I HC that Terushima has dimples... making him even more precious and cute 😌 (and on his lower back too!!)
First of all, sorry for the really late reply. I just forgot that I have an ask box. Really not an apology, but thank you for being patient. 😓😓
BUT, YES😊😊
Terushima has dimples and he thinks it makes him look younger than he is. Plus his mother and the old aunts in his neighbourhood has always pinched his cheeks while saying he looked so cute.
So, he took the tongue ans ears pierced and got an undercut to counter that. It still doesn't keep him from smiling though, since he want to show off.
He kind of likes the dimples on his back, since once he got serious about volleyball- it made him look a little more muscular. It just doesn't bother him too much.
#i actually just took my 13. piercing this friday#i dont like tongue piercing tho#it looks fine but the dental problems that can follow isn't worth it#i wish i had dimples#its so cute#terushima#terushima yuuji#haikyuu#haikyuu!!#HQ#i know i suck at asnwering#but ask box is always open and i do get really happy and exited when i get into it

1 - When you wake up, do you get up straight away or do you lie around in bed for a while? It depends - on work days I get up when my alarm goes off, but at weekends I can easily lie there for 2-3 hours drinking coffee and messing about on my phone lol.
2 - Who was the last person you video-called with? Have you done this more often since COVID hit? My mum and yes, I suppose so. She’s the only person I ever really video call though.
3 - How many times a week do you go out for food or drink? We get takeaway every week or so on average, but we don’t tend to go for meals much anymore as prices have skyrocketed recently.
4 - Do you prefer getting takeaway or actually sitting in a restaurant and eating your meal there? It depends on my mood. Sometimes I love a relaxing meal out with friends/family but other days it’s nice to just have food delivered lol.
5 - Where’s your favourite place to get takeaway coffee (or whatever your drink of choice is)? Starbucks in general, but we don’t have one near here so our local coffee place by the beach is really good. It’s expensive though.
6 - Do you tend to keep your phone on silent, vibrate or loud? Silent at night, loud during the day or I’d never hear it at work.
7 - If you have pets, when was the last time one of them annoyed you? What happened? Archie earlier - we can’t break the habit of him barking for his meals and sometimes I wish he would just shut the hell up lol. I know it’s just excitement but he can be SO loud ha.
8 - When was the last time you went into a bookshop? Uh, about five months ago.
9 - What was the last thing you ordered off Amazon? A new dog-walking bag, some more candles for my wax burner and a replacement body spray as my current one is about to run out.
10 - When was the last time you took a dog out for a walk? Is this your own dog or did you borrow someone else’s? Friday - I walked my dog with a clients’ two dogs.
11 - What jewellery do you have on at the moment? My wedding and engagement rings, as well as all my piercing jewellery - seven earrings and a nose stud.
12 - Do you have any products in your hair right now? What are they? Nope.
13 - Have you ever used a VPN to access foreign content online? Yeah, a few times. Only the free ones though.
14 - Who was the last artist you listened to? Is this someone you’re a fan of? Reba McIntyre and yeah, I like the vast majority of her songs.
15 - What was the last thing you had to drink? Pepsi Max.
16 - When was the last time you cooked something for the first time? Did it work out the way it was supposed to? I don’t remember, I’m not really a big cook as it feels like a lot of effort for not a huge amount of reward.
17 - Black cats are considered to be bad luck - is this a superstition that you’ve ever believed in? Ha no. We have three black cats and they’re the best - black or ginger cats are my favourites. I love them.
18 - Would you ever eat blue cheese or do you find the idea of eating mould to be pretty repulsive? I love blue cheese - it’s one of my favourites.
19 - Do you visit the dentist every six months like you should? Normally I go once a year.
20 - How old were you when you first used the internet? Was it dial-up or did you have access to proper broadband? Uh, I was about 11 when we first got home internet - it was dial up and it was so, so painfully slow.
21 - Are you old enough to remember using floppy discs? Yeah, for sure.
22 - When was the last time you purchased an actual DVD or CD? I bought the Lord of the Rings extended edition DVD’s off eBay a couple of months ago. They were a bargain too.
23 - Do you shave? Which body parts and how often? Yeah, legs, pits and bits - generally everyday but less in winter sometimes.
24 - What’s your favourite season, and what are some of your favourite things about that season? Autumn - the changing colours, the frosty mornings and the cosy outfits.
25 - When was the last time you burned yourself? I can’t remember.
26 - Have you ever been the victim of a theft or robbery? What was stolen? Did the police ever catch the person who did it? Not personally, but my parents house was broken into once and the car stolen off their drive, as well as my mum’s handbag and her wallet. They found the car crashed into a wall after tracking the contactless payments made from the cards - the people involved were arrested and I think jailed.
27 - What was the last TV show you discovered that you really liked? What was it that got you to watch it in the first place? I can’t remember.
28 - Have you seen any of the live-action Disney remakes? Which one is your favourite? What about your least favourite? Yeah, I’ve seen all of them but I don’t think any of them were particularly great to be honest. I saw Peter Pan and Wendy on Friday and it was just a bit meh. Maleficent is probably the best and The Lion King is the worst.
29 - Do you have any exciting plans for tomorrow? If not, how are you planning to spend your day? I’m working tomorrow - I have a cat visit first thing, then three dog walks, then another cat visit in the evening. Otherwise I have no plans, just chilling at home I suppose.
30 - Would you ever keep a working dog as a pet? Do you think it’s fair to keep dogs like huskies in flats when it’s so different to their natural environments? I mean, we own a working breed (beagle) but he’s a show-strain and incredibly lazy. We didn’t walk him yesterday and all he did was sleep. I don’t think the home environment matters as much as how much exercise and stimulation you can give them. As long as dogs get enough exercise I don’t think they care whether they live in a flat or a mansion lol.

Depends. Is the cheater actually free to leave the relationship? If not, cheat away. Not my business.
55: Are you mean?
That's entirely subjective. I don't smile at customers when I'm off the clock. It's exhausting. I'm not scared to tell someone when they've messed up or when they're wrong and I can prove it. I'm capable of doing and saying mean things, but 95% of my entire life I've never actually acted on those ideas. If you think I'm mean, I'm probably just tired and need to shut myself away for 72 hours to recover.
56: How many people have you fist fought?
2
57: Do you believe in true love?
Depends on how it's defined. Destiny? No. The ability for two people to mutually love each other above anything else with all honesty and earnest? Yes.

Usually
60: Do you wanna get married?
When I figure out what marriage actually is I'll decide
61: Is it cute when a boy/girl calls you baby?
When a strong older woman does, yeah. My partner and I call each other love though
62: What makes you happy?
Too much to list here. Currently, and most continuously, art.
63: Would you change your name?
Yes. I want to. I'd probably keep my first name, but my middle and last mean less than nothing to me.
64: Would it be hard to kiss the last person you kissed?
No. I could grab his face and kiss him without warning and he'd smile.
65: Your best friend of the opposite sex likes you, what do you do?
Mind my business. They know what I'm about.
66: Do you have a friend of the opposite sex who you can act your complete self around?
Kinda? Maybe? They're accepting and wouldn't judge me, but that's not a real answer to the question. Maybe I'm the problem.
67: Who was the last person of the opposite sex you talked to?
My boyfriend. Before that, my landlady's doctor.
68: Who’s the last person you had a deep conversation with?
My coworker friend last night. I asked him if he was feeling okay, because he just graduated sober living and was texting me tipsy. He told me about his depression. I told him depression seemed like a reasonable state to be in given everything he'd been through.
69: Do you believe in soulmates?
No
70: Is there anyone you would die for?
I don't know. Would dying be the kindest thing I could do to a loved one in a given scenario?

behind closed doors
Anonymous said: hello! hope you're doing well <3 for the prompt game can i request doyoung misc 13 and maybe a detective au ^___^
pairing: kim doyoung x reader
genre: humor, slight angst and fluff at the end, detective au, assassin au
warnings: mentions of violence, interrogation
word count: 1,375
a/n: ngl i struggled with this one a bit bc i’ve never written or read a detective au before and i haven’t read many doyoung fics but after watching a lot of videos, i’d like to say i think i captured doyoung’s personality pretty decently? let me know what you think!
Your eyes wander around the room for the 17th time and as you’re inspecting the crack in the paint on the wall to your right again, you begin to wonder just how long they plan on leaving you alone—and what the hell it’s supposed to accomplish. Turning to the left, you direct your gaze a bit upwards in the one-way mirror, hoping that your guess is right and that you’re looking directly into the eyes of whoever is on the other side.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought I was put into the ‘interrogation room’,” you muse. “It’s been around an hour though and there has been no interrogation whatsoever. What’s the hold up? Is it because I asked for a hot detective? I’m sure those are hard to come by, everyone I saw on the way here is either too old or too boring-”
The door finally opens, causing you to shut your mouth, and you watch as the detective closes the door and takes the seat in front of you. He doesn’t look in your direction or even say a word to you, too busy setting up his papers in front of him and fixing his crooked tie. When he finally looks up, his piercing gaze is nothing short of breathtaking and your nails dig into the palm of your hand as you try to get a grip.
“Well hey there, handsome,” you greet him before biting your lower lip and winking at him. “What’s your name? You come here often?”
“Well, I work here,” he replies with a bored voice. “So I think I’d have to say ‘yes’. Everything we discuss from here on out will be recorded so please state your name and then we’ll begin.”
“(Y/L/N) (Y/N).”
“And where were you on the night of-”
“Are you not going to state your name?” you interrupt him, and you have to hold back a laugh when you hear him huff at your interruption. “I don’t think it’s fair that I have to say my name but you don’t have to say yours. I even asked you earlier, it’s a bit rude that you ignored my question.”
The detective looks directly into your eyes and you watch as his own flicker back and forth, as if searching for something. When he leans back in his chair after a few seconds, he looks satisfied, as if he found the answer to a question that only he knows. “Detective Kim Doyoung, at your service. Now where were you on the evening of October 12th at approximately 6:15pm?”
You lean back in your own chair as you pretend to think. You know exactly where you were on that night. Playing with the chain of the handcuffs attached to your wrist, you hum thoughtfully. “That was a Friday, right? I was probably still at the bar getting drunk after a long week of work. My co-workers and I like to go to happy hour and mingle with the other business-y type people. You know how the corporate world is. Networking is everything.”
Doyoung scribbles something in his notebook, too far away for you to see, and the expression on his face is unreadable, so you have absolutely no idea as to what he could be thinking. “I don’t, actually. Why don’t you enlighten me on the corporate world? Does it involve sniper rifles and rooftops?”
A shocked laugh escapes your mouth as an incredulous look appears on your face. “I don’t know what kind of movies you’ve been watching lately, detective, but the media always associates business with drugs and money. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of finance majors having side jobs as hitmen.”
And that’s how the interrogation continues, with Doyoung throwing question after question at you. Any rookie would be quivering in their seat after the second hour but by the fifth, all you’re starting to feel is hungry. You could continue dodging his questions for an entire week if you had to and you plan on stalling for as long as possible. All according to plan, you think to yourself as you give yet another snide remark. The detective looks exhausted at this point, and after witnessing him drink his fourth cup of coffee, you begin to count down the minutes until he calls this whole thing off. It’s just a matter of time.
“I’m going to the bathroom,” he mutters as he glares at you, gathering his papers and making sure he leaves nothing behind before leaving the room.
You wave at him as he exits, shooting him a smirk through the small window of the door as he looks back at you once before walking away. Leaning back in your chair, you turn your head to look at the one-way mirror once more and give whoever’s standing on the other side a wide smile. “Looks like Detective Pretty Boy’s getting a bit tired. You guys should swap him out for someone else, maybe then you’ll be able to get whatever information you think that I have for some reason. Don’t know what that could be since I work in the marketing department of an entertainment company but hey, maybe I’ll surprise both myself and you guys!”
A thud is heard from the other side of the glass and it takes everything in you to not laugh in glee. They’re getting frustrated. Fourteen hours and they haven’t managed to get anything out of you. What a bunch of amateurs.
Doyoung comes back in the room with two officers behind him, all of them looking stoic as they look down on you. “You’re free to go,” the detective announces through gritted teeth, watching as one of the police officers removes your handcuffs.
“Aw, and we were having so much fun,” you protest with a pout, your lower lip jutting out as the two officers escort you out. “Hopefully we can meet again soon, detective. We can put those handcuffs to a different kind of use.”
He almost spits out his coffee at your words, his neck turning red at your dirty suggestion, and you can’t help but laugh. You’ve always loved men in uniform. Always so easy to rile up.
“Honey, I’m home!” you announce as you walk into your apartment. The smell of food comes wafting in from the kitchen and you follow it to find your boyfriend cooking dinner.
“Took you long enough,” Doyoung says with a soft smile, presenting you with a plate full of food. “Eat up, I’m sure you’re hungry after that long interrogation session.”
You press a kiss to his cheek as you take the plate from him, and he follows behind you as you make your way to the dining table. When you sit down, all of the exhaustion associated with an 8 hour long interrogation finally hits you; every bone in your body feels like it’s aching and your stomach feels like it’s about to turn inside out from how hungry you are. “Good job with that, by the way, I think we really fooled them. Those acting lessons with Jaehyun really paid off!”
“We wouldn’t have had to fool them in the first place if someone hadn’t been careless,” Doyoung points out, fork pointed in your direction as he quirks an eyebrow at you. “You know the rules, (Y/N).”
A sigh leaves your lips as you set your own fork down. You think back to Friday night, and you wince at the memory of Sungchan almost getting himself killed in a moment of panic. You had saved him and the mission but it had caused you to break the #1 rule: leave no trace behind. “I had no choice, Doyoung,” you mumble, unable to even look him in the eye. “I couldn’t just let him die. He’s my little brother.”
He reaches a hand across the table and places it on top of yours. “I know.”
When you look up, Doyoung’s eyes hold nothing but sympathy in them. Even experienced assassins still have feelings, although only behind closed doors. He squeezes your hand in comfort and you squeeze back, and the two of you continue eating dinner in silence with your hands still held together.

Part 1 Here Part 2 Here
It’s well past last call when you leave.
You ended up staying until past closing and, perhaps out of a feeling of guilt, the mustachioed bartender decided not to kick you out.
Because his “feeling” had been wrong.
Chuuya hadn’t come.
The bartender had offered to call you a cab but you adamantly refused. You wanted a nice long walk in the cool night air, which would hopefully clear your senses a little. You don’t want to go to bed tonight thinking about Chuuya or you might just wake up crying.
Because this was the last night.
No more.
You needed to move on.
As you leave the bar, you see a group of men, a bunch of hoodlums by the look of it, gathered near the alleyway to your far right. One or two of them give you an appraising look (you wish your skirt were longer but you make no move to tug it down) and to your disgust, another whispers something into the ear of yet another of their companions, who suddenly leers at you.
Ugh.
You keep your eyes trained on the road ahead of you as you walk past them, hoping to get away with nothing more than a wolf whistle but alas, it is not to be. One of them, a man with a scar over his eye, calls out to you.
“Hey, hey you! Lady!”
You roll your eyes and ignore him. You hated running into creeps like this in the daytime as it was. Nighttime is so much worse.
Not to be deterred, he runs after you and stops and slows once he’s caught up.
“Haven’t we seen you before?” he asks, looking you up and down. You suddenly regret wearing heels. You don’t answer but he acts as if you have.
“Yeah, I remember you. You’re here at that bar every Friday, aren’t you? Always sitting there at the counter with that short fellow, the one with the fancy hat and the jacket draped over his shoulders. Chuuya-san, you called him, right?”
You keep walking and scowl when Chuuya’s name crosses his lips. Scum like this shouldn’t have the right to talk about Chuuya like that, much less exist in the same world as him. And how dare this man call Chuuya short when he wasn’t more than a few centimeters taller than either of you.
“Hey, Missy.”
He grabs your shoulder. His tone is suddenly menacing.
“I’m talking to you here.”
“Let go of me!” you snap, tearing your shoulder away.
You turn to walk in the opposite direction but his companions are blocking the way back. In fact, they’re blocking every possible escape route you have. You spin around in a circle, only to come face to face with the man who insists on speaking with you. He smiles and you curse.
“Shit...”
He raises his scarred eyebrow. He looks amused.
“There’s no need for language like that, Missy,” he says, his tone every bit as patronizing as it is threatening. “We just want to talk to you. You see, we’re looking for ‘Chuuya-san.’ Been looking for him, in fact, for a long, long time now and we’re hoping that you can maybe help us find him. You see, we owe him a favor...”
“Well, you’re talking to the wrong person,” you spit acidly, “I haven’t seen him for several months now and even if I wanted to help you find him--which I don’t--”
You voice cracks and you swallow heavily. You hate that you’ve become so upset but that’s what the mere mention of Chuuya’s name did to you tonight. You were really hoping the bartender was right and you were absolutely crushed when he wasn’t.
“I don’t even have his phone number.”
You throw your hands up into the air, as if to indicate that you’d given up.
“So why don’t you just let me go home and we’ll forget that this whole conversation ever happened?”
The man looks at you. Stunned. Then he starts laughing.
As one, his crew starts laughing at you as well and you feel your cheeks flush in sudden rage and embarrassment.
“Look at that, she just ordered me around, didn’t she?” the man chortles, turning to his companions as if he’d just told a very funny joke. “A real spitfire, aren’t you? And a looker to boot! No wonder he spends so much time with you.”
He snaps his fingers and at once, two of his men come forward and seize you by the arms. You try to fight them off but their arms are twice as thick as yours and you’re still a little tipsy from the wine.
“Why don’t you come with us, little Missy? We’d like to have a chat with you.”
“Hey!” you snap, “Get your hands off me!”
“See, your friend, Chuuya-san,” the man says, a note of humor sneaking into his voice as he copies the way you say Chuuya’s name. “He and that pesky Port Mafia he works for... have been making things difficult for us smaller gangs in Yokohama.”
His eyes narrow.
“Unnecessarily so.”
They start dragging you away. Your efforts to fight back seem meaningless. Panic rises in your throat. You should’ve taken the bartender’s offer of hailing a cab.
“Hey! Hey!!”
You struggle and fight harder but it’s no use.
“And our boss gets the feeling they’re going to be a lot more willing to negotiate with us,” the man continues, following you as you’re pulled backwards by the arms. “If we have a proper bargaining chip.”
His lip curls into that disgusting leer.
“Especially that midget. Can’t wait to see his face after he sees you missing a few fingers.”
You stiffen. Your eyes narrow.
“You asshole...” you growl.
You shoot him a piercing glare.
How dare he talk about Chuuya--your Chuuya--like that.
“Keep Chuuya’s name out of your fucking mouth,” you spit, “you piece of shit--”
He silences you with a slap across the face and you stumble. The men behind you keep holding you up. Your cheek stings.
“Stupid bitch.”
He laughs and the men laugh with him.
“We’ll see how brave you are after we cut you up.”
As you continue to struggle, they drag you into the alley.
Tears of helpless rage fill your eyes. This was stupid. You were stupid. You should’ve just stayed away like your coworker said.
Now these assholes were going to take you away, do who-knew-what to you, and because of your own foolishness, you would never get to see Chuuya again.
You bite your lip.
Chuuya...
You’re trying not to cry.
Help me...
Just then, a harsh voice cuts through the night. It’s quiet but it rings with authority.
And barely suppressed rage.
“Let go of her.”
You stop struggling immediately. You’d know that voice anywhere.
As one, you and the men gripping you by the arms turn to look down the alleyway, where you see a lone figure standing there at the very end of the street. He is a black shape outlined against the backdrop of the downtown streets, his dark clothes bathed in the harsh blue and red glow of signs made of neon lights. His face is in shadow, but...
The lone figure wears a fancy black hat and a jacket draped over both shoulders.
Chuuya.
“Chuuya-san...!”
Your breath hitches in your throat.
You want to say more. You want to call out to him, loud enough for him to actually hear but for some reason you cannot. Something’s wrong with him tonight. His very presence is unnerving and without knowing why, you begin to tremble.
“Well, look who’s here,” the man with the scar crows.
He takes a knife out of his pocket.
“Nakahara Chuuya. We’ve been looking for you. Come with us. Our boss needs to have a little talk with you. And if you don’t...”
He holds the knife at your throat. You hold your breath as it presses against your flesh.
“The Missy here gets it.”
Chuuya steps forward and out of the shadows and at once, you know why you’re suddenly afraid. You feel the men holding your arms falter.
There’s an odd red glow around Chuuya, around his entire outline. As he steps forward, his long black jacket begins to lift off his shoulders in an unseen wind, billowing around him like a cape. You think you hear something like a dull roar echoing throughout the alleyway and when Chuuya looks up, his gaze is fierce. His eyes burn like twin blue flames in the night.
This isn’t the same Chuuya who’d flirted with you at the bar.
This man is something else.
He continues towards you.
“Didn’t you hear me?” Chuuya snarls, his teeth bared.
When his foot hits the pavement, it cracks underfoot. Rubble rises into the air all around him, glowing red like the aura around Chuuya’s body.
“Get.”
Another step forward. The pavement breaks yet again. It’s as if Chuuya’s weight has increased threefold when he took that second step towards you.
“Your.”
The roaring sound grows louder. More rubble rises into the air.
“Filthy.”
Chuuya’s footsteps grow heavier. He’s now leaving craters in his wake. You don’t understand how it’s happening but the rubble is now orbiting around his body like the rings of a planet.
“Hands.”
The men loosen their hold on you but they haven’t let go. Chuuya sees this and his eyes seem to glow more fiercely in the dark. He looks utterly terrifying.
“Off.”
Chuuya grabs a handful of the rubble around him and draws his hand back. He steps into a pool of dim red light and his body looks like it’s bathed in blood.
“My woman.”
He takes out a stone, flips it into the air like a coin and flicks it with his thumb.
You don’t even see it move.
There’s just a brief whistling sound and a crack.
The arm of the scarred man--the arm holding a knife to your throat--explodes in a shower of blood. Some of it splatters the front of your dress. You’re so shocked, you don’t even scream.
The man next to you, however, does.
He lets out a howl of pain, clutching his ruined arm and dropping to the his knees, his knife clattering uselessly to the ground in front of you. He’s crying and screaming about his arm, blood gushing from the stump of his elbow and into the street. The puddle inches towards your shoes.
The men holding you drop your arms and tear off into the night--the entire crew goes running back towards the street, leaving you in the middle of the alleyway between them and Chuuya.
Chuuya’s bright blue eyes narrow and he repeats his earlier movement, flicking several more stones towards the men in the alleyway with deadly precision. One by one, the men drop to the ground, their screams cut short. The last one is quicker on his feet than his companions and is just about to round the corner when Chuuya crouches down and leaps into the air.
You watch in awe, turning to follow his movements as he soars over you, gracefully arcing through the sky, his body suddenly as light as a feather. The stones follow him, continuing to orbit around him in a ring like a miniature belt of asteroids. With one flick of his wrist, several rocket towards the man who’s almost made it into the street. You turn your face away as you hear the dull, wet squelching of the stones tearing through his body, splattering his organs on the nearby buildings and sidewalk.
The man next to you is still crying and clutching his arm. He rushes past you, desperate to escape.
You can’t see Chuuya, but you know where he is.
You start towards his location but within moments, he’s in the sky again. You whirl around to see him several paces behind you, standing before the man whose arm he destroyed.
He grabs the man by the throat and slams him against the wall. Cracks appear in the drywall behind his body. Miraculously, he doesn’t pass out.
“You tell your boss,” Chuuya hisses, his tone low and menacing, “that if you try this shit again, I’ll send what’s left of his cronies back to him in a fucking bento box.”
He slams the man against the wall again.
“If you’ve got business with me or with the Port Mafia, then it stays with us. You got that?”
The man nods, tears streaming down his face.
Chuuya lets go of him at last and he crumples to the ground in a heap.
Scowling, Chuuya turns to you at last, the glow in his blue eyes suddenly fading as the red-tinted aura around him dissipates. Behind him, the scarred man scrambles to his feet and scampers off into the night.
“Chuuya--” you start but he is in no mood to let you finish.
“You,” Chuuya growls, stalking forward. “What were you doing out here so late at night? Are you an idiot? Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
You’re stunned. After all this time, he’s angry?
“I came looking for you,” you protest, equally bewildered and hurt by the sheer anger in his voice. “I haven’t seen you in so long and--and you never gave me a single way to find you--Chuuya, I--”
“Why would you do that?!” he roars, slamming his fist against the wall.
No crater appears, but the drywall cracks.
Chuuya grits his teeth. He seems to have difficulty looking at you. He drops his gaze and the brim of his hat falls over his eyes, obscuring his face. Bits of drywall crumble down around his gloved hand. His fist is shaking.
“Why would you try to find me?” he asks, his voice hushed.
He’s asking you this? Why is he asking you this?
“Because...”
Your hands clench into fists when Chuuya does not not look up.
Fuck.
You bite your lip, hard, so that you don’t cry.
After all this time, he won’t even look at you? After everything you’ve been through? After all this??
“You really don’t get it?” you ask quietly, holding back those hot, bitter tears.
Chuuya doesn’t answer. Still doesn’t look up.
Why won’t he look at you?
It makes you angry. Angrier than you’ve been in years. You want to scream.
“You want to know why I came looking for you?” you ask bitterly.
Chuuya inclines his head slightly, which you take to be a nod. Pissed, you take a step towards him.
“It’s because I missed you, you fucking dumbass!”
Chuuya twitches violently.
He looks up, a mixture of shock and wonder clearly visible in the depths of his deep blue eyes. He looks mesmerized by you.
He’s not moving so you take another step towards him, suddenly feeling like you’re approaching a skittish alley cat. You hold out your hands when you speak.
“Don’t you understand, Chuuya-san? I wanted to see you. I wanted to see you so bad.”
You don’t care that he just maimed or even killed several people in front of you, that he has power beyond imagining and could turn his Gift on you if he so wished. He killed those men to save you.
To you, he was still Chuuya-san.
He was your Chuuya.
“I came looking for you... because you never even said goodbye. I didn’t have your phone number, or address. I don’t even know where you work or what your last name is. Chuuya, I had no way of contacting you.”
“That was the whole point,” Chuuya interrupts but you talk over him.
“So when I heard you might be here tonight,” you say, loud enough that he has to stop talking. “I had to come. I had to, you understand?”
Chuuya falls silent. His expression is contemplative, with an undercurrent of pain. His deep blue eyes are fully focused on you.
It was the same face he made the night he left the bar all those months ago.
“Chuuya-san...”
You swallow, ready to ask the question you’re afraid to hear the answer to.
“Didn’t you want to see me, too?”
But Chuuya doesn’t answer. Hot pinpricks sting your eyes. Shit. You’re going to cry.
“I see,” you say stiffly.
You gather your jacket more tightly about your body, preparing to leave.
“Sorry to have bothered you.”
You’re about to turn around and go when you see Chuuya’s fist tightening. With a start, you see his jaw tensing up. He’s gritting his teeth too. But he still doesn’t speak. You sigh.
“Goodbye,” you whisper. “Chuuya--”
“Wait.”
Chuuya rushes forward and before you can finish speaking, he’s gathered you in his arms in a fierce hug. His grip on you is so tight that you can hardly breathe.
“I did,” he whispers.
His voice is so small you can barely hear it.
“I wanted to see you too.”
“Chuuya-san...”
“The barkeep told me everything,” he growls. “He told me that you’ve been coming here almost every Friday night at our usual time. That you’ve been looking for me.”
He rests his chin on your shoulder and you reach up to comfort him. You gently pat his back.
“And waiting.”
“Chuuya-san.”
You swallow thickly.
“Tell me the truth. Why didn’t you want me looking for you? Are you...?”
You feel his arms around you tensing. He knows what you’re about to ask.
“Are you really with the Port Mafia?”
For a long, heavy moment, Chuuya doesn’t answer. But when he does, his voice sounds slightly hoarse.
“I am.”
As he speaks, you can feel his grip around you tightening, his arms wrapping more securely around your shoulders and waist, as if letting go of you would mean letting go of you for good.
“Chuuya-san...”
Your fingers slowly curl into fists against his chest and the expensive fabric of his jacket wrinkles beneath your touch.
“My full name is Nakahara Chuuya,” he whispers against your hair. “And I’m not just any member of the Port Mafia. I’m one of the executives.”
Involuntarily, you stiffen and the instant he feels your fingers twitch against his chest, Chuuya groans.
“I knew this would happen. I knew it would. Fuck.”
His arms loosen and unfold from around you. He’s pulling away.
But before he can, you reach out.
“Wait, Chuuya! Don’t go!”
You grab fistfuls of his jacket and pull on it to stop him from leaving. You bury your face in his shoulder and he stops short. You feel his sharp intake of breath.
“Please,” you whisper. “Don’t leave again.”
“H-hey...”
Chuuya’s voice is flustered and unsteady. But he doesn’t move away.
“I kept thinking about it, you know...” you mumble, closing your eyes as you feel Chuuya’s black-gloved hand smoothing down your hair.
“About the way you look when you’re sitting there at the bar with me. The way you laugh when we talk. The way you look at me when we’re together. You were wonderful. Chuuya-san... You’re not a bad person, I know you’re not.”
“But I’m not a good guy,” Chuuya insists.
He drops his hand. Now he’s just standing there as you continue to cling to him. You lift your head and look right into his eyes, which widen in sudden surprise.
“I don’t care whether Chuuya-san is a good guy or a bad guy!” you exclaim. “All I know is... I’ve never seen anything as beautiful as your smile.”
Chuuya stiffens. You can barely feel him breathing.
“You...” he starts, and the emotion in his voice is enough to bring tears to your eyes. “You really think that?”
You nod vigorously.
“Yes. Yes, I do. I think about you all the time... Chuuya.”
I care about you...
He wraps his arms around you and, wordlessly, you do the same. For a moment, you just stand there together, locked in a silent embrace in the middle of this dark, bloodstained alleyway. You nestle your face against the crook of his neck, breathing him in. He smells like the subtle musk and spice of an expensive cologne, like roses and gun smoke and something more, something uniquely Chuuya...
Finally he speaks.
“I can’t leave the Port Mafia, you know,” he says in an undertone, his fingers stroking through your hair.
“I know.”
In response, you hold him tighter. There’s a subtle wrenching in your gut, but you won’t let go.
“I’m not asking you to. It’s fine.”
“This isn’t going to be the last time this happens,” Chuuya protests, “You could get hurt.”
“I said it’s okay,” you insist. “Just...”
You swallow with some difficulty. You know what you’re asking and you know how selfish it is... but you can’t let go of him.
“Just let me stay by your side.”
You press yourself further into him. His body is warm, still humming with some kind of energy, but beneath that well-fitted vest, you can feel his heart beating against yours.
“Please.”
Time passes. You stay like this for what feels like hours but you aren’t willing to let go. Neither, it seems, is Chuuya. Finally, he sighs.
“I knew you were special from the moment I laid eyes on you,” he says, a hint of a chuckle in his voice. You can feel the low rumble of his silent laughter travel through his compact frame and despite your worry, you feel better.
“I just didn’t realize,” Chuuya murmurs, “that ‘special’ meant ‘crazy.’“
“If I’m crazy,” you laugh, “then it’s only because I’ve gone crazy for you.”
The words are out of your mouth before you even realize what you’ve said and upon hearing you, Chuuya lets out a bark of a laugh.
“You,” he cackles, “you really are something, you know that?”
His laughter fading, Chuuya loosens his hold on you. He lets you pull back just enough so that he can see your face but not enough that you can move out of his arms--not that you want to. Even in the dim lighting in this dingy alleyway, Chuuya looks so beautiful up close. His deep blue eyes gleam brightly as they stare into yours and without thinking about it, you lean in and press a quick kiss to his lips.
And then Chuuya smiles. Really smiles.
His grin is toothy and somewhat lopsided with obvious delight, and yet, his expression still doesn’t lose any of that cool, self-assured energy you’ve come to associate with Chuuya and only Chuuya.
You smile back. Your body grows warm.
Yes. This is the smile you wanted to see. The smile you’d missed so much for the last few months that it nearly killed you to think that you might not see it again. But right now, Chuuya’s smile is different. Good different.
You don’t think you’ve ever seen him looking quite so happy before.
“Chuuya...”
Wordlessly, you wrap your arms around his shoulders as one of his hands slides down to your waist. Chuuya places two black-gloved fingers beneath your chin and tilts your face towards his.
“Makes sense that you would be something special,” he whispers, his breath warm against your lips. “You are mine, after all.”
You close your eyes and the distance between you disappears. Chuuya’s lips are soft and sweet as they move against yours and you feel your breath hitch in your throat as his tongue ghosts over your upper lip. He feels so good and you cling to him as he deepens the kiss, pressing your body to his so tightly, you half wonder if you might be crushed by his strength.
But you like it.
You like the feel of his arms around your body, the way he grips you so tightly that his fingers dimple your flesh, the way he tastes--no wine could ever be as intoxicating as the man called Nakahara Chuuya...
When you come up for air at last, you’re both breathless.
”Wow,” Chuuya breathes, sounding just as dazed as you feel, “You’re... You’re a really good kisser...”
“So are you,” is all you manage to gasp before he dives back in for more.
As the moon rises high in the sky above you, you part at last, flushed and giddy and dizzy with joy. Chuuya takes your hand and leads you out of the alleyway, back to the bar you thought was closed.
He raps on the door with one black-gloved hand, the other tightly gripping yours, and turns back to shoot you that signature cocky grin when that same mustachioed bartender opens the door at last.
“I think it’s time we call you that cab,” Chuuya laughs as he pulls you inside the warmth of the empty room. “But I’ll meet you here again tomorrow, okay? Same time as usual.”
You nod. You’re smiling so hard it almost hurts but you’re just so happy...!
“It’s a date,” you say, to which Chuuya’s grin grows only wider. “So don’t go blowing me off this time.”
Laughing, he tugs you back towards him and presses another kiss to your lips, his grin returning as soon as he pulls away. His blue eyes shine like a bright, cloudless sky.
“Don’t worry,” he whispers, holding you close. “I’m not going anywhere.”

PTC : part ii
Pairing: Marcus Moreno x Fem!Reader
[ gif by @pascalsky ]
Word Count: 1,563
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: unintentional body piercing play
A/N: The response to the first part of this story was so overwhelming and we can’t thank you enough! @the-purity-pen and I are having so much fun writing this! Let me know if you’d like to be tagged on the next one! THANK YOU! Also, you can read Part One here!
It was Friday afternoon and you found yourself at the local grocery store. Often you went daily to pick up the few things you needed each night for dinner, but on Fridays you liked to shop for the whole weekend. That way you had time for any home projects and grading that you had to do. The problem was you weren’t quite sure what you were in the mood for which led to you wandering the aisles, picking things up here and there.
You had just turned into the aisle with canned fruits and vegetables and were considering getting some canned peaches to make a cobbler when you heard a familiar voice call your last name, “Hello, how are you?”
You turned to see Marcus Moreno walking toward you. You couldn’t help but smile, seeing him wearing jeans and a tee-shirt, “Did you play hooky from work today? Your secret’s safe with me, if you did.” Then tentatively you added, “And, if I’m supposed to call you Marcus, you should call me by my first name.” You gave him your name and a slight smile. You couldn’t help but notice how well his jeans fit him, not to mention how the t-shirt lovingly clung to his upper body. You suddenly became very interested in the label on a can of pineapple.
Marcus repeated your name softly as if committing it to memory. The way it rolled off his tongue made your heart skip a beat but you were busy occupying yourself with the can of pineapple. “No, no hooky today,” he laughed and the sound was so pleasant. It was different from the nervous man that had sat across from you to discuss his daughter.
Maybe it was the change of scenery or the fact that neither of you needed to be “on” while grocery shopping. “Missy is having a sleepover this weekend so I gotta stock up on some junk food,” he told you and shook his head. Somewhere deep in his mind he was mentally cursing himself for allowing a sleepover of five preteen girls to happen in his house. That definitely would have been better territory for his wife.
But Missy was making friends and that’s what mattered to him. He knew she felt left out of so many things whether it was because she didn’t have her own powers or because of being the leader of the Heroics’ kid. So her having friends that wanted to sleep over was a big deal. You were glad to hear that Missy was having a sleepover. You remembered going to a few when you were her age. You never hosted, but not because you didn’t want to, but because your parents wouldn’t allow it. Looking back their reasoning made sense, but at the time it had just felt like another punishment for being different.
You looked up from the pineapple label and smiled sympathetically, “You have my sympathies. What do you have planned for activities?” Keeping a group of pre-teen kids from getting bored, even in each others’ company would be important. When they got bored, they got creative. And that was when bad things happened. “I can give you some ideas if you want. I was a pre-teen girl once.” You bit your lip and looked away, slightly embarrassed at the fairly obvious statement.
His eyes scanned the aisle a bit, feeling like the conversation was going a bit stale. “Fruit in a can or fresh fruit? What’s your preference?” he asked as he leaned forward to grab a can of apple pie filling that was right next to you. As he leaned over, his voice was soft and velvety in your ear.
You glanced at the can in his hand, “For pie? Depends. Have you made pie before?” You didn’t want to make any assumptions. Just because he was a man didn’t mean he wasn’t skilled in the kitchen. You pictured him standing at the counter, mixing up some delicious concoction, biceps moving as he stirred, and your mouth watered at the image. Your cheeks burned instantly.
“Yeah but,” he paused to read over the can, trying to ignore his desire to look you over. “It’s been a few years. I’m not much of a cook,” he mumbled with a nervous chuckle before turning to put the can in his cart. He turned back and moved closer to you and you felt a spark of desire run down your spine. You swallowed hard as he reached around you again, quietly apologizing for the intrusion.
But his eyes on you made him miss which can he was aiming for. His hand swept at the empty spot on the shelf and ended up knocking off three other cans in rapid succession. “Shit!” he cursed under his breath as his hand reached out, his powers manifesting to stop the metallic can from falling.
You sucked your lip between your teeth fighting the urge to gasp or making any sounds revealing the pleasure his power had just elicited in you. Not only had his magnetic ability affected the cans on the shelf but it had pulled at the nipple piercings concealed beneath your shirt as well as the silver barbell that decorated your clitoris. Your nostrils flared with the effort to suppress the moan that nearly escaped your lips.
Marcus looked at you questioningly at your obvious stress, but you merely smiled in return, your eyes blazing with unanticipated need. When you finally found your voice, it was higher than normal, “Something tells me you know your way around. A kitchen, I mean.” Your face bloomed with heat and you finally had to turn completely away. You leaned into your cart, faking the need to rearrange the items in your cart.
Holding the caught can in his hand, he watched as you turned around towards your cart. He took a moment to straighten up at your words. “Uh, yeah a bit,” he said as he turned and put the can he had caught but not really wanted back onto the shelf. “My wife she, uh, she did most of the cooking and I know Missy misses it so I thought maybe a little cooking activity for the sleepover could be fun,” he rambled. When you didn’t turn around right away, he furrowed his brows and moved closer to you. “You okay?”
Your breast and clit still tingled from the stimulation they’d just received. But, of course, you couldn’t tell Marcus Moreno that. Taking a moment, you breathed in slowly through your nose then exhaled through your mouth. Finally you turned to face him, a smile on your face, “Oh yes, I’m fine.” After a moment of thought, your eyes brightened, “You could have them make their own personal pizzas!” Now that you were face to face again, you were reminded of just how handsome he was.
Marcus was eyeing you, trying to figure out what had you so flustered. He cleared his throat and nodded at your admission of being fine. He figured he’d have to take it for what it was. But the way you brightened actually took him by surprise. You were standing a lot closer than he realized and for a moment his breath was taken away.
His brain fog finally cleared and he nodded slowly. “Personal pizzas? You think they’d like that?” he questioned and you were more than happy to give a strong nod of an answer, trying anything to quelch the burning deep in the pit of your stomach.
Unfortunately, you couldn’t stop yourself from thinking, again, about the brief moment of pleasure he’d given you. Your mind ran with the thoughts of what other things he might be able to do. Distractedly, you grabbed a couple cans from the shelf and placed them in your cart causing Marcus to smile. You glanced down at what you’ve just dropped in there and cringe “I bet you thought people only used mincemeat at the Holidays."
You looked at him, feeling like he could see right through you. After all, you were acting bizarre. He gave a small forced smile, trying to hide how confused he was at this interaction but laughed off your comment anyways. “It’s delicious,” he commented as he watched you. “Do you, uh,” his hand came to rub furiously at the back of his neck.
“Do you have any free time this afternoon? To, uh, I don’t know, help me find a recipe that would be easy for them?” his head dropped down as he asked but he pulled his hand from his neck and looked up at you with earnest puppy dog eyes. He figured since you were a teacher, you’d know what would be easy for their age group to follow as far as instructions.
Your eyes widened momentarily in surprise, but then you smiled, “Uhhh … I think so … I mean, yeah, I can clear my schedule.” You didn’t want to seem too eager to spend time with him. He was still Missy’s father. But, he was asking for help. There wasn’t any need to read too much into it. You arranged a time to show up at his place and tried not to stare as he walked away. Once he was clear of the aisle, you reached into the cart and put the disgusting can of fruit back on its shelf.

Vernon almost jumped out of his seat when his phone buzzed.
And while he managed to keep his butt firmly planted, he did accidentally swipe half the stuff off his table, phone included. Granted, he should have been paying more attention—usually, he’d be alert and ready for the pestering texts about the day’s homework, but today he had been too tired to keep his eyes open for long.
He wiped the drool gathered at one corner of his mouth and swiped his phone up off the ground, his fingers going on autopilot as they entered the passcode and clicked open the messenger app.
LUCE:
page 25
wtf is a fitting reaction
nvm it’s fittig
VERNON:
reminds of the time you found a milf in the history textbook
LUCE:
the past is in the past
let it gooo
anyway send me the answers to q 11 through 13 and i’ll buy u whatever u want from larry’s on friday
Vernon snorted a laugh, then clicked off without answering. Bold of her to assume I don’t already have someone else to pay for my order. Somehow, though, the text from her had been almost relieving. After all the new changes, he had almost expected her not to text him. It was stupid, he knew, but he couldn’t help being a little apprehensive about the new superhero stuff taking over his regular routine.
He glanced back at the ground, where an old notebook with plans for web shooter mods lay open on the ground, loose pages spilling out. It was already dark out, but the streetlights hadn’t been switched on yet—a good time to sneak out in his suit without being seen; he didn’t want Mrs. Jones next door wondering why Spider-Man was swinging out of Vernon Parker’s bedroom window when she went out for her evening walk.
He exhaled through his teeth, blinking hard to push back any remaining sleepiness. Most of his homework remained yet to be done, but in his defense, he’d had a lot on his mind, not to mention his running on less sleep and more leftover Rhino-induced adrenaline.
He was tired. His was the kind of exhaustion that seeped into his bones and trickled into the empty corners of his mind, making him want move instead of lie down and rest for a while. It was the kind of tiredness you could only wash away by doing, and as long as he was Spider-Man, there was always something to do.
He clicked off the reading light, dousing the room in darkness. His senses were awake, as if straining for the stimulus of the city, and he needed a good nighttime swing to clear his mind anyway. I deserve a break.
Changing into the costume took all of forty-five seconds, picking up the fallen books three seconds. After sticking a pillow under the bedcovers, Vernon perched on the window pane, looking out into the chilly backyard below. Somehow, changing into his suit and swinging out from his actual neighborhood seemed even more thrilling than swinging in.
Maybe if I go out this way, those three won’t be able to follow.
“Vernon, are you in there?”
His heart almost leaped out of his throat at the voice. Vernon turned, eyes wide, eyes zooming in on the shadow lurking at the bottom of his bedroom door, where a little light seeped in from outside. The lock clicked as Aunt May’s hand pressed down on the handle, and the door opened a crack.
“Don’t come in, I’m naked!” he yelled in a fit of panic, backflipping from the window onto the mattress, making the bedsprings squeak tellingly under his weight. Stupid, stupid, stupid. He was so sleep-deprived he’d forgotten about locking the door.
Rule number one of hiding your secret identity from your all-seeing aunt: never leave the bedroom door open.
“Oh,” his aunt’s voice came from outside. The light spilling in from the crack in the door receded as she pulled the door shut again. “I just wanted to ask, dear, aren’t you going to eat anything? You haven’t had a bite since you came back from school.”
Crap, that’s true, he thought, the muscles of his stomach tightening at the thought. I’ll swing by the candy store downtown. “Uh, I don’t think I will,” he said. “I’m not hungry, er—think I might be coming down with something.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” May’s worried voice sounded, the door beginning to open again. “I could have whipped you up a—”
“No!” he yelled, instinctively pulling the covers up to his chest. “Naked, remember?”
The door closed again. “Well, put something on,” she replied. “And I’ll make you some soup.”
“You do that,” he muttered loudly, already feeling guilt pool in the pit of his stomach at making her so something for him. But what else was he supposed to do? “Actually, no, don’t bother. I can feel a headache coming on already. I’ll turn in for the night and have a big breakfast tomorrow.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to anything?”
“Yeah,” he said. “And don’t come in! Because—you know—germs and stuff. Really nasty bug going around in school, one of the kids in my class had it. Don’t wanna infect you too.”
He heard her sigh, but it was an accepting sigh, albeit a little reluctant. “All right,” she said, and the shadow under the door pulled back a little. “Good night, Vernon.”
“Night, Aunt May,” he said, watching the slit of light under the door until the shadow receded completely. As soon as he was in the clear, he breathed a sigh of relief, slipping off the covers.
Those S.H.I.E.L.D. guys had it easy.
Although he couldn’t feel the night air on his bare skin, swinging through the city at night always left him feeling refreshed. It was a little ironic, sure, physical exertion energizing him, but Vernon suspected it was more of a psychological thing. Being out here in the open reminded him of who he actually was supposed to be—not just Vernon Parker, the tired highschooler with leftover chemistry homework, but crime-fighting, wall-crawling, not-homework-doing Spider-Man.
He landed on the roof of a high building, hitting the concrete with a satisfying plunk. Everything seemed more alive at night. Even from up here, he could hear the sounds of humanity on the street below, loud voices running into each other over the noise of traffic. The Daily Bugle billboard on the high building opposite him was lit up—Jameson probably dragging him like always—but Vernon tuned it out. The last thing he needed right now was more negativity.
He was about to leap off the side again when his ears picked up a soft sound behind him. Bad guys, he thought reflexively, before realizing there was a much better explanation.
His jaw clenched, shoulders tightening before he forced them to relax. “You can come out now,” he called without turning, upset rippling through his body despite him desperately trying not to show it. “There’s no point in hiding if you can’t even do it properly.”
Their hesitation was almost audible, but then she stepped out from behind the small roof door. Tiger’s white suit was stark against the dark sky, her mask’s cat ears perked like Daredevil’s horns. He had to admit it was pretty impressive that she’d managed to stay unnoticed that long.
Nova floated up from the side of the building next, carrying a disgruntled-looking Felix. Seeing the latter out of his X-Men costume felt strange, like seeing Fury without his eyepatch. There was definitely something up with him, but Vernon didn’t want to pry, so he stored the suspicion away for later perusal.
“You can sense non-threatening presences with your spider sense?” Nova asked, looking both annoyed and awed. “Your file didn’t say that.”
Vernon was tempted to lie just to spite him, but stopped himself. If these guys were going to be his teammates, lying about his abilities probably wasn’t the best way to go. “No, you’re just bad at stealth,” he replied, deadpan. “How did you even find me? No, wait, let me guess—camera outside my house?”
“Tracker on your suit, actually,” Tiger said. Despite the mask covering her face, he could sense her guilt, which didn’t help his case. “We can’t learn to work together if you keep running away from us.”
“Running? I wasn’t running,” he said defensively. “And if you want us to work together, the best place to start is to tell me your name.”
“You already know my name.”
“Your other name.”
“Ah.” Her head tilted up. The high ponytail coming out the back of her head flicked to the side as nodded. “White Tiger.”
“A bit simplistic, but to the point.” He nodded in mock-approval. “Makes me think I should’ve just named myself Radioactive Spider.”
She didn’t take the bait, which was probably for the better. “So, what?” Nova asked, and Vernon was suddenly reminded of how infuriating his voice was. “Are you just going to stand around all night?”
“Swing around, actually,” he said. “It’s a big place. Sooner or later, I’m bound to find a crime happening. Sometimes it even happens to me.”
As if on cue, sirens sounded in the distance, loud and piercing. He shrugged at the three, before turning around and balancing himself on the edge. “If you want to get some real-world experience, there’s nothing better than stopping a petty robbery,” he said. “I hope you can keep up—because I’m not going to slow down.”
And he dived.
There was that feeling again, the air pressure against his body as he fell headfirst like a comet towards the busy street. A couple of people looked up as he pulled up at the last moment, shooting webs at an overhead lamppost and swinging in a circle around it before letting go, launching his body into the air again.
He looked over the rooftops as he swung, half-curious about how the others were going to follow. A small, white-clad figure leaped from building to building with surprising grace and strength, able to match him in speed. Nova flew alongside him, carrying Iceman again, who still wasn’t using his powers. Vernon knew it wasn’t a case of loss of powers either, because then he wouldn’t be here, and plus, he’d seen the guy in action this morning. Was he trying to remain inconspicuous?
The less people know Iceman’s in town, the better, he thought, though he knew it was a futile effort. The Rhino fight in the morning hadn’t had any live coverage, but he knew for all its lectures, S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn’t going to bother with hiding its tracks either. School next day was probably going to be buzzing with talk about the new superheroes.
He gritted his teeth. All this in a day. He could imagine how bad everything was going to get in the coming days.
Mid-swing, he saw the crime happening up ahead, a group of masked men trying to break into a store through the back door in a poorly-lit area. Vernon balanced on a high lamppost without alerting them, taking a moment to assess the situation. There were about eight men in balaclavas—a lot for a simple robbery. Maybe they were first-timers. Easy enough to take down.
“A record store?” he wondered aloud, and one of the guys whirled around, looking up at him with wide eyes. “What are you guys doing stealing from record stores?”
“Spider-Man!” one of them yelled, though he didn’t really see the point, since anyone who hadn’t noticed him yet probably deserved whatever was coming.
The man who had noticed him first fumbled for something along his hip before pulling out a gun and pointing it at him. “Don’t move, or I’ll shoot!”
“Oh, no, don’t shoot!” he called out, and the man’s taut shoulders relaxed somewhat before Vernon shot a web straight at the gun, jerking it right out of his hand. “Can’t believe you fell for that.”
He jumped, landing on the ground in a crouch. The leader of the little group, the one who had been trying to bust open the door with a crowbar, stepped forward, swinging said crowbar in what Vernon guessed was supposed to be a menacing way. “Step aside,” he said to his men, his eyes narrowed on Vernon. “I’ll take care of the Spider.”
Vernon was so amused he let the guy attempt to swing at him, dodging the crowbar at the last moment. “Okay, not gonna lie,” he said. “When you called me the Spider, it made me feel kind of sexy.”
He kicked the robber in the side, sending him flying into a trashcan. The rest of the group hesitated only a moment before closing in again. Vernon webbed the lid of the trashcan, swinging it around like a shot-put player and knocking back some of them, before he let go, sending it crashing into one.
Nova dropped Felix in the midst of the group, and his skin slowly solidified into ice. “Okay, playtime’s over now,” he said. “If you just give up, I won’t have to bash your heads in.”
“Where did you come from?” one of the men asked, clearly surprised, right before Iceman froze him into a life-sized ice sculpture.
Vernon knocked out another man with a good old punch to the face. His spider sense buzzed. The crowbar guy, he thought as he whirled around, hands spread in shooting position, but White Tiger was already there, slicing through his crowbar with her claws. “Thanks,” he murmured, as she put him out of commission with a well-placed roundhouse.
She inclined her head. “Don’t get distracted.”
He turned, seeing Nova’s fists start to glow as he aimed at the guy who was attempting to sneak away. Vernon’s eyes landed behind him, where an unsuspecting civilian car was coming down the street. “No!” he yelled, webbing a surprised Nova to the wall.
“Hey, man, what the heck?!” Nova yelled back, struggling against the webs. Vernon shot web fluid at the guy who had been trying to escape, wrapping him up like a cocoon. There was the muffled sound of something heavy falling as Tiger drop-kicked the last one, cleanly finishing what he admitted would otherwise have taken longer. She leaped across the street, slicing through the webs covering Nova, who dropped to the sidewalk.
“What the hell was that for?” he asked, stalking up to Vernon with his fists clenched. “I had that guy!”
“No, you almost sent him crashing into that car,” Vernon said, gesturing at the vehicle behind him that now passed unharmed. “When in a fight, civilians are always first priority. They can’t defend themselves like us.”
Nova scowled, but turned on his heel and marched away, muttering something about him stealing the glory. Vernon watched him go with a frown, then turned around.
One of the robbers lay webbed-up, two quite literally frozen in place, five knocked out. The fight had taken a total of about two minutes—not a record, but considering the number they were going against, surprisingly efficient. He wasn’t even sure if this classified as a fight or simply a one-sided beatdown.
Overkill, he thought, then sighed. “You people have a lot to learn.”
“Oh, come on,” Iceman said. He seemed energized after the fight as his skin melted back to normal, a lively glint in his eye where there hadn’t been one a few minutes ago. “That was so much fun.”
“Yeah, but you have to learn to care about collateral damage,” he snapped, trying and failing to hide his annoyance. Now that he wasn’t swinging alone, crime-fighting wasn’t half as fun, even if it was twice as fast. Having someone watch his back was safe, sure, but it could lead to him letting his guard down. And what if he ended up somewhere alone? “You’re fast, but we’re not fighting in a vacuum. We’re not fighting a war, we’re protecting people. That’s supposed to be the most important thing—making sure no one gets hurt.”
“Even these guys?” Nova asked, toeing one of the unconscious robbers.
“Yeah, even these guys,” Vernon said. “Well, they can be hurt a little bit, but that’s only because there’s no other way to stop them. Next time, make sure you’re not letting any innocent people get in the way of your fun.”
The group fell silent. He almost felt bad about killing their enthusiasm, but Nova’s recklessness had managed to give him a scare. One more second and he might have had a death on his conscience.
The sirens were closer now. He’d completely forgotten about the cops; web-slinging was a much faster method of travel than cars, and he almost always left them behind. “Come on,” he told the others, casting one last glance around the scene. Something felt off, but he guessed it was just the novelty of working in a team. Fun day. “The police will find them. Let’s go.”

The air was hot.
Humid.
Stifling.
A bead of sweat drifted down the back of your neck and goosebumps broke out on your flesh as it traveled below the top of your dress. It was one of your favorites: black and short with silver embedded jewels that glittered beneath the low ceiling lights. A tight fitting pearl necklace decorating the bare skin of your neck matched the earrings pierced through your lobes. And the heels on your feet made you taller, though not by as much as you’d like.
“You ready to go again?”
You glanced up from the glass of water clutched in your hands to meet the questioning stare of one of your dearest friends. Kim Taehyung nodded his head towards the stage that took up the whole back wall of the joint. Two women in similar styles of dresses to yours and short cut hair side-eyed him as they walked past. Giggled into their illegal cocktails and whispered behind their hands.
Perhaps if you hadn't known the man at your side before he was old enough to be weaned from his mother’s breast, then you would have sighed with them. Would have fluttered your lashes at the unnecessarily handsome man gifted with a sweet face and even sweeter disposition. You couldn’t fault them for double-taking at his warm chocolate eyes and hair long enough to cover his lightly tanned forehead.
Taehyung’s coral colored, cupid-bow lips tilted up as he tried and failed to hide how he preened beneath their longing stares. Rolling your eyes, you slid your glass of water back onto the high topped table and patted his suit clad arm. “Let’s go before you get snatched up again and I lose my saxophone player for the night.”
“That was only one time!” Taehyung’s amused voice followed you back to the stage and up the three short steps. Chatter from the packed speakeasy hidden beneath the restaurant upstairs filled your ears with familiarity.
The space wasn’t very big. Then again, it didn’t need to be. Not when it sold illegal drinks like newsboys sold papers. Molls and Dolls was one of the most popular joints in town and everyone who was anyone tried to get their names put down on the incredibly long list. The interior was ritzy, filled with expensive leather chairs, polished wooden tables, and imported Persian rugs.
At the side of the place, to the left of the stage, was the bar. Already packed with broads and fellas dressed in clothes so expensive that those who looked wouldn’t doubt that they came with enough dough to buy whatever they wanted. They belonged to the type of crowd that you didn’t.
You didn’t grow up rich, didn’t have all the possessions you owned bought with daddy’s money. Maybe that was why it was so easy to see past the fronts they wore like cheap, plastic masquerade masks. They wanted people to think that they held all the power, when in reality, they did not. Were just like everybody else when you took away their money and it came down to it.
Nodding at your piano player in a silent motion to urge him to put down the whiskey and pick up the tunes, you approached the microphone center stage. It was cool to the touch as you lightly wrapped your fingers around the stand. The ten minute break you’d taken was exactly what you’d needed to moisten your throat and prepare yourself to sing for the rest of the night.
When a familiar melody started up as your pianist danced his fingers across the keys, you felt your eyes slip closed in bliss. While the rest of the patrons were home to mansions and pricey cars, the stage was where you belonged. The eyes of those who came to watch you sing, to hypnotize them with the words that itched to spring free from your tongue, breathed life into you. And the rhythm of the instruments at your back guided the beating of your heart.
You hadn’t been singing at Molls and Dolls for very long. A year ago was when you’d been approached by the mac who owned the place. He’d caught you the moment you slid from the stage at one of the less infamous underground clubs in the city. Had praised your voice and offered you a slot to sing at his joint every Friday and Saturday night. The only catch was that you could work for him and him only.
The one thing that stopped you from turning him down (how could you live off of working two days a week?) was the hefty wad of cold, hard cash he’d slipped into your palm. A downpayment, he’d said, loose change compared to what you could make with him. Something to give you the incentive to accept.
How R.M.--he never gave out his actual name--really earned the money he got stayed a mystery to you. You knew that the safe in his office was filled to the brim with more bills than you could count; more dough than he could possibly make in an evening. But you never asked. Didn’t need to when he paid you enough to keep the questions from your mouth.
You came to sing, to sip at the drinks you were given and bask in the attention from those who envied you. Who wished they could hypnotize a room with only their voice.
Like now.
You could feel their gazes upon you while you sang and you soaked it up. Tried not to let a smirk capture your red tinted lips when you felt heat boring a hole into the side of your face. Instead, you slid your kohl lined eyes open as the band playing behind you transitioned to fast paced, sexier song.
“If I invite a boy some night To dine on my fine food and haddie.”
Across the room, a pair of dark eyes watched you. They were familiar, and yet not. Belonged to an absolute billboard of a man who looked like he fit more on the cover of magazines sold on street corners, than in the basement of a speakeasy. Hair the color of the scotch he sipped on and skin the same hue as molten honey, he met your gaze beneath heavy brows. His high cheekbones, a strong nose, and jawline sharp enough to cut diamonds were enough to catch many a lingering look.
“I just adore, his asking for more But my heart belongs to Daddy.”
You didn’t even need to see the tag sewed into the jacket of his suit to know that it cost more than you made in a single weekend. Didn’t need to sit next to him on that leather couch to know that he probably smelled exactly how he looked: dark, rich, dangerous. Every single weekend, he claimed the same spot across the room with a handful of other, equally handsome men.
You weren’t sure what they did or why they were there. Why everyone skirted around them like particularly frightened railway mice. R.M. would join them occasionally with friendly handshakes and pats on the back. So it wasn’t very difficult to put the pieces together that wherever he got all of his money from had something to do with those fellas.
Words had never been exchanged between you and the man who watched you perform like you were the only two people in the room. Neither of you had crossed that invisible line that drew itself down the middle of space that divided you. It was an unspoken rule in the game the two of you played. You’d sing as if just for him, and he’d gift you with his attention.
“Yes, my heart belongs to Daddy So I simply couldn't be bad Yes, my heart belongs to Daddy.”
Already hooded eyes seemed to darken even further at the suggestive words that spilled from your tongue. And if you looked close enough--which you always seemed to do when it came to him--the slight quirk of his heart-shaped mouth was a sign of his approval.
“So I want to warn you laddie Though I know that you're perfectly swell That my heart belongs to Daddy Cause my Daddy, he treats it so well.”
Not even the crowd gathered around the front of your stage like meerkats, with their eyes trained on you with rapt observation could pull your own from him. One of the men sitting next to him, a petite looking blond with a soft, pretty face, leaned over to say something into his ear. Not even then did he turn away from you. Just answered his companion without breaking the rules of the game.
“If I invite a boy some night To cook up some hot enchilada Though Spanish rice is all very nice My heart belongs to Daddy.”
The hair at the back of your neck stuck to your skin from the heat that perforated the room due to too many bodies and too little air circulation. But you didn’t pay it any mind, too busy trying to stave off the feeling of disappointment when a man you didn’t recognize approached the men. Cut off your line of sight to the man sitting on the couch. Whatever was said was enough to cause him to rise, press his almost finished drink into the hand of one of his companions and follow the stranger out of the room.
Though the look he sent you before disappearing was a message in and of itself. A silent apology for ending the game before time was up.
The rest of your set up on stage didn’t affect you like it usual did. Failed to provide you with the normal high that accompanied a performance. You tried not to let displeasure show on your face when you departed the stage. The night hadn’t ended, nor would it until the first signs of light began to show as the sun rose over the city skyscrapers. But you were exhausted.
Unfortunately, you couldn’t leave even if you’d wanted to because R.M. had yet to pay you for the weekend. If it were Friday, then you would have just shrugged it off and let it go until the next day. But it was Saturday and you didn’t want to have to come back during one of your off days. Molls and Dolls was too far away from your apartment to hike across the city when you didn’t need to.
R.M. was nowhere to be seen, had disappeared a little while ago according to the bartender who poured you a glass of gin. So sadly, you were left waiting for the man when you weren’t even sure if he would return for the night. Sometimes he would vanish and reappear the next day like nothing had happened. Though you supposed that since he owned the place and all, it was more than acceptable for him to do so.
You just wished that he didn’t do it when you needed to get paid.
Sighing, you pressed the martini glass to your lips and took a hefty sip. The alcohol burned your throat as it slid down, but you didn’t mind it. Not when it lit fire to the blaze itching beneath your skin. Taehyung had disappeared somewhere into the flock of tittering women the moment he’d packed up his saxophone and stepped off the stage.
Left to your own devices, you rested your cheek in the palm of your free hand and surveyed the room. It was still packed wall-to-wall, filled with the sound of chatter and the jazz band who took your place performing. They were talented, good even, but you didn’t expect anything less from someone hired to work for R.M.
“Could I get you another drink, miss?”
Blinking at the sudden intrusion of a voice invading your personal space, you turned to meet the shameless stare of a stranger. He had a face that was all angles and sharp lines with eyes the color of the sky at midday. By the way he carried himself, leaned against the bar like he owned it, you could already tell what kind of man he was. One who thought he could have anything he wanted with the snap of fingers because of the weight of his wallet. Who thought he was the absolute bees-knees.
Raising an eyebrow at the way his gaze lingered on the bare skin of your legs exposed by your dress, you took another sip out of your glass. “I’m still drinking this one.”
“After, then,” he winked. “What d’ya say?”
You hummed before looking pointedly away from him in hopes that he’d get the message without you needing to spell it out. “No.”
“No?” Apparently not. The only thing he got was closer to you as he slid across the bar until his arm brushed your side. “Come on, doll. Don’t be a prude.”
Turning back to shoot him a heated glare, you leaned away from his touch. “Are you deaf?”
He didn’t seem at all affronted by your scoff when he reached up to brush your cheek with his pointer finger. “Can’t say that I am. Now accept my offer before I take it back.”
“Take it back, then.” You jerked your head back until he had no choice but to drop his hand.
“You--”
“I believe that the lady said no.” A voice, deep and raspy and accented with a vocal fry, spoke from over your shoulder. Warmth from a hand pressed to your waist accompanied it, and you found yourself looking back in surprise.
The first thought that came to your mind was that he was a lot taller than he looked from across the room. To the point where you had to crane your head up to take him all in; the sliver of his neck exposed by his expensive suit, a mole beneath his right eye, two dimples that indented either side of his mouth as he pursed his lips in displeasure.
He cocked his head to the side, voice pitched dangerously low. “Don’t make her say it again.”
One glance at the fella who’d forced his presence on you had you raising a brow at how quickly the blood drained from his face. His blue eyes were blown wide, mouth opening and closing like he’d forgotten how to make a sound. He let out a squeak that sounded so incredibly unmanly that you were embarrassed for him, before making himself scarce. Perhaps his reaction should have given you second thoughts about the man who’d come to your rescue, but it didn’t.
It only made you all the more curious.
“I could’ve handled that, you know.”
He looked down at you, took in your playful smile and flashed you one of his own. “I didn’t like his hands on you.”
“But yours is fine?” You questioned, referencing his own hand still on your waist.
He hummed, a deep rumbling sound, and smirked. “You tell me, dollface.”
“I think,” you tilted your head towards the bar, “that you should give me your name and buy me another drink.”
You could feel it then, like the room had shifted.
He barely even had to glance at the bartender for him to make his way over. “You can call me Hoseok.”
Hoseok brushed a stray hair from your face and tucked it behind your ear. It took all you had not to let the way your heart raced from the simple gesture. “And you?”
Your name fell from your mouth and something flashed in his eyes as he tasted it on his lips. Gestured for you to tell the bartender what you wanted.
The rules of the game had changed.

Chapter Fourteen: Everything Goes But The Memories Made
“What?” She barely whispered, her head spinning. Bryce had just revealed to her that he remembered her from their college days when they’d shared a kiss once, drunk.
He looked nervous, afraid to continue, but he did.
“Truth be told, I always had a soft spot for you. You know when you just feel warm around someone, even if you barely know them? That’s how you made me feel. When I’d see you studying at the library with snacks and coffee splayed all around you, or when I’d see you at the hospital for lectures, it was always just a mental ‘hey, I know you’ and suddenly everything would feel okay. Seeing someone you recognise is really grounding, you know? Especially when there’s a distance and you don’t really know them. And I liked the competition of it all, that you were so smart and always number 1 but didn’t even know it was me at number 2, because you were so confident in your own abilities you didn’t need to look back. I wanted to be your friend, but you didn’t seem to have the time, so I let you be. And then you kissed me at that frat party and I thought, god, this is amazing. I didn’t think into it too much - college and all - but I have thought about it a lot since. And then when you crashed into me on our first day at Edenbrook, at first I didn’t know who you were. You look different, you know. It’s been like, seven years, after all, it wasn’t until I saw your name tag that it hit me. Why you’d felt so familiar. But I wanted to wait until you recognised me too, if you even did. And then when you did, I got nervous, and tried to ignore it.”
Holy shit. He… he really remembered me. Not even just from the kiss, either, he remembered me before that.
Suki stammered a little before the words came out, “…Bryce… I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just say?”
“Honestly? I was embarrassed that you didn’t recognise me to begin with. More so, I was embarrassed that I’d known you and recognised you and always thought about you every now and then and you hadn’t,” he said. “I guess it felt sort of… creepy?”
“Wow…” was all she could stifle out. She was at a loss for much more.
Bryce had remembered her, for all this time. Things felt like they were looking up, the way he’d opened up to her and finally told her the truth. Unfortunately, the altercation with Fred and Ben wouldn’t stop nagging at the back of Suki’s brain.
“…sorry,” Bryce exhaled, rubbing his hand across his neck bashfully.
“No, I- don’t worry. I get it. It was just a kiss I’m sure you had loads, but it’s weird.”
“This is why- I didn’t want you to think I was weird.”
“No! Not you! I’m really glad I’m not forgettable,” she laughed lightly, “it’s weird that… oh god it’s going to sound ridiculous.”
“It can’t sound more ridiculous than what I just said. I won’t laugh,” he said, then twisted the corner of his mouth up into a grin, “maybe.”
She sighed, burying her head in her hands before coming out with it. “I guess it just feel like we keep being pulled together, like, i don’t know,” she felt her cheeks become seriously hot, “fate.”
Bryce had lied, because he burst out laughing, which then devolved into a coughing fit and had Suki patting him on the back. Maybe a little harder than she was meant to.
“Ow!”
“You said you wouldn’t laugh!” Except she was laughing, too.
“I know, I know. You just looked funny. Honestly? I do see what you mean. All signs pointing to us ended up here,” he gestured between them, sat facing each-other in his bed.
Maybe this cosmic power she’d been cursing for all the early embarrassing encounters wasn’t so bad after all.
—-
Bryce and Suki talked for hours about college, and their stories, and people they knew in common. They laughed about how Suki didn’t even know Bryce sat near her in most lectures, and only knew him by his reputation.
A little later, after raking through Bryce’s Stanford yearbook and finding Suki in there, Bryce pulled out his high school yearbook.
“This is my senior photo. Just before graduation.”
Bryce was smiling up from the page, his golden tinged hair darker and shoulder length, and silver piercings shone from his ear, eyebrow, nostril, and lip. When Suki had known him he’d been piercing free.
“Oh my god! Why the hell did you stop looking like this for college? You know, I might’ve actually spoken to you if you’d looked like this.”
“Eh. I wanted to be taken more seriously. Why?”
“Don’t make me say it you dick.”
He nudged closer, smug all over his face. “What?”
“Because it looks good on you.”
“So I don’t look good like this?” He motioned down his body, which might’ve been sexy if he was in better shape. Well, as in his cold. His physique was perfect…
Suki gave him an affectionately knowing smile, “of course you do. I like the way you look very much,” she nodded. Then when Bryce’s face lit up she added: “but you’re not going to catch me saying that again anytime soon, okay? Your ego is big enough.”
Bryce moved to get up from the bed, “look, I’m just going to the piercing shop I won’t be long-“
Suki pulled him back down to the bed with a laugh, “Bryce! Although I wouldn’t oppose I’m not sure you’d be allowed in surgeries looking like metal face.”
“It would make things interesting though…”
“What?”
“A lip ring. Maybe a tongue ring. Imagine the kissing, or me going down on you…”
“Bryce.”
“What! Don’t tell me you wouldn’t consider it.”
“You are not getting any action while you’re sick.”
He leaned closer to her in the bed, “I got you to kiss me.”
She sighed and pulled the back of her hand up to check his temperature. Before she got there however, he took it from her.
“What’s this?” He brushed a finger lightly across her fingers, by the edge of the bandaging.
Ah, crap. This guy really does make me lose my mind. I’d forget my name if I spent too long around him.
“Work casualty,” she tried to laugh nonchalantly and pull her hand back to his forehead to seem normal. But he brought it back down to inspect it. His brow furrowed as he tried to decide what was under the gauze, and then he used one of his hands to grab Suki’s other one. He turned this one so that the palm was facing up and the scars from the month before were visible; standing paler than her skin tone right in the centre.
He held each hand in his own like they were feathers, opposite directions up.
“Does it hurt?” He asked, moving his thumb as if about to graze over the scars, asking permission.
“No, go ahead.”
He followed the neat shape of the puckered skin with the pad of his thumb, as gentle as he had been when he’d stitched it. Suki’s hand felt cold under his touch, the sensation on her scar able to feel each fingerprint dragging over.
He dropped her scarred hand somewhat to the mattress, but still held it in his own, shifting their hands slightly so that it was more of a classic hand-hold.
Suki tried not to focus on the bolt of electricity coursing from that spot. She’d wanted to hold his hand for so long, and here he was holding it like it was no big deal. His thumb ran up and down her skin in a soothing motion.
He turned his attention to the other, biting his lip as he looked.
“Whatever caused this, it’s gonna have to answer some questions.”
“It was just, uh, slammed it in the double doors. Those are heavy,” she cleared her throat, hating every fibre of herself for lying.
“Stupid door.” He brought his face down to the bandaged hand and placed a featherlight kiss to the top of her knuckles, “I’m a surgeon, I have magic kisses.”
“Oh dear,” she laughed, a little breathless and trying to seem light and uncaring, “did you take some medicine this morning? I think it’s kicking in.”
He chuckled, almost back to his usual Bryce chuckle, “but,” he cleared his throat, clearly gearing up to make a cheeky comment by the smirk on his face, “if I had a tongue piercing, my kisses really would be magic.”
“Oh my god,” Suki couldn’t help but laugh at him.
As they laughed together on Bryce’s bed, hands tangled together and bodies close, Suki truly felt happy. Like things really could work out for her. For them. And Suki was having an amazing time just being with Bryce.
The only problem was the albatross hanging around her neck.
—-
The next thing Suki knew, she was waking up in Bryce’s bed. He was sat beside her, scrolling through his phone.
She blinked her eyes a few times to make sure she was seeing things right, and moved to sit up.
“I… fell asleep?” She asked groggily, causing Bryce to turn to face her. He smiled when he saw her.
“Yeah. I figured I should just let you, you seemed pretty tired.”
She realised she must’ve fallen asleep when Bryce had been searching for some Stanford pictures, because that was the last thing she remembered.
She sighed, “you should’ve woken me.”
“Nah, you were working all night.”
And getting into it with your colleagues…
She sighed again and bit her lip, figuratively and physically.
“You really should’ve woken me,” she whispered, unable to handle Bryce treating her like this knowing she’d stuck her nose where it didn’t belong.
He smiled back at her, she could see in his face that he knew something was up.
“You’re fine. It’s what friends do.”
“Bryce.” She felt like she was sighing his name a lot these days, and not in the way either of them liked the most.
He twisted his face up into a grin and Suki noticed his eyes were much brighter now, “Suki.”
She rolled her eyes, but she was terrible at hiding her guilt. She had to get out of there, because if Bryce was the one trying to alleviate it she’d feel even worse. She started to shift in the bed, but Bryce reached an arm out over her waist.
She just sort of lay there shocked as he shifted over closer to her, putting his torso over hers.
“At least let me try and kiss away some of those frown lines. If I remember correctly, it’s one of our benefits,” he smirked, hell-bent on making her feel better and in turn making her feel even worse. She couldn’t kiss him and feel like it was okay, because even that, even what was happening at that moment, felt like overstepping and taking it too far and Suki knew that it was on her. She was the one who caught feelings, who started blurring the lines and the rules and taking liberties where possible. She was the one unable to tell Bryce the truth. About her feelings or about her meddling.
But she also knew they were on borrowed time, and this might be the last chance she had to kiss him.
So she put as much as she could into it as she pulled his face to hers, hands on his cheeks and feeling the soft skin with a little bit of stubble beginning to come through, committing it to memory. Her lips pressed to his slowly but definitely, making sure each inch of herself was tied to him. With the kiss her head was filled with every other kiss they’d shared: at college, in the supply closet, at the housewarming party, and the many since. He wasn’t trying to force more like he had earlier, he seemed to be savouring it as much as she was, his lips sweet and slightly chapped but so familiar and Suki felt at home.
Kissing him was that to her.
She felt her face scrunch up as she kissed him, praying to god this wasn’t the last time. His familiar citrus scent washed over her and she never wanted to stop kissing him.
Reluctantly, but knowing she had to, Suki pulled her mouth from Bryce’s. Her eyes were glued shut and her forehead lulled against his, feeling his hair tickle her skin and his hot breaths wash over her face.
“Woah…” he exhaled, speechless to say much more.
Bryce’s kindness and the fact that she liked him so ridiculously much just meant that Suki’s guilt kept growing and growing. She just knew this couldn’t last.
—-
A couple of days passed by and Suki had been bogged down with work again, and hadn’t been able to see Bryce since that day. He’d texted a couple of times and seemed to be on rising spirits, so she was pleased about that.
It was just, every time she thought about Bryce, she couldn’t help but think about what she’d done.
Or about how the clock was ticking down until he found out.
And it was.
Bryce was back to work that day, he’d told her, and she was filled with anxiety the entire time.
Suki was on her way home later that day, just about to enter her apartment building when a voice stopped her in her tracks.
“We need to talk.” It was dark and low and every part of her went cold. She turned to face him, that face of her dreams stern and distant and everything she never wanted to see.
“Okay. There’s people home. We can go to the river.”
Bryce just nodded and started in the other direction.
Suki nervously followed behind him, afraid to catch up for she didn’t know what to say. Building in her chest were nerves and dread and like a hairline crack in her heart which she knew would expand soon enough.
She thought about the last time she saw him, the kiss they shared. How happy they’d been.
They came to the river as the sun was just setting, sparkling over the water like constellations. Bryce’s soft caramel skin was golden in the sunlight, the light reflecting in his eyes and Suki’s heart was put through a wringer just looking at him. Was this it? The last time she’d ever get to see him like this?
Suki searched her brain for ways to start, how to apologise, but Bryce beat her to it.
“Why, Suki?” It wasn’t anger, it was at a loss.
“Why what?” Bad move, Suki. He knows. There’s no point still lying to him.
“Why did you meddle in my business?”
“Because they had no right to do what they did.”
“You’ve made it worse! Now they’re never going to leave me alone! I don’t care about being liked I care about doing my fucking job! It was fine—it was over!” Bryce’s voice was now angry. Suki wasn’t sure which hurt worse. Or maybe they exacerbated each-other, like a hammer and a nail. The nail was the disappointment, and the anger just kept bruising it further into her chest.
“I- are you really pissed at me for standing up for you?” If she just let him know her intentions, maybe she could fix this.
“I’m pissed at you for going and stirring shit up! You crossed a line!”
“It wasn’t just me, Jackie was there too and I don’t see you yelling at her.”
“Well I’m not sleeping with Jackie!”
“What?” She spat.
“You-” his face scrunched up and she felt her heart scrunch with it, “you kissed me. Twice! Knowing you’d gone behind my back and disrupted things.”
“What did you mean you’re ‘not sleeping with Jackie’? Why does that mean we’re held to different standards?” She asked, her voice raised, ignoring his words because the truth hurt too much to say.
“And you didn’t tell me! You spent the entire day with me where you could’ve mentioned it and you didn’t even bother! I thought we were-” He ignored her too, but his voice halted like he couldn’t say what came next.
She couldn’t tell if his voice was breaking from the cold or the anger – but it was heartbreaking.
“No, I didn’t, because I had no clue how you’d react. And look! You’re so… mad,” as she said the last words her voice shook and it came out like a whisper. In fact, her hands started shaking too. Her eyes were beginning to blur from stinging tears welling at the bottom. She’d upset him – the last thing she ever wanted to do.
“You’re damn right I’m mad!” He yelled, and Suki flinched at the noise. “Your hand – you told me you shut it in a fucking car door! I saw his face Suki. You seriously hit him? For some stupid petty rumours?”
“Yes, I hit him,” she could really feel the tears coming as she spoke firm and loud, “he could’ve fucked everything up for you.” And it was cloying with her words, when it came to Bryce, it seemed the anger couldn’t come without pain, too.
“He’s not the only one who fucked things up for me. I mean, you violated my trust,” he shook his head, his hair blowing in the light breeze, “I trusted you,” he said this quieter, and Suki got the impression he wouldn’t have been able to yell it. It was hurt.
“And I ruined that.” I ruined everything. I’m so sorry. I’m sorry. I’ve never cared for someone like this.
“Yeah. You went behind my back on something I told you in confidence, and then lied to me about it. I feel so fucking—” he shook his head, at a loss for words. But he looked embarrassed.
“That wasn’t—I—just wanted to them to know how bad they fucked up! I was so mad that they did that to you.”
“It was months ago! It’s over, old news! And it was my problem to solve.”
“Well you matter to me! Okay?” It came out like a sneeze she couldn’t hold back and her heart was beating more rapidly as soon as she said it. Shit.
Bryce’s expression then was completely unreadable. Suki had no idea what was going on in his head. He just looked at her like that for a few moments, her statement hanging in the air like cigarette smoke. And then Bryce finally came out with something.
“We’re sleeping together Suki – what did you think you were doing?”
And her head was running like a machine; all cogs and whirring and sparks and clanging. The emphasis he’d put on that one word, and she knew where this was headed. Every bad dream, every nauseous predictive thought she’d had lately was laid out in front of her and coming true.
She didn’t want to ask her next question. But she had to. She had to. She knew it wouldn’t come out with any semblance of strength, but at this point, it didn’t really matter.
“So I am just a body to you?” she whispered it with a heaviness which hung in the air. They both knew this moment was going to change everything. There was no going back from here.
Bryce stared at her steely-eyed and jaw clenched so hard it looked like it might pop. She wasn’t prepared for his next word. She never would be.
“Yes.”

Serious question, peanut butter or nutella? Oh you are just mean. Nutella is amazing as a filling or icing, but when it comes down to it I guess I look for peanut butter more often. I love both though.
Do you prefer baked potatoes or mashed potatoes? Mashed. But baked potatoes are pretty good too; the only reason I didn’t pick it is that I don’t get to have it as often as I do mashed.
What is your oldest sibling’s middle name? I’m the eldest sibling, but my sister, who comes after me, has Beatrice as her second name if that’s what you mean by middle name.
Do you like breadsticks? Yes. The more cheesy-garlicky, the better.
What are your favorite things to spend money on? Merch or food.
Which would you rather have a new puppy or kitten? Puppy. Not the biggest fan of cats.
How old will you be on your next birthday? 24.
Do you ever feel self-conscious when you eat around other people? If it’s the combination of having to be around people I’m not too close with, like workmates, and I’m eating something that tends to be messy, like jjajangmyeon, then yeah I can definitely feel conscious.
When you opened your eyes this morning, what were your first thoughts? I fell asleep from 11 PM to around 3 AM and when I woke up then I thought “ugh, I fell asleep early again?”
What is one thing in the room you’re in that reminds you of somebody? My vape pen constantly reminds me of Andi because they were the one who gave it to me.
Could you ever be friends with somebody who was homophobic? No.
Would you ever want to be a supermodel, or date one? I did want to be one, at one point. It was all a matter of being stuck with the wrong crowd at the time lol.
Honestly, have you ever made fun of somebody so bad they cried? Probably with my sister when we were very young.
Honestly, would you rather be complimented on your looks or intelligence? Intelligence.
Have you ever purchased a pregnancy test, for yourself or otherwise? I never have.
You can get one thing, anything, for free right now. What do you pick? Why? A 1 or 2 TB hard drive. My phone has reached the stage where I’m starting to have to constantly delete shit so I don’t reach the maximum storage, so I need someplace to dump all my photos and videos in to free up my phone.
Honestly, have you ever danced naked? Nope.
What was the first illegal thing that you did? Did you get caught? I dunno...buy pirated movies? I didn’t get ‘caught’ since pirated movie stalls are widespread here anyway, so for the most part I’ve always been more concerned for them than I am for myself.
What is the home page on the computer you’re on? Technically it’s supposed to be the Google home screen, but I have an extension that shows me my to-do list for the day.
Do you like to write poetry? Nah, that’s always been my Achilles’ heel when it comes to writing.
Are your ears pierced? Yup. Surprisingly enough they’ve never closed up despite never having worn earrings (clip-ons notwithstanding) in the last 13 years.
If so, were they pierced with a piercing gun, or with a sterile needle? I’m not sure, since my mom had them pierced when I was a baby. I would guess piercing gun, though.
Do you wear makeup regularly? I never wear makeup.
Did you eat cereal for breakfast today? I never have cereal unless I’m staying at hotels. It’s just never been something I look for.
When was the last time you tripped over something? A box that was lying around in my room.
Any obsessive-compulsive tendencies? I’ll sometimes get concerned with how many times I have to flick the switch of our hot water dispenser or open and close the refrigerator door before I feel completely satisfied...but I dunno if that counts.
Who was the last person you yelled at? Technically...Angela? I was filming an unboxing video for a gift she randomly got me and I loved the gift so much I was yelling my excitement through the screen.
Why did you yell at them? ^ That.
Favorite type of apple? I don’t like fruits.
Ever seen live horse racing? No, it’s not something that interests me.
How about live greyhound racing? I don’t even know what that looks like.
What’s one thing, besides the obvious, that you couldn’t live without? The arts, I guess. I need something to listen to, to watch, etc on a regular basis.
Have you ever touched a giraffe? I don’t think so.
What does your mom call you? Robyn, or the Filipino term parents use for their kids.
What stresses you out the most in life? A particular client at work. We have a million campaigns going on for them at any given point so my life virtually revolves around that brand these days.
Do you play any PC games? What is your favorite? Nope.
If you were pregnant, how would you tell the father? Well, that would depend on the circumstances. Did we want a baby? Was it a bad surprise, a happy surprise? I can't answer this with just one idea. < Yeah.
What’s the hardest level you can play on Guitar Hero? If I’m using a Playstation controller, I can go Hard or Expert. But my finger coordination with the actual guitar controller is terrible and I fail most songs even at Easy.
What ever happened with you and your first boyfriend? There was never any ‘boyfriend,’ but my first girlfriend and I have basically had a falling out and I haven’t talked to her in months, and I expect it to continue being that way.
What’s your favorite country song? I don’t have any.
What is the worst thing a former boyfriend/girlfriend has done to you? Putting her pride and anger first even when I’m obviously in a state of disstress or breakdown in front of her. That’s some emotional rollercoaster I’m glad I don’t have to deal with anymore.
What were you for Halloween last year? Just Dora the Explorer again, which was a repeat from the year before that.
Are you feeling guilty for something? I don’t think so; at least there isn’t anything I’m actively feeling guilty about at the moment.
Are you usually quiet or loud? I think I’m in between? I’m pretty loud but I can space out at the most random moments hahaha.
How many hours do you spend on the computer a day? This question always makes me wince at myself...I guess anywhere between 16-18 hours? The only time I put my laptop down is when I’m off to bed, but otherwise it’s constantly open.
What is the show that you watched when you were little, and you still do? I don’t think there is such a show.
Do your siblings text you? Nope. We live under the same roof 24/7 so there’s been little need to text.
Do you want a small or big wedding? Big.
Have you ever searched for your own house on Google Earth? Yes, but that was when Google Earth was still super bare so I wasn’t able to see the actual house anyway, but just the general area where we’re located. I haven’t used Google Earth in years.
Who is your ex dating/talking to? I don’t know and I hoooonestly could not care less.
Ever kissed someone who smokes? Yep.
Does it take a lot for someone to annoy you? Depends on my mood. I have my moments where it’s very easy for me to get irritated.
Do you own your own computer? I mean it was bought for me, but I didn’t get it with money I earned.
Did you ever have to share a room with one of your siblings? When my brother was starting to mature, my sister and I very very briefly experimented sharing a room, but it lasted like all of two weeks. My parents ultimately just transferred our balcony to a bedroom so that all three of us had our own rooms.
What noises in the room you’re in, do you hear at the moment? An airplane is flying above me at the moment so I can hear its engine. I can also hear some crickets chirping and the faint barking of dogs.
Have you ever dated someone with longer hair than yours? Yup.
What’s the biggest upcoming event for you? I guess my second vaccine dose is kinda big? It’s happening this Friday.
What do you typically order from Wendy’s? I rarely get Wendy’s tbh, but when I do I usually go for their Baconator.
Have you ever been given a lapdance by an actual stripper? No, it’s not something I would be into.
What do you love most about yourself? Continued the next day because I am terrible at taking a survey in one go. I like that I don’t hesitate to do or buy things for my loved ones, not even inwardly. I guess it’s because my family has always lived very practically, so I want to make up for that by spoiling my friends.
Have you ever received a hickey from the last person you kissed? Yes.
What are you doing right now? I am supposed to be at work but it’s a relatively quiet day, so I’m here. I do have my screen split between Tumblr and my emails though, so that I’d be able to see if new work will come in hahaha.
What’s bothering you right now? Quiet work days always make me anxious because it makes me think if I’m forgetting about something crucial.
What was the last thing you drank? I literally just took a sip of my coffee before moving on to this question.
Be honest, do you like people in general? Depends on the situation, I think. Like when I go to concerts, I know I’m around people I share the same interests with, so there’s a sense of solidarity that goes with that. But when I’m like...I dunno, lining up to get my license renewed at a government office, I know people there are in a rush and tend to get rude, and that makes me feel a little bit overwhelmed. I don’t think this is something I can generalize.
Do you want your tongue pierced? No. Lip I can consider, but I have to pass on tongue.
Do you change your phone background a lot? I do these days, yeah.
Have you ever made someone so mad that they broke something? Possibly.
Have you ever been strip searched? I’ve been searched, but was never asked to strip.
Do you have a funny last name? Does anyone make fun of it? No, it’s an ordinary surname.
Ever have a drug overdose? What did you OD on exactly? Never.
Do you get sick of people who call themselves bipolar all the time? I get sick of people who call themselves bipolar, and of people who use ‘bipolar’ to describe someone else who just has your typical mood swings.
Describe your day so far in three words: Business as usual.
What was the most stressful project you had so far/while in school? I was once designated as a leader for a science investigative project, which didn’t make sense because science was definitely not my strongest point. Needless to say it didn’t go well and I ended up being a terrible leader. Choose one- Butterfinger, Milky Way, Snickers: Butterfinger, even though they’re a bitch to eat and chew.
Have you ever stepped in dog poop? Maybe once or twice. It fortunately doesn’t happen a lot.
What was the last thing you spent money on? I got Angela and Reena cheese tarts. The reason behind it was Jin held a VLIve last Monday and he had been eating egg tarts during the stream; and because I was happy to have watched my first Jin live, I got my friends cheese tarts hahaha. I don’t know a lot of places that sells good egg tarts so I settled for cheese tarts instead, which I think are better anyway.
Have you ever slept in the same bed with the last person you kissed? Yeah.
Is there a guy that knows a lot about you? I guess Hans? We personally don’t get to have a lot of heart-to-heart exchanges, but considering how Angela’s my greatest confidante I’m sure she has shared bits of my life to him, which I don’t mind.
Is there someone you just can’t imagine your life without? I don’t really like answering this question anymore because the people that I’ve declared ‘for keeps’ have faded out of my life at some point. I’m a lot more guarded and self-preservation-y when it comes to this now.
Do you prefer Starbucks coffee or small cafe coffee? Ooooh, both. I love coffee.
Would you ever consider getting a piercing in your septum? No.
Do you enjoy being outdoors? If the weather is nice, yes.
Do people tell you that you have an accent? I mean I’ve been told my English is strong, but my accent in particular doesn’t really get noted.
Do you enjoy watching fireworks on the 4th of July? I don’t celebrate that.
What’re some unspeakable subjects for you? I don’t like talking about my brother. Otherwise I am pretty open about everything.
Is there anyone you would take a bullet for? Several people come to mind.
Do you enjoy tanning? If I’m at the beach, sure. It’s honestly not something I have to constantly keep up with, though, since I’m already naturally tan enough. Are you a virgin? No.
Who’s your celebrity crush? Taehyung :(
Did or do you get good grades in English class? I always got pretty good grades in English.
What part of your body are you self-conscious about? Teeth, and my legs sometimes.
Are you expected to help fix Thanksgiving dinner? I don’t celebrate that.
Have you ever lost anyone close to cancer? Yes.
Do you personally know anyone who is transgender? Yes.
When was the last time you got a shot? Last month, then I’m getting my second dose tomorrow.

Daily Blog #6: August 13, 2021
Okay, okay, I know it's a couples days later, but I can assure you that I did not forget; I purposefully, and kinda without a better option, didn't post on Friday, and you'll see why.
So the day started off pretty regularly: I got up, ate breakfast, got a shower, and then sat around playing games and watching YouTube for a bit.
That was until my friend showed up at my house...
He called me and said to come outside, so I did.
It wasn't long until I got into his car, and we started driving.
I definitely should have been more anxious or nervous heading out, but for some reason, I just sat there with my head absentmindedly poking out the window, not really thinking about it.
I really wish I had grasped the situation a little better.
We got down there after an hour and a half of driving and we parked a bit away because there were so many people there, so many people there, in fact, that we just got some food until it calmed down again.
It was gonna be a great fucking concert.
Hella Mega Tour 2021, originally supposed to be Hella Mega Tour 2020, but postponed for obvious reasons.
We shopped for a tiny bit beforehand, not buying anything, and then headed over to the stadium 45 minutes before the concert was set to start. We were let in about 10 minutes later, and we filled our contraband water bottles that we managed to hide on the way in.
We sat there for a bit, me just listening to music on my Redmi Buds 3 pro.
I love these things.
Pretty soon the music started, and it was The Interrupters; everyone was feeling pretty lazy for this bit.
It's not like they were bad or anything, they were actually pretty good, but I guess everyone was just getting situated and didn't wanna bother using up all of their energy lol.
So The Interrupters' set is up, and they tear down the stage and reset it. Before too terribly long, Weezer starts up, and there's a lot bigger reaction from the crowd than there was before: people knew the songs, like Africa, Buddy Holly, Beverly Hills, and Feels Like Summer to name a few.
I was getting into it a bit, I knew a good few of the songs, I was moving along, I sang a bit, took some video.
What's cool is that I could feel myself moving along the scale, like going from no excitement while no one was playing, then tapping my foot and grooving to The Interrupters.
When Weezer first came on, I was just sitting there like, "alright, this is good shit." Towards the end, I was quietly singing Buddy Holly, their last song for the night.
I say quietly because there was a lot more loudness to come.
I should add that, up until this point, the music had been kinda unbearably loud, the highs really piercing and hitting hard.
Additionally, up until this point, I had been trying my best to document the concert with videos and audio recordings; it wasn't so much about enjoying the concert, for I've always been taught just to record stuff and not worry about the concert.
I don't think I've ever really enjoyed any of the concerts I've ever been to; I was there, but I wasn't. I didn't really know too many of the songs, and I had only listened to the artists in passing, not to mention the fact that my mother had been at every other concert I've been to, which is stifling in itself. I really can't enjoy anything when she's around.
But here we were; it was starting to get dark, and Fall out Boy was coming onstage. The crowd was getting into it with Weezer, and it was time for Fall Out Boy. The energy here had far exceeded both Weezer and The Interrupters, and this went for me as well.
I was sitting there, singing along and still occasionally recording, but I didn't have my phone out too much. I started to dance in my seat with every song, for I knew almost every one: Sugar, We're Going Down, Centuries, My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark, Grand Theft Autumn/Where is Your Boy, The Last of the Real Ones, Save Rock And Roll, and Dance, Dance being a few.
Throughout this set, everyone was singing along, but the real fun had yet to begin; the scent of smoke from the flames and fireworks finding its way through the crowd, the music now strong instead of piercing, a sense of unity between everyone in this packed stadium, between people of all walks of life: men, women, children, transgender, cisgender, non-binary, gay, straight, lesbian, ace, black, white, Asian, Mexican, young, old, middle-aged, and everything in between and outside... It didn't matter who you were or where you came from; you were at a fucking party, and everyone was gonna fuck it up once the main act came on stage.
Meanwhile, everyone was more than happy to celebrate with Fall Out Boy and some of their greatest and most memorable tracks.
Part way through Fall Out Boy's set, I decided to get off of my ass and join the growing number of audience members who were really getting into the groove and feeling the music.
It was so close to becoming an explosion of energy once Fall Out Boy was about to leave the stage.
After they left, the set was torn down once again and set up for Green Day.
Their was a low mix of music playing through the speakers all the while things were being set up. Once the stage was set, the music continued for a bit, but was then cut and replaced with a voice and lyrics that everyone knew immediately.
"Is this the real life. Is this just fantasy."
The crowd sings along to every word.
"Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality."
Freddie's voice poured out into the crowd, and the crowd sang them right back.
"Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see"
The song continued, and the whole crowd sang to the very end.
This really goes to show how impactful some people and groups can be on our lives... Although no one at the show was connected to Queen or Freddie Mercury, everyone who came to see these 4 bands still knew this great group.
Once the song was over, a mix of some of the most famous rock anthems began to play:
"We will, we will rock you"
"I love rock and roll"
"Hey, Ho, let's go"
A glorious piece all lead up to the 4 running onstage, Billie Joe Armstrong, Jason White, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool, joined now by 2 new members, Jason Freese and Kevin Preston.
All at once, it was an explosion of strong and passionate guitar jamming, soon followed by the drums and vocals of American Idiot. All at once, the crowd was rocking along with bopping heads, stomping feet, and swaying bodies. I only had my phone out to record for a short moment before I put it away and scarcely removed it from my pants for the rest of the concert.
I couldn't help but feel cocky, as a bi/pansexual (idk which one lmao), being allowed to sing the line,
"Well maybe I'm the faggot America"
I was like, "You straight bastards better not be singing that line 🤣"
It was absolutely incredible; the crowd cheered passionately and wholeheartedly at the end of every song and solo, after every quote from the band.
The coolest part about the concert was the fact that everyone just lost themselves in the music, as well as that everyone, without hesitation, followed what Billie Joe said. He says jump? WE FUCKING JUMPED. He tells us to scream? We. Fucking. Screamed. And when he wanted us to sing, we sang. I mean, okay, we were singing the whole time xD. I'm sure we would've sang if he told us to and we weren't already doing so lmao. What he said was our law, and we were doing our jobs as the dutiful citizens of Suburbia by following those laws.
It really is hard to express the level of pure energy at this gathering, especially when it radiates from every point in the packed stadium.
I screamed so loud and hard, and sang so long and passionately, that my voice started to go. But. Guess. What.
When you're at a place like this, no matter what, you just have this insatiable urge to keep going no matter what. When my arm got tired of throwing my fist in the air, I kept fucking going and even used the other arm too.
It's such a strange feeling when you feel like you're about to give out, like your voice is gonna break, or you're gonna collapse from dehydration and exhaustion, but you find around you the strength and power to keep on going, no matter how quickly your vocal health deteriorates.
Ask my friend, I couldn't speak properly after that shit xD. He even threatened to send a video of me talking to my choral teacher, who honestly would have been mad at me lmao.
Meanwhile, Green Day is playing some of their greatest hits, old and new alike, and I knew every single fucking one of them. I sang every song, and only took a break between 2 of them to down my whole bottle of contraband water in 3 seconds flat.
At one point, the band stopped playing, and Billie spoke into the microphone.
"Get your pretty lights out. I wanna see the pretty lights."
Everyone got their phones out and turned the torches on, as per his command.
"Turn the house lights off."
The lights go off, and the stadium is lit up almost as bright as it had been before, but this time with the lights of thousands.
"Look at that."
It was honestly an incredible moment.
That brings me to another point: when you go to a concert, you're not just paying for the music, you're not just paying to see a band, you're paying for an experience.
Let me tell you, this was one hell of an experience.
If you don't leave a concert feeling fulfilled, then the performers didn't do their job of giving you the experience that you paid to be a part of. I'm so happy that these four bands, especially Green Day, were able to deliver.
I really did love every moment of that show, which is such a rarity for me. I'm really happy that my friend took my mother's place. I can't fucking enjoy everything when she's around.
Oh yes, it wouldn't be one of my daily blogs without me talking about how my mother consistently pisses me off. Don't worry, I have some happy shit left to end on.
I swear to fluff though, she always manages to ruin everything for me. When we went to see The Lion King on Broadway, she insisted on coming with. That meant that I wasn't able to relax in my seat because this disgusting woman was sitting next to me and I had to cram myself to the side of my chair away from her. It meant that I wasn't allowed to cry when Mufasa died or during Can You Feel The Love Tonight because I knew I'd get made fun of for it.
I even went to a Fall Out Boy concert before, her refusing to let me go myself, and I didn't sing a single song because she'd just tell me to let the professionals handle it.
And for fuck's sake, the time she compared me trying to fucking validate my existence as a trans person to her wanting a car... That will always fucking piss me off.
Sorry, I got sidetracked. I was talking about how she ruins everything for me.
I literally cannot be myself around her. I've always been judged and ridiculed by my parents, and still am. I can't enjoy anything when they're around because I'm too focused on trying not to get made fun of or yelled at.
That being said, that concert was absolutely fucking incredible. I was with thousands of people who felt the same way that I did, and I could fucking jam out if I wanted to.
Apart from everyone being really on top of their game, and Billie Joe basically not aging since he turned 25, the only really notable thing left to say about the performance was when they pulled a kid guitarist onstage. He played for a bit, and they ended up letting him keep the guitar lmao.
BEST PART IS:
I SAW THE KID AFTER THE CONCERT, AND I WAS LIKE,
"Omg, hey, can I get a selfie with you?"
I was trying to be really low-key and quiet cuz I didn't wanna draw too much attention to him lmao.
The security guard was like, "Yeah, sure, but hurry up."
I TOOK THE PIC REALLY QUICKLY AND THEN HEADED OUT
HERE IT IS
YES, OF COURSE I BLOCKED OUT MY FACE
But I absolutely love the vibes of this photo xD. It's blurry, the lighting is shit, and you can barely make out any details. It has a lot of character, and I would take this over a clean, clear photo any day.
Walking away, the kid's mom said, "You're like, the coolest kid ever now."
Agreed.
Then it was time to go home. Honestly, I didn't feel sad that it didn't last longer, or disappointed that I had to leave. I was actually very satisfied and fulfilled with what happened, which is honestly the way it should be.
Driving home, I stayed awake by sticking my arm out of the window and letting the cold rain hit fast like tiny needles.
I got home.
I passed out.
Although, that was technically on Saturday 🤔
ANYWAY, THIS IS MY LONG ASS BLOG FOR FRIDAY THE 13TH
I hope you enjoyed
Be good people!!!!

682.
1 - When you wake up, do you get up straight away or do you lie around in bed for a while? I remember making this survey years ago, lol. Anyway, it depends. I set my alarm for when I need to be up but if I wake up before then I'll lay around and doze or read my phone. At weekends I often get up, feed the animals, make a coffee and go back to bed for an hour.
2 - Who was the last person you video-called with? Have you done this more often since COVID hit? My mum, and yes, most definitely.
3 - How many times a week do you go out for food or drink? Less than once a week as eating out is just so expensive and is often really disappointing imo. We tend to go maybe every 6-8 weeks but we do get takeaway more often.
4 - Do you prefer getting takeaway or actually sitting in a restaurant and eating your meal there? I prefer going out for lunch or breakfast and then getting a takeaway for an evening meal.
5 - Where’s your favourite place to get takeaway coffee (or whatever your drink of choice is)? If I had one nearby then I'd go to Starbucks but the nearest is like, a half hour drive and I'm not that desperate. I tend to go to the local coffee/ice-cream place near the beach.
6 - Do you tend to keep your phone on silent, vibrate or loud? Silent at night or at home, loud at work.
7 - If you have pets, when was the last time one of them annoyed you? What happened? Archie when he came home from his walk and straight to the litter trays - yes, he is gross and yes, they'd been emptied, he was just being an opportunist lol.
8 - When was the last time you went into a bookshop? Uh, about August I think? We don't have one anywhere near us.
9 - What was the last thing you ordered off Amazon? Cat food and dog treats.
10 - When was the last time you took a dog out for a walk? Is this your own dog or did you borrow someone else’s? Friday and they were someone else's dogs. Oakley and Ollie are my last walk of the week and they're so great to take out. Super obedient, excellent recall and very friendly.
11 - What jewellery do you have on at the moment? My piercings and my wedding and engagement rings.
12 - Do you have any products in your hair right now? What are they? No.
13 - Have you ever used a VPN to access foreign content online? Yeah, mostly just to watch US TV shows for free.
14 - Who was the last artist you listened to? Is this someone you’re a fan of? Bishop Gunn and yeah, they're okay.
15 - What was the last thing you had to drink? Tea, which is really unusual for me.
16 - When was the last time you cooked something for the first time? Did it work out the way it was supposed to? I honestly have no idea. I never really cook anything.
17 - Black cats are considered to be bad luck - is this a superstition that you’ve ever believed in? Nope. Two of our cats are black cats.
18 - Would you ever eat blue cheese or do you find the idea of eating mould to be pretty repulsive? I love blue cheese. We have loads in the fridge right now, lol.
19 - Do you visit the dentist every six months like you should? I go once a year as it's covered for free under my dental plan.
20 - How old were you when you first used the internet? Was it dial-up or did you have access to proper broadband? I think I was about ten or so. Broadband didn't exist in homes back then so it was dial-up or nothing.
21 - Are you old enough to remember using floppy discs? Yeah, I had loads of games that ran off floppy discs lol.
22 - When was the last time you purchased an actual DVD or CD? I bought some DVD's a few months ago but I haven't bought a CD for years - probably over a decade tbh.
23 - Do you shave? Which body parts and how often? Yeah, legs, pits and bits, and everyday.
24 - What’s your favourite season, and what are some of your favourite things about that season? Autumn - the colours, the weather, the atmosphere.
25 - When was the last time you burned yourself? Yesterday, I think?
26 - Have you ever been the victim of a theft or robbery? What was stolen? Did the police ever catch the person who did it? Yeah, I was pick-pocketed in France (luckily they didn't take much and I never reported it). My parents have had their car/house broken in to a couple of times - my rollerblades were stolen once. The second time they stole my mum's handbag and the car off the drive.
27 - What was the last TV show you discovered that you really liked? What was it that got you to watch it in the first place? I haven't started a new TV show in months. I did like Young Sheldon for a bit but I got bored after the first few seasons.
28 - Have you seen any of the live-action Disney remakes? Which one is your favourite? What about your least favourite? Yeah, all of them. I like Mulan and Alice in Wonderland and I LOVED the first Maleficent. Hated The Lion King and Aladdin. Little Mermaid and Jungle Book were good too. Lady and the Tramp was meh, so was Cruella.
29 - Do you have any exciting plans for tomorrow? If not, how are you planning to spend your day? Just work. I'll be up at half seven to feed the animals, then it's breakfast and get myself ready. I leave at half eight - then it's off to my final visit with Charley (cat) before I walk Sparky. Then it's two group walks before I pick Archie up and take him out with Ollie for the last walk of the day. Then back home, feed the animals again, shower and chill.
30 - Would you ever keep a working dog as a pet? Do you think it’s fair to keep dogs like huskies in flats when it’s so different to their natural environments? I have a beagle in a small house - I don't think your home environment really matters as long as you have the time and energy to give them the exercise and enrichment they need.

.
Harry was in a bad mood today. It shouldn't have come as a surprise to Y/N, because he was rarely in a good mood when she was around, but this time she felt differently. At first, she didn't pay attention to him when he walked in looking like he was attending a funeral. She guessed it must've had something to do with the exam he'd had earlier today. It was very unlikely though. He'd never done poorly on an exam let alone failed one. So she eliminated that possibility and told herself to stop second guessing.
"What the fuck?!"
Y/N heard the scream and dashed into the kitchen, only to burst out laughing when she saw him holding the milk carton with milk dripping down his chin. She was going to make a funny comment when he snapped all of a sudden, "why the fuck did you put spoiled milk in the fridge?!"
"So you'd stop drinking my milk without asking." She stuck her nose up, crossing her arms.
"You're a psycho," he muttered and wiped his mouth and chin with the back of his hand.
She watched in amusement as he tossed the carton into the bin and cleaned up the mess he'd spat on the kitchen table. It was hilarious, yet just a harmless prank. The normal Harry would just laugh it off and say something like "I've underestimated you." But the Harry standing in the kitchen with her right now didn't even move his lips. He had the same frown on his face like the moment he walked in and then walked right past her, out of the kitchen. That was when it dawned on her that this wasn't something she could just ignore. But why was he like this? What had happened today?
He didn't have dinner with her that night. She'd eaten alone many times before when he was out with his friends, but tonight she felt truly lonely. Without anyone to rant about her day to, she finished fast, cleaned the dishes on her own and spent the next half an hour pacing back and forth outside his room, wanting to knock, but in the end, she decided to go to bed. Maybe he'd feel better in the morning, she thought while lying awake until she was too drained to keep her eyes open.
.
.
.
"Hey, love, can I go to Dustin's bachelor party tomorrow night?"
Y/N widened her eyes at her husband who casually poured a glass of water and settled himself at the kitchen table.
"Who's Dustin?" she asked, pulling out a chair to sit down in front of him.
"My roommate in college." He gave her a shrug. "You know, back when I was living at the dorm."
She looked at him funny. "You're still friends with him?"
"Nope. I just ran into him the other day, we went out for a few drinks and I got invited to his bachelor party," he said smugly and lifted his glass. "What can I say? Your husband is irresistible."
The way his eyebrows waggled made her laugh. "Okay, but you're a grown man, babe. You don't have to ask for my permission to go to a party."
"Are you sure?" he asked, resting his chin on his knuckles. "Because bachelor parties always have strippers and all that shit?"
She crossed her arms and lifted an eyebrow. "Are you trying to make me jealous?"
"Well, are you?" He mirrored her expression, grinning from ear to ear.
"Very." Y/N scrunched up her nose and reached across the table to stroke his head. When she stood up, however, he hugged her waist and pulled her in so he could kiss her stomach again and again. It was his ringtone that broke them apart.
"Your dad's calling."
"Just ignore him."
"Harry!" Her mouth fell open when he muted the call and forced her down on his lap. "What if it's an emergency?!"
"It's probably just work," he mumbled, pressing his hands flat against her back as she straddled his waist. She almost got carried away by him nuzzling her breast, but the buzzing of his phone was hard to ignore.
"Just answer the phone, H." She breathed.
Still, he shook his head unapologetically. "One of our investors pissed him off, and as usual, he blamed me for it. It's nothing serious."
"Are you sure?"
Harry didn't answer as he put his phone on airplane mode and faced it down on the table. "There," he said with a grin. "Now...where were we?"
.
.
.
When Y/N woke up the next day, Harry had already left their flat. She completely understood that he didn't want to talk to her, but she determined to get a word out of him when he returned tonight and maybe apologize. Now all she could do was try to stay positive and carry on with her morning routine.
Y/N always took too long in the shower, yet she could never begin the day without one. This morning, she'd told herself to spend only fifteen minutes in there. Now it'd been thirty, and she was still in the middle of rinsing off her body while belting out the chorus of her new favorite song.
But then,
"FIRE! Y/N! FIRE!"
The girl turned off the shower and poked her head out to make sure it was actually her flatmate's scream that she'd heard.
"THE BUILDING IS ON FIRE, Y/N! WE NEED TO RUN!"
Fire?!
Y/N stumbled out of the shower, holding her breath. She only managed to wrap a towel around her dripping body before rushing to the living room. Harry was nowhere to be seen but the front door was wide open. He had run before her! Of course, he left me here to die! she thought and dashed out of the flat.
But the hallway was...empty?
Peaceful, even.
Wait, if the building had been on fire then why wasn't there an alarm?
She squeezed her eyes shut and clenched her jaw, one hand gripping the towel, the other smacked against her forehead. Damn it!
"Wow, you were fast. At least wait for my fire alarm."
His laughter pierced through her brain and she turned around to find him standing with his back against their door, the Bluetooth speaker in his hand, and the assholest smirk on his stupid handsome face.
She marched straight toward him and pushed him hard. "What is wrong with you?! Why are you such a dick?!"
"You only say the word 'dick' when you're with me, love. I feel special."
There he was, the smug bastard she always knew.
"That was for trying to poison me," he said when she groaned into her palm. "Nice towel by the way. Baby blue looks good on you."
A part of her was still aware of the fact that she was standing in the hallway with only a towel on, but the rest of her was glad he'd stopped being mad at her. So she said nothing and pushed him aside to go before anyone saw her like this. But as she turned the handle, the door wouldn't open. She tugged at it several times, more violently and desperately, only to look up and see the same horrified look on his face.
"Please tell me you have the key," she muttered, knowing already that he certainly did not have the key, yet for some reason, she still felt shocked when he shook his head and put the speaker on the floor.
"Are you joking?! I'm naked, Harry!"
"Calm down, I'll call the locksmith!" Harry grumbled as he searched through his contact list, but then smiled at how his flatmate was pacing back and forth in only her towel.
"Don't worry, you look hot," he said, and motioned that his mouth was zipped shut when she shot him a leer.
.
.
.
Y/N couldn't believe it.
This morning when her husband left the house, she had repeatedly reminded him to not to forget his key, but now it was she who got locked out of their flat. She'd tried calling him, but he'd had his phone turned off. He never had his phone turned off when he was out and she was home alone, so she guessed all the guys at the party were asked to so and Harry didn't have a choice. Now all she could do was patiently wait for the locksmith to come for her rescue.
Sitting on the floor with her head in her hand, Y/N was too busy cursing herself in silence to hear the sound of the lift and the footsteps coming her way. It was only until the man cleared his throat loudly that she finally lifted her face, and her eyes widened at him immediately.
"Why are you sitting on the floor?" Devlin asked in concern.
Y/N frantically got to her feet as she straightened her dress and stuttered, "I-I left my key inside, but it's okay, I already called the locksmith."
"Where's Harry?"
"He's at a party and not answering his phone."
The answer made the man in the suit sigh as he whispered, "typical Harry..."
"No, no!" Y/N shook her head fast. "It's a bachelor party so maybe they made him turn off his phone. He's very responsible."
Devlin stared at her for a whole second before releasing another sigh, yet he remained quiet. Meanwhile, she stood still and studied his expression. She was waiting for him to speak, but also second-guessing what he was going to say next and why he was here.
"Do you know why he hasn't answered any of my calls?" He asked.
"No, sir..." she cautioned.
That answer made the man frown even harder. "What's the point of having two children when they're never there when you need them?"
Y/N almost blurted out that Devlin hadn't been there for Harry a lot of times too, but considering the fact that this man absolutely loathed her, she thought she should just keep her mouth shut.
"How are you and the baby? Good?"
The question froze her to the spot. She didn't expect him to ask about her and her baby because he hadn't said a word to congratulate them when Harry broke the news to him. But on second thought, if she hadn't been carrying his grandchild, maybe this conversation would never have lasted for more than two sentences.
"Yeah, we're good." She faked a beam, not knowing how to feel, but that concern soon slipped her mind.
The way he stood with his head hung low and hands in his pocket reminded her of Harry whenever he was nervous about something. The thought made her smile, but her father-in-law couldn't see it so he just said, "can you tell Harry that I came over?"
"What's wrong?" Her voice stopped him just as he was about to walk off. "If it's so important then you can just tell me and I'll help you speak to Harry."
Slowly, he turned around and glanced back up to meet her eyes. The Styles men were the same after all. Just like his son, Devlin couldn't say no to this young woman.
After pondering for what seemed like two seconds, he released a shaky breath. The reluctance was still etched on his face, but eventually, he gave her a nod, pinching his forehead.
"I caught my wife cheating on me."
.
.
.
"Let's talk about something fun!" Harry suggested as his face lit up, but all he received from Y/N was her passive aggressive silence.
They were sitting on the floor and she was naked, probably not the best time and place for a heart-to-heart conversation. But Harry believed he would've already died from boredom and silence by the time the locksmith arrived.
"I have nothing to say to you," she grumbled, crossing her arms, not looking at him.
She was mad, so mad that Harry could imagine smoking coming out of her ears. But there was something about the way she looked right now that made the butterflies in his stomach go insane. He bit his lip, holding back a smile as she kept adjusting the towel so her breasts wouldn't spill out. Why would she even bother to do that? He wouldn't mind. It would help his imagination the next time he shamelessly jerked off to her when he was alone. Jesus Christ, you're one fucked up bastard, said the voice in his head as he shrugged off the thought he would never say aloud and pulled his shirt over his head.
"What are you doing?" She almost jumped away from him but he was quick to catch her arm.
"Here." Smirking, he handed her his white t-shirt. "Put this on."
Y/N stayed utterly still as she stared at him like he'd just committed a horrible crime, and he couldn't help but chortle at the priceless reaction. "It's getting really hard for me to speak to you when you look like this. Please put this on."
Her cheeks reddened in a heartbeat. She parted her lips, wanting to ask what he really meant, but she was too shy to speak so she stayed quiet and put on his shirt. The way he was smiling at her afterward made her feel like she was more naked than before. Her arms automatically came wrapped around herself like a shield as she questioned, "what's so funny?"
"Nothing." He sounded nearly breathless. "You just...look really good in my shirt."
"Oh..." Her face dulled for a split second before she could say "thank you."
Tucking a strand behind her ear, Y/N stared at her feet to avoid eye contact at all costs. She merrily replayed those words inside her head, until she remembered that he'd probably said the same things to all the other girls. Who knew? Some of them might even have his shirts in their closet. Lending a girl his shirt and telling her she looked good in it probably didn't mean anything to him. Now she hated herself for forgetting that he flirted just for fun and for falling for his words every single time. How embarrassing.
"Are you still mad at me?" Harry asked when he saw the way she frowned.
"No."
"I can tell when you lie," he snorted. "Look, I'm sorry. I know that was a bit mean."
"A bit?!" She suddenly snarled at him. "Thanks to you I'm sitting in the hallway, half-naked—"
"Hey, hey, we're both half-naked now."
"Whatever." She rolled her eyes. "You're a horrible person."
"So are you."
"I'm not!"
"You made me drink spoiled milk, Y/N. My stomach is weak, I could've died."
"So I guess we're even now?"
"I guess so." He flashed her a grin and offered his hand. "Truce?"
To his disappointment, she shook her head. "Only if you tell me why you were acting strange last night?"
"I wasn't—"
"Don't deny it. I can tell when you lie," she repeated exactly what he'd told her earlier as she scrunched up her nose. "Just tell me what was bothering you. Was it the exam?"
"No, I nailed the exam," he spoke calmly.
"Then what?!"
The calmer he was, the more frustrated she became.
Y/N couldn't explain why she was like this. All she knew was that it bothered her when he wasn't himself, when he raised his voice at her for no reason, or when he wasn't speaking to her at all. She was desperate to make sure he was alright, that he didn't have to keep his sorrows to himself. Who would do that for someone they claimed to hate?
No, wait.
The actual question had to be: Did she hate him, at all?
"It's nothing," his voice freed her from her confusing thoughts, and so she decided to put them aside to focus on what was more important.
"You wouldn't like to know," he said with a long sigh.
"What does that even mean?" she uttered. "You owe me the truth after all this. If you don't tell me the truth I swear I'll...well, I'll..."
She didn't know where she was going with that, but thank God, he only laughed and patted her knee to tell her to calm down. The simple gesture froze her to the spot, but it also saved her from humiliation.
He took a deep breath as his lips curved into a small smile. "My dad's getting married this weekend," he told her at last.
Y/N pursed her lips as her face contorted. "And you just found out yesterday?"
"Yup. And you know what the worst thing was?"
She shook her head.
"It was his assistant who'd invited me to his wedding." He laughed wryly. "Man, I wished it'd been a prank but, sadly no."
He was doing that again, the whole 'I laugh at my problem so no one else could' thing. If only he knew she wanted nothing more than to pull him into a hug, but all that she was allowed to do was rub his shoulder and say, "I'm sorry."
"Don't be," he gentled. "I was mad for just a while but I shouldn't have put it out on you."
"It's okay. I wish you'd just told me," she said, holding their eye contact intensely.
"Were you actually worried about me?" His voice went soft, like the gaze he was giving her.
She wished he would stop looking at her like she meant the whole world to him, when she knew that she meant nothing more than just a girl he had to live with. But then again, she couldn't resist him. She craved for him to keep staring at her this way until the day she died. That would've been the best way to kill someone, staring at them like you loved them until they couldn't take it anymore.
Ignoring the thought, she answered, "yeah, the next time you're mad...just...you don't have to tell me the reason...just let me know you're mad and I'll leave you alone."
"Don't leave me alone."
When he said that, it took her a couple of seconds to realize those were the actual words coming from his mouth. She held her breath in anticipation as he leaned in...closer...and closer...until they were just one breath away. But instead of doing what she'd wished he'd done, he rested his head on her shoulder, completely unaware of how fast her heart was racing for such intimacy. This was so new, yet so familiar, and now she was sitting like a rock as she feared he might pull away if she moved.
The locksmith arrived half an hour later, cursing the traffic as he stumbled out of the lift and mentally prepared an apology. But then he stopped, rooted to the spot as he found two half-naked college students sitting outside their flat, both were asleep, her head on his shoulder.
.
.
.
"Can you believe it?" Devlin huffed and combed his fingers through his hair as his head tossed back against the wall behind them. "A man my age, got cheated on by his second wife. What a joke."
Y/N had been listening to her father-in-law pouring his heart out for what seemed like half an hour already. Now it was time for her to speak her mind although her thoughts might not be something he would want to hear.
"You shouldn't be blaming yourself for what she did. You've done the right thing by asking for a divorce. It doesn't matter how old you are, you should never forgive a cheater."
He didn't reply, but judging from the way his expression softened, she could tell that her words had affected him, a little if not a lot.
"Do you mind if I ask you something personal?"
His question caught her off guard, still, she said no.
"Have you ever thought about what you would do if my son cheated on you?"
"Not anymore."
"So you have." He nodded once as if to agree with his prediction. "Tell me, what would you do then?"
"I would leave him," she said without reluctance. Then came a long pause as her eyes fell back to her feet. "But...that would probably hurt me more than him cheating on me. He's the only love I've ever known, I wouldn't know what to do without him. Guess I'd be half-dead, half-alive."
Devlin took time to think before he spoke, "you really love him, do you?"
"I do," she asserted. "But do you?"
The question, though simple, took him by surprise. "Of course I do," he said. "He's my son. He was the first person I called when I found out about my wife's affair."
"He should always be the first one you call, not only when you're sad or angry or hopeless." Y/N's words hit Devlin harder than he was willing to admit, but she neglected his reaction and continued anyway, "call him when you're happy, call him when you're tired, call him when you see something that reminds you of him, or just...call him to say you're proud of him and that you miss him and you love him. You don't know how much it'll mean to Harry."
She wasn't sure what to expect as a reaction, but it certainly wouldn't be him pulling her into a hug. Her whole body stiffened, only to relaxed all at once as she finally hugged him in return.
"My grandchild is lucky to have such good parents," Devlin whispered in her ear. And Y/N swore she could feel that same dimpled smile she'd always seen on her husband.
Half an hour later, Harry came home, slightly tipsy and smelling like those frat parties he'd wasted his youth on. He hadn't planned on drinking so much if at all, but they wouldn't have let him leave early had he refused to drink. He cursed himself as he stumbled out of the lift with an apology he'd already drafted in his head. But then he stopped, feeling shocked and amused at the same time as he found his wife and his father sitting outside their flat, both were asleep, her head on his shoulder.

A cabin in the woods, private and preferably somewhere that’s not too hot and gets snow. That’s it. I’m not a hot weather person.
7. Who are you jealous of?
I don’t really think I’m jealous of anyone, I’ve never really been one to get truly jealous of someone. I’m pretty appreciative for what I have in life.
8. What’s your favorite show to binge?
NCIS and Criminal Minds.
9. Do you watch porn?
No. The concept of watching two absolute strangers screw one another isn’t appealing to me.
10. Do you have a secret sideblog?
Nope, I don’t see the point in it ig. That and I’d forget about it as well.
12. What’s one of your fantasies?
Fantasies?? Erotically? I don’t know. Normally? It’s more of a wish, but I want to find home.
Weirdly? I wish I could live a day in one of the games I play 😂
13. Do you have/would you get your nipples pierced?
Yep! One of the piercings I’m getting eventually will be nipple piercings.
14. How would you spend a million dollars?
I wouldn’t spend a million. I’d save and invest a lot of it, cliche I know but...? I’ve grown up in a family who lived paycheck to paycheck for the longest time, I don’t like the fear of not knowing if I’ll make it by this week or this month.
15. Are you in a relationship?
Yes 🥺💗 I’m with my gorgeous princess @andyl394
16. Do you follow porn blogs?
Most everyone I follow are writers or friends I’ve made, so unless someone’s converted to be a porn blog suddenly then no.
17. Are you angry with anyone right now?
Yes.
18. What tattoos do you want?
I want a few.
I want one dedicated to a mental health movement I’ve followed for awhile now that’s helped me with my mental health, I want one in dedication to my maternal nanny who passed away 2007, and one dedicated to my best friend who was killed in 9th grade.
19. If you could change your name, would you? What would you change it to?
I don’t think I would, honestly. 🤷🏻♀️

Other than the ones mentioned in #2: forensics, criminal justice, marine life (sharks especially), books, music (production and in general), and history.
21. Describe your best friend.
My best friend (currently, not my late best friend) is my emotional support dog. He’s a border collie jack russel mix, he loves to run and give hugs. He loves receiving kisses and insists to walk me around the house and the farm, because he’s super protective and sweet. He’s white with a few spots of brindle, a perfect teardrop shaped patch of brindle in the middle of his forehead is where he loves to receive kisses the most.
22. Tag someone you think is hot.
@andyl394
23. Who are five of your favorite bands/musical artists?
Knocked Loose
The Oh Hellos
Black Tiger Sex Machine
Girl in Red
AC/DC
24. What are three places you want to travel?
Japan, Alaska, Italy
25. Describe your perfect Friday night.
In private, maybe at home by myself or with someone I love. I’m not picky as long as it’s not really social, like public places. I have too much anxiety for that to be comfortable.
26. What’s your favorite season?
Winter
27. What’s your pet peeve?
Lying.
28. Who is the funniest person you know?
My brother, I think. He’s walking karma and it’s funny to me.
29. What’s the most overrated movie?
I’m not sure tbh, I don’t watch a lot of movies
30. Tag someone you want to talk to but have been too shy to message.
@asadmarveltrashbag
31. Do you like paper books or ebooks better?
I like both, but there’s a certain appeal to the smell of old books that’s always called me down— I spent a lot of time in libraries growing up.
32. If you could live in a fictional world, what world would you pick?
Ooh, this is tough. Either Marvel or Assassin’s Creed (odyssey specifically)
33. If money was no object, what would your wardrobe be like?
Very dark and soft textured. I love dark colors, black and dark green and blue especially.
34. What’s your coffee order?
If I actually go somewhere? Iced caramel macchiato or Blonde Caffe Americano.
35. Do you have a crush on anyone?
Other than my girlfriend @andyl394 , no.
36. Do you still have feelings for any of your exes?
Hell no, I have trauma from them— that’s it 👏🏻
37. Have any tattoos?
Sadly not yet
38. Do you drink?
Even though I’m 19, yes. I never get drunk though, I don’t see the point. I’ve grown up in the south, where it’s decently normal for a parent to let their kids try alcohol but never much. My dad is a single parent and said when I was 17, if I wanted to drink I could but there was two rules: 1) has to be at home or a TRUSTED friends house and I can’t go anywhere once I’ve drank something 2) no getting drunk until I’m of age
39. Are you a virgin?
This a little sensitive, but no— I didn’t lose it with consent.
40. Do you have a crush on any of your mutuals?
My girlfriend 🥺💗👏🏻
41. How many followers do you have?
There’s 187 people following my trash pile 🥺💗

🥺😩💗 it’s @andyl394 always her, she real gorgeous 🥺 (don’t mind me, she’s always right here 💗 in ma heart)
43. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Turning on Do Not Disturb sometimes so I don’t have to talk to people.
44. Do you read erotica?
If you count fanfiction smut (I say if because I seen a giant debate about if fanfic smut counted as erotica 🤷🏻♀️)
45. What’s the worst date you’ve ever been on?
I was forced to go on a date with a guy by my mother (😒) and he took me hunting. I don’t hate hunting, I grew up doing it. But this little boy got so mad when I tripped off on my own because he couldn’t hunt to save his life and at the end of the day I had pulled out a buck and two rabbits while he came out empty handed.
46. How many people do you follow?
182 amazing people
47. If you could marry any celebrity, who would you pick?
Elizabeth Olsen.
48. Describe your ideal partner.
I always find these questions so rude and appearance centered. I just want my partner to be communicative and respectful, that’s all I ask.
49. Who do you text the most?
My brother, @andyl394 , @fuzzy-cloud-head-queen , @nightunite , @breadgenie892
50. What’s your favorite kind of weather?
Wintery and Stormy weather, heavy rain/thunderstorms and snow.

Got My Number (Branjie) - Ashley
AN: The first night out after returning home for Easter break seems promising for Brooke. However, things take a turn when she drinks a little too much and bumps into her ex-girlfriend, Vanessa. (Normal text is present day and italics is the night they met)
Hello again! It seems that self isolation has brought me back to the world of fanfic to help me cope and I have a lot to catch up. Oh how I’ve missed everyone. Hope you enjoy some of my shitty writing. Sending multitudes of gratitude to Meggie for beta-ing. Love Ashley xoxo
“This game does not work when there’s only three of us.” Brooke finished off her drink, a crafty mixture of vodka, some blue alcopop and lemonade, before flicking the card in her best friend’s face.
“It’s not Nina’s fault we lost half of our group,” Yvie retaliated, never afraid to breach the most awkward and painful topics that others wouldn’t dare to mention.
Most wouldn’t have noticed the crack in Brooke’s face, for it only lasted a second, but it was still there nonetheless; big, gaping and ready to break backs.
“Wow-wow.” Nina raised her hands, her motherly nature taking centre stage. “I will not have any of this bickering on our first night out back home.”
“I’ve missed winding you two up.” Brooke grinned and held a hand out to each girl - grateful that they were still here for her when she returned home for Easter break, grateful that they had given her the kick up the arse she needed to go out and have fun, grateful for the support they had given her when she lost the crazy little flame that kept her candle lit.
“Reckon you’ll pull tonight then, Brooke?” Yvie nudged her friend with her shoulder, only to underestimate her strength and the amount her friend had drunk so far, sending Brooke toppling back onto the floor in a fit of giggles.
“I haven’t pulled since year 13 so I highly doubt it,” Brooke brushed her friend off, thinking of how much she used to love flirting and being free, of how quickly that had changed.
An all-knowing silence filled the air, everyone remembering the night that Brooke and Vanjie first got together.
Brooke poured herself another glass of the blue concoction - only this time without any lemonade.
“She doesn’t need to pull.” Nina raised a glass. “We can have fun as the three of us!”
“As long as all of us actually get in.” Yvie pointed an acrylic nail towards the blonde, who was starting to neck her drink as if she only had moments to live.
“I’m fine.” Brooke brushed off in the most unconvincing manner - the only logic in her brain being that the more she drank and the faster she did it the easier it would be to stop thinking about Vanjie for just one night.
Oh, how wrong that girl was.
***
Brooke could hear the clipping of her heels on the pavement as she rushed down towards the club, too sober to justify the five minute Uber journey. Probably too sober to be leaving in the first place after she had spent the hour she had to pre-drink removing and redoing her eyeliner until it was perfect without so much as tasting a sip of alcohol.
Nevertheless, she was ready to party, begging her beloved best friends to buy her a pitcher as she hurried to meet them. Ready to dance and forget all about her impending A-Levels - getting as many drinks for horny spice boys as she could simply through tossing her long hair over one shoulder and giving them the classic flirty Brooke wave.
Maybe she’d go home with one, maybe she wouldn’t.
About to tell Nina to make it two pitchers instead of one, she was stopped in her tracks by the sight of a shorty and sulky Latina talking to herself on the curb of the road.
Brooke didn’t know what it was that made her stop.
Maybe it was the tears in the girl’s eyes that she clung to despite gravity fighting for them to fall, maybe it was the frustration in her grizzly voice, maybe it was the way her red dress complimented her skin tone as if it were picked from a colour wheel just for her.
Maybe it was all of those things combined.
“Are you alright?” Brooke placed a tentative hand on the girls back.
“Brooke Lynn?” The girl looked up, drawing her cigarette away from her mouth as she took in the glamazonian blonde giant who towered above her. Sensing Brooke’s confusion she spoke again: “My friends are all in your year at sixth form: Silky, Akeria…”
“Oh.” A light dinged in Brooke’s head. “You’re the girl who got kicked out in the first week of term for-”
“Yes, that’s me.” The girl scrunched her face in frustration towards Brooke which made her want to giggle. “And I’m back there now, bitch, so don’t even.”
“Sorry, I’ll leave you be.” Brooke remembered her friends and the big jug of Purple Rain that had her name on it.
“Wait,” the girl called, her voice cracking with a plea of desperation, the sassy tone from before quickly dropped into the drain next to her along with the stub of her cigarette.
Brooke stopped in her tracks yet again. “Yeah?”
“Can you help me find my phone?”
***
Vanessa’s pulse began to beat in time with the music as she moved closer and closer towards the speaker, sacrificing the ringing of death she’d hear the next morning to go to speak to her girls.
Never the most articulate in school, Vanessa hadn’t expected to fall in love with University life the way she had this year. From the shopping trips to the bar crawls she had thrown herself into the experience headfirst - pushing her home and the girl she left behind as far away as she could by immersing herself in every activity, club, and night out she could partake in.
It was safe to say that this coping mechanism did not work when she was back at home; the walls around her holding a thousand or more memories of sloppy kisses and drunk dancing - closing in on her more and more till she was almost slapped across the face with the fact that her Nicholas Sparks romance had been cut short and never finished, the pages recycled into a much more lonely tale.
There was the spot where Brooke had pushed a rugby player almost clean off his feet for falling into Vanessa.
The sofa they sat on when glass slipped into her pump and Brooke had to bandage her up with blue roll and piggyback her all the way home.
The DJ who was sick to death of Vanessa requesting the first song she and Brooke had ever danced to every single Friday until he added into his queue automatically without her having to ask.
“Imma go for a smoke.” She motioned to the door - breaking her new year’s resolution that she’d managed to abide by for three whole months.
Scanning the crowd she quickly spotted a half-cute boy pulling a bag of baccy from his coat pocket.
Bingo.
The old Vanjie never got with strangers on nights out, never settled for someone she didn’t feel that spark with - you know, the one from all the teen romance movies. She was a romantic at heart.
That started to change after she broke up with Brooke; if the girl she loved more than anything in the world wasn’t going to give her The Notebook then nobody was.
She found herself sleeping with more people at Uni - the type of people who called her beautiful but wouldn’t make eye contact in the library the following week, but she didn’t even care, she wanted to be more like Brooke was: more carefree, more independent, taking a shard from the ice queen’s castle.
But it was never the same.
As much as the thought made her want to shove her own head in a blender at how cringe she was, Vanessa had learnt the difference between fucking and making love.
Before she knew it the boy was rolling the paper for her, her mouth autopiloting her conversation, the feeling of his arm around her simply a feeling - not warm, not cold, not uncomfortable, not loving.
Brooke would have probably told her off right now, making some sort of shady comment about how her voice didn’t need to get any deeper and she didn’t need to take any more years of her life, kissing her forehead after to let her know it was only in jest.
She told herself that those days were long gone. That the Brooke who worried about her, teased her and loved her was overshadowed by the Brooke who didn’t know how to be in a relationship.
The day they broke up popped into her body, a bitter taste making her skin crawl. The three
unanswered calls it had taken for her girlfriend to finally answer. The short blunt replies she received. The flirty comments left on Brooke’s photos by half of the netball team. The even flirtier replies Brooke would respond with.
“Sorry, Vanj, I’m just really hungover,” she remembered Brooke saying, the first time she’d heard her voice for a while. The words piercing her skin like a needle when she realised that her girlfriend had forgotten their anniversary, the presents she had sent clearly living with the porters instead of Brooke.
The final straw.
She remembered being shocked at herself when she said that she couldn’t do it anymore. But the words slipped out in anger and she was too stubborn to take them back.
She remembered the heavy sound of Brooke’s breathing when she hung up the phone - deleting her number and taking away every chance that she had to fight for her.
The sound of her defeated voice rang in her ear, only it took Vanessa a second to realise it wasn’t just in her memory.
***
“Are you sure she said she was in here?” Brooke gave Vanessa a pointed look as they stood on the outskirts of the dance floor, starting at the masses of people before them.
“She said she had my phone here and she had a blue top on,” Vanessa repeated, part of her finding entertainment in the way she was irritating the older girl.
“And you didn’t think to ask her name or anything else before she stopped answering your calls?”
“Sorry, mami.” Vanessa shrugged as she watched a layer of blush form on Brooke’s cheeks at her nickname. “We can ask the bouncer to do a shout out?”
Before she knew it Brooke had turned and began to dive her way through the crowd reaching back to hold Vanessa’s hand.
It could have been the dark fruits or her affinity for romance and fate acting up but Vanessa could have sworn their hands slotted together like lock and key.
She watched as Brooke took command of their path, pushing aside anyone who fell in Vanessa’s way before asking the DJ if he could make an announcement.
No luck.
Just as they were about to make their way back through the crowd, Vanessa heard the first beats of a familiar tune and squealed with excitement.
“This is my song! We have to dance!”
“What?” Brooke looked flabbergasted at the girl who had seemed to forget how upset she was at losing her phone and friends within five seconds of a pop song.
“Dance,” Vanessa told her, a command not a question.
Screaming the words she allowed the crowd to envelop Brooke and herself, watching a half-smile form on the other girls face at her tone-deaf screeching.
“This is horrendous,” Brooke spoke into Vanessa’s ear - the feel of her breath heightening every sense.
“You love it,” Vanessa responded, a form of confidence washing over her body telling her to put her arms around the blonde’s waist and move closer, dancing as two halves of one body, the pair of them their own entity.
“I’m sorry I ruined your night,” Vanessa half-shouted as the song ended.
“You haven’t,” Brooke responded without thought. “Why don’t we get pizza next door and try to ring again once the club shuts? I’m sure she’ll look at the phone then.”
“That sounds like heaven.”
***
“No!” Brooke tried to swat Nina’s hand away. “We need to go back in and have fun.”
“The bouncers told me that if I didn’t take you home then they would. C’mon Brooke, we can Uber it.”
“I’m not going.” Brooke sat herself down on one of the benches, almost getting her arm burned by the girl next to her.
“Well, you have to, it’s not up to me.” Nina wasn’t even mad at the way she had to baby her friend, knowing they would have a good laugh about it for the rest of the Easter holidays and maybe even a while after that.
“Fine.” Brooke pursed her lips and stood back up. “But you’re not coming with me, I want you to go in there and get yourself a shag. I know you fancy Bob’s sister. Do it for me, Nina, I’m living through you!”
“I’m coming with you, just let me find Yvie.”
“Nooooooo.”
At that moment a familiar voice snapped Brooke’s eyes into a clearer vision.
There she was. Her devil in a leopard print jumpsuit.
“I’ll look after her.” Vanessa placed a friendly hand on Nina’s arm, missing the way her friendship group had been torn apart since their breakup. Regretting the way she cut off every and any link to the girl she was in love with.
“Oh hi.” Nina smiled awkwardly, pausing before asking Vanessa if she was sure.
“You’re not real.” Brooke opened her mouth at the girl before closing it again. “Your Uni shuts a week later. You can’t trick me, I Googled it.”
That’s when Brooke saw the smile.
The cheeky grin that showed off almost every single tooth Vanessa owned. The smile she would wake up to that told her that everything in the world would be just fine. Nothing in the world made her feel happier than that smile - she didn’t know why the sight of it made tears start to roll down her face but it did.
“Strikes.” Vanessa started to wipe Brooke’s tears away as though she were a paper doll, Brooke unable to read the emotion on her face. “Your Mam’s gonna kill you if you go home like this. Let’s get some food in you, yeah?”
***
“I remember seeing you at a house party before, Silky’s birthday,” Vanessa started after swallowing the world’s biggest mouthful of pepperoni pizza and garlic sauce, a tiny bit sticking to her lips.
Brooke wiped it off by instinct, not stopping to question why she felt so close to a girl she had only just met.
“Is that so?” Brooke asked, assuming that the girl was chatting drunk shit like she often did when she wanted to impress someone.
“Aha,” Vanjie nodded, “You were wearing this white lacy dress and I remember thinking you looked like a ballerina. And then you were sick in the kitchen sink and the bendy girl got annoyed at you but I remember thinking that she wasn’t doing a good job at holding your hair back and I could have done better.”
Brooke placed the slice of pizza she was about to bite into back into the box, amazed at how the ditzy girl had managed to remember her so well.
“Not my finest hour.” Brooke laughed.
“Tonight hasn’t been mine.” The girl laughed back, her brain slipping into a more sober state.
Her laugh sounded like a car alarm. Brooke wanted to put it in a jar and have it wake her up on lazy mornings.
“I’m sure you can repay me at some point.” Brooke smiled - Vanessa’s grin an infectious curse that you couldn’t help but surrender to.
“Bitch, I just bought you half of this pizza!”
“I meant in other ways.”
Normally Brooke would blame it on the drink. The longing to have someone’s body, the longing to hold them, even the longing to simply spend time with them. But right then she was stone cold and wanted nothing more than to spend the next day, the day after then and every day that followed listening to Vanessa chat shit and tease her.
“I taste of garlic,” Vanessa blurted out to the girl, her no-filter mouth spilling out the first panic that came to her mind at the thought of kissing the beautiful blonde creature in front of her.
“I mean, so do I.” Brooke laughed and moved closer to the girl, forgetting about the world around them and feeling her soft cheek against her palm.
Before she was snapped back to reality by a phone call. The phone call she had waited all night for that she now wished had never come.
“Cockblock.” Vanessa laughed before grabbing Brooke’s phone and aggressively interrogating the girl on the other end.
***
“Feeling better?” Vanessa asked her ex-girlfriend/first love/girl she was certainly still in love with as she waited for her to swallow her mouthful of pizza, surprised at how easily she had fallen back into being with her.
“A little,” Brooke responded, not meeting her eyes properly.
“You want me to take you back now?” Vanessa asked, figuring that sitting with her was the last thing Brooke wanted to do now, whether she’d bought her food or not.
“Not yet.” Brooke took a large swig from the Diet Coke Vanessa had bought her, finally meeting her eyes. “I wanna chat about David.”
Vanessa felt a lilt of panic rise in her body.
Had Brooke found a new boyfriend?
She shouldn’t be jealous - she broke up with her, she had slept around. But the thought of someone else running their hands through Brooke’s hair and planting her sloppy kisses made some form of heat rise up through her chest into her throat.
“David?” she managed to choke out - the hardest two syllables she’d ever had to conjure.
“Yeah, David. Shona dumped him!” Brooke slurred a little, turning to face Vanessa for the first time since they sat down in the shop.
“You hate Corrie.” Vanessa started to laugh at the thought of Brooke spending however long watching the soap. “You used to say it was a load of utter shite - the bane of your Friday night!”
“I do.” Brooke nodded in agreement. “But it makes me think of you.”
Something about the thought of her ex-girlfriend sitting down three nights a week to watch a show she despised just because it reminded her of their time together managed to warm and break Vanessa’s heart simultaneously.
“Well.” Vanessa looked at her, really looked at her. “I’m sad David and Shona aren’t together anymore. Even though he was a dick to her and didn’t really treat her right, I wish she’d given him more of a chance to work at it instead of running scared.”
“You’re right, he was a dick.” Brooke looked back, her almost grey eyes showing a maturity that Vanessa hadn’t seen during their relationship. “Maybe when I’m sober we can talk about how much he still loves her. But how he knows now that that’s not everything, he knows he needs to appreciate her. I know I need to appreciate you.”
And Vanessa knew that it wasn’t perfect. She knew that both of them would have to try, that The Notebook had its own ups and downs to get to the good bit. She knew there was more talking to be done, more apologies to be given on both of their behalfs. But right then she wanted to forget about that and simply kiss the girl she loved and missed.
In the movies, the big romantic moment always happened somewhere beautiful. Cady kissed Aaron in the middle of the dancefloor with that stupid crown on her head. Noah kissed Ali in the rain next to a swan filled lake. Cher kissed Josh in the perfect centre of that ornate staircase.
Vanessa wouldn’t have given up their tiny bench in a greasy takeaway table for any of that because Brooke’s lips simply felt like home.
“Ugh.” She grimaced away after, looking away from Brooke.
“Oh, erm, sorry. I thought… ” Brooke responded, a panicked look crossing her face.
“Garlic.” Vanessa put a hand to her mouth and grinned, a sense of warmth coming to her at the thought of being able to wind Brooke up again just like she used to, watching her face change when she realised Vanessa’s joke and swatted her arm.
“You little bitch. I actually believed you there.” Brooke laughed before pulling Vanessa in for one more kiss regardless. A kiss that she’d later think about as the second-best kiss of her life.
“Let’s get you in a taxi.” Vanessa read the looks of the staff behind the counter and grabbed Brooke’s hand.
“Are we gonna talk in the morning?” Brooke asked hopefully, scared that drunken words may have turned into regret on Vanessa’s behalf.
“You’ve got my number.”
***
“So, thanks again for helping me find this.” Vanessa looked down at her phone.
Three minutes till her Uber arrived.
“It’s fine.” Brooke brushed her off. “I probably would have had a shit night in the club anyway. At least I got some pizza out of it.”
“Yeah.” Vanessa laughed, letting an awkward silence linger. “Two minutes.”
“Oh,” Brooke said looking at the phone then back at Vanessa, a train of thought clearly chugging through her brain that was too fast for Vanessa to capture.
“Fuck it.”
She threw her arm around the back of Brooke’s head in one fell swoop, letting her other hand caress her cheek as they kissed.
Brooke was taken aback at first, but soon Vanessa felt her hand on the curve of her back and felt the girl’s body almost melt into her own.
“Oh shit.” Vanessa heard the phone ring and looked next to her to see her Uber waiting. “Cockblocked again.”
Brooke laughed as Vanessa squeezed her hand and started to make her way towards the car. “I’ll text you in the morning?” she shouted after the girl who had just given her the best kiss of her life, more of a needy question than a statement.
“You’ve got my number,” Vanessa winked before closing the door and blowing a kiss to Brooke, thinking about how the story of her night would make the best teen romance movie.
