ouhhhhhh be SO prepared
Essentially what it all comes down to is that almost all of the fandom has a "Rick Didn't Make Blitzstone Canon, How Sad" Mindset (which I don't fault anyone for) but I absolutely hate that view of it. I think there is such beauty in the fact that Rick didn't explicitly say what Blitzstone is because he doesn't need to. It's clear in every scene they're in how much they mean to each other, they love each other but whether love is interpreted as romantic, platonic, or a Secret Third Thing is entirely up to the reader. I for one, adore seeing blitzstone depicted as romantic, but I'm also aroace and seeing them in fanworks as a QPR means so much to me. I think there's so much lost potential for them because people don't always look past the "darn I wish they were canon-er" (and on top of this I could also make an argument that they ARE canon and people just aren't looking hard enough but I digress)
TLDR: No more "aw shucks blitzstone isn't canon" And more "wahoo!!! blitzstone isn't canon!!!
ngl one of Rick Riordan's weirdest choices was not having Blitz and Hearth be married. like Richard they're married, they have more chemistry and are more natural and at ease with each other than almost any other Riordanverse characters, they're not made for each other's environments but they both have ways to get around it when they need to and they're both more comfortable mentally in Midgard's middle ground anyway, they're outcasts in their societies, they see the strengths and beauties in each other that nobody else does
literally in every way they're the couple ever
