50. how would you describe your writing style?

uhh, i'd describe it as "weird," probably? ^^; i really do wish i were more poignant with the way i write, and i'm definitely able to be that way; i'd say that petal snowfall and broken and bruised are two examples of this. however, i tend to naturally gravitate to a more conversational style of writing, such as in tale of yukimura. i feel that i'm best able to express what i want by doing it in this way. it does bother me sometimes that i have trouble articulating in a lovelier style without trying harder, but most times i'm quite fond of my more comedic tone of writing. i feel that it's my signature, if you get me-- i like thinking that somebody might be able to simply read an excerpt of my work and be like, "yup, that's em's story for sure!"

56. are there any fics you would change or rewrite if given the chance?

probably unexpected comfort... if i could wipe it off the face of the earth i think i would, but people seem to be fond of it, so it stays. sometimes i forget it exists. it's just very sappy and not what i tend to write nowadays. i'd probably also redo broken and bruised. i love the way it is right now, but i do think it gets choppy at times.

74. do you have a fic you wish got a bit more love?

aside from tale of yukimura, i do wish more people would go read embraceable you. it's my current wip and one that i already have outlined to the very end. i'm quite passionate about it, but it does get a little bit difficult sometimes thinking you're just writing into the void. i also wanna be able to talk about it with someone and bounce ideas off another person as nobunaga's characterization there does not come as naturally to me as the other warlords' (in his defense, i did put him in a bit of a tough situation in that fic), but i'm not sure if there's even anyone who actively reads it besides myself.

—uhh so many 😂 my writing has changed so much since i’ve started writing for this fandom. i’d love to go back and re-write my first tsunami fic one day.

72. What’s your favorite writing compliment you’ve gotten?

—ooh, whenever ppl tell me that i got characterization right bc i write so many au’s, or when ppl say i helped them relate with my writing and felt seen 🥲 and i sob pretty much every time someone tells me my writing is beautiful or a masterpiece 🥺

my newest one that’s currently posting?? 😆 but i’ll always wish coastlines and step up au had more love. they were some of my favorites to write and such a labor of love 🫶🏼

4. How do you choose which fics to write?

god its so hard. its SO HARD TO PICK. so many things i want to write and never enough time waugh. but usually what happens is i get a few lines of something in my head and i go to just jot those down and uhh it usually turns into a fic from there. but sometimes if a fic idea is sparkly enough i'll sit down and start writing it anyway even without the inspiring words

13. Do you listen to music while you write?  If yes, what have you been listening to recently?

yes! if i dont have music playing i am far less productive with my writing but it has to be a specific vibe. lately i have been listening to niels nielson and MCC for writing, they have very nice quiet sounds (for the most part anyway, mister niels has a couple of songs that jumpscare me bc he just starts talking in the middle of them). but i also listen to autoheart while im writing, especially if i'm working on something with a lot of emotions to it

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process?  How do you come up with titles?

well. usually what happens is i finish a fic. i edit it. i get ready to post it and then i go SHIT I NEED A TITLE

occasionally though a title comes to me before im finished writing something, which is always a nice surprise. with my ghost fics i always use ghost lyrics as titles teehee

43. Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?

hmmmm. hm that is a good question. well my favorite character dynamic is grumpy/grumpy or grumpy/dry humor and there arent many options for that with the ghoulies (although now that i think about it...dew and mountain would fit the grumpy/dry humor trope fairly well....hmmmm)

as for ideas, i think for the most part i have wips or notes of most of the ideas i want to write, but one of them that i am very excited to work on more but have been stuck with is my rain/swiss soulmate au

55. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics?  Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

i feel positive that there are wordings and phrases i use a lot, but even after skimming through some of my fics i can't find any good examples right now

but definitely some common themes, one thing i really enjoy doing is implementing dynamics that are unusual for the characters, its fun coming up with circumstances and situations that change things up and take them out of their comfort zones

57. How conscious are you about including symbolism or foreshadowing in your fics?

oh i LOVE symbolism and foreshadowing, but honestly a lot of my fics aren't planned out enough for much intentional foreshadowing but i like to think that for some of the longer series i'm working on it'll work out to have some nice foreshadowing

74. Do you have a fic you wish got a bit more love?

my cumulus and swiss fic is one im really proud of with very tasty sweet mean cumulus and subby swiss

and then also this one with dew and swiss ft finger sucking a little bit o boot stuff (sub swiss again...i prommy i have some dom swiss content in the works)

78. What motivates you during the writing process?

one thing about me is i love completing things. i will add something to a list just to immediately cross it off and im a completionist in video games too, so just the feeling of having finished a fic is pretty motivating

another thing thing is sending snippets to my friends, thats always a nice little boost of serotonin and motivation bc i get some feedback and its always nice to hear someone say they're excited to see where a work is going

i also usually have ideas of things i want to happen later on, and if i wanna get to that i have to write my way to it so i basically am just dangling a carrot for myself lol

43) Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?

Not really? Whenever I get really inspired, I tend to write it immediately and/or talk about it endlessly as I prepare to write it. This doesn't really lead to a lot of unwritten ideas, as you can imagine, just ones that haven't been fully fleshed out.

55) Have you noticed any patterns in your fics?  Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

Uhh, I tend to use the bench as a grave a lot, if that counts. I first did it in Lead Us Home (where Tommy used it for Wilbur's grave) and then in Gone Away for Tommy's. I plan on using it at least twice more, for future reference. Sorry not sorry.

For a more serious answer though, I do tend to re-use a lot of the same themes regarding death, grief, self-worth, and morality. All the characters I love and write frequently in my stories are so complex and have so many interesting ideas about these themes that I love to explore them. I love putting these boys in scenarios.

57) How conscious are you about including symbolism or foreshadowing in your fics?

Oh, I'm VERY conscious. It's something I actively plan and put in, then wait for readers to pick out and scream at me for in the comments. I've been adding plenty of both in Gone Away, and the few people who've figured out what I'm foreshadowing now give me all their reactions in DMs so they don't spoil anything for the rest.

Halcyon Days Are Over. Not only is it inspired by the lovely @/seaswallow's fic Halcyon (or: how to breathe again), but it also has some of my favorite Sam and Dream moments I've written to date. While you're bound to get more as Gone Away, Pandora, and A Warden's Secrets continue, Halcyon is the precursor that shows just how their dynamic developed. Plus, it has a nice little surprise at the end that warmed my heart as I was writing it. :]

I also have a Subnautica WIP I need to get back to (and two other fics for it posted); other ‘main’ fandoms over the years have included the Sims, Pokemon (specifically XY), and Legend of Zelda (all over the place, but leaning towards Ocarina of Time). There’s also a few stray oneshots for other fandoms.

Coming in second is Tipping Point, for Detroit: Become Human and the only thing I’ve written for that fandom (4,884 hits, 647 kudos, 96 bookmarks).

fics you were nervous to post - Uhh. There are a few, and those are usually the ones I end up orphaning XD;; The two VtM ones have pretty dark themes and I was a bit anxious about those because Pyre and Sascha are a mess. (On the other hand, it’s Vampire: the Masquerade. Dark shit kind of goes with the territory, and stuff like Sascha’s background is actually canon, so it wouldn’t be quite as bad as if I was posting something with those themes for, like, Pokemon. If anything I was more concerned I was overly woobifying Sascha?)

how do you choose your titles - It’s like one-word titles or pretentious song lyrics and there’s very little in-between. Like, my two most recent, for VtM? One is called ‘Burn’, the other is called ‘wear it now like a mantle (always there to remind you)’. Yes, with that capitalisation XD I just refer to it as ‘Mantle’.

do you outline - For longer ones, I absolutely try to or I go off the rails. Of course, that doesn’t help when it’s supposed to be a oneshot and it grows legs and runs away... which I suppose is appropriate because the last one that did that featured a Tzimisce...

favorite story ive written so far - Legitimately no idea, but honestly, MoYD has a very warm place in my heart, as does Deviance (a Pokemon AU that was not very popular largely because it was extremely self-indulgent, haha).
