yes!! i find it amazing that newer gen stans seem to have no interest or curiosity in learning how kpop developed to where it is now. contextualizing the industry is so important in appreciating the current industry. knowing where it came from and seeing how it has developed adds so much to experience. it just astounds me that they have so much more access to this information compared to when i got into kpop in 2012/2013 and yet theyve never been curious enough to click on one of those explainer vids about major 1st gen or 2nd gen artists. or theyve never cared enough to click on the compilation vids of the greatest 1st gen or 2nd gen songs. if they had then they would have learned some fascinating history and discovered some great music. not only that but when newer groups cover older songs its so much more fun because you actually know the song and you can see how much the younger idols look up to and respect their predecessors.
these new stans forget that their idols also have idols. and those idols also had idols. each generation in built with the help of previous generations. lsm was a musician before 1st gen ever existed, and when 1st gen was just getting started he founded h.o.t and s.e.s as the first ever kpop bg and gg. jyp ent and yg ent wouldnt exist either without the success of park jinyoung and yang hyunsuk as 1st gen idols (i dont particularly like them but i do know their history and understand how they were able to start their companies in the first place). none of these companies would even EXIST today without the hard work of previous generations. 2nd gen wouldnt exist without 1st gen. and 3rd gen wouldnt exist without 1st and 2nd gen. and 4th gen is an accumulation of all the generations that came before. kpop didnt suddenly get good during 4th gen, it has always been good. each generation has great artists.
there are still active idols from all generations and sure they are not top sellers anymore but they don’t need to be. they did their time and they’re happy to let younger idols take the spotlight. but eventually these new gen idols will also age and newer gen idols will take their place. and that’s okay! aging isn’t something to be scared of and once you learn to embrace the ‘older’ idols you will realize that they still have so much to offer because with experience comes growth. tvxq and boa were great as younger idols and now in their 30s they are still young but they also have had time to grow and evolve as artists and so much can learned from them.
if a tvxq member does join superm, i promise the other members WILL be honored to work with their senior because they appreciate and look up to them. this is something the fans need to understand because of their faves are working with tvxq then they’ll be learning directly from experienced artists who have so much to teach. if its changmin then your faves are going to get the opportunity to work with one of the best vocalists in the industry and thats especially critical now when the industry has shifted to favoring powerful dancing and under-training their idols when it comes to vocals. and if its yunho then yes he has a reputation for being a bit intense when it comes to how carefully he watches and advises younger groups but it’s because he takes his role as a senior very seriously and knows it’s his responsibility to look out for the younger idols in the company. he wants them to be the very best that they possibly can, and he's teaching them what he had to learn for himself back in the day. like fans should be grateful if he’s added to superm because he’ll make sure the group meets his standards. the thing is these new fans dont even know that because they havent even put the minimal effort into learning about them to know such basic info about the artists love complain about.
the nctzens have already started again with their complaining about not wanting legendary veteran idols to join superm because ‘nobody wants those irrelevant hags’ 🙄 when will they learn that your 30s is still young and that aging is not something to be afraid of
