemely unlikely one, it’s clear you mostly think I am being harsh / unfair to them exactly because I misinterpret everything they do based on my false conviction that they have an affair. But again what I said does not apply in the case they don’t have an affair (although it still makes them queerbaiters), except the problem - I can’t help it - is that I still feel strongly that they do. So I don’t have anything else to say on this because at the moment I can not change the entirety of my belief and we are on significantly different places regarding this matter. From my side, compared to how I think about this, I feel like your reasoning has too much Disney effect in it. For example, thinking “they can’t be doing this because that would mean they were liars or x bad thing all this time”. To me that’s Disney reasoning and, above all, the very optimistic faith that if they are truly in an affair surely they have made it work in a way that everybody (who? Their wives? Their children? Their parents?) is genuinely happy with it? I am sorry to say but to me this sounds like Disney and Dreamworks together. I love Rhett and Link dearly for keeping me company with their show in difficult times and I truly want whatever is best for them but I do consider them very flawed people, unfortunately potentially very capable of things you fear (lying, hiding stuff, misleading, putting themselves and each other above family etc).

OH BOY I'VE BEEN WANTING TO TELL YOU😭 Okay so like the first day this motherfucker shows up he is instant asking me to buy him lunch, and like I've joked about it with my supervisor before so I was like 'haha no, I'm not buying you lunch haha' like all fun in games, lunch time rolls around, I'm waiting for my food and this fucker shows up like 'so what'd you get me?' And then he says that I owe him??? For telling him to do his JOB? but I refuse to buy him lunch then he gets pissed off like bro??? What the hell? Not to mention that he just guilt tripped me into buying him lunch like twice. (Not to mention the fact that he gets paid MORE than me, because he works longer and more days than me. Because I'm still in school, I can only work weekends, while he skips school and works an hour longer than me.)

Anyway, when we started to work together I told him what to do (because he was being fucking TERRIBLE at his job) and he started to sorta make fun of me for it (ex. 'I can't believe that someone smaller and younger than me is bossing me around', and for context I'm 5'1, around 95-100lb, and a year younger than him, so he's jus making fun of me now,) and like at first I was like 'haha... please do your JOB' and he simply REFUSED to do it. As a housekeeper, I have a fairly simple job, just make all the beds you can before you get off because I'm too small and lanky to do the actual job. The time limit is like, 10-15 mins, fairly easy if BOTH of us do it. I take around 7 mins to make one bed, but he takes FOREVER.

Just. Make the beds. That's all.

But he gets whiney and all mad and acts like a kid, 'my legs hurt', 'I don't wanna do that', 'can't you just do it for me?' Like I'm his mom. So on the first I just told him to look at the open rooms and stripe the beds, then come back and help me out.

He didn't come back. After I got done making like, 4 beds, I go to the room he's being lazy in and see him sitting on the couch, on his phone watching funny videos. The next day, he does the same thing. It keeps going on for like, 5 weeks. Each time he does it, our supervisor always gets on him for it. Then this week comes.

We went into different rooms to make the beds because there were only 3 rooms and I did 2, so like he did 2 beds and I did 4...

If he did do that room. Not even half way through, he comes in like 'hey, there's a tip, what do I do?' And I'm confused because I'm sure he already knows what to do with tips, but I just told him to either hide in our cart or put it on our coworkers cart, he says 'oh, I'll go put it on her cart' and I'm like ok, that shouldn't take you long...

It took him until after our break for him to come back. that's a whole 35 mins. Then he keeps doing it. 'I gotta go to the bathroom', 30 mins before our lunch break. Doesn't show up until I'm already 20 mins in my lunch break. Supervisor asks him why he keeps disappearing, he says he isn't, before he then says 'I couldn't find her cart'...

My cart was right in the open, you could see it if you looked past the elevator hallways. Then, right after our break, he disappeared again. The supervisor asked him why again and he says some more bullshit.

Then he leaves because his grandma came to pick him up. Turns out, he never did drop off the tip and our coworker never knew she was supposed to get it. Came in today and my supervisor told me that he lied and that I should just hide the tips from him when we work together (we didn't today, he went to work with someone on the ground floor, where they do custodian work) which confused me because the place we work has a strict policy, if you steal a tip then you can get fired and even go to jail.

At this point I'm wondering if our boss is his grandma or something because he kept bragging that the only reason he has this job is because his friend is the boss's granddaughter... like it was something to be proud of...
