i'm dogsitting for my neighbor, and the dog has Had Enough Of Me coming over; she wants her parents back (i can't do anything about) so she's decided to be naughty.

:") everyone is nice to meeeee, thank you ❤️ I'm going to call Daphne he throughout this so don't get confused. I don't have bonus headcanons about him at the moment, I usually construct those for minor characters as I'm making a fic about them, but I'll talk broadly about my thoughts about him under the cut (it got long LOL).

I think Daphne gets to me in particular with gender, because:

a) Meet My Girlfriend by Transgenderism was the first time it really clicked in my head that you can just. Choose. To change your pronouns. If it makes you happy. And you can still be a lesbian. So he's linked in my mind with that revelation.

b) pulling some man out of a river and marrying him on the spot is PEAK compulsory (cis)heterosexuality. Like. Ah yes :) God has sent me a man to solve my problem and he doesn't know what Being A Man is so he's Safe plus 'this is normal heterosexual behaviour I'm pretty sure [it absolutely is not]'.

(Reading Adorned With Smoke For Clothes by lesbiansailor, where Daphne prays for salvation [from being a lesbian] and there stumbles upon "Emmanuel" and is like 'oh okay' really sank into my brain, that's definitely what happened.)

c) I've always loved 'teaching someone how to be human' but the sweet, sweet juice of "teaching someone how to be A Man when you are insecure and unhappy about your own gender role"? YUM YUM YUM. The act of finding yourself through the other!! That's how. To get a little introspective lol. That's how I tend to work through figuring stuff out about myself. There is someone in my life and I think to myself "ah they might be _. This explains me thinking about it so much." And then like 3-5 months later I'm like wait. I think I am _. Lol. So I can project that projection onto Daphne, but with bonus resentment because I love resentment it's so fun to write.

d) obviously him being partnered with Castiel, who I view as a secure trans man (he "became a father", he went from agender to man, he literally changed from a female vessel to a male one, many people in fandom have said this. He literally invented free will to choose to be a trans gay man ❤️*). Having someone SO sure that he's a man even when he lost ALL his memories and didn't even know how to use a toothbrush at first AND when he's doing manhood "wrong" and sensitively and queerly, to a transmasc Daphne that's got to feel like "he doesn't even care about what it means to be a man so I have to care about it for both of us and I still don't get to be one!!! I don't want to think about it!!!!"

e) the way prescriptive religion ties in with him, doubting his gender role means doubting God which means potentially upending his entire community and being so fucking lonely. We only see Daphne for like. 1 minute of screentime lmao so it is for the best that they didn't pile on more side characters but it gives the impression that he doesn't have any friends**, which makes me think about how Marge Simpson doesn't have any friends (highly recommend the Lola Sebastian video about Marge) which makes me think about (my) fear of becoming a housewife with no friends.

So, I think Daphne is afraid of being himself with the (justified!) fear of losing his present community, but in trying to avoid that, he can't get truly close to people and thus causes that lonliness anyway. A vicious cycle...

f) Daphne is a character firmly discarded by Supernatural - which is fine, I don't want every 3 second character to keep coming back or we'd have 100 Cole's and I couldn't stand 1 Cole - but finding love for minor characters in spn has become a particular fascination of mine ❤️ mostly due to the sapphicnatural community 🧡 With the meta context that minor characters are not only disregarded by the characters amd writers but disregarded by GOD, for a character like Daphne who throws himself so firmly into faith that he marries a man whom - I cannot stress enough - he found in a river, that dramatic irony is so delicious. He's putting his life in service of a guy who, if asked, might not even remember his name. JUICY.

And e and f together beg the question, if it doesn't make him less lonely and if God [who is also a misogynist just btw] doesn't care what he does. Why is he putting himself through the agony of the closest. If his life is so flimsy that he can marry a stranger like it's nothing, why can't he pursue a life that makes him HAPPY?

g) Johanna Marlowe's performance of Daphne....she [the actor] just looks so strangely afraid? Daphne had just been attacked, but even when he's safe and looking up at Emmanuel, there's something fearful there I think:

Like maybe that's just how her face looks, but there's also the way she decided to touch him glancingly, hesitant and fleeting. Look at her physicality choices in her one scene. If I were just attacked by a demon and my spouse came and untied me, I would probably, like, hug them and find reassurance in them? But Marlowe says no. I will touch his face as quickly as possible and then let him drag me around. They're not even holding hands!! He grabs her wrist and she makes a fist! I never noticed that before that's crazy. Anyway this may have been directorial just to get through the scene quickly, there's a lot to get through in the episode, but regardless of the practical reasons behind her performance, it is Text and it is Strange!

And finally. I realised I do actually have a small headcanon. I think Daphne's transmasc new name is one of three:

Emmanuel (he chose the name, he should get to keep it!); Samson (biblical, raised according to the instructions of angels, had his dark night of the soul from his beloved cutting his hair [PS I think Daphne grows out his hair through transition]); or he keeps Daphne. He can still be Daphne if he wants. You can do whatever you want forever!

I also think he keeps his faith in God. His logic is that he asked for salvation -> Emmanuel appeared -> Emmanuel's questioning of his life brought him to true understanding of himself, and this must be holy.

FE3H part 1 manages to thread the needle rather well on the difficult-to-reconcile dichotomy of "protagonist who is The Specialest Lil Guy" and "protagonist who is just some guy", imo.

Like, yes you're unusual in that you're a total rando in your twenties who just got made a professor at an elite institution, but that's implied to be Politics that has nothing to do with you; and amongst the crowd that you're amongst, you really do feel very ordinary. Obviously you're the least distinguished professor and also every student is like an earl or a prince or some shit. Hell, [SPOILERS] narratively I guess mine is The Best or something, but it was a pretty short span of time that I was the only one in my squad with a Hero's Relic.

The Simpsons Season 2: My thoughts

Still not quite the laugh riot we're used to yet but it's a step in the right direction. A lot of beloved characters and well known elements are introduced this season and it still has a lot of heart. This is when the show really begins. Characters and settings are more finalized and we even get the very first Treehouse of Horror, which has become a staple of the show from this point on (more on that later). Also, how can you not love Dancin' Homer?

All the segment are entertaining and great but my favourite one is "The Raven". Now I usually prefer comedy over horror but this segment plays it straight for the most part. The narration from the late great James Earl Jones is very good.

Does Chloe Valentine Have Friends was a fic I wrote inspired by that one Marge Simpson poem that I go sicko mode every time I think about. I remember I had posted it on anon at first because it was during a time where people were REALLY disliking Chloe besides a few people (if I remember correctly) and I was always anxious about posting my Chloe stuff at the time because I had been heavily critical of her too.

As for the actual contents I kind of thought about it because like. Does Chloe really think she fits in the friend group with everyone now or does she feel kind of like an outsider?

And I like the idea of her and Christine specifically getting to know each other better plus I think Christine and her being foils to each other is fun. Like they parallel each other and I had wanted to write something where they specifically became close

So you mentioned a while back that you thought the Simpsons Movie was bad why is that?

The movie went through a major development hell and it shows. The themes and characters and plot are all over the place. The movie initially feels like it’s going to have a heavy focus on Bart and Homers relationship what with Bart turning to Flanders to be a father figure, but that’s ultimately cast aside when the family leaves town. Then there’s Homer and Marge who break up in the second act but their relationship doesn’t have any tension that breaks meaning the scene comes out of nowhere, and I don’t think Homer and Lisa speak a word to each other the whole movie.

Homer is selfish but to a larger degree than usual to fit the scope of a movie. Fine. But they don’t make the resolution big enough to justify him near killing the town, nor do they make any of his reactions feel particularly on board for his character. In fact, none of the characters feel like themselves. I know we were firmly past the Simpsons best years for consistency by the time the film came out but everyone in the movie is so shallow and feels so off.

Marge is just kinda there to go “We GOTTA save Springfield!” Lisa has a thing for an Irish boy made solely for the movie so that’s all she gets to talk about despite that not being compelling, and again, they set up a really strong relationship deep dive with Bart and Homer in the beginning but drop it near immediately when the movie starts proper.

And speaking of starting proper, Jesus this movie has no idea where it wants to go. I am aware that a movie like this should be little more than joke fodder, but the Simpsons IS more grounded than its Family Guy surrealist counterparts. It doesn’t have to make grand sweeping statements about anything more than its characters and it doesn’t have to flit from joke to joke. The Simpsons can be slower and sweeter when relevant, and this was relevant. But no, instead we sprint through like 5 plot lines before settling on…vaguely gesturing to the EPA??? Who are the villains??? I’d say this is politically motivated but it’s so out of the left field and says so little I kinda can’t. And then it’s a road trip movie but the road trip takes up very little time and also there’s a B plot about the town trying to survive in the dome but not really and then the movie is about saving Springfield in the 3rd act and I just don’t care. We’ve had no set up in this movie for me to care because the movie expects to care based on Simpsons episodes from years past, but it’s also so not the Simpsons tv show that it feels weird to bank on that. The humor and storytelling style are wayyyyy different.

The movie notoriously went through a lot of ideas over several years, scrapping every single one until it got here. This was mostly because any good idea the team could drum up they had a hard time writing to movie length. But the initial idea always sounded more interesting and like you could do more with the characters. That being a Camp Krusty movie. It’s been a few years since I danced on this soap box so I don’t remember every detail but in general I would pitch an A plot very similar to Boy Scouts in the Hood but with the emotional through line of Bart and Homers relationship being more prevalent. Homer and Ned both become camp counselors at Camp Krusty and the kids are all going. Bart and Homer are butting heads as usual but without the buffer of Marge or the ability to get away from each other they’re reaching a boiling point. As such Bart starts to feel more comfortable and safer in the outdoors around Ned, who’s more openly kind and responsible. Focus the movie on Barts feelings (a nice nod back to how the show began by being centered around Bart) and how he feels like his own dad isn’t a good father to him but Ned doesn’t get him. Have the film end during a big 3rd act ‘act of god’ like a massive storm where Bart gets lost in the middle of the danger. Ned tries to look for him but Homer is ultimately the one who knows his son best and actually manages to find him and they both whether out the storm alone together. The two have a talk about Homer doing his best even if he messes it up a lot and Bart is trying to meet him where he is but doesn’t feel seen.

I’d even have a small through-line be Barts now seldom-seen sling shot. Ned confiscates the slingshot at the beginning of camp claiming it’s dangerous and could be used for pranking, but to make it up to him he teaches Bart how to use a real pocket Knife. The scene with Homer and Bart then culminates in Homer giving Bart back his slingshot saying he knows he’ll always cause trouble but it’s his and no one should be able to take away part of him. Besides, he’s a Simpson, he’ll cause trouble with anything he has. Maybe it’s engraved with ‘El Barto’ with the idea that Homer knows his son so well he knows he’s the one leaving graffiti all over town. And then Bart uses the slingshot to save them from some kind of danger and they get back safely, now understanding each other more.

Then the other plots can just be fun and silly. Rod and Todd being jealous of the attention Bart is getting from their dad, Lisa and Milhouse going on a friendly adventure in the woods that leads them to discover some incredible thing, back at Springfield Marge and Maggie are having a wacky adventure as a runner, etc.

But you now have a movie with one really distinct setting, that allows for the more segmented storytelling the movie goes for, and has a thematic through-line that makes sense of the show it’s for.

my first day on tumblr in what feels like a week and i come back to a question that makes me want to ramble like a madman for DAYS. you are so sweet for sending this to me (and im sorry if this ends up being an essay you were not asking for). fun fact: i have had to rewrite my answer to this ask no less than 3 times bc every time i started talking, id go on a tangent about pirates that was in no way relevant to your ask. apologies for taking so long, but yes! here we go! im putting it under a read more bc i cannot for the life of me shut the fuck up.

i do have a pirate au!! maybe one day it will eventually end up seeing the light of day, but as of right now it is sitting in my google docs next to a 95-page doc of all the sources and fun facts and tidbits that i find interesting about pirates. pirates are kinda my thing, idk if thats obvious or not. insert marge simpson i just think theyre neat meme here.

essentially, its pirate!antonio and venetian-not-quite-nobleman!lovino. im still playing around with that venetian part, but idk ill probably keep it, since it makes sense with lovino's family and all that. the entire premise of the story (and what sparked the idea in the first place, apart from me just thinking antonio would look sexy in a pirate captain fit) is that one scene in the strips where romano is reading a history book about how spain spent a ton of money on him when he himself was in rags. we all know spain canonically showered romano in wealth and money, even when he himself was wearing tatters. that idea sat with me for YEARS before i decided to do my own spin on it, culminating in the characters of pirate captain antonio with a grudge against the world and too much to prove seeing bastard lovino who lives in a family of nobles and cannot have any of it, even if he is loved and adored by his family, and who just doesn't????? understand him????? doesnt get why he chose to stay with that family for so long????? without leaving that world behind and being free and cutting himself loose????? he doesnt get the familial attachments and the sense of responsibility lovino has to his family, even if he cannot and will not inherit the title that comes with the vargas name.

antonio ends up raiding their merchant ship they were sailing on and kidnapping him for money or something idk im still playing around with that part, and lovino is just this absolute mystery to him, but ofc this is antonio who is bullheaded in his stubbornness, which i find to be enchanting and cute, and thus we slowly get into the love story of two people who were fucked over tremendously by their societies and their worlds and who just wanted and tbh deserved more, something different, a freedom they would never be able to have in their average life.

smash-cut to however long later and the entire basis of the story is lovino 'i am surrounded by status and wealth and prestige and will have none of it to my name' vargas being adored and cherished by antonio 'love me and i will give you the world, love me and i will give you everything' fernández carriedo. bc!! i!!! think!!! thats!!! neat!!!!

My unpopular opinion about this character: Not about Homer specifically,but I like aught's/2010's/2020's The Simpsons just as much as I like Classic The Simpsons.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: There was an episode saying how Homer was afraid of being a shit husband/parent and he often used Moe's and alcohol to escape from his duties and fears related to them,and the absences made those failures happen. Treehouse of Horror XXXII Season 33, Episode 2 | October 10, 2021

Welcome back to "the blog I refuse to proofread"

Opening: A parody Bambi with Bart as Bambi and Marge as Bambi's mother. This specifically spoofs the scene where Bambi's mother gets her head cut off with a chainsaw. In this version, Homer is a deer who gores the hunter, played by Mr. Burns. It's only edgy on it's surface level, but the satiric point is that Disney sometimes makes scary stuff for kids. It's a soft ribbing of their parent company at best.

Story #1: A parody of Parasite, which I never saw. This one's okay, but it's just not leftist enough! Rainier Wolfcastle is the rich guy's house. I really do think the Simpsons writers, who probably all own houses exactly like his, do sorta seem to have more of an interest in dunking on the working class. See, I wasn't even kidding when I said it wasn't leftist enough. YOU THOUGHT I WAS DOING IRONY, BUT I ACTUALLY FEEL THAT WAY AND BELIEVE THE STUFF I'M SAYING ABOUT THIS. AAAAUUUUUGHHHHH

Story #2: In the second story, Bart scares Lisa and Maggie with a spooky story on Halloween, causing them to interrupt Homer and Marge's love-making sessions. Homer sets his sights on the tree-house, and decides to chop down the tree in the backyard, citing it as the cause for his woes. Every year is the same thing, "three scary stories. The tree gets zapped by lightening and comes to life, pulling it's roots out of the ground and going on a rampage. It can somehow zap alive other trees, who form a posse against the humans. This one is dumb but fun visually, so I like it fine. And ya gotta respect the fact that it contains their least offensive trans joke yet, when Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors says he identifies as a tree, because he's a "transplant". Not the most incredible joke in the world, and it's maybe a little hubristic of the Simpsons writers to think they can pull off non-alienating trans jokes. But it's worth noting, I guess.

Story #2.5: OH! They did a short! Because of their weird-ass four-act structure where the third act is very very short. It was Vincent Price reading a rude story in the style of Edward Gorey. One of couplets is a recreation of Bart the Lover.

Story #3: "Dead Ringer" is a parody of The Ring, which I literally watched last Halloween for the first time. Good idea, Simpsons, to parody a thing I know about. Anyway, I found this one to be the weakest.

People say "The Last Exit to Springfield" is one of the greatest it's not its one of the worst why The Big Book of British Smiles we do not have those teeth. I know Americans need to have theirs cosmetically whitened. It makes no sense the book.

I'm starting to think that no book in the whole world makes sense. I look at those things and I'm just, like, "what is this". You know what I mean? This guy gets it.

I know fans and former fans like to trash the show and even think the show will last forever and ever and ever. But if you have some common sense the show will end if either Matt or a voice actor passes away. Everything comes to an end sometime.

I would not put it past the corporate entities that own the show to have bullied the cast into signing away artificial intelligence rights to their voices in the events of their deaths. It's just a hunch that I have. It was probably the only reason they were able to reach a deal in the last strike or whatever.

How dumb was Marge in the soap box racer episode agreeing with her sisters giving Homer the father test didn't she get it was probably to break them up.

Marge loves her family and is inherently trusting. These are good qualities, unless you live in a world where everyone around you has refused god's grace. She inherited a terrible world that is not suited for her. In other words... can you blame her?

The real reason on why Springfield Stem Academy was a failure was because the idea was from Marge Simpson and the episode had the name Lisa Simpson The Miseducation of Lisa Simpson. Both of them females.

Many in the community will argue that it is canon that "Man smart. Woman Smarter" as sung by Our Favourite Family, but many forget that was a Halloween episode, and thus not canon. Man Smart. Homer/Bart.

Homer a jerkass suppose he didn't know that the word was jackass? Also Homer has always been an ass when he was supposed to get Lisa a new saxophone reed. But went for a beer first. Then it caused the pony incident Lisa always wanted one but it was an incident with ponies being too expensive.

I'm sorry you went through so much, but I'm glad you found something like family guy to make you happy. I saw you got some hate from some people and it's really undeserved. You keep being you and I hope you'll find your entire family guy family soon.

PS. Do you have any tips on how start travelling to other dimensions like what you can do with Marge? (I forgot the word you use for it..) or is it something I should've been born with?

Thanks And I've just been reading a lot of Reality shifting material for years so it feels like second nature. I feel like a fool when i try to put it into words but basically I just try to get into The most marge or Lois State i can be in, I want to align myself with these Characters for example I will watch a full season of Simpsons or Family Guy before i Reality shift, But honestly that's what i do every day, So its not always for reality shifting, Which is what it's called by the way. No you dont have to be born with it Because these realities already exist all the time. I wish Caleb Could explain this like he would for me. You want to leave your current reality And travel to your desired. You really just want to connect with your Desired Reality and set an intention and Focus on it, Almost like meditation, but meditation does not always lead to shifting for all people. But dreaming or lucid dreaming isn't shifting by the way, Id say go on forums and watch youtube videos, But stay away from "shifttok" and any Tiktok Videos. There are also youtube Videos to help you shift But they don't work for me. If anyone else has advice Comment it.

King Size Homer

CHAPTER I:  I´LL BE A BIG FAT DYNAMO!

Homer Simpson was tired of going to work every day. He hated the long commute, the tedious office meetings, and the endless paperwork. He just wanted to stay home and spend more time with his family. Being a food lover, he enjoyed trying new restaurants, ordering in, and indulging in snacks while lounging on the couch.

One day, while he complained about his job to his wife Marge, she suggested he ask his boss if there was any way to move his job home. The problem was that Homer knew he wasn't important enough in the nuclear plant to be allowed to work from home. But then, he had a brilliant idea: what if he gained enough weight to become disabled and unable to work in the office? Then, he could ask Mr. Burns to let him work from home. Homer saw this as an opportunity to spend more time with his family and be more comfortable while working.

Marge had always been supportive of her already pudgy husband, so when Homer expressed a desire to work from home and spend more time with her and the kids, Marge knew that she had to do everything in her power to make it happen. Marge had always loved her husband, Homer, no matter what size he was; a size that had ballooned to his currently 300 pounds but she liked it a lot. "How would he look if he was 500 lbs?"- She wondered...

As Homer lay on the couch, watching TV and eating a huge slice of greasy cheese pizza, Marge couldn't help but admire him. She loved the way his belly spilled over his waistband and the way his thick arms and legs looked like they could crush anything in their path. She has always been into chubby men her whole life. Over the years, Homer's weight had fluctuated up and down, but Marge had always accepted him no matter what. She had never once made him feel ashamed of his size, and she had always encouraged him to be his best self. Despite the occasional teasing from their friends and family, Marge saw a man who was confident in his own skin, unafraid to be himself and indulge in what he loved. She saw a man who was willing to be vulnerable and open with her, no matter his size. As she sat down next to him, Marge placed a gentle hand on his belly and smiled. "You know, Homer, I think you're gonna look amazing and sexy with some extra pounds, right?" she said.

Homer's eyes lit up with appreciation and love for his wife. "Thanks, Marge. You always know how to make me feel good. It's gonna be a dream come true, honey.  I can -- nay I must -- eat everything I've always wanted.  Now come on, every second I'm out of bed I'm burning precious calories.  Now get grabbing!" he said, happily. Marge leaned in and kissed him, feeling his bloated body pressed against hers. She knew that their love was more than just physical, but that it included an acceptance and admiration for all aspects of each other.
