Hey guys, I legit think you should all do a letter writing campaign and give netflix hell for this because it reeks of unsubstantiated tax write-off similar to what the WB has done recently and which has also earned them government officials riding their asses for fraud etc. Give Netflix hell, and also, as a tip from a Farscape fan, write to other networks you think would be a good home for Shadow and Bone and tell them you want to see them buy it and make more!!!!
I am dead serious, that is a real thing you can do and that has happened successfully in the past.
But it all depends on YOU, the FAN BASE! Organize on twitter and reddit and tumblr, and then tell the show's talent and writers and producers what you're doing so they can use the fan leverage to their advantage to try and save the show.
It's not impossible! And on a personal note I would strongly recommend HBO as a top contender to buy Shadow & Bone as they are not part of the AMPTP and work on different, separately negotiated contracts for scripted shows for the most part, and are therefore less likely to be tax-evasiony right now I think.

This is actually the most devastating news ever

Hello, first of, I just wanna say that I love your work! Keep up the amazing job! And secondly, can i get a scenario of Hero wondering why their friend/teammate is acting a bit strangely and has been wandering off a bit lately to the point Hero decides to follow them out of worry. Cue Hero finds out that their friend and he Big Bad/Villain are in a relationship which probably leads to a confrontation.
Ask 153
Well thank you! ^-^ I’m super glad to hear that. I hope you like this. :) I have done another post like this, but I’m trying to get this out of time, so I’ll add it in later if I remember.
The team worked in shifts. That’s just how it was and it worked. It was hard, and most of the time, life consisted of eat, sleep, save the city, and repeat. So when Teammate’s routine changed, it was impossible not to notice. If they were out saving people in the day, they were out almost all night and vice versa.
There was no explanation for it and Hero was growing concerned, especially since only a few months ago Villain had kidnapped them for several weeks. Teammate hadn’t spoken about what had happened, but they had returned with a large scar on their torso. Were they trying to cope with that? It was impossible to tell, but they had to find out.
Hero followed them that night, and they didn’t like the direction they were wandering in. Hero kept back, out of sight, and stayed silent. Where were they going? This was not the part of town anyone with a working moral compass wanted to visit at night. They were tempted to call out, to drag them home, to safety, and ask what the hell was going on.
But Teammate knocked on a door, and that cut off any intention of cutting in. The door opened quickly, and Hero gasped from their corner they hid behind.
Villain?! Teammate had gone to see Villain?!
Hero was careful not to get spotted when Teammate stumbled into Villain’s arms and Villain held them close, stroking their hair with an unnerving gentleness. They looked exhausted- and no wonder with the amount of sleep they’d been missing out on because of these meetings. But why? What was Villain up to? Had they brainwashed them or something similar? Blackmail?
Villain guided Teammate inside. The front door closed behind them but Hero was determined to keep looking. They had to know what was going on. Hero was as quiet as they could as they ducked under the window and waited. They peeked up, seeing Villain pulling out a dining chair for Teammate to sit on, and providing them with a handsome meal which they picked at. Villain sat beside them and talked in a gentle tone. Hero was unable to make out what was being said exactly. They tensed their jaw when Villain took Teammate by the hand and squeezed.
One wrong move, a single move out of order and Hero would break down the window and kill Villain with their bare hands. They were playing a dangerous game, and Hero wasn’t willing to risk their teammate’s safety.
Hero kept out of sight, keeping to the shadows and with the room being so dimly lit, it was far easier to stay concealed, to hide the growing rage on their face.
After the meal, Teammate stood up, but wobbled. Villain was there at once to steady them. A dizzy spell, or had Villain drugged them. Villain smiled softly and picked Teammate up bridal style. They dipped their head down and kissed Teammate on the forehead.
“What?” Hero hissed.
Villain carried Teammate upstairs. Hero scaled the walls to follow them. Villain laid them down on the bed, taking off their shoes and, after Teammate sleepily nodded, their belt with all their tools and gadgets. They lay almost in the dark, with Teammate facing the window. Hero could only just make out Villain watching Teammate drift off to sleep, stroking their hair. Smiling almost fondly, but Hero dismissed it. It had to be dangerous, possessive and evil. This was Villain, it had to be, so Hero stayed at the house all night, making sure Villain couldn’t hurt Teammate, but after a while, Villain also went to sleep, not bothering to shut the curtains or switch off the light.
When daybreak started to appear, Hero had to go back. They needed to be at the base and if they didn’t move soon, they’d get spotted by a passer-by. All they could do was hope Teammate would be alright.
Back at the base, the team that was to be on shift was surprised to find Hero was late. Teammate was also late, but Hero dismissed the team’s concerns. “I know where they are. Go on ahead, guys. [Teammate] is getting the day off, there’s something they need to do. I’ll explain later.”
With frowns and grumbles of confusion and concern, the team left. Hero waited for Teammate to show up, over an hour late. “I’m sorry, [Hero]!” they panted, “I slept in. I’m not used to all these hours.” Teammate tried to go upstairs to grab their things, but Hero stepped in front of the stairway, arms folded.
“You’ve got the day off. I want to talk to you. My office, now please.”
Teammate frowned but nodded, they followed Hero inside, who then shut the door. Silence, and the tension was as thick as butter. Teammate chewed at the inside of their lip nervously.
“I want to know what’s going on with you, [Teammate], and leave out the lies.” “What do you mean?” Teammate bleated. “I’m just doing more with my free time than sleeping. I have friends and family to visit-” “I said, leave out the lies,” Hero grumbled. Teammate’s throat bopped as they gulped. “I. I don’t know what you mean.”
“I saw you last night with [Villain].”
And with that one sentence, Teammate unravelled. They groaned and covered their face. They started to pace in the little room they had available to them. Hero leaned over the desk and said, “I’d love to hear why you thought it’d be a good idea to get with the one person in this city that wants to kill this team the most.”
“It’s not like that- [Villain] isn’t like that, you don’t understand,” Teammate protested. “Of course it is, they’re using you to get to us. They have to be deceiving you, they’re [Villain]. They don’t have a loving bone in their body.” Teammate stomped their foot. “That’s not true!” they snapped.
Hero raised an eyebrow and didn’t lean back. “They kidnapped you and hurt you. What have they got over you that’s making you go back because it can’t be love.” “No they didn’t. They. They haven’t done anything! I was hurt and they found me and looked after me. They love me and I love them, more than anything.” Teammate straightened their back and raised their head. Hero wasn’t convinced.
Hero shook their head. “Then you’re a liability and if I turn a blind eye to this you’re going to get us all killed… [Teammate], you have the day off because I’m giving you 24 hours to think hard and choose. Us or [Villain].”
Teammate headed toward the door. “Shove your 24 hours. I choose them.” Hero felt like they were going to fall over in shock. “W.what?” “I’m sick of this place. I’m doing too much and it’s killing me. I love you all like family, don’t get me wrong, but I choose them.”
“Think about this,” Hero warned, “You’re going to get hurt!” Teammate opened the door. They paused and took off their ID. They threw it onto Hero’s desk. There were no powerful words, what Sidekick did was enough. Hero’s heart sank as they disappeared down the hallway.
