anime screencap redraw but theres a twist
the twist is winter soldier gengar ok bye
jk i have to explain more about the au that i came up with as i was drawing bc like ya know
anyway so steve was a really weak trainer growing up but he always had his loyal gastly who tried his best to protect him right and he eventually met a really nice professor (dr erskine) who helped him level up his gastly to evolve him into a haunter and also helped him catch more pokemon (aka the howling commandos maybe?) to build a full team before team rocket killed him
then a bunch of stuff happens idk cut to the train scene where steve is battling against team rocket and he brings out his last pokemon (haunter) and team rocket blasts a hole in the side of the train to try to escape but haunter gets sucked out bc physics and stuff and then steve goes to grab him, haunter somehow evolves into gengar to try to save himself but its not enough and gengar falls
gengar gets hurt losing his arm and then is found by more team rocket members and because they dont have any potions + they are evil they experiment on him and give him a metal arm and level him up a lot
meanwhile steve goes on a quest with the rest of his team to take down team rocket and try to avenge his beloved partner pokemon and somehow i guess the plane scene happens and one of his pokemon uses an ice type move to save steve and all the other pokemon? idk
and then cut to the "current" day when hes been found but hes not captain unova hes just some 20-something trainer and 5 pretty strong pokemon from the 1940s
somehow he comes across a mysterious gengar who has been passed from different team rocket leaders and then he realizes hey thats my old partner but gengar doesnt recognize him so they have to battle but the team rocket leaders and gengar keep escaping until the helicarrier scene where steve and his team are losing and steve goes "im with you til the end of the line" just before gengar knocks steve and his current/last pokemon off the edge and steve manages to get his pokemon into a pokeball before landing in the water but theres no serum boosting his swimming so hes sinking until a ghostly powered metal hand grabs him and drags him to shore because he remembers now who his real trainer is and they hug and its cute and they go on to take down team rocket together the end
tl;dr the winter soldier is literally a ghost XD

have you seen any weird orthworm color variances? i imagine seeing them all the time, there's gotta be some memorable ones
!!! anon, ya caught me at a good time, actually--i was about to go and make a post with someone i was happy to see out and about again, but! this'll be a really good opportunity to talk about this, so here we go!
so! so so so. the orthworm ya typically see are a bright, blazin' red, but some orthworm are born blue instead! yer "shiny" orthworm, essentially. there's not a whole lotta difference between 'em and a regular orthworm despite the drastic color shift, but the few shiny friends i've seen have been mostly localized to the asado desert, and they tend to be more on the ravenous side. i ain't sure if that means they got somethin' similar to lulu's iron deficiency goin' on here, but they tend to be on the hungrier side, from my experience with 'em. shorter limbs, too.
but!!! very occasionally and mostly at night, ya can see somethin' similar to these orthworm out and about:
[picture: a bright, almost minty green orthworm with a very light green underbelly, pink eyes, and instead of the blue limbs it has pink ones. unlike the picture, it almost looks somewhat oxidized; the skin is quite splotchy. and while averting it's gaze from the camera, the orthworm seems more shy than anything]
now, these fellas right here--if i had to make an educated guess, i think this is what albinism looks like in an orthworm! these guys have a lotta sensitivities to the rain and sunlight in particular, so ya don't see 'em very much :( and fer good reason. most'a the ones i've seen don't tend to do well, and the other orthworm tend to be pretty unkind to 'em due to the constant need to eat. so they still exist, but they usually have to burrow much deeper underground and eat a LOT more.
the picture i got here is of one i called niki! i saw her quite a few times when i first started workin', but she was real sweet when i did! 😊 and she definitely fancied lulu a bit, heehee. but that was years ago. i hope she's doin' okay.
but! funnily enough, i saw this old bastard's still kickin' even after the storm, and ya wouldn't believe my relief at it!
[picture: a deep, plum colored orthworm, with a dark metallic green underside. it's eyes are a deeper shade of pink, while it's limbs are a dark purple that's almost black. unlike the picture, this orthworm looks like a surly bastard; very scarred up, and he's missing at least two of his limbs and half of a third. while he sits still for this shot, he looks very annoyed and seems to have been given a figy berry for his cooperation. his skin also look somewhat oily, or at least seems to have a shine that's almost reminiscent of a rainbowy oil spil]
this old boy's been around fer as long as i can remember, and he's actually recognized and protected by the rangers around here--he's officially got the name bismuth, but we just call him the old shiny bastard. heehee! he's one tough customer; most pokemon and even trainers around here learn real quick that ya don't fuck with 'im, because fines are the least of yer worries with this guy. he's apparently got a bit of a reputation as like...he'll help the rangers sometimes if they got a mutual enemy (usually somethin' that disturbs his huntin', because BOY does he hate gettin' bothered without incentive), but otherwise? ya leave this old bastard to his business. old man's survived his share of battles and ya can occasionally see him chewin' on tinkatuff hammers for funsies. this guy does NOT fuck around.
i thought the storm could've been a problem for the big guy, but i went out recently to train lulu and get outta town for a bit, and i saw him! scrappin' with some young orthworm about somethin' or other. the fact he's still kickin' after all these years and with the injuries he's got definitely makes me real happy to see. i don't really know a whole hell of a lot about his habits given that i usually give 'im a wide berth; this picture was actually taken by someone else with permission, last i checked. but i know fer a fact he's nocturnal as hell, and a damn good hunter when he feels the need to be.

Pokemon xenoverse Lech Aspera Tizdayen Astra (arsism AU) dlc pass 5 rewrite (because the old version is too different & sucky):
After the whole chaos in mt. Zodiac, Sorrel went to the apollo tournament as an opportunity to get stronger, he really loved to battle and he also wanted to be the strongest to ensure safety to his loved ones, specially Chrissy (amongst pokemon), he felt like Chrissy needs him the most, he battled through every participant in the apollo tournament, they were all no match for Sorrel and his pokemon, Chrissy, Luxflon, Chirp (Vesperfurm), Suigetsu (Suicune), Bingus (X Mewtwo) and Charry (Charizard with mega X key stone), but then, the final trainer he had to battle, Trey, but, isn’t Trey dead? He battled him anyway and won, after this he saw himself in an event horizon, but a bit different from what he was in the battle of him and Alice against Vakuum, then he saw Vakuum with his own body but fury energy’d, Vakuum said “Sorrel, you pesky lil fucker, it’s about time we meet again, i will destroy you” he took a step closer “you might have beaten me-“ he steps closer again like that scene where Darkai in Cresselia disguise tried to kill the hero & partner (in pmd eos) & said “but im still way above you Sorrel-“ he stepped closer again “its time to say goodbye-“ he took another step towards him “to your friends-“ he stepped towards him “to your pokemon-“ he took another step “to your world-“ at last, he was right in front of his face “to YOUR OWN BODY SORREL, IT IS TIME FOR ME TO EARASE YOU FROM EXISTENCE” he then snapped his fingers, but nothing happened “HOW?!!!” Said Vakuum & tried again, nothing happened Vakuum said “Your alter self… defending you… why? Aren’t you enemies?….” Sorrel then started to get flashbacks from his journey, the places he saw, his friends & pokemon, Gengar, Ruta, Ginger, Nuphar, Abraham, Niva, Henna, Chua, Peyote, Caspar, Luxflon, his own shiny Luxflon, Suigetsu, Charry, X Rapidash of Trey & his own X Rapidash (who was once a Ponyta), Chirp, Chrissy, his cousin Chrissy, Bingus, Alice, Heck even Versil for some reasons, Trey…. Everyone…. Sorrel then feels a strange feeling, a feeling of power, a feeling of control, Vakuum’s eyes widened, he said “Why can’t i possess you nor kill you?!” He then sensed Sorrel’s ability of control, Vakuum said “Wait- don’t tell me-“ Sorrel then smirked a sadistic smirk, which was very rare, he said “Oh, damn right Vakuum! Damn right! Im gonna do it!” & then he transformed himself into a monstrous-thingy-creature, he also powered his pokemon up to an insane amount of power, now that he can bend the event horizon to his will, his pokemon also got new forms btw, Vakuum sent the exact same team as Sorrel, except they weren’t powered up to an insane amount, so Sorrel beat them up, but Vakuum was stubborn, he didn’t give up, so he sent a strange hybrid of X Trishout, X Shulong, X Shyleon & Dragalisk, but Sorrel who was insanely powered up beat the crap out of that monster & even inflicted some damage upon Vakuum, he then transformed to Normal, he stepped closer to Vakuum until he was right in front of him, Vakuum said “Yeah, i know, you’re stronger now! I get it! You’re really angry at me for trying to use you as a puppet & kill your Pokemon & friends! I guess i have no choice now…. Fine, you’re really mad at me, Right? Do it, kill me, erase me from existence!” Vakuum looked at the floor, away from Sorrel & said:
“All i ever wanted was to erase humanity, I thought maybe because you’re a furry and humans hurt you in the past then maybe… just maybe you’ll understand me….” Vakuum took a pause “the reason why Luxflon split off me… in the past, i heard my father & father, the creators of the universe, Cypress and Atlas, speaking about humans, i knew that in Atlas’s past, humans literally abused the crap out of him, shunned him, attacked him, a lot of evil things before he was turned into a god to rule with Cypress, I thought that if in Atlas’s home-dimension humans were that much of a monsters, what will happen if they were to exist in our dimension? A part of me, Dragalisk, agreed with me, wanted them to be destroyed, but another part of me, Luxflon, didn’t agree, he claimed that they are different and that we can’t judge them based off the humans of a completely different dimension, but I didn’t agree with my alter self, Luxflon, and then he splat off me, and thats where the story you know begins, of Luxflon creating the world” he paused again, “i saw what you went through Sorrel, the team dimension stuff, your father…. He literally tried to take away your dearest friend, your Trishout, Chrissy, he even got physical with you so you’d submit & do as he says, and that blue haired guy with the hairstyle that looks like a dick, Aster, we both know what he did to you, you remember damn well how he had anger issues & constantly got raged at you, tell me, How? How do you still accept humans as they are?” He pauses again and now grabbing his hand & sits with him, he speaks again “How were you able to just brush that Versil guy off your brain? Why do you still love Aster even though you literally feared his mere presence before? Why do you still care about humans even though you know they can be very very evil? Are you a masochist or something? Do you like to suffer?…. I don’t get it….” He finally looked into Sorrel’s eyes “I simply care, you know? I just don’t want this world to be ruined…. I don’t want anyone to suffer… i want some justice….”, during his explanation, Sorrel’s expression softened, he felt bad for him, Vakuum wasn’t evil at all, he simply wanted to help, but Sorrel knew how to fix it, he just gotta show him *how* to help, he gotta show him the correct way,
Sorrel said “I get your point of view and your will to help, and no, I really don’t like to suffer, i also don’t like those evil humans out there, but, not everyone is like that, you know? I didn’t just brush Versil off my brain, all this xenoverse incident thing is a trauma for me, it won’t disappear, i just stand up & try to move on, and about Aster, even tho he wasn’t always the nicest person ever, he still is a good person, he simply did a mistake, everyone do mistakes, both pokemon & humans, heck, even furries, not all humans are bad and evil, some are really nice and kind, like Alice, like Trey who’s actually a cyborg but was once a human, like Ginger, like Ruta, like all my friends, Alice was there for me during the whole journey to stop team dimension, she could just ignore me when i needed comfort & mind her own business, but she actually gave a fuck, Aster didn’t had to adopt me & take care of me, yet he did, cuz he’s kind, these are examples of good ones, but, i can tell you what, if you truly want this universe good and un-ruined then you could try and DESTROY the bad ones, they actually deserve that, and no, im not killing you, you don’t deserve that” he said with a calm and soft tone, smiling at him, Vakuum got surprised, he didn’t expect such kindness from the one who he literally hurt & worsened his trauma, but he brushed that off, he said “You… really aren’t gonna kill me?……” Sorrel nodded & said “No, im not planning on killing you, death is only a punishment for bad people or a saviour to those who are hopeless in life, like people with cancer, but you are neither of them, so go on, continue living your life as regular, BUT-“ he grabbed his hand gently “promise me that you’ll change your way” Vakuum smiles to him & said “thanks you… i will keep up this promise to you, and, if you ever need me, just ask for my help, i now owe you” he then vanished away to the place above (where all the gods are), Sorrel’s vision then faded,
He then saw pure blackness, until he saw something, he saw his house, but in a ruined & lonely version, instead of him he saw his Alter self and his X Trishout, it was basically the point of view of Alter Sorrel, Sorrel got Chrissy & got stronger, he got to embark on a journey, he got to access the power of Astral, Terrestrial & xenoversal energy, he got friends, he got everything while Alter Sorrel got nothing and was lonely, after this very sad sight, he saw himself in an event horizon again, he saw his Alter self, Alter Sorrel said “Sorrel, what you just saw was my POV, this is how i felt this entire 13 years, i bet you had a laugh seeing me like this- just kidding, no, this is over, this argument is over, i admit, i DO NOT hate you, in fact, in this sanity-consuming loneliness, you were the only one i had, even though i only threw my anger at you and nothing else, i still feel a little bit less lonely with you, so don’t take it too seriously” and then he vanished, but then Trey appeared behind Sorrel & said “Sorrel, long time no see, you’ve gotten even stronger now, didn’t you? Tbh, i kinda miss you, you know? How has it been all the time without me? I bet you missed clinging to me like a damn Necrozma to a Lunala, haha!” Trey paused but then spoke again “but no, seriously, neither do i know why am i here, although i do feel like we are gonna reunite again”, he paused till he spoke again “but, now you can create everything you want, what will you create? Maybe bring back the xenoverse, to stop the fury energy problem, you know?” Sorrel nods in agreement & then recreates the xenoverse, suddenly, both Trey’s & Sorrel’s vision went blurry, until it all faded, later they then woke up at Stardust beach, Sorrel coughed some water out of his throat, until he heard a familiar voice, “Kinda annoying needing oxygen, doesn’t it?” He looked besides him & saw Trey, Sorrel then got extremely happy, Trey said “yeah, neither did i predict that” he then grabbed Sorrel’s bag & took back his pokemon that he asked Sorrel to keep for him, he then let Sabolt out “Sab!” Sabolt said while being happy, Trey asked “Do you still live with Bitch-sil? Because knowing you, I don’t think you can even look at his 69 years old-looking face without getting trauma triggers” Sorrel said “actually, i live with Aster now, you know, that blue-haired 30 years old guy” Trey said “30? He looks 45” suddenly they heard a voice “Sorrel?! Trey?!” They both looked & saw Aster, Trey, being a cocky bitch, said “Actually, he looks 69” Aster ran to them & asked “Trey?! How are you alive?! Didn’t you die?!” Trey said “I don’t know what happened, but, are you aware i just insulted you??? Are you ignoring me on purpose???” And then Aster ignored him knowing he did it on purpose to spite him off & said “well, glad you’re back, you know, Sorrel really missed you, he sometimes had nightmares without you, he was in real misery” Sorrel asked Trey “Trey, where are you gonna go now? Do you have a house or somewhere to be?” Trey said “no, but i’ll be ok with living in the streets with Sabolt” Sabolt gave Trey a sad look “Sab…” he said with a sad tone, Sorrel, without asking Aster, said “Well! You can come with us!” Aster was shocked but quickly brushed it off, he was pretty rich and he didn’t had problem letting Trey stay, in fact, it might even make Sorrel happier, so he said “yes, you’re free to live with us, no worries about rents, i’ll pay them all” Trey said “hm, really? Ok”, he then went to live with them, everyone then had a much more peaceful life, not really perfect like they say in most stories’s endings, but it was much better, of course Sorrel is traumatised reeeaaaaaaal bad, and theres a lot of things that are unrecoverable, but its still better that way, the end

small little thing abt botw/totk and the future of zelda games considering it seems likely that future zelda games might be in the same style as those two and how i feel like botw/totk don't actually feel like zelda games (kind of messy i just typed this out in a kind of informal or whatever way) (this post is long af btw so uhhhh yeah)
im part of the group that claims that botw/totk aren't 'real' zelda games but... i guess they are technically 'real' zelda games, but... they sure as fuck don't feel like it, and because of that, i'm not at all excited with the idea of future loz games being in the same style, especially with the pitfalls these last two games have fallen into having been things that past zelda games did especially well, it feels like things have been sort of flipped on their heads in terms of what's being valued or whatever
like... the best parts of older zelda games were things like the story and the characters and the puzzles and the dungeons and stuff like that... the best parts of botw/totk right now are just the gameplay. people enjoy these new characters, but they dont have the narrative backing that older games do, they don't have the same impactful arcs or roles allowed by a more linear story
the point i want to get at though is how botw/totk honestly don't feel like direct evolutions or steps up from past zelda games but rather just... entirely different game styles (open world games) with the zelda flavoring and worldbuilding and story styling slapped on top.
i mean... i feel like a half-decent example of some other well-known franchises that have jumped on this (honestly kind of thoughtless) open-world bandwagon are mario (mario odyssey) pokemon (sword/shield and scarlet/violet) fire emblem (kind of. with some free-walking segments in 3 houses and engage) and the soulsborne type games (elden ring), these are all other well known and storied game series' that have somewhat made the move to open world, and i think that switch was a bit smoother, kept the core and integrity of the games that came before much better than botw/totk did
elden ring is the easiest to explain- the gameplay loop and core mechanics are the same and build upon past games' you just have more room to run around and get killed in with some little open-world flourishes like material gathering.
fire emblem is... a bit less flexible in terms of changing up the core gameplay, and the addition of open-world segments are added to add bonuses to the strategy gameplay and allow for more support-building oppourtunities and little minigames, and its more or less evolution from echoes' dungeon-crawling bits and the customizable castle in fates. the core gameplay still effectively works the exact same, just with some little class or mechanic tweaks and additions.
mario odyssey, though each world was pretty massive, still had your typical 3d mario platforming, and the new hat stuff fit in pretty well with olderpowerups and gimmicks, and the boss battles feel and work pretty similarly to the way they used it- odyssey does feel like an evolution from past mario games (ps. playing two-player with one person as cappy snaps the game in half. its the secret easy mode lol)
the new pokemon games are pretty much just the same as past pokemon games, theyre just open world and buggy as fuck rip have extra little open-world flourishes that build on what past games set up. the battling works the same as ever and the progression is the same with a number of powerful trainers you have to battle to continue forward.
with botw/totk... the progression is dramatically different in terms of power-scaling, world presentation, item-gathering, puzzle-solving... pretty much everything in the established zelda format. i get that it was pretty much the aim with botw to have a fresh start and throw out a lot of the old standards but it just makes them feel so dramatically alien to past zelda games; theyre completely different experiences in pretty much every single way, and as such they dont feel like what we've (well, people who have started with and spent a lot of time with other loz games) learned to associate with the zelda titles.
with open world games in general it's a bit harder to have a truly impactful narrative akin to those in past zelda games, anyways. i will admit that botw was a good execution of trying out something entirely new, and the narrative and gameplay and world actually complement each other very well, so despite what i've said in the past I can't really fault it's narrative too much since it's a less traditional sort of narrative and effectively does what it aims to do very well.
totk, on the other hand, proves that this style of game does not mesh with the old style of storytelling at ALL. linear games can have proper narratives with coherent stakes, developing characters, twists and reveals and building emotion and mood- and all of that is thrown out the window with totk when they decided to try and have both a more linear story with actual reveals and development and emotion, while also letting you literally spoil it for yourself out the gate.
you can't really have a well-executed story when players are capable of doing things drastically out of order and of jumping into story beats without the prior buildup and straight-up ruining what could be otherwise emotional reveals, and players being capable of doing this is hard-baked in how the game fundamentally works. I honestly feel bad for people who found the fifth sage by accident before anything else.
you can't effectively have a linear story with character growth and plot developments and impactful moments while also allowing it to be experienced out of order and with massive time gaps in between; with this kind of stuff, you can't really have your cake and eat it too. say what you will about the linearity of past zelda games, but i bet you that midna wouldn't be as beloved as a character as she is if it weren't for the linear order of the story and its events. certain parts of storytelling may demand for a linear manner of telling that story.
botw's story works because none of the memories reveal anything groundbreaking taht you don't already know; they are optional and merely give you more information about these characters from link's past and simply inform you about the girl keeping ganon at bay. if you find a late memory first, that's fine- it technically doesnt reveal anything too important to you, it just fills in some gaps for you and your player character. it makes sense within the story itself for the world to be so open and for you to be able to do what you can; the story is not the focus, nor is it even needed to beat the game. the story was made with the gameplay and what you are allowed to do in mind, and as such doesn't include things such as in-depth character development or important plot-twists.
on the other hand, you can easily spoil totk's biggest plot twist in a handful of different ways completely by accident, just by getting curious about the world around you. this can shatter a lot of the mystery or tension in the plot and this can happen completely by accident to someone playing the game organically and blindly. the story itself doesn't take this into account, it reads more like a linear story that would be more suited to a linear style of play, coming across things in order to ramp up the stakes and let things be revealed at the best possible time. (tbh totk's story doesnt seem to take the player into account in general, if the game forcing you to watch basically the same long cutscene four fucking times says anything, jesus christ)
narrative pitfalls aside, botw/totk put heavy emphasis on gameplay, but not in the same way older zelda games did, and as such trade away the unique items and gimmick-y game-specific mechanics for a small toolset handed to you out the gate. what botw/totk do- giving you everything you need from the start and having very little true varation in the gameplay from then on out- make sense and works just fine for an open world game. there is, however, a lack of actual depth to that gameplay that other open world games do have (off the top of my head, the ability to unlock and upgrade abilities and have general character upgrades in fenyx rising as well as the impressive depths of elden ring's combat and character customization system). the most depth botw/totk has to the actual gameplay is just the fourish different weapon types and the ways you use your fourish abilities (saying fourish bc for real ultrahand and fuse are fundamentally the exact same thing). there is also just raising the little defense numbers on your armor and getting more stamina and health, but that does absolutely nothing to the actual gameplay but make link more durable.
i mean, sure, health in past loz games just makes link more durable, too, but thats how health upgrades in any other game work.
the gameplay switch makes sense, considering the switch from a linear puzzle-adventure concentric game to a more sandbox-esque open-world game, but it does not mesh with the former loz formula at all, so while the shift in style makes sense, it makes me think that you can't have a previous-style loz experience in an open-world sandboxish sort of game. especially with how in totk you can very easily bypass most of the fire temple just using the mechanics handed to you at the start. you can't have the same type of zelda dungeons in a game where you are allowed to do it 'wrong' and the game itself does not allow for the same kinds of puzzles.
i am of the opinion that so long as future zelda games work the same way botw/totk did, we will not get old-school zelda-style dungeons again.
the loss of a variety of items used for specific puzzles and environment switches is the loss of a varied dungeon experience and the loss of the same kind of world and character progression as past zelda games.
you are handed everything you'll ever need at the start of botw/totk. the only thing that will meaningfully change is how much damage you do. there are no alternate strategies opened up by new items that can double as weapons, no new traversal options or routes opened up by things such as grappling hooks or clawshots or whips or specific wands. even the battle system is drastically different, instead of being enemies that take specific amounts of hits to die while you can obtain progressively stronger swords, enemies are just damage sponges and you can get all kind of weapons that just do different numerical amounts of damage.
the bosses themselves- big staples and draws of zelda games- also work extremely differently. instead of having to leverage specific items to expose weak spots or having to fight in a specific manner to do damage, you are just asked to... do damage. even in totk's bosses, where sage abilities are most certainly helpful, the only boss i found to truly require a sage ability was the lighting temple's boss; the others i either hardly used the sage at all (i didn't use yunobo at all in the second phase of the fire temple boss and hardly had a need for tulin with the wind temple boss [esp considering i was using a 3-shot lynel bow to make the poor fucker a cakewalk]) or found that alternative solutions felt better, like resorting to splash fruit on repeat water temple fights instead of wrestling with having to activate and use sidon's ability. the sages are honestly fairly poor replacements for dungeon specific items.
this kind of causes botw/totk to play more like a poor man's dark souls or just like any other open world rpgish game. i don't play botw/totk for the experience of a zelda game, i play it because it's an open world game that i can walk around in for five minute before switching to something else because i liked something in that other game better.
the combat in botw/totk isnt designed in such a way that makes it feel good. mineru's mech is fucking dismal, but since it's just either shooting with a bow or attacking with one of three types of melee weapon with some timing for a dodge, it can get stale fast. it doesn't necessarily even feel good, since there's not enough variety for it to get really engaging. (this is def an uneven comparison, but elden ring's combat feels considerable better with the different dodges you can do and the amount of attack options you have with just one weapon, not to mention the amount of control you have over your general fighting style.) combat in botw/totk at hour 1 is the exact same as combat in botw/totk at hour 100, the only different being the amount of damage you do or how much of a beating you can take.
it just... the styles of botw/totk can't allow them to feel the same as older zelda games. the shift in style was clearly a good move to draw in series newbies and shake things up, but it comes at the caveat of making them feel distant from their predecessors and uncomfortably similar to other games like them. it's hard to avoid comparisons with elden ring when on the surface they are very similar games, one just feels more true to its core identity
this all is said without mentioning the way in which botw/totk lore feels almost dismissive of past series staples and seems intent on not looking back while also taking every fucking attempt to nudge you and say 'hey, remember that zelda game' and honestly all that shit does is make me want to play a different zelda game.
botw/totk seem altogether very desperate to distance themselves from past zelda games while also being unable to really tear itself from what came before and it just culminates in me spotting linebeck island on the map and going 'damn i miss linebeck' and turning the fucking game off to play phantom hourglass instead. say what you will about phantom hourglass, but it certainly handles its story progression and character development infinitely better than the game that lets you accidentally shatter the impact of the story by deciding to check out that cool temple in the distance of the depths
#quick note abt the examples from early on i got the verdict on soulsborne games from my friend who has actually played more than elden ring#and pokemon was kinda a guess the most recently mainline pokemon game i have is sun/moon#totk has made me really think about what i like in video games and why lmao.#it has also made me appreciate botw a lot more. i prefer the emptier hyrule of botw it just feels extra cluttered in totk#i like how in botw its a lot more natural and more fun to honestly run around in with there being no falling debris or scary holes#salty talks#totk salt#being annoying abt totk again hiiiii. id like to talk abt stuff i liked in other loz games but its hard to start without some kind prompt#im not entirely sure how i could really explain how i feel totk's story failed and why without going in circles for a while#its just. the gameplay and the intended story experience clash like fucking crazy plus the story relies too much on the player#to do a lot of emotional heavy lifting#like. if you want to start a convo with me abt this go for it but this is what i have to say for rn#loz#legend of zelda#totk#botw#totk criticism#i do really appreciate botw now im not gonna lie. its still not amazing in my eyes but i appreciate it for what it is#also i cannot believe totk made linebeck island worse fuck you#like. in botw theres a goddamn chest with 50 rupees and thats a good subtle nod to what's being referenced#in totk theres just two bokoblins and nothing else and i dont care if it wouldve been lazy to just have the chest there again#you explicitly namedropped linebeck might as well make good on it. its more fun to continue having little nods like that#i understand when people say that saying botw isnt a 'real zelda game' is bad criticism but tbh its not really a criticism its just an#observation. it comes with its ups and downs and for me it makes me enjoy these games less and makes me feel a bit alienated#if that makes sense. idk. its late and if i continue with that thought im going to lose it for sure#ig just. im upset abt how totk handled its story and im upset at the idea of... this being the future of these games yknow#it feels like a selfish sentiment but idk#long post#bitching abt totk

Amethyst - Chapter Eleven
Pokemon Trainer Mackenzie sent out Hydroxica!
I grinned. I knew what I had to do. "Go! Lily! I know you can do it!" Lily stood opposite Mackenzie's water Pokemon, and when I instructed her to use Giga Drain, the waterbear lost almost half of its HP. Mackenzie grimaced before taking a little over a second to contemplate his next move.
Hydroxica used Ice Beam!
Gladlily was frozen solid!
A smirk developed on his face, as I pulled out an ice heal. Although it hadn't affected Gladlily's HP too much, it still rendered her unable to move. Following my heal, Mackenzie was quick to make his next move.
Hydroxica used Hydro Cannon!
This zapped Lily's HP down to 40%, however, I knew that her attacks would have a much greater impact. "Come on Lily, let's finish this dude off!"
"My Hydroxica is a girl!" Mackenzie corrected.
Gladlily used Razor Leaf! It's super effective!
Hydroxica fainted!
"Yesssssss! Go, Y/N!" Danny cheered, clenching his fists for my victory. I smiled, Danny's support was proving invaluable to me.
Mackenzie is about to send out Gengar! Will you switch your Pokemon?
You sent out Manganese!
Gengar used Gunk Shot!
Fortunately, it did not poison Manganese. However, his attacks were not very effective against Mack's super strong ghost Pokemon. Despite being strong against ghost types, Manganese fainted before he had the chance to finish off Gengar. And so, I sent out Zelda.
Zelda used Hydro Cannon!
The opposing Gengar avoided the attack!
Eventually, Mackenzie and I were both down to our last Pokemon. Mine was an Espeon, and his was an Umbreon. My breath hitched in my throat, Mackenzie was by far the strongest Pokemon trainer I had battled up to this point. He was insanely sharp, and he seemed to know exactly what he was doing. His Pokemon all had insane speed stats, and I definitely felt the pressure as the battle progressed.
Espeon used future sight!
Umbreon used Dark Pulse!
Espeon fainted!
Umbreon took the future sight attack!
Umbreon fainted!
It was over. We had TIED.
"Now THAT was insane!" Danny marvelled, clapping his hands as he jumped up. His Pikachu squealed in agreement. "You guys are top notch! Im nowhere near on your level!"
"So, who's buying the next meal?" Mack asked awkwardly. The three of us all looked between each other. I eventually spoke up, "I'll get it. But I think we should at least try to find Lisa first. Do either of you have any idea where she might be?"
"Last time I heard from her, she was on Juniper Mountain but the signal up there is kinda bad." Mack explained.
"Or she could've already made her way to Krodania to challenge the Steel Gym?" Danny suggested.
"Well I guess that's where I'm headed next." I said. "We have to get across Juniper Mountain in order to reach Krodania." The two guys nodded. "But I don't really want to go up there alone."
"I'll come with you. The Steel Gym is my next target anyway." Mack walked over and stood beside me before turning to Danny. "Are you coming with us?"
Danny shook his head. "Nah, that battle just now showed me I've still got a lot of work to do if I'm going to ever stand a chance against Maddie. You guys go on ahead, I'll catch you up, and if I see Lisa, I'll thrash her in a Pokemon battle." He proceeded to run off in the opposite direction. Mackenzie and I turned to each other. "He never changes, does he?"
****
The ascent up Juniper Mountain was a lot more difficult than I expected. It had a lot of really steep pathways, which were covered in slippery black ice. Since Stalagus was an ice-type, I decided to let him out of his Pokeball so he could guide us up. "Yeah, I'm not built for this." I commented, which earned a chuckle from Mack. "Me neither. I'm hoping to catch some little ice buddies though." As if on cue, a wild Snover appeared. When I threw out Zelda's Pokeball, she shivered due to the wild Pokémon's snow warning. "I really hope it doesn't actually snow. If my hair was covered in white stuff, I'd never hear the end of it from Danny."
"It'll be fine as long as there aren't any spiders up here." Mack replied.
As I pulled myself up onto a stone ledge, a very faint sound could be heard in the distance. "Do you hear that?" I asked. Upon listening closer, I could make out a gentle harp. Mackenzie and I looked at each other in confusion. "It's probably coming from nearer the summit." And so, as we began climbing, the harp sound grew louder and louder. I wondered to myself how it was physically possible for a person to lug not only themselves - but a heavy instrument - up such a steep mountain. Nonetheless, I shrugged the thought off so I could keep focused on climbing. Mack was only ever a few feet behind me. "This is nice and relaxing." He commented. "Makes me forget I could fall and die at any second-"
"Can you not?!" I hissed, not wanting to think about the possibility of falling. We successfully managed to haul ourselves out of the steep zone. "Yes!" I sang triumphantly. "Only a few more paths to go now." The paths were, however, slippery, and oftentimes we found ourselves clutching at the wall rocks for support. Yet, as we did so, the beautiful harp sound came to an abrupt stop.
"It's stopped..." Mackenzie remarked.
"Yeah no shit, Sherlock," I rolled my eyes. "Let's go check it out."
As we crept up the paths inconspicuously, we could make out two female voices. It seemed as though they were raised, arguing. Mackenzie and I scuffled our way behind some large rocks, so we could observe what was happening from a safe distance. Sure enough, two female figures were standing on the plateau of the summit, and the tension between them somehow worsened the already cold temperature. "Wait... is that Lisa?" He pointed towards the figure dressed in black. Upon further listening, we realised that it was indeed Lisa, and she seemed to be arguing with another woman, whose harp was placed behind her. She was very small, no more than 5ft, and thin. She was wearing a blue snood that covered the bottom half of her face, and her waist-length, platinum blonde hair was styled into a fishtail braid.
"I can tell you're a hoodlum simply because of how you're dressed. You look ridiculous, love." She sneered at Lisa, looking her up and down in a condescending manner.
"Hey! Who do you think you're calling a hoodlum? You're just sat up on a mountain playing a harp! Don't you have anything better to do?!" Lisa spat back. "And don't you dare EVER insult the style of Team Moon!" She was flailing her arm around, with a finger pointed at the nonchalant harpist who stood opposite her.
The blonde girl raised one eyebrow. There was a pause, before she burst out laughing. "You know, you're actually quite hilarious! When you're knocked out of the gym challenge, you should abandon Pokemon training and be a full-time stand up comedian!"
"What's so funny?!" A confused Lisa demanded.
I felt rage building inside me as the mysterious girl continued to taunt Lisa. Before I could stop myself, I sprung forward from the rocks and sprinted over to the scene, with Mackenzie in tow. "Hey you!" I called out. "Stop picking on my friend!"
The young blonde girl turned her head slightly towards me, and crossed her arms. "And what are YOU supposed to be?" She sneered.
"Mack! Y/N! What are you doing here?" Lisa asked us. This prompted the snobby harpist to take a few steps closer to where I was standing. Her piercing, turquoise eyes gazed right through me. I felt a shiver down my spine. "So you're Y/N, the little protégé everyone keeps banging on about? I must say, you don't strike me as being THAT powerful."
My fists immediately clenched at her words. How could one person be so small, and play such a gentle instrument like the harp, and yet still be so brazen and arrogant?! "Are you challenging me?!" I asked, swiftly whipping out Gladlily's Pokeball. This girl had rapidly made her way into my bad books, yet I couldn't understand why I suddenly felt so protective towards Lisa. Harp Girl only scoffed in response. "I really wouldn't go there if I were you." She smirked, before reaching into her pocket and grabbing a luxury ball. Damn, so she's rich as well... I cursed silently. The creature that proceeded to hop out of the Pokeball was one of the most bizarre-looking Pokemon I had ever seen. It didn't even look like a Pokemon to me. It looked like a monster.
"AGIAS! AAAHHHH-GIASSSS!"
It was... terrifying.
The monster towered over not only Harp Girl, but also the rest of us. Lisa and Mackenzie both let out gasps as the mysterious Pokemon inched closer towards us.
It was a very pale pink colour, and on the sides of its body were wheels that vaguely resembled a Cyclizar, oozing with psychic energy. Its eyes were red and beady, and I could tell by the sounds it made that it was at least partly mechanical. Another wheel protruded out from its chest, to which a third eye was attached. Then, perhaps even more bizarrely, the Pokemon started to speak.
"Epsilon hungry..." it hissed, licking its lips with a lizard-like tongue.
"It TALKS?!" Lisa exclaimed, earning a growl from the threatening creature.
"Epsilon not an it!" The creature spoke, although its tone appeared confused.
"Calm down, sweetheart. These are just miscreants. They can't challenge us in any way." Harp Girl patted the Epsilon on its back.
"Would you like to bet on that?!" Lisa stepped forward, whipping out her own Pokeball. Mackenzie then followed suit, grabbing an Ultra Ball. However, neither Harp Girl nor Epsilon seemed remotely phased.
"If you really want to play this game, then fine. Open up your Pokeballs." Harp Girl instructed. The three of us clicked on our Pokeballs, yet they failed to open.
Our Pokemon wouldn't come out. They were too frightened. I looked back up at Harp Girl with a frown etched on my features. Despite the fact the lower half of her face was covered, I could tell by her eyes she had the smuggest grin on her face.
She proceeded to speak, "Yeah, thought as much."
The large monstrosity also chimed in, "Epsilon's Master too strong for miscreants." It hissed, with an equally smug grin on its face.
"Come on then, dearie. We've got places to be." Harp Girl then jumped onto the back of the creature, and pulled up her golden harp, before ushering her Epsilon towards the cliff. She then spun around at the last second. "Good luck with your gym challenge, you bunch of weirdos. Ciao!" She snapped obnoxiously, before the creature spread its wings and leapt up into the sky.
The three of us watched, speechless, as the mysterious girl and the even more mysterious creature disappeared into the night sky, her long braid flowing in the wind.
"I'll absolutely have that stupid Regina George wannabe someday!" Lisa yelled, kicking the ground in frustration.

A Champion Time For The Heart Ch8 Battle Gym Leader Milo
(I have read somewhere sheep love dandelions so Im applying that fact to wooloos. I would also like to note that all side quests shall also be considered a part of the story.)
It would be nice to wake up without pain in your neck, sides, or back wouldn't it? That's what you wished you could do as you were shaken yet again the very next morning by someone. The four of you had decided to set up camp in the nearby camping grounds near the stadium since the day was starting to come too a close and you still weren't used to not sleeping on anything between you and the ground besides the thin floor of the tent and had fallen asleep feeling the hard ground beneath you and it must've taken you at least a good three hours before you had fallen asleep that night. Your sobble softly snoring sleeping on your head. And this morning was just like the rest when you woke up with a slight pain in your neck and back, popping them as you stretched. And with what happened yesterday you must've looked a sight-
"You look like you haven't slept in a month." Yep. It was Gloria decked out in her white gym uniform again ready to take on the day and battle ....or so it seemed.
You yawned and rubbed at your neck. Giving a groan as you already felt your sobble climbing on your back to reach it favorite riding spot and you gave him a look when he flopped half of himself over your shoulder. You were starting to see a pattern with this little guy liking to hitch a ride instead of walking himself.....Hm. Well if he was gonna stick with you for a while maybe you should give him a name? But right now you were more concerned with how much you were yawning. "Haha. I wonder why."
"Is she up?" Victor's head appeared in the opening of the tent next to his twin's and rose a brow at you blinking at the sunlight. "Oh...Wow you weren't wrong? Real case of bed head there, Y/n."
"Glad to know I can scare off Prince Charming," you sarcastically stated, "Although I wasn't expecting any kissing from any royalty anyhow."
Gloria snorted and Victor quickly held up his hands. "WHA- I-I didn't mean to be rude I swear it's just-"
"Ah. It's fine." You cut him off moving to grab your lumpy backpack/pillow at this point and made to crawl out of the tent. "Im always like this in the morning anyways. All I need is a quick hair brush and Im fine. ...What time is it?"
"Pretty early in the morning. We can all head on over to the stadium if you want but we'll still have to wait. Milo's still battling someone at the moment."
It must've been one of the trainers from before you guessed as you completely crawled out reaching up to straighten your hair out in an attempt to look presentable from a night of little sleep. "I guess he's still busy today. Kinda makes me wanna rethink my whole business license schtick if this means I'm gonna run a business like that."
"Business stick?"
"...Nevermind. Help me put away the tents then we can head on over to the gym ok?"
The four of you scrambled to put the tents away as you fumbled to get yourself looking half way decent. You doubted anyone would pay too much attention to you being only one random person sitting in the crowd of possibly hundreds of more people...That reminds you. You looked over your shoulder at Gloria who was currently in a pretty deep conversation with her twin whil Hop (tried to-) wrestle the tent down into it's more compact form. Victor mentioned she had stage fright. Not as bad as before stage fright, but still stage fright. He mentioned she had gotten A lot better but it seemed there was still some left since you could still remember her stiff smile and the way Hop had assuring held his friend's hand out on the field there, which was real sweet of him. You could definitely tell he was related to Leon. But it won't be the same here. It's not like you or anyone else would be there to encourage her while on field. The best any of you could do was cheer her on from the stage. Guess the two of you would have to roll with the punches as they were about to hit you. It didn't take too long to pack everything away, and you had helped Hop with his struggling battle to put the tent away. As soon as it was tightly packed away and placed onto Hop's back, you turned ready to journey to the stadium-
"Hey." Gloria's voice stopped you mid step as she pointed back up the way from the stadium. "Before we head on out I need to buy me some dandelions."
You gave her a look like she was crazy. "Dandelions? What would you buy dandelions right now for?"
"Milo's still busy right? Then we have time to get some before we go!"
You had zero idea what in the world Gloria would want with dandelions especially before her first gym battle, but you agreed since it meant you'd have some more time to straighten your hair out. So you agreed and she proceeded to buy dandelions at the florist shop. Stuffing them into her white uniform's pants pocket. She had bought a good amount and you wondered what in the world they were for. A gift for Milo perhaps? By the time the four of you made it back down to the GIGANTIC stadium. Her brother turning to her as you three stopped by to part ways. From here you could hear the cheering from the hundreds of people within and briefly wondered for a moment exactly where all these people came from. Certainly not this small town unless they traveled to see the matches. Which seemed more likely.
"Don't forget to show them your League Card to get in," Victor reminded her.
"I know."
"And stay calm."
"I know."
"Have a clear head and think things through alright."
"I KNOW!! Vic I'll be fine! You guys should get seats and watch me kick some butt!"
You heard him groan and shake his head. "Just....Don't forget what we talked about earlier alright?"
She nodded her head before giving him a smile and turned on her heel to trot on over to the front doors, which was guarded by more of those security people from the first stadium. Hop caught your attention when he nodded his head towards the stadium and you agreed following him as he turned to walk towards around the far side of the stadium with Victor hurrying to following behind. The three of you walked around until you came to two large double doors with stairs leading up and up into the stadium and you followed them screams and cheers becoming more and more prominent until you exited through the top and found yourselves high up and in side the stands....Huh. There wasn't as many people as you thought there would be. There was still a lot of people filling the seats around you but there was considerably less than at he opening Ceremony. There was still a good chunk of empty seats scattered about even with the large crowds. Surrounding the field was hundreds of seats with spectators cheering loudly and chattering likely excited for the next battle with Milo but said Gym Leader was no where to be seen on the field. Your guess was that he was taking a small break before the next battle to be had. You still followed behind them as they walked down the steps(thank GOODNESS that it wasn't as loud as the other stadium. You didn't think you could take that loud of a racket again.) and the lot of you were able to be seated a lot closer to the field this time thanks to the variety of open seats. As the three of you sat down the cheers of the crowd soon turned into loud but manageable to your ears murmurs. Your sobble had taken to pushing itself up half on your head to look around interested but you reached up to take him into your lap instead. Neck still stiff from your awkward sleeping position.
It was then you noticed there was no one on the grassy fields below. "Hey. Where is everyone?"
"Gloria must be going through the challenge right now," Victor said it was easier to talk to him now than at the Opening Ceremony. "It took Hop about twenty five minutes to make it through so we'll have to wait and see what happens."
"It wasn't too hard," Hop commented crossing his arms, "In Postwick it's practically a need to know skill how to herd wooloo. A right of passage if you will. That challenge was practically begging me to solve it!"
That's right. Hop and the twins were born and raised amongst these pokemon. This should be fairly easy for them you thought. Or more likely hoped.
"Is this being broadcasted on TV as well?"
"No. Only the Entrance Ceremony and the Champion Matches at the end of the year will be. All the battles at the stadiums are recorded though, but they're uploaded to the Gym Challenge League's official Poketube website. So Mom would still be able to watch us if she wanted too. It helps with the pacing of TV channels and networks and makes it more conveniet for anyone watching."
Ah. That makes sense. Guess you just had to wai- ....You blinked and squinted your eyes towards the field and pointed. "Hey. Who's that?"
Both boys looked towards the stadium's giant TV and Hop answered. "Oh. That's Dan. He's the gym's referee here, but he doesn't usually step out on field unless the battle's about to begin."
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!! THE BATTLE BETWEEN GYM LEADER MILO AND GYM CHALLENGER GLORIA SHALL BEGIN!!"
All three of you looked rather surprised at what was just said by the blonde man before Hop said what the three of you were thinking. "WHAT?! Already?! How could she have finished the challenge that fast!? It's barely been ten minutes."
You weren't sure yourself but were distracted by the sudden amount of cheers from the crowd as two more figures stepped onto the field. From the far left came Milo, the same man who worriedly apologized for letting his wooloo knock you over and from the right came Gloria..but she looked a bit different. Unlike last time, instead of stiff her movements were fast, jogging her way to the middle keeping her eyes slightly downward as the cameras caught her image and placed them on the screen for everyone to see. The two of them met somewhere in the middle of the field by Dan and although you could see their lips moving as they exchanged a few words you couldn't hear anything. You had guessed you wouldn't unless they had microphones to speak into. Before long the two bowed to each other before turning on their heels and walking away from one another. The flash of Victor's camera making you blink as he proceeded to capture his sister's first real battle of the league. Hop watching with a set determined face. The referee taking a few steps back himself, most likely not wanting to get caught in the crossfires.
"Here we go."
In one fluid motion with a cheer from the crowd, Milo threw a ball out and in a flash of light out came a gossifluer. Gloria mimicked the motion with her own pokeball and to your light surprise it wasn't a scorbunny. It was a corvisquire. The crow bird like pokemon gave a loud caw as it fluttered there awaiting orders. You didn't remember her catching that pokemon. Must've been one of the new ones she managed to capture back before you left Motostoke.
"BATTLE BEGIN!!"
Immediately Milo pointed and his lips moved in yelling in order. Immediately his gossifluer responded by a wind blowing around itself and suddenly leaves danced around it it a tiny tornado before being flung forward towards the bird pokemon. Razor Leaf move perhaps? Gloria's small form (or big form on the giant tv depending on which one you were watching) pointed back and barked something and like a blurred shadow the bird thing shot forward, dodging the leaves thrown at it, and like a seagal plucking a fish from the sea, the tiny gossifluer was quickly snatched up into the claws of the crow thing. You could only watch in worry for the poor thing as the corvisquire flew up, up, up until it would've been considered out of bounds of the gym. Before plummeting like a rock down below. THEY'RE GONNA crash!! Was the first thing in your mind as they went and just at the right moment the pokemon snapped it's wings back up and easily managed to fly away unhurt. A sigh of relief escaped you. Thank goodness....Only...it no longer had the gossifluer in it's claws. Your hold on your sobble increased making it give you a confused chirp, as your f/c eyes instantly went to the part of the field it would've crashed into. Only to catch the part glimpse of a light going back into the pokeball in Milo's hand. That could've only meant that Gloria managed to one hit K.O. the poor pokemon. That didn't sound right, unless the corvisquire she caught was pretty strong or-...Oh no. It couldn't be that- No time to wonder on that now as Milo sent out another pokemon who looked like a walking puffy dandelion. Eldegoss if you remembered right. While Gloria kept her corvisquire....before returning it. Guess she was changing it after all.
"ALL RIGHT!! DYNAMAX TIME!!"
You didn't have time to ask Hop what he meant. A bright red glow oozed out of the band Gloria wore upon her arm as she held her pokeball, it quickly was surrounded by the glowing energy before becoming bigger in her hands. She stumbled a bit seeming to have trouble with the added weight where you for sure thought she'd fall, before up righting her self and turning around. With her teeth grit, Gloria raised the gigantic red pokeball above her head and tossed it. Your eyes followed it as it sored as high and far as she could- CRAP!! Your hands came up as an explosion of red appeared out of no where like multiply giant fireworks, followed by a whoosh of wind strong enough to push your body back and an UNGODLY giant cry in such high volume you could've sworn your ear drums could burst. There was a very loud chirp of panic and your eyes opened in a panic down to your shirt just as your sobble dove under it to escape the now......FREAKING. GIANT. BIRD THING!!! THAT THING WAS MASSIVE AS YOU STARED AT IT FLYING!! Thank god the stadium was built big enough for that thing to flap it's wings!! Speaking of which every flap sent a gust of wind flying from it, making Victor have to hold hit hat with one hand as he continued taking photos! Good gosh! No wonder your sobble was shaking against you! That'd thing give would give you nightmares too! A red circle of dynamax clouds hung over the Corvisquire and it's black body now had a red shine to it. Looks as if Milo had decided to do it as well, because he did the same process of returning his own pokemon and adding the same red energy from his dynamax band. Giving the precious red pokeball a few pats with a smile before turning around and with one arm chucked it into the air behind him. Once again you had to shield your eyes from the bright explosion of red as the giant eldegoss made it's appearance with a slam down on the field that disheveled the ground and shook the stadium from under you. In an instant Gloria pointed towards the dynamaxed grass pokemon and must've given some kind of order you couldn't hear. Because it was at that very moment what you could only describe as a giant whirlwind of a tornado whipped from the corvisquire and straight for the eldegoss in a dead hit. That's right. Dynamaxing was a cool thing, but neither pokemon could dodge each other's attacks they were too big. Dynamaxing was a test of brute will to see how much you could hold out. And you were pretty sure Gloria had the upper hand but not because you thought she was super strong. The high winds made the three of you clutch your seats as it hit the eldegoss head on. If your hair wasnt a mess before it was now. Once the winds (other than the powerful breezes from the bird's wings) died down, you nearly choked seeing Gloria's form on her hands and knees clutching the grass to not be blown from the dirt. HOW WAS MILO STILL STANDING!? With a shriek of it's own the eldegoss leaned it's large head forward and you were surprised when three large green seeds fired off from it's head and landed with giant thuds under the bird's feet. Thank goodness Gloria was already ducking. What sprouted forth was GIGANTIC green mushrooms and grass surrounding it, then it exploded in a giant flash of green light. Giant glowing petals made of energy shooting everywhere before disintegrating into thin air. Green waves of energy washing over the crowds as the bird gave off a giant eagle cry of it's own but still flying in tack. ...That was one tough chicken!
"Eldegoss's Dynamax Move!! Awesome isn't it!?"
You couldn't answer. Another giant eagle cry pierced the air making your ear hurt and two black jet streams poured from it's wings. You watched in horror and shock as the dark jet streams encircled the poor grass pokemon. Encasing it with a dome of black before exploding in a blast of black. The eldegoss crying out in pain as is tilted towards the ground- OMG! That thing was gonna crush Milo!! The eldegoss went out in an explosion that sent dirt clouds flying up everywhere as it timbered glowing brightly through the dust clouds as it magically shrank down winthin it's own mess. You all watched with baited breath as the clouds spread out and covered the famous gym leader as well, Gloria's bird pokemon glowing a bright reddish color before beginning to shrink down until it was back to it's normal size. It's normal size being about as big as Gloria herself (which was still pretty big but when again you remembered how big corviknight are supposed to get), and perched back onto the ground right next to it's trainer who was staring from her kneeled position as the dust literally settled. At least the giant gusts of wind weren't pushing you against the seats anymore. Maybe you should suggest to Leon to install seat belts on these stands. As the dust finally settled with great relief you saw Milo, unhurt and waving his big sunhat to shoo the dust away. Behind him was a giant crater in the ground and disheveled land. All that was left behind from the battle that had taken place.
"THE BATTLE IS OVER!! VICTORY GOES TO GYM CHALLENGER GLORIA!!"
The absolute UPROAR of the crowd's cheers along with Hop standing up to shout his own cheers to his rival/friend and another flash from Victor's camera signaled him capturing the shocked look on his sister's face just standing there looking around herself....Before you saw the brightest smile Gloria's ever given on her face and hugged her corvisquire making the poor pokemon wobble on it's feet as Milo placed the hat back on his head. The gym leader took a moment to look behind him at the disheveled field and big crater in the ground before looking back to the teenager and approaching her. Gloria seemed to notice because she stopped hugging her pokemon to face Milo with wide eyes as he approached her. The two exchanged words for a moment before Milo held out his hand in a fist with a smile. Wide eyed she took a moment to stare at it before slowly holding out her own hands and he dropped something into the palm of her hands. Wide eyed and staring straight at it, it only took her a few moment for her to hop about excitedly and hold up the small thing in her hands. The cameras zoomed in enough for you to see that she was holding the same badge Hop had showed you the other day on the TV. She did it!? Her first badge! One more step on your way home! ...At Least you hoped. In the end the two of them shook hands and soon after excited the field as the three of you exited the stands, you taking your sobble and putting him on your shoulder again. The poor shaking pokemon calming quickly noticing there wasn't anymore giant pokemon. Hm. You might have to put him in your backpack from now on if he was gonna react all scared and hide like this. By the time the three of you excited the stands Gloria was already waiting outside the doors she went in. Smiling and bounding over towards you waving the badge around in her hand.
"LOOK AT THIS!!," she yelled excitedly shoving the badge in your faces the bronze-gold shining in the sunlight. "On my first try too! I told you I could do it!"
"You must've took my advice then."
You gave Victor a curious look. "Advice?"
He nodded. "Yeah. We used to play VR battles when we were younger as practice since we didn't have any pokemon. I suggested she pretended it was like the game and try her best."
Oh. Well that worked out pretty well for her anyways. Hopefully it'll work for the next battle as well, but you were a bit concerned that Gloria(and Hop-) only won because Milo and his pokemon was overwhelmed and tired by the onslot of trainers coming so early. But you were reluctant to say so. Not only because you didn't want to disturb the progress of the game's story more than you might have already did just by being here, and because you didn't want to hurt either of their feelings. Weighing your options, you decided that not mentioning it was the better choice for now.
"Congrats! I knew you could do it!," you complimented as she smiled wider.
"Thanks! I guess we all must be on the same battling skill level then!"
"HECK YEAH! Wouldn't expect anything less from the greatest trainers to come out of Postwick!" You chuckled at him. "Oh by the way. What'd you do with all those dandelions you bought? Did you give 'em to Milo or something?"
A sly smile spread across her face. "Nope! I'm surprised you didn't remember."
He rose a brow. "Remember what?"
"Expert on wooloo huh?" She shook her head. "Wooloo love eating dandelions! That's why you barely find any of those flowers where wooloo graze or on farms in general. The objective was to get the wooloo to knock over the hay bails right? What better way than to get them to chase after you with their favorite food?"
Wow. That was actually a really smart idea you had to admit. Growing up in a farming community must really pay off. Hop's jaw practically fell open with this new revolution and his hands hands came up to grip his head. "AW MAN!! Why didn't we think of that!? I got my own wooloo for crying out loud!"
"Hey. It's ok. You're still smarter than me when it comes to science and research. You'd be a pretty good scientist too!"
"Science? Really?"
Hop nodded with a sigh. "Yeah. But it's more of a hobby, I just find learning stuff interesting y'know. But my main goal is to become the next Galar Champion!!"
"Not if I beat you to it!"
"Bring it on, Glory!
"Speaking of becoming champion," you interrupted the two, "Have you guys figured out which person you're gonna battle next?"
Both of them paused before looking at each other and Hop shrugged. "Well, there's really no particular order you have to have to battle in so I can pick anyone I want to battle next. It really doesn't matter as long as you get the eight badges for your Badge Circle...." She looked at you. "But Mr. Milo suggested I should go battle Nessa instead. He said she might be a good challenge for me."
"Nessa? Isn't she that model lady you showed me before?" She nodded.
"No way! That's where we were headed too!" Hop smiled. "Victor and I could use the next challenge. This is a great chance to do a bit of traveling together!"
"Hey that sounds like a great idea! But first I want to check out this Turrfield treasure."
You all looked at her confused. "Turrfield treasure?"
She nodded. "I heard from a kid that there's supposed to be some kind 'o treasure around here. I think I figured out the riddle since then and I wanna go check it out before we leave."
"What kind of riddle?"
She made a thinking face. "Uh...Hang on a sec. What did she say how'd it go again? Some treasure lies in Turffield and the way to find it is with the standing stones and a riddle."
"Standing stones?"
"She means the ruins around Turffield," Victor answered you seeing the confusion on your face. "Some people call them 'Standing Stones' since most of them stand upright with their strange carvings."
"Seek the standing stones with Grass before the other ones," Gloria recited, "Use well that strength and find then the strength of it's strength in the end. Dally not if you've a mind to find what time has left behind...I don't know what it means tho."
"I do! It's about Pokemon types duh."
The three of you looked at Hop. "How did you solve that mystery?"
His answer was to point upwards towards the small florist and gift shop. "You remember the gift shop up there we were in?" You nodded confused. "They have this brochure in there with info on the Geoglyph and Standing Stones. I got curious after what Glory said about the thing and had a lil peek. It turns out one of the older standing stones has symbols that spell the word 'Grass' on it. And then there's two other's with 'Water' and 'Fire' cut into 'em too. It's like the three pokemon types. Grass types are usually stronger than water types but water types are usually stronger than fire types. And Fire Types are usually stronger than Grass types. It's a whole cycle of advantage type strengths."
You all were completely floored with such a logical and smart answer to come out of the teen but Gloria seemed the most impressed when she suddenly grabbed onto his hands making the poor boy freeze. "NO! WAY!! Oh my eevee! That makes so much sense! Hop you're a genius!!"
....He blinked a pink hue coming to his cheeks. "I-...I-I am?"
"YES!," she insisted eyes wide, "Who else would've been smart enough to figure out that riddle in one day!? And make the connection with pokemon advantages!" She gave him a tug and he stumbled a bit as she pulled his hands. "C'mon! We gotta go check 'em out! You know where they are right?"
"Wha- GLORIA!! What about our travel plans!?," Victor shouted after her gesturing towards a road that if you looked, was the way out of town.
She waved him off tugging Hop quickly down a different path back towards the Geoglyph. "It's just a quick look see! We'll meet you guys at the Pokemon Nursery on Route Five!!"
"GLORIA WAIT!!.....UGH!!" Victor facepalmed himself with a groan as he stood there and you blinked. "This is why I'm glad she has a traveling buddy." He looked back up at their disappearing forms with a scowl. "She gets one idea in her head there's nothing stopping her from getting it! Then she just rushes off into it without a second thought."
"Then I take it she didn't tell you about trespassing on the Chairman's mine shafts."
"She did WHAT?!"
"Uh...Nevermind," you deflected pointing down the road. "Should we uh...Go wait for them?" In the end Victor huffed, shook his head, and turned on his heel to begin walking down the road. So you took that as a yes and made to follow him. "So....Where's the way to this Nessa person?"
Victor took a minute to respond with a sigh. "I'm not too sure. I know it's all the way on the other side of Galar in a coastal town called Hulbary. So it's safe to say it'll take some time if they insists on battling her gym next. Let me check my map." You watched and walked beside him patiently as Victor reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. Turning on to where the screen lit up and then spoke. "Hey Rotom. How long would it take to travel from the town of Turffield to the town of Halbury?"
Now you know you shouldn't have been surprised considering all phones had a rotom pokemon in it acting as this world's version of 'Hey Google' but you still blinked at the almost robotic voice answering him back. "ZZZZT. Follow on Route 5 to your destination. By Flying Taxi it would take approximately a week. By foot near a month."
"A WHAT!?"
He gave you a look. "Flying is a lot faster than walking, and Hulbury's all the way across Galar from here. Of course it would take that long to travel by foot." Oh...right. Not a game. R.I.P your poor feet and the many night of awkward sleeping positions to come. He looked back to his phone messing with something on the screen a few times. "...According to this, Route Five starts once we pass the Pokemon Center and cross Turrfield Bridge. From there it's a straight course right across country to the east coast. It might take a while but it's the most convenient one for all of us."
"Isn't there a train or those taxi things?" Even if you REALY didn't want to try using those birdbrain powered taxi's you didn't like the sound of you walking across country for about a month either.
"Even if we got a taxi you heard Rotom. It'd take like a whole week of flying. And the corviknights need time to rest and eat and sleep too. They're living things just like us. Even cars, trains, and planes need to stop and need time to tune up and refill on gas don't they? And besides there's no train stations or Flying Stations set up in Turffield. If you want a train you'd have to travel back to Motostoke which is half a week, or you'd have to call a taxi from there to pick you up. Besides we all have a whole year to complete this task. One month out of eleven more isn't going to hurt anyone."
Except your feet and sleeping abilities but you couldn't argue. He was right. You traveled for four days and waited five for Gloria to get her first badge. You could do it again but longer. As the two of you walked down the road, the town began to fade away a bit behind you as you two traveled down the road. You both were just crossing over a small hill when you noticed a small cabin like building with a sign above his door reading: Turffield Pokemon Nursery. That must've been it! It looked as cozy as it did cute. And a little bit a ways from it was a bridge. That must've been the Turffield Bridge Victor spoke of earlier. Maybe you two should wait for the other two inside? It was pretty sunny out and you've been in the sunlight for a while. As you two walked towards the building, some movement near the bridge caught your eye and your eyes turned towards said movement. And your vision was filled with blurs of black and red and your hearing clogged with yelling. Your hand instinctively coming out to grab Victor's shoulder. The teen stopped from the tug on his shoulder a few yards away from the Pokemon Nursery before giving you a confused look as you stared. He followed your gaze just as what was happening finally registered in your head. It was those goons again! The weird ones that looked like they just stepped out of some kind of rock concert! The same ones from the hotel back in Motostoke! Why were they here tho? Two men who looked about your height a bit taller, were standing there on the bridge just as it connected with the road and backed against a part of the bridge was another man who looked all dressed up to be a doctor. Blue jumpsuit and a mask over half his face as he held up his hands to the men. Now yelling could be heard.
"OI! Just hand over that bike already!," One of them shouted pushing the smaller man's shoulder once, "We need it to cross this long bridge!"
"N-N-No!" The doctor man stammered out backing further against the wall of the bridge. "I-I bought this with my own hard earned money f-f-fair and square! What would two blokes like you even do with it!?"
"We're gonna use that bike ta chase around Gym Challengers! It'll be a scream!," the other said before cackling out with laughter.
"WHAT!? N-NO WAY!! I-Im not letting you two meatheads use my bike to chase around innocent children!"
"...Victor?"
"Yeah I see it." He peered around you brow raised looking at the scene before you two. ''Who the heck are those guys?"
You didn't answer, just stared as the two brutes jabbed the man again demanding his bike (or lack there of as you couldn't see one-) be handed over to them. How mean! But what really caught your attention was mentioning chasing around gym challengers. Now you couldn't remember if anything like this had happened in game but chasing around innocent kids for whatever reason just didn't settle right on your gut. There was two kids with you that were challengers and one could easily mistake Victor for one if you weren't careful.
"....You stay here." To reiterate your point you pulled Victor to the side of the road and firmly planted him there. He blinked and opened his mouth- !? He blinked again once you shoved your backpack into his arms and began walking. Your sobble giving a small chirp of surprise with the sudden movements. "Hold this."
"Wha- H-HEY! Y/N! What're ya doin'!?"
"C'mon old man! Give us the darn bike and we'll leave ya alone! You can get another one!"
The man scowled up at them. "T-Then why dont the two of you BUY one!?"
"Money's tight man! Just give it to us!"
"HEY UGLY!!" Dust sprayed everywhere or at least over one of them. As the three men turned to the sound of a woman's voice only for one of the weird rockstar wannabes to receive a splat of dirt picked up from the road to hit him square in the face and have the rest of it cover his front body. The man sputter/screamed out and hands immediately went to wipe at his face. Luckily none got in his eyes so no pain, but that didn't stop the annoyance. Especially since when he looked back up there was a girl standing there hands on her hips and sobble half hiding behind her head as she point. You gave them the angriest scowl you could muster. "You two KISS lookin' airheads leave that poor man alone! He already said no so beat it before I make you!!"
Behind you Victor's jaw dropped and the two goons seemed to be at a loss for words for a moment. Looking between the two of them confused before scowling and looking back to you. Crap. These two were both at least a good foot or two taller than you were. You hadn't really thought ahead but no turning back now.
"Oi! Girly, why don't ya mind your own business?"
"Yeah! This doesn't concern you!" They said leaning over you. Unknown to anyone your sobble was starting to get a bit teary eyed at the two above him.
"It IS my concern if you're going around hassling innocent people! What'd the guy do to you two?! Back off and leave him alone before I call Officer Jenny on your arses!" Really you didn't know if this region had an Officer Jenny, but it seemed to work as their scowled wavered a bit.
"Whatcha gonna have us arrested for!? We haven't done any crimes yet!"
"Yeah yet! And what about you two planning on scaring everyone you see?"
"Last chance Girly!" One poked your shoulder as if to intimidate you. "Mind your own busines-"
"WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
The three of you were interrupted by a loud almost baby like wail as you immediately cringed from it being from directly next to your head. You hissed hands coming to cover your eyes in a panic feeling tears start to sting from them. Was the pain of the yelling so loud you started crying?! If you could've seen past your furious wiping and tears you would've noticed the other men starting to cry as well, face paint starting to run down their faces.
"AAA!! M-Man what's goin' on!?", one shouted to his companion.
"I-...I D-DONT KNOW!! LET'S JUST GET OUT OF HERE OK!?"
They fled. Bumping into you and knocking you over in the process. You yelped as you fell to your butt on the dirt road and your sobble let out a choked hiccup as it was jostled from your head and onto the grassy ground in the men's haste to escape. Well...the baby cry was gone at least, but there was still a few hiccups from behind you as you hissed and used your sleeve to furiously wipe at your stinging eyes. WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT ALL ABOUT!?
"OMG! Y/N! ARE YOU ALRIGHT!? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?"
"Here young lady. Turn your head up." You blinked crying to see past the stinging of your tear soaked eyes and someone gently grabbed your jaw. A Second later a wet cloth was wiping at your eyes. Almost instant relief came from your sore red eyes as someone wiped at them. "There we go. Lucky for you I always have a Sobble Tear Cloth handy on me due to how sensitive the little ones can be." Once you got enough clear vision you could see the faces of Victor and the doctor man who were both kneeled next to your fallen body. "There now. How do you feel?"
".....Peachy,'' you mumbled shaking your head from his grip. "What was that?"
"Your sobble crying. When sobbles cry it's like someone chops a hundred onions near you. It's a defense mechanism that's highly affective as you can see. The effects take a while to wear off but luckily for you I happen to be an expert on these kids of things." Grabbing your arm the man carefully helped you on your feet and smiled behind the mask. "Thank you kindly for the help. But you didn't have to, Im sure they would've left sooner or later."
You waved a hand sniffing as said sobble began to immediately start climbing up your pants leg again. Combined with your wooloo bowling trip, you must've really looked a sight. "It's fine. Can't be worse than being knocked over by a wooloo. Are you alright, Mister?"
He nodded. "Yes. Thanks to you. Here. Let's get you to the Nursery. There's some eye drops in my office that might help you further. I work there as one of the nurses with the caretaker and her assistant."
You nodded and with the urge to wipe at your eyes the Docter and Victor helped you stumble walked your way towards the Nursery, your sobble continuing to climb up your body with little difficulty as it reached your shoulder. You felt it touch your cheek and give a small chirp but at the moment you paid it no mind trying not to fall over.
"Hey, Vick-...Oh wow. What happened? Was Y/n crying or something?"
Oh great. Well at least they finally showed up.
"Ill tell you later. Opening the door over there and let's get her inside."
The next thing you knew you were inside a cozy looking house and was given eye drops. It took a few minutes for you to go back to normal and the redness around your eyes to subside. But by the time it did you were feeling way better and sitting on a green couch. One hand petting your sobble who happily accepted the affection with a smile. Hop and Gloria had returned from their small search a little bit after you had managed to chase those men off, and they happily explained their trip from standing stone to standing stone...But unfortunately didn't find anything other than an old ten dollar bill that someone most likely accidentally dropped while visiting them. And Victor got to scold you about just walking up to strangers like that. Weren't you the grown up here? Glad to know everyone was ok tho. The elderly lady at the center had offered the four of you tea as thanks for helping to rescue their nurse and Gloria excused herself to check out the Center's Free Pokeboxes in their own rotomi stations. When you asked about it Hop was happy to explain.
"Oh. Free Pokeboxes are basically boxes from people's rotomi boxes. Usually Nurseries and Centers get a whole lot of them if a pokemon's trainer passes away, or if they were donated or abandoned to the system. From there they're sorta put up for adoption or released back into the wild if no one claims them within a year or so.....Y'know I think Ill take a look too. I might just find a neat new partner." He got up to go join Gloria currently flipping through options on the rotomi leaving you with Victor sitting on the couch.
You sighed. "Man. Some day it's been huh? A riddle solved. A gym battle won. And now a nurse was saved."..You pointed over towards the other two. "Are you planning on grabbing some free pokemon too?"
"All thanks to you. But please maybe don't be so reckless next time. I was afraid something bad might've happened to you by what those brutes yelled running off." ...He shook his head. "Nah. I already evolved my eevee so I'm good for now."
"Oh? What'd they say? And when did you that?"
He hummed. "Um....I think....'You're too strong!" He tried to repeat in a failed attempt at a deep man voice. "If you stay in the Gym Challenge you're gonna cause problems for our lady! You haven't seen the last of us! We're gonna make sure you stay out of our lady's way!'..Or something like that. And I picked up a water stone while we were in the Wild Area. Seemed like a good thing to do since Vaporeon is a lot stronger than when it was a wee eevee."
Well that perked your interest. You stared at him. "Our lady?...Does that mean someone ordered them to go after Gym Challengers?"
He hummed a more worried look coming over him. "Could be. But I wouldn't know who or why. Who'd want to go after the Gym Challengers?"
That was a very good question. You wracked your brain for a moment. Was there any person in the game with a pack of goons? And was there any lady out to stop the gym challengers? Your memory turned up nothing as you sighed and sunk back into your seat on the couch as you did. Those goons were at the hotel and now here as well. That couldn't just be a coincidence could it? No...You had a feeling there was something linking those guys to whatever's about to happen to you. Too bad you didn't know. As you both silently sat there, another person walked in through the door and up to the counter but you paid them no mind even as Gloria approached them.
Eventually you sighed. "I wouldn't know either it seems, but just in case I think we should all be keeping a really close eye out for anymore of those guys and let Leon know the first chance we get. As the saying goes better be safe than sorry."
"Couldn't agree more. Especially since this is concerning my friend and sister."
"What's concerning us?"
Oh that was Hop. You turned. "We wanted to tell you about-" You blinked coming face to face with a grumpy purple face in the arms of Gloria as she held the tiny pokemon clinging to her like a baby. ...You pointed. "Where did you get that?"
"My Toxel? The lady that just came in wanted to drop it off. Somethin' bout hatching it and not being the pokemon she wanted or some speel. I couldn't just let a cutie like this go into adoption or tossed out in the cruel wild after just being hatched." She held it up to her face as she smiled. "Look at how cute you are! Who'd wouldn't want acutie pie like you?" The baby toxel in her arms responded by reaching an arm out and grabbing her nose. Aw! Cute.
You shook you head with a smile before standing. Lifting an arm up with your sobble clinging to it to allow it to freely crawl back onto your shoulder before you stood up slinging your pack over your shoulders. "C'mon. I'll tell you as we walk. The sooner we start the sooner we can reach Hulbury and our next step of this little adventure."

(@wingsofachampion) Hiya! What's the Sonsa region like? -Tropius
HAII!! thanks for asking >:0 im super duper passionate about my home !!
it’s a small archipelago with 9 islands ! i was born on the biggest one which is bitis’ay :3 that’s also where the Pokémon community headquarters are !! pretty much the base of operations for both the Pokémon contests and the Gyms in this region … so it’s cool that no matter which path you take you get to end up in the same place at the final stretch!!!
it’s mostly suuuper hot here, like… year round ^^*> but the Pokémon community leaders made some artificial environments for ice type Pokémon like … 50 years ago? i remember learning about the way they were made in history. that way we can be versatile and have a wider ecosystem !! gym leader nanuq raises special ice type rockruff on one of those snowblocks (that’s what we call them heheh) which I think is really cool !!
ummm as for battling and championships and stuff … pokemon contests are bigger here than the gym challenge is in other regions lol!! since it’s year round and everyone can compete whenever they like . the gym challenge is only once every two years!! and to make it extra interesting and maybe a bit different from other regions , all of the trainers there run on theme !! since a lot of what they saw in places like kanto or johto was trainers specifically crafting teams with supereffective types because they knew ahead of time … here you can’t even guess! we have a serpent gym here, and miss Medusa’s team had a seviper, a steelix, gyrados, and serperior….
ANYWAYS AHEHE my ramblings are over now !!! thank you so much for asking tropius :0 i need you all to come visit!!!
(P.s.. it’s really cool that you’re a Pokémon and a trainer!!! I know your dreams will come true friend!!!)

Today on Blue Nuzlocke:
Not one but TWO gym battles today. Kunigami soloed Milo and the gang. We make for route 5 and my first encounter is a fucking Applin 💀 named him Kurona to try and soften the blow and make him grow on me. Its not working. That thing sucks so bad. To the boxes with ye. Get to Hulbury and I am acutely aware that we are not fucking ready to face Nessa. So I’m scrambling trying to figure out where and how I can get more guys. Preferably with advantage over water types.
Now. Folks. This is the part where it gets embarrassing for me… yall I do not know pokemon type strengths and weaknesses. So my first move. Was to find an ice type. And I did. We now have a little baby Snorunt named Rin. And then I googled water type weaknesses. And then I debated blowing up. So at this point I’m like shit and also damb. Where do I find a pikachu. But I don’t look up where to find pikachu I just start walking around in a location I haven’t encountered anything yet. And I am flabberghasted by a Stunky. Ok. Whatever. Catch it. My son now. His name is Karasu. And he gets boxed cuz he cannot help me right now.
So its been hours and I’m still just as unprepared for Nessa as when I started but I’m such an “oh well” and “lets get it over with” girlie im like hey. If Kunigami (vulpix) can pull it off so can Aryu (budew). And then I stall for a minute to go fish in Hulbury because OBVIOUSLY im gonna need a water type on hand for the next gym. Which I will surely be reaching. We go. I get a chewtle. Ok cool. Looks like Tokimitsu. Rock on. Boxes for now. Nessa time.
Aryu is fucking schooling the water gym. I’m like thank fuck. And when he starts getting low I throw Gagamaru (meowth) in there and he finishes it up with his metal claws or whatever the fuck its called. I do their silly little puzzle and I’m ready to die I mean live. Nessa fight is going all according to keikaku until she pulls out Drednaw. Who has Aryu on the ropes from the word go. Like to the point where I cannot risk even switching him out because my other troops are wounded. (I took Kurona in as our third to try and give him leveling opportunity. Not a good move. He was useless.) But I’m not going to let her kill me after everything I’ve been through. So what ends up happening is the worst quality tv you’ve ever seen. Just 25 minutes of me spamming potion in response to her nonstop Headbutts and waiting for Aryu’s poisoning to drain Drednaws stupid life away. It was boring. It was excruciating. I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone. But we survived. Nessa made some comment about my character having the ‘will to take on the champion’ or something’ and I wish their was a way to convey to her that I was sat in bed debating killing myself from about her third exact same move. Guys I don’t think Nuzlocke is fun. Oh my god.
Anyways <3 Two down however many to go. We make for Galar mines no. 2. Bede kills Kunigami. Fucking unreal. But its chill because he has wildcard privileges. The king WILL return if I have anything to say about it. Um. Then some random trainer kills Tokimitsu. Im like well. Ok. And now I’m in the mines fishing because I still need a water type for OH THAT RIGHT. Ok so I went back to Motostoke to fish somewhere between somewhere cuz again. Need water type. And I get a fucking. Magikarp. So you know I had to name it Igurashi. Its lvl 8. Genuinely I don’t even think its worth dealing with it. Ugh.
So anyways back to the mine. I’m fishing. Guess what? Its a fucking chewtle again. At this point me and those fucking things have BEEF ive been trying to level my dudes and they have been non fucking STOP they are EVERYWHERE every patch of grass every fishing spot every dynamax hole in the ground ITS BEEN MADDENING. And technically the set of rules I’m playing on says I can get another go if I run into something I’ve already got but. I decided its funnier this way. And also Tokimitsu died so technically I DON’T got. So this bastard is coming home with me. Fine. Named him Kaiser. My enemy’s name for my enemy. Thats cute and fun. I hope he dies soon. Team Yell grunts beat the shit out of me and Hop. I almost lost Aryu and Gagamaru both. Kaiser pulled his weight but I’m not gonna give him flowers about it.
Exit the mines. Close my eyes and run into the first tall grass field. Encounter a scraggy (pokemon I love dearly) im like yayayy!! Finally a nice thing for the specialest girl in the world! Acquired it. Named it Bachira. When he dies the run dies I don’t care. My special little guy. And thats what you missed on Glee.
#blue nuzlocke#forgot to say aryu evolved into the very glam roselia right before we went to face off with Nessa#very on brand of him

'jazz hands' hey you guys wanna hear about the rival's moms/parents? too bad cause i've already put them on discord so HERE WE GO- PokeParents part 2:Rivals!!!
Blue (& Leaf): see i can't decide between single mom or his dad is just off for work, cause like there's gotta be a reason Oak treats him tough love yaknow? Kris: another issue is that I also haven't played hgss which i will when im done with BW! so for now I'll just say her parents are average - i think i had a hc for a moment of her and Lyra being sisters or cousins but subjected to change.
Silver: it is Ariana. She got paid by Gio to make an heir - mafia type shit.
Wally: his mom passed when he was real young from illness, thats why his dad's so protective :[ (also subject to change as i have not played rse/oras lol)
Barry: ehhhh not like happily married but married still
Cheren & Bianca: lumping them together cause i think it's kinda known what they're parents like?? (as in they show up in game) everyone knows about the cabbage twink- Hugh: … can you guess? its america- Calem: So rival protag in XY is said to be known from a family of substantial trainers, so I'll say his mom was one, maybe not form the league but battle mansions/towers/what-have-you; mayhaps pa works in corporate side(?)
Shauna: Pretty average parents, tries their best to make a good life, dad i think might be from a dragon trainer family which is where Shauna gets it from, her mom puts more pressure on her than her dad (but they still both do it-) on Shauna to try and get her into tech/stem - to do something with her intellect rather than what Shan's really wants to do. Trevor: he does have canonical parents! who just. left him and his older sister by themselves in Kalos (i think it was for work but still man-) Tierno: a Mama's boy me think - a mom friend in turn
(we know about the white kids-) Hau: his mom luvs him very very much!💛 i think Hala has at least one line about his son so. he's there hsbyuvefvsd
Hop (HERE WE GO-): Grieving mother. Postwick bros lost their dad when Lee was like 8 or 9 so Hop was 3 or 4. I do like the hc that He was the royal scientist thus giving access to knowledge of the royal family, the wolves, and the D.D. - but he was definately at least well respected in the community. Mum doesn't like to look at Hop too much because he looks so much like his dad…
Marnie: honestly the only ways i can see it is either Piers got them out of a bad family or a single parent that passed when they were young (tho she was prolly 6 or 7, older than Hop to be aware)
Bede (ho boy-): so before recently it was just Orphan full send but i actually read his card and found out it was cause "his family ran into some trouble-", we never know what that is BUT- if his mom is/was around she loved him very much but just. couldn't take care of him…
the reason i haven't covered ScVi is both cause i should do a rehaul and also i feel like it's pretty known what's going on with their families? idk maybe ill make a part 3 in the future, hope yall enjoyed!
alright due to that one post about PokeParents im gonna share my headcanons that i have on discord - but these will be edited from that a lil so, lets go!! Part 1 - Pokemon Protags Red - Same as Ash in the anime (they are parallels of one another!), His Dad left when he was a baby to go be a trainer but just. disappeared. still sends the very occasional letter and money but Red's never met him and doesn't care too. Mama is about the same as Delia. Leaf - Same as Blue since I follow the hc they're siblings, so I'll cover her in the rivals post! Ethan - So! with my Chosen au/pokeverse, hgss is technically the third gen, so either Ethan's mom and him moved to Johto at the start of game while his dad still works in Hoenn, or his mom's just single. Lyra - I've been playing around with the idea that she's Professor Elm's daughter (since, i think he's got a daughter in canon?) but i found out through that other post that she as a rival is the granddaughter to the daycare couple! I'll cover Kris with the rivals Brendan - Norman's kid, just like the games, there is a mom in the games but I don't have much on her since I still haven't played these games! (I'll get to the once i figure out whateverthehell is going on with citra-) May - Prof. Birch's kid! same as Brendan, don't have much other than what is already well known, her parents are happily married (-unlike Brendan's-) Lucas - Actually I have his and Dawn's parents switched! So Lucas has the rival!Lucas' parents from in game (who i know the dad works with Prof. Rowan, mom i think is just at the home.) maybe his parents know Palmer? Dawn... & Selene! - Yep, in my personal verse; ChosenZVerse, I have Dawn and Selene as sisters! Dawn as the older, Selene as the younger. Their mom was the former contest performer, and their dad is a deadbeat, but considering bdsp maybe he was involved with galatic? at one point?? (where the hell did i get this??) Hilda... & Nate! - second verse same as the first - USA DIVORCE!!! 🦅🦅🦅🎆🎆🗽🗽🗽(there's no flag on windows???) Serena - I'm gonna stick with this headcanon so sprinkling in some spice - I think Grace (XY mom) had a one night stand and decided to keep the baby (this is. supposed to be a symbolism for life-)
Gloria - aka my OC Fiona; who is the only other one than May to have both stable parents; I do have the hc that her mom's Unovan tho, with her Dad being Galarian aaannd! Victor - aka my other OC Malik! who is the younger brother of Raihan; both parents are still together but are working around the world. Their Mom's a successful business woman while their dad is a dragon expert/conservationist. runs in the family!
that's it! I'll either reblog or just make a separate post for the rivals cause that's prolly be twice as long lmao
#pokemon#ChosenZVerse#pokemon hgss#pokemon oras#pokemon dppt#pokemon sun and moon#pokemon usum#pokemon xy#pokemon sword and shield#pokemon parents#pokemoms#pokedads#pokemon headcanons#headcanons#pokemon blue#pokemon leaf#pokemon kris#pokemon silver#pokemon wally#pokemon barry#pokemon cheren#pokemon bianca#pokemon hugh#pokemon calem#pokemon shauna#pokemon hau#pokemon hop#pokemon bede#pokemon marnie#did i get it all?
