i can't stand my stupid hyperfixation in sharks as a whole because i physically cannot stop reading about them in my free time and every time i find new fun facts i want to make a Hoshigaki OC based on my favourites

i SPECIFICALLY want to make an elder, a crusty-ass old man that has literally no right to still be alive, who's only still kicking around because he's too stubborn to actually keel over and bite the dust (based on the frilled shark : ) because i love them : ) ) under a read more b/c i ramble too much

an old man that's hilariously short-statured among this clan of gilled giants, who wears a lackadaisical grin that displays an uncomfortable amount of teeth for a supposedly human mouth. his gills jut out from his throat, with very visible red gill filaments that he tends to flare whenever he laughs too hard.

dark eyes that see far more than they let on, bearing a quiet presence that barely registers until he'd long-since taken his leave.

rarely seen or heard from, considered a living fossil only behind his back (even though he himself finds it hilarious when he catches wind of the little ribbing nickname).

a mystery among his own clan, who has an almost docile demeanour in comparison to the fire and penchant for combat and sparring the rest of the Hoshigaki are known for. he still somehow unsettles the youngers of his clan, a fact which he is fully and delightfully aware of.

it's literally this old shithead's hobby to watch his youngers squirm when he materializes out of nowhere, just to plonk down beside them and start muttering away about his day, his week, his month, the old days, his dinner - literally anything. he loves a captive audience almost as much as he loves retiring home to cackle in privacy about his old man mischief at the end of the day

nobody knows how well he fights (which he can, his old bones just prefer not to when it can be avoided), but nobody has the balls to try anything. nor do outsiders get the chance to see him in a fight because he'll just as easily piss off without giving them a chance to actually initiate combat.

he's got a half-decent book at home that's more interesting than wasting his time on some little brat looking to prove themselves with him. :' )
