Notes: reader is gender neutral, has a hydro vision and is a blue oni due to recessive genes and all in ittos part, reader knows both kaveh and alhaitham from the academia in their separate parts and is a researcher for the academia AND is roommates with kaveh and alhaitham but they come and go because they go all around teyvat... Blablabla let's get started (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠).

It's my first time writing, English isn't my first language, characters aren't lovers yet but it takes that route somehow, enjoy :)

ITTO

Inazuma's sky was a tapestry of darkening hues, with the sun dipping below the horizon, casting long shadows across the vibrant landscape.

You had recently arrived in Inazuma, seeking to understand more about your heritage as a blue oni after going and tracking your family lineage and figuring out Inazuma could be a good head start.

To your luck (?) you met Yae Miko and she took interest in you because of your unique looks that people don't see everyday, or at least these present times they don't, with her sly smile, suggested you meet Arataki Itto, as she explained that he leads a gang and all you were visibly concerned as he seemed troublesome but when she mentioned he was a fellow oni you somewhat relaxed and understood why him exactly.

The meeting was nothing short of electrifying. Itto’s enthusiasm was infectious, and he immediately took you under his wing, thrilled to have found another oni, he talked and talked, bragged about his horns and compared them to yours.

And as you walked through the streets of Inazuma, Itto regaled you with tales of his adventures and avoided his misadventures but clearly he was a very bad liar, you two passed time and he decided he totally had to introduce you to his gang, so y'all began looking for them here and there.

But the evening took a sudden turn when you encountered a group of Abyss Order members. Itto, always eager for a fight, drew his weapon with a grin. You summoned your Hydro vision, water swirling around you as you prepared to defend yourself.

The battle was fierce, the Abyss mages casting dark spells while you and Itto fought back with ferocity. In the midst of the chaos, a mage’s attack broke through your defenses, especially that you were trying to focus on your charged attack, the mage came through and as he was using the electro element it caused a reaction between you two and as much as you protected the side of your stomach was hurt badly, pain eating all your senses and crushing your stability, you fell into the ground holding where you were hurt while trying to recover fast before anything more happened.

“No!” Itto screamed as he was fighting the abyss Heralds , filled with rage and concern. He charged forward, dispatching the remaining enemies with a flurry of powerful serious blows on the contrary of his nature. When the last of the Abyss Order was defeated, he rushed to your side, worry etched on his face, his joyous usual unserious expression wiped of his face, he held your face looking for traces of life on it, and then he averted his gaze down where your holding yourself as he pushed your arms aside softly he saw the bruising and he felt a mix of complex emotions such as fury and worry and sadness.

“Hang in there, buddy,” he said, his voice uncharacteristically soft. “We’ll get you fixed up in no time.” he tried to smile to encourage you, he helped you get up but seeing how unstable you were although you were persistent on being okay, he lifted you in his arms in bridal style.

Itto carried you back to the city, his strength making the journey swift. He took you to a healer, staying by your side as they treated your wounds. Despite the pain, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of belonging, knowing that you had a friend who would protect you no matter what, but at the same time you contemplated whether to ask the healer about the strange beating in your heart, but that wasn't a thing until Itto touched your face softly and it increased when he lifted you, is something wrong and is it because of the injury or what?

You wondered, you seemed out of it so he called out "you with us buddy?" As you came back to reality you looked at him bashfully as you cursed yourself at your strange actions right now, but you decided to brush it off.

Alhaitham

The Akademiya was a distant memory, but its shadows still lingered in your life. You and Alhaitham had grown from rivals to reluctant allies, as y'all grew up and see it all as a silly past and just your time as teenagers, now sharing an apartment in Sumeru, y'all were close... Very close and everyone noticed that but only you two seemed oblivious that y'all acted like a married couple most of the time. Your role as a researcher kept you constantly on the move, and Alhaitham often joined you on these expeditions, his knowledge and analytical mind proving invaluable, you guys lived together because you didn't see a need to get a whole apartment for yourself if you're constantly here and there, and alhaitham didn't mind your company. He totally doesn't enjoy you being around and hopes for your researching to be in semuru most of the time, ooh you totally don't make his house feel like a home in addition to kaveh :P.

Once, his deep dark (?) wishes totally did become true and you were doing your job in semuru, surprisingly he was reading books in that field and decided to accompany you, according to him he has to see if the contenf of the books was reliable because they were old and there was little to no knowledge capsules about it, such journey led you deep into the Sumeru rainforest, where you were investigating the unique properties of the local flora. Alhaitham was beside you, his calm demeanor a stark contrast to the vibrant chaos of the jungle. As you meticulously cataloged your findings, an ominous rustling drew your attention.

Without warning, a band of treasure hoarders emerged, eyes gleaming with greed. They had heard rumors of your discoveries and wanted them for themselves, seeing them hurling in your direction Alhaitham reacted instantly, his Dendro vision activating as he created barriers to protect you both.

The fight was intense, with the treasure hoarders pressing their advantage. You used your Hydro vision to fend them off, and although it was a great combanation with alhaithams and created hyper blooms, they outnumbered y'all and only focused on you as a target so it was significantly hard to keep up, a well-aimed strike from a hoarder’s blade found its mark, cutting through your defenses and leaving a deep gash on your arm.

Alhaitham’s expression darkened, his usually composed features although he's not very expressive a visible fury was taking over his face, and instead of defences he harshly attacked. He dispatched the attackers with a series of precise, devastating blows. When the last of them lay defeated, he turned to you, his hands gentle as he inspected your wound.

“You should have been more careful,” he said, his voice tinged with a rare softness. “We need to get you treated immediately. Let's take you to tighnari and see what we can do, he's surely around the corner”

Despite the pain, you managed a weak smile. “You sound like you care.”

Alhaitham rolled his eyes, but his concern was evident. “Of course, I care. Let’s get back to the city.” he stopped your bleeding by wrapping a cloth tightly around your injured arm and in one swift motion he lifted you as if you were weightless.

The journey back was a blur, with Alhaitham supporting you every step of the way. Arriving at tighnari's, he meticulously treated your injury, alhaitham joining for help and to support you during the quick operation, his hands steady and sure. As you rested, you realized that beneath his aloof exterior, Alhaitham truly cared for you, a bond forged in the fires of shared adversity. You felt a blush coming and blooming in your cheeks and as the two showed concern you played it off ”ah, probably a fever, maybe that blade was infected?” but you shouldn't have said that, as now tighnari is going to run more tests and alhaitham is gonna be close for a longer time.

Life with Kaveh was never dull. The architect’s passion for his work often led him into interesting—and sometimes dangerous—situations. You, once rivals in the Akademiya, had grown close, now sharing an apartment (under the "mercy" of alhaitham) and frequently crossing paths in your respective careers, you were a researcher, and as one of kavehs greatest and closest friends, that only know about his living situation with alhaitham as you were the same although you payed your rent.

You often inspired him, by your findings and your journeys, you were like an long time open book helping him to never run out from inspiration, and in return he'd share his thoughts on the riddles and the origins of your findings, analyzing the patterns and all, and although y'all could just somehow catch alhaitham in a good mood and free and ask him, it was way fun and it was a great route of passing time.

One day, Kaveh was commissioned to deliver a custom design to a client in the bustling city of Port Ormos. Ever the perfectionist, he had poured his heart into the project, and you decided to accompany him for support. The sun was setting as you arrived at the meeting point, a shadowy alley that immediately put you on edge. You clenched your fist just in case, as your other hand held your sword in a way that wasn't visible for the other party, your vision dimly illuminating that Alley.

As Kaveh presented his work, the supposed clients revealed their true intentions. They were scammers, seeking to steal his designs and leave him empty-handed. Before he could react, they attacked, intent on taking everything.

Kaveh fought back with surprising tenacity, using his knowledge to his advantage in his fighting style. You summoned your Hydro vision, creating barriers of water to protect him. But in the chaos, and in your focus on their target, your dear friend, one of the scammers landed a blow on you instead, as they didn't care for who is the actual target and with who they were doing business, leaving you wounded.

“No!” Kaveh shouted, his eyes wide with fear and anger. He knocked the assailant away, his normally gentle demeanor replaced by fierce determination. “You’ll regret this!”

With a final, desperate push, you and Kaveh drove the scammers off. Panting and bloodied, Kaveh rushed to your side, his hands trembling as he checked your wound. “You’re hurt… I should have been more careful.”

“It’s not your fault,” you reassured him, wincing as pain flared. “We need to get back and treat this.” he said.

Kaveh helped you to your feet, his support unwavering as you made your way back to the city. Once home, he carefully tended to your injury, his touch filled with guilt and concern. “I’m so sorry,” he murmured, his voice breaking. “I never wanted you to get hurt because of me.”

You reached out, taking his hand. “We’ve been through worse, Kaveh. I’m just glad we’re both okay.” you smiled lightly to reassure him, the injury wasn't that bad but he clearly felt guilty as he thought it was all because of him.

As the night wore on, the pain faded, replaced by the comforting presence of your very close friend. Kaveh’s usual cheer slowly returned, his worry giving way to relief. In that moment, you quietly admired him, how his hair framed his face ever so perfectly, how he smiled and reacted to alhaithams teasing, and how he gently tended to your needs and how soft his touch was on your skin, it seems like you're yet to figure out why you became so aware of everything concerning him, and the weird pace your heart is beating at, but you just thanked the dendro archon for the safety of everyone silently in your heart, as you tried to brush off the million thoughts that are running around in your head and took a glass of liquor to toast with your friends.

Interlude: Between wind and stone.

As you walk along the trail you couldn’t help but feel like someone’s watching you. You shake off the feeling and keep on your way.

“You won’t be welcomed in Liyue descender.” You hear a voice call from behind you. You turn around and see Dainsleif walk towards you.

“Every freaking time.” You pout. “I was promised hot dudes and mommy milkers, and yet twice now people have been hostile towards me.”

“You should go back to whatever forsaken land you came from and leave Teyvats people alone.”

“I can’t. I don’t know how. Honestly I’d love to listen to you, I have family, friends and a promising future back home. So far everyone has been very hostile towards me. There’s really no reason for me to want to stay. Yet I still can’t leave.”

“Follow me. There’s old manuscripts in the abyss that might help you get home.”

“Why should I trust you?”

Dainsleif sighs and pulls you closer by your hips. “If you be good and listen I’ll reward you.” You blush at his actions but quickly think of a comeback.

“Can I choose the reward?” You smile slyly,  not unlike a fox bearing its teeth and taunting its prey.

“No. You get a kiss.”

“Can you at least kiss me on the lips?”

“Fine.”

“For a whole minute.” You stipulate.

“5 seconds.” He argues.

“45 seconds.”

“6 seconds.”

“Hey! Fine 44 seconds.”

“5 seconds.”

“You can’t-! Fine, how about 10 seconds?” You pout. 

“Deal.” He finally agrees. He takes your hand and takes you through the abyss. At one point he has to fend off a horde of enemies and he just picks you up and carries you bridal style.

‘Is this going to be a normal thing? People just carrying me away without my permission?’ You think as he runs through this labyrinth of halls.

Finally we get to the library he mentions and he puts me down. We walk through and search for the books and manuscripts and texts we might need. The way Dain studies the books is so mesmerizing. He gets lost in them, you disappearing from his thoughts. 

10 minutes in you hear a noise coming from down the hall so you sneak away only to find a hydro slime bouncing towards you bring you a sunsettia and some cooked fowl. The small slime stops at your feet and bounces in front of you. “Is this for me?” The spine nuzzles your leg in a sign of approval as you take the food and pet the little dear. “Thanks.”

 You walk back towards the blond and he doesn’t even look up as he remarks, “You should be more careful around them.”

“Aren’t they your people? Why are you so hostile towards them?”

“I’m not hostile, but I don’t think that you should just go around eating everything that strangers give you.”

“Newsflash: I don’t exactly have a vision, I don’t have any mora, and I don’t have a weapon. Taking handouts is the only way I’ll be able to survive.”

“You’re supposed to have powers untold.”

“Well, I don’t. I’m a college student who’s studying computer science and engineering. I got sucked in here because I found Kate Kaslana and she got pissed at me.”

“Once you get back home you can make up as much as you want. ‘Computer’ what a ridiculous word.” Dain rolls his eyes. He grabs the book he’s reading and grabs some chalk. Then he draws a circle and a slightly smaller circle inside of the original, and finally draws symbols in between the two.

“Is this a transfiguration circle?”

“Transportation circle, actually.”

“I’m really going home.” You smile. “Hey before you finish I get my kiss.” You demand.

“I suppose that’s fair.” He gets up and takes your face in his hands. He then leans down and meets his lips with yours. You close your eyes and enjoy yourself. You put your hands on his broad chest and run them over his torso. Then, as quickly as it began, it ended. 

“That was so nice.”

“Um… glad you thought so. Now time for you to go.”

“I don’t think so.” A deep gravely voice calls for the entrance. The two of you jump back in surprise and see an Abyss Herald. “You’ve foiled our plans for far too long Dainsleif. It’s our turn to get the drop on you!” He charges in, grabs you, holds you under his arm and makes a run for it through a portal.

Theory: Kaeya's Vision was Given to Him by The Sinner and his Vision Gives us a Major Hint as to The Sinner's Identity.

can we talk about kaeya's vision? i've been dying to talk about kaeya's vision again.

(spoilers for everything up until 4.2)

good news, we finally got some more insight on what visions are! according to neuvilette's character story, when a person's desire reaches the heavens, archons are dutybound to put aside a shard of their mastery for them. this "mastery" originally belongs to the seven sovereigns.

To continue to subdue and control the resentments and loathing of the world, the usurper and one who came after created the Gnoses together. So it came to be that an order was made to be upheld, and thus did humans come to only possess these seven remembrances, and all fragments of the primordial were driven to devour each other. From that day on, whenever a person's wishes reached the heavens, the seven overseers of the material realm were duty-bound to grant them a gift. Though they might know nothing of who or what wish had stepped into the threshold of the sacred, the Seven Archons still had to impart a shattered shard of their mastery to that person.

after focalors destroyed the throne of the hydro archon, neuvilette gained complete authority over the hydro element. because he's a nice guy, he decided to also put aside some of his mastery to grant visions to people.

furina is one such person.

here's the cool part; her vision looks different from other fontainians. the decoration combines ousia and pneuma elements and there are four little fangs holding the vision in place.

KAEYA'S VISION

that brings me back to the conundrum that is kaeya's vision. before furina, he was the only character with a vision that deviated from the norm.

there are two unique oddities about his standard vision: it's missing two wings; the strings on the back are on the other side: this is an indication that it's mirrored.

(for simplicity's sake i will ignore the vision on his other outfit since it's essentially modified to match zosimos' design.)

what if kaeya's situation is similar to furina's? and i'm not just talking about their never-ending masquerade… what if his vision was granted by someone else?

WHY ARE THE STRINGS ON THE RIGHT SIDE?

i have briefly talked about this before but mirrors are associated with the abyss. this lead me to believe that it's possible that kaeya's vision might have been given by the abyss/the sinner.

note how the strings on furina's gem also switch sides when she changes from pneuma to ousia. (pneuma (light) on the left and ousia (dark) on the right.)

it's relatively common knowledge by now that kaeya's kit shares similarities with abyss mages and heralds and that many khaenri'ahns were turned into abyssal creatures, (possibly due to them being in a similar situation as jakob ingold who possessed a "bit of the dark cold cosmos's power").

Paimon: And you said the people turned into monsters... You're trying to tell Paimon that the Abyss Order is not only related to Khaenri'ah but is actually the people of Khaenri'ah themselves!?

with the new information given, this theory seems more plausible. if neuvilette can give out visions, why not mr. purple crystal as well? if wishes can reach the "heavens", couldn't they also reach the abyss? we saw the crystal respond to clothar's praying and display a bit of creepy omniscience so you know it's powerful.

WHY IS THE VISION MISSING WINGS?

consider that the fangs on furina's vision is neuvilette's tongue-in-cheek way of hinting at him being a dragon, as his own personal touch. then could clipped wings hint towards the identity of whoever gave kaeya his vision? what do clipped wings indicate? fallen angels. what's a fallen angel? a sinner. 😏💯

Fallen angels are angels who were expelled from heaven. The literal term "fallen angel" does not appear in any Abrahamic religious texts, but is used to describe angels cast out of heaven or angels who sinned. Such angels often tempt humans to sin.

fun fact, the abyss mages are always chanting in ENOCHIAN which is popularized as the language of the angels.

The script for this language appears while Abyss Mages are chanting to regenerate their shields as well as over their heads when performing spells outside of combat. […] The script also appears in the yellow protective runes around the weak points of Automatons, where the mirrored glyphs for B, L, and G circle around the core. Ruin Guards are known to have been made by the people of Khaenri'ah, many of whom turned into "monsters of the Abyss," so this script was possibly used in Khaenri'ah as well.

way back in the first archon quest, an abyss mage speaks to kaeya in enochian. it's significant enough that they give us a subtitle to imply kaeya can understand this angelic language; we have been shown he knows other ancient languages as well, like the language of the hilichurls and a strange script in the manga.

Kaeya: There's no way hilichurls organized an ambush like this themselves — not with their limited mental capacity... Kaeya: Thus YOU were behind this. Hydro Abyss Mage: Gohus, Chiso Vonph.

perhaps a reach but kaeya has one giant wing on his outfit, possibly a reference to the most famous video game villain in history, sephiroth, the one-winged angel?

this one is not a reach because kaeya also owns a book called the adventures of angelos. angelos is from greek ἄγγελος which means angel.

Between the pages of "The Adventures of Angelos," you find a list of names written on a sheet of official Knights of Favonius letterhead paper.

a book named angel containing a list of names, just to show the traveler he has eyes everywhere is a little on the nose if you ask me.

*edit: i forgot to include the most obvious hint, kaeya's favorite hangout: angel's share. and in the book of revelation there is a star or angel that fell to earth known as wormwood, (apsinthion in greek), which is the name of a plant used to make absinthe, which in turn is thee main ingredient of death (in the) afternoon, kaeya's favorite drink. dainsleif also likes this drink.

Wormwood (ἀψίνθιον apsinthion or ἄψινθος apsinthos in Greek) is a star or angel which appears in the Book of Revelation.

another fun fact, nabu malikata's last name malikata, besides meaning queen, could also mean angels.

In Islam, angels (Arabic: ملاك٬ ملك‎, romanized: malāk; plural: ملائِكة‎, malāʾik/malāʾikah) are believed to be heavenly beings.

nabu malikata is a survivor of the seelie race who were abandoned by the heavens; they are heavily implied to be angels. she is also the originator of the jinn. huh, i wonder why kaeya gifted us a seemingly random lamp which is said to have housed a powerful jinni...

all this is pointing to the sinner being a fallen angel which makes sense since the archons have demonic names from the ars goetia, it stands to reason that higher abyssal beings should have angelic names.

in islam, there is a fallen angel named iblis who had four wings (like kaeya's vision) and who was chained up in the deepest part of hell (like the sinner), whose original name was azazil. khaenri'ah has some ties to arabic mythology, so who knows? this is just one possibility. interestingly enough, the names of four of the archangels ARE referenced in mona's magic circle but not azazil.

the interesting part about the crystal is that he denies being a god and addresses the traveller as "creature"… there has been some speculation that the dragon king nibelung is the sinner, but we honestly don't have enough information to make that leap.

**edit: the domain we find the sinner in is located inside the chasm. thousands of years ago, back when zhongli was still young, an entity known as the sun or solar chariot fell to teyvat forming the chasm. this was during the time the moon sisters fell.

according to one legend, they refer to the entity as a fallen star. the star stayed in the chasm until the archon war, but before it returned to the sky it permanently left a piece of itself behind.

also, the sinner's domain has enkanomiyan statues and architecture. in enkanomiya, there is an achievement you can get called phosphorus' guidance, which you get by following seelies. phosphorus is the greek name for the morning star. the latin name for the morning star is lucifer, now best known as the name of a fallen angel.

The Ancient Greeks called the morning star Φωσφόρος, Phosphoros, the "Bringer of Light". Another Greek name for the morning star was Heosphoros, meaning "Dawn-Bringer".

dawn-bringer, you say? reminds me of the harbinger of dawn kaeya gives you in the very beginning of the game. what are you trying to tell us, bud?

lastly, the traveler notes the upside down defiled statue of the anemo archon is similar to the sinner. the statue, of course, has wings. it's funny because when we meet kaeya for the very first time, it's in front of the anemo god statue in front of the cathedral... notably, both dainsleif, and kaeya in his hangout route do not go inside the cathedral.

Kaeya: Perfect. (Traveler), why don't you head into the Cathedral and invite Sister Barbara to join us? I'll look for another friend who's interested in helping us.

Dainsleif: When a non-believer steps onto holy ground, the result is never pretty.

WHY DOES THE VISION HAVE A MONDSTADT CASING?

khaenri'ah was outside of the rule of the seven, hidden from the gaze of the gods. we don't know yet if in days of old khaenri'ahns could receive visions but we do have dainsleif's character card to give us a clue.

The listed name of his Vision's element, as announced on his Chinese Character Card, is a set of indecipherable symbols.

so dainsleif does have a vision; it's just that it has manifested as something else, possibly because unlike kaeya-seemingly a normal human-he is cursed.

in any case, we've seen wanderer receive a complete sumeru vision despite not even being from there and arlecchino has a shneznayan casing despite loving her homeland fontaine. (although there might be some other shit going on with her.)

this means vision casings are tied to the region the receiver is in and has nothing to do with where a person is born. if neuvilette were to gift someone from outside fontaine a hydro vision, they would receive a casing from the region they're in. fontainians have pneuma or ousia alignments but arlecchino's shneznayan vision has no indication of what she is aligned with. though again, arlecchino is not a normal human being, who knows what's going on there.

Along with Divinity: Prologue [...] we should be conscious of the fact that what shapes our thinking, logic, culture, philosophy and aesthetics is not the archons themselves, but the objective environment that exists around us. This world around us is what we have inherited, and what this book shows is that the people of Teyvat have always been, and always will be, heirs to a divine legacy — but not to divinity itself.

(also thought it was pretty interesting how capitano calls the gnosis, the gnosis from inazuma instead of "the electro gnosis" or the "gnosis from the electro archon".)

The dead treasure hoarder was in the same pose as the hillichurls worshipping that thingy in sumeru later on, I've forgotten what it was just thought it was cool. Might just be Genshin default dead pose though lmao

Also. Lumine using Aether as a name??? Idk they could've used brother and sister and nobody would've batted an eye, thinking of fma lol, so I'm making note incase it's relevant because it felt so weird???

anyway, fontaine world quests spoilers, but since Elynas is now my favorite sweet child, here is a little summary\speculations in case ppl mb did not catch some details from the quests and about abyss lore:

Elynas is the monster from the Abyss, some kind of dragon or a serpent. He is gigantic and Elynas island basically formed around him.

He existed in "cosmic cold", i.e. Abyss, until "Mother" summoned him and his "siblings". We know from the logs of fontaine fleet which was following "great beast Elynas" that he appeared during the cataclysm 500 years ago. As we know, Rhinedottir was known to open portals to Abyss that let abyss monsters in, so logically, Elynas was one of these, and "Mother" is most likely Rhinedottir and siblings are other monsters summoned.

Like other Rhine's creation, Durin, Elynas was actually very good natured and didn't wish to harm anyone, but apparently his abyssal origin made him see the world differently and the actions he thought were harmless, were in fact destructive to this world. Spoilers for "Book of Esoteric knowledge", in the domain at the end of this quest we learn that Melusines see places corrupted by abyss not as ruined, but as a beautiful garden and abyssal rifthounds as friendly puppies. And in fact, after we fight rifthound here, it also turns into a friendly dog, hinting that ALL abyss monsters are well-natured, but there is some kind of warp going on that shifts their perspective\actions when they enter Teyvat into being destructive, while they see it completely differently.

after some time, Elynas realized that he was in fact, damaging the world around him, which saddened him greatly and he intentionally sought death to stop suffering of others. He was killed most likely by the fontaine fleet that followed him which i mentioned before, but its not stated directly. He died, but his consciousness still lingered and he is basically aware of his body and whats going on around.

After his death, he didn't rot, but calcified, and apparently many factions, including abyss order, Narzissenkreuz Institute and "spirit of primordial waters" (oceanid? hydro dragon?) explored his body and were collecting his blood and flesh, for which he was glad bc he felt lonely and liked to have company. Especially he liked Narzissenkreuz's Jakob, bc he felt the presence of same cold cosmic power (i.e. abyss) in him and so thought that consuming his flesh will be good for him. Jakob as we know, turned into "Inquitous Baptist" after this, but Narzissenkreuz drama is a different story. But we can at least intuit that one way of turning into abyss lectors\heralds\etc is consuming abyss monsters flesh\blood, btw hey Childe, can we have a word of how you got your foul legacy form? did u eat that whale, Childe???

At some point, there was a battle between former friends from Narzissenkreuz Institute inside of Elynas (mentioned before as Narzissenkreuz drama), which led to huge explosion. As result of this, wounds inside of Elynas were opened by explosions, and Melusines were created from them. Elynas was delighted, thought of them as his children and shaped them into what he thought was a beautiful form. They could hear him telepathically at first and he used this to guide and teach them, but with time, most of them lost this ability. The only one who can still hear him, Mamere, is able to do so because she paints with his blood (she doesn't know its his blood ofc), and so has prolonged contact with him. He still loves them and cares for them deeply.

Jakob tried to restart Elynas' heart with unknown goal, but Elynas didn't want to come back to life, stating that doing so would mean he will keep harming the world, which he doesn't want to. He appeared to traveler in the spirit form in a shape of Melusine bc he thinks they are cute:3 He dreams of being able to exist in the world without damaging it and to show traveler his true form eventually

i did not yet find all 13 pages for "Book of Esoteric Knowledge" quest, so here is probs more info to follow, but I think this is overall what we know of Elynas for now

oh, another thing is that every Melusine was born with a "token", which they don't know what it is, but highly treasure. Elynas doesn't mention them. This token can power a mechanical dog tho and dog calls it "power source". Elynas does mention many "mechanical animals" in the battle that resulted in explosion, so mb these power sources from exploded mechanisms interacting with abyss flesh were the triggers for creation of Melusines? Open question for now, hope to have these Eldritch NFTs explained later

i have a theory. a genshin theory. a venti theory.

spoilers for entire game up to now.

In the finale of the most recent archon quest, focalors returns the power of the hydro throne to neuvilette. when he did his cool hydro thing to save the people of fontaine his little hair tails got longer and he looked a bit more hydro dragony

In the finale of the Mondstadt Archon quest, Dvalin gets a similar upgrade in appearance after saving the gang from falling to their deaths.

okay, so you know what i'm getting at here. so, let's establish some things.

neuvilette is the hydro dragon sovereign,

the dragons who are also known vishaps, were the previous civilization of tevat before the descenders and humans

in the 3.1 livestream Enjou (the abyss herald from enko) referred to dvalin as a vishap

dvalin has been around for about 2000 years, helping venti with mond

therefore, for this theory, it can be inferred that Dvalin is a potential new anemo dragon sovereign

but why do i think that venti was able to give Dvalin the power of the anemo throne back, like focalors did for neuvilette

the answer has to do with venti's trickster tendencies, forgery abilties, and his connection to the god of time.

so here's a quick rundown of the venti stuff:

he's a liar and trickster who tends to redirect most conversations hes in (watch any cut scene he's in)

he's known for forging things, from Morax's signature, to the Holy Lyre at the end of the mond archon quest

in Venti's trailer it is said he is "full of mystery, born from the branches of time, a history of glory and sorrow, a witness to the divine"; he also says is one of the thousand winds, the thousand winds is an epithet for the god of time; venti and the god of time were worshipped together at the thousand winds temple; venti used anemo powers to draw memories from the past during ludi harpastrum; and although he tends to be humble as a god, he does brag that there is not a song he doesn't know, past, present, or future; there is so much more

so, when focalors gives the hydro throne power back to neuvilette, it's in the shape of a watery orb. in the mond quest, as the gang is leaving old monstadt on the back of dvalin, venti sends an anemo power orb to dvalin, causing dvalin to light up all anemo and state "is this... the power of the anemo archon?" and questions it, venti responding that he is giving him proper freedom.

okay but it took focalors a lot of work to trick celestia and gather power to destroy the throne. focalors was not just trying to give back the power to neuvilette, that was just one of her goals. she was also trying to defy a judgement from celestia (known to turn people into hilichurls for accessing forbidden knowledge, and dropping nails onto misbehaving civilizations) That is why her plan is so convoluted. and successful.

why do i think venti could do something similar. because he lies about how powerful he is. when signora takes his gnosis, he could have just turned into wind and left. it's literally one of the first things we see him do. instead he just blows wind at her and talks in rhyme (like he does when he's performing). he says he's the weakest archon because of his non visibility and amount of worshippers, but out of the nations we've seen, he's got one of the most visible and active worship bases out of all the archons. he also tends to sleep during time of peace, ostensibly to stave off erosion, but it could also be a way to collect power over time.

we also know he doesn't like celestia, saying he wouldn't visit even if invited, and having that trauma flash in the manhua.

i think it is possible that the anemo throne is already destroyed, either in the past, or recently; or that it will be in the future, but venti was able the draw the power back into the past so that it could not be intercepted by a third party (tsarista, who wants to destroy celestia). we have seen time powers maintain an illusion from the present to the past (the great sakura tree was grown in the present, but also in the past thanks to istaroth and makoto). it is not far fetchted to think that ability could be used similarly on the throne.

venti, who cares for dvalin like family, returns the power of the anemo sovereign back to him, but uses time to keep up the illusion of the throne until such time that illusion is no longer needed. the throne is either already destroyed or will be destroyed, but the power is in dvalin. venti pretends to loose the gnosis to keep up the illusion to celestia that he is nominally loyal to them, but without the gnosis, he is now truly free

okay, i was reading "the pale princess and the six pygmies" and this book really consolidated my belief that paimon is a seelie and that the traveller and their abyss twin are shade of phanes, more specifically traveller being the shade of life. i swear, it feels so right!!!

the description of the people from the moonlight forest sounds oddly familiar to a little flying lavender melon we know of. their monarch (the pale princess) and her people are symbolically very tied to the moon, much like paimon. i'm not trying to say paimon is the pale princess, but there's a lot of similarities between this story and the liyue tales about seelies seen in "records of jueyun".

seelies are known to be remnants of a bygone race that once held beautiful forms (common characteristic between the moonlight kingdom's people and seelie ancestors) and immense wisdom which they used to guide mankind; travelling alongside them and teaching them languages (as paimon does to traveller) and philosophies of nature.

but more interesting, the ancestor of the seelie from the liyue tale is said to have once met a traveler from afar, whom they swore an oath of union with. something that was witnessed by the three moon sisters. thirty days after the union, a calamity struck; the seelie and their lover fled into exile, but the disaster eventually caught up with them. as punishment, they were separated, and their memories were wiped. the seelie and the moon sisters' previous form, voice, and wisdom were then lost, leading them to offer only small treasures to those willing to follow them.

this tragic ending for the seelie ancestor is actually a bit similar to the end of pale princess' story, in which the pale princess and her people are cursed by the night mother to linger forever in a point between life and death. the pale princess also ends up separated from her lover (who's a prince of the kingdom of light from the other side of the world, someone who can calso classify as a traveller from afar), who dies by the ends of the pygmies that betray them. but the night mother also proclaims a prophecy: her greatest foe shall descend in thousands of years. he who wields a sword that heralds the dawn and wears armor that can reflect the shining sunlight will destroy her kingdom and bring the prince back to life. the princess will then be free from her eternal torment. i will comment more on this prophecy later on but for that to make sense, i need to contextualise something else.

do you know how the elemental gemstones are named after hindu deities? the hydro gemstone is called varunada lazurite, after the deity varuna. remember nara varuna, the golden nara who aided the aranaras during a calamity hundreds of years ago? yeah!!! so varuna is actually a hindu god associated with the sky, oceans and water and until this point everything fits perfectly with the hydro archon which isn't weird for the hydro stone, but there's a catch.

varuna often appears twinned with another hindu god, mitra. in the rigveda, the oldest vedic text, mitra is mostly indistinguishable from varuna, together with whom mitra forms a dvandva pair and it has essentially the same characteristics as varuna alone (doesn't that sounds like twins?). mitra-varuna are considered protectors of the righteous order of rta, the principle of natural order which regulates the operation of the universe and everything within it. now, get ready for the juicy part. mitra-varuna are also addressed as devas, meaning "shiny", "exalted" or "heavenly being", and they're called sustainers of mankind. yes, like the title "sustainer of heavenly principles", also known as the unknown god!!! but it gets better. mitra is heavily associated with the light of dawn and the morning sun, while varuna is connected with the evening, and ultimately the night - morning star and evening star, respectively. which is funny considering the traveller and their twin appeared like shooting stars in the opening cutscene of the game (traveller being the one associated with the morning star and mitra).

we know that in genshin, the shade that took the heart of the primordial sea to create egeria, the first hydro archon, was the shade of life. so it wouldn't be that weird that the stone would contain a reference to them. it's just extremely curious that it simultaneously connects this idea to the twins.

in adittion to all the light motifs around the traveller and the abyss twin, like their names which mean light and clear sky, lucifer is also known as lightbearer and the morning star. he's also associated with the idea of falling from the sky and in poetry, he's referred to as herald of the dawn. what makes this even better is the fact paimon also has a demon name. paimon being the 9th spirit of the ars goetia and the king of hell that is the most obedient to lucifer. and, isn't it fun that paimon is such a faithful travelling companion of the traveller?

going back to "the pale princess and the six pygmies" and the prophecy proclaimed by the night mother, it's curious that the prince from the kingdom of light is described as able to make life flourish around him. it's even more interesting that the one who's prophecised to save the princess and revive the prince wields a sword that heralds the dawn (lucifer's title) and wears armor that can reflect the shining sunlight. can we agree not many descriptions scream traveller so much as much as this one? the fact they started their journey hundred of years after their twin has travelled through teyvat and they're reconstructing their steps in hopes of reuniting with them could also be paralleled to the scenario. especially if the the kingdom of light is supposed to represent the abyss and the prince, by extent, the traveller's twin. this could also fit with the theory that the twin is actually the third descender and someone wants to revive them using the gnosis, but i guess that's a theory for another time.

the books in genshin are often told in allegories or metaphors, or are simply very embelished versions of reality. i don't expect these texts to exactly portray what happened with the seelies or the characters in "the pale princess and the six pygmies" to relate in a super straightforward way to actual characters in the game, but i think the connection between the two books and the repeated themes that point to the traveller are pretty convincing.
