a book that i always recommend to everyone is the bone houses by emily lloyd-jones!! it Is a fantasy, but definitely more character driven and also a quick standalone! it's about a gravedigger and a mapmaker looking for a way to save the gravedigger's town from zombies, very inspired by welsh folklore and mythology! im 100% not a fan of zombie stuff but this was SO good and if i don't convince you to read it maybe i can convince someone else
