hello!
i just wanted to know, what do you think of snow in ff13-2?
snow is one of my favorite characters ever, but in ff13-2 he seemed kind of like weird i guess to me?
it just feels like his characterization was done poorly in that game and solely for the reason of not having him be present for the second game.
i’ve been conflicted, so i’d love to hear you opinion on it!
Hi!
The way Snow is in XIII-2... has me frustrated. The game and novels treat him, his relationship with Serah, and Serah's depression rather... flippantly?
Serah's suffered two years thinking she's the problem. And Snow avoided speaking Lightning's name that entire time... which is unbelievable to me. How do you spend two years like this?
He never reveals his Focus to her, nor does he tell her of the future he sees with her in it. It's maddening how little these two talk.
And that's the crux of the problem for me. I can accept his reasoning for convincing (well, guilting) Serah into staying the first time. I won't get into that, but I think this is an action he is capable of.
I cannot quite reconcile Snow refusing to breach the topic of Lightning's disappearance for two years, nor refusing to reveal important plot-relevant information. Which TBF would've spoiled the massive twist of an ending, but don't you think your fiancee should know to prepare herself!?
It feels so off with how little these two confide in each other, given their history.
They're still young, of course. I don't think their relationship should be treated as a pure, perfect love story. Serah has her reasons for keeping her death a secret; while Snow recklessly moves forward, as he does in XIII.
TBH I even like the flaws present in it, since it gives them something to work on in a post-LR world... but I digress.
I suppose it can be considered rather in-character for Snow to... be the way he is, because his identity is so rooted in being a strong protector and leader. He's not good at being vulnerable. He tries his best to protect Serah and her feelings, but also hurts her... and I do like that.
Anyways, I generally agree that his character was not presented well in XIII-2.
