Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu - Enter The Dragon (Self-Insert OC Fanfiction)

Hello! I'm here to present my pride and joy, Ninjago: ETD! It's a story that involves some dragon concepts/lore from HTTYD and The Legend of Spyro. The story Is set in Ninjago, starting from S1 to the latest Season.

This is mainly a self-indulgent fic that serves as my self-insert OC's backstory and a slow-burn romance between my OC and Canon (Rykari Furia x Cole Brookstone.)

Ninjago: Enter The Dragon (ETD) tells the story of a young Dracolycan girl called Rykari Furia. Rykari is the descendant of the Grandmaster of Aether, Dragonlord Aldraeyn Furia, and Master of Plasma, Nieda Doryu. She discovers that not only is she the next Master of Plasma, but she inherits her Great-Great-Grandfather's Power of Aether. Her home island of Bethirholm is in danger of infiltrators who seek to harvest the young Dracolycan's special power for their greed, so her father sends her away in hopes of keeping her safe. The night of her departure, a descendant of Viggo Grimborn, Klaude Grimborn, finds Rykari and attempts to capture her. With the help of her Family's old friend, Master Wu, she escapes the mad dragon hunter and accompanies this wise old man to a different realm called "Ninjago" to help find the Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu.

Join Rykari as she meets the Ninja, training to find her true potential as the Master of Plasma and the next Grandmaster of Aether. She meets her new teammates, the Ninja, and allies along the way as she adjusts to the life of a Ninja and embraces her nature as a Dracolycan among her new friends. All while discovering more secrets about her family's past, legacy, and herself.

Contradictory Anniversary? (RTTE)

Hello, everyone! Welcome to a new article! Today’s topic is on this perplexing issue surrounding Berk’s anniversary.

Now I’m sure many of you were as perplexed by the seemingly obvious error in the HTTYD lore. I mean, we’ve all seen the first film, and it’s only said “300 years”. But Stoick and Gobber CLEARLY SAY “400 years”.

(Race to the Edge, Season 4, Episode 3 “Midnight Scrum”)

So, which is it? Is it an error or is this actually truth disguised as misinformation? We’ll find out, right after this! *Cues 5 minutes of commercials*

Just kidding! We’re finding out NOW. Duh. XD

Anyway, so the film AND the show (not to mention the short films) clearly states by both Stoick, Hiccup, and other characters that it’s been 300 years.

However, there’s a VERY important detail in the film that the Wiki probably missed. What was it?

This!

The Wiki says, as stated in the first snip above, that it’s been 300 years since Vikings first arrived on Berk. But in the film, Hiccup adds an important detail that the Wiki didn’t have.

Hiccup: “300 years, and I’m the first Viking who has never killed a dragon!”

While this may be something unrelated at first, it seems to imply that Vikings have been fighting dragons for 300 years, not living on Berk for 300 years. (That being said, he could be talking about Vikings archipelago-wide, not just on Berk.) Which means that Berkians could’ve been living here for 400 years, but have been fighting dragons for 300 years.

However, just as I say this, Astrid says an interesting quote to Hiccup after they find the Red Death:

Astrid: “Hiccup we’ve just discovered the Dragons’ Nest! The thing we’ve been after since Vikings first sailed here! And you wanna keep it a secret?!”

So which is it, Noctus? Is it 300 years or 400 years?

Well, what the Wiki said about Vikings having arrived on Berk 300 years prior could’ve been assumed from Astrid’s quote here. Which, when you think about it, is a logical one to make.

That being said though, it’s never stated whether she, like Hiccup, was talking about the Berkian Vikings, or about Vikings in general throughout the archipelago. We also can’t be sure what “here” means, whether it implies Berk or the Archipelago.

So... how can we be sure, then?

Well, I have found that when all else fails, turn to math! ^_^

So in the film, Hiccup states in his narration at the very beginning of the film that the settlement of Berk has been here “for seven generations.”

If you look at the portraits of Berk’s line of chieftains, there’s about 7 generations of them (sans Hamish the Second’s and Stoick’s Father’s portraits for unknown reasons, which I’ll get to in another article), and Hiccup’s portrait with Stoick makes it the 8th, meaning that Hiccup and the others are the 8th generation.

A generation is factually accepted to be around 20-40 years. And since Hiccup’s generation has been around for 20 or less, I’ll add that into consideration. 

40 x 7 = 280 + 20 = 300

So seven generations would give us about 280 years, which makes sense. When we add the 8th generations 15-20 years, it gives us 295-300 years, exactly. So it all checks out.

So, at face value, it has been 300 years since the Berkian Vikings have lived on the Isle of Berk.

Since RTTE, having been produced by Netflix and not Cartoon Network like the Riders of Berk and Defenders of Berk seasons have been, it was inevitable that there’d be several errors in the lore (don’t even get me STARTED on the many plot holes and plot teasers they’ve never followed through with).

But what if the Berkians weren’t celebrating the 400-Year Anniversary of Berk as a village, but as an island? Then things would make a little more sense.

After all, what if Berk had been an island that was claimed by their ancestors well before they themselves actually settled there? Granted, it’s a pretty big stretch, until you consider the BOOKS! 

That’s right, the BOOKS.

The story of Hiccup the Third and Toothless isn’t an old one. In fact, the plot of HTTYD 1 is greatly inspired and influenced by Hiccup the First and Wodensfang’s story in the books. In it (Book 9 specifically), Wodensfang talks of Hiccup the First’s saga, where not long after his birth, the Vikings of the Mainland (later to be known as the Vikings of Berk) were driven out of their fertile lands by the Uglithugs, a Viking horde who’ll control the Mainland up to current times (aside from the period where Grimbeard the Ghastly reclaimed it from UG’s ancestor for a time until after his death). From the Mainland, they sailed to Berk and made their colony there. During this time, they were also in a bloody war with the dragons, where the King of the Dragons, Merciless (also known as the Green Death [Red Death in the film]), once he hears that a Viking named Hiccup will kill him, seeks to kill everyone on the island to prevent the prophecy from coming true. He sends Wodensfang, who, at the time, was the most dangerous dragon in Merciless’s army, to complete this task. Unfortunately, a storm hits and leaves him entangled in the tree, and grows weak from his wounds. Fortunately, Hiccup the First, a child at the time, came to his aid and healed him, and they became fast friends. Wodensfang would end up helping Hiccup steal the Dragon Jewel from Merciless, forcing the latter to capitulate before Hiccup, who has the Jewel now, forcing him to disband his forces, and be exiled from the Archipelago.

Anyway, I’m digressing, hehe.

Long-story short, the Berkians are forced from their original lands and they sail to Berk and settle there. This could’ve very well been what happened in the HTTYD film lore: the Berkians claimed Berk as a territory belonging to the Kingdom 400 years prior as an outpost for both exploration and wartime purposes, but then 100 years later, a fierce war against another Viking faction broke out, ending in their defeat, and forcing the Vikings of the Mainland (or wherever) to sail to Berk, later becoming the Vikings of Berk. And it isn’t long after they settled that they had to deal with the dragons, many of which had made their nests on the island long before. Then came the dragon raids from Dragon Island, which wouldn’t end until Hiccup the Third defeated the Red Death 300 years later.

Another option is that Berk has just purely existed for 400 years and that they’ve been fighting dragons for 300 once the Red Death came along.

So that’s my hypothesis explaining the 400-Year Anniversary despite the 300 years of settlement. Because the Berkians had the island for 400 years, but didn’t settle it until a hundred years later.

I'm a hundred years late to this, but it's time for me to drop some questions for "The Kingdom of Thorns and Roses"! (I'm craving more Wish content, do this will do for now, lol.)

How did you come with your AU? Is it inspired from other AU's or something else?

What happened to Asha's family in this telling?

OMG QUESTIONS AHHHHHHh🦈🦈

1. How did you come with your AU? Is it inspired from other AU's or something else?

I was inspired from a lot of works! I think what really made me actually GET INTO rewriting Wish was "Alicia and the Kingdom of Star Light" and "At all Costs" Animatics. At first, I originally was going to have Magnifico and Amaya be like this Gaston/Frollo like characters, but overtime, I didn't see them like that! I think this was because my interpitation of Magnifico in the film was more of the "tragic hero" rather than the "tragic villain". Also Asha at the time felt really boring, and Star felt very hallow, which is why I also had to change that super old draft to something new. Overtime, after watching Owl House, Race to the Edge, Wish...15 more times (watched it I think 30 times total), Hunch Back of Notre Dom, and Epic the Musical, I think some of those aspects of what I liked bled into the story. Example, people comparing Magnus to Odesseous LIKE ITS THE VIBE THEYRE NOT THE SAME PERSON-

Not only that, some parts of the story is actually kinda inspired from personal experience! Mainly with the family part- . . . but nothing less, it more inspired from HTTYD and Owl House lol

2. What exactly happed to Asha's family in this telling?

Well...neither of them are dead for starters.

Probably the only Asha who has a fully ALIVE family 💀🙏

I don't even draw her a lot, I just love her design lmao

Dahlia, Simon, and Gabo will most likely be the ones to end up in the story, so most of the teens are here.

I have some ideas to how they tie into Asha in terms of how they know her on a personal/co-worker relationship.

Dahlia WAS Asha's friend during the best parts of her childhood, before Asha distanced herself from her. Her arc is best kept secret for story reasons, but I think it is pretty wholesome.

Simon I'm sorta concidering to be some form of body guard while Asha goes into the Market.

Gabo probably will the the "consipiracy person who is actually right" type of guy heh- Also a friend Star becomes close with! (He totally does not teach him how to swear-)

I do want to incorpiate Hal and Bazeema and probably Flazino somehow in the story, just not sure how and what sort of purpose they will serve at the moment.

I still don't have designs for them, but I will soon hopefully :D

I don't pick favorites between fanfics. I personally love them all and I think a lot of them are really interesting retellings!

But as I honestly think about musical instruments tieing with their respected characters, I might have to make completely different songs for almost all of them-

OK for what I mean by this...

The 4 main characters, Agatha, Magnus, Asha, and Star have their respected instruments tied to their character. This is due to because a lot of the music surrounding the characters in classic disney had instruments tying with their character or enviroment. Ariel, for example, as more whimsical or wonderous music, as she sings "a part of your world". Unfortunatly, I found Wish's instruments not fitting to how I interepret the characters and went for a completely different route.

Asha is mainly tied with either the chello or violin in my version. "BUT ISN'T THE VIOLIN USUALLY TIED WITH THE VILLAIN??" Thats where I say "Does it have to be?" I want to shake it up a bit instead of the violin being just used for "EVIL", because it can be used to tell SUCH EMOTIONAL beats. Here is a cover of the "This Wish" I found:

OFC, I would personally add more instruments to the violin cover for it to hit harder. I ironically found a "Epic" (not sure if it is to the Epic the Musical or just Epic version lol) version that hit so hard, I felt like I was ascending:

If anything, I think the gutair is overused in Disney protagonists, Mirabel had one, Moana had one, and probably more. I just wanted to do something different!

For Star, I imagined the whimsical part of Neverland or more or less instruments that give you that feel, like flutes for example. Or hell, more lullaby! Honestly the best example I can give to show what I am going for is something like:

Maybe even the At All costs instumental tying in both the Asha's instruments and His instruments at the same time can hit more different.

For both Agatha and Magnus, I liked how the trumpets were tied to the scenes they were in, like when Magnifico calls for a meeting and the trumpet plays, I honestly really liked that! But it doesn't have to be trumpets alone! I imagine Magnus/Agatha to have both a electric guitar/piano tied to their characters! Trumpets can be used to enhance the song their singing!

Unironically, there is not a lot of villain songs that I know of that use pianos. I think it is because it is more in ties with dispair moments rather than actual villain songs. Doesn't mean that they don't exist, its just uncommon.

TKORAT! Asha also has trouble making friends. Its mainly due to her having trouble trusting someone and also some more personal issues (this goes for everyone, not just WG! Asha) I think at first TKORAT! Asha would at first just avoid talking to WG! Asha, until after a while, they have a nice cup of tea and just chat! Def would be Art buddies.

OOOOH YEAH. That's the name of Snotlouts' dragon! But still nah.

His name is actually based off the fact that he has snake-like teeth behind his frame, ie "Hooked Fangs".

The frontal parts you see in the image are "fang guards". His actual fangs are hidden in his mouth!

When he attacks, they emerge…and one is solid gold and metallic because he lost a tooth after he bit down on the camera mimic that was attacking his brother and he eventually got it replaced.

The picture above is that of a snake skeleton, of an anaconda variety. Don's fangs are like this and his jaw has these large fangs inside of it that are in the typical "hooked" fashion, as how he and his brother got their names. They are concealed until he is on the attack. The fangs have no venom, as they have no venomous attributes in their mimic family, but they are deadly for another reason. These fangs can pierce...and DEEP. They can rip through another mimic's pseudo-flesh clothes and nail arteries or vital organs if they manage to nail a perfect punch deep into their opponent. If you think Don has to be close to you to deal such a deadly blow...don't forget. Camera Mimics have a lunge attack...AND he can make you hallucinate during a fight. You may turn around thinking you're taking on a real foe, and before you even realize it, two large fangs are already deep into your back and impaling you. Don has two faces. His polite and diplomatic face...and his feral fanged manic face. I'm currently running beta designs for him and his brother. But this will be incorporated heavily into their lore and backstories.

The HTTYD reference is just a nice little bonus! XD

Please please stop saying that. Wyverns are STILL dragons, if anything they are more like a subspecies. In the case of dragons in media portrayed as "wyverns": Aldiun the world eater is still a dragon, Hookfang the monstrous nightmare is still a dragon, hell even a dragon like Falkor the luck/wish dragon from the never ending story is STILL a dragon.

Dragons come in so many shapes and sizes from all over the globe from many different cultures and beliefs from giant serpents, to snake like beasts with feathered wings (amphithere), simple big lizards (drakes), large wyrms, etc etc. They are a common human trope.

To try and say "ermmm actually it's a wyvern" is just mostly annoying and if anything very incorrect within itself as if we pay attention to actual beliefs and lore with wyverns; a true wyvern cannot breathe fire or really any sort of breath and is typically a sort to produce venom OR to have a venomous stinger on its tail like a bee. Of course, this is also to say not all dragons are wyverns either as interestingly enough some stereotypical western dragons: Namely both the SandWing and RainWing from the Wings of Fire series both produce venom this way: RainWings produce venom from their fangs like a snake would, and SandWings have venomous tail barbs like a scorpion; yet we wouldn't call them a wyvern right? No of course not. (To add: HiveWings also have a venomous stinger from thier tail and wrists, similar to a bee. In addition: NightWings at least as recent years have developed a venomous bite, unlike a RainWing, this is via the amounts of bacterial infection in their saliva). Yet. Still dragons.

The dragons from GoT are still dragons and iirc the author made them to be “wyverns” because those sort of dragons are more likely to exist in our world rather than the standard four legs two wings, same with drakes and probably Eastern dragons as well (which fun fact some cultures in the east has depicted them wings also)!!

Blah blah, calling flying fire breathing lizard-like reptiles "wyverns" just because they have four limbs (2 legs 2 wings) and starting this dumb argument when the show/game/general lore refers to them as dragons (i.e skyrim, httyd, GoT, etc so much else) is just Stupid and rather annoying to see each and every time.

They're still dragons at the end of the day.

I’ve had like three people ask about pepper lore so here it mcfreaking is for those interested! This is a basic overview of him, his deal, his timeline, a basic reference and a link to a Pinterest board and Spotify playlist

He is SO important to me and a big part of what I post about httyd. There’s more to him of course but what I have in this post is just the basics. Pls send me asks if you have any questions ab him

Pepper the pitiful is my httyd oc, who started as a shameless self insert but has become his own thing eventually. He’s snotlouts childhood best friend and a big ol dyke which becomes a problem when snotlout develops a crush on him. He tries his best and is brave and good at archery but forgetful and flakey and also drinks too much probably. He and ruffnut are a thing. This is what he looks like

This is his timeline! Not everything described happens on screen

Pre canon-Httyd 1: Pepper is childhood friends with Snotlout, something that his parents were NOT happy about. This is because the jorgensons are assholes. His parents gave him the title “the pitiful” so that he’d be ignored for combat training for his perceived weakness, which didn’t work because he spent so much time with snotlout everyone kind of noticed he knew how to shoot a bow. During httyd 1 he doesn’t really do much of anything except during the final red death showdown, when he and a timberjack try to help.

Rob/dob: The timberjack is revealed to be named Fogcleaver, and her and pepper become a team. Peppers arc during Rob/dob is learning to be reliable in battle. He always means well and tries to help but never shows up to anything on time, sleeps in late, and often spaces out mid-battle without realizing. Just a flaky guy. There’s an episode where he has a whole lesbian realization thing with short hair ruffnut which is then, in the style of Rob/dob, never brought up for the rest of the show

Rtte: During rtte pepper is now a lot more reliable and probably takes viking melatonin so his sleep doesn’t get in the way of training or fighting. A lot of his conflict during rtte is learning to stop covering or making excuses for Snotlout when he does asshole shit. He learns that even if he’s the only person that can stand to be around snotlout, it doesn’t mean he has to unconditionally protect him from all criticism. He learns to stop being so protective, which kind of helps snotlout realize that he’s doing asshole shit and improve! Also, a really big part of this entire show is snotlouts hopeless pining after him. It’s played for laughs most of the time, but when hiccstrid happens snotlout immediately falls flat on his face in love with him, which is hard because pepper is 100% a lesbian at this point and snotlout is friendzoned so many times. So many times. Snotlout is like a brother to him. There’s nothing he can do about it.

Httyd 2: Snotlout gets over pepper after realizing he’s a big dyke, and Pepper joins in in whatever the fishlegs/snotlout/ruffnut love triangle thing was to compete for Ruffnut.

Httyd 3: Pepper and Snotlout finally talk their shit out and at this point they become basically siblings. They are now siblings in everything but family. Ruffnut chooses Pepper and they les is up. Pepper says goodbye to Fogcleaver.

Sometimes you somewhat figure out how to draw people somewhat and then use it to just draw a guy and his snakes with wings.

Yet another character within the HTTYD Divergence roleplay server I'm in.

His name is Rem, he has issues with making meaningful connections to anything but his dragons and commits thievery to survive.

FangPyre is the big boy with two heads, and Spirit is the little bebebe, FangPyre is just a big protective but also impulsive guy and Spirit is notable skittish so she's usually wrapped around part of Rem and hidden under his cloak. Additionally within my headcannons and with the server lore Slitherwings can control their poison secretions, so Rem lounging on FangPyre and having Spirit on his person is relatively safe- even then he does carry antivenin just in case.

I had to name him after the star! I just had to.

So before I answer the emoji question, I believe I should introduce Antares so there's not much confusion.

Basically, in my Ochlos Au (my Magnum Opus most self indulgent fic which has been in the works for two years now), various fantastical creatures exist, part of the world, Ochlos is an elemental AU but not the medieval type no. Much inspiration is taken from Asia instead. But not entirely typical Chinese Asia.

Anyways, fantastical creatures exist, and among them there are dragons. Not mobian dragons, actual dragons. They're like the Chao of the Sonic world in the sense they have specific habitats and everyone knows about them but they can't be found everywhere.

Antares is a dragon, though a rather smaller one. He is the size of a terrible terror from Httyd. Smaller considering I imagine him terrible terror sized but with reference to the mobians instead of humans. He is Shadow's pet dragon. Any further and I might end up spoiling the actual au. But basically, he was given Antares when he was little as a gift from his adopted sister (Maria lives!) when he left for the realm to learn the skills of his elemental abilities. Shadow is kinda introverted so he doesn't socialize much, so Antares is his closest companion.

When I was in 6th grade I wrote a HTTYD fanfiction that, to my 6th grade mind, was the coolest thing on the planet. (In retrospect It Was Not) But in the process of throwing whatever middle school me thought was cool onto the fanfiction.net document page, I also created just. A completely batshit AU. Book lore was thrown in there with movie lore and stirred up with my obsession with prophecies and melodrama and also an entire scene quoted from harry potter 4 because I thought that's what passed for a funny subtle reference (In retrospect It Did Not)

Anyway in 2017 I tried writing "hey what would the second movie's timeline look like if I stuck to the completely apeshit bonkers canon of the fic I wrote" and it never ended up going anywhere but I'm really tempted to try again.

Once again, I didn't watch a drawing video today because I was drawing while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade with my parents. So I drew an empty mug, unfortunately the spoon looks like a pencil to me. I drew my left hand again, and I think I'm getting better! Makes my left hand cramp though, don't get why. Then I drew some shapes which then evolved into drawing a bunch of crystals or shards.

Unfortunately, my plans to draw bats didn't happen today. I was originally going to draw the bat from below again using the reference and then draw it again but for memory. Was fully prepared, had two pages ready so I could flip and easily compare.

But then I remembered I have an assignment where I have to make a museum exhibit about a topic and it's due someday next week. For some reason it's worth 25% of my grade. I was originally going to do it over The Underland Chronicles, but that quickly became a lot because I only needed 5 items and I was choosing like 6 items per book. But I also had the issue of explaining why it was an important item without spoiling. So instead I did it on me, so I guess this is a bit of a lore dump on me and the things I find important to who I am.

So in order of walking through, it is Narnia, Wii games, HTTYD, band(specifically percussion), and TUC plus bats. Easier to do because I can just list the items and say it's my favorite blank and these are the things I've associated with it. I haven't drawn in the items, only sketched some of them, and I'll probably just number the others instead of drawing tiny individual items. But I did find this helpful because it shows I've learned not to commit right away. A week ago me would've just gone for it and it would've been a mess of erase marks. But now I sketch before committing, most of the time.

Elena and North #2

So...here is random lore that is crucial to Elena's life 👀

Elena actually went through 2 soulsteeds already, her frist one was a old dapple mare ( Her first horse + her first North ) who died only 4 years later ( she was 10 when she arrived and is 14 when the first North died. ) She accepted North's death peacfully until they returned as a small fleabitten colt. Well before the first North died Concorde had her transformation and alla that stuff so while North #2 was growing she would ride some other horse she had or ride with one of her soul sisters, but on the second month of having No5rth #2 her sisters began to fight more ( like it went from screaming to physical ) and this effected Elena so she would walk instead.

In the seventh month of having North #2 her sisters where fighting while a small group of Garnok's army wreaked havoc on the Epona countryside. ( The old Dew's farm ) Well her sisters decided to start fighting at Wolfhall Inn 🤦🤦 and COMPLETELY FORGOT THEIR MISSION. Elena knew this farm was important to Maya so she asked Concord if they could fly into battle together to stop it from being destroyed by pissed off aliens seince her sisters where busy. Concorde agreed and they took off with Elena using what she learned from Alex about shooting people. Concorde and Elena where successful in diriving them into the sea and landed back at Wolfhall Inn where a group of Druids ( Avalon, Evergray, Rhiannon, and a few others ) came to scold the sisters for sitting on their arse and not joining in. They congratulated Elena and the soulseeds for taking action which pissed off Alex, Anne, and Lisa ( especially Anne for taking Concorde ). They demanded to meet Fripp and talk about this in the Stone Circle so Elena came the next day with North #2. It got out of hand and the soulriders ( except for Linda ) decided to throw hands with Elena...A MINOR DOING WHAT SHE WAS TOLD. Well, she failed to protect North #2 and he was flung back by one of the sisters ( Fripp believes it was Anne ) into one of the pillars, bashing his skull in and dying apon impact. At the time she blasted Alex and Lisa off of her and scooped up North #2 and ran out, dissapearing into the forest, Rhiannon found her later that day sleeping with the corpse and took her back to stay with Avalon and Evergray in their house for now. ( she didint send her home bc she is homeless and sleeps with Rhiannon in the barn lol ) Fripp and the other Druids '' quarantined '' the soulriders, not leting the 5th and the rest come in contact until Elena's therapy and training is done but she can visit the soulsteeds.

Lo and behold: the Ghost Fury! The smallest Fury species, Ghost Furies are native to the dim, labyrinthine, and highly-pressurized environment of the upper Hidden World. Their kind - much like Cavechasers (what I am now calling my HW Deathgrippers) - are completely unknown to humanity and other surface-dwellers. As the primary prey of Cavechasers, most of their adaptations are designed specifically to thwart Cavechaser's abilities.

Ghost Furies are completely scaleless, with rubbery, translucent skin. It is covered in micro-fiber growths that give it an incredibly velvety texture; these fibers, particularly prominent along the wingtips, are meant to muffle sound. Combined with their unique wingspan, they can fly as swiftly and silently as owls. This enables them to elude the fine-tuned hearing of Cavechasers when in motion.

Moreover, their skin serves as their primary weapon. It secretes a powerful toxin that, when ingested, induces severe hallucinations and psychosis. Cavechasers are immune to the ingested form of this poison. However, they are not immune to the inhaled form of it - a Ghost Fury’s breath weapon is an aerosolized, highly-concentrated form of the toxin that can begin producing symptoms in seconds. It functions as a last-ditch effort to throw off the senses of pursuing Cavechasers if other escape attempts go awry. The brightly colored gum frill and patterns along their mouth serve as a threat display warning of chemical hazard.

The last function of a Ghost Fury’s skin is camouflage. Their skin can shift from transparent to a motley assortment of opaque colors that allow them to mask their own internal bioluminescence and disguise themselves in almost any environment. Ghost Furies will typically camouflage themselves even when at rest. They only reveal their transparency when they feel completely relaxed and safe, or when comatose or otherwise direly injured.

Of their five senses, Ghost Furies rely most prominently on sight; this stands in contrast to Cavechasers, who utilize sound and smell. Ghost Furies have massive, rounded eyes with reflective tapetum lucidum to capture light. They can see well into the ultraviolet, but, like most dragons in the Hidden World, cannot see the orange-red part of the visible spectrum. Their eyes have misty secondary eyelids that protect them from Cavechaser acid; these eyelids are see-through from the inner side. Similar to their camouflage, they usually only let up their secondary eyelids when they feel secure, although this behavior is more likely to vary on an individual basis.

Oddly enough, Ghost Fury eggs bioluminesce red-orange, and begin to do so even before being laid. While this might seem counterintuitive, it actually serves an important function in protecting the eggs from Cavechaser predation: Cavechasers are some of the only dragons in the HW who can see red-orange, and because they are the only dragons who bioluminesce in that spectrum, they instinctively associate orange glowing with other Cavechasers. Their paranoid territoriality triggers the, ‘rival pack: stay far away,’ instinct upon seeing the orange glow of a Ghost Fury nest, preventing them from investigating or disturbing the eggs. The orange glow visible through a gravid Ghost Fury’s belly serves much the same purpose, helping to protect individuals who would otherwise be weakened and vulnerable due to their condition.

Ghost Furies are primarily carnivorous, but are opportunists who will consume anything they can. Their primary food source is fish found near the surface of the Hidden World’s undersea. They are powerful swimmers on account of their need to fish, and can hold their breath for up to half an hour. They supplement their diet with a mixture of arthropods (insects, arachnids, crustaceans, and so on) found both above and below the water. They will willingly consume coral, algae, or the rare fruiting bodies of certain fungi whenever these food sources are available.

That’s all the lore I’ve got for now! I’m still working on plenty of other things about them - social structure (if present), temperament, life cycle, et cetera, and I really need to flesh out the same for Cavechasers as well.
