RED AND THE WOLF
I’m a little late to the game, BUT here is my contribution the the Citrus Dome’s BNHA Fairytale!AU collab! Check out the other works here.
A/N: this was completed and uploaded on mobile, so please let me know of any typos! It’s also not beta read and I’m a little self conscious of the ending. But regardless, I hope you guys enjoy!
Half Giant!Kirishima x Wolf!Bakugo x fem!reader
2.3k words
TW: threesome, kidnapping, tied up, size kink, a tad bit of breeding kink.
ALL FICS I WROTE ARE 18+. MINORS DNI
Tumblr media
You scoffed at the warnings from the villagers and your family. You put as much stock in them as you did all the other old wives’ tales you’d been fed growing up (read, not fuckin much). You’d never seen any giants or knew anyone who did. Neither did you know anyone who could say they encountered a fierce man who shifts into the form of a golden wolf… So, you concluded, there was absolutely no reason to pay attention to the ramblings of the old assholes grumbling out tall tales into their fourth or fifth mug of ale…. or to the old washerwomen by the stream angrily beating their undergarments on the flat stones, yelling out as you entered the dark canopy of the forest.
********
“Ei!”
“Hmmmmgghhnn, what? Why do you wake me this early?” The massive man rolled to the other side of their shared bed, trying to ignore the loud, booming voice of his partner, and failing.
“I found one. It’s gotta be her…” he shivered, the long, golden tail he kept even in his human form bristled out, “Just wait until you smell her, Ei.”
The half-giant sprung up from the soft pillows and warm furs of the bed. He knew that not many things got his wolf this worked up so he had no choice but to believe him. Grabbing a small, leather band, he tied back his long, vibrant red mane of hair and threw on his tall, worn leather boots.
“Lead me to her, Katsuki.”
********
You didn’t even hear a rustle of leaves to warn you of the massive man approaching you from behind. Two arms the size of tree trunks latched around your waist and your back was pulled against a fleshy, warm wall of pure muscle. When a golden wolf that looked more like a lion jumped out into the path ahead of you, licking his muzzle with a long, red tongue, your brain refused to process exactly what was happening.
A scream was caught in your throat as a cloth was pressed to your mouth. The hand that held it could easily cover your entire face and you shuddered at the thought of who could possibly have hands that large.
“Shh, my sweet,” you could feel the deep rumble of his voice as his chest pressed even harder into your back, “Sleep now…”
********
The sounds of a crackling fire and the feeling of warm, sweet-smelling furs surrounding you lull you back into a peaceful sleep… until you try to turn over and realize a silk band has your wrists tied to one of the massive posts of the bed you’re sleeping on. Panic quickly takes over when you remember the events that lead up to you being here.
Before you can do more than thrash a bit and whimper, a large presence looms over you blocking out the glow of the fireplace. You think you must be dreaming because no man could ever actually be this large.
He had to be a full seven feet tall and four feet wide across his muscled shoulders. Long, crimson hair like a lion’s mane surrounded his chiseled jawline and fell down his back. You noticed the sweet, spicy smell that enveloped you when buried in the furs was coming from him…
You know you should be more frightened than you were, but you couldn’t help but notice how beautiful he was. His deep red eyes were kind and his pointed canines that peeked out from his plush lips as he smiled sent a thrill down your spine instead of scaring you (like they should have).
“O-oh… umm,” your gaze faltered under his intense scrutiny, “Where am I?” you hesitated a moment, “Sir?”
Kirishima wanted to pounce on you right then… so small and soft and pretty… You were going to look so good round with his child… but he knew to be careful with you for now. This would be so, so much sweeter if he didn’t have to force you.
“You’re home now, little one,” he said confidently as if you should have already known that.
“B-but, I was… I was supposed to be selling-”
You were cut off as Kirishima knelt beside you and bent forward to stroke your cheek with one of his massive hands, “My precious one,” he hummed and you couldn’t help but feel safe, “Your life has much more purpose now. You’re ours.”
Wait…
Before you could finish the question, another body lept onto the bed, causing the mattress to shift under you violently. A warm face was buried into your neck, then, and the scratchy stubble along with wild sniffing from the person’s nose sent full-body chills all over you.
“Kats!” the man in front of you barked out, “Down! Now!”
The person assaulting your neck (Kats?) huffed in annoyance and pulled away from you to sit back on folded legs, glaring into the other man’s eyes.
“I’ve been waiting all fuckin day, Shitty Hair!” you noticed his canines were even longer and sharper than the other man’s, “How long r’we just gonna watch her sleep? I can smell her! She’s fertile NOW!”
Now you were thoroughly confused and panic crossed your features.
Kirishima sighed and drug a hand down his face as he groaned in frustration. So much for easing you into things…
“Hey,” the familiar hand that was stroking your face brushed your hair back from your forehead, “Let’s start with names. I’m Eijiro, but you can call me Ei or Red.”
“Or Shitty Hair,” the blonde snickered, pleased with himself for getting a jab in on his companion.
“No,” Eijiro growled, momentarily meeting the other man’s gaze with clear irritation, “Don’t listen to the overgrown puppy.”
Said “puppy” stiffened beside you and was about to lunge over you to tackle Kirishima when you reached out and put a hand on his bare chest. He gave you a confused look and cocked his head to the side. You had no clue what compelled you to touch him, but you know that your hand moved before your brain could stop it.
“Please,” you whispered, “D-don’t fight…”
Both of them visibly relaxed. A light thump-thump-thump was heard on the bed and you noticed not only did he have a tail, but you caused it to wag happily. This caused you to giggle lightly and raise your hand to scratch his unruly, blonde spikes. A small voice in the back of your head was telling you that you should NOT be this relaxed and you should NOT be okay with what was happening, but the sighs and whimpers you were pulling from his gorgeous throat dulled any sense of fear you’d had.
Kirishima cleared his throat and you stopped your scratching to give him your attention (much to Katsuki’s annoyance). “This,” he said, pushing the blonde back from your body slightly and moving closer to your side, “is Katsuki. Or Kats.”
“But you can just call me Daddy if ya want,” he whispered in your ear and you felt a long (a slightly too long) tongue trail up from your collarbone to your ear. You couldn’t stop the little whimper that left your lips.
Eijiro outright growled at that and stood up, grabbing Katsuki by the hair and lifting him to eye level. Both of them were staring daggers at each other, so wound up and jealous they couldn’t see straight.
“No, please!” you thrashed against your restraints, not wanting to be underneath the two giants if they clashed, “I-I don’t want you to fight!” large tears reached the surface of your glassy eyes and both men instantly started fawning over you. Kirishima unfastened your wrists and pulled you into his large lap. He cradled you into his chest as Katsuki nuzzled his cheek into your plush thigh. It wasn’t until then that you realized that you were in your thin underclothes, the sheer material exposing your thighs and barely covering your pebbling nipples. Being so exposed pressed between the two men made your heart flutter and caused a heat to bloom in your stomach that spread all over your body.
You shifted slightly, feeling awkward and unsure of how to deal with the new sensations coursing through your body… and they seemed to pick up on it. Katsuki brushed his mouth along the skin of your thigh, not quite kissing and not quite licking, just gentle, feather-light drags of his lips. Eijiro’s large, calloused fingers traced circles into the skin of your stomach, slowly pulling your thin undergarment up, giving Katsuki more skin to indulge in.
Your head rolled back onto Ejiro’s chest and he looked at you adoringly. “Have you ever lain with a man before, sweet lamb?” his hand spanned your entire midsection as he slid the thin fabric up to sit below your breasts. Katsuki growled and nipped at the exposed skin of your tender belly, soothing it over quickly with his warm tongue. When his eager mouth trailed below your belly button, Eijiro’s other hand grabbed a fist full of blonde hair for the second time. Katsuki looked murderous but didn’t say a word. He knew if he didn’t play nice, he’d end up having to watch his mate fuck you into their mattress as he stroked his cock.
“No… no, sir. I haven’t…”
He seemed to hum in approval at your response and you noticed a very large, very HARD bulge forming underneath you. You stiffened and for a moment, wondered if it would even be possible for that THING to fit inside your virgin cunt. A deep chuckle rumbled in his chest.
“Don’t worry. We will prepare you so that it doesn’t hurt too badly.” as if on cue, Katsuki grabbed your thighs and slid you down the bed so his face was at your core. With very little warning, his tongue was eagerly lapping at your clothed slit. It felt nothing like the tentative swirls of your fingertips you’d indulge in occasionally in the dead of night tucked safely under your covers. This was foreign, electrifying, and slightly terrifying. Eijiro caressed your hardened nipples, circling your areolas gently, still not making direct contact with your skin. You were being shoved over the edge of an intense orgasm before you’d even been undressed. A tiny whimper was all the warning you gave before spilling over Katsuki’s tongue, the thin material of your panties doing nothing to hold back the copious amounts of come.
“Good, sweet girl,” Kirishima brushed the hair off your sweaty forehead. Katsuki whimpered into your throbbing core causing you to jerk involuntarily. He pulled your soaked underwear to the side, ripping it in the process. Your scolding was swallowed up by Kirishima’s hot tongue dancing against your parted lips.
“Don’t worry,” his gentle grip kept your chin turned toward his fiery gaze, “These won’t be needed for now.”
“Ei,” Katsuki whined and you could feel the thump thump thump of his tail thrashing against the bed, “C-can I please?” You noticed he had been dragging his leaking cock along the mattress and soaked through the linen trousers he wore.
“You’ve been greedy, hmm?” KIrishima wound his fingers into messy blonde tresses, “I haven’t even had a taste of our little plaything yet.”
Your stomach did flips as you watched Kirishima devour Katsuki’s lips. His tongue explored every inch of his lover’s mouth, savoring the taste of your release that coated the bottom half of Katsuki’s face.
Watching the two men get lost in each other’s touches reignited the fire in your core, your thighs clenching at the new feeling blossoming inside your body. They must have noticed your reaction, because with a side glance and a chuckle, Ejiro pulled you towards them without breaking the kiss he shared with Katsuki.
Without speaking, you seemed to know what was needed, your body moving on its own. You unfastened Eijiro’s trousers and gasped at just how massive he really was. You gulped before leaning down to gently kiss the angry, leaking head of his cock. You were rewarded with a sweet moan that Katsuki greedily swallowed up. You licked up and down, kissing every inch, getting drunk off the sweet sounds you pulled from the giant man.
Feeling left out, Katsuki quickly got your attention by grabbing your hand and stuffing it down his unfastened pants. You moaned around Eijiro’s member causing him to growl. His patience growing thin, he hauled you up to straddle his lap. His thick fingers dug into the meat of your ass and you felt a warm chest press against your back.
“Now,” the half-giant whispered into your ear, red locks falling around your neck, “Be our good pet and let us fill you up.” You whimpered, head rolling back onto Katsuki’s shoulder as a finger found your tender clit, pulling the hood back gently.
You were passed back and forth for what felt like hours. Katsuki mounting you from behind while you sucked Eijiro’s cock… Eijiro pressing you into the mattress, knees folded up by your ears… Katsuki between the two of you, Eijiro plowing into him and in turn making him fuck you twice as hard…
The three of you were utterly spent as you lay in the hot spring not far from your new home. You lay back on Kirishima’s large chest as Katsuki nuzzled into your soft cleavage. You took turns gently washing and praising each other. You’d never once felt this loved and cherished before.
As your hair was being braided by your crimson haired giant and your face peppered in kisses from your adoring lycanthrope lover… you thanked yourself for choosing to take the path less traveled.

Zenith: Chapter 6
We get some more hints about Dex’s and Andi’s past together.
Their last meeting hadn’t exactly gone over well, what with the whole, Andi soaring away with Dex’s ship, leaving him bleeding and dying on a fire moon thing.
Who edited this?
Update: Someone finally did, it seems, because this has been updated to:
Their last moments together hadn’t exactly gone well, what with the whole “Andi soaring away with Dex’ s ship, leaving him bleeding and dying on a barren moon” thing.
So uh. Better, I guess.
As with any shitty book with a STRONK FEMAIL CHARAKTOR, we must -- MUST -- wank on about how fucking amazing and hot she is, because she can’t just be brutal and off-putting and human, she has to be HOT while she’s doing physically exhausting shit that can both get bloody and sweaty, so let’s take a look at this garbage, shall we?
Godstars, she was magnificent, a creature that deserved to release her wrath on the world. It would be worth every drop of blood about to be shed to bring her to Cyprian’s feet.
So she’s so cool that ... she deserves to murder people, just because how cool she is? And capturing her is totes worth letting people get murdered?
I would maybe understand it if she was a massive threat to all intergalactic civilization and that throwing armies at her is the smaller price to pay, but she’s just one schmuck who does petty smuggling and escort jobs. Or does Dex just want his ex back and he’s ready to let people die for it? Because these are just space cops she’s killing and he’s ready to sacrifice, they’re just dudes doing their jobs.
What the fuck am I reading.
Update: This has been changed to:
Godstars, she was magnificent; a creature who had released her wrath on the world. It would be worth every drop of blood about to be shed to be the one who finally brought her to the general’s feet.
Oh, so now she already has released her wrath on the world, regardless of whether or not she deserved to?
So Dex is happy to let other people die for him just so he can brag about capturing his ex?
I’m glad we cleared that up. What a guy.
Tumblr media
He hadn’t seen her in years, but he’d heard the rumors. He hadn’t truly known if she truly could wield those weapons with the a glory and grace that drew blood and split bones.
Why was he even questioning this? He’s been bragging about how he’s trained her and taught her everything she knows, and now he’s wondering if she could wield her own weapons?
Is Dex an idiot?
*looks at art* Forget I asked.
Gone was the girl young woman he’d once known, that shivering thing he’d found bruised and broken in the wilderness of Adhira in the markets of Uulveca.
In her place stood the warrior he’d trained and hardened and turned into something devilishly delicious.
He Dex reached for his gun as the Bloody Baroness attacked.
Devilishly. Delicious.
Shinsay. “Bloody Baroness” isn’t intimidating, alright? It’s not scary. Please stop this nonsense.
Andi and Dex have themselves a fight. Well, Andi kills a buncha dudes (+10 points to Gryffindor, Sasha managed to do what her hero SJM couldn’t, and that’s having her killer character actually kill someone on-screen) and Dex just kinda stands around in the background thinking about how hot she is.
We get a pointless POV switch.
The world slowed, but Andi moved like a flash of light.
Uh-huh.
“Take out her crew!” Dex shouted. “I want her alive.”
“Take them out!” Dex shouted. “Save Androma for me.”
His words sent a spike of rage straight to through Andi’s heart.
Spike of rage.
A ball of white light shot past Andi’s shoulder. An enemy was blasted backward, already a corpse as he slammed into the door frame.
“Oh, that was a good shot,” Gilly said, giggling and brandishing her double-trigger gun.
Weren’t you just weeping and losing your shit four seconds ago?
I’m loving this mood dissonance.
“I want the floor stained with their blood!” Andi yelled to her crew above the chaos.
This book is sending a blade of edge into my heart, I’ll tell ya that.
Update: If any of you were wondering where this comes from, this sequence has been updated to include Breck and her BULLETPROOF SKIN. The girls hide behind her and there’s emphasis on how USELESS the bullets are, because apparently these Patrolmen not only have Stormtrooper aim, they also haven’t heard of the concept of surrounding their target or moving a little bit to the side to get an angle on it. Or maybe Breck also has the ability to expand her physical form and encase her crewmates like a living hamster ball.
Hey Shinsay. This doesn’t in any way justify your characters using swords and fists and whips in a fight. If anything, it just draws more attention to how fiking stupid it is.
If you’re wondering how the fuck Andi survives this fight without being blown to bits while using katanas against dudes with guns, here’s where I admit and brag about the fact that I totally predicted that she’d deflect or slice through bullets, which yes, she actually does that.
Andi lashed out as a Patrolman shot at her, her sword barely cutting through the bullet before it could hammer itself into her throat.
You know, you’d think that Sasha, who supposedly reads a lot, would be aware of dumb shit like this and know not to do it, but alas.
This might work in anime or video games, but try to avoid this kind of garbage nonsense when you’re writing, because it’s so dumb that it takes the reader out of the experience. Unless you’re writing a comedy, just ... if you have someone slice through bullets, please reconsider.
Usually I’m not one to tell people not to do something, especially when it comes to writing, but sometimes you just gotta take a step back and look at the sins of humanity.
Also ... and I don’t know shit about physics, but if Andi has enough strength to cut through a fired bullet and her sword withstands this process without breaking, and the bullet clearly isn’t deflected but cut through, meaning its momentum is still carrying it forward and the impact of the sword didn’t slow it down, Andi just made two fucking bullets, or one bullet with its butt cut off.
She didn’t even deflect the thing.
She should be dead.
Oh my god.
Update: She now deflects the bullets with the cuffs on her wrists that “protect” her burned skin. So that’s why they were written in! This smells very much of Wonder Woman but it’s better than SLICING BULLETS IN HALF.
Seriously, Shinsay, did you read my snark? You’ve edited out all the best bits that I’ve complained about while leaving the bland and boring garbage intact. Why didn’t you hire ME as your editor? I could’ve made this GOOD. Or at least passable. But I’d charge you more than you could afford, because I’d have to rewrite the whole book for you.
“What’ s wrong, Dex? You don’t want to come out and play with me?” Andi said, her voice a dangerous purr.
Dex chuckled, his mahogany hair falling across one brown eye as he stepped forth to meet her gaze. “You were always one for theatrics, Androma. My little bitter ballerina.”
Dex’s hair color has been changed from “midnight” to “mahogany”. What, did SJM call you and told you to tone down the Rhys if you wanted her to pretend to like your book in public?
Also, bitter ballerina? Really? Who the fuck talks like this?
“These three can live,” she said, nodding her head at the final Patrolmen. “It’s you I want a fight with, Dextro.”
Yes, his name is actually Dextro. At least the book admits it’s fucking silly.
With a crackle of her swords, she lunged forward and cut off three heads in one scissoring slice.
#edgy
Still better than Sardines tho. Andi actually DOES SHIT.
Zenith is officially better than Throne of Glass.
After a bunch of nonsense fighting that I can’t even be assed to keep track of, Andi walks into Dex’s trap. His trap is basically even more dudes with guns, except this time Andi can’t fight them, for some reason, despite doing it just now, no problem.
Plot!
Update: Breck isn’t there anymore, so I guess it makes slightly more sense this time.
Dex notices the cuffs on Andi’s wrists, just so he can give the reader some info about them, I spose:
They were unbreakable, just like her swords. But the cuffs weren’t just an accessory. They held together the burned flesh on her wrists from an accident long ago. She didn’t have the privilege of seeing a doctor at the time, so her skin had become damaged beyond repair.
Without Dex’ s gift, she wouldn’t have the full function of her wrists and forearms—likely wouldn’t have the strength to lift those swords she was so fond of.
It gave him a sick kind of pleasure to know she still had the cuffs, a reminder of his kindness to her when she was at her weakest. A part of him she could never shed from herself.
So you’re telling me that ... Not only are her wounds still open under those cuffs, but that installing those cuffs was somehow faster and less expensive than finding a doctor who could patch them up for you?
Or that they “healed,” and then, instead of paying for surgery, Dex paid for some GLASS CUFFS to slap on the wounds instead?
And that Andi, during all this time and after presumably getting some money, hasn’t had her fucked-up wrists fixed, and instead keeps these cuffs on her still-fucked wrists even as they remind her of Dex Dogtective?
The wording implies that she physically cannot remove those cuffs without reopening the wounds.
Why did she have ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS METAL PLATES ON HER CHEEKS INSTALLED, WHEN SHE HAS AN ACTUAL WOUND THAT SEEMS A BIT MORE URGENT? Wouldn’t fixing a burn be cheaper in this hyper-tech world than grafting fucking metal into your flesh?
WHY ISN’T SHE IN IMMENSE PAIN AT ALL TIMES WITH THOSE GLASS CUFFS ON HER BURN WOUNDS. HOW FUCKING BADLY WERE HER WRISTS DAMAGED IF SHE CAN STILL BREAK PEOPLE’S NECKS AND WIELD HER SWORDS NO PROBLEM?!
HOW EXACTLY ARE THOSE GLASS CUFFS ATTACHED THAT THEY SOMEHOW HOLD HER SKIN TOGETHER BUT ALSO ALLOW HER WRISTS FULL MOBILITY?!
AHFSJFHGDKFJHGDSKFJHGSDKJFHGDSKJHF
“If they move, my guards will shoot.” Dex waved a hand, and half the men angled their light rifles upwards, where toward Andi’s motionless crew stood motionless.
The blue-skinned pilot from Adhira, the giantess beside her. And that psychopathic red-headed child, glaring down at Dex with the cold calculation of a seasoned killer.
Dex just waves a hand. Not his own hand, just a random hand he found on the floor.
I just remembered that their crew is literally just four people and I’m so tired.
Dex Dogtective takes Andi to some room on the Marauder to talk to somebody.
Cold calculation flashed in [Andi’s] eyes.
Oh, just like the cold calculation in Gilly’s eyes barely half a page ago?
Who edited this?
Update: "Cold calculation” has been changed to “disgust.”
Also, this is in reaction to Dex telling Andi to sit. When she refuses, he’s super impressed.
Instead, she stood with her back up against the wall, her gray eyes roving left and right.
Dex had taught her well.
Did you teach her not to sit on command, like the opposite of a dog trick?
I would not expect anything less from Dex Dogtective.
For the first time today, despite everything Dex had thrown at her, she actually looked stricken. Shocked. Pained.
“Hello, Androma,” the man on the screen said. “I’ve been searching for you a very, very long time.”
The drama!

The Maze Runner: High School AU - Gally: Together - Part 7
If you missed Part One//Part Two//Part Three// Part Four// Part Five//Part Six
Tags: @preciousnewt
You’re already searching for Teresa and the gang as you walk over to the football field stands; a mass of people have already claimed their seats. You walk across the front, the smell of hotdogs and other junk food stink out the place already.
You finally spot them and make your way up towards them, comfortable seating in the middle. They all greet you, and you instantly get introduced to Newt’s new girlfriend. She smiles and greets you kindly, so far, that’s enough for your approval.
You take a seat next to Thomas and fight off a hitch in your breathing when you see how nice he looks. You mentally slap yourself, don’t even think about it. But you can’t help it, he smells nice too and he already bought you some food and drink.
You both talk for a bit, mostly about school but also about football. You only attended one game before with Minho and Newt, it wasn’t the greatest thing ever. You remember seeing Gally out on the field though, you remember noticing how well he played with his team. This time you’re sure you’ll find it more exciting now that you actually know Gally.
Everyone starts to cheer as your school’s football team runs onto the field; chants echo throughout the stands.
Teresa nudges you and nods over to the boys as they prepare for the game, “That one, number 14, he’s the one who’s been harassing Tom.” You stare out to unfortunately see Gally wearing that number. “Technically most of the team harass all the lacrosse members, but the most heated is between Gally and Tom.”
You don’t reply but instead watch the field. You focus on Gally; what would make him act like that towards Thomas? It just doesn’t add up in your head. Sure, Gally might seem to have that stereotypical jock persona, but just because it seems that way doesn’t mean it should be that way.
A few minutes into the game, you notice Thomas gets up from his seat and leaves –probably going off to refill his drink or to the toilets, so you take this opportunity to continue the conversation from before.
You turn to Teresa, “Do you know why Gally and Thomas are fighting?”
She swallows a mouthful of her drink before replying, after checking if Thomas is still around to hear, “The football team in general don’t like the lacrosse team because of how they think they’ve taken over the sport side of the school, something stupid like that.” She pauses to slurp from her drink again, “But between Gally and Tom? Something to do with Gally’s older brother, but I don’t know what.”
“He has an older brother?” Your eyes widen and you mentally scold yourself for seeming way too interested, you keep forgetting that you’re supposed to act as if you don’t know Gally at all. It’s frustrating, but you definitely know now that you have to keep it a secret if Thomas has been fighting with him…
Thankfully Teresa doesn’t seem to take too much notice of your question anyway, “Yeah, he did. His name was Justin.”
Did? Was? “Where… where is he now?”
Teresa looks at you, “You don’t know?”
You shake your head.
“Last year, around November I think, Justin got shot on the street. He died instantly, it was terrible really.”
Your mouth drops, “How come I didn’t know? The school… The school would have said something right?”
Teresa shakes her head, “They didn’t want to bring much attention to it. A lot of the staff thought it was the school’s responsibility, even though he’d graduated a year before. I guess they thought it might degrade their reputation which is a terrible excuse. But what’s even worse is that there was no news story on it or anything. No investigation.”
“That’s… that’s horrible.” Suddenly it feels as though everything has been flipped upside down. You’re not sure how to feel or how to react. “Why was there no investigation?” You hear the words tumble out of your mouth but the rising panic makes them sound distant, far away.
“He was just someone from the “hood”. White trash.” Teresa pauses to roll her eyes, “That’s their reasoning anyway, I think it’s a shitty thing to do. Not care enough about someone dying on the streets because their family didn’t have the best reputation.”
“I…” You suddenly stand up from your seat just as the game begins. The man at Gally’s car window flashes through your mind. “I’ve gotta go to the bathroom, I’ll be back in a sec.” You hurry past Teresa and the rest of them, and then make your way to the toilets. There’s no one around because the game just started, which you’re quite thankful for.
You turn on the tap in one of the sinks and splash your face, trying to rid of the horrible feeling that’s inside you. How could you have not known? “You’re so stupid…” You whisper to yourself. All this time, Gally’s been having to deal with an unjust death of his own damn brother and you’ve been worrying about friends! About tutoring him!
You grip the sides of the sink and stare into the mirror at yourself. What are you supposed to do now? Keep tutoring Gally? The last time you tried to help someone in a lot of trouble… the police got involved and you were told to never have contact with that person again.
You make your way back to the seats, and when you sit, the answer is clearer than ever before. This isn’t going to be like last time.
After the game, you and the gang wait around for Newt to talk to some of the football team members. Apparently he’s a big fanboy, and they don’t seem to mind him even if he’s best friends with one of their enemies.
Teresa eyes off one of the other football players and you mentally take note to ask her about it later. Gally wanders over to you when he notices your friends rather busy with the rest of his team. “I didn’t know you were going to be here tonight.” You notice a grin on his face and come to adore it, and that it’s there because of you.
You turn your full attention to him, “Well, here I am.” You smile, “I didn’t willfully come to see you play though, sorry. I was practically dragged over here by my friends.”
He shakes his head and laughs, but the image of him crying over his dead brother invades your mind. It’s such a shock to you that you have to take a moment to take in a deep breath.
“Quite the heartbreaker you are.” He turns just in time to see Thomas settling in right beside you, his arm touching your arm. Gally goes rigid, his jaw hardens and you notice clenched fists by his side.
A beeping noise resounds from Thomas’ phone, he looks at the text and then replies by tapping his thumbs over the mobile screen. “I’ve got to go,” he tells you, and out of nowhere pulls you into a close hug. The whiff of his hair and cologne makes you a little light-hearted, but you manage to shake whatever feeling that comes from that away. “I’ll see you later, yeah?”
“Yeah,” you smile, and then wave him goodbye as he walks away. Throughout that whole time, he doesn’t even blink Gally’s way.
Gally just stares at you instead, and you feel the harshness within it. What could you say to make him not mad with you? Would he even be mad with you? You open your mouth to say something but he cuts you off instantly, “You’re friends with him?” That tone of voice answers your question.
You nod your head.
“You know then?”
You frown, and finally pull together all the courage you have left to look him in the eyes. He looks furious. The intensity of his green eyes higher than ever before. “What do you mean?”
“You know that we practically hate each other, right?”
You sigh, “I… I didn’t know until a couple of days ago.”
His expression doesn’t lighten, “He’s scum, I can’t stand him.”
You blink at the sudden change in Gally’s tone, “Whoa, hang on a second Gally.” Now it’s your turn to harden your expression, “Don’t you think that’s a little bit harsh?”
“No, I don’t think it’s a little bit harsh because that’s exactly what he is! Scum!”
A few of your friends look your way, slightly confused by Gally’s outburst… and by you conversing with him.
You look him in the eye as a warning, “Calm down,” you look to your friends and smile warmly, trying to get them to think of this as nothing. “They’re going to notice we’re talking like we know each other.”
He looks taken aback by your remark, but you’re pretty sure he was the one to make it clear that he doesn’t want anyone to know of your tutoring him. “We do know each other.”
You roll your eyes, “Yeah but I thought we agreed to not let people know that?”
He frowns, “No, no, we agreed to not let people know that you’re tutoring me. Big difference.”
You look at him and see the hurt in his eyes, and you realise your mistake. “Gally–
He narrows his eyes at you, “You don’t even…” He rubs the side of his face with his hand out of frustration and exhaustion. “Whatever.” He turns to leave but hesitates, “It’s whatever. I don’t even care if you’re friends with Thomas anyway, it’s not like we’re friends.”
You watch him go as your heart sinks deeper than you ever thought it could go.
That night you awake at 4 am with Gally’s faceless brother lying dead on some cold, dark street in your mind. You notice the pool of sweat around your body and the drops on your forehead, you scold yourself for falling asleep with your socks and sweatpants on. You find a change of pyjamas, shorts and a shirt that says: I loaf you, with a picture of a loaf of bread on it. You hope it lightens your mood, especially after today.
When you crawl back into bed you can’t wipe the image away. Justin. You think back to Gally’s room and his house, Gally and Justin’s Dad. The room that was empty, the sense of abandonment. That must have been Justin’s room.
You turn over, your face smothered by your pillow. Does Gally think you know about Justin already and never brought it up? Or does he think you don’t know? Should you know? Do you want to know? You almost let out a scream of frustration from all the questions that fill your worried brain.
But the one question that sticks out from all the rest, the one that gives you the most anxiety from them all: will Gally ever speak to you again?
