Spring is irony for me. Cherry blossoms and open sunny fields are what I wish Spring brought me. But when this year ends like all others have, when seasons change without me, left only is sadness of ending friendships, of ending eras. Spring is reminiscing past memories until I feel them corrode my skin as they slip from my hands.

Spring begins, as I say farewell to the bonds I've made. Time moves just like I will from your memory; Spring will bring goodbyes just as I get used to the hellos. The world spins on its axis and I'm stuck holding onto Winter. I prepare to say: here is a piece of my heart on this parchment, I would tear it into pieces if I were you. I know I will tread into the new season with the muscle memory of putting my coat upto your chin, huddling together for warmth, taking film-colored pictures, long tirades of shared interests, embraces exchanged in mornings.

Forever I shall dread flower buds and snow melting and monsoon winds. I will dread their questions of the next adventure, the next season, the next hello. I am frost blue from the inside. (I wake up and all over my vision is mist — cheap food shared, paper rings adorned, coffees chugged, books discussed, authorities cursed.)

But Spring will stay, and Spring will pass, and I, too, will melt. I'll forget all about the last snowstorm in the burn of Summer.
