c!crimeboys makes me feel things :(
here is my understanding/characterization of c!crimeboys relationship in lore. im going to preface here that i am in no way saying that c!crimeboys have a healthy relationship, or that c!wilbur is entirely a good person. i’m not saying he’s completely evil either.
c!crimeboys will always love each other, no matter what, and that is the tragedy. they aren’t good for each other, and it would have been best if they split when things went sour, but they can’t. they won’t. their love (platonic you freaks) for each other will always be a constant, forever tying them together.
however, their care for each other will vary. in early l’manburg times, they cared and loved each other quite a bit (i recognize the whole child solider thing. i believe that the concept of child soldiers being bad is not a concept in dsmp society. no one else questioned it, so why should c!wilbur? he did not realize the harm). then, in pogtopia, things went bad. as c!wilbur began to spiral, his care for c!tommy’s well being decreased, up until the end (where he wanted him to die with him). but he loved him. he still loved c!tommy, they were brothers. he just didn’t really care about him.
c!tommy, on the other hand in pogtopia, cared for c!wilbur up until the end. he became increasingly wary of c!wilbur, but he still cared. he had his moments, of course, where he didn’t care for c!wilbur as much, but he cared. quite a bit. he loved him, and at this point, c!tommy cared just as much. (it’s why he was so devastated when c!wilbur died.)
in limbo, c!wilbur cared for c!tommy a bit. in the beginning, mostly, the first couple of years in that train station, he cared for c!tommy. he hoped he was okay. he wanted him to be okay. he hoped he had a good life. but that started to dwindle, as the months piled up. he started becoming incredibly apathetic. by the time c!tommy died and visited c!wilbur in limbo, c!wilbur did not care for him at all. he did not give a shit that his little brother just got brutally beaten to death.
during exile/ghostbur times, c!tommy cared for c!wilbur very little. he cared for ghostbur, sure, but c!wilbur? he was resentful and tired and didn’t really think much about how he would be fairing in afterlife. he thought he would be happy, but he didn’t really care, because he had bigger things to deal with. and then, during the worst of exile, he would feel horribly guilty for not caring about c!wilbur.
and then in the early resurrection period, neither of them cared for each other that much. c!wilbur cared more than he did at the end of pogtopia, but not that much. not enough to ensure that he wasn’t accidentally hurting c!tommy. c!tommy cared a bit, enough to make sure that c!wilbur wasn’t going to spiral again, but he didn’t care about the minor things, the lesser things.
and then, as they healed, their care for each other began to grow again. c!wilbur did keep hurting c!tommy, but he didn’t necessarily realize it, and if he did, i believe he felt guilty and/or bad about it later on. c!tommy, now knowing not to trust c!wilbur, he was very wary on how much he let himself care for c!wilbur. by the time c!tommy opened up about exile, c!wilbur cared about him the most that he had in a while- almost late l’manburgian levels. and during boundless sands, he realized that if he truly cared for c!tommy’s well being and safety, he needed to let go. he was the problem, or at least a big part of it. it would hurt, yes, and c!tommy wouldn’t do so well in the beginning, but once he moved on, it would get better. c!tommy would be better than he ever could be with c!wilbur there. what c!wilbur didn’t realize, though, was that the period of not moving on could have worse consequences than just a bout of depression.
anyway that’s my rambling analysis. i haven’t actually watched too many lore streams so forgive me if i get things horribly wrong lol.

i have ideas on how i think the wilbur resurrection should go. like, wilbur himself said that bringing someone back from the dead was near impossible because they didn't want to lessen the impact of the 3 death system. so, what if it takes a complicated ritual that is also super expensive.
basically a short short about the materials under the read more.
defying death isn't easy nor is it cheap. phil and eret knew that when they first started the research to bring wilbur back from the dead but to have it quantified in front of them? it would take a while.
phil and eret looked up from the book that dream had finally given up and then at each other. eret moved their eyes towards where fundy, tubbo, and tommy were all standing and raised their eyebrow. phil shook his head minutely and grimaced.
fundy noticed the exchange but said nothing. tommy and tubbo were too caught up in playing chopsticks to notice that phil and eret were done reading the ritual book.
tommy lost so he looked up and at the others. "whats the hold up?" he asked.
"its just," eret paused, "more expensive than i think we were expecting."
tubbo walked over to try and peak in the book but phil slammed it closed before he could. "well thats not suspicious," he said sarcastically.
"snooping hands get snooping punishments," phil replied easily.
tommy threw his hands in the ar and exclaimed, "we just want to help bring wilbur back! why won't you fucking let us?"
"yeah," tubbo chimed in, "let us help."
"well," eret hedged, "it's not that we don't trust you-"
tommy's eyes narrowed. "who said anything about trust," tommy said venomously, "traitor." tubbo placed a calming hand on tommy's arm and shook his head. tommy relaxed but continued to glare at eret.
"as i was saying," eret continued slowly, "it's just the distribution for who gets what items isn't going to be fair."
fundy spoke up from where he was quietly watching. "what does that mean?"
"we need a wither rose and 3 nether stars and i'd rather we leave that to phil." phil looked at them questioningly, but he let them speak. "we also need 5 totems of undying which means we need to talk to foolish. so fundy, you and i should handle that. but we also need a zombie head and 2 blocks of netherite."
"2 BLOCKS OF NETHERITE," tommy yelled. "2 FUCKING BLOCKS OF NETHERITE!"
tubbo winced. "2 blocks is a lot of netherite. are you sure?"
"yes, they're sure." phil spoke up. "i'm sorry eret, but why should i handle the wither rose and the nether stars?"
eret hissed slightly and tilted their head in apology. "i was hoping you would be able to convince technoblade to help you kill the withers and safely get a wither rose."
"uh, actually," fundy cut in, "i have a wither rose we can use." everyone looked at fundy while he looked down at the ground ashamed.
"the fuck?" tommy said.
"i was, uh, gonna give it to dream." he paused and sniffled, "before everything else happened."
phil crinkled his nose but looked at fundy worriedly. "are you sure about us using it for this?"
fundy kicked at the ground. "i should have gotten rid of the flower sooner but... i never did. this fucking works i guess." he shoved his hands in his pockets and looked away sadly.
philza raised his eyebrows at fundy's morose figure but he let it go and turned back to eret. "why should i ask techno help me?" he asked.
"because techno is the strongest in the land. he can protect you if the wither starts to overwhelm you." eret smiled sadly at tubbo and tommy and then looked down at the book in phil's hands. "plus, i think of this group, you are the only one not traumatized by withers."
tommy looked down at the ground shamefacedly. "so that leaves tubbo and i to get two blocks of netherite and a zombie head," he mumbled.
tubbo gently bumped against tommy and gave him a reassuring look. "we got this," tubbo said kindly. "we could even make a little competition out of who gets a netherite block first." tommy looked a little happier with the idea of a competition to break through the monotony of netherite mining.
fundy spoke up. "the totems won't be too hard to get, i think," he said. "once we have them, i'll help with the netherite and i'm sure eret will help as well."
eret walked over to fundy and grabbed him in a friendly headlock. "of course i'll help," they said. "just as a heads up, i may ask foolish to come help with the ritual."
fundy twisted and looked up at eret, "why?" he half whined, half asked.
"because," and eret squeezed tighter for a half second, "he's the father of all totems of undying. wouldn't it be better to have his blessing?"
tubbo shrugged and looked at tommy who also shrugged. "makes sense i guess."
phil whistled and everyone turned towards him. "so we all know what were going to do, right?" he looked at everyone and once they all nodded he continued, "let's meet in a week, here, to update each other on how it's going to with gathering all the materials." everyone nodded again and he smiled. "alrighty. i have to go make dinner so i'm going to head back now."
tommy waved to phil as he and tubbo turned to walk away. "it was good to see you again," tommy said calmly, "we'll see you in a week."
tubbo winked at phil, "tell ranboo i said hi, please!" and he started to walk backwards to keep looking at tommy while they were talking.
fundy watched their disappearing figures before he turned to phil and eret. "i know you're hiding something from us." both of them started to speak but fundy held his hand up to stop them. "i... i just don't have the energy to try and figure it out. you'll tell us eventually." he scoffed. "the truth tends to find it's way out there, one way or the other." with that said, he started to walk away as well. "buh-bye," he said as he waved over his shoulder.
"so..." eret hedged.
"so," phil replied.
eret sighed. "i'm not going to tell them." phil looked at them in suprise. "but!" eret continued quickly, "i don't think a sheep sacrifice is going to work."
phil shook his head. "from what other scraps of information i was able to gather," phil paused and talked quieter, "it takes a sacrifice of equivalent value."
eret inhaled sharply. "someone on their last life."
"yeah," phil said, "or someone with only one life."
"i think there's a long line of people who would tell you not to do that."
phil shrugged. "i took him out of this world, i should bring him back in."
eret laughed shortly. "you know, i don't think thats how that quote goes." phil shrugged and they stood in silence.
"i should go," phil said. "i'll see you soon eret."
"see you then." eret gave a two finger salute and started towalk away. they paused and said over their shoulder, "think about everyone you would leave behind, okay?"
phil said nothing.

Can we get some dream smp fandom positivity posts? As someone who posts mostly analysis and has never once had someone say anything rude in response, I think we perceive the fanbase as more toxic than it is because of a few outspoken individuals. Y'all are pretty chill and I like you.
In no particular order-
I love that Eret’s fans come up with such cool theories, I swear she could give you two sentences of lore and I could see three five page essays on what it could mean about their character within an hour and each of them is unique, intricate, and makes logical sense.
I love the compilations Foolish fans make of him doing ridiculous things on stream, he’s a fun guy that never fails to make me laugh and everything I see from them embodies that energy to me.
I love how creative Hannah’s fans are, you take the awesome ideas she has and turn them into the most amazing designs and concepts.
I love that Techno’s fans might write a ten page essay about his character or just say they enjoy watching him do crime, and you never know which it will be because both come from the same people.
I love how Philza’s fans embrace everything he does with so much enthusiasm. His chat is a flock of crows? Excellent, they can work with that, you will see fifty incredible pieces of art and a hundred theories in the first hour and they’re just getting started.
I love that Niki’s fans are so careful to pay attention and not miss any details. It has been ages and I still see occasional mentions and theories about the “Dear Friend” letter.
I love that Fundy’s fans are very empathetic, they love to find and elaborate on the connections between characters and that’s pretty cool!
I love Tommy’s fans for their energy. They seem passionate about making things right and hopeful that no matter what your situation is things can get better. I’ve seen so many breathtakingly emotional art pieces from this side of the fandom.
I love that George’s fans unapologetically simp for him but then catch me off guard by making deep insights about his character.
I love how Bad’s fans are as genuinely sweet as he is, they’re willing to really look at everything that makes up a character and see the tragedy of it and have compassion about things. And some just want to see an egg rule the server, c'mon, it would be funny.
I love the running gag with Skeppy fans of making Skeppy critical posts, y’all are hilarious.
I love how Purpled fans play up his lack of lore as him being an incredibly powerful cryptid, and they’re right. He totally carried the wither fight on Nov 16th.
I love the balance Quackity fans have between a love of humor, justice, and darker topics. I think like Quackity they are often underestimated and thought of as the jokester side of the fandom to an extent, and then I start reading things they write and it’s well thought out and insightful.
I love that Tubbo’s fans love chaos, cute things, or both to an unhealthy extent. Seeing anything from them reminds me of princess unikitty in all the best ways, and then they turn around and throw a super in depth meaningful analysis at me in the next breath.
I love everything about Sapnap’s fans. Y'all are perfect. The writing and art from the born in fire line? Gold.
I love how Jschlatt fans are generally chill and just enjoy whatever they want to. Their favorite Manburg president was the one who publicly executed his right hand man and gave Dream a resurrection book for firepower, and he looked good doing it.
I love that Callahan has fans. You people are dedicated and I respect it. The fact that Callahan was one of the first names to pop up when everyone was trying to figure out who Harpocrates was even though he rarely involves himself with plot? Your influence knows no bounds.
I love that Alyssa’s fans are simply too powerful. She hasn’t played on the smp since way before I started watching and there are still people defending her barn and drawing pictures of her.
I love that Antfrost’s fans have taken so many ideas and just ran with them and made them awesome. Like him practicing magic? Perfect, he now carries potions and gets a wizard hat.
I love that Dream fans look at a character who has been portrayed as pure evil from many points of view and understand that Everyone has motives based on their situation, even if it isn’t handed to us in an easily understood way.
I love how Jack’s fans are so ready to support any action he takes. Crawling out of hell? Incredible. Killing a child? Good for him! Go team Rocket. Grieving the same child? Learning healthy coping, he’s the coolest.
I love that Connor eats Pants fans are the most reasonable people in this fandom. This is terrifying. Thank you for your service, you always make me smile.
I love that Punz fans unapologetically just love their capitalist mercenary. As they should, his presence always tips the scales and everything he does brings more depth to the characters and plots he interacts with.
I love how much Ranboo fans love complexity. Most of them aren’t afraid to admit that their favorite characters are flawed, because aren’t those flaws what make them interesting and relatable?
I love the variety of Hbomb fans. Half of them may be embracing the cat maid bit while the other half goes on about how impactful and cool L’cast is, but they’re all super chill.
I appreciate that Puffy fans take the time to understand so many perspectives. So many posts I see involving her tie in lore from other characters and find interesting ways to connect them and build them together, kind of like Puffy herself.
I love that Wilbur fans seem to approach the story like they’re solving a puzzle, carefully piecing together details from months apart to figure out how and why everything goes down.
I love how hard Ponk fans work to spread awareness of how awesome he is. Ponk says and does wonderful things and is very fun to watch. I never would have tried his content without them.
I love that Karl fans saw him wanting to be involved and started coming up with such cool ideas around his character that they actually made them canon. Correct me if I’m wrong, wasn’t the time traveler thing a fan theory at first?
I love the creativity Sam fans have with his design and their willingness to discuss complex moral issues. Sam is involved in some heavy lore stuff but he and his fans keep things entertaining and calm.
I’m sure I missed some things, please feel free to add on!

Incoming ramble talking about how I. Don't really like the Ghostboo stuff.
Starting off. c!Ranboo was literally only killed so cc!Ranboo could hit the reset button on his character. Which I can kinda get, from what cc!Ranboo said it seemed like he was having trouble keeping up with all of c!Ranboo's plotlines and stuff.
But I feel like there were other ways that he could have reset his character without killing him off and adding more angst?? Ways that could have gave some semblance of a conclusion to all the other little plot lines he had going on??
That, and we already have two characters dealing with death/revival and the aftereffects so its not like we're really getting anything new, aside from the fact that Ghostboo has all his memories and its likely that c!Ranboo will too when he inevitably gets resurrected. Which again... probably could have been accomplished without killing him out of nowhere, but I won't bee too harsh because I don't know what goes on in the DSMP writing channel.
That aside- c!Ranboo lost two canon lives off screen. They'd had to have happened in the past few months actually, given that around the time that c!Tommy was planning to break into the prison to kill c!Dream, c!Ranboo literally says he can afford to be reckless because he has all three canon lives. And now he suddenly doesn't. Like the fact that canon deaths majorly affect characters lives is what gives them weight, otherwise they'd just be like any other death and respawn in the game. But c!Ranboo just?? Lost two whole lives off screen?? So yeah, that's a little annoying.
On top of that, I feel like because of everything else going on at the same time we weren't really given the chance to feel the impact of c!Ranboo's death. Like c!Techno stays to fight for a bit but then he leaves and just. Tells c!Dream to fuck off and then we jump into the stuff with c!Tommy. It just felt so strangely?? Unimportant?? Or maybe that's not the right word. I just feel like something as big as a final canon death should have had more impact.
There's also Ghostboo seeming very... comfortable with the fact that he's dead. In an sorta suicidal way?? Maybe I'm interpreting things wrong, but if this is the case- it feels a little out of left field. Maybe I'm not as caught up on c!Ranboo lore as I think, but I don't recall c!Ranboo ever showing suicidal ideation. Like again I could totally be wrong but given the fact that cc!Ranboo had to clarify that c!Ranboo wasn't self harming with that splash potion of water, to have him just be very content with being dead feels a little weird???
There's a few other points I could probably touch on but I've already dropped a whole essay into your ask box so I'll leave you be for now <3
I absolutely agree with everything here. It was just so, lazy? like, no character that was supposedly attached to him reacted appropriately, there was no narrative purpose to his death, Ghostboo feels like a knockoff Ghostbur, it all just feels weird and wrong.
And c!Ranboo is just gone now? like, what does that mean for Wilbur's character, for everything that had been building up with Tubbo and Michael. c!Ranboo is gone now, and I should be sad, but I'm more just confused? like I should be sad, and I thought that cc!Ranboo cared about his character more? it's just so weird

dream resurrects wilbur soot on a friday.
at least, he thinks it's a friday. his clock was gone again, tossed into the lava curtain in a moment of rage. hard to measure time without something that changes as it goes.
(he had absentmindedly noted that wilbur had been killed on a monday, and tommy had left dream's cell on a friday.)
in the early days of his imprisonment, sam would occasionally come into the cell to speak with him. it was rare, but it would happen. (dream pretended he didn't appreciate it. connections would only hurt him in the end.) now, in the post-tommy days, the most dream would ever get was a few impersonal words thrown through a curtain of lava so thick that any attempt to swim through it would lead to certain death.
in an attempt to stave off yet another bout of boredom, he decides to test out the resurrection book one final time.
(could it bring someone back without the body being present?)
wilbur soot comes back to the realm of the living on a friday. for real this time, not as a ghostly echo of himself.
the first thing he does is sit up in a panic, frantically trying to take in his surroundings and figure out where the fuck he was.
the second thing he does is see dream standing over him.
the third thing he does is punch dream square in the face.
he's wearing the mask, of course. he never takes it off. the sudden pain in his nose makes him want to.
(wilbur clutches his fist to his chest. dream's mask may not break, but the bones in a human hand certainly could. luckily, wilbur's did not.)
"what was that for?" dream asks. he'd just brought wilbur back to life, after all. the least that could be expected was a thank you. maybe a nice dream, i want to become your vassal again. (deep down, he knows exactly why he got punched.)
"that was for bringing me back to life, asshole." (it was nice in the darkness. nice and quiet. the smp didn't deserve wilbur soot. he didn't want to go back. never again.)
he sits back against the obsidian wall. (after nine years of no senses at all, everything's so overwhelming. the wall burns where he leans against it, heated by the lava that burns aftereffects into the edge of his vision. his hand throbs where his knuckles had smashed against a white mask.) "i didn't want to come back."
"that's what tommy told me," dream says with a smile, not that wilbur can see it. "he told me not to bring you back. not because you didn't want to come back, but because he was scared of you."
good, is wilbur's first thought, immediately followed by why?
"but, yknow, i got used to having someone else in here with me. a little something to fill the silence. and i needed to test out the book again so i thought.... why not?" (he was fine with the silence. he always had been. it was better if wilbur would think dream needed him for something, even if it was something as irrelevant as human company.)
wilbur sits against the obsidian, eyes closed, not responding.
dream lets the silence stretch on for somewhere around a minute. time had never been his forte, even back when he actually had something to track it with.
"are you ever actually going to speak?" dream asks him.
"i just got brought back to life. give me a fucking minute, it's been over nine years since i last saw actual light and it's fucking everything up."
(it fit with what tommy had said. if two days was two months, wilbur had been dead for... a while. somewhere around four months in real time. time moved faster when you were dead.)
dream had expected him to be angrier, honestly. the wilbur who had died at philza's hands had been all drama, all emotion, flinging around whatever he was feeling (typically some form of anger or despair) and not caring who it hurt.
this wilbur, however? he just looks tired. even then, when he bares his teeth in a smile, there's a hint of that same old madness.
"how's l'manberg?" he asks.
"gone." dream answers.
"good. it should stay that way."
"it has. i made sure of it. so has technoblade. so has philza."
wilbur breathes out. "thank you." a pause, just for a few seconds. "are we ever going to get out of this one room?"
he's fully smiling behind the mask now. "of course we are. someone owes me a favor."

A Successful Test
Summary: What if Nikki had successfully lead Tommy to the test sight but the reader comes to help the young boy?
Pairings: Platonic! Tommy x F! reader, Mentioned Wilbur x F! Reader
Warnings! : Angst, Depressive thoughts, Death
A/N :Psst, there’s now a Part Two
Tommy heard static from the walkie on his belt, taking it off to give it a good smack (which usually worked), but only static continued to pour from the device.
“Damn, my walkie’s busted, what about yours Niki?” Tommy looked to the older woman as he put the device back on his belt.
“Oh, I left mine back at my base.” Niki lied, hers safely tucked deep in her inventory bag. “Come on, not much further.”
The young boy rolled his eyes at her persistence but followed none the less to this so-called giant forest of spruce trees. He just wanted to get his damn hotel finish, why couldn’t he just cut down the wood around them?
Niki was being forceful though, whenever he tried, she’d just pull him along as he rambled on to fill the void of silence. Tommy hated how she was acting. This wasn’t like how she used to be back when…L’Manberg was still standing. God, why couldn’t have (Y/N) met up with him like she promised? Maybe it would be a lot different instead.
He frowned at the thought of his older sister figure. If only his stupid walkie was working, he’d ask her where she wound up. Maybe she got caught up in her research again; she wanted to see if she could successfully resurrect Wilbur before Dream had the chance in hopes, everything would right. She didn’t trust Dream as far as she could throw him and Tommy didn’t blame her in the slightest.
Tommy smiled fondly at the thoughts of (Y/N). She had been the only one to visit him and Ghostbur. Of course, he suspected she just really wanted to see the ghost of her boyfriend, but she always assured him that she wanted to spend time with him as well. There were times when she’d bring him gifts to help his progress that he’d hide so Dream would never find them. Dream…did find them though and Tommy went into hiding with Technoblade. The hug she had given him when she found out he was alive and well.
The scolding was a much less fond memory in his mind but he was still glad to see her. And the scolding he got after getting his discs back alive! That was much scarier than going against Dream.
Tubbo nor Tommy had told the older woman they were going to their possible final battle. It was their battle and they knew she also walked with only one life left to her name. They weren’t going to let her lose it protecting them…again. But, when she had walked through that portal after Punz, Tommy couldn’t explain how much relief filled him as (Y/N) gripped a netherite ax and wore her best gear as she glared daggers at Dream. Of course, after they got the scolding, but the relief in the moment was greatly needed.
However, he hadn’t seen her as much after Dream’s declaration that he could bring Wilbur back. She had been researching ways to bring him back before, but after Dream’s announcement, her time spent pouring over books was increased by tenfold. (Y/N) did like Ghostbur but both she and Tommy missed their Wilbur. So, she had cut back the time she had spent with the younger boys but they both understood. Tommy just missed being able to talk shit with her and going to her for comfort when he remembered…the bad things.
Between all his thoughts, thinking about (Y/N), he didn’t notice he had stopped talking and now Niki was slowing down. Tommy frowned deeply, there wasn’t a tree in sight.
“Nikki…what’s going on?” Tommy asked her, his hand resting on the Axe of Peace, a little suspicious of her intentions.
“I’m not sure.” She muttered before taking out an ender pearl. “Wait right here. I’m going to look ahead.”
Tommy huffed as she threw the pearl and was further away from him. He waited a moment before shaking his head.
“Fuck this shit.” He murmured, turning back towards the spruce forest behind him.
As he did, he squinted his eyes seeing a figure sprinting towards him.
“…(Y/N)?!” He looked at her surprised.
Before he knew it, he jumped back as his sister figure appeared in front of him after the shattering of a pearl. She looked disheveled and most certainly was out of breath.
“We got to fucking go.” She said frantically, putting a pearl in his hand.
“What? What’s going on? Nikki just…”
“THERE’S NO TIME!” She shouted, startling Tommy. “THROW THE GOD DAMN PEARL! I’ll be behind you!”
Tommy wasn’t going to ask her twice. He threw the pearl towards the forest and landed right at the tree line. Shaking his head, he went to look around him, jumping once more when he heard something loud go by, the leaves on the trees being disturbed by the object. Looking up, Tommy’s eyes went wide.
“That’s one of Tubbo’s…” He muttered, the nuke going to land.
He followed the path of where the object was about to land and his eyes went wider.
“(Y/N)!” He screamed at the top of his lungs.
The young woman was still standing in the middle of the field, hands on her knees as she smiled softly to herself. She had no more pearls and she had no time, but she didn’t mind.
She saved Tommy and that’s all she wanted…
“SHIT! (Y/N)!” Tommy shouted as he started to sprint for her, but it was too late.
Tommy was thrown back at the intensity of the explosion, his ears ringing loudly, eyes shut tight at the light, and smoke filling the air. He coughed as his arms shook trying to push himself up.
It was a lie; she’d still be there. He had to be dreaming! He’d wake up and she’d tell him he was alright! Just another bad dream!
Giving another cough, he blinked his eyes open and saw the hole in front of him. This time, he choked on a sob as he shakily stood up. There…there was no way she would have survived…
Closing his eyes tightly, he wished it all to be a nightmare. It was all a nightmare.
But the ringing in his ears told him otherwise.
The smoke in his lungs told him otherwise.
The emotional and physical pain coursing through his body told him otherwise.
With his eyes still closed, he took the walkie off. Even if it was broken, he knew it would show him the one message he always hated seeing. The message of a lost life. Opening his eyes, tears filled them while his hands shook.
        (Y/N) blew up.
Even though he couldn’t hear it, Tommy screamed as he threw the walkie away from him in the snow. He screamed with anger, pain…sadness.
His legs gave out on him and he fell to the ground, giving another scream before he pulled his legs close to him. She shouldn’t have done that.
None of this should have happened!
        How did this happen!?
Tears fell rapidly down his cheeks as he coughed and sobbed.
All the bad thoughts from exile came rushing back and he gripped his hair.
        This was his fault.
        It should have been him.
She wouldn’t have been here if it weren’t for you.
        “Tommy!”
Tommy startled as he felt someone holding his shoulders, the ringing in his ears had died down slightly. Looking up as he sobbed, he saw Tubbo. His best friend…the maker of the nuke…
“YOU KILLED HER!” Tommy screamed, jumping back from the other boy. “YOUR NUKE KILLED HER!”
Tubbo had tears in his eyes well, having gotten the message as well. He hoped it wasn’t true. He looked at the crater…a successful test…but at what cost?
“I—I warned everyone! I—No one should have—Why were you—?” Tubbo was running his hands through his hair frantically.
Jack stood at the edge of the crater, away from the pair as he kept his anger in as best, he could. She fucked up and got an innocent killed with Tommy still breathing.
“What happened?” Tubbo whispered to Tommy.
Tommy almost didn’t hear him with the remaining ringing left in his ears but he caught it. The blonde shook his head frantically as he held his head.
“She…She saved me…Then that fucking nuke came and killed her!” Tommy yelled.
Tubbo shook as he hugged himself, staring at the crater. He’d…he’d caused this…
“Why were you out here?!” Tubbo took his turn to shout, tears pouring down his face. “I told everyone not to come to snow biomes!”
“My walkie was busted! Nikki didn’t have hers!” Tommy held his head as the pain was overwhelming.
First Wilbur! Now…now (Y/N). None of this could be fucking real!
“Nikki? What does she have to do with this?!” Tubbo cried in frustration and sadness.
“I—I don’t know! Ok?! I can’t think Tubbo!” Tommy screamed. “I—I can’t do this right now. I have to go.”
And Tommy ran. He just ran and ran.
(Y/N) had been with him through so much. The founding of L’Manberg, the revolution, the skirmishes after, the election, Pogtopia, Wilbur’s betrayal on the both of them, his exile, the final stand for L’Manberg!
They fought together, they laughed together, they smiled together.
And all he could think about was how he would brush her off, how he didn’t need a woman to help him, how he used to make fun of her and Wilbur’s relationship, how he never told her how much he loved her being like a sister to him, how he never told her how much he appreciated her help…
Tommy fell into the snow, gripping onto his jacket as he sobbed.
He sat here breathing when the world had lost one of the best…

- Tommy walks over to look at the prison. He has a plan to kill Dream.
- He briefly greets Sam Nook and shelters him from the rain
- First, he heads over to Snowchester to explain to Tubbo and Ranboo what’s gong on. He makes it there and looks in the mansion. Foolish sees him, having thought he was dead.
- Tubbo and Ranboo come over and explain the manor house. To discuss business, they go to the execution room.
- Tommy asks Tubbo about getting married without him. Then Tommy opens up to Ranboo about feeling lonely about Ranboo stealing his best friend.
- He then tells the both of them that he died in prison and Dream is planning on breaking out. When he was dead, he spoke to Schlatt and Wilbur. Tubbo asks if Schlatt’s changed his ways.
- Tommy explains that time passes faster in death.
- Someone made an explosion on the top of the prison, Technoblade owes Dream a favor and might be a problem, Tommy wants to stake out the prison.
- Tubbo asks why it’s different now. Why didn’t they just kill him to begin with? Tommy tells Tubbo that he’s only planning on reviving Wilbur. The revive book wouldn’t be used for good.
- Ranboo agrees with Tommy. Tubbo asks why they wouldn’t want to revive Wilbur — Tommy tells them that Wilbur’s different now and can’t be let back. Tubbo still has doubts about the plan.
- They decide to make a space near the prison to observe.
- Tubbo leads them to his detective room
- Tommy tells them that Sam has failed his job and went against his orders to not let anybody else visit. Ranboo and Tubbo ask who else has visited since — Tommy doesn’t know.
- Tubbo shows him the evidence.
- They go back to Tommy’s house and Tommy reads Puffy’s message.
- The Egg comes up in conversation. Ranboo thinks it’ll solve itself.
- They go into the Nether to gather resources
- They spot Punz on top of the Eggpire meeting room and briefly speak with him. Ghostbur also shows up.
- Tommy asks if Ghostbur remembers him being dead and speaking with him. Ghostbur says the last time he spoke with Tommy was a couple days ago.
- Tommy asks about Wilbur, not Ghostbur. Ghostbur’s been away, he doesn’t remember.
- Ghostbur points out how everything is red. He likes it, red’s a good color. Like blue but wrong.
- Tommy asks Ghostbur if he wants Wilbur to come back.
Ghostbur: “The world needs structure and order, and he was good at that.” Tommy: “The world needs less villains, and he was a villain if I’ve ever seen one.” Ghostbur: “Sometime’s the line’s a little blurry… A villain is just a hero you haven’t convinced yet.”
Tommy: “No, but he started as a hero, and then he was the villain. I don’t think we should bring him back ever.”
- Ghostbur loves being able to walk around, he loves being able to touch things
- Tommy tells Ghostbur that he spent months with Wilbur, and Wilbur can’t come back. Ghostbur asks about the time conversion in Limbo.
Apparently in the afterlife, Wilbur spent a month explaining hemorrhoids
- They show Ghostbur the prison
- Ghostbur asks why Tommy doesn’t want Wilbur back again. Tommy says when they were trying to bring him back, he still thought there was some “brotherness” there
- Ghostbur points out he spent a lot of time with Schlatt, and Schlatt’s “the bad guy.” Schlatt and Eret.
- They say there are a lot of other bad guys out there, like Dream. Ghostbur says Dream was nice to him, though.
- They ask about Tubbo and Ranboo’s marriage (they got married for tax reasons initially) and they also bring up Michael.
- They introduce Ghostbur to Michael.
- Eret points out that he tried to revive Wilbur a while ago in chat. Ghostbur doesn’t remember.
- They head to the McPuffy’s and encounter Connor on the Prime Path. He gives Ghostbur his stabbin’ knife back. Ghostbur asks if Connor has his Chekhov’s Gun.
- They introduce Ghostbur to Sam Nook
- Sam Nook tells Tommy that Awesam gave him specific orders to keep Tommy away from the prison for his own safety. He says he might have to report this to Awesam, and he won’t be pleased.
- They continue building the tower
- Ranboo tells Ghostbur he hasn’t seen him in a while. Ghostbur’s been sleeping. The resurrection was stressful — he got a glimpse of the other side. He’s back because Tommy needed him, and he heard it through the grapevine.
- Ghostbur asks why they’re trying to break into the prison again. Ranboo explains that they need to kill Dream, or else a lot of bad things — even things Tommy doesn’t know about — might happen.
- Ghostbur says that Dream was a bad guy, but then they were friends. Ranboo explains that Dream tends to manipulate to gain power, and they need to get rid of him because he still has power.
- Ghostbur asks what the worst he could do is — Ranboo says he could bring back the “villains” in this story.
Schlatt? Mexican Dream?
- Ghostbur asks if bringing back Wilbur is off the table. Ghostbur is scared. Not scared of Wilbur, but scared of going back to nothing. He likes being here.
- Ranboo never knew Wilbur, only Ghostbur. But it seems like Ghostbur is Wilbur’s good intentions.
- Ghostbur’s read Wilbur’s memoirs (though they’re destroyed now), and explains that Wilbur started out with good intentions.
Ghostbur: “Now more than ever, I think it’s really important we have a leader.”
- Ghostbur is willing to help, whether that means keeping Ghostbur or bringing back Wilbur. Ranboo doesn’t know what would be best, though.
Ghostbur: “History is written by the winners.” Ranboo: “Yeah, and he…technically won.” Ghostbur: “But he lost, everyone hates him.” Ranboo: “I don’t think that everyone hates him. I don’t really hate him, I mean it’s like hearing about a historical figure.”
- Ghostbur leaves to get snacks, leaving Ranboo to ponder. Tubbo never told him much about Wilbur. He doesn’t know — he doesn’t think they need a leader.
Ranboo: “Because if someone rules everyone, then when the leader becomes corrupted, then — well, we see what happens.”
- He doesn’t think anyone really wants Wilbur back, so why is it even a question? All they know is that they have to kill Dream. The only person who might want Wilbur back would be Phil.
- If they can get rid of Dream, then everything will be good! If Dream comes out of prison, the voice might come back too. And the one thing Dream will want is revenge against the people who put him in the prison in the first place.
- Ranboo needs to be involved and not stand idly by. As the person with three lives, he has the upper hand.
- Ghostbur returns with snacks! He also gives Ranboo some blue
- Ranboo goes back to his house and looks at his vault, where he has an extra set of maxed Netherite armor. The others need new sets prepared.
- Puffy sees the Red Banquet decorations being set up in the Egg Room
- As she walks around on the surface, she talks about how Tommy is making an effort to better himself with therapy
- She’s heard a rumor today about her “duckling,” Dream — that people are plotting to kill him.
- Dream has done wrong, she says,
“But, more than anything else…murder…is not a proper consequence to another murder. Two wrongs don’t make a right. And although I’m not a Dream apologist — believe me I hold him more accountable than most — there’s a reason that I haven’t visited him. And…it’s because I don’t think, right now, he deserves it. But…as much as he’s wronged Tommy, as much as maybe Tommy thinks this will help him in the long run, in some way, shape or form…I think it’s gonna hurt Tommy more than anything. I think, ultimately, Tommy’s gonna feel guilty for this and we don’t — I don’t know how he’s gonna handle it! I don’t know if Tommy’s meant to be the one to go through something like this again, even if it results in Dream’s death.”
“See…the thing about morals is, everybody has different ones.”
- She says Dream needs to pay, and the walls of the prison aren’t secure enough to contain his chaos. She doesn’t think it’s as impenetrable as Sam says it is.
- Dream is stuck in prison, but he’s still the topic of discussion on everyone’s minds — which Puffy sees as the jail not doing its job.
- Everybody has now seen how they’ve reacted to Tommy’s death, including the people who didn’t care, and they now have to come to terms with that.
“More than just therapy is coming to the Dream SMP."

So, you think c!Wilbur has experienced no consequences. Let me debunk that.
A common c!Wilbur critique point is that "he experienced no consequences for his actions, and should therefore be punished if he is resurrected". This point relies on the idea that death is freeing to him, and as a result, he managed to escape without ever having to suffer for his crimes.
For once, I'm going to put the terrible point about suicide being an escape from consequences aside (not that it doesn't debunk the critique point quite well anyway), and cover some actual reasons why this claim is actually pretty inaccurate.
This post is under a read-more, for your convenience.
Main Point: Be Honest, The Void Is Inhumane
After dying, Wilbur was sent to the afterlife. The afterlife is an expansive void, with absolutely nothing inside it. To be in it is, supposedly, like constantly being torn apart on a fundamental level, and put back together again. There are no senses, no colours, no nothing - at most, you'll be able to summon a semblance of the feeling of the concept of an item.
To put it shortly - this is forced sensory deprivation.
Okay. Alright, sensory deprivation is a therapy, right? How is this so bad? Wilbur seemed to be pretty chipper, didn't he?
Nope. This isn't just "sensory deprivation". This is FORCED sensory deprivation. Did you know that extensive forced sensory deprivation can result in, and I quote, "extreme anxiety, hallucinations, bizarre thoughts, temporary senselessness, and depression"? In extreme cases, it might be comparable to torture. It literally has been used in the real world as torture before.
Also, did you know that even fifteen minutes spent in a similar situation will trigger psychosis-like symptoms in even a mentally healthy person?
Well, Wilbur's spent thirteen and a half years there, so far. Non-stop. And he wasn't exactly mentally healthy when he was going in. Not to mention that we know his mental health has declined since headed in, because he holds all of his prior, self-deprecating beliefs, and reportedly talks about unsettling topics.
(Now do you see why it's actually not surprising in the slightest that Wilbur hasn't gotten any better in the Void? Get the dude some goddamn therapy.)
Forced sensory deprivation is an inhumane condition. If you're willing to believe that Dream was being negatively affected by the Prison despite holding up a brave face (which he was), hold the same energy for the guy who notoriously hid his crippling depression during his Presidency, okay?
The "he asked for it" defense does not apply to the void, by the way. Wilbur asked for death, not for an infinitely persistent consciousness.
Extra Point: Literally Everything Else
I may as well bring it up in brief on this post. Wilbur hasn't done a single thing on this server that hasn't resulted in a consequence.
He tried to set up a business? Sure, it was a little bit scammy, but he ended up being shot for making fun of a policeman, and his friends ended up detained without trial. (They never even got to the potion brewing bit, and that's what the police kept citing to him as the law break.)
He tried to make a nation? Someone declared war on him, skipping every negotiation step. Clearly the land didn't matter, because it got blown up in front of him. He was killed, and his family hurt for him.
Okay. He tried to instill elections? He won the popular vote? Someone's played the system and declared themself emperor. Oh, and he's exiled now.
Everything Wilbur has done has been in response to consequences. That's a point a lot of people bring up against him, but... why? Why against him? He's experienced consequences, tried to continue despite them, and gone on to just face more consequences.
And as much as you can try to argue something like "the exile was justifiable", it wasn't. Schlatt had no proof that they'd actually rise against him yet. Wilbur was actually conceding. Even if they "might" have risen against him, there was no evidence to prove that yet, so the exile was completely tyrannical.
Conclusion: Wilbur has experienced consequences, and I'm not sure where the idea that he hasn't has come from.

Okay, holy crap did we get an interesting stream yesterday! Time for an analysis of it!
So, there is a lot of confusion surrounding the stream and, more importantly, c!Wilbur himself. So I wanted to try and interpret this whole thing at the best of my abilities for my own sanity.
Before that though there are a few things we have to keep in mind:
For something to be manipulation there needs to be intent on the side of the manipulator, which can be quite hard to establish in some cases
A lot of c!Wilbur’s confusing thoughts and constantly fluctuating opinions come from a general lack of knowledge, his own faulty worldview and his incredible overestimation of his own impact in the world, which I’ll talk about more later, more so then what actually would appear to be an intentionally manipulative behaviour
One more thing to point out is that Wilbur sees his life as a spectacle. To him reaching his “desired conclusion” the first time was a victory and he seems to have started on a sort of scripted “redemption arc”, and I mean scripted within the narrative not meta wise, (in which he’s trying to drag Tommy into as well) after he had his self-proclaimed “villain arc” in Pogtopia, however this view is faulty at best...
We also have to keep in mind that c!Wilbur is truly a relict from the past at this point. He places an incredible amount of value on “factions” and “leadership” and has a very black and white world view, but things have changed a lot since he was around and they’re much more complicated then that now which leaves him with a complete lack of understanding for the world around him and possibly with no tools to correct that lack of understanding
And for last, let’s keep in mind that Wilbur is an INCREDIBLY UNRELIABLE narrator. We cannot trust everything that comes out of his mouth so let’s not take everything blindly as fact
Also, while all I’ve just said is true Tommy is still 100% entitled to not trust him at all and to not be sympathetic towards him, even without considering this stream (and trust me: I’ll get to that one) because their history together is not great. Keep in mind that they were basically alone during Pogtopia and that Wilbur always sorta grouped himself and Tommy together (as in Wilbur considered BOTH of them to be “the bad guys” and BOTH of them to be bad for the server and better off dead) and he was always extremely manipulative in the ways that he used to try and get Tommy to believe his world view as well (and he seemed to adopt a similar behaviour in the stream, but I’ll get to that one later). Sadly that also means that Tommy isn’t a reliable narrator at all for what concerns Wilbur...
Okay, now with all the introduction out of the way the proper analisys will be under the cut! Be advised that it’ll treat some very heavy topics (like abuse, manipulation etc) so, you know, keep that in mind.
The stream I’ll be using for this one is: Meet the latest resurrected gentleman of L'manburg, though I may take some things from: Wilbur Is Revived.
The stream starts with Tommy and Wilbur meating up on the glass covering the L’Manburg crater. Right after we have a bit of banter with Wilbur openly mocking Ghostbur, ignoring Tommy’s discomfort at the subject, like always. I wanna say it right now that the dismissal of whatever Tommy is feeling and whatever he says that does not align with Wilbur’s idea of Tommy is not something new. It’s a behaviour Wilbur developed all throughout the Pogtopia times. He may look like he listens to Tommy a bit more during this stream, but he never takes into account anything he says and constantly dismisses anything he feels, so we know that’s not true. Of course, Wilbur is not the only person who exibited this behaviour (Tommy often gets dismissed when he speaks and if re-watching exile taught me anything is that Dream was also very keen on dismissing all of his emotions).
Also one of the first things Wilbur asks about is his Chekhov's gun, which Tommy moves on from quickly without answering (propably because it got destroyed by Dream while Tommy had it).
“Hey pu- Hey! Put Friend down!” “Wh-why? He’s gonna come with us!” “I don’t want you... no he could die!” “And? It’s a sheep Tommy, who cares about-” “Calm down man! I know- I know that you have the power of eternity over him, but just put him down!” “No! I’m just saying: who cares about a sheep man? It’s just a sheep. Just come...” “Oh I fucking...” “What?! It’s just a sheep my man!”
Once again dismissal of Tommy’s emotions, but also an introduction to the theme of attachments that seems like will be important once again. This time the conflict that’s introduced surrounding attachments is not about their intrinsic value (like it was in season 2) but it seems to be that of attachments vs ideals. In this case what we’re presented with is seemingly a detachment from Wilbur (though we can’t say if it’s volountary, like in Dream’s case, or just an effect of his depression yet).
“Tommy... I’m sorry” “Wait what are you- are you gonna kill me?” “No no sorry” “You’re gonna wack me?” “Ignore the Lore Sword, I’m- I don’t- I’m not good at this man. I need to make some apologies. I told you I needed to have a think and I don’t think an apology would ever sum up... uh... what I did here. I mean look at this mess!” *looking at the crater of L’Manburg* “You did this! Well, not all of it, you did a little bit” “Yeah... I didn’t do the glass. But like I think- I think that I do need to, I need to apologize to some people! You know, I’m gonna- I’m gonna make amends!”
Okay, there are a lot of things to unpack here:
1) Tommy’s immediate reaction to Wilbur apparently softening up while holding a sword is to expect to be hit, probably because of residual trauma from exile where Dream would act in a similar manner
2) Wilbur seems to recognise that he needs to apologize to people, but he doesn’t actually seem to regret anything or doesn’t understand WHAT he needs to apologize for (which is the reason why he only apologizes to people he hasn’t hurt, didn’t know or doesn’t particularly care about). He doesn’t apologize to Tommy for example, his “I’m sorry” at the beginning isn’t directed at Tommy as much as it’s a general statement (this could have something to do with him lumping himself and Tommy together as the bad guys of course). Also, remember that idea about Wilbur seeing his life as a show? Well, he did the villain arc so the only 2 possible ways to go after that are a repeat or a redemtion arc... this is him starting in on the second, while not actually believing in it
3) We already see Wilbur giving himself more importance then he actually did have. Tommy explains that he’s only resposible for a small part of the crater, but Wilbur doesn’t know that Techno, Phil and Dream did exactly what he did but bigger later on and assumes that all of it was done by him (probably making him think that he’s had a decidedly bigger impact then he actually did)
“Well I’m in my forties now Tommy, I counted the years man... how old are you now? You must be what, like, 20? 30?” (Wilbur does not seem to be aware of the time dilatation that occurs in Limbo)
It’s also interesting that Wilbur asks Tommy of all people to give him a tour. I mean, the two were close before and Tommy is the only one who stayed by his side through everything, but Tommy already expressed multiple times a dislike for Wilbur even directly stating to his face in the revival stream that Wilbur should have stayed dead. My best guess is that what brought him to ask Tommy specifically despite that was a mix of being still in a similar mindset to Pogtopia where it was the two of them vs everyone else, Wilbur’s paranoia not having disappeared meaning he doesn’t trust anyone else and a sort of dependency Wilbur has developed on Tommy to avoid loneliness.
“No no! Will, you didn’t get a grave. This is just what you left behind” (destruction and a betrayal of trust are the only remains of who Wilbur used to be it seems)
“Here’s the thing Tommy: I know I was bad and I know I can- I know I can redeem myself but you know there’s- there’s a little bit of fun in being bad, you know, I mean, we’ve spoken about this” (callback to “let’s be the bad guys” and further confirmation that Wilbur isn’t truly interested in redemption as he still sees himself in the role of the villain)
The first person that Wilbur apologizes to is Skeppy who fits the category of “person he more or less knew, but never actually wronged”, meaning that one is a useless apology (and Wilbur seems to recognize that when he asks Skeppy to say one thing he did to him). (Also rip Friend Skeppy doesn’t deserve rights anymore).
“He was Ghostbur’s man! And I wish you’d stop disrespecting him” (technically about Friend but more broadly about Ghostbur as well)
“You see I’ve always seen myself as a bit of an iconoclast so I don’t think I’ll be getting involved in the whoel deity section” (Wilbur is canonically an atheist)
The second person Wilbur apologizes to is Jack Manifold, which is also when Wilbur starts excluding Tommy any time there is someone else there as well. Jack honestly fits in the category of people “Wilbur knew but didn’t really care about”, which is why his apology ends up being quite generic and not very accurate to the historical happenings. He apologized for leaving him behind when he got exiled but, once again, that never actually happened. Jack stayed back of his own volition there. He apologized for not granting Manifold Land independence, which would have been up to Dream. He apologizes for leading him into war which he simply never did, because Jack joined after. All this apologies are what Jack wants to hear, but none of them are true to what happened.
Either way, Tommy brings Wilbur to the roof of the hotel and they have quite the important conversation there. Tommy tries to tell Wilbur about when he decided to go see Dream for the last time, but Wilbur entirely dismisses him.
“I know you’ve had your little strife man” “But I died!” “But I don’t- I don’t care” (full dismissal)
They then end up talking about exile (Wilbur specifically is the one to bring it up).
“Tommy, I’ll tell you what, if I was there and it wasn’t that stupid shell of a ghost instead of me I would have struck down Dream right where he stood. We would have disemboweled him. We would have disemboweled him” “You would have killed Dream?” “Together” “Well Tubbo is the one who sent me off... You would have killed Dream?” “Tommy- Tommy! I wasn’t blind, I saw what he was doing to you Tommy... I saw. I saw what he was doing to Tubbo” “I don’t like thinking about it” “I saw what he did to me”
So talks about Tommy’s exile are always something... Tommy still shows clear hesitance in blaming Dream even after all this time and even more hesitance at the idea of someone killing Dream at the time (probably because he still subconciously bleieves that he was his only friend back then).
Then there is Wilbur who has admitted to know about Dream’s abuse of Tommy and his manipulation of Tubbo and himself (though to which extent for any of these is unclear) and he seems of the idea that: 1) if he was alive he would have been allowed to go with Tommy, which he wouldn’t have and 2) that if he was there they’d have killed Dream. Though he changes his narrative on the second point right after it’s intersting that he thinks he would have been allowed with Tommy because if he was as aware of the situation as he seems to think he is he’d know that Dream “exiled” Tommy specifically to have him alone and vulnerable where he could mold him as he pleased. It wasn’t a political stance like their previous exile, it was a glorified kidnapping.
“After seeing Ghostbur interact with Dream I realized that, no, Dream is not the enemy, Dream is not the enemy” “He-” “This world was not supposed to be inhabited by people of this caliber. Dream is the hero! Dream needs to be let out of here. Dream’s not in prison because he’s a horrible person, Dream’s in there because he dared to try and stop you all. He dared to try and stop you all from gaining all this power because the minute I was gone there was a vacuum, there was opening and everyone just slicked to get in there and Dream was the only one who stood up to them and told them not to. Dream is the one that held my seat for me”
Again, a few things to unpack here:
1) Wilbur somehow fails to see the contraddiction in his own reasoning. “I know Dream abused you, but he is not being imprison because he is a bad person, he was only doing what is necessary” was what his speach boiled down to which is just bullshit plain and simple. But why does Wilbur get to this conclusion? Well because he has faulty information at best to fill in the blanks from the time he was dead and he has a very simplistic worldview where everything must fit neatly into a small little narrative and where people are either “villains” or “heroes” and since Wilbur thinks of himself as a villain and thinks he corrupted anything he came in contact with it makes sense that he would see Dream, someone who opposed everything and everyone previously associated with Wilbur, as the “hero”.
2) We have Wilbur, once again, giving himself more importance then he did have. Wilbur didn’t leave a power vacuum, L’Manburg was rebuilt pretty quickly and all Wilbur left behind was a bit more trauma and, even then, people have done worse since. Wilbur was, in fact, pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Once his story was over people moved on one way or the other and Wilbur simply cannot accept that because he sees himself as a protagonist, but he simply wasn’t around for a long time.
(Also I really wanna punch him in the face for this one because f*ck him for calling Tommy’s abuser a “hero” to his face, that’s a HUGE d*ck move)
“If Dream died instead of me, I would be in there right now” (again, fundamental misunderstanding of why Dream’s in prison in the first place)
“I didn’t actually really care about L’Manburg, I just cared about, you know, sticking it to the man. Actually I cared about L’Manburg for the sole reason that I could use it to stick it to the man! You ever sticked it to the man Tommy?” “That’s not true” “L’Manburg was a tool, it was a great tool, it worked! You know? It divided so many people man”
Listen, we can debate all day wether Wilbur actually cared about L’Manburg beyond seeing as a tool to achieve his ends or not, but that’s not really important. The important thing to take away from this is that Tommy, Tubbo, Niki, Fundy, Eret and Quackity believed in L’Manburg. They believed in it enough to fight for it. Others as well. So whatever the answer to “did Wilbur care?” is, their experiences are not invalidated because of it. The other thing is that the whole conversation about L’Manburg fully establishes the theme of ideals vs attachment that may be explored more in the future.
“I’m sorry for a lot of things but, Tommy that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna try again” (and here it is. Wilbur shows Tommy the most awful side of him that hasn’t changed all the while pretending to be a completely new man in front of others so they won’t believe Tommy if he tells them. This one is full on manipulation)
“I did care about L’Manburg. I did, I did, but if L’Manburg- a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet, L’Manburg would have still been as loved by me if it was called Bim Bum and it was in the middle of the desert” (once again reiterating that it wasn’t about material attchment, but more so about the purpouse of L’Manburg)
“Stick it to the man Tommy! High five” “No! You just said that you loved 'The Man'” (Tommy pointing out the contraddioctions in Wilbur’s reasoning)
“It was like we were a family, you can’t just say that!” “We were a family Tommy. We were. And you know what I guess you just didn’t- I guess you just didn’t have the balls to follow along with me. When I pressed the button you were always against it-” “You blew up our fucking home!” “We’re leaving it behind Tommy, it’s in the past. We’re friends now, we’re friends”
So, two things here: Wilbur seems to resent Tommy partially for not enabling his destructive tendencies seeing Tommy opposing him destroying L’Manburg as him leaving Wilbur behind. And also Wilbur is, once again, dismissing Tommy’s rightful anger, this time in a way that is very reminiscent of Dream (reinforcing the idea of them being “friends” despite having done something that hurt Tommy a lot).
“You’re following me for quite a while for someone who doesn’t care” “*deep sigh* Where are we going next?” (while Tommy is aware that being with Wilbur is not good for him he also seems to not want to leave him either)
“You know I often give him a lot of shit and pretend I don’t like him, because he has a peculiar relationship with Tubbo, but he is a very good man and I stuck up for him because I see potential in him, alright?” “Yeah? What is he, a strong fighter?” “Yeah, well he is- he is a very strong fighter, he stuck by my side, he visited me in exile, he is a good man and he’s helped me”
It’s interesting to see how their opinions diverge. To Wilbur “strenght” is physical strenght and strong ideals. He respects Tommy to a degree because Tommy is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in for example. For Tommy “strenght” is compassion and loyalty. Tommy considers Ranboo strong because he has the strenght to remain kind in a world like theirs where kindness usually doesn’t take you far. And this is the main reason why Wilbur and Ranboo clash, why they are narrative foils: because Ranboo is extremely well loved and secured himself a relatively peaceful life by going against everything that Wilbur believes in. Ranboo is respected and loved where someone like Dream who, to Wilbur, embodies the ideal of strenght is widely hated and he doesn’t understand why because he’s missing so much information.
Third and final person Wilbur apologizes to is Ranboo who falls into the category of “Wilbur didn’t know him”, meaning the apology is, once again, just performative so that Wilbur can move along his perceived “redemtion arc”. During the whole chat with Ranboo Wilbur, once again, mostly pushes Tommy’s presence to the side in favour of the new person, though Ranboo does actually notice Tommy’s constant worry and tension and reassures him multiple times that everything’s fine.
“Everyone I seem to meet seems to have this deep intrinsic feeling of disgust towards me” (no one actually does, this is just Wilbur’s self deprecation talking. Like, Tommy is the only one who has expressed anger towards him so far and he’s still sticking to Wilbur and trying to talk to him)
“Tommy is very suspicious of me because of who I WAS” (this is, once again, manipulation. Trivializing Tommy’s fear and suspicions in front of others while reinforcing them when they’re alone is a way to isolate him from an eventual support system)
“It was big, it was big effects though right? I mean... let’s be honest here” (Wilbur once again overestimating his impact. He did have a lasting effect on people, but nowhere near as he seems to think)
“Tommy I don’t know who you’re tryng to protect here, me or Ranboo” “Ranboo” (yes yes, Allium Duo moment, but also Wilbur seems sort of jealous of the relationship Ranboo and Tommy have and how obvious it is where Tommy’s loyalty lies now)
“You get into people’s heads Wilbur, alright? You’re like a little caterpillar, you go in through their ear, then you hatch a butterfly, before you know it your brain is all colors and flying...” (Tommy lacking proper terminology to describe Wilbur’s manipulation, but still doing a wonderful job at it)
Wilbur spends quite a while interrogating Ranboo on his beliefs and getting progressively more confused about why people (and Tommy especially as he specifies later) love him so much as Ranboo explains his “pick people not sides” philosophy. He seems particularly annoyed by Ranboo soley defining Dream as “bad”, possibly because in the world view he crafted for himself everyone is so extremely divided and he can’t imagine the existence of someone who tries to actively defy that by trying to side with everyone who hasn’t directly harmed his loved ones or himself. At first Wilbur thinks Ranboo must have some ulterior motive for being kind to everyone and is even more shocked at finding out that that’s not the case.
“There’s been more wars while I’ve been dead then when I was alive Ranboo, that’s- that’s a-” “There’s actually been only one and ever since you died and Dream’s been put in prison the server’s actually been peaceful” “So you’re saying that you don’t like me? In the same way you don’t like Dream you’re against me then?” “I- no! No no no, I don’t not like you Wilbur, I don’t like the person that you were. I’m willing- I’m willing to like you now, if you’ve changed”
And here we have Ranboo standing against Wilbur quite directly. Wilbur seems convinced that, because Ranboo doesn’t dislike most people he stands for nothing which, admittedly, Ranboo is quite hypocritical and weak willed, but he is showing the sort of strenght Tommy admires him for here. Ranboo dislikes who Wilbur used to be because he hurt his family, but he is willing to give him a second chance, which is more then even Wilbur ever did for himself. Also, to be fair, once Dream was locked up the server did become more peaceful and there were less wars. Ranboo was right when pointing that one out and the fact that Wilbur doesn’t seem to know it points to his lack of knowledge that he doesn’t seem willing to fix.
It’s also interesting that Wilbur seems to conclude all this meetings in a hurry by asking Tommy to go on with the tour and basically pulling him along... even if it’s pretty clear by now that Tommy isn’t really needed there. Wilbur remembers how to navigate the server without Tommy thanks to Ghostbur’s memories and he ignores Tommy’s presence whenever someone else is near. The only reason why he is pulling him along is because he can and because he uses him to vent and say all the things he lies to others about... so much for his “no lying” oath...
“He’s a follower Tommy! You’re not a follower man! You stand up for yourself, you fight for what you believe in” (reiteration of Wilbur’s idea of strenght which alsoseems connected to worth for him. For him being a “follower” is inherently negative)
“Tommy he felt like the polar opposite of me” (in case we needed more reasons to consider them foils)
Wilbur and Tommy have a fight right after because Tommy’s upset at Wilbur being an ass to Ranboo and completely ignoring him and about his presence just in general. Wilbur is the one insisting for the fight to be physical in a scene that mirrors the Pogtopia pit scene quite a lot while Tommy would have been contented (and would have actually preferred) with Wilbur admitting to his faults. But so far Wilbur hasn’t apologized for his more grave faults even once and he has yet to apologize to Tommy for anything at all and I honestly doubt he intends to at the moment or that he even feel remorseful for anything... they fight and Tommy wins and takes Wilbur’s sword to avoid a repeat of the situation.
“Look at me. No matter what happens, no matter what goes down, today, tomorrow, next week, the week after, the week after next, the fact that I’m alive means that anything that happens along this line I’ve won. I’ve already won. I won when I pressed that button. You can spar me however many times you want for your own personal victories, but, in the grand scheme of things, I’ve already won. And I think, from your silence, you know that”
This brings us back to Wilbur seeing his life as a show and himself as both the protagonist of the story and the villain. The button scene was the ending of his story and he managed to complete it with what he considers his own victory. Of course it’s also a way to put down Tommy in a similar way to how the “you’re never gonna be president” speach worked. Tommy didn’t want to spar with Wilbur in the first place, but he did win. Tommy didn’t want to be president either because, despite Wilbur being convinced that he has his same idea of power, Tommy is quite content to live a simple life with none of the responsabilities that come from having power. In both cases though, Wilbur takes the chance to use the aspiration of the image of Tommy he’s painted in his mind against the real one, by saying thet it’ll be impossible for him to accomplish what he thinks he wants. Doesn’t work anymore though, Tommy immediately called him out on his bullshit even if he was ignored again. Also what’s with Wilbur and constantly asking Tommy to look at him? Is he afraid to disappear if Tommy’s not looking or something?
“You just stick with me man, stick with me. Stick with the winning side. Stick with the side that stands for something, stick with the side that believes in something” (it’s also interesting to note that Wilbur seems to constantly see his life as a conflict adn, right now, he appears to think that it’s him and Tommy vs the world, similarly to how Dream started thinking in prison)
“I thought he had infinite canon lives” (Wilbur seems to have held at least some of Ghostburs naivete it seems)
“Honestly I wasn’t expecting you to have your shit together like this man, I thought you just came on to kill me” (once again Wilbur thinking he’s the center of the world apparently)
“Thank you for that [killing him] by the way. No no seriously, thank you for that! Because if you hadn’t done that I’d ended up living- I would have been exiled with Tommyinnit and then I would have gotten angry at Dream because Dream can’t go around hurting Tommy like that. I would’ve been angry at Dream. I would have tried to fight Dream, which now I see would’ve been a silly move because Dream’s my hero! Dream’s amazing! So I would’ve ended up fighting Dream and then I would’ve been the one in prison and not Dream”
I was kinda surprised that he said all of this to Phil, but I guess he may remember Phil siding with Dream for Doomsday perhaps, so he thinks he can get understanding on all the Dream stuff. He also prefaced this by bringing up something that Phil still feels immensely guilty about meaning he was more prone to listen. Also, again he seems to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what exile was about or why Dream is in prison in the first place but, aside from that, his opinion on Dream just seems to genuinely fluctuate between despising him for hurting Tommy and considering him a hero because he brought him back to life and because he covers the role of the misunderstood underdog who’s trying to do what’s right in the version of the story that he created in his mind.
“Well yes, but I wouldn’t have stood for Dream’s shit while Tubbo, well Tubbo did stand for it” (see what I mean? Fluctuating opinions. Pretty sure not even he himself is entirely sure of what he feels or think in this regard)
“Oh, Will?” “Yeah?” “I forgot to mention by the way. I, at one point, griefed George’s house with Ranboo and that caused to a chian of events that lead- that- that was kind of why I got exiled more so...” “Okay and Ranboo managed to not get exiled with you?” “Oh no, it was just me” “That’s pretty uh-” “But I stood up for Ranboo. I made sure he didn’t because he was so new and he was, you know, he was-” “Ah, so you got thrown under the bus. Did he not stand up for you? Did he not offer to go with you?” “No he did stand up for me but to, like, to an extent because he didn’t wanna get exiled and that’s fair” “okay... I’m Sure I’ll Get On With Him!”
Wilbur’s obvious distaste for Ranboo shining through again. Also he was pocking in the right direction, but, sadly, Tommy is not the right person to ask this questions to because he fully believes that he deserved what happened to him still, so he won’t be able to explain that the reson why Ranboo wasn’t exiled was because Dream didn’t care about him and the exile was just about gettng him alone. I don’t think anyone aside from Dream has clocked that in quite yet as a matter of fact. Also this conversation has just proven further to Wilbur that Ranboo is the pushover he though he was after all.
After that Wilbur explains to Phil that the reason he lied was because he didn’t want to let him down. He also tries to convince Phil that he doesn’t lie anymore and that he didn’t lie much in the first place, only to address Tommy and go:
“Old Wilbur did a lot of lying Tommy, old Wilbur did a lot of lying”
“Wait did you say there was a counselor on this server that we could talk to?” (Tommy yet again being the only f*cker in the server that genuinely wants to go to therapy)
Also Phil trusts people way too easily. He just confronted Wilbur about lying in his letters for a long time only to turn around and immediately trust him that he is a changed man, even after Wilbur said straight to his face that Dream is his hero. Like... he is supposed to have lived a long ass time, how did he stay this naive?
Will also mentions that he has plans and intends to have both Phil and Tommy in on them as soon as they’re ready. He also proceeds to make it sound like the only reason why Tommy is upset with him and doesn’t trust him is because he was a bit mean to Ranboo which is him, once again, trivializing Tommy’s fears in front of others so that they are less likely to take him seriously in the future. He then asks for a bed and shower which Phil provides. One other thing to note is that Wilbur seems extremely reluctant any time that it comes to going underground, probably due to trauma from living in a ravine in Pogtopia.
“Do you trust me? Do you believe that I’m turning a new leaf Tommy?” (this is not the first time this stream that Wilbur seems to seek out Tommy’s approval and it’s interesting that he doesn’t seem to do it with anyone else)
Once again Wilbur interrupts the visit in a hurry as soon as Tommy tries to explain his side of the story to Phil telling Tommy repedly to go with him. This really seems to be a pattern since it happened every single time, and I’m guessing that the reason is that, once he has given his pieace, leaving Tommy to speak may be detrimental to the manipulation in the long run.
“Be nice Tommy, okay? Be nice” “Phil, you murdered him” (Lmao)
“Tommy you’re missing the sunrise! You’re missing the sunrise” (for the sun as a symbol enthusiasts)
The two of them then have a very weird argument about stone that it’s literally just textbook manipulation in action right there. At first Wilbur asks for stone then, after Tommy complains a bit, he concedes and switches to cobblestone just to then comment on the fact that stone looks better, but he’s graciously letting Tommy having a say in it. He then expresses that his request is for Tommy to get “all the stone” but making sure that he doesn’t believe that Tommy will be able to do that. Multiple times in fact. He then tells him to get it with Phil because Phil would be able to do so, unlike him. And all of this is just to split up from him in a way that’ll have Tommy still be too busy to explain to anyone about Wilbur.
“He’s a good kid, he’s a good kid. I’ll be back on the saddle soon... I mean it’s only a matter of times I’ve done it once I’ll do it again” (I do think that Wilbur does care for Tommy a bit, I’m fairly sure about that, but their relationship really sin’t healthy. Also we’re back with Wilbur immediately assuming the role of “protagonist” in his “story” once more)
“Why does everyone like that Ranboo guy? I don’t understand...” (once again, incapacity to understand someone who is so diametrically opposed to him)
“I’m done apologizing” (he didn’t even start. Not in a way that mattered and not to the people who needed it most)
“I don’t know how I was revived” (Wilbur canonically does not know about the revive book)
Wilbur’s stream ends with him checking out Quackity’s book and Wilbur making a whole speach confirming that his idea of power is tied to physical strenght and feeling self assured in the fact that he was “right all along”. Tommy’s stream however was not over yet.
“I don’t want to try and save the server, I don’t have that in me”
“We need to get the stone... and then we need to stop Will and he hopefully won’t destroy the server” (Tommy being dragged back in the role of the hero kicking and screaming)
“When we did L’Manburg I was a strong guy, a character that could go around and now it feels different. I feel thinner. I feel... don’t have a choice. I don’t have a choice” (once more he lacks the proper words to describe trauma, but he still does a great job of it. He also feels once again like this role was put on him and he has no choice but to oblige)
Tommy later talks about how he won't let anyone put him "through that shit" (manipulation) but that he’ll still get the stone because it would be nice to have Wiilbur be impressed with him. Which is just a great way to let us know that Wilbur's tactic has indeed worked.
And this is pretty much it!

vegas team 2.0 lets go !!
vegas team au 2.0 my beloved !!!
if you don’t know what the vegas team au 2.0 is, it’s an au that a couple of my twitter friends and i developed (notably, @stabbysideblog and @dreamsclock) as a post-canon version of sparrow’s vegas team au, which had c!dream, a post-revival c!wilbur, and c!quackity working together at las nevadas.
this au exists much in the same vein, but exists post-canon (and therefore, post torture from c!quackity) and adds c!sam to the crew - it’s essentially four really, really messed up people screwing things up in las nevadas and being completely AWFUL to each other. it’s a very messed up group dynamic, 50% angst 50% crack 0% fluff or healing (...unless ;) ) and it’s absolutely one of my favorite aus at the moment.
anyway, have this ficlet for the au i wrote a little bit ago that basically goes into how these four end up working together !!
tw: implied torture, unhealthy relationships (SO many unhealthy relationships), manipulation, threats, emotional distress, mental instability
When Sam first sees the two figures standing on top of the roof of Las Nevadas, the first thing that comes to his mind is oh no, I have a bad feeling about this.
The feeling is far from foreign; a "bad feeling" has been his life for the past week ever since Dream and Wilbur had disappeared from Pandora's Vault seemingly without a trace. He's tried to keep the knowledge under wraps, only telling Bad and Ant to send them on a manhunt to find the prisoner (a lost cause if he's ever seen one; the two have hunted Dream before, and all of them know that there is no way they're finding the man if he doesn't want to be found) while he and Quackity plan for the coming storm. And there will be a coming storm, he's sure - he's heard enough of Dream's desperate, deranged plans of revenge voiced in near incoherent screams through bubbling lava to think that he will come out of the cell with anything close to mercy in his heart.
Unfortunately, there's been little to nothing from the pair of fugitives running around the server, his communicator chat still buzzing with Tommy's usual shouting and Puffy's usual invitations to tea and Technoblade's usual cryptic "technoblade" messages sporadically throughout the day. It's frustratingly, maddeningly normal, and each day of waiting for the other shoe to drop only leaves him even closer to snapping completely. In a twisted, bitter sort of way, he's almost relieved at the sight of the people standing on the polished quartz roof of the casino; at least now he'll finally get some answers.
Next to him, Quackity narrows his eyes. "Nobody should know about this place," he says, lips twisting into a tight frown.
Sam shrugs, shoulders heavy and tense under netherite. "Do you think-"
"-that it's our dynamic fuckin' duo? Yeah," he breathes out, short and quick through his teeth, and his wings stretch and flutter behind him, "I think it might be."
The figures become clearer as they step closer, silhouettes dark and thrown into harsh relief against the backlighting of the sun behind them. One of them is definitely wearing armor - netherite, from the looks of it - and both are very clearly armed. Wonderful.
The taller turns towards them, gestures with a wide sweep of their arm. "Big Q!"
Sam jumps at the voice; Quackity smiles humorlessly. "Wilbur."
Wilbur turns towards the other figure - Dream, for sure then - and they seem to talk, though they are far too far away for Sam to make out anything they say. Dream seems to hand something to Wilbur, and seconds later twin dots of bluish-green arc smoothly towards the ground in front of Sam's feet. He steps back, watching from the corner of his eye as Quackity does the same, and sure enough Wilbur, and then Dream, land on the grass where their enderpearls hit the ground.
"It's been a long time, Big Q, Sam," Wilbur smiles, tight-lipped, confident, tipping his head at each of them as he says their names. He's not wearing any armor save for a crossbow - enchanted - slung loosely over his hip and a netherite sword hanging off of his belt. "How have things been?"
"Cut the crap, Wilbur." The smile stays on Quackity's face, but his eye is dark and cold and dangerous. He's changed - of course he has, you can't do what he's done in Pandora without changing, but the sight of his expression still sends a disturbed shiver down Sam's spine. "You want something."
Wilbur, to his credit, doesn't seem fazed at all. "We've been doing pretty well - I think we've made quite some progress, considering how little time it's been since we've escaped that prison - nice build, by the way, Sam." His voice is lilting, almost sincere, and he looks over at Sam with a laughing light in his eyes like they're sharing an inside joke. "It's really quite impressive - what do you think, Dream?"
Dream doesn't seem to respond; he's all decked out again, netherite covering him from head to toe, the enchanted metal plates completely dwarfing the man hidden within them. His hands clutch at a golden apple, knuckles white against the golden skin, and a plain shield is strapped over his left arm as well a hulking enchanted axe on his back. They've been busy, it seems, and Sam's teeth grind against each other; he's not sure, if it comes down to it, that this is a fight that he and Quackity can win.
"Wilbur," Quackity repeats, impatience creeping into his tone, "What do you want?"
Wilbur smiles wider; it makes Sam uneasy, like Wilbur had been waiting for this, waiting for their desperation to send them at the devil's table with paper in one hand and a pen in the other.
"You're a businessman, aren't you, Big Q? You know how business deals work - so let's talk business. I think we can come up with something agreeable, what do you think?"
Quackity huffs a short laugh- "And what's stopping me and Sam from putting a sword through your gut?"
Wilbur smiles, sharp-edged. "Well, Big Q. Resurrection magic- it's quite interesting, really. Dream was explaining it to me, you know. And here's the thing; how many lives do you think I have right now?"
What- oh. "You have all of your lives back."
"Oh, no, Sam, I'm not saying that, exactly," Wilbur waves his hand flippantly, "I'm just saying you don't know, you know? And if I were to- say, have more than one life, and you were to kill me, well," he shrugs, a thoughtful look on his face. "We were smart enough to set our beds far away from the prison, of course. It would be an awful shame if people were to find out about what the perfect, responsible Warden was allowing in his inescapable prison, wouldn't it?"
No, no, no-
"So you're blackmailing us," Quackity's eyebrows are furrowed, jaw clenched tightly. Wilbur tips his head back and laughs.
"Oh, this isn't a threat, Big Q! Just a few- let's just call them hypotheticals." He begins to pace back and forth, gait smooth and unburdened, "I'm just saying that you two are powerful right now, you know? And it's great! I love this- what was it, Las Nevadas, you're calling it? It's great. It's absolutely magnificent. I'm just saying that you might want to be careful about what people end up finding out; you know people can be about power, on this server, and it would be such a shame to see this place burned to the ground."
Quackity's wings tense, and Sam can already see the younger's mouth opening and his fingers beginning to glow white with him reaching into his inventory, and oh prime if things escalate here then they're so, so screwed-
"Business!" He shouts louder than he wants, Quackity's head snapping towards him, lips still slightly parted from the words that he never got to say, and Sam ignores him to focus his attention on Wilbur, still staring at them with a smile playing on his lips. "You said you would be willing to talk business, right, Wilbur?"
"Yes, of course! Let's talk business. What do you think, Quackity?" Wilbur pauses, looks Quackity in the eye, and the younger glares but doesn't say anything. "Oh, don't worry too much, Big Q. I honestly think that it'll be good for all of us - a mutually beneficial arrangement, if you will."
"Wilbur, just," Sam sighs, fights against the incoming headache. "Can you please just get to the point?"
"Of course, Sam," Wilbur all but chirps, "So- we have something you want, and you have something we want. I say we pool our resources- our knowledge, Dream's combat prowess, your protection and items - and make something better."
"Pool our resources- wait wait wait, you mean you want to fuckin'-"
"I don't know how much Dream has told you, but I've been dead for a pretty long time; there really isn't all that much to do in the Void, you know. I've gotten pretty bloody good at cards, if I do say so myself." Wilbur grabs Dream, ignoring the way he flinches as he slings an arm around his shoulders, "What do you say? Have room in Las Nevadas for two more, Big Q?"
Sam blinks. Prime, give him strength. "What?"
Quackity hisses quietly, "You want to help with Las Nevadas? Both of you?" Sam watches as he turns his glare from Wilbur to Dream, and oh, so that's what this is about. He points his thumb jerkily in the direction of the masked man, watching, as Dream ducks his head down, unable to back away too far with Wilbur's arm still braced behind his neck. "And why should I work with him?"
"Two in one deal, Quackity, you have both of us or nothing at all," Wilbur drawls, "Besides, I know you've wanted the power of the resurrection book - and done quite a lot to get it! I'm really very impressed. Of course, we couldn't simply give it to you, but with us on your side, there's hardly even a difference." Quackity opens his mouth, looking like he's about to protest- "And, really, it would be nice to have Dream on your side in case the Blade comes for your other eye, no?"
His mouth shuts with an audible click, one-eyed glare meeting Wilbur's all-too easy expression, before finally nodding jerkily. "Fine. As long as he doesn't cause too much trouble."
"Oh, don't worry about that," Wilbur claps Dream on the back, and he curls into himself more, arms raising up to his head. "You've done more than enough to keep him obedient."
"We'll have to write out the terms later," Quackity presses on. "Don't want either of you trying anything. I've put so much fuckin' time into this place, I'm not letting you fuck it up, you hear?"
"Of course, Big Q," Wilbur's smile is jagged, all teeth, as he holds his arm out between them. "Wouldn't have it any other way."
Quackity breathes in, out, looks over at Sam. There's a question written in the tight edge of his shoulders, in the way his wings are braced and held to his sides - are we sure about this?
Sam tips his head in a shallow nod. Do we really have a choice?
Quackity takes Wilbur's hand, shakes it. "Then welcome to the team."
Wilbur laughs, and it sounds like flames and explosions and the ground shaking beneath your feet, burns with the cold heat of smoke and ash - and Sam knows, with a bitter, searing certainty, that this is going to collapse around them in a blaze of glory, that they've all but signed their death warrants, have nothing left but to wait for the countdown timer to hit zero and blow this place up to kingdom come. Wilbur meets his eyes - dark, dead, grey like cinders and gunpowder - and he knows that the other man is thinking the same thing.
"I think this is the start to something beautiful," Wilbur says, and Sam grits his teeth as he steps into the building.
Something beautiful, indeed.

insp by this AMAZING piece of art by @jeeb-creeb and that emotional as FUCK vod today, jesus.
tw: dissociation, suicidal thoughts, guilt tripping, mentions of vomit (but only one line)
Tommy doesn't remember picking up the lead. He can't- there are pieces missing, important ones. He's yelling at Sam, then there's the portal, then the lead is in his hand and then-
Tubbo and Ranboo are huddled together, foreheads pinched, and when Tommy stumbles out, he's thinking, Friend, stay with me, keep close. The lead is cutting into his palm, he's holding it so tight.
They can tell as soon as they look up. It's written all over his face, Tommy knows that they know. When they ask, it's to be sure, he's knows that- he'd do the same if the positions were switched- but he can't help the hot well of anger that rises in his throat.
Isn't it obvious? He wants to spit, isn't it fucking clear what happened? Can't you just see it all over me?
But this is Tubbo. And this is Ranboo. And they're what Tommy has. They're all Tommy has. Other than Friend, a voice in Tommy's mind says. It sounds suspiciously like Ghostbur. You still have Friend. Friend always knows how to make it better. So he explains, trying to make himself sound present, trying not to float away.
He knows where they have to go now. He doesn't know what they have to do, what he even can do, what he even should do because when he actually decided to do something it went- Sam's hard voice, shouting, Tommy's hand tightening around a useless axe, Ghostbur, shouting for Tommy, pleading for him-
When Tommy decided to do something, it hurt people. The wrong person. His plan was only- it was only supposed to hurt Dream, maybe himself, whatever, but now-
Now Tommy just had Friend and no clue what to do next.
He's careful when they head over to La'Manburg. He leads Friend only where it's safe. He doesn't take Friend over mounds he can't handle. Doesn't make him cross paths with monsters that he can't take on.
His stupid fucking brain goes, shouldn't you have done that with Ghostbur? Why do you only learn a lesson after someone has been irreversibly hurt?
Tommy doesn't bothering telling it to shut up. It's right.
He's hopeful for half a second that Wilbur wasn't resurrected, that Tommy was just dreaming, that Dream felt terrified enough of how close to death he was to scare Tommy away with empty threats. But then there's that familiar laugh and those curls, newly colored with white streaks. There's Wilbur, standing there, in the flesh, in Ghostbur's spot.
Fuck, Tommy thinks, fuck. How could he- this is all his fault. If he had just fought his way into the prison instead of using Ghostbur as a decoy, then maybe, maybe Sam would've just killed him. Maybe then he wouldn't have to worry about Dream or Wars or disks or death, because he would be-
Friend bleats and nudges at the back of Tommy's leg. Tommy lets out the breath he's been holding.
He can only try his best. That's all anyone can do.
So he tries: he throws Wilbur the blue, asks him what he remembers, tries to find the Ghostbur hopefully hidden inside. He shows Wilbur Friend, asks whether Wilbur knows who he is, asks what he's thinking, where he's going, all the while thinking, please, please, just- let's be together, let's let it be like the very beginning, or better yet, a new start, brand new, we can change together now, we can help each other-
And then Wilbur says, "There was a train station."
And then Wilbur says, "It was hell for me."
And then Wilbur says, "Dream is my hero."
Tommy's breath stutters in his chest and he physically can't look at Wilbur anymore. He pulls at the lead in his hand and Friend presses closer.
Dream, a hero? Dream, who's taken Tommy and twisted him up and broken him down and tried to remake him into his? Dream who thinks Tommy is a fun bunch of legos, Dream who hurts the people and the things that Tommy loves for his own amusement?
That Dream? A Hero?
Wilbur's smile curls on the ends as he recounts Ghostbur and the way he cried, the way that it burned him. Tommy wants to vomit. Wilbur turns to Ranboo and Tubbo and Tommy loses time again, he can't feel his fingers nor his toes, all he can feel is the way his chest aches- the way that it echoes all down his limbs, filling his head with noise.
Wilbur declares that he has plans, many plans, big things coming, and leaves. Ranboo turns to Tommy, expression stricken, hard with anger- "What the hell did you do?"
Tommy doesnt shrink back, but his first thought is, where's Friend, is he behind me? Is he safe?
"I- I was going to fucking kill Dream, i was, but then-" Tommy's tongue ties, "I fucked up, I just- I didn't think he would-"
Ranboo turns away abruptly, leaving, probably tired of hearing the same shit from Tommy since the prison. Tubbo looks caught out for a moment, gaze flickering between Tommy and Ranboo's retreating back. Tommy looks down so he doesn't have to see Tubbo choose Ranboo.
He looks to Friend, who's looking up at Tommy trustingly, naively, thinking that because Tommy has the lead then he'll be safe. Thinking that there's no way Tommy would ever do him any wrong.
Friend looks up at Tommy with the same glowing trust Ghostbur did right before Tommy got him fucking killed.
Fuck. Fuck.
Friend always knows how to make it better, Ghostbur told him. Whenever I feel sad I go to him.
Okay, Tommy thinks. Okay Ghostbur.
He collapses to his knees, curls his arms around Friend and buries his face in the blue wool. He shakes and sobs and all the while Friend stays there, quiet except for the occasional bleat. If tommy squeezes his eyes shut hard enough, he can imagine that Friend is Ghostbur, and that Tommy was more careful with his lead.

connoreatspants‘s associations with dead people: a semi-coherent ramble
connor’s been associating with dead people since he arrived, but it’s very notable how much he does so when he’s plot relevant
currently i’m thinking about when connor gave tommy the gifts he received from wilbur, like something’s just odd about that
he claimed that he had the gifts “for a while” and received it from “your friend who is a ghost”
this implies he bumped into wilbur significantly earlier before the confrontation and got the weapons (canonically—how he got them in-game was implied to be different)
but what i find weird is that he never calls wilbur ghostbur, nor wilbur, or even alivebur; i’m harping on the possibility that he may have talked to alivebur given that he appeared to tommy and tubbo personally after defeating dream—connor couldn’t tell because he hasn’t properly met either prior to their supposed off-stream interaction
because i find it odd that ghostbur would offer his weapons just like that, most especially after doomsday—the thought of tommy and tubbo gearing up to fight dream and possibly dying to dream would make him forget; it seems more in-character for alivebur to do the preparations
all this kinda hits different after connor’s party, which i’m interpreting in a semi-canon manner
as in, the party accidentally summoned glatt, as it has things schlatt would come back for like parties, drugs, and people he is familiar with like connor and slimecicle + foolish being present may have potentially added to that; it’s probs more likely that the rise of capitalism on the server took a major role, as glatt himself stated he would “sell inventions” should he properly come back to life
and then connor cemented that summoning with the attempted “revival” at schlatt’s grave, incantations and all
there’s the idea that all this implies connor and schlatt‘s friendship pre-dream smp may have tied in to the book schlatt gave dream, which you know, is about resurrection??? (and i am going off the headcanon that schlatt, connor, and also charlie, now that he’s here, had a friendship pre-dream smp, akin to phil and techno having such a friendship)
like, schlatt guided connor to it, and connor had relative preparation, which means connor could have done this anytime only if he wanted to; we know the first time he considered this was when he first got on the server, intending to be less lonely
final bit, and it might be a stretch, but remember the instances where he kept bumping into tommy and techno? clarencio attacked him too, and for a second thought the llama was a ghost!
finally, the hostage situation! to tubbo, connor was associated with a person he thought to be dead only to actually be alive this entire time
i’m not saying connor may play a huge part in eventual proper resurrection arcs, but uhhhh

Thinking about who I wanna hurt today with angst...
/dsmp /roleplay (all names are characters)
Just one thought I have is, what would happen if Quackity just continued with the torture and didn’t trap Techno with Dream inside.
What if at some point Dream just completely breaks? He doesn’t move anymore. No sound comes from him. No reaction. Nothing. He’s just still, silent. Unresponsive as if there was no life in him. His eyes don’t move except for the occasional blink that keeps the eyes from drying. There’s no indication of life except for the slow and shaky rise and fall of his chest that comes with breathing and the blinking.
How would Quackity react to this Dream that might as well be dead? Does he keep on inflicting physical pain? Or would he stop, realizing it’s become completely pointless by now? Is he disturbed by what his actions caused in a person that was once full of life? He might try to get a reaction by new tactics. A potato dangling in front of Dream’s eyes. Later on a carrot, a beet, a cookie, a piece of cake. It doesn’t matter what he puts in the other’s line of sight. There’s no reaction. Nothing except the breathing and blinking. No light suddenly appearing at the sight of food that’s been kept from him. No fear at the sight of netherite weapons or shears. Nothing. No emotion sparks behind the eyes of the now unmasked man.
How would Sam react once he learns of this new... change? Will he think it’s another attention-seeking action? What will it take him to be convinced that Dream really is broken now? Who accepts it first? It looks similar to a few times when there was no visitor. Similar to many of the aftermaths of Quackity’s sessions. Times when Dream was also just lying on the floor. Except there were more sounds. More pained grunts as he tried to slowly get himself into a corner. Trying to reach the small space between chest and wall. The sounds that were missing now. The life was drained out, leaving something that might as well be a corpse. Both considered making the breathing body exactly that.
Would anyone else ever find out? Maybe Techno would somehow. After all, he might have planned to visit him anyway. If he was turned around and forbidden entry, would he force his way in? Once met with the still body of his rival, what will he do? There seems to be two options. The first, taking Dream out of this huge tool box and get him back if that was even possible. With the lack of any response, it seemed a bit unlikely. Which would leave the second option. Death by his rival seemed like a death with more honor than death by your enemy and torturer. Techno didn’t need his ally to tell him where these wounds came from or the dead-like state. It was obvious.
Will Bad ever visit again? Will Bad ever step foot into the prison as a guard as well as Ant? Once the crimson fully left their brain, is it possible that Bad remembers something he wanted to do and finally gets to it? Would Sam be able to stop Bad and Ant from figuring out anything? Maybe with some words about how dangerous Dream is but would that even work if both are allowed armour in the prison as guards? They might be the ones to tell the rest. After all, Sam didn’t so far and both doubted he would. Looking at the broken shell of his friend, would Bad know that there was more than the simple conditions Pandora’s Vault at fault for it? He might try to get Sam to tell him what happened. How much would he be informed of? What will he do with the knowledge and job at the prison?
How would Sapnap react once news reach him? Will he think that it’s even possible to break Dream to the point of a death-like state? The last time he saw him, Dream seemed so convinced that he will break out at some point. This Dream... this Dream doesn’t look like he want that. He went there himself. He needed to if he really wanted to believe the words of the others. But he still couldn’t truly wrap his head around. The body lying there had to be someone or something else but not Dream. But it was Dream, he just couldn’t truly accept it. How could one accept that they lost their friend once again but this time some other way? This time not to a spiraling into madness but to a state of utter lifelessness despite the small bit of life still noticeable in the breathing and blinking.
Would George learn of it? When Sapnap tells him, would he think it’s a dream first? After all, there’s no way Dream is actually gone. The denial is quite similar to other times. He still doesn’t go inside the prison. He prefers the Schrödinger state instead. As long as he doesn’t see Dream’s unmoving body, there’s still the possibility of it not being true. Dreams are not a place he can hide in anymore. XD seems to... he doesn’t know what word would fit. Calling for the god didn’t bring him to the mortal. When he slept, there were no dreams to be had. It was a bit unnerving. He tried to ignore it. Tried to sleep it away. There wasn’t anything entertaining. There wasn’t anything he wanted to see.
What would Wilbur do once he learns of the empty shell his hero is now? The poker face he had on when told of the news circulating was unreadable. Meanwhile his brain tried to register the words spoken to him. Dream. The man who resurrected him, who saved him from the gray of limbo, was shattered. The one that looked fine on that train station when coming to get him. But thinking back, that might have been an illusion based on memory. It was the spectral plane. No reason for actual appearances to transfer. More the last view one had of the person and the last Wilbur saw of Dream was the man standing above the country that was blown up. A Dream that was strong, undefeatable, unbeatable. The unmoving body that lays in the walls of void-dark stone was a mockery. Thinking about it more rational, it made sense. Everyone has a breaking point. Be it the one for craving death, the one for lashing out or the one for becoming truly numb. It was foolish to think Dream was different. But Dream was the villain. Only the middle should be possible for him, shouldn’t it?
Who would believe this to be truly Dream now? Who is gonna deny it and say it's just another manipulation tactic? Would anyone try to get Dream back? At least in a way that he reacts? A few might. Some might want to leave him like this. Some might want to take his last life.
How would everyone react?

What are your expectations of Wil and Quackity? Wil and Fundy?
I mean, expectations are bit much. Possibilities, that I could see happening maybe.
I think, it all heavily depends on which direction Wilbur will take his character.
Now, his language and general disposition post-resurrection seem to evoke more Pogtopia Wilbur rather than President Soot, but that doesn’t have to be definitive.
Generally, though, the whole Season has built-up Wilbur’s resurrection as this calamity that would befall the server. The Return of the Mad King, if you will. Now, whether or not you enjoy that direction for him is a different matter, but so far it definitely seems to veer into the villain-role (what with Tommy wanting to avoid this revival at all costs, Dream seeing Wilbur as his method of escape, etc.).
So, his relationship with Quackity: I see either a partnership coming as both move into an antagonistic role – or a rivalry. Both have interesting points to explore. Personally, I veer more towards rivalry, seeing as that would nicely echo the presidential election of Season and would provide Quackity with an opponent of equal strengths and weaknesses.
These two Machiavellian masterminds going against each other in a game of chess – especially if we throw the Eggpire and Dream as a third and potentially fourth party into the mix (I hope, there’s no prolonged Wilbur-Dream-team up. That would be a bit too much of a Season 1 retread in a way that I think would be hard to interestingly reiterate when compared to the Quackity-Wilbur-rivalry)
Doubly interesting as Glatt is already a (potential) partner to Quackity – and Schlatt and Wilbur have a very complicated relationship, to say the least.
With Fundy, I hope that we’re gonna resolve his issues surrounding Wilbur as his father figure. It has been his strongest and most consistent personal conflict since Season 1 and I would like to see it get some significant screentime and development.
Fundy’s lorestream definitely reaffirmed this dynamic for the audience (the van-scene), so it’s something that hasn’t been forgotten.
Should Wilbur develop into a more sympathetic route, I could see an interesting story of working through their issues – a continuation of what started with Ghostbur in early Season 2 (and was then CRIMINALLY dropped!)
If Wilbur indeed continues with his villainous role, I could see Fundy either completely cutting ties with him (especially if Wilbur doesn’t plan to redeem his character) or – and this I find intriguing – taking on Tommy’s role from Season 1.
Fundy could stay with Wilbur, maybe trying to win his approval or love, and watch him continue down this dark road, unable to stop him and perhaps even unwillingly getting dragged down with him. Now, that’s something that was kinda explored through the Butcher Army-storyline somewhat – but if you know what I thought of the Butcher Army, you know how much I disliked the execution there.
They hinted at an encore of that with Fundy’s future diary alluding to Quackity roping him into Las Nevadas – but I think exploring his and Wilburs strained and damaged relationship through that lense could yield a much juicier storyline.
All in all, I’m certain that Wilbur, Quackity and Fundy will entertain me regardless of what they decide to do!

To Tommyinnit!
Hello, I’m Ghostbur! I was missing you a lot today, so I wrote this letter! You can’t read it right now, and I do hope you won’t get to read it for a long, long time, but they say writing your feelings down is a good way to think. I haven’t written many letters, but I think I should start by saying I’m sorry. It was very rude of me to leave without saying goodbye. It wasn’t on purpose! But I am still sorry. I know you said you didn’t want Alivebur to come back, but I know you care about him. I hope the resurrection worked and you two are getting along again. I hope it turned out okay for you.
Things turned out better than expected for me! I thought if Alivebur got resurrected, I’d disappear into the void and be alone forever, or that I might just stop existing all together. I was really, really scared Tommy. And for a little bit, I could feel myself falling into the void. But someone caught me.
Did you know Philza Minecraft’s wife is Death? I’m not sure why, but I could have sworn his wife was a refrigerator! I like her much better this way, though. Mumza is a very nice lady and she took me to her home! Its very nice here. She has a big library full of stories, and she says I’m good at music, and there are birds everywhere. She treats me like family, but she doesn’t call me Wil. She says I’m my own person. Its taken getting used to, but I think I like it.
I still miss you, and Philza, and Technoblade and Friend and everyone. I still dream about L’Manberg. Even though this is my home now, I still get homesick for the old times. Mumza says I’ll see you all again someday, but since she’s Death I think maybe she’s talking about when you all die. Don’t rush for me! I can wait, and when you do finally come, we can share so many stories. I hope you find that happy ever after you deserve.
PS. Take care of Friend for me! :)
Love, Ghostbur!
Dear Ghostbur,
So this is pretty stupid because I know you’ll never get this letter (considering you’re dead and shit) but Puffy told me that sometimes writing out my feelings is better than speaking them. I’ve never really been good at speaking (or writing) things so I thought I’d give it a go because I’m the best.
I’m sorry I got you ki
I feel gui
I want to thank you, man. For everything. I don’t want to get sappy because Tubbo might find it or something and I think I would rather blow up a country (sorry not sorry) than him read this but you were kind of there for me when nobody else was. In exile, even if you fucked off halfway through but that actually wasn’t your fault and I don’t really hold it against you. When I got out of prison. When I was alone. When I thought I had nobody. You can tell I’ve been to therapy because I’m being open and honest about my feelings which isn’t exactly something I’d done before coz Wilbur and Philza are shit at feelings and never open up about anything (which actually makes me better than them because I’m at therapy and they’re not. Sucks to be them. They’re dumb.)
But yeah. Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for sticking by me even when I was horrible to you a lot of the time sometimes. You were a lot nicer to me than Wilbur was, and I think I took a lot of my feelings towards him out on you at times, which was a bit shit of me. He’s still dead, by the way. I thought maybe when you died, he’d come back, and I was really scared not really sure what to think if he did. But he didn’t, so now I’m just kind of brotherless. Which is fine, you know, brothers fuck off every so often, but it was lonely for a while.
I’m not alone anymore, though. There’s this kid - her name is Henry (yes like the cow, fuck off) - and she’s kind of mine? Now I’M like the big brother which is fucking weird, but she’s cool. You would have liked her, I think. Her favourite colour is blue, and she has a toy sheep that she calls Buddy (think she got that from you, though I have no idea how). Puffy told me to tell you that I’m happy because she was trying to ask me what you’d say if I told you that, but I told her I didn’t think you’d say anything. I think you’d’ve hugged me, and I think you would’ve cried, even though crying hurts you, but it would’ve been happy tears.
It’s nice not being alone. I hope you’re not alone, wherever you are. You won’t be alone for too long - I’ll be coming up before you know it, I mean, fucking hell, I’m twenty now. I think. (I still don’t know when my birthday is actually but Philza Minecraft says I’m twenty and he’s never wrong), but I hope maybe someone is with you. Maybe Wilbur? I dunno how well you’d both get on, but I think even someone is better than no one.
Fuck me, man, this is so rambly. This is the first time I’ve spoken about you properly to anyone. Well. I guess I’m technically just speaking to myself, actually. But maybe one day when I die when I’m old like Philza you’ll see this and then you’ll think I’ve gone all soft (WHICH I’VE NOT BY THE WAY). But I just wanted to let you know that I think I’ve got my happy ending, even after fucking everything over the past few years. I think I’m finally happy. I have a family, a proper family, and I have my friends, and the server is at peace.
If you see Dream by the way, tell him I
Hope you’re having a good time in Heaven, big man. I mean. If you got into Heaven. Coz if you didn’t and you’re in Hell then I’ve got no fucking chance. And I don’t fancy the big flaming ground pit
Does Heaven even exist?
Getting all existential again holy shit.
Anyways. I’m going for dinner at Tubbo’s (WHO HAS A KID TOO CALLED MICHAEL) and Henry’s coming in from school (we finally have a fucking education system in this place) so I’m going to leave it here. Cheers again for everything, seriously. I’m sorry things ended the way they did, and I hope you get peace, because if anyone deserves it, it’s you.
Thank you for being my brother when I needed one the most
Miss you a lot
TOMMY. (AKA Big Man, AKA Big T, AKA Biggest T.)

Some Thoughts on Wilbur and Tommy
Wilbur and Tommy. This resurrection arc is bringing their relationship into greater importance once more. It’s such a fascinating one.
Their relationship is complicated. Tommy stood by Wilbur’s side to the very end. He believed in him, not supporting his actions, but trying to help him and convince him to be better. And until the very end, he believed he’d succeeded.
Wilbur chose Tommy to be President but Tommy chose Wilbur instead, believing he’d truly changed and was going to be the person Tommy believed in - the one who’d first inspired him. Tommy was very idealistic, always believing the best in others.
Until the end, when Wilbur betrayed him for the last time, blowing it all up so shortly after naming his best friend President. And Tommy hadn’t been there to stop him this time. He’d failed in his goal of saving Wilbur.
And then Tommy met Wilbur’s ghost. This ghost was mischievous but very nice. He helped him pull pranks, kept killing him while invisible, helped him make a present for Tubbo and agreed to take care of him and join him in exile if he need it. Tommy and Ghostbur’s relationship is interesting as it’s so obvious Tommy is still deeply conflicted about Wilbur - he spoke most highly of the person Wilbur used to be, but saw the one who blew up L’manburg as the crazy one, like a different person entirely. Tommy has also asked Ghostbur about Wilbur a number of times, such as asking why he made Tubbo President. Tommy talks about Wilbur very little but he is on his mind a lot. It’s pretty evident that his greatest fear was turning into the Wilbur who blew up L’Manburg.
Tommy was closest to Wilbur in Pogtopia, saw him at his worst moments and tried to persuade him to have more hope. And it wasn’t enough. At one point, Tommy joined Wilbur in the button room and convinced him not to press it. But he went there again and this time, Tommy wasn’t there to stop it and Wilbur died, taking L’Manburg with it. So in his exile, Tommy finds help with Technoblade and gets tempted to blow L’Manburg up - it’s not what it once was, it has become corrupted and his friends don’t care about him anymore. Tommy nearly is convinced but upon coming face to face with his best friend, upon yelling that he cares less about Tubbo than his discs and seeing Tubbo go silent and hurt at his words, Tommy realises he’s becoming just what he feared. He’s Wilbur, lashing out at those he should be closest to and he’s listening to the violent Technoblade who wants destruction - Tommy realises he’s in the wrong. He immediately changes sides and afterwards states that his trauma and his pain shouldn’t be an excuse to hurt others, doesn’t justify his actions. I think Tommy’s begun to understand Wilbur more after his time in exile, but remembers how much it hurt to be at Wilbur’s side, watching his fall.
Ghostbur though, Ghostbur is nice - Tommy asks him about his blue - why the stuff he gives out is already so blue if its supposed to only turn blue after sucking the sadness out. Tommy likes Ghostbur a lot and its clear he values his company greatly.
So the idea of bringing Wilbur back is an uncomfortable one for Tommy - likely a part of him wants Wilbur back - he never got real closure, but Wilbur is bad memories. Tommy wants to help Ghostbur so when he comes to him asking for ressurrection, Tommy awkwardly agrees but he’s anything but comfortable with the idea.
Tommy turns up at the resurrection, initially having no idea what’s going on - they’re just recreating a scene for some reason. When they inform him they’re killing Ghostbur to bring Wilbur back, the way Tommy breathes -the way he gently tells the ghost that he likes him more, offering him a carrot. He witnesses, but turns away as Philza stabs the Ghost. After it happens, Tommy is very worried, he’s angry, missing Ghostbur, worried about what will come back. After Ghostbur is back and he seems alright, Tommy offers him his blue back and then leaves, saying he can’t-
Unlike everyone else involved, Tommy is against the resurrection. Everyone else seems to believe this will somehow fix things. Eret believes Wilbur is the key to his redemption and that Wilbur will be able to help the people in a way no one else can, Philza is guilty for killing Wilbur in the first place and wants to absolve himself of this crime, Ranboo’s never even met Wilbur  and is just going along with follow the ghost’s wishes.
Yet Tommy, normally the idealist who couldn’t ever give up on Wilbur, doesn’t think this is a good idea. He doesn’t want to lose Ghostbur, he values him in his own right, and he’s not sure about Wilbur being back in spite of knowing him best. He thinks they’re all making a mistake (while still being so obviously conflicted himself). It seems like the others are trying to run away from their problems, and thinks necromancy might be an easy solution. Philza’s guilty about Wilbur - don’t worry, we can bring him back to life! Eret’s guilt about his original betrayal, his failure to be a father to Fundy, and all that was lost in L’Manburg’s recent destruction - don’t worry, Wilbur is the answer!
But you see, what if things don’t go right? What if you bring back something worse? Schlatt’s ghost has also been woken up and we have no idea what sort of Wilbur may return. It’s strange how Tommy is the cynical one for once, the one who’s still not fully dealt with his feelings on Wilbur’s death and yet has held himself responsible for his own faults rather than letting himself go down a more self-destructive path - as Wilbur once did.
