Tag Game: First Spoken Lines

I will take advantage of @zmlorenz’s open tag because this looks like fun, so thank you for that!

Rules: Post the first spoken lines of the main characters of your WIP.

This may get a little long (and when I say long I mean long), but I’ll be using Puppet Kingdom’s second draft and all the ‘main’ characters introduced so far and in the order they’re introduced.

Althaia Nereil

“Kadison, how long until we reach the capital?” I ask her, mostly out of something to say than actual curiosity. 

Kadison Nereil 

Kadison sighs and gives me a pointed look. “Just like the last five times you asked, we should arrive this afternoon.”

Meira Nereil

“Bandits?” She gasps, looking half-startled, half-excited, and half-asleep.

Novalie (last name undetermined)

“You’re here!” Novalie’s unmistakable voice rings out, infected with happiness.

Kairos Shen

“We are both glad to hear it, then,” a new, unmistakably masculine voice says.

Marigold ‘Goldie’ Aguero

“-Rynold Section, there seem to be a few less of you posted outside, we need to make sure all parts of the castle are secured.” There was a short woman on the front with her hands on her hips.

Taisia Lagunov and Naida Kamenev

“Dame Emile! Dame Emile!” Two in-sync voices chirp behind us, one dry and refined, the other deep and slower.

Royal Sabourin

“If it isn’t my darling, favorite, quintessential courtier,” he grins, waving an arm and bowing deeply.

Cirillo Lacolle

“...What scampers around but makes no sound, is smooth and cold, chills your flesh to the bone and comes back when it goes away?” Someone muses to themself beside me.

Lilura Laviolette

“Did you get those over there, Z?” The older one asks, gesturing vaguely to the side.

Zerenity Shen

The little girl looks over her shoulder. “Yes, and the geraniums too, like you asked. Ooh, look at those white carnations! They’re Prince Remy’s favorites!”

Prince Dragomir ‘Remy’ XIV

Prince Remy perks up at his title before cocking his head to the side. “Goldie, who is this?”

High Lady Keeper Avyanna Binette

“Captain Aguero, please announce the accused to the court,” Avyanna says. Her voice is a contradiction; light but burdened, awake but weary.

Again, long, but thankfully, once all their introductions are out of the way, it’s smooth sailing. :)
