Sweet As Sin - Part One
Summary: After losing your job and having to spend all of your savings, you find yourself completely broke as you desperately search for a job. On a whim, you join a website for sugar babies and sugar daddies can meet, and youâre surprised when you immediately make a connection with Captain America, of all people. But as you grow closer to Steve, you start to realize that there may be a dark side to Americaâs golden boy.Â
Pairing: SugarDaddy!Steve Rogers x Reader, with eventual Dark!Steve Rogers
Read Part Two here!
After reaching a certain point in life, people generally come to the realization that the old adage of âwhen it rains, it poursâ is true. At least, that was what you were thinking as you walked to your car, cheeks still burning with shame from what had just transpired in the grocery store.
âIâm sorry, maâam, but your card was declined. Do you have any other methods of payment?â
The words echoed in your ears as you drove home; of course you didnât have another method of payment. You hadnât ever since your job laid you off. Youâd been living off of unemployment for a few months now, barely able to afford rent and living off a diet consisting mostly of ramen noodles. Whatâs more, youâd just had to get your car fixed after someone t-boned you at the intersection across from your house. So now, you didnât even have any more savings to fall back on. It was even worse than when youâd been in college; back then, there had at least been a goal in mind. Just graduate, youâd told yourself, and then youâll find a job.
Well, youâd graduated a year ago, and now you were back to where youâd started â broke and desperate.
You slammed the door shut when you entered your apartment, kicking your shoes off before throwing yourself onto the sofa. You lay on your back, looking up at the ceiling as your stomach growled at you.
âYeah, Iâm hungry, too,â you told it. Looks like it was noodles in broth for dinner again, tonight.
Anxiety was constantly clawing at your chest these days, especially now that you were too broke to afford your medication. Later on that evening, you stood over your stove while typing âhow to make money fastâ into Google. It was a cheap shot, one that you didnât foresee getting you anywhere, but it was at least something to take your mind off of things while you waited for the water on the stove to heat up.
That was when you saw the add. âFinding Arrangements â Where beautiful, successful people find mutually beneficial relationshipsâ â basically, a website for Sugar Daddies looking for a pretty set of tits to spend money on. You huffed a laugh and scrolled past it, only to return to it a few seconds later.
You chewed on your lip, pondering the link sitting right there on the screen, so engrossed in your thoughts that you jolted when the water started boiling over, sizzling onto the stovetop beneath it. With a curse, you turned down the heat and added the noodles, stirring them in with the seasoning packet as you thought it over. It wouldnât hurt to check, right? Just a quick glance wouldnât hurt; if you signed up and didnât like any of the people you matched with, you could just delete your profile and pretend it never happened.
Your thoughts lingered on the idea as you sat on the couch, still hungry after finishing your meager meal. Youâd brought the link up on your laptop, and now you were staring at the siteâs homepage. To the right, there was a link to sign up, and to the left, there was a picture of a man in a business suit surrounded by three beautiful women. You gulped, starting to psych yourself out as you stared at the image. But then you closed your eyes and thought about the number in your bank account, and it was enough to motivate you to start typing.
You filled out your personal information and clicked the link the website sent to your email, confirming your new membership. When it came to choose a profile photo, you chose one of yourself from your graduation day. You were standing in your collegeâs auditorium, wearing a dress made out of gold fabric that was covered with thick black lace; it was your favorite picture of yourself, and you hoped that the dress wasnât too revealing. It had a high neckline, but it had only come down to about mid-thigh.
You filled out the âAbout Meâ section and then paused when you came to the next question â What are you looking for in a relationship? You thought for a moment, biting your lip and turning over your words before starting to type again.
This is my first time trying out a relationship like this, you wrote. So I would like to find someone who I can trust to guide me through it. In return, I would like to be able to give my (you cringed as you typed the next two words) Sugar Daddy a fulfilling, comfortable relationship in return.
After reviewing your profile, you uploaded it, forcing yourself to sit back from your laptop and breathe. It was out there now; people would see it. Wealthy, presumably powerful people would see it. You closed your computer and hurried to put a movie on, choosing one of your old favorites; it had helped you when you were feeling anxious before.
By the time you finished the movie, youâd mostly calmed down, controlling your nerves until they were just a dull ache in your chest. Before you stood up and went to bed, you checked your phone, eyes bulging when you saw that you already had five replies to your profile.
You opened your notifications, scrolling through the different profiles. Four of them were from men with one of them being from a woman. Your nose wrinkled up when you saw that one of the men were in his 70s, and you quickly deleted his message without even reading it. The next one was in his early 50s, and his profile picture was of him standing in front of a car that looked like it cost more than the entirety of your college tuition. You didnât delete his message, but you definitely felt dismayed as you skimmed through the rest of them.
You paused, though, when you saw the last one. His profile said that he was 38, making him the youngest of those that had replied to you. His username was Captain_Grant, and his profile only showed his silhouette outlined against a setting sun. The only thing you could see about his features were his defined, slightly-crooked nose and the shadow of a beard against his jawline, but you were more interested in seeing the message heâd sent you.
Good evening, miss. I hope youâre having a nice day. I saw on your profile that you liked to read?
You furrowed your eyebrows, laughing a little. The other ones had pretty much sent you the same thing â âhiâ. One of them had had the courtesy of adding a smiley face afterwards, but the fact that this guy had actually taken the time to read your profile made him stand out amongst the rest.
Good evening, you typed back. I do love to read; right now Iâm in the middle of a great book.
His reply came only about a minute after you sent your response.
Whatâs it called?
You typed out the title of the book. After another minute, Captain sent you a picture. You held your breath as you opened the attachment, praying that it wasnât a dick pic, and you were pleasantly surprised to see a photo of a bookshelf. The book youâd mentioned was resting on it along with a few others by the same author.
Iâm a fan of theirs, too, as you can see.
You grinned and got up, taking a quick photo of your own bookshelf and sending it to him. Youâd bought it from IKEA years ago, and its thin shelves had started to sag under the weight of all of your books, but you loved it anyways.
You have quite the collection, miss.
You chuckled at how polite he was and sent him a message that he call you by your first name.
âMissâ just seems so formal, donât you think?
I was going more for polite, but I see what you mean. Well, then, you should call me Steve. âCaptainâ isnât really formal so much as itâs just weird. âŚIâve been told Iâm not good at picking out profile names.
You giggled at that; Steve seemed like a dork. But a cute one.
I think your profile name is great, for the record, but Iâll stick with Steve. What made you join this website, Steve?
It took him a few minutes to respond, and you worried for a second that youâd asked something too personal. But as you got ready for bed, you saw that heâd finally responded.
Iâm an old fashioned kinda guy, and in the past Iâve been told that Iâm a bit tooâŚoverbearing in a relationship. But Iâve always believed that a man should take care of the woman heâs with. So a friend of mine suggested this site, and I figured I would try it out. Youâre the first girl who I liked enough to send a message to, though.
You smiled at that, feeling warmth bloom in your chest.
What made me different from the rest?
All the other girls on here only talked about what they wanted to get out of a relationship in their profiles. You were the only one who mentioned what she wanted to give.
You felt as if butterflies were flying around your stomach, and your thumbs started typing of their own accord.
Do you think we could meet sometime? Maybe grab a cup of coffee?
I would love to, doll. Iâm out of the country right now, but I get back in a week. How about we meet up then? Your profile said you live in Brooklyn; is that right?
It sure is; Iâve lived here ever since I finished college.
Youâre a girl after my own heart; I grew up in Brooklyn. Thereâs a bagel shop that also serves coffee that I highly recommend. We could meet there if youâre up for it.
You didnât even think before you answered him back.
I wouldnât miss it for the world.
________
Over the next three days, you and Steve messaged each other as much as possible. He was so easy to talk to; youâd almost forgotten about the financial element of your relationship. During the day, when he was busy with work, you found yourself missing him. Right around the evening, you would start jumping for your phone any time it buzzed, and your heart would sink with disappointment when it wasnât Steve.
You were on such a high from meeting Steve that youâd forgotten all about the things that were causing you anxiety. That was, until your landlord sent you an email talking about how rent was going to be raised an extra $50 each month. The news had washed over you like a bucket of iced water, sending you into the worst panic attack youâd had since college.
Youâd spent the next few hours either pacing across your living room or crying in bed, curled up as that same feeling of helplessness that had haunted you for the past few months settled over you heavily. You hadnât even realized that your phone was buzzing. At least, not until the fifth or sixth buzz. Wiping away your tears, you pulled your phone out of your pocket and opened it up, seeing several missed messages from Steve.
Hey, doll, just got done with work for the day.
How was your day?
You ok, doll? Youâre usually around by now.
Are you ok?
Iâm sorry for hovering, Iâm just worried about you.
You there?
You felt guilt settle over you as you began to type with trembling fingers.
Iâm so sorry, Steve. I just had a really rough day; I didnât even realize that my phone was going off.
His reply was instantaneous.
God, you scared me, doll. Are you alright? What happened?
My landlord raised the rent by an entire $50. Rent is due by the end of the week, and I have no idea how to come up with the money.
You sniffled and waited for him to reply, and when he did you felt you felt your tears subside for a brief moment.
Is that all? Thatâs why Iâm here, hon. Do you have a PayPal?
Steve⌠Are you sure? This is so much.
You could almost hear his laughter in his next reply.
Doll, I promise that $50 is NOT a lot to me. Besides, thatâs part of this whole thing, isnât it? Me taking care of you?
But I havenât done anything for you in returnâŚ
He waited a few more minutes before responding.
Well⌠What if you did something for me tonight? Would that make you feel better?
Your felt your heart start to beat faster at his words, wondering what he would have you do.
What do you have in mind? you replied, trying to keep your words neutral.
Give me your phone number and let me call you?
Your breath puffed out at such a simple response, and you sent him your number without a second thought.
A few seconds later, your phone began to came, and unknown number appearing on your screen. You took a deep breath, feeling your heartrate skyrocket once more; youâd only known him for a few days, and yet a simple phone call from him was enough to make you feel breathless.
You fumbled with your phone, accepting the call and hesitantly raising it up to your ear.
âHello?â
âHey, doll. Itâs Steve. Although⌠Well, that was probably obvious, right?â
Your laugh sounded more like a hiccup, and you cringed at the sound, trying to blink away the tears that were still trying to escape.
âHi, Steve,â was all you could sigh. âItâsâŚreally good to hear your voice.â
And it really was; it was somehow even better than youâd imagined it â not terribly deep, but warm, so warm that you wish you could curl up and get him to read bedtime stories to you.
âHave you been crying?â he asked, a touch of worry working its way into his voice.
âOh, um⌠Yeah,â you sighed. âThis whole rent thing has really got me anxious.â
âIâm so sorry, sweetheart,â he replied. âCan you give me your email address?â
You gave it to him, hearing the typing of a keyboard in the background.
âThanks, doll. Just give me a minute, ok? Iâm still trying to get better with my typing skills.â
You chuckled, picturing him typing with his two pointer fingers, but you still didnât understand what he was asking you to give him a minute with.
âWhat are you doing, Steve?â you asked.
âJust wait; Iâm almost done.â
After a few more seconds of typing, you felt your phone buzz, and you pulled it away to see that it was an email from PayPal. Your eyes went wide as you opened it, audibly gasping when you saw the message waiting for you when you opened your account. You have $250 waiting to be accepted.
âSteve!â You heard his laugh from the other line, and for a second you were caught off guard; you immediately loved the sound more than youâd loved any other laugh youâd ever encountered.
âThis is too much!â you cried out. âI only needed $50! Steve, Iâm no mathematician, but you gave me two hundred more than that!â
Steve only laughed again.
âI wonât apologize for taking care of my girl,â he said, making your cheeks heat up at the term of endearment. âYou deserve it; youâve had a rough day. Go out and get a massage, or buy something nice for yourself. Do something thatâll relieve some stress.â
Your eyes went half-lidded for a second at the thought of a massage; you couldnât remember the last massage youâd gotten. But no; you needed to be smart with your money.
âWell⌠Thank you, Steve,â you sighed. âI canât tell you how much I appreciate it.â
âEvery penny is worth getting to hear your voice,â he murmured. âItâs even prettier than I imagined it.â
âSteveâŚnoâŚâ
âNo?â
âYou gotta stop saying such nice things. Itâs bad enough through text; actually hearing you say them is gonna make me spontaneously combust.â
Steveâs laughed rumbled across the receiver once more.
âWell try your best not to. At least not until we meet face-to-face.â
âTell me about it. I still donât know what you look like.â
You could tell by his voice that Steve was smiling when he spoke next.
âWhat do you imagine I look like?â
You grinned and stretched out in bed, your anxiety from before completely melting away.
âWell⌠Youâre probably tall,â you started. âNo⌠Youâre definitely tall. I can tell.â
âReally? What gave it away?â
âYou just seem like a tall person.â He chuckled at that, but you kept going on. âI could tell from your profile picture that you have a beard, and I bet you keep it trimmed all nice and neat. And⌠Iâm going to guess that you have brown hair.â
âWell, Iâll be back in three days. Thereâs only one way for you to find out if youâre right.â
âI know. Still planning on the bagel shop at 9 am sharp, right? On Sunday?â
âAbsolutely, doll. Itâs a date.â
_______
The next day, you were able to pay your rent early, much to your landlordâs delight. After that, you decided that you would treat yourself to some actual groceries. Having a full shopping cart was a novelty to you; usually, you would load up with a basket containing ramen, maybe some chicken, some eggs, and whatever toiletries you needed. But today, you actually put together a meal plan and a list before going shopping.
Later on that day, you were grinning ear to ear as you put your purchases away in your tiny kitchen. There were green things in your fridge again! And they werenât mold!
You were cooking a late breakfast for yourself when your phone rang, and you let out an excited squeak when you saw who it was.
âSteve!â
âWow; someone sounds happy today.â
âI just got back from the grocery store,â you told him. âThanks to a very wonderful, generous person, I was able to get food! Like, fancy food!â
âFancy food, huh? What kind of fancy food?â
âUm⌠Well, I got stuff for salads! And Iâm going to make a casserole for dinner. And I have some pasta, some beef, some taco stuff-â
ââŚBaby, that doesnât really sound like fancy food. It sounds like regular groceries.â
âWell, itâs fancy compared to what I usually eat,â you pointed out.
âAnd what is that?â
ââŚUmâŚRamen, mostly. Not that I mind! Itâs better than nothing. Iâve got really creative with ramen recipes; itâs a skill I learned in college.â
Steve let out an exasperated sigh.
âThatâs gonna have to change,â he asserted. âFrom now on, Iâll take you grocery shopping once a week, and I want you to get food with actual nutrients in it. Understood?â
You grinned as you flipped the omelet in the pan.
âOnly if you let me cook for you sometime,â you bargained. You felt your cheeks heat up when he let out a groan.
âGod, I canât remember the last time I had a home-cooked meal,â he sighed. âI wish I could come back sooner.â
âYou can make it for two more days,â you said. âI believe in you.â
âWell, Iâm glad someone does.â
The two of you talked until your breakfast was ready, and for the rest of the day you worked on applying for jobs. You kept the news on your tv at a low volume, but later on, while you were cooking your casserole, you heard something about Moscow that made you perk up; Steve had mentioned that he was in Moscow on his business trip.
You hurried to pull the casserole out of the oven and place it on a cooling rack before jogging into the living room and turning up the volume.
ââŚ.in Moscow today. It is reported that the small terrorist organization was eliminated by Captain America, Natasha Romanoff, and a group of American agents with them. Luckily, the attempted bombing was stopped before there could be any casualties.â
You watched as the footage cut to Captain America standing in front of a group of reporters, decked out in his uniform with his signature shield strapped to his back. He shifted on his feet, looking out over the room before starting to speak.
âIâm relieved to inform you that the terrorist threat has been eliminated,â he began, and you frowned at how familiar his voice sounded. If you didnât know any better, then you would think that it was Steve talking to you, your Steve, but you knew the idea was ridiculous. You smiled at the thought; youâd have to ask him later on if anybody else had noticed the similarity.
âThe group was small and disorganized, and we believe that they acted independently of any larger organization,â he continued. âOur men and woman, however, are keeping a close eye on any and all other suspicious activity in this and the surrounding countries. For now, we advise you to rest easy, and-â
You muted the tv once more, heading into the kitchen to grab a plate of food. You sat down on your couch and pulled your phone out, dialing Steveâs number. You frowned when you reached his answering machine, but you left a message anyways.
âHi, Steve! I just saw something on the news about a terrorist group in Moscow⌠I guess I just wanted to call and make sure you were okay. Just shoot me a text or give me a call when youâre able to. Iâll talk to you soon!â
After that, you ate your food, reveling in having something on your stomach other than the same old noodles. It was while you were wrapping your casserole to put in in the fridge that Steve called you back, and you rushed to answer the phone.
âHello!â
âHi, doll,â Steve sighed.
âYou sound so tired.â
âYeah⌠I guess I am. It was, uh⌠A rough day at work. But the good news is that I get to come home a day early. Think we could move our date to tomorrow?â
âTomorrow? You can get here all the way from Moscow tonight?â
âSure can. Iâm on the plane right now.â
âWow. Talk about company benefitsâŚâ Steve chuckled, and you smiled fondly as you closed the fridge. âI worried about you when I heard about the terrorists. Is everything ok? No one you knew got hurt, did they?â
âNah, weâre fine, doll. But youâre sweet to ask.â
âWell, I saw Captain America talking on the news about it and just wanted to make sure. Hey, have you ever noticed that you sound a lot like him?â
âUh⌠You think I sound like Captain America?â Steve seemed flustered, and you grinned as you walked back to your couch.
âYeah; you guys have practically the same voice,â you grinned. âCrazy coincidence, right? You sound like him; you have the same first name⌠And did you know that heâs grown a beard since-â
âHey, doll? The plane is experiencing some turbulence. Would it be ok if I let you go?â
âOh. Yeah! Sure thing, Steve. But weâre still planning on tomorrow morning?â
âYou betcha. Iâll see you at 9, and Iâll text you the address.â
âSee you soon!â
With that, he hung up, and a few minutes later you received the text with the address. You sent him back a smiley face before getting ready for bed; you would need to get up early to get ready for your date.
It took you a while to fall asleep that night; your mind wouldnât shut off. Over and over again, it would play possible scenarios of how meeting Steve might go â about what he would look like, what you two would talk about. Eventually, though, you were able to fall into a peaceful slumber, and even your dreams seemed happy that night.
______
You surveyed yourself in the mirror, looking for any imperfections that needed to be sorted out before you left. Youâd somehow wrangled your hair into a nice-looking style, although you were pretty sure youâd killed half of the remaining ozone layer with how much hair spray youâd had to use to keep it that way. You were wearing a red set of leggings with an oversized, cream-colored sweater overtop it; despite the fact that the clothes were old, they still looked good, and you hated the fact that you didnât have better shoes to complete the ensemble. You pulled on your black high-top Converse, deciding that they were the best looking pair of shoes you had, and you checked yourself out in the mirror one more time before walking out the door.
The bagel shop was only fifteen minutes away from where you lived, but the drive seemed to last for fifteen seconds and fifteen eternities all at once. You tried in vain to calm the frantic beating of your heart, but it was still pounding by the time you pulled up in front of the restaurant. You took a short moment to calm yourself, letting out a deep breath before getting out of your car.
You tried to walk with confidence as you walked into the bagel shop, inhaling the scent of baked bread, cinnamon, and coffee that lay heavy in the air. The walls inside were painted a bright, sky blue, and black-and-white sketches were hanging on the walls. The entire wall behind the display case had been turned into a chalkboard, and the various menu items were written across it in neat cursive font. One of your favorite songs from the 60âs was playing over the radio, and you smiled; you already knew that this place would become one of your regular hang outs.
At the moment, though, your eyes were scanning the shop for Steve. All you knew about him was that he had a beard; that is, if he hadnât shaved it since taking his profile picture. There were only a few people dotted around the room, and most of them were with someone else. In fact, there were only two people there who were sitting alone. One of them was sitting at a nearby table, and he was a man who looked to be in his late 50âs; you hoped to God that he wasnât Steve.
The only other person there was sitting at a table in the far corner, and he had his back to you. His hair was blonde and slicked back neatly, and his shoulders were incredibly broad. Letting out a sigh, you started walking towards him, wringing your hands as you grew nearer.
âSteve?â you finally asked when you were close, and you saw him straighten up.
When he turned around to face you, though, your eyes grew wide and your lips parted in surprise. There had to be some mistake; this couldnât be him.
âI⌠Iâm sorry,â you stuttered. âIâm here to meet, umâŚâ
Captain America, or rather, Steve gave you a soft, sheepish smile, and he stood up to face you.
âHey, doll,â he sighed.
ââŚI can explain.â

thanks for the binder
My father wrote me a book, and I havenât read it. My father and I are as alike as any father and daughter have any right to be, in spirit, temperament, and assuredness of our capability. I tell you this because the book is about him, and thus, essentially about me, and thatâs not the only reason I canât read it. If I read the book, he will obviously die. If I donât read the book, he will definitely, without question, also die, but a different death. Neither more sad nor terrible than the other, but different in their command over bad guilt or dumb grief. I will either feel like dying myself because I did not read it when he was alive, or I will be so adept at imagining him dead I will be weeping at his non-grave, sitting across from him at the table as he lowers the newspaper to look curiously at his weeping daughter. It is also with certainty that reading the book will kill me, either with love so deep it drowns me in profound agony, or in that I will see how light and fire and good personalities burn out into dusty pieces of ash, particles we breathe in and sneeze out on a bus while strangers glare passively in our general direction. We are all just piles of molecules, dead on arrival. What and why, etc. Reading the book will kill us both, and not reading it is killing us both, and being dead either way does not make approaching it any less dreadful. So instead I just hold the plastic three-ring binder from somewhere like Staples because he doesnât know you can just find that kind of thing at Walgreens. And when all I have is that binder, he would be paper cuts and glue coming undone from photos with no jpegs or even negatives, just the one photo of the one thing that he stuck to a page for his daughter so she could be proud of him so one day she could cry so hard hoping so profoundly that he had been proud of her. So, I canât read the book because I have to. I donât have a choice. I bring this up because weâre both in good health and I am deeply superstitious, and sometimes I like to wave things in the face of my superstition to see what comes of them. Also, because one of the characters in the novel I am writing is based on my dad, and that character dies, so Iâve been crying a lot. This novel has been a long-time coming, in that the characters first came to me in 2014. Thus far they have been very patient with me, but I could feel them rumbling, packing their things or dying somewhere in my computer, and I knew I needed to act quickly. I booked a room up the California coast where no one could ask me, well, anything, and I started to write again. Kill your darlings doesnât always mean slogging them off with machetes, but sometimes cutting their character information and pasting it into a document of Dead Darlings, ctrl+Fâing their name, and deletingâwatching the word count fall with them. Sorry, Hannah. Sorry, Red. Once upon a time, I wrote frequently for free, and now I write infrequently for money. And that, as far as I can tell for myself, has not resulted in the kind of life I want. But this is a hard thing for me to parse. Some coworkers read this (hi! Please donât tell me if you read this) and I would very much like to keep my well-paying job so I can continue to fantasize about buying a home so that one day I can do things like paint a wall yellow and then wonder if it was a bad idea. I also would like (for no reason I can discern other than growing up middle class in Ohio) to own a big truck with big wheels with a big engine so I can joyfully drive to the back of every parking lot because thatâs the only place it will fit. And these things cost more money than I was making writing for free, as you can surmise by the word âfree.â A year or so ago, I was taking the Yale course on Happiness through Coursera (of course not knowing when I was rejected from Yale as an insulted 17-year-old that I eventually could take all the interesting classes for free without ever doing the homework.) Â It prompted me to take a happiness survey. I love quizzes about my personality (which any personality quiz will tell you about me right away â Type 7, ENFP.) When I went to create an account, it told me I could not. An account under that email already existed. I cocked my head like a dog at the computer to emphasize to myself my own confusion, and I turned immediately to the search bar of my email to get to the bottom of this. It turns out, I had taken the exact same quiz some 4 years prior. And the results were still in my account. The internet giveth. But, of course, the internet also taketh away: upon taking the quiz again, I was happier, but not by much. This didnât make sense. In 2014, I had an emotionally abusive boyfriend, lived in a 150 sq ft room where I was not allowed to make noise (!), and often couldnât leave work for spans of 30 hours at a time. But in the 2018 quiz, I was making significantly more money working fewer hours, I was in a happy and supportive relationship, I lived in a cool ass house with cool ass pets â where was my goddamned happiness? I took that quiz in November and assuming youâre currently experiencing time the same way that I am, it is now March, wait, no, itâs April, and I spent the last five months carefully examining what made me happy and what didnât. And like any person whoâs had to have the phrase âforest for the treesâ explained to them multiple times, I couldnât see what was painfully obvious to 97% of people who knew me: when Iâm not writing, Iâm not happy. And Iâm not talking about tagline writing, or UX writing, or writing scripts for product features, or writing about bike rentals in Ventura, or any of the writing I was actually doing. I could still slip into flow on those things. I could still get excited and get lost in the rhythm, but upon completion, it felt like planning a trip with friends only for them all to have something come up, and the plan get pushed another indefinite year. At some point, you just have to take the trip yourself, and I thought that trip would be this newsletter, but Iâve struggled to write more newsletters because of two things: why buy the cow, etc., but also because it feels like there needs to be a point. And while I suspect those are beliefs I should investigate and dismantle, today I happen to have a point, so here it is: If doing something doesnât feel right and you donât need to do it to survive, you should probably do less of it. And if there is something you feel called to do, but feel you donât have time to do it, you should probably take a long hard look at your calendar and (oh boy) your choices. Itâs been five years since I sat down with these characters, and in the meantime, my dad sat down and transcribed his entire life pre-my-mom with photos. Itâs page after page of wild parties, broke down cars, school dropouts, ski towns, jumping out of airplanes, fighting fire, and living in the wilderness all so his daughter could be like, âsorry Dad, I canât book a ski trip 3 months in advance because thereâs no way this tech company with 250 other employees could find a way to replace my somewhat vague skill-set for a Friday. Also I gave up on my dreams. Thanks for the book." Holding the three-ringed binder, looking at the printed title page heâd slipped under the plastic cover, feeling such pride and love it could distort the proportions of the room, I knew when I would be ready to read it: when I could send my dad my finished manuscript so he could read what heâd made of me while I read what heâd made of himself. So I'm in a cottage up the coast from where I live, away from the cat in my lap and the dog at my side, away from morning coffees and goodbye kisses, far far away from bosses and emails, and the farthest away from what doesn't feel right in order to get closer to what does.Â
Thanks for reading. Subscribe to the newsletter here.Â

DISCLAIMER AND RULES
These are the UPDATED directions/guidelines for all who want to participate/contribute to this blog. Our topics of conversation revolve mostly around 30 Seconds to Mars/the Leto Bros, but we have been known to also discuss various other current events around the world.
By reading, and especially by contributing, on what goes on around this blog, you are willingly agreeing with all guidelines and directions I have mentioned below - no exceptions.
I am willing to give a space to those who wish to discuss Mars (or other topics), and I am washing my hands from any and all fuckery that may ensue from other people´s opinions.
Also worth mentioning: I am fully aware that some people who publicly and very vocally denounce any interest in either this blog or Mars gossip lurk around this blog and then spread shit elsewhere on the internet.Â
By doing that, you are essentially outing yourself as a quiet kmp78 admirer, so to speak.Â
Or a fangirl, if that suits better. đ¤
Alright then... READ.
1. This blog is laced with sarcasm, jokes, stupid and often very dark humor and PERSONAL OPINIONS - both mine and the people who participate in our conversations. This is not CNN, BBC or even Fox News - this is a personal blog run by a (sort of) fan. Not someone with inside information, and not someone whose opinions and views should be taken too seriously, and definitely not as gospel. I have no direct access to anyone in the Mars organization, and I do not work for them.
2. Nor do I work for YOU. This may be a blog which is mainly used for discussions about all things Mars and all opinions and topics are welcome, but the only one in charge is ME. I decide if a message gets published, if a message gets edited, if a message gets deleted - and if the sender gets blocked.
And not that it really needs to be said, but here goes anyway: I do not work for any Leto troll either.
3. And speaking of blocking:Â
those who send threats or offensive messages will be blocked, as will anyone who I deem block-worthy. Rest assured, I never block anyone without a reason, so if you should discover that you have been blocked, that means I had a reason. I may or may not inform publicly when a person has been blocked, depends on my mood.
4. Everyone who sends messages is responsible for their own words - I do not accept any blame for other people´s opinions. Misunderstandings by accident or on purpose are not my headache. If I suspect a message will potentially cause unnecessary problems or annoyance for me, I will not post it (or will edit it), and I don´t owe anyone any explanations as to why I´m not posting it. I may explain, or not - that´s up for me to decide.Â
In any case, as I said: I will not take responsibility for anyone else´s words other than mine, and screaming at me over here or elsewhere online regarding comments someone else made and I posted...
Well, that´s just infantile. đ
5. All opinions are welcome, positive AND negative. A positive opinion does not automatically make you a sheep, and a negative opinion does not automatically make you a hater.Â
Readers to this blog should be adult enough to handle both sides.
6. Calling women sluts or whores is not ok here.Â
You also need to be able to tell the difference between calling a woman a whore and calling a Leto a whore. If you can´t understand the difference, then get out immediately.
SPECIAL CLAUSE:
the term âYACHT GIRLâ when used in connection with an actually legit model who YOU ARE JEALOUS OF BECAUSE SHE GETS TO BONE A MAN YOUR FLABBY LOINS BURN FOR, actually is the equivalent of you calling her a whore, so kindly DO NOT.
Use whatever brain cells your parents genes bestowed upon you and make them at least somewhat proud. That should hopefully partially make up for the disappointment they most probably are already feeling knowing you actually read and participate in this shit.
7. What is also not ok is accusing people of crimes, calling them psychopaths, or threatening others with physical violence etc. - not even sarcastically or as jokes.
Think of it this way:Â
when typing your message, if at any point you think that what you are writing might come across differently or more seriously to the person reading it than to you while writing it - then do not write it. Any innuendo about people´s potential âsocial diseasesâ is not welcome either, and neither are accusations of âobsessionsâ and people âstalkingâ the men this blog is focused on. Be VERY careful when using these terms.Â
YOU are responsible for your own words. I cannot stress that enough.đŁ
8. We use a lot of initials and nicknames in our conversations - for a reason.Â
Do not use people´s real names in messages.Â
If you do not know who a particular person is, please come ask via chat (directions on how to use the chat feature can be found here). I may or may not blur out a name in a message if I think it´s necessary.
9. I post a lot of pics, gifs - and most of them are found from Google using various search terms, and sadly have no tags or indications as to who is the owner/maker. I don´t own any of the pics or gifs, or videos for that matter either (except the ones I have made and labeled as my own). If you find something of yours posted and prefer not to have it up or to have your name added as credits, please let me know and I will remove it.
As for links to either newspaper articles, IG accounts, other blogs or the like: you can find credits to the sources by either clicking on the links, or if I have decided to post screen caps, in the pics themselves. Again, I do not write articles or make videos and very, very rarely post anything other than other people´s comments - after all, this is prominently a discussion blog now. Opinions/messages from other people represent THEIR views and thoughts, my views/thoughts can be seen in my answers (in case of submits or multi-part messages, you will find my contributions to the message after this sign: ***).
To make this very clear: we don´t make news here, we discuss them.
10. When sending submits, if you are unsure of others potentially seeing your âIDâ, please mention in your message that you want to remain anon and I will post it anon. Also please remember tho that there is no such thing as complete anonymity - so be careful when writing down your thoughts. Censor yourself if necessary - don´t make problems for me or others, or yourself.
11. I use Statcounter on this blog, which means I can see IP addresses from people visiting this site. However I choose to use that information is up to me, so if you are scared shitless of being outed due to your own actions/words, then DO NOT COME HERE.
If I out your IP, then there is a reason for it.
Don´t give me reasons if you want to remain in the shadows.
(And same goes for chat messages btw: don´t pretend to be my friend in private, but then turn your back and stab me in it in public. More often than not I WILL find out, and if I choose to then out your bullshit by posting private messages, THAT´S ALL YOUR OWN DOING, KIDDOS.
Play nice with me and you have nothing to worry about.
Start kicking dirt in my face and...đ¤ˇââď¸
12. If you are addressing your message directly to someone (= other than me), please say so CLEARLY in your message, for example by starting your message with âFor anon who said...â, or something along those line. I have had it with misunderstandings and unnecessary messes due to unclear messages! BE SPECIFIC!
13. ONLY write either in English or Finnish. I won´t waste my time on Google Translate, I have enough on my plate as it is and your weirdo mongrel lingos are boring as hell anyway.
14. DO NOT SEND MESSAGES WITH THE SOLE PURPOSE OF STIRRING UP SHIT - OR TO INSULT OTHER COUNTRIES OR NATIONALITIES. That would rank quite high the PATHETIC categories...
15. I won´t post content from so-called private/non-celeb accounts such as Leto trolls (= VK for example IS a celeb so whatever she posts is most deffo getting posted, but anything posted by Lesser´s harem probs won´t be).
16. READ PREVIOUS MESSAGES! READ PREVIOUS MESSAGES! READ PREVIOUS MESSAGES! READ PREVIOUS MESSAGES! READ PREVIOUS MESSAGES!Â
I´m beyoooooooond bored answering the same questions over and over again, sometimes in the space of just a few hours! The archives and search option are available on my blog for a reason! USE THEM. đ
17. When sending messages containing info or âreceiptsâ or whatever it may be that you think we should be made aware of, either clearly state WHERE that info can be found and WHO you are talking about. Do not simply send a message a´la âVK can be seen on Monica´s/Richard´s/Beatrice´s IGâ. We don´t know who these people are! You may, but we don´t! I do not follow a single model or fashion industry creeper on social media so FIRST NAMES mean fuck all to me. GIVE FULL DETAILS OR SHUT THE FUCK UP.Â
18. IF I SAY A TOPIC IS OFF-LIMITS, THEN YOU WILL RESPECT THAT.
19. I usually try to post messages in the same order they have been sent - with a few exceptions:Â
If a situation arises which calls for âimmediate attentionâ (new troll pics or other sudden Mars-related activity, for example), I may leave older messages for later and focus on newer ones first. Also when I am operating on my mobile, I am often unable to post certain messages (videos etc.), so those will be left for later when I am back to an actual computer.Â
20. More often than not, tumblr fails to deliver messages to my inbox. If you suspect that yours has not been delivered, please send it again. I don´t mind getting duplicates.
21. If I feel that a message offers no relevant or needed content, I won´t post it. For example, a message such as âJL & XX in Japan bang bangâ is unnecessary and pointless and not worth posting. I only have 250 allowed posts per day, and on busy days I have to make judgments on what is worthy of posting and what is not. I apologize if I therefore have to skip some messages.Â
When I run out of allowed posts here, I will let everyone know that I am switching over to use the secondary blog which can be found at @kmp78secondaryblog
(PLEASE NOTE: That blog is ONLY used when we run out of room here, and I never go there unless I have to so please don´t send any messages to that blog unless I inform we have to move there!)
AND FINALLY PLEASE REMEMBER:
THIS IS A FANDOM FOR A BAND. NOT A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. ACT ACCORDINGLY.
Creating hater accounts dedicated to POSTING PICTURES OF MY BLOODY EYEBALL (that btw actually happened because of course it did! This is the echeLOOOOOON after all! đ) won´t make me quit this blog, so...
Yeah.
Anyway, for further information, please contact me via private message here, on my IGs, or at [email protected].
Thank you. đ
PS: In case you run into accounts/comments made under my tumblr âidentityâ, or otherwise unauthorized âkmp78âł activity outside of tumblr which you recognize as being linked to this blog in any way (such as my posts being tagged with JL´s tags etc.), please report them immediately, both to the admins of the sites you found these accounts on, and to me directly so I can take appropriate action, thanks.
Any of my personal pics taken from this blog have been taken without permission and I have never and will never give permission to post them anywhere. And when I say I âappropriate actionâ, I mean just that. If need be, I will be contacting the authorities, like I did when I received public death threats.Â
Be very aware that my tolerance for that is less than zero - and also be aware that these guidelines and my rules may change whenever I feel the need to change them.

Rules & Verses for Mobile:
Having had these requested for my Finn account, I thought I should go ahead and make some mobile-accessible rules/verses for the rest of my accounts too, so here are Reyâs! (This also includes the various parental backstories I will play for her.) Note that while I donât change my rules much (or basically ever lol) the VERSES information here is definitely not going to be up-to-date because I am forever making new ausâŚbut hereâs a start, at least, to give you something to explore until you get back to your computers!
Mun is named Nicky and is well over 21. Museâs age will vary. Multi-ship and multi-verse.
RULES:
Following and Mututals:
This is a sideblog of nickyrp and as such cannot follow back.
We do not need to be mutuals to send memes or starters. Feel free to throw things like that at me at any time even if weâve never played or plotted before. If Iâm not interested or just too busy etc I promise I will let you know politely and not just leave you hanging!
If you want to play please send me a message or toss me a starter; Iâm bad at paying attention to my follower count and probably didnât notice your subtle arrival! Or thought you wanted to lurk idk. Say hi!
If you are a multimuse with a lot of characters or a lot of fandoms all on one url, I may not follow you because that tends to be overwhelming for me. Itâs nothing personal nor a comment on your writing style; itâs just more than I can easily keep track of, myself. (Thatâs why mine are all on their own sideblogs.)
If I canât read your blog (small text, low-contrast colors, etc) I will not interact with your character. I donât have the best eyes and straining to read sucks all the fun out of rp. If you need any of my formatting or color choices adjusted for your own ease of accessibility please let me know! I will do so happily.
You can reblog any of my shit (headcanons, graphics, verses, meta, whatever) even if youâre a personal blog, I donât care; itâs all one fandom imo. That said please donât reblog my interaction threads with other people because most rp-ers do not like their things reblogged and I want to respect that. If I reblog anything of yours you do not want reblogged just let me know and I will delete it; I promise itâs just because I thought the thing was cool and got excited!
Interactions:
I am always up for trying new things so if you have a crazy idea, please hit me up! I promise I rarely disintegrate anyone.
I am happily open to interacting with Original Characters! I need to know who your character is though, so if you donât have a bio or background I can find on your blog Iâm not going to be interested.
I will not write smut with anyone under the age of eighteen.
If I ever do something that upsets or confuses or offends you, please let me know. It probably wasnât intentional and I always want to be called out on problematic behavior because how else can I learn to do better? I promise to react apologetically, not defensively.
Formatting:
Iâm a visual person so I like icons and gifs and will almost always incorporate them. If you donât want to use images thatâs cool with me, but I majored in comic book art so I enjoy the marriage of words with images. I should further admit that interactions with visuals do tend to keep me more excited than plain ones â Iâm shallow!
Iâm not a big fan of fancy formatting. I donât mind if you use it but I donât. Feel free to adjust my formatting to suit your aesthetic if that makes you more comfortable, but Iâll likely keep mine simple.
If you need any triggers tagged message me and Iâll do so gladly.
Canon & AUs:
I have as of yet read very little of the expanded universe materials for the New Canon (a few comics, the Thrawn novel, etc). As such, my portrayal of Rey may at times be lacking in regards to supplemental canon information. Please never hesitate to inform me of any details relevant to your character or any ongoing/burgeoning threads. I appreciate that assistance!
As far as the Legends EU goes, I have read most of the old novels (excepting NJO period) and many of the Dark Horse comics but that is a lot of material and I do not promise to remember everything. Please let me know if I make a mistake or assumption you do not agree with; I promise I will not be offended!
I will generally default to putting Rey into the canon of the Sequel Trilogy because that is where she comes from, but I am happy to play her in Legends Canon too â just let me know! If you donât indicate verse/time on a meme or starter, I might pick another verse (or make a new one) so please indicate where you want to play if you have a preference!
I also love making AUs whether canon-divergence or totally off-the-wall so please donât hesitate to throw new verses my way! I love both plotting and winging-it when building new worlds, so donât be shy!
Characters Relationships & Shipping:
Platonic Ships: I generally enjoy Rey without any ships and am thus extraordinarily eager for friendships, familial relationships, and Found Family interactions. (Antagonistic and abrasive interactions are also welcome â it doesnât have to be all sweetness and light all the time!) Rey very much wants to be loved, but it isnât romance she is primarily looking for. I will usually write Rey as being either an aromantic or biromatic asexual.
OTPs: That said, I do thoroughly enjoy the idea of a Finn/Rey/Poe polyship and would be thrilled to play out interactions under that set-up. I will also happily ship her with either of those two gentlemen on their own, or with Rose Tico or Jess Pava or Jannah or really anyone whom it makes sense to ship her with, providing there is chemistry and a basis in friendship to build the ship from (whether that be formed via interaction or plotted ahead of time). Interspecies ships with non-human characters are also welcome!
NOTPs: No teacher/student, adult/minor, or incestuous ships, please. Additionally I will not ship Rey with Kylo Ren in any verse. I have no objections to playing in verses where they are not related, but due to the fact that I started thinking of them them as siblings about five minutes into my first viewing of TFA (the Jaina/Jacen vibes were too strong for my Legends-based heart, sorry!), it is simply something that I am not comfortable shipping regardless of their actual familial status in a verse or lack thereof. Please tag your reylo so I can block it?
One-Way Ships: I will never force a ship on you. I expect the same courtesy in return. That said, you are more than welcome to have your character express unrequited romantic feelings toward mine. (In most cases I expect Iâd even be okay with this sort of one-way attraction coming from a Kylo Ren character; if it ends up crossing the edges of my comfort zone Iâll let you know!)
Main Faceclaim: Daisy Ridley [older: Keira Knightley] [younger: Raffey Cassidy]
âWe are the spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down.â âPoe Dameron
VERSES & BACKSTORIES:
I am a big fan of AUs and canon-divergent verses so if you donât see something here that looks like your cup of caf know that I am always happy to plot out a new one! Also feel free to pull anything from my wishlist.
BACKSTORY OPTIONS: I find that I enjoy the Rey Palpatine/Rey-Chooses-Skywalker Idea more and more the longer I contemplate it. I do however remain wholly convinced that Rey Organa-Solo was the original intention with the character in TFA. Thus, for threads set early in Reyâs character arc I am likely to default to Rey Organa-Solo while in threads set later Iâll probably go the Palpatine/Skywalker route. (And I have other options too!) If you have a backstory preference, please specify before starting a thread.
The Last Solo (default canon verse): Rey was too little to remember that her full name was Breha Organa Solo but it wouldnât have mattered if sheâd been one hundred; when Emperor Palpatine decides to mind-rub the entire galaxy, they forget. Sensing the all-but-unprecedented power within the little girl, the half-resurrected shadow of Palpatine was too tempted by her potential to destroy her outright; instead he erased her life. He couldnât erase the emotional weight of her absence, though, nor the instant sense of connection felt by both Rey and those who had once loved her. Even Kylo Ren didnât know why the little girl he dragged from the ruins of the Jedi Temple mattered, but he couldnât bring himself to kill her, instead abandoning both her and his fatherâs ship on Jakku before following Snoke into the Dark. Palpatineâs lies about Reyâs lineage fooled everyone for a time â but in the end, the truth felt real in a way that the lies did not, and Rey reclaimed the heritage he had stolen. In the end, Palaptine lost everything.
The Last Skywalker (secondary canon verse): When the half-resurrected former Emperor mind-rubbed the entire galaxy to forget Luke Skywalkerâs daughter, he succeeded â but his former Hand recognized the feeling of his touch on her thoughts. Mara Jade immediately knew he was back. She didnât know why she felt such a connection to the little girl buried beside her in the ruins of the Jedi Temple, but she knew she had to kill her former master â and that she had to keep this child safe. She âborrowedâ her brother-in-lawâs ship and went searching for Palaptine, her forgotten daughter in tow. When she reached Jakku, she left the girl and the ship behind, knowing the next step was too dangerous to bring a child she loved along â but the Final Order she found was more than the fragments of the Empire she had expected, and Mara never returned for her daughter. That didnât stop the girl who called herself Rey from sensing a connection to her true family when she finally found them again, nor stop her from claiming her true lineage in the end in spite of Palaptineâs lies. (Can also be played with a different mother!)
Palpatineâs Heir (canonical canon verse): When Rey at last discovered her lineage, she was horrified. She was the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine, the man who had destroyed the Old Republic and created the Empire â and was now the resurrected Lord of the Sith. After initially giving in to fear and despair at the darkness she believed she saw within herself, Rey eventually returned to the war. With the assistance of Kylo Ren, who had turned his back on the Sith at the last minute, she was able to destroy Palpatine while the Resistance obliterated the Final Orderâs fleet. Hope was restored to the galaxy, Rey was restored to life in a final act of atonement, and the stain of the Sith was at last endedâŚat least for now. Choosing to turn her back on the bloodline that spawned her, Rey has instead declared herself a Skywalker in essence if not in birthright, carrying on the legacy of the late Luke and Leia. As the first of the new Jedi, Rey now looks to teach others the ways of the Force as Leia did her â starting with her dearest friend, Finn.
Not So Nobody (alt canon verse): The daughter of Kam and Tionne Solusar, two of Lukeâs earliest Jedi students, Rey was the first child born within the Temple. Kylo Ren desperately wanted to make her his first apprentice of the Dark Side, but the Solusars escaped the slaughter and fled across the galaxy. The First Order pursued. Unable to shake them, Kam and Tionne made landfall on the nearest planet: Jakku. They hid Rey with a junk dealer and left, planning to lead Ren away and double-back when it was safe â but the First Order caught them. They convinced Kylo Ren that Rey had died of wounds taken during the attack on the Temple, but the deception cost them their lives. Kylo Ren was irritated to have lost Rey as an apprentice but had more important things to do than dwell on the death of one childâŚuntil he heard about the girl on Jakku who helped the deserter. He knew immediately who she had to be â and that she would become his apprentice after all, or he would ensure that her parentsâ lie became the truth.
Orphan of Jakku (alt canon verse): Kylo Ren told the truth: Reyâs parents were nobodyâŚbut what does that matter? A personâs worth isnât determined by their lineage but by their choices. And Rey chooses the Light and the Resistance and she will give her all to defend her friends and to free the galaxy from the shackles the First Order wants to wrap them in. Kylo Ren might be descended from Darth Vader but Rey doesnât need to be a Skywalker too in order to end him and his reign.
Twinverse (for duplicates): Twins run in the Skywalker line, and B(rey)ha and Pad(mey) were no exception. Named for both of Leiaâs mothers, their loss hit her as hard her sonâs fall to the Dark Side â and hit the girls even harder: separated for the first time in their lives, they were scattered to distant planets and lost, abandoned. So young they could barely remember their own names let alone those of their family, they grew-up like orphans until one day âReyâ found herself leaving aboard a ship whose controls fit her hands like theyâd been made for her. When the Force stirred in Rey, it reached out to her sister as well and Mey went looking for the family that had never come back to find her. (Iâm happy to play either Rey or Other Rey in all versions! Can also be done as Skywalker twins or nobody twins. Names changeable!)
SEQUEL TRILOGY VERSES:
Her Motherâs Daughter (alt post-TFA): Leia had always been too busy running rebellions and piecing-together governments to truly master the Force, but she knew enough to teach Rey the basics â at least until the old friends she dispatched to fetch her brother could talk him into coming back. She could have sent Rey, but after losing Han she didnât want to let her daughter out of her sight â not so soon after finding the long-thought-dead girl again. Besides, they had so much to catch up onâŚand the Resistance could use a Force Sensitive woman like Breha, training or no training. And for General Organa, duty always came first.
Corrupted Coordinates (alt post-TFA): the map did not lead them to Master Skywalker. Artoo wasnât sure if the data was corrupted or if Luke had been there at one point and then moved on â but wherever he was, it wasnât here. Unwilling to return to the Resistance empty-handed (to fail again the way she had failed to save Han, to protect Finn) Rey went looking for every rumor of Luke she could find. Aboard the Millennium Falcon with Chewbacca and R2-D2 in tow, she is determined to keep searching until she can come back to Leia with something that will give them all hope.
A Newer Hope (alt TLJ): It wasnât Rey who finally convinced Luke Skywalker to come back to the Force, back to the Resistance, back to his sister; it was the droid Artoo Deetoo, perhaps Lukeâs oldest living friend. Artooâs old hologram reminded Luke of the boy heâd once been and the hopes that had once filled his life to brimming. Lifting her Jedi Masterâs ancient X-Wing from the water had been the last task Rey completed before Luke deemed her ready to return to the galaxy and to continue her training from within the Resistance, although he was cautious about letting her progress too quickly, unable to shake his fears of creating another Kylo Ren.
A Skywalker Returned (alt TLJ): If Luke had not cut himself off from the Force he would have recognized his daughterâs presence the moment she set foot on that island. As it was, the resemblance she bore to his sister â to the woman his daughter would have been if she had lived to grow-up â seemed like a cruel joke of the Force and inspired him to push her away instead. His daughter had died alongside her mother, murdered by Ben Solo in an attempt to hide his fall to the Dark SideâŚor so Luke had thought. Unable to kill his little cousin, Ben instead mind-rubbed her and dumped the confused girl on an out-of-the-way planet. He never expected the girl from Jakku to come back to haunt him â but the Force has a way of returning things to their proper balance, and Kylo Ren knows now that no lies will keep him safe from his long-lost cousin. Unless he can twist her to the Dark Side the way Snoke once twisted him, their next meeting will leave one or both of them dead.
The Rise of Organa-Solo (post-TLJ): Rey felt an instant connection to Han and Leia (and Kylo Ren), the Force within her whispering that this was the family she sought. Her father thought her resemblance to his beloved Leia was mere coincidence and died before learning the truth; her mother surely sensed something when they met but whether out of concern she might be wrong or hopes of sparing Rey further emotional turmoil before she started her Jedi training, Leia said nothingâŚand Luke had cut himself off from the Force and thus was unable to recognize his niece. Now only Leia remains to guide Rey into the Light away from Snokeâs lies and toward her destiny â but will the truth make it harder or easier for her when she has to kill her brother?
The First Jedi (alt post-TLJ): While Leia reforges the fragments of the Resistance into a New Rebellion, Rey has a mission of her own: finding other Force Sensitives and leading them with her into the Light before Kylo Renâs agents can drag them to the Dark Side. She is no Jedi Master but she has the ancient Jedi teachings to draw from, friends to support her, and her own clarity of vision to guide her. She will learn, and she will teach. The Jedi will not end with her.
The Sunrider Option (alt TROS): With Kylo Ren dead at her hand, Rey faced Palpatine alone â but she had read the old Jedi texts and knew of a different sort of sacrifice she could make. She did as commanded and struck him down, claiming her position as Empress of the Sith â but severed herself from the Force at the same time. The spirits of the Sith moved from him to herâŚand found nothing waiting there that could house them. They faded, dissipating into nothing but impotent screams. Before the Final Order could realize the ritual had failed, she gave the command for their fleet to stand down. The combined Resistance and Free Peopleâs Fleets destroyed most of their ships before they could fight back or flee, and Rey returned to her friends alive and untainted â but forever sundered from the Force. Now she does her best to pass her training on to Finn so he can guide the new generation of Jedi that she will never be a part ofâŚand learns to live with a world that will feel forever muffled, forever less.
The Balance Restored (post TROS): While Poe Dameron, Rose Tico, Kaydel co Connix, and the other leaders of the Resistance turn their hand from rebellion to building a government, Rey has a mission of her own: finding other Force Sensitives and training them as Leia did her. From the fragments of the Jedi Order, something new will rise â something that is not bound by the limitations of the Jedi Code or the sins of Jedi past, but something nonetheless firmly rooted in the Light. She will restore balance to the galaxy one student at a time, starting with her first apprentice: Finn.
Rebel Daughter (pre-TFA divergence): Breha was not lost when her brother fell to the Dark Side. She grew-up amidst the strain and stress of political upheaval and imminent war, but she also grew-up surrounded by family. Brehaâs devotion to the Resistance is total â almost. The loss of her brother cut her too deep for even the dozens of unofficial aunts, uncles, and quasi-siblings of her parentsâ friends and allies to assuage â but dragging Ben back to the Light would do it. Breha refuses to give up on the big brother she once adored, no matter what Uncle Luke or her parents caution her, but will she risk the continued survival of the Resistance she loves on her certainty that Ben is still in there somewhere, and she can bring him back? She tells herself itâs the will of the Force guiding her â but maybe she just misses her brother.
Scoundrel Daughter (pre-TFA divergence): when Ben Solo fell to the Dark Side, Leia and Han decided that the Force was too dangerous for their remaining child. Duty demanded that General Organa stay with her burgeoning Resistance, so Han and Chewie took young Breha away from war and into the safety of the seedier side of life. She grew up more on the Falcon than off, flitting from port to port and learning the tricks of the smuggler trade rather than the ways of the Force. It wasnât until Hosnian Prime met its grim fate that they came home to Leia, joining the Resistance for a desperate mission to Starkiller Base â and Brehaâs first confrontation with her brother since she had been a little girl and he had not yet become a monster.
Dark Lady of Ren (pre-TFA divergence): When young Ben Solo proved resistant to Snokeâs manipulations he set his sights on an easier target: the boyâs baby sister. His assault on the Jedi Temple left many survivors, but it had all been a distraction so he could kidnap Breha. Raised to the Dark Side and indoctrinated with the beliefs of the First Order, Kreya Ren has few memories of any life before and even less interest in uncovering them. With her family convinced that she died thirteen years ago, she might never have discovered her origins â save that Poe Dameron knew the moment they came face to face who this woman who looked so much like Leia had to be. That had been Kreyaâs first mission as a Knight of Ren and she took Dameronâs escape and the defection of the traitor FN-2187 personally. Vowing to destroy the Resistance once and for all, Kreya Ren never expected to discover a brother barring her way â nor parents who refused to accept that she would never turn her back on the Dark Side.
Orderly Mechanic (pre-TFA divergence): The First Order was never picky about where it harvested its resources â or about how willing they were. Rey didnât want to leave Jakku but she wasnât given a choice when stormtroopers marched over the sands ârecruitingâ anyone useful. She was barely a teenager but everyone knew she was good with machines and they needed people to keep their ships spaceworthy. At least sheâs learned a lot, although âtraveling the galaxyâ probably would be more exciting if she ever got to step foot off the ships for more than the occasional dirtside repair. Being a young and self-taught prodigy has netted Rey few friends among her co-workers, but some of the stormtrooper recruits at least are nice to the girl who helps fix their boots and blastersâŚand so far no one, not even Rey herself, has realized that her instinctive avoidance of Kylo Ren is anything more than ordinary prudence. And every day, her lost family feels a little further awayâŚ

LEGENDS EU VERSES:
Another Desert Daughter (as Shmiâs great-granddaughter): Luke felt an instant connection to the new Jedi trainee the moment Rey stepped into the temple. Here was yet another Force user from Tatooine, another orphaned child of the sands who dreamed beyond the confines of her hot and distant world, like Taihiri Veila and himself before them. So why did the extent of her powers frighten him? Was it because the coincidental resemblance of her features and his nieceâs, his sisterâs, had Luke making the mental leap to yet another Jedi from Tatooine? But this girl was no Vader, surely! Of course, if he had known that she too carried Skywalker blood in her veins, Luke might have let himself worry moreâŚbut Shmi Skywalker had died too quickly to tell her son that there was another. (can be set at any time in Legends Continuity but probably not NJO because I donât know it)
Lost Hapan Princess (as Allana Djo Solo): deeming it too dangerous to hide her daughter in plain sight with Han and Leia Organa-Solo, Tenel Ka sent Allana to Dathomir after faking her death â but the ship never made it there. Left on the nearest planet for safe-keeping by her escort while they dealt with the threat pursing them, Allana soon found herself abandoned and alone. Her memories damaged by the upheaval in the Force following Caedusâs fall and Abelothâs rise, she spent the next several years sure of nothing but that she had family out there somewhere who would be coming back for herâŚbut as the amnesiac girl drew inward to shield herself from the darkness in the Force, Tenel Ka was forced to conclude that her deception about her daughterâs death had become the truth: Allana was gone. But the Force wasnât done with the woman now called Rey just yet⌠(for post-LOTF interactions)
Littlest Solo Sister (as Breha Organa-Solo): either taking Anakin Soloâs place as the youngest of the three Solo children, standing alongside Anakin as the second set of Organa-Solo twins, or as the fourth and youngest of the siblings, Breha grew-up as the daughter of the New Republicâs Chief of State and the niece of the Jedi Grand Master. It was a life that involved lots of affection from a host of unofficial aunts and uncles, the occasional kidnapping, and training in the Jedi Temple on Yavin Four. It eventually involved war as well, interspersed with tragedy and darkness. (can be set at any time in Legends Continuity but I really donât know the NJO so assistance with details may be necessary if you want that)

"âweâve been chatting online and we get on really well and oh that explains itâ au (bonus: i totally told you about my crappy ex oops it you)" with An Ace Ship, and ace as the person who tells the other about their crappy ex
Well, I stayed along the prompt well enough⌠right? And the first thing that comes to mind with an Ace ship is Marco (well sometimes Sabo)
Excuse any mistakes! Enjoy! {Under read more for length}
I had been talking to someone online for a while now, hitting it off pretty well and talking like anything we thought of. I still donât know what he looks like and I havenât provided the same until he makes the move of showing to be interested to hook up. The guy seems a bit old fashioned, not bothering me much and I had been at first given a serious question on my age first. It made me confused, but shrug it off and gave him my age and gender. Hell, we still havenât exchanged names yet and I was just enjoying what I was given.
One night, getting home terribly drunk from a great one night stand, I was frustrated to learn of the guy I had for the night did the biggest asshole move. It left me in a blur on what exactly happened, but I was left with messages on my account as I had been talking to ExoticParadiseBird105. It had been something left off and he messaged back in confusion, but what freaked me out was the last message I notice first as it was the most recent says:
âAce?â
It left me utterly confused as I scrolled through my entire conversation of broken language and ranting as he seemed concerned for me. It was a nice gesture as I complained about the dude I messed around with took off the damn condom during the act without my permission, which still pissed me off. Then it seemed like I ranted about one of my exes, making me groan with a hand finding my face as I rub to it in exasperation since I mentioned of how I still felt something towards the âcrappy exâ and wish that we never broke it off. More complaints how I had been left because of my age was mentioned very brokenly in writing and I felt bad he had to read any of it.
Then he was asking things that left me more confused, but I was still in rant mode before the keys really mashed together. It must have been when I just passed out and let sleep lull me away since I still wore my clothes from last night. I notice though the guy mention how he met my ex and what he looked like before there was the recent questioning of my name that was made this morning. I still didnât know what that all meant and merely groaned more as I begin typing.
âIâm so sorry about last night. I was plastered and frustrated. Please ignore my babbles.â
I reply as I breathe out in regret and rub to my face while leaning back in my desk chair. The chime of a message drags me back to look upon the screen and notice a reply.
âItâs okay, that guy who took the condom off needs to be beat the hell out of.â
A snort leaves me as I chuckle lightly and then the three dots show of him typing again.
âBut is it too much to ask if your name is Ace?â
The question has me frowning a bit with eyebrows furrowed as I am confused and soon shift a bit to have fingers hover the keys before breathing out as I should reply.
âPossibly.â
âHow would you vaguely even know that?â
I reply with a wiggle and grimace at the sudden taste of my mouth, making me making a noise of disgust. Moving hands, I pull off my shirt to toss at my basket and there is a reply to my computer.
âCould we meet up at Green Beans?â
The coffee shop mentioned has me immediately knowing the place and wasnât sure if I should. I knew he was in the area, the location showing on his profile and giving a suggestion to me one time.
âI guess so.â
I reply, not sure how much this could already damage me and they replied quickly in return.
âIn ten minutes?â
A snort leaves me at the quick speed he is using and soon agree to that before moving to take a quick shower.
-o-o-o-o-
It didnât take long for me to get freshened up and down to the cafe with a thought of getting a coffee. Though, I just let myself for the time being sit in a booth seat as itâs more square shaped and could only fit three people on each small cushion provided and is separated to provide privacy. I made sure to stay leaning on the table so they could see me, but also didnât want to see the whole room in case he is a no show.
A white coffee cup with lid secured is placed before me, startling me lightly as I soon tilt my head up. This clenching is in my chest at the sight of the man standing there next to me, slightly blocking me in with a timid look.
âPlease donât run out on me, yoi.â A scowl appears on me as I try to swallow down the hurt and emotions swarming me.
âWhat, like you did?â I answer in a slight snap back and he breaths out before moving to the other side of the booth. It takes all my will power to not get up and leave as it completely dawns on me that this whole time I had been talking to Marco on that site. Go figure, I should have noticed as he took to my personality pretty quickly and it kind of just hurt even more now. âSo what is this? A scolding for sleeping around? Because I will have you know just because of my age I am highly aware on the consequences and donât think I havenât already panicked about that enough last night.â
âThat isnât why I wanted you to come out here,â he starts off while I give a guilty look and I canât help but want to think he deserves it. Then again, I could never bring myself to that fully as I was fully aware of Marcoâs insecurity from the beginning while being with me. âI made a mistake ever breaking it off, okay? I let something like an age difference get in the way of our happiness.â He starts to explain and it hurts seeing that he was being truthful about it. No doubt my ranting of how much I just wish I could talk with him didnât help, feeling as I backed myself in a corner. âAnd I havenât been so happy with my life except on when I was with you, yoi.â
âWhy did you have to break me to figure that out?â I ask with an arm moving to have my hand to the side of my head as I canât look to him. It hurt thinking that we really were happy together, but he let other people question our age difference of six years since I was just turning nineteen at the time. They freaked him out to the point that it made him halt affection and doubt our relationship by every word dripping from their lips.
âTo punish myself for doing that to you⌠I deserved everything you called me and to have all my things thrown out and burned in the lawn.â I purse my lips at the mentioning as I really did do that with his things and send him a picture to his phone before telling him to delete my number. I had been spiteful, angry about how much we went through to get to loving one another to only have that diminished because of other people.
âYou did deserve itâŚâ I mutter with a slight scowl and with a glance, I see a smile trying to pull at his lips, making me flush. âBut⌠But I meant it in my rantâŚâ I start out to explain with a sad look back down at the table. âYouâre so fucking stupid and I am so stupid to even want to forgive you after everything.â I mutter a bit more with furrowed eyebrows before sitting up and grabbing the coffee to drink it, not wanting to look at him.
âCan⌠Can I try again, yoi?â He asks while I enjoy the speech tic he has and soon pull my cup away as I have my head lowered, but I tilt my head to look to him with eyes.
âNot yetâŚâ I tell him, seeing a slight hurt and let that settle in him before stopping myself from being so spiteful with a sigh. I move a hand through my hair and drag eyes away with a nervous feeling in me. âLet⌠Let me get tested before all thatâŚâ I comment as I could only think about what happened last night, making me completely nervous on it all.
âAce,â I look to him as he is giving a reassuring smile. âI would still want to be with you even if you were to be positive, okay? Plus,â a gleams shows in his blue eyes and he straightens a little, âI can tell you that I would have Vista or Akagami jumping on that for a lawsuit.â Hearing that has me snort, knowing he was serious, but reminded me of the times he would joke around about that for other minor things. âIâm serious, yoi.â
âI know,â I wave a hand out with a light laugh and give a smile as I am filled with memories. âI just thought of that time you said when a manager was being rude to me one timeâŚâ He gives a questioning look before it clicks and he is smiling with a tilt of his head, showing he remembers that time quite well. âBut I wouldnât want to do that to youâŚâ I continue with my face dropping and he gives out a breath with a look to me.
âAce, itâs not about the sex with you. Itâs about the times we spend together and know how we always seem to mold so well.â He gives a smile as I am a little surprised and then he moves a hand to be across the table close to me, palm open as its held out towards me. âPlease give me this chance, yoi.â
I look to his hand before feeling myself knowing how much I have always wanted this and couldnât stop myself as I line fingers along his with a smile.

YouTube is Killing Free Speech: But There is a Future with FreebirdTV
An open letter to all parties engaged in online content creation. Vloggers, viewers, memers, creators, and commentators- lend me your ears.
As you know, YouTube, Google, Facebook, and Twitter have an effective oligarchal monopoly on information dissemination on this planet. This would not be an issue if these megaliths were committed to impartiality and free expression- but as we all know all too well, this is not the case. If you are producing content that does not comply with ever-more restrictive guidelines, you will be demonetized on YouTube; or even banned entirely, as the firearms community has recently discovered. We know Twitter hates conservatives. Facebook has taken a side in public, at last, confirming what everyone knew already. Google has long abandoned the motto "Don't be evil" in favor of "Do the right thing."
what the USA needs is an alternative to @YouTube ...sounds like it would be a great startup for someone with the know how. I'm certain there are a lot of tech guys who love this country and the #USConstitution
â Leonard D Martin (@leonarddmartin) March 23, 2018
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Who decides what the right thing is? Google, of course. James Damore disagreed with what the right thing was in favor of trying to improve the company for everyone, by rejecting ideology in favor of evidence. That, apparently, was the wrong thing to think.
A year ago almost to the day, I predicted the last round of demonetizations on YouTube and Twitter bans that took out Jared Taylor et al and called for content creators to put aside differences to build a new home.
In any event, I failed to gather enough support for this ambitious idea. I think I am a decent writer, but I am a low-quality YouTuber! At the time I proposed that we needed a new video hosting site and a magazine that would represent the interests of free speech and content creation. We can look at the recent coverage of the state persecution of Count Dankula in the media for proof that I was (and remain) correct. Though that project failed, you are currently reading the manifestation of a part of that dream. Republic Standard exists because my plan failed. I began writing on Medium.com, and from there began working on a small news site that was undergoing a revamp with people I encountered through my writing. Though that project also fell short, I did encounter the man who would become my business partner at Republic Standard.
He is the site owner of the Freebird Forum (which also provides the comments threads beneath each article here) and this magazine- suffice to say he understands computers like few others. This weekend he said, in passing;
"I am working on a way to stream/host content so it can't be pulled down."
Content that cannot be removed- my mind lit up! It sounded too insane to be summed up with such a nonchalant phrase, but I have gotten used to being surprised at what is possible and the nonchalance with which my partner makes the improbable a certainty. In our first 75 days of publishing this magazine, we have received in excess of 100,000 hits. This for a conservative, open house magazine with the bare-minimum of gatekeeping, purely for quality control. There is a market for our ideas, we are proving it every day. My mind immediately lit up with the possibilities of these words- that it was possible to build an independent video hosting site from scratch and make it open to all- and we immediately set about discussing the practicalities. By the end of the day, my partner had constructed the first version of FreebirdTV.
FreebirdTV works. It is scalable and based on open-source software; which means that in effect, we are limited only by the size of our server farm and processing power. Open source software means that those creators with developing skills will be able to customize their channels like never before. Livestreaming works also, again- we are limited only by our ability to handle traffic. Best of all for content creators who have been financially penalized by YouTube for having the wrong opinions, FreebirdTV is monetizable through Adsense and many other revenue generating options.
The initial build that is live on the site was intended as a test version; in reality, we are in open beta as of right now
What we realized immediately was that we had, almost by mistake, skipped straight through a development process that usually requires millions of dollars and months of engineering. A hobby programming project became a real-world possibility literally overnight. What do you do with that kind of realization? Well, we think we are doing the right thing right now. We are coming to you, the people, to ask for your input on what you want to see from us next.
A fundamental ethical principle we hold at Freebird and Republic Standard is the commitment to freedom of speech. Though I am a conservative writer and Republic Standard is primarily a conservative platform, we will publish anyone who has something to say and can comply with basic quality standards. Freebird.is is a free speech forum that has no censorship of ideas. The forum members effectively self-police, and up to date there has been exactly one case of a member being banned, and that has since been revoked after discussion with the community. Â Amazingly, there is no need for âtrusted flaggersâ or the SPLC to intervene! From a forum to a magazine, and now to video, we aim to break discussion free of the chains of censorship, for the benefit of creator and audience member alike.
We are utterly committed to the preservation of your right to free expression. left or right, communist or nationalist, authoritarian or libertarian- it does not matter on these platforms. Your ideas matter. You matter. Our freedom matters and that freedom has to be broad enough to allow all ideas to be expressed and criticized.
Going Free and Clear from the Cult of YouTube
Making the break from such a huge and in many ways still creator-profitable site as YouTube is hard for content creators, and we are not demanding that you delete your account. We fully recognize that in the initial period at the very least, FreebirdTV will be an ancillary site for many creators- the YouTube audience will always be larger. We ask for patience, dialogue, and a little faith. It is day two of a journey that could last a lifetime or crash and burn tomorrow, and it's up to all of us, regular people like you and me, to see what happens next.
While nothing lasts forever, I think we can say with some confidence that Google and YouTube will dominate the mainstream for years to come. Purely by having such gigantic brand identity, your traffic is always likely to be higher on YouTube up until the day they pull the plug on your channel. That being said, if you have read this far into an article about alternative platforms I guess that you are not a mainstream creator or have been marginalized by YouTube as "not advertiser-friendly." Maybe that means that you give a damn about free speech and how we express that online today, and in the future.
What kind of agenda is at work when a private company attempts to censor political opinions through attacking the finances of content creators? It is abhorrent to me that any business can tell you what opinions may and may not be heard. This is too much power for any government to handle, let alone a single, planet-straddling company. The leftist writer Chris Hedges describes this as inverse totalitarianism, and though I do not agree with him on many things, he is correct on this.
Data Collection
FreebirdTV will follow the same ethical principles of data security as Republic Standard and Freebird.is. While in operating these sites we will collect data we highly encourage users to take steps to guarantee their privacy if they wish. We will never disclose, sell or otherwise disseminate your digital footprint, metadata, browsing habits or any other information we acquire about you to anyone for any reason. I would rather see our servers burned to the ground than betray this trust between us. This trust goes both ways- we will defend ourselves with extreme prejudice from any attack on ourselves, or the platforms we operate. Just to be clear.
Why FreebirdTV is Important
Our Neo-Reactionary-in-residence Julius Roy-Davis covered the concept of The Cathedral in his first piece for the site, and I do recommend you read it.
For the uninitiated, the concept of the Cathedral represents the idea that in contemporary America, real power is held by the organs of mass propaganda: the higher education system, which generates the ideas, and the mainstream media which is responsible for manufacturing consent for them. ~ Julius Roy-Davis
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
If you can accept that this idea holds some water, what is the future for us if the ideological left controls the curriculum of our schools? When the universities are factories for social justice activists, the news media is fake, and social media companies and search engines push progressive agenda with their services, we see the Cathedral in all her terrible majesty. Imagine how it is to grow up in this online age when one set of prescribed opinions dominates our culture from Kindergarten to the office environment. It is hard enough for adults to recognize this to be a serious problem, never mind the problem this presents for our childrenâs learning.
Creators angry at YouTube for new policies are looking for alternative platforms, and one of the biggest names being shuffled around as a possible new home is PornHub. https://t.co/eETjWAJLtt pic.twitter.com/Xg5zV3KMy9
â Polygon (@Polygon) March 24, 2018
The solution as we see it is to decentralize this power structure, and that begins with reclaiming online space. Â What does that look like? It looks like startup platforms like FreebirdTV and the other video sharing sites that are being built. It looks like you sharing content from these sites preferentially to the same content hosted on YouTube. It means we take responsibility for the future, down to the micro-actions of sharing cat videos from one site instead of another. These tiny actions on a large enough scale are the sledgehammer that cracks the Cathedral. We must return this power to the users, the creators, the viewers. To you.
Google teaches our kids what to believe through ideologically biased SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages). Facebook mines and sells your data to enable people to target their advertisements, while restricting the appearance of conservative and alternative media sites in your news feed. I do not say that it is possible to out-compete these platforms entirely, but that is not the point- the point is that the free flow of ideas in service of the truth is stifled by these companies, and that is tyrannical. We can subvert social media. We can make our own video hosting. We can reclaim the internet.
I want you to accept that the old way of doing things is dying out.
If you are a content creator on YouTube with a large audience that has been demonetized, you know I am right. Look at how you have had to diversify your revenue from advertising to donations, and don't get me wrong, that is great! Getting your eggs in a few baskets is a good thing, of course. Even so, this is the silvery gleam of the sword that is giving your career the death of a thousand cuts. I said a year ago that eventually you will be deemed no longer suitable for YouTube, and your channel will be deleted. It has already happened to many. I say then that we must work together, a real partnership between platforms and creators that rejects the idea that the platform controls what are appropriate topics for discussion. That idea is wrong. That idea is dangerous. That idea is tyrannical.
It is our belief that what has held back many creators from moving from YouTube entirely (and what has encouraged certain previously "edgy" creators to tow the line) has been that there is no viable alternative platform that can be monetized. Until now.
We see the effect of this censorship-by-defunding with the shift in focus of many creators to livestreams, to take advantage of superchat donations. While these are reasonable tactics to use to ensure revenue stream, we must recognize the finite nature of this solution. Not only this, but this plays right into the hands of YouTube's ideological aims. Ideas that may have once been transmitted in a five-minute video are now often buried in a 2-hour long debate. Is this optimal? Is this really where we want to be?
"The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum â even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that thereâs free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate." Â ~ Noam Chomsky
Free speech is not and never has been a partisan issue. It is fundamental to a free society, and we are so close to losing it forever- my homeland of the United Kingdom is perhaps the most shocking and egregious example of this reality.
FreebirdTV is more than a platform, it is not some "get rich quick" ploy and, like the truth, it is not for sale at any price. We will need help. We will need investment- and probably quite soon on that front, to purchase more hardware to cope with the demands of traffic. We will need the support of viewers and content creators also, for without you there is nothing to see and nothing to do. We ask you for your support, and to make yourselves known. We must work together- my prediction that YouTube will expunge all non-compliant content has already come true, and it is only going to get worse. They will never be persuaded of the validity of our arguments, so they must be fought against, with all our might.
This is a fight for the future, the only future that matters: a free future.
